This Winery corresponds to the category of Winery.
Fantastic wine tasting experience. Staff was knowledgeable and informative. Award-winning varietals, especially good when paired with the optional charcuterie plates. Well worth the extra cost!!
Awesome wines! We got a membership and it's totally worth it. Their reds are great and the service is friendly and relaxed. All staff were wearing masks. We have been many times and we'll surely be back many more. Try the the saparavi! They were one of the first of not the first vineyard in this area to grow it. Amazing wine!
Very nice red barrel tasting!
One of the most unique and enjoyable wineries I've ever been to! Their wines are delicious, many of them on the drier side. They have a lot of tatsy food options too. You'll have a beautiful view of the lake and their vineyards. Most of all, their staff is incredible and friendly. I highly recommend this winery!
underappreciated and unsung winery of the Finger Lakes, Go there, try the wine, you will not be dissappointed. the greatest winery, you have never heard of
We try to get to McGregor every year when we are in the region, in addition to several others. The tasting experience is very pleasant, seated at tables with a beautiful view of the valley and Keuka Lake. They bring little snacks for in between your wine tastings, samples of things they sell besides wine- very nice! The wines are delicious! The staff is friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. Great place!
The wine, simply put, was bad. What really got to me, though, is that we were informed twice, on separate call-ins, that we’d be able to do an outdoor tasting if we were okay with less staff interaction. However, upon arrival we were rudely informed that that was “not a policy” and told we had no choice but to sit indoors. Have some respect for Covid safety! If people are willing to freeze their butts off in December in the interest of safety, they should damn well be allowed to do so.
Great place, beautiful view. The wine was delicious, cute cheese plate. No to big, just enough for a taste.
Wonderful experience. One of the best views of Keuka Lake, and great staff. The wines were very nice, and we bought a few bottles to enjoy later.
We came for a tasting but ended up spending a bit of time ordering extra wine and a charcuterie board. Wonderful wine and beautiful setting.
McGregor Vineyard produces some of the finest wines in The Finger Lakes. From the Dry Riesling--beautiful minerality, intoxicating petrol, and clean finish, to the Black Russian Red--dark berries, soft tannins, sweet oak, and a deep, lingering finish...every wine a journey. The owners and staff are wonderful. If excellent wine is what you seek, put McGregor's at the top of your list.
Authentic wine tasting experience. Very professional staff. Can't wait to go back.
Great winery in the finger lakes, all the wines are great, but don't miss out on the Black Russian Red. If you enjoy bold dry reds then you need to give it a try.. It's at the top of the price list here but worth the experience. This is a unique blend of two Russian grapes that you won't find anywhere else
Amazing winery! Great wines that are worth every penny! The staff was helpful and curious!
McGregor is one of our favorite Finger Lakes Wineries. We particularly like the red wines. The Black Russian Red is a very special wine. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. You will enjoy a relaxed tasting, with a gorgeous view of the lake.
We stopped in for a tasting and stayed for a late lunch, 2 tastings and a mixed take home case of very good new releases including Pinot Noir and Black Russian Red!
Higher end winery overlooking keauka lake. Fantastic views, and some of the best wine on the lake. However not much else on offer .
Loved McGregor! This was our very first vineyard stop as we rolled in to town. The views, the staff, the wines, the tasty treats- all were fantastic! Will definitely visit again.
Heard great words about McGregor and finally got a chance to visit today. Great shop for many different things (ie. Steak rubs, sauces, and jams) on top of wines to buy. I am a dry, bold red person and now in LOVE with its Black Russian Red, though a bit out of my normal price range but I feel it is worth every penny of it!
This is one of my top two Finger Lakes wineries. The tasting room is nicely done and the gift shop is full of local products. This is a must stop when visiting Keuka Lake. Their Black Russian Red is delicious as is their Pinot Noir.
Great setting, did not get there in time to sample their wines. Good press on several of them though, worth the visit.
Quite terrible. I would give no stars but that wasn't an option. My small group walked in and the lady at the desk asked if we had a reservation which we did not so its understandable that she said no but it was more about how she responded she said oh, I have no reservations actually none for the rest of the day . . . And proceeded to suggest absolutely nothing. She didn't offer a bottle or a glass just simply turned us away. That's fine I don't want to give my money to a winery with a rude person working there
Summary: Quaint, beautiful tasting room with the best view and most unique red wines in the area. Wine: The whites that we tried were OK, but they had some really cool red wines made with grapes we’ve never heard of (some Russian varietals) that were AMAZING. Probably some of the best reds we tried our whole trip. We would highly recommend getting your hands on some of those reds if you can find them. Ambiance/View: Probably the best view of Keuka Lake from any place we visited! The tastings don’t happen at a normal bar, but at little tables, which was a nice home-y feel to the experience. They also have a restaurant which seemed to have a bigger space and number of tables than the tasting area. In the middle of the tasting area is a cute store filled with locally made items for sale if you want to do some shopping. Education: The tasting room staff were very friendly and did share a bit of history to go with our wines, but the vast majority of the information shared with us was printed and in a binder in the middle of the tasting table. This wasn’t my favorite way to consume that kind of information, but my husband loved that he didn’t have to bother someone to learn to his heart’s content. Other: The tastings here come with a snack plate, which was unique and quite cool! We enjoyed our plate a lot, and even ended up purchasing some of the snack items to go with the wine we bought.
My favorite winery. Nowhere better to enjoy great wine with perfect weather!
great wine, friendly staff, tasty sauces for sale.
Let me start off by saying I didn’t try their wines... because I never got the chance. Two of us showed up and were told it would be 15-30 minutes for a tasting because there was a big event in the back. We were then told we can buy a bottle of wine and wait on the deck. That’s when we said “no thanks” and left. I was looking forward to trying their wines but because of what seems like poor management/manpower issues, I never got the chance.
Always a wonderful wine experience! Highly recommended!!
The views are spectacular! The flight of reds and whites were delicious, and the yummy foods too!
This place is fantastic! They made my wife and I feel right at home!
Very relaxed atmosphere. Quiet location with a really nice view. Tasting was conducted seated with individual courses served along with an array of food pairings. It was one of the most pleasurable experiences in 3 days of tasting around Keuka Lake. Good wines from older vines. Possibly a bit on the high end of the spectrum price wise, but it didn't stop us from bringing home a couple bottles.
McGregors is one of my favorite Keuka Lake Wineries! Fantastic whites and reds, an awesoe deck to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and a beautiful view, and a lovely staff make this a perfect stop on the Keuka Wine Trail!! Try the Black Russian Red and the Rob Roy if you enjoy dry reds - incredible!
Been a club member for years. Stopped in to pick up wine order and have a tasting too. They have adapted well to the current issues and are doing tastings with appointment. Wines are great as usual and we felt safe during our visit. This should be on your list of places worth stopping at.
A great vineyard producing some wines that are on par with those from the French and California regions. Take in the relaxing views over the lake as you enjoy a refreshing sampling of their finest. This place is a must stop on the Finger Lakes Wine Trail Try the Black Russian Red!
Great wines and friendly atmosphere. Snack food plates are included in the wine tasting
Given the location and views I would have expected better wines but I guess the views don't translate to wines. Out of all the wines that we had tasted that day and between the 6 of us it was basically the full range of wines offered... Well may be most of them. To tell the truth I was unimpressed the Rieslings in my humble opinion lacked the subtlety of flavors and nose and the Gewurtztraminer was somewhat bitter and lacked the intensity I came to enjoy in some of the other wineries in the region but even if we give it a benefit of the doubt that 2016 was generally not a favorable year for the region it still could pull off something a little better. Hopefully this years grapes would be better. The Black Russian (Georgian and Moldovan/Romanian growers would probably have hissy fit at the name) but the wine is solid though not of the 2016 harvest and I honestly don't think it's worth $70 but that is just me. Service deserves a special mention given that such a large parties especially those with diverse tastes would be better served by bringing the cart full of wines to the table instead of running back and forth to grab the bottles but that's just my opinion...
Great experience and service, and some of the best red wines in the Finger Lakes.
Great tasting, your able to sit down.
Great wine but rather pricey for the area.
Enjoyed their wines and really liked the added touch of some cheese/crackers/chocolate sampler. I didn't care to much that all their tastings were seated. The waitress would tell us about the wine and then leave. This only left us a small window of opportunity to ask any questions and queries about the wine.
Fell in love with their flagship red, and their dry sparkling white. The girl from San Fran that helped us out just made it a delightful time as well, cannot wait to return.
One of the best in the Finger Lakes. Love the warm tasting room and the wines of course!
Great wine, views and a fun place to do a wine tasting. Many events throughout the year.
Very nice people and beautiful view.
Six of us on a Finger Lake wine tour and stopped here on the way back to our hotel. Especially liked because they are dog friendly - we have a mini poodle - and he was allowed inside. We all decided to have a glass of wine instead if a tasting and sit on the patio overlooking the lake. Good selection of wines and nice folks.
Enjoyed the tasting. They even give you a small plate of snacks to enjoy. It's as sit down tasting which was also enjoyable!
Excellent Vineyard - McGregor was a staple visit of ours for years, so much so that we decided to become members. We truly enjoy ourselves everytime we visit. The views from the tasting room (or even better, the deck) are phenomenal. Sometimes we'll just go, buy a bottle of wine and some cheese, and just sit on the deck and relax. The staff of the tasting room are always very helpful, answering any questions you need. Wine Tasting - A few dollars for 5 tastings, a snack plate and a glass to take home. Nice additional touches, the glass and the snacks. The staff is helpful, and ready and willing to answer questions. The wine - I've never had a bad wine at McGregors, but some of them I like much better than others. The Chardonnay is always good, as are the Rieslings. But the reds here are phenomenal. There are a few vineyards in the finger lakes that know how to do red, and McGregors is certainly one of them. The Black Russian (also known as Saparavi) is amazing. The Rob Roy is another excellent red wine. And the Highland Red is a reasonably priced, every day red that we have really come to love. The view - sitting high above Keuka Lake, the views can't be beat. It's a great way to spend an hour, just sitting, enjoying some wine and cheese and relaxing while overlooking the lake. All in all, McGregor is one of, if not THE best winery in the Finger Lakes, at least in my opinion. It's not a visit to the region if you don't stop by.
Wine and cheese weekend on the Keuka Lake Wine Trail. Yum.
Very good atmosphere. Individual tastings and snacks with the wine. Some exactly to our taste.
I've visited McGregor many times throughout the years before the pandemic, but last weekend I finally had the opportunity to return to enjoy the vineyard once again in the new 'rona era. Much to my surprise, McGregor had expanded so much. There's a new(ish?) front porch overlooking the vineyards and Keuka Lake -- complete with umbrellas, tables, Adirondack chairs, and benches. Additionally, adjacent to the existing polygonal window-lined tasting room now sits a rich, new cherry wood colored tasting room dressed with warm string lights along the ceiling and windows overlooking the property and gardens. What's more, there's additional outdoor seating in a large decorative garden tent that overlooks the vineyards and the lake. So much added versatility to the grounds! McGregor was already a personal favorite of mine before the many additions. Now it's simply unmatched!
This winery has delicious wines, great food, incredible staff, charming atmosphere, and a beautiful view of the lake. I can guarantee you — you’ll have an amazing time here!
Awesome service! Very well informed and friendly. Great wines, great snack pairings. We are big fans of the pesto sauce!
One of my top 3 wineries on Keuka Lake! Great wine, wonderful view, and phenomenal staff who make you feel at home!
Great wines; some very unique varieties. Awesome staff; very helpful. They have some great events throughout the year (barrel tastings, clan picnic, etc). The setting has a fantastic view of Keuka Lake. My compliments to it's owner, John McGregor. Very knowledgeable, easy going and willing to talk to you about both the wines and the winery. Highly recommend this winery to people looking to try some very excellent wines in a very unique setting!!!
McGregor Vineyard was mentioned by a tasting attendant at another winery, and so we thought it would be worth checking out. Interesting arrangement, with rustic tables that are set up more like a restaurant. The attendants are also more like waiters/waitresses than traditional tasting room staff. Unfortunately this means that they are flitting around a bit too much to provide much insight about the wine. And the wine...the wine was not superb. Oddly, some of the highlights were the bargain non-vintage bottlings. Many of the estate wines are subpar with egregious QPR. (This is actually borne out on the CellarTracker aggregate score, which is the same for McGregor as for Heron Hill at 86.5. By comparison, HJ Wiemer has an aggregate score of 89.1.) We would not recommend this operation to anyone serious about wine.
Great wine, fabulous views of the lake. Well worth a visit.
Amazing view and delicious wine. Can't beat it!
Great wines, location and vibe!
Wine was excellent but it was a rather underwhelming wine tasting experience compared to what’s around.
Nice to sit for a tasting and enjoy a complimentart small plate. Beautiful view!
We don't get up to the Finger Lakes area often, but when we do we make a point of spending some time at McGregor's vineyard. We always enjoy their reds and always leave with a few bottles for future enjoyment.
I have been going to their winery several years, the wine is top notch fantastic. Now since the virus , I joined the wine club and get exceptional wines delivered right to my door. I tested every wine they make , visit and see for yourself. Thank you McGregor Vineyard. Barbara Francis Mrykalo
Amazing wine, great tasting room and extremely friendly staff make this our favorite winery in all the finger lakes.
The people are awesome. The view is amazing. The wines are as well! Cheers!
Over the last the 30 years, my wife and I have toured wineries in the Finger Lakes on many, many different occasions. All told, we've probably been to close to 80 of them, including more than a few that are no longer in business. In that time, we've consistently found McGregor wines to be among the best the region produces. The winery's flagship offering, Black Russian Red, is, IMHO, one of the best red wines produced anywhere in North America, and is the only truly premiere red still available for well under $100 a bottle. Their cabernet franc based Bordeaux style blend, Rob Roy, is also a first rate, serious wine that compares favorably to St. Emilions that retail for 2 to 3 times the cost. The winery also produces a very good Cabernet Franc Reserve -- a good, and in some vintages great everyday red wine -- and Pino Noirs that are very light but which pair wonderfully with blacked or grilled salmon steaks. McGregor also produces excellent Rieslings and lean, supple Chardonnays, as do a number of other Finger Lakes wineries -- Riesling being the region's premiere grape. That said, THE reason to visit this winery is the red wine program.
Beautiful location and fabulous wines!
The winery is up the hill with an amazing view, the environment was fantastic, the wines are amazing, and it was well worth the drive up there. Also, Bridget was amazing with fantastic knowledge of the wines and recommend amazing ones that she thought I would enjoy.
Great wine tasting and great charcuterie board. Especially loved the 2020 Reserve Chardonnay and of course the Black Russian
My first time here, but with friends who have come for 30 years. Amazing wines in a non-pretentious atmosphere. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable.
Always a fun experience! The 'pourer's' are very knowledgable about the wines - if you are looking for a bit of the background. The owner - John - is usually on hand too and can tell you many stories about the winery...SO INTERESTING!!. Plus all the events --the barrel tastings, the Black Russian bash, picnic, etc. And the ADOPT-A-BARREL is SO unique!! and well worth it!. McGregor Winery is DEFINATELY worthy of a stop on anyone's wine tours!!
Excellent experience. Friendly service and many good wine offerings.
My Favorite Winery! Excellent Reds and Whites!
We love McGregors Vineyard. Joined their wine club and always visit when we are vacationing on Keuka Lake. They produce some great wines especially their Black Russian. The wine tastings are relaxed and informative with a nice assortment of cheese and crackers as well as chocolates to compliment the wines you are tasting. Definitely pay them a visit if you get a chance.
Amazing red wines. LOVE the Black Russian Red
Great wines, our server was very nice.Love their dry reds, nice porch.
Had the most enjoyable wine and food pairing at McGregor's Vineyard this evening. Food and wine was superb as well as the company. Thank you so much for an incredible experience.
Always a pleasure!
A bit off the beaten path, McGregor's is well worth seeking out. The tasting room has a beautiful view of Keuka Lake, and comfortable tasting rooms where you sit at tables rather than stand at a bar. The staff are friendly and accommodating. None of which would matter much unless the wine is good...which it definitely is, especially their signature Rob Roy Red and Black Russian Red.
Very different and enjoyable approach to wine tasting.
The wine! The Food! The people!,top notch.
Really good wine across the board. Reds are particularly good, if you like dry. Black Russian red 36 month is stellar.
McGregor is a stop we always make when visiting Keuka! Between it's their amazing wine and pesto dip, and the later hours (and amazing staff!), McGregor's is seriously a one stop shop... with an incredible view! 5 stars isn't really enough but it's all Google will give me to work with lol so it'll do!
The wine and the staff are outstanding! They go out of their way to make you feel a part of their family. I don't go that often, but they remember my name and act like you're a neighbor stopping over for a visit. Their picnic for club members is the highlight of the year- their wonderful wines to drink all afternoon, appetizers and grilled corn, a fun blind wine tasting and topped off with a pig roast all while overlooking beautiful Keuka Lake!
This is one of our favorite wineries in the Finger Lakes. We’re attracted to wineries that provide a more personal tasting experience. McGregor’s has a unique environment, where you can sit down to a few choice samples of treats to enjoy during your wine tasting. Their wines are also unique and wonderful, especially if you enjoy dark, dry reds. We’ve been “McGregor Clan” members since 2007.
Love McGregor! Consistently good wine and service. And open all year!
Great place. I like that they include a complimentary snack plate with their tastings. Pick up some of the pesto spread to bring home!
Enjoyed visiting here, great wines and a very pleasant atmosphere. Perfect place to sample delicious wines on a summer day. Really appreciated the knowledge and friendliness of the staff; Laura, in particular, was very helpful. Will visit again. Highly recommend.
Nice little winery, make reservations
Great wines, views and gift shop. We are members and went this year to the Barrel Tasting...just wonderful. Got to pre order our wines for when they are released, so looking forward to that! Become a member, you won't regret anything.
Outstanding reds and whites. Been club member for long time. Only club that I am a member. Scott Reed
We visited this winery last week and were surprised to see that they charged $10 per bottle corkage fee as no other wineries in the area added this charge. We did not find out about the fee until afterwards and they do not advertise nor advise you in advance.
Looking forward to being there soon! It is our destination spot when we come to the Finger Lakes. Black Russian Red = Awesome!
Really nice vineyard and wines with a fantastic view of Keuka lake.
Woman at the front desk has an attitude
We are big fans of McGregor Vineyards, their staff and most deliciously their wines. Love their reds - Black Russian Red, Pinto Noir and Rob Roy! And you’ll find their whites fantastic as well. Year after year we are extremely happy being McGregor Klan members and enjoy every time we stop by!????????????????????????????
My husband and I stopped here and we were so glad we did! The wines were excellent and staff friendly. We ended up purchasing several wines to bring home. We decided to make another trip up in the fall and will not be going home empty handed!
The wine is some of the very best ! You are welcomed to a amazing tasting and treated like family. Being a Clan Club member makes sure we get their wines since it is quite a trip for us to get there.
Awesome place. Good wine. Friendly people
Great wines. Great pourer. Worth a stop
While we arrived 5 minutes after the supposed time for tasting the staff was pouring a tasting for a full table of customers. We were told very abuptly that the last tasting was at 4:15. The young woman in the back area did pour us a taste. We did not feel comfortable buying what we could not taste. When driving 4 hours and arriving 5 minutes too late we were obviously extremely disappointed.
We went by for a tasting. The room us very comfortable, you taste the wines at a table like in a restaurant. Several of the wines are quite good.
Great experience, excellent wines, friendly staff and atmosphere. After a few vineyard stops, this was our last and well worth the stop. We purchased bottles of whites, red and the desert/sweet wine and are enjoying it. Worth the stop, will definitely return. Highly recommend. Best regards The Ferreira’s
McGregor is one of our favorite Finger Lakes wineries, and actually, ranks near the top of all of the wineries we have visited, including California and France. The tasting experience is very well done in a picturesque setting overlooking The Bluff on Keuka Lake, and they provide a nice tray of small nibbles to go along with the wine. Our last visit was in April 2021 with Covid restrictions still in effect, but they managed the process to provide a great experience. Like several Finger Lakes wineries, they make great Rieslings, but their age-worthy reds really stand out, including Saperavi, Pinot Noir, and their Bordeaux-style Rob Roy blend.
Excellent bbq with very friendly staff!
They have some of the most unique wines in the finger lakes. They are our favorite winery. Been going there for years. Always look forward to a bottle of their wine. Great tasting room and always friendly. Give them a try. You will love it.
Good wine, friendly staff, nice Ambience, and a beautiful view! Well worth the trip.
Great wine. Wonderful staff.
The wines here are very good and it has a great atmosphere
Perfect place! Owners and stuff are very helpful, great selection of white wine. We were doing wine tasting for the first time but enjoyed it very much. Strongly recommend! P.S. Gorgeous views!!! :)
Great place, friendly staff and the wine is fantastic!
Great
The tastings were phenomenal. If you enjoy chardonnay then definitely consider trying it. The service was excellent. The view was extraordinary.
Great place very satisfied.People were extremely nice!
Like the tasting/glass of wine inside and outside. Service is always very good. We have never had a bad experience. Enjoy opportunity to have light food available. Enjoy not having to stand up at a bar and able sit down. Didn't enjoy being rushed last time. We enjoy drinking a bottle without pressure to leave. It was always that way before
Beautiful view of keuka lake! Great wines! They even let you try Black Russian red ! Great snack plate!! Our favorite winery!
