The best tour in the finger lakes!! So much history! and great wine!!!
Loved the tour...kids even liked it(surprized me)-beautiful old buildings...staff friendly and answered our multitude of ques...could give abit more to each tasting since the idea is to buy when done...should be enough for the couple to both try a sip...they would sell more...
Wonderful tour
This place has it’s special atmosphere! So relaxing and quiet
I’ve been there twice and have had great experiences. The concord/Niagara wines are really tasty and make good table wines. The prices are good, and the staff is very friendly.
Historical winery dating back more than a hundred years with a large variety of wines to taste and buy. Many exhibits to discover the beginnings of this finger lakes wine region.
Great museum and place to learn about wine. Awesome tasting room and great prices on delicious wines.
The Salisbury and mashed potatoes was excellent highly recommended to everybody I know
Jennie gave us a whole history lesson and was so nice! We loved the wine!
Museum - like visitor center, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and quality products. Don't let GPS send you up a hilly dirt road, though - this is just off the highway, easily spotted (the buildings are huge).
Very cool place, a lot of history. But the tastings are now $10 a person, they used to be free. They say the reason is because of covid and they have to give food now.
Great Place???? Highly recommend. Wide variety of wines at affordable prices. This winery makes also Great Campaigns. 2 museums across the road touching on history of boating and aviation in Finger Lakes Region.
The place itself had a cool vibe-walking around was informative. I enjoyed learning about where the cork comes from. I am not a lover of sweet wines-this is pretty much all they had.
I was sad to see that the Taylor wine company had closed and original spot I had often visited with my aunt and Grandma throughout my years of visiting New York however Pleasant Valley Winery was exceptional beautiful and tasty wines what a treat
Very pleasant atmosphere and nice selection of wines to sample from. Definitely recommend for a nice afternoon visit!
Great people, great wine, great visit!
We had a fab time! Great wine and champagne!
This place seems stuck in time, as the oldest wine maker in the region that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The museum is a bit outdated (see the USSR flag) but it's cute. The tastings are free and the store is well stocked. Overall a good stop on a tour of the wine region! Their bubbly was as good as expected!
Awesome place
Having romantic notions of opening a winery or starting a vineyard? Get schooled on wine production history and tour an amazing complex pondering what it once was and currently is.
Great dessert wines; lots of history here
My wife and I found this to be the best part of our trip around some of the wineries in the Finger lakes. Of all the places we went this was one of the few that I could say there was a "pleasant" taste and experience in every glass. My wife's love of chocolate was fulfilled with the Chocolate Lab wine. Personally, I found a few of my favorites there as well, from my beloved dry reds to the sweet reds. My favorite surprise came with their "Solera" version of Dry Sherry. I have since bought a couple cases through a local merchant. In addition, the tour was filled with history as this winery is truly a part of the long Fingerlakes story, it's ups and downs and changes. One of the oldest wineries around, the character of the place is amazing and enchanting to say the least. Large places for parties and meetings are available for reservations I am sure. We all have different tastes but this was a tremendous highlight for us, and will be one of our favorite places to visit whenever down that way. We are sharing this as often with friends and family as possible. Worth the trip and worth the history. Enjoy!
A massive selection of wine, a friendly staff and a hugely interesting history. Wine tasting great value. We took a tour. Book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Wonderful tasting experience with extremely kn pop knowledgable and personable newlywed ! Gift shop is fabulous !
My wife and I came here 20 years ago during our honeymoon. We came back this week to celebrate our anniversary. They were great 20 years ago and they have maintained that quality. Spumante and the peach chardonnay are amazing. If you are able to go during harvest season, check out their tours. One of the oldest and best winery's in the Finger Lakes. Highly recommend.
This place made the trip this weekend worth it. 1st place I would return.
I have a special place in my heart for this place as I lived down the street and rode my bike in the Taylor\Great Western\Mercury parking lots for hours on end growing up. I used to make fun of all the out of town tourists, now I am one..., Stopped in with my wife literally 5 minutes before they were supposed to close on a Friday afternoon. Not only did they still let us in to taste, they made fresh hors d' oeuvres, and stayed open 15 minutes late so we could buy what we wanted. Thank You! Worth a stop if you can find it nestled in the Valley near Hammondsport.
Had a great time visiting and tasting. Each of the champagnes are terrific here. A huge thank you to Noah and Jennie for their knowledge and kindness. They made our trip so enjoyable. Can’t wait to go again! Cheers!
Wonderful tasting experience, great champagne selection and pretty good wine options. They offered a nice selection of appetizers along with the tasting and also had a good socially distanced set-up with tables well separated. The tasting experience was very relaxing and self-paced and estimated at about an hour to complete.
Hubby and I had a wonderful time on our tour with Noah as our tour guide. He was very informative and genuinely care about information he imparted to us. Gorgeous old building and we're so excited to hear how wine & champagne are made. After sampling our wine/champagne of choice, we ended up with almost a box full of wine. We love everything about Pleasant Valley Wine Co. We'll be returning again.
The place seems very dated and dark inside. The staff was very friendly and helpful however the wines were less than shall we say "sophisticated" however we were able to find 1 or 2 to put inside a canteen to drink st the pool of the hotel
Jenny is the best tour guide ever! Me and my family really enjoyed our time with her and all the information she gave us! We will be back! Ask for Jenny! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Jenny was so knowledgeable and friendly. We sampled the wine - $5 and then enjoyed a glass of wine while going through the museum. Great stuff. I now have a few bottles to enjoy at home.
Friendly and knowledgable staff...free tasting, reasonably priced wines... museum is an added bonus
I liked wines but was disappointed that I was not allowed to play the piano
Just tried a bottle of the Chocolate Lab for new years eve. It was a hit. Grwat with ice cream and cookies. A wonderful dessert wine.
Free tastings, knowledgeable staff, great service, and amazing wine.
Fantastic wine
Always the BEST
Friendly, great service
Wine is ok but the history and buildings are amazing!!!
Disappointed. With all the great reviews and history we were expecting better. The wine wasn't great. It almost tasted as if the bottles were open for a long time due to limited tastings. The were stale. We actually left many glasses with wine still in them.. I don't think I have ever really done that any place. The champagne was the best part. I wish I just tasted them as they were fresh and crisp. Do yourself a favor. Try the champagne. Come when you can tour.
Had a great experience and tour with Jenny ! I’ve been to the tasting room a few times in the past but have never done the tour. I’m so glad that I did. I now have a greater appreciation for this place thanks to Jenny’s great energy and knowledge about the history of the winery. Also loved the seated tasting. I hope you keep this option moving forward. Well done !
We arrived at 4:40 to do a tasting, just in time to see them take the "open" flag inside...we walked to the door and knocked...no answer...went into the wine shop and were informed that they were closed for tastings at 4:45. From the wine shop we could clearly see another couple actively tasting, but were turned away as the staff would have to clean up the wine bar and they would be closed right at 5pm. Never tried the wine but from the looks of it they are too large to care about the people drinking their wine if it will be any inconvenience for them to serve their clients. Disappointed.
Fun and interesting to learn about the place. Professional staff taking all covid-19 precautions while making it an enjoyable experience! Great deals as well ????
Very pleasant atmosphere unfortunately with covid there was no tours but you can not fault the winery for that.
Nosh helped us with our tasting and was very informative and friendly. The wine was good as well
Pleasant Valley Wine Company is my favorite place to visit in the Fingrr Lakes region. My wife and I have visited this area for more than 30 years. The beauty and history of this winery is second to none. I heard that a wine tasting had gone from free before covit to $10 per person after. We were excited to see how much better a tasting had become. Unfortunately, I was disappointed that it was basically the same. I appreciate the many years of free, I just don't understand. Still a great place.
We have been to Pleasant Valley/Great Western Winery many times. We went on small business Saturday to stock up for the holidays and winter. They are doing a great job during Covid. The tables are spaced far apart and our server was so nice. There is now a fee (understandably); however, I would not call it a tasting. You pick five wines/champagne/port and they are large pours. I would call them a full glass. There was four of us and they gave us two plates of cheese, crackers and pepperoni. We go for the champagne - it is delicious and extremely inexpensive. Their gift shop is very nice. They are not doing tours now; however, when they resume, I would highly recommend touring the buildings up on the hill. I can't say enough good things about their super nice staff and the delicious champagne. Their port is very good also as is their cooking sherry and I buy the vanilla cream sherry to make a bundt cake.
#1 Bonded winery in U.S.. great wines, prices. See a part of history. Tour a must but must make a reservation. Old buildings are beautiful. Champagne caves still intact. Staff is exceptional.
The vanilla Cheri is amazing
A unique and amazing experience! Sit down tasting with fantastic customer service and top notch products at very affordable prices. An extremely relaxing, enjoyable way to taste compared to norm.
Awesome museum and complimentary wine tasting
While visiting New York, we went to the winery. The tasting was amazing and the wine is great. We went back another time and bought more wine to bring home to Virginia. The bubbly/fruit wines are my favorites. My #1 stop on my next visit to New York.
I LOVE THIS PLACE. They are so kind and their champagnes are excellent! Amazing champagnes and the best prices in the entire Finger Lakes.
This place is always awesome fast unloading and loading here. Friendly people always
