Here you will see the reviews of people like you who consume the products of Calamus Estate Winery (Winery) near York Factory (Canada).
At the moment this business gets a score of 4.6 stars out of 5 and the rating was based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average score it has is basically the best one, and it's based on a high number of scores, so we can think that the rating is quite reliable. If many people have bothered to leave their feddback when they are satisfied, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to put reviews when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Winery is included in the category of Wine store.
Always a pleasure to visit
As the wine tasting concluded, our pre-ordered meals and additional wine orders arrived, immediately followed by our new server, Sarah alerting us to our cheque being ready. We found this odd as our meals had just arrived. That was the first of many requests to pay our bill within a half hour time frame. While eating our meals and trying to have a good time as not to further cause any disappointment to the birthday girl, Sarah the server, additionally requested silence from our table as the private event, which turned out to be a wedding ceremony was about to begin. Annoyed but understanding the significance of a wedding ceremony, we respectfully departed the barn area to allow the ceremony some privacy and headed to the vineyard to take pictures. Once the ceremony concluded we returned to our table were told we needed to leave the winery immediately. Apparently, we had exceeded our allotted sitting time at the winery and had to leave so they could accommodate another group. This came as a surprise to us as we still had unopened bottles of wine, we did not have dessert nor did we present our gifts to the birthday girl. Additionally, why was our group permitted to purchase more wine if our allotted sitting time was approaching its conclusion? At this point I had reached my limit and asked to speak to the manager. It is important to emphasize that during the two times I spoke with Calamus Estate Winery employees, I was not told of a seating time frame. While waiting for the manager to arrive we tried to salvage the remaining time we had. A server, Rick, who until this point had not been dealings with us, was kind enough to bring us a fan and ice for the bottles of wine we had just purchased. This was enough for Karen, another employee, who also had no dealings with us to yelled at Rick “DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY ICE” and proceeded to ask members of our group if they were ”guests at the wedding?” that we “aren’t welcome at this wedding” and “how much longer do you plan on staying here?” Karen’s behaviour, which was mostly caught on camera was so vile and despicable that we couldn’t believe she was speaking to us, paying patrons. It was infuriating and embarrassing to say the least. We packed up our belongings and were leaving when the manager and owner approached us. We explained what happened and were told that the area that we were sitting in closes at 5:00 PM and that we needed to vacate. First, the employees at Calamus themselves set up our group in the barn area because they couldn’t accommodate us in the regular wine tasting area. Second, the website states that they are open until 8:00 PM. Third, our reservation was for 3:00 PM, two hours hardly being enough time for wine tasting, dinner and dessert. Fourth, we were told by Sarah that we needed to vacate to so they could set up for another group. Anyone could understand that many things didn’t appear right with this situation. From the very beginning, our group felt like second class citizens while visiting this winery. It was very obvious to us that other guests’ experiences took precedence over our group. They were treated with kindness and respect while our entire visit was met with us having to compromise and disregard. What was also very apparent was that Calamus overbooked their reservations on this particular day and our group paid the price for their shortcomings. We also paid with our dignity and respect as management offered us vouchers to use towards our next visit. I cannot speak to what was happening behind the scenes at Calamus Estate Winery but only to my own experience. We were made to feel unwelcome and were further insulted by numerous employees and even the owner and for those reasons we will not be using our vouchers to visit Calamus Estate Winery ever again! Continued from Candice Singh review If you scroll down to her name . Very disappointed especially my first time at a winery.
Beautiful Location! Food was bad; pizza tasted like a cardboard box & charcuterie board was made with black & green cheeses. I enjoyed the off-dry Gewurtztraminer, Pino Gris, and “Double Barrel.”
Very good VQA wines. Balls Falls white is my favorite!
Calamus was the venue of choice for our wedding this past year in September 2019. We elected the stargazing package and couldn't be more pleased with the results. Having the added bonuses of the Chronos observatory and bonfire as available amenities for our guest was awesome! The staff at Calamus were very kind and friendly to work with - you really get the feeling of being amongst family. Since taking ownership, Peter and Rose are really building something special that cannot really be described but experienced instead. The wine is also really great! My wife is a big fan of the barrel kissed chardonnay and I'm a huge fan of the double barreled Cab Sauvignon. We had the 2016 Meritage blend as our red table wine and our guest really enjoyed during dinner. Feastivities catering also does a great job with events and the local pizza bistro on site goes nicely with a few glasses (or bottles) of wine!! Highly recommend for a wine tour, bistro vist and wedding venue. Sarah (wedding planner) is great to work with! Photographers credit: @photodotimages
Loved the Cab Franc and really enjoyed every wine we tried there. They have a gorgeous roof top patio where you are welcome to bring your own picnic basket while enjoying some of their wine. Stargazers will love the observatory as well. Right next to the very scenic Balls Falls.
Cool winery. Loved the Riesling 2020 vintage.!!
Friendly staff, awesome wine, and great location close to local trails.
Dan's the man!
Calamus lies on a beautiful property, with the upper deck area overlooking their stunning vineyard! Their wines are amazing, especially the barrel aged reds...my personal favourite. The owners are extremely diligent and have made every experience I have had here wonderful, from day to day activity to large scale events. Their stargazing nights are a truly unmatched, along with everything else they have to offer.
Went for stargazing night. Dinner was amazing. Beautiful setup. Got to see Saturn, Jupiter, the moon, and the Neowise comet through the telescope. Would definitely go back.
Thanks to Pat and Derek and the Calamus staff for welcoming my family and friends for an evening of excellent wine, music and star gazing!!!
We've been to Calamus a couple times and have left completely satisfied (10/10). The wines are AMAZING and Karen is the best. She is so passionate and professional and will happily will take you through a whole tasting so you can experience all the beautiful wines this wine maker has to offer. 1000% recommend this winery! Enjoy :)
Awesome wines
Absolutely rude staff. The service was not up to standards. We had a wine tasting and asked for the fireside experience they gave us our wine and we went outside to wait for someone to turn on the fire when the girl came out she said I'll see if I can turn on the fire sometimes it doesn't work this is why we don't have it online to reserve in a very rude tone. Then we had some time and went next door to their 2027 wine tasting room to taste their wine I showed my proof of vaccination and my sister showed hers hers is the original proof because she had trouble uploading the qr code to her phone and had informed the girl but they said they can't accept it and turned her away 2 days prior to when all restrictions are lifted. I was absolutely appalled my brother uses his old proof of vaccination to enter Canada and they can't even accept her proof I also work at the hospital and we still accept the original proof, they didn't even scan my QR code they just looked at it. Absolutely unprofessional. UPDATE ON THE RESPONSE: It is the law you ask for proof of vaccination it doesn't have to be the QR code. They made it seem like it was the only option or else we can't accept you. Their staff said all restaurants and wineries accept the QR Code only, however none of the 15 other places we went that weekend said that nor did they give us a hard time they accepted her type of proof of vaccination. And tell me why accept my QR code and not the other way what is the difference... because you can scan it?? Because I know mine wasn't scanned and it was accepted.
Somewhat hidden, off the road, jewel of a place to have a relaxing time while tasting wine or having lunch on summer weekends. Love it!!
I was at Calamus for a wedding this past weekend and it was amazing! The service was great. The food was so delicious. Who would have thought a watermelon, goat cheese salad could taste so good? The venue is so pretty and inviting. Little white lights, a bonfire, gorgeous view. Wonderful place!
I'm a current bride suffering from the effects of COIVD -19. I wanted to plan my last minute wedding at this venue but after hearing what my friends are currently going through with this venue. I have steered very clear. My poor friends are now on the hook for a $5000 deposit that was given and have been told they wont be getting anything back. In a time when you think the wedding industry would be kind and understanding to us, its just adding to our stress. Peter the owner will sell you the vision you have dreamed of.... but you'll end up left with a wedding nightmare. AVOID BOOKING YOUR WEDDING HERE AT ALL COST !!! if I could have put a negative star rating I would have .
Friendly, knowledgeable staff, nice wines, and a great location!
Soooooo good!!!!!
Great experience!
Absolutely stunning. Our experience for my brother's wedding was top notch. The venue was beautiful, well set up and spacious. The staff were friendly, efficient, and readily available if anything was needed. There was an abundance of space to host a party. From the observatory where we could look up at the stars, to the beautiful bon fire outside, we were blown away. The winery was clean and well maintained throughout our event. I unfortunately cannot post any pictures because of the wedding itself, however I would recommend this place for any type of function you want to do. We were beyond impressed.
Nice place!
Such a beautiful place, great food, wine and views. A real gem
To the 4 employees chatting and ignoring us on Sunday May 26 at 4PM, here’s a tip: at least greet people instead of acting like you’re too busy to be courteous. Stood at the tasting bar waiting for something and no staff even acknowledged us. Wines may have been great, but this level of customer service will prevent us from determining that. There are plenty of other wineries that know the value of customer greeting and courteous behavior.
Very nice quaint little wine store. Great as an event venue for small parties and quality services. The tours and hike are educational too.
I attended my niece's wedding here recently. Though the venue is a very beautiful there were many issues that arose throughout the reception. There are pros but I am going to list cons first. CONS: 1. The braised short ribs, which were an upgrade, were either 2/3 fat, too rare, stiff and too hard to cut. They served it with a butter knife instead of a steak knife. While watching main plates being taken away both myself and the Bride's mother noticed most guests did not touch the meat. 2. The wedding cake was not cut and served to the guests. Huge oversight by the staff and DJ. $600 cake went to waste. 3. They were promised cigars were to be passed around to guests and bourbon. DJ announced late in the evening to come to bar and get one. Cigar bar which was supposed to be upstairs. 4. The pizza and fruit served at the end of the evening was served on the same tray. The pizza tasted like frozen pizza. 5. The DJ had an agenda of things to do and forgot to mention the smores and fire pit. Basket of smores went to waste. 6. DJ forgot to mention to guests to take flowers home on the table. He was supposed to decide how to distribute them. Dropped the ball. Guests were leaving and Bride's Mother had to tell guests to take flowers. 7. The staff was removing the wine glasses from the table at 10:00. Guests were still drinking. Bride's mother had to ask for glasses. 8. No mention of garden games outside. 9. DJ Ryan disappeared for a while many things were not done on his agenda of things to do. He dropped the ball. 10. The desserts were not great. The apple strudel was not fresh, very hard. PROS: 1. The venue and grounds are beautiful. 2. The serving staff were great and really tried hard to please. 3. The butternut squash ravioli was amazing. 4. The horderves were delicious. 5. Bathrooms are clean. 6. The outdoor/indoor dining experience was amazing. 7. Delicious wine. The Rose, Meritage Reserve and Pinot Grigio were very popular. Excellent wines. 8. The wine tasting bar experience for guests was fun up on the top patio. 9. The salad was very good. We were very lucky that the guests attending the wedding were such a great group of people that they made the evening special but the guest experience which was promised, upgraded and paid for, could have made it extra special. The ball was dropped on so many things that were promised to the Bride and Groom and the Bride's parents. The quality of food should have been as promised especially "The Main". Their saving grace is that the venue is beautiful. Overall the guests had a wonderful time!
Stargazing was amazing
What a lovely little winery with fantastic wines, a great little kitchen and a lovely space. I can totally see having a wedding or event here. It's intimate and the wines are reasonable and easy to drink.
Nice, smaller winery away from many of the others available in Niagara Region.
What a fabulous place. We went for a stargazer dinner. The food was incredible. The owner Peter makes you feel like family. It was such an amazing evening. We absolutely loved it.
Great atmosphere and service. The entertainer today was Dylan Hennessy and he was fantastic! Wine, pizza, music and a good ol' game of corn hole. Great day!
A big thank you goes out to Makayla and her team for making our wedding nothing short of amazing!! Calamus is a true hidden gem perfect for a wedding! It was a pleasure working with Makayla from start to finish! She was attentive from inquiry phase, signing and of course the actually wedding day attending to our every need. Thanks again Calamus for hosting our dream wedding!
Wow what a venue and the food and wine are awesome
Attending a dinner at Calamus is like going to a family dinner! Peter has this down packed! Went to the Paella Night last evening. The apps, main course and desert were absolutely delicious, along with the themed entertainment. Above all, that fabulous wine! Peter never forgets to end the evening by offering all a beautiful shot to clear the palate! Don't waste your time in NOTL! Come to a place that welcomes you and makes you feel like family! A class "A" establishment. Am fortunate to have this place in my 'backyard'! Looking forward to next Saturday! Cheers to Calamus! Bravo!
The staff and winemaker were very informative and helpful! Calamus and 2027 have a great story and this winery is a hidden gem of 20 Mile Bench.
Love this place!!! Good food and great scenery!!
Great experience. We were able to see the wine cellar with the large wine barrels and sample wine directly from the barrel. A great experience.
Wonderful visit today. The lady who served us was super nice and made this tasting experience very fin. We bought a few bottles, but we picked a cold one to drink outside with a picnic.
Our first time here and it won't be the last. Scenery is beautiful, the service was attentive, fast and friendly and the food was delicious.
Excellent venue. Friendly and efficient staff. Great setting. Winery two thumbs up.
Love this place! No where can you get a better deal for a bottle of wine and a pizza with a beautiful view overlooking vineyards! And this place waives the corking fee as well as allows you to enjoy their wines anywhere on the premise. Most wineries don’t allow you to do that so that’s a plus for sure. Relaxing atmosphere and kudos to the attentive staff!
This hidden gem was a surprise during my hike on the Bruce Trail. The deck is beautiful for the Golden Hour!!! Rosalind (I hope I spelled her name correctly...) was a fabulous and I will return soon. Thank you so much!!!
(Translated) Great Ice Wine, this place is to visit even in December where you can see some frozen grapes in the vitte. Great ice wine, a place to visit even in December, where you can still meet some frozen bunches in the vine plant. (Original) Great Ice Wine, this place is to visit especially even in December where you can see some grapes frozen in the vitte. Grandioso vino di ghiaccio , posto per visitare anche in dicembre, dove puoi incontrare ancora alcuni grappoli gelati nella pianta di vite.
We were in chatting with the owner's daughter. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. She made us feel welcome and we had a great time sampling some of their wines. A great little spot to stop at! They have a nice patio where you enjoy your wine, overlooking their vineyards. Nice relaxed atmosphere. I would go again!
Wow. Great venue. Picturesque
Love this place...!!!
Calamus is a beautiful winery with an amazing covered patio and large upper deck area. Be sure to take a glass of wine outside to enjoy the view. We had the chance to meet the owner Peter who was really down to earth and gave us recommendations for our trip to Napa and Sonoma. Would highly recommend a tasting here.
My spouse and I visited this winery as a part of a tour in early July and had a wonderful experience! The Australian gentleman who spent some time with us was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and went above and beyond for us. Wines were excellent and the owner even took the time to greet us!
Magical place. Book one of the dinner events with star gazing if you can. Staff are good, food is great, atmosphere can't be beat. Owner is very nice. We went for an event with at least 100 people and the beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly for all of us!! Wine is nice and well priced
I was very disappointed. We had a reservation and were seated right away on the raised patio. Beautiful views but zero shade baking in the full sun. We ordered salad and pizza. Took them 15 minutes to bring a beer. They brought a salad after 25 minutes and it wilted in the heat while we waited another 30 minutes (almost an hour total)for the pizza. We were not approached by wait staff to explain the extreme delay. Two other tables seated after us were served pizza before us. And we were charged $6 for water. The bottle of wine we ordered was ok but nothing to write home about. The wait staff were nowhere to be found for most of our visit. I gave two stars because the food, when it eventually arrived, was good.
Great selection of red wines! Make sure you pick up Meritage and Merlot!
Excellent experience. Thanks Karen and Dan!
Amazing place to visit! Amazing wine!
Wonderful event planned last night from the staff, tappas were amazing-one after the other!! Top marks for the service. We can't wait for the next event.
Great wines, great patio!
Peter and his staff are amazing! The view of the vineyard is gorgeous! There is even a secret little hidden trail to hike... don't forget the wine you'll get thirsty with all that walking!
I have never had a bad experience at Calamus. I have been from tastings, to lunch. Charcuterie, even a wedding I attended. What a beautiful site and experience. The wine is fantastic. Thank you Peter and the staff.
Amazing food and wine
Calamus is a place you can't go wrong if you want a mix of outdoor and indoor experience. It lies on a huge property and there are lots of places to sit around - the open space between vineyards, a deck/patio and gorgeous indoor seating. The owner was on property to greet everyone and added a nice personal touch. We got a cute private spot between vineyards and recreated our honeymoon date. Btw do try their in house rosaline wine - you won't regret it :)
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and good wine!! Small selection of gifties too! I recommend adding this winery on your next visit to Niagara!
Great wine and tasting room. Spectacular views! I wish this place was open for events when i got married because it is absolutely charming, all year round!
Amazing wine and good prices!
Beautiful location. Nice views. Lunch was great on the patio. Well spaced tables. My friend made reservations on line from their website, which they could not "find" when we arrived with our 2 senior citizen mothers, both using canes. They did not offer either of them even a seat in the shade while we waited for an alternate table. She sent a copy of the reservation to the manager, and offered a tasting in compensation which was nice. I would have rated higher if this was handled differently on the day of.
Nice gem! If you find it, you've struck gold for wineries in the area. Pizza was really good and i can see why it's so popular. Lots of toppings on each and cooked to perfection. Very social twist with the beautiful property with Jenga and games, fire pit and observatory for those event days. When you're waiting for your pizza, lots of selfie opportunities. It gets busy so arrive early for lunch as late comers will see a full parking lot on weekends. Will visit again.
Beautiful area and the stargazing is a great option to enjoy your wine with. I want to go on one of their nature walks someday.
Friendly staff and as usual great wines.
This is another hidden gem up close to Balls Falls Conservation area. Wonderful charcuterie boards and brick oven pizza. Their whiskey barrel aged red is not to be missed along with their barrel aged Chardonnay, at unbelievable price points, this is a place to fill up your wine cellar before the holidays. Be sure to take a look around the property, enjoy the views from the deck, and if you can get in for a Star Gazing Dinner, book it, you won't regret it. We stop here EVERY time we come to the region.
What a pretty place and the staff were wonderful. Thanks Chrystal for accommodating us for lunch today. Your kindness in a tough situation will not be forgotten.
Amazing wines great pizza so glad we came across this place
great environment and a lovely owner. Their night time viewings of the starts is a must. Enjoy a picnic with some wine, cake and games!
We are members, so call me bias, or just recognizing how much I like this place. Great wine, tasting room is smaller than others but that just makes it more intimate. The bisto is nice and the owner is a great guy. Now have fire tables for semi out door enjoyment.
If you're going to NOTL, Go here en route.
Karen was very informative the tasting was wonderful, I got to bring home an amazing Chardonnay and ice wine :)
Amazing little winery. You cannot experience everything they have to offer in one visit. If you have the ability get a mix case of wine, they have more award winners then other wineries have wines. We'll be back again and again.
Good wine. Interesting barn Astronomy a bonus!
One of the best wines around Niagara, and the views are spectacular!
Pathstone charity event was awesome. Cute venue. Would be awesome for a a small intimate wedding.
Beautiful wedding venue! Love the option of having a covered yet outdoor space. As a wedding photographer, shooting here is a treat and the close location to Balls Falls as a first look location if photos need to be taken earlier is great. Every wedding here is always relaxed and fun with the bonfire!
Second visit to Calamus. First under the new ownership. Served by Dan, a very friendly, well informed, and entertaining host. Tried a few whites and reds. Barrel Kissed Chardonnay 2017 was excellent, Merlot 2013 quite good, and all wines enjoyable. Excellent price points as we have always enjoyed at Calamus. Treated to complementary potato soup as well as Cheesecake bites. Wonderful visit, couldn't imagine how it could have been any better. Highly recommend a visit if you're in the area and looking for a top notch winery visit.
In anticipation of my best friend’s milestone birthday, I researched and subsequently booked a wine tasting at Calamus Estate Winery. Four weeks prior to our event, I made the reservation for 10. At the time of the initial reservation, the employee confirmed my reservation and reassured me that the reservation for my party of 10 wouldn’t be an issue as we were adhering to their Covid-19 guidelines. Due to the escalating parameters around the developing Covid-19 pandemic, one week prior to the event, I decided to call Calamus Estate Winery to confirm our reservation. I was informed that the venue would now also be hosting a private event during the same time of our booking. When asked if they would still be able to accommodate my group, I was assured that my reservation would still be honoured. Being a business professional myself, I offered to pre-order our group’s meals prior to arriving in the hope that this would assist with a flawless day. The employee at Calamus accepted this suggestion and even commented on how this would be helpful. From the inception, I quickly noticed that there were going to be some difficulties to our day, but was optimistic as not to ruin the mood. We were immediately informed of another party of 3 who were already wine tasting and they would only be able to accommodate only 7 out of the 10 people from our group. The others would have to wait outside or alternatively we could spilt our group into two, but the tastings would have to take place in different locations. Seeing that this was an event for a birthday celebration we all wanted to enjoy together, we didn’t want to be separated. We opted to wait and experience the tour together. During the initial booking and follow up call, Calamus Estate Winery neglected to inform me of the 10 person limit to for the tours and never mentioned the possibility of splitting our group. Since they were unable to accommodate our entire group in the wine tasting room, we were setup and attended by a male server in their barn area where our wine tasting was done at our table. This was not our first time at a winery and we all have an understanding of how these types of tastings are done, keeping in mind that each establishment is unique and have their own practices. However, this particular server would pour the sample, then immediately leave to get the next bottle, not taking the time to explain anything about the product other than the colour or even asking our thoughts. We were also told that we would be required to use the same glasses for all of the three wine tastings. Which came as a shock to us as we imagine this drastically changing the taste of each wine sample. However, we maintained our composure and didn’t complain. After the second wine sample, another server came to take our wine order, to which we informed her that our wine tasting session was still in progress and didn’t know what we wanted to order. This prompted the male server to return with the third sample. Everything felt disorganized and hurried.
Wines are nice, owners and staff are super friendly. Beautiful location and views of the vineyard. They do weddings but they are quite pricey. Would recommend going for a tasting or their wine and pizza deal!
Did an early wine tasting. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Wines are excellent with several options. Definitely a place to visit again.
A unique place to go and taste wine even if you are not familiar with the concept. The staff is lovely and funny. Perfect for a date after hiking and watching the balls waterfalls. It is a must. So cheers!
Thanks, Pat and the ladies from Comfort Kitchen for the wonderful Easter luncheon for my family...the food was great and, of course, the wines from our favourite neighbouring winery topped it off. The unique private room made for a perfect afternoon with family! Happy Easter, Tom & Nancy
Enjoyed it very much. The Riesling is great
Amazing winery. Friendliest staff, family run, and you really do feel like family when you go there. Enjoyed the Pinot Gris and balls falls white wine, very affordable and tasty wines. Thank you to everyone at Calamus, already looking forward to my next visit back.
Loved the wines and the ambience in the tasting room. Beautiful location. A wedding was just starting and it looked wonderful.
X Excellent wines and wonderful people
Great winery, love the patio, great blends. Must stop here.
The view was great. The pizza yummy & the wine was wonderful. Safe feeling inside & out on the patio. Bought some wine. Enjoyed the time spent there. Friendly people.
We got married here in July and it was a wonderful experience. Makayla and Peter did everything they could to make our day special and stress free. DJ Ryen was great fun to work with. All the wait staff and bartenders went above and beyond to make sure everyone was served. The food was one of the best wedding meals we have had, and our guests raved about it. The pie bar was delicious. The property and gardens were beautiful. We had our reception in the barn, which was perfect for a summer night. It really only needed minimal decorations, with the nice views of the vineyard, the twinkle lights and the wine barrels. We rented the Jordan Manor from Peter as well, which was a great place to get ready with the bridal party before. We could not have chosen a better venue to get married at or better people to work with! Alison & Donnie
You can't get much more scenic than this winery. From the original barn storefront to the rustic & chic Bistro patio, Calamus is an escape from reality. This is a must stop on any Niagara/Bench region wine escape!
Memorable enjoyable beautiful venue
Wife and I just did one of their “date nights” and it was amazing. Fun delicious food, wine, scenery, live music and super friendly staff as always in wine country. Looking for a fun, different night out with your S/o or friends this is it
Had a great experience here this spring. The lovely woman assisting us with our tasting was gracious, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Loved the wine, and thought it was a great value. Will be back, and interested to see what they do here, as they are expanding.
Nice winery, scenic location, good wines.
Balls. Falls. Red. Get it ... You won't regret it!
I cannot express enough how wonderful all the staff at Calamus & Festivities are!! The property itself is so beautiful and welcoming and the food was beyond amazing!! You made our daughter and son in law's wedding day perfect in every way from the advance preparations until the moment we left after the day was done! We can't thank you enough for making such happy memories for all of us, we were overwhelmed with all the positive feedback from family and friends!
Calamus hosted my son's wedding on Thanksgiving weekend. Staff were amazing. They very accommodating and went out if their way to make the day extra special in these challenging times.
Hidden gem very nice!
Beautiful view of the vineyard via the wineries very large patio. Visited Calamus on Friday and enjoyed a bottle of their rose, tasty pizza and a cheese and meat board. Not as fancy as some of the other wineries in the region but very welcoming with great service and tasty food.
Fantastic time !!!! What a beautiful place
This venue is beyond beautiful. I was blown away by the breath taking views, the beautiful barn location where you can hold events, and the cute wine cellar where you taste and purchase their fantastic wines. We went to a retirement party there in Novemeber and can't wait to go back during warmer weather to experience more of what this venue has to offer. Koodos to the wonderful staff, and welcoming owner and his daughter for hosting a wonderful event
You have to take the time and visit this place not on a weekend. We were there during the week and what a wonderful experience. We were told weekends are very busy. We met a young couple who were having their wedding there. What a beautiful venue for a wedding. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary so Calamus just made the day that more special.
Local winery with a farm to table approach. People who truly belive in their brand.
Great tour of the vineyard and winery.
Beautiful place, delicious food and the wine is fabulous
(Translated) Very nice and good wine (Original) Très beau et bon vin
A great winery. They are doing some great things here. Add them to your spring tour.
Friendly service
We had a very lovely day at the winery. We purchased a bottle of wine (free corkage) and sat out in the vineyard and enjoyed everything the winery had to offer. A great bottle of wine, a fantastic back drop, some bocce, a little corn hole, a winery tour in a side by side and a great family day on the bench. Thanks to all the staff that impacted our day. We will return with friends and family again and again.
Very nice winery, worth the trip to see it.
Great atmosphere for casual drinks with friends, great wine with very friendly staff.
Wonderful hospitality with wine samples! Super!
Even though their website showed they were open and all signage directed us to the shop/tasting room we were greeted with a very sharp "We are closed! You have to leave!! We are having a private event!" As I tried to apologize for interrupting,...again I was told "You have to leave! We are closed!" Don't worry, I won't bother you ever again.
Wonderful place. Worth checking out especially if you are looking for a wedding/party venue. Perfect for a leisurely visit as well. Fantastic wines. Friendly and knowledgable staff, definitely going back!
Beautiful, intimate, friendly, good wine and great ambiance
Picked up a few bottles haven't tried yet they were just bottled they have a new wine maker since I was there last always enjoyed there chardonnay hope there new wines are just as good they have a nice small venue you can rent.
We had an incredible evening for their Stargazing and Dinner under the stars. The food was amazing, the service was on point, the music was well suited for the evening- and the wine was perfect, as usual. The owner was involved throughout the evening - but not in a welcome, buy our wine way. He really did make us feel like family - the fact he was carrying bug spray in his back pocket should really tell you all you need to know. I also felt the measures for Covid prevention were completely reasonable, and at no time did I feel unsafe or uncomfortable. I highly recommend.
Beautiful farmhouse location, 2027 Cellars is adjoining, tasty rosee from a can, number of really big and bold reds, the double barrel cab Sauv might not be for everyone but it's worth trying so you know. The regular cab Sauv is excellent and their Meritage is quite nice as well. The cheeses are delicious and the people are really friendly - stop by if you are touring the Bench
Great experience cool looking building staff was exceptionally friendly just waiting to try the wine
Love visiting this winery. They were very welcoming.
Verry good wine
Went to this winery when it was shown as open on the google hours, along with open on the website. Drove 30 minutes each way to get here, only to see that it is closed. Was super excited to try the food/wine, but didn't even get a chance. Will not be wasting more time coming back.
Great place to get wine. They also have a nice patio and host weddings there. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable. I have been going there for some time. Balls Falls is just around the corner nice place to visit.
