I used to enjoy it new owners food was started to stick to pans and got there at 520 PM and so not sure how long it was sitting there. Check out your noodle dishes carefully I had a piece of steel stacher in my they only took off 5 dollars. Don't think I will be going back

This place is no longer called Five Star Buffet but "The New Bamboo Gardens Buffet" and is under new management again. It was obvious of this fact with how poorly ran it was. The wait staff was always busy with stirring up the dishes and sweeping the floor. However the giant glass door on the way in had so many greasy finger prints it was disgusting and almost made me not want to eat there, that needs to be cleaned. The food was terrible, we were there at 12:15 and there was no rice left for starters. The wonton soup looked like water with noodles and tasted the same but with a bit if salt, the onions to put in the soup were far from fresh. As I went in to try some of the other dishes I noticed all of the pans were floating on the water in the heating table which was odd. The chicken balls were tasteless even with sweet and sour sauce, the BBQ chicken on a skewer was so dry it looked like it was deep fried in batter. The low mein noodles tasted off and I didn't end up eating them. The salad bar was pitiful, there was white spots in the fake bacon bits so I avoided that. The cold vegetables and cold salads looked so unappealing it made me afraid I might get sick, I wish I took a picture but I didn't want to look too obvious. For instance the carrot salad was a tiny bit left in the bottom of a bowl and the bowl was 1/2 full of what looked like a vinegrette dressing that had other stuff floating in it. The best things I ate there was the lemon chicken, the fried potato wedges and the store bought desserts (cream puffs). The waitress told us it was under new management and it had been a rough start, but it was better than it was a couple weeks ago. I would advise anyone wanting a decent Chinese food buffet to go somewhere else till this place gets their stuff together. Thankfully it was only just under $11 for lunch but for what it was even that was too much. There are way better Chinese food restaurants in town that I have small or no dining rooms that I would rather buy and eat in my car then go back here anytime soon.

Worst food and experience ever! Watched cross contamination everywhere! Cold food, dry, empty containers and wouldn't bring out fresh food! Burnt rice in the containers and they mixed in "new" rice so it all tasted burnt! Watched a server pick up food they dropped and put it back in the dish! Don't waste your time or money!

Used to love coming to this place but WOW has it gone downhill... went for supper Friday night at 6:30 and what a disappointment... the selection was very limited with the salad bar being near empty... the back servers area was empty...no sushi, no meat no anything.. the server forgot out drink order.. the table clothes were all dirty and no it wasn't recent spilling... on top of that they raised the prices... we won't be back.

Many people told me that the food here is awful now but I wanted to see for myself. Many childhood family dinners were spent at The Bamboo Restaurant. I was hoping for a good experience as I fondly remembered growing up. As our family walked in we weren't greeted by anyone. There was a wall/partition when you come in the door which was very strange and off putting. As we walked around the wall partition a lady on the phone waved for us to go seat ourselves. There was no verbal communication. All this would have been fine if the food was good. The restaurant had about 6 customers at 5pm. I've never seen a buffet restaurant so empty at dinner time. Unfortunately the food was hard from being over fried or sitting out too long. Food was stale and roast beef was too tough to cut. Some parts of the buffet were empty with burnt remnants of what was served before we arrived and in which they never refilled. There were 2 items that were ok and those were cooked mushrooms and shrimp but not NEARLY worth $15.99. $15.99 per person is an excellent price for a quality buffet but certainly not for terrible food. Sadly I won't return to eat here again. Our family barely ate anything and left feeling like we flushed money down the toilet. We were so very dissapointed. What happened to what was once such a wonderful restaurant?!

BEWARE OF FOOD QUALITY !!!! I went here and after my first small platei round a big hair in my food. So i wanted till no costumers were around to tell the waiter because i lost my appetite. The bill was 12.80 and i offerred to pay 9$ and gove the waiter a 2$ tip because i did still eat some food. But the owner said i had to pay the full bill because i ate. I told her i was still hungry but i lost my appetite. And i was being respectfull offering to pay for what i ate. But i didnt eat the all you can eat buffet. They obviously dont care about food quality or costumer service. I would pick another buffet.

Worst place to go unless you like poison in your food is the New Bamboo Garden restaurant. MSG,or monosodium glutamate, is a common food additive and an addictive slow poison. It is associated with hyperactive behavior in children, obesity, seizures, headaches and dozens of other subtle or not-so-subtle symptoms that many people experience. MSG is added to the food at this place and isn’t needed and is slowly poisoning people. Topping the charts of dangerous additives is the deservedly maligned MSG, (monosodium glutamate), a known carcinogen, endocrine disrupter and killer of brain cells, which may also be linked to the development of cardiac problems, kidney problems, neurological disorders, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Lou Gehrig's disease. Why do you want to add this to your food? The MSG you add to your food gives me headaches, upsets my stomach and gives me diarrhea just to name a few things. Stop the use of MSG please!!!!!

Needs a good cleaning. And there was hardly any food at 6pm most of the hot plates were barely full. 2 wontons in the wonton soup. Has definitely gone down hill with the new management. Used to be great food. Would not recommend. Not going back.

My mom and I go there all the time. The staff are friendly and if you go there at peak time the food is hot and fresh. There was one time we went later about 1:00 and it wasn't as hot as it could have been, but it was still good. Went on New Year's Eve for lunch and got there about 1. the food was amazing. They've rearranged the furniture so it's open and bright. Really enjoyed it but the dessert could be better. And contrary to what someone posted about the MSG, there is none because I can't have it and I go there all the time. I told them I'd be back on Jan 18 because it was my birthday. Edit: Jan 18 walked in the door and was greeted by the server with a loud "Happy Birthday." A few minutes later she appeared at the table with a gift bag containing a lovely pashmina. How thoughtful. The place was busy and the food was hot and fresh but my friend complained that there wasn't a lot of meat in the chicken balls. Don't care. I don't eat them anyway.

My sister Janelle went to The New Bamboo Garden and got sick after eating their food and still they GO THERE. My advice is: NEVER EVER go to this restaurant and I won't be ever going there after reading so many poor reviews.

We ordered dinner last night for a birthday and it was so disappointing. The fried egg noodles were sticky and slimy and the beef on it smelled like it had gone bad. The ginger beef which should be crispy was soft and the crust was like soggy bread. We always want to support local so this feedback is not to make them feel bad, but perhaps a way to improve their food. It ruined our birthday dinner :(

Been going there since way back before the expansion. I recently stopped using them for a while since they started using the cheapest and flimsiest takeout containers going. I went to pick up my food from the bag and the container collapsed almost causing me to loose the whole thing on the floor. So after a few months I decided to try them again, BIG MISTAKE. They still use the cheap containers and now if you use a credit card they don't offer the choice of free delivery or free chicken balls etc or the 10% off for pick up orders which I found out when I went to pay for my order. So my order went from $72.00 to $80.00. Now I get that credit cards charge them 2 or 3 percent so I can understand why they want cash but at 3% that would of cost them 2 bucks or so, instead they charge me an extra $8.00 so they don't loose $2.00. Seems by using credit cards they can make an even bigger profit. I told the owner that this would be my last order and he shrugged it off. I was there at 5 pm on a Friday and that fact that there were only 4 diners there at the time it isn't hard to figure out that it won't be long before the New Bamboo will be looking for a new owner once again.

I really want to support this restaurant, it's local and they are new Canadians. They have been supportive when complaining however, I found a hair stuck to the inside of my steamed rice Styrofoam container. During these Covid times, and any time really, food prep should be done with a hairnet. This is food prep 101.I know they are working hard however, public health is important to all of us.

Walked in to a mostly empty restaurant at 6pm, should have known better right then. It was clear that the food had been out on the buffet for quite some time. Filled a plate with whatever I could find that looked somewhat fresh. First bite was my last, I literally gagged on the beef as it tasted rotten. Tried a shanghai noodle and couldn't eat that either as it was more like a shoe lace. Thought I would at the very least try some Wonton soup but to no avail as it smelt as awful as it looked. I'm sorry but there is no sugar coating it, this place is awful and clearly in a death spiral. Half the restaurant is closed off, the hot line where meats were once carved to order is closed off. It's a shame but a reality, it just isn't worth the $16.99.

My mom and I had arrived to this restaurant after a few weeks apart. Walked in to no greeting and stood at the entrance way before being told to sit down by a waitress. Simple drinks took more than five minutes to get to us, and the soy sauce almost tasted sour. Got some food after a while and found it extremely dissapointing. TONS of the food that we took had to have been sitting there for at least a day. I could have probably thrown a chicken ball at the wall and it would have come back to me. Nothing chicken like at all, just plain pastry. The Sushi selection, although being unique from different restaurants, just ended up being like the other food and ruined it's potential. Almost gagged up one of the rolls once I felt how cold it had become from sitting.Chicken wings were mostly undercooked, and the Deep fried Squid felt like it could slide around my plate. Wongtongs were extremely chewy and like the other food, stale, and the desert looked like it was falling apart. Finally left after a unimpressing meal. Not planning on coming back. This place has huge potential with its decor and staff, but it seems like the employees don't want anything to do with Customers. Overall very unimpressed and would not recommend to anyone.

Actually zero stars, worst Chinese food we’ve ever had including selection, appearance of food, taste, temperature. Can’t imagine many more things that they could have done worse. 2 pork dishes, about 6-8 chicken, no beef, only ‘seafood’ was (1) deep fried shrimp and a couple pieces of deep fried ‘fish’. Waitress came by once during our meal, so had to keep stacking dirty plates. Please don’t go there, we certainly never will again. Was much better with previous owner.

We went for a nice Chinese buffet. Very small food selection. Over cooked food. Chicken skewers were so dry I couldn't eat it. All the sauces seemed watered down. Then I went for dessert and a dead fly was on my cake. This used to be a great restaurant. Now not worth the one star rating.

This place has great prices and the food is fresh with high quality ingredients! Super crunchy and delicious veggies, giant shrimps. Highly recommend! Not sure why there are so many bad reviews, but I've ate here several times recently and their quality is excellent :)

Friday June 8th, 2018. After second plate of food, myself, my wife, her friend and her son noticed the chef smoking while cooking in the kitchen! Disgusting! When confronted At the till all the woman had to say was “so sorry, won’t happen again, you must pay”. Long story short, police showed up, we never left the property, and we paid. Went in on Valentine's Day , restaurant had maybe 15 people and yet 90% of the chafing dishes were empty . The food that was there was undercooked and lukewarm at best . We brought it to the managers attention the chicken wings were completely undercooked and the food temperatures were incorrect. Coffee was in smallest cup ,no refills ,poor service .won't be back

Worst experience ever! Do not eat here! My two friends and I went to the buffet tonight and definitely left unhappy! We arrived at 7pm and when went inside there was a lady vacuuming. Cool, Okay. There was not a single person in there so when she finically looked up we asked if we could sit anywhere. As we sit down the lady makes a comment about its almost quitting time. So when we ask her what time they close as the door says 9:30 she said “well we were suppose to be closing at 8:30 tonight but that’s unlikely now. “ So we sat at a booth awkwardly, the table was sticky and the seat was very far away from the table. The waitress came over to ask if we wanted something to drink my friend wanted to order something alcoholic, but when she started to look at the alcohol menu she immediately said “oh no, you can’t order from there. I don’t have anything to make you, I have no mix ” So when she ask if she could get something with pop instead of mix she shut that right down. Instead she says she could make a vodka cranberry. So my friend agreed. My other friend and I just ordered water was we felt awkward after that conversation. But as my friend drinks she couldn’t even taste vodka. Next was the food. We all went up to look at the food to eat as we were starving. The food was very over cooked and looked like it had been sitting there all day. The rice was so over cooked that it was hard again. There was barley any food and what there was looked unappetizing. I settled for some onion rings, chicken balls, chicken wings and salads. The rings were stale, both chicken dishes were still pink inside. And the croutons were stale. The only thing I ate was the salads, that I had put together myself. My friends tried the clams, boy was that a mistake... gross. So then we go to dessert, ice cream was the only thing we thought was save, nope freezer burnt. My friend didn’t even want to try dessert from there. While we were waiting for the bill fruit flies were swarming around our heads and our bill comes to $57! Are you serious for food we barley ate and the unwelcome service? We will never be back and I encourage others to save their money and go elsewhere. Not worth it at all. Boy this was such a disappointment! If I could give it 0 stars I would. We are not ones to complain and we are all in the service industry and know it can be hard sometimes but this was so unreal I had to share with others. And to top it off they have a hole in their salad bar that they plug with a carrot! Yes a carrot! Lol

Stay away! We experienced poor service from the staff and the food was even worse. The buffet bins were empty or near empty at dinner with terrible selection. Some of the food was cold too. In fact, even the water was disgusting. When we only saw 8-10 customers in the restaurant we should've taken that as a hint to walk out before sitting down. I won't return.

Ordered delivery and it wasn't great. The fried chicken wings and dry garlic ribs had no flavor and the orange chicken was too salty to eat. But the fried rice and noodles were good.

Went to the restaurant May 14th at 5pm. Half the buffet had food, half empty. My son and I picked a few things and put on our plate. I ate 2 bites of crab salad, he bit into the chicken and it was cold and like leather. He tried to put his fork in the chicken ball and it was like a rock. I couldn't even tear it in half with my fingers. I asked if the food was from lunch and the lady said yes and we said it was disgusting and cold. She said if I waned to wait for a while fresh food would be coming. We decided we didn't want to wait and told her we were leaving. She freaked out and said we had to pay. I said we didn't eat anything. She said "you waste food" I explained it was inedible. She told me not to come back and she was calling the police. They called the police and said they wanted to press charges because I walked out without paying. I will not pay for something I didn't eat and for something that was not edible.

Called to order soup and the lady on the phone says, "I'm not even sure if they have that, i'm not sure what's in this other one..... etc" she had absolutely NO idea what she was talking about. She did state that the ownership of the restaurant changed August 1st. I'd say you should have enough time to get your stuff together and figure out what your menu is. Holy, NEVER calling back there! That was the worst customer service i've ever had.

Regarding the incident below, I was witness to it and I saw four customers who were threatening the poor owner (who barely can speak English) about a chef smoking in the kitchen and attempting to dine and dash, thankfully, someone had called the police on them and they were required to pay their bills. I come to this establishment quite often and can honestly say the owners are very kind and sweet people who are just trying to do their job.
