Great staff, and lovely atmosphere. We had a large group come to this venue and we had a blast, I highly recommend it!

Very nice, would def recommend the Meads...nice setup, intimate setting for date night or a glass of wine with a friend. Servers are great, gave it 4 stars just because after 3 glasses of wine and a cider, def could have used a piece of cheese, cracker or something and they didn't have anything BUT beverages.

I don’t much about wine, but the wine was not very good. Many other options in Detroit to get better wine.

Kheng Be

Went there for a birthday. Tried to do some samplers and the server said they didn't do tastings... Odd for a winery. Tried about 6 different glasses amongst the friends. The wines we had were just not very good, very tart, unfinished, just hard to drink. The mead was decent. Atmosphere was amazing but it's a winery - starts with the wine. Hopefully it gets better with time. We'll give it another shot in a year.

Daniel Cox

Great little find, wine is good and the vibe is even better!

Nice place.

It was a great experience! Would definitely come back ????

Ryan Chodola

Great service and had a wonderful time exploring the wine list.

And that's EXACTLY what I meant about growing up and treating customers like the valued members they are. Instead of lambasting me and removing the negative review, perhaps you should think about asking, "How can we do better?" You're not helping yourselves with current ways of responding.

Shaneka Mitchell

Personally they need better customer service skills. Also do not buy the coupon on Groupon. We booked a wine tasting for a group and that’s not exactly how it went and that’s false advertisement

Kate Fettig

Perfect spot for wine and learning about winemaking in Michigan. Very wine driven and focused on education. Love the vibe and chill mature of the tasting room. Talk to the staff and ask questions! This is a great place to learn and grow your love for Michigan wine

Cool place! Knowledgeable staff!

We came to to Detroit Vineyards as a group (split into 4 people each) for a Bachelorette party was were very disappointed. We were told that the tour was $10 and that the wine tasting was $20. However, when we got our bill, the tour and wine tasting were a total of $35 instead and when asked why, we were told that that was the cost for both, despite what was said (and witnessed by others) earlier. We were so incredibly disappointed with the tour. The tour lasted about 5 minutes and was given by a very annoyed manager. He acted as if giving this tour was a big inconvenience in his life and was irritated when group members tried to ask questions. Overall it was a very pathetic excuse for a winery experience and we will not be going back.

My Husband and I 1st visited for Valentines day. It made for a great date. We enjoyed the wine flights as well as the Charcuterie board, the hostess was very knowledge and even told me where to find the Mucky Duck mustard which was so good! We decided to join the wine club. Which brings me to our most recent visit. We attended the Spring Wine Release. We really enjoyed it. The food, the wine, the atmosphere. Loved it!

Dominique Porchia-Bray

Antonius was our server. He was courteous and knowledgeable about everything concerning the winery. He was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was welcoming and I enjoyed my time there. Definitely will visit again.

My daughter had scheduled a tasting for her birthday with family. Reservation at 7pm One member of the party go there at 7pm the remainder at 7:10. All of us had on mask. We waited at the host stand as indicated, although staff were mulling around, the venue was socially distancing with space available, no staff greeted us until I caught the eye of the person behind the bar area, you rudely told me to stay there until he can get to us. Another staff passed and I asked can we join our one member who was at the bar area. I shared that we were here for reservation and he quickly told me they had given up our reservation because we were not there at 7pm. He then came back and confirmed that we had a tour and tasting scheduled. He said the tour took 1 hour. I said then let’s get started with the tour. Ultimately the Manager came out and said he would not do the tour and proceeded to explain how they would not honor our reservation because our party arrived at 7:10pm. The worst is that this Manager asked me, “Why is my time more valuable than his?” My response, “I am your customer. When I leave dissatisfied I will tell at least 10 people about my experience.” He then proceeded to insult my guest who arrived at 7pm. We left the establishment and will not return ever. I will also tell every person and group I belong to to never patronize Detroit Vineyards.

Delicious wine throughout the menu, complimented by an attractive and well done modernization of a historic building. Will be back again soon!

My first time I enjoyed the wine tasting with family. Second time there was for a wine tour, with friends from out of town, tour was not the greatest. On a brighter note its a nice place to come enjoy some good conversation and try some nice wines.

Visited Detroit Vineyards yesterday…what a wonderful atmosphere! Was greeted by staff upon entry, especially Polly…who graciously sat us at the bar and was extremely attentive to us during our 1-1/2 hr visit! She is VERY knowledgeable about the wines and their background. The wines flight was amazing - we had the $20 flight. The Woodward + Vine EMCEE is amazing, I loved it so much I purchased a bottle! Highly recommend a visit there! Ask for Polly!

I’ve been to Detroit vineyards twice in one month. I went there at the beginning of March and again last night. Each time, the service has been excellent, the food delish, and the wine servings impeccable. I’m duly impressed with the wine, the taste, and the quality, and prices are fantastic. As a New Orleanian, i have to Say I’m quite impressed with Detroit Vineyards :)

Nikita Smith

This place was nice, chill, great atmosphere and the service was great. We had the Detroit Flight which was really good it was a first time visit and we will definitely repeat!

Very deceiving with pricing. Booked a wine tasting for $20 and provided a $10 deposit for my partner & I. When we arrived we were provided a menu of flights and advised to pick one for our tasting. Somehow our bill came back at $70 ( we purchased a bottle of wine for $24, the only good wine we tasted within our flights, which means our final bill should have been around 35-40 bucks with the remainder after the deposit...). All of that to say, please note that you are not only paying $20 for a wine tasting. You are paying for a discount credit to be applied to your final bill as you are paying for the flights itself. I would recommend going elsewhere for a wine tasting such as Coopers Hawk who is very transparent with their pricing. This place is relatively expensive for small sips of wine that are not very good. Recommend to be more transparent and detailed on exactly what customers are paying for during their experiences and if it's a wine tasting deposit per person it should clearly state that within the website. I see this same experience mentioned a couple of times prior in reviews as well. Think twice, maybe three times before booking!

Wish I could give this establishment a higher rating. I had such high hopes! The space is cool, the blueberry cider tasty, and I like to support local businesses. But the pricing, service and communication was subpar. 1. Don't do the tour, they don't want you to. The manager seemed knowledgeable but so disinterested in interacting that questions were stifled and the whole process was rushed. The entire tour was under 10 minutes, and that was with questions that prolonged the process for him. 2. Be prepared that prices change. I went with a group and the price we were quoted was not what we were charged. When we asked for redress, the we got was "That's how it is."

Carlex Group

Just not good. Wines were awful. Service was terrible.

Jessica Jolly

Poor customer service. No service recovery provided after they were out of several items on the menu and they were out of clean carafes. No wine glasses provided. Nice concept, but poor execution.

Located in the former Stroh’s ice cream factory on Gratiot near Eastern Market, we stopped in at Detroit Vineyards to see what kind of grapes grow in Detroit! It was February...so we didn't see any grapes but we got to taste test some Detroit Vineyard wine! The inside of Detroit Vineyards is impressive with its industrial look with floating tables and the wall of wine! I recommend the Detroit Flight which consisted of: 2017 Dry Riesling 2018 Semi-Dry Riesling 2019 Rose’ 2017 Merlot 2019 Rye Aged Cyser The wine flights are a HEALTHY pour and was a great way to end our night after our dinner. I’m not a wine expert by any means but I enjoy dry red cabs. I really liked the Detroit Flight since it had a variety of new wines to try. I liked the dry riesling, the Rose’ and the rye aged cyser best. (Who am I kidding, we drank them all and enjoyed them) The flight was complimentary with the purchase of 3 bottles of wine so it was an easy deal to pick up! The Detroit Post-Industrial decor provided a cool place to drink some wine! I really liked the floating tables and the chance to see the wine barrels stocked in the store room. It’s a recommended go to spot and we’ll be back!

Amazing new winery and vineyard! I recommend the pinot noir, the raspberry mead, and the Traminette, but it's all great!

I came here for a party with a group in Detroit called the Detroit Young professionals, and it was a fantastic event in their space. The venue was quite large and conducive to a party of this size. Despite hosting hundreds of people in the space, the service was still pretty good and the wine ???? was excellent

Was happy for hour 1, hour 2, should not have happened. Wines were good, but young. Server was new, or at least I hope so. No attention, very little knowledge. Waited with my glasses empty for over 30 minutes for a bill. Sorry to say, we won't return for a long while after that.

Great people, service and wines!

First I wish I read prior review where the customer service was rated has trash! The so called supervisor cancelled the reservation because me and my family and friends want to go wine tasting. I called myself supporting the city and wanted to try I called prior to reserving and was advices that the covid protocol allowed 42 people in the building at one time! At no time was I advised that there could not be to many people that “know” each other at the same time. My sister called and spoke with a Candace who advise that there was only 3 parties reserved for the day and we would be able to add a party because there was opening! Next we tried to reserve but there were any times remaining. Later there was move Slots available and we reserved them! My sister received a call from a so called supervisor who was very nasty and rude stating that we were disrespecting their covid restriction? Where this is very confusing because if I reserved under 4 different names this would not be a problem because we were not looking to disrespect any restrictions they have. My question is why tell a customer that 42 people are allowed to reserve for a tasting and then get mad because the party know each other. I understood that we have to stay in out party of 4 and we’re our mask so what is the issue? After I spoke to this supervisor he stated that we can continue with out of the reserved spots and then sent an email changing his mind like we did something to him? I was not rude I did not disrespect him and all he could do is be nasty. I would not recommend anyone to book with this company! The staff and the management team did not offer proper information! The supervisor has a very nasty attitude and obviously does not want the business to make money. Upon another review that I posted the response was sorry not sorry! This is very unacceptable.

I had a wine tour here with the Black Woman Wine Society. I believe the man who did our tour was Shawn. He was extremely knowledgable about different wines in different countries and their origins. It was a real treat.

Kimberly Hudson

Went on openin day, vibe wasn't very invitin. Saw the owner jus talkin to certain patrons, guess I didn't look the part. I was there atleast 2 hours, the female manager was very nice and helpful. I did the tasting, it was pretty nice the, layout/decor is nice. Wouldn't care if I returned. The best thing about my visit was #marcus you were awesome! #thankyou for your #professionalism I went-I saw-don't care to return #fullhouse #grandopening #detroitvineyards #tastingroom

2nd trip here. Had our club pickup. This is not your ordinary wine club. They put out a spread. Great pairings and great wines for the club distribution. It's right around the corner from Eastern Market. Give them try, you won't be sorry. Class act.

I was in on Saturday, 9/11. I've ordered wine a couple of times from the website, but wanted to come in and taste a few more. It wasn't very busy, but we definitely felt neglected during our time there. In the end, I was able to taste several wines and purchased 15 bottles. I just wish the service had been more attentive.

Laura Bianchi

Great vibe! You have to check this place out for yourself! We did the Detroit Flight and I would purchase and drink every one of them and I'm picky about my wine. It's a gem, you're going to love it!

Jordan Mock

My wife and I can always rely on a great glass/bottle of wine here! Their space is very nice and the owner and the staff are always very welcoming! Their cider is a hidden gem too!

Joe Stan

First time there, excellent time. Very knowledgeable staff (Polly is great)the wine and mead is very good something for everyone. Will definitely be going there again soon. Looking for their products in local markets.

Wendy

I'm no sommelier, but I know my wines well enough. I didn't love any of the 3 wines I tasted. I believe it was the cab franc rose that I tried that I couldn't believe "smokey" was not in the description on the menu. I hated that one because of that. Smelled and tasted like smoke. The other few I tried - pinot noir, unoaked chard and a cider were decent, but not fabulous. I liked the industrial feel of the place and loved the shelving unit that held all the bottles for sale. Ultimately didn't feel compelled to buy any wines, neither did the other 3 in my group. Perhaps with time, they will grow and the wines will mature. I'll try it again some day.

A group of friend and I decided to check them out when restaurants opened back up last year. I have to tell you, they are so clean, and follow rules. I feel super safe when I go to Detroit Vineyards. I’m especially cautious because I have immune compromised family members that I want to be able to see. Now about their wine, I typically like dry wines. I usually don’t like Michigan reds. I love DVs. Just when I think I’m only going to go in for a tasting, I walk out with two or three bottles. The rose’ has got to be my favorite DV wine though. I’ve also purchased swag gifts from them as gifts for friends and family. As restrictions lighten, and you’re looking for some thing to try it with a loved one, I would definitely recommend them to be one of your first outings.

I called a few months ago as I have been wanting to go but they were closed for dining. I however made a reservation for my friend and I to attend on Thursday. Prior to going anywhere I haven’t been I take a look at the reviews. What I noticed is there were a few negative reviews that dealt with pricing and quality. So, we get there and purchase the Detroit Flight (sweet wine). There were two flights to choose from which were $25 a piece which consisted of 5 wines that were 2 oz each. My friend and I both ordered a flight and then ordered the cheese and cracker plate which was around $25. There are other options if you don’t want a flight and you can either order by the glass or the bottle. I will say that everything was spectacular! The cheese was out of this world so good! The waiter also was very helpful and efficient! I’m definitely goin to return! If your cheap and don’t want to spend the money then you should probably drink at home! I am shocked so many people reviewed negatively. I’m definitely Impressed and was very satisfied with the overall visit.

Chris is amazing!!!! It being post covid-19, it's a bit hard to hear during the tour because of the mask . (I certainly appreciate that) ...but, no worries Chris was patient and very informative. It may have been the wine, but I walked out of there feeling like a sommelier. Thanks again Chris.

I want to start this by saying, in theory, this establishment did nothing wrong. My friends and I had made reservations to celebrate a friend getting married. While, they do make it clear on their website they can’t accommodate bachelorette parties, we were also catching up with each other as most of our group lives out of town. We honestly weren’t thinking of our plans as a “bachelorette” party, but that is admittedly was our mistake. When my group initially walked in, we were met with an attitude because we asked if our tables could be put together. The woman said they could only do tables of four to which we said we know we just want to see if we can sit near each other. The woman said she would see what they could do, but again with a visible attitude. Noticing my friend’s bride to be sash, she asks if we’re having a bachelorette party and we say yes she’s getting married. We don’t think anything of it, and it’s easier to say yes, rather than my friend isn’t the typical “bachelorette party” type of girl and we’re also happy to have friends from out of town ect. The woman says she needs to go speak to her manager. Never tells my friend congratulations or anything. The manager comes and tells us we need to leave, it says on the website they can’t support bachelorette parties, and our reservation would be immediately refunded. We say okay, but can she take her sash off because we’re not really just here for her wedding and is this protocol for all celebrations? They tell us no to both, and insist that we need to leave. Our reservation was refunded, so again the store didn’t technically do anything wrong. The entire exchange was really rude, however, and I know this could have been handled with a little more gentility. Neither of the women even told my friend congratulations. It was just a really unsettling experience, and I would personally never go back.

Wonderful experience and great wine! Highly recommend!

the way the owner responds on Google reviews to legitimate concerns/complaints is entirely unprofessional and is indicative of the type of customer service you will receive here. go somewhere that will respect you.

Really cool.place! A must stop if you are in Detroit. Try their version of a Moscow Mule, DELISH!!

Word to the wise, do not waste your time and money on the tour. I came in today with a group of 8 (split into two groups of 4) for tours and tastings. I was told when I asked how much everything was that the tour was $10 and the tasting is $20. The way they were presented, they seemed like separate things. All members of my group did the tour and some did the tasting, others had a cider. A cider is $8. When we got the bill they charged all of us for a tour and tasting at $35 ea. ($5 more than we were told it would be and definitely more than the tour and a cider should be). There is no way a 6 min tour with their impatient, unfriendly, and unwelcoming manager and one glass of cider should cost that much. Frankly the tasting was also a terrible value since they pour about an ounce and a half of 5 wines and charge you $20 for it. You really need to take your customers’ experience into how you comport business. The manager really came off like he did not care about our experience in his establishment and I would never recommend this place to anyone or return.

Beautiful interior, convient location and great tasting wine. The raspberry mead was delicious. I encourage you to get a flight.

Stephanie Kuharik

Such a great addition to Detroit! I did the flight and ended up buying a glass of wine and was so pleased. I loved all three wines I tasted and if the bottles were just a little less expensive ($25 each) I would absolutely have purchased a few - I may still. I had two wines and a cider and it is rare that I love all the wines I taste and I really did (I had the Traminette, semi-dry cider, and I believe it was the Merlot Rose (my favorite)!). The staff was super helpful in the selection process and the building is so cool inside. I love all the colors and fixtures, etc. I will definitely be returning and bringing friends! It wasn't too busy when I was there and it's large enough to be a great place to bring a group. Highly recommend!

Showed up on a Sunday. Closed...it’s 2PM and no one is answering did this place close? Waste of a drive!! How inconvenient. No where says this place is closed on Sundays

Grat wines and staff was great. Will be back and sign up for the wine club

Colleen Vieira

I really enjoyed the wine flight. I actually purchased 3 bottles However, my friend and I were the only ones in there and the 2 people who were working did not talk to us at all about the wines. I am always looking to deepen my wine knowledge. While the wine is good, it is not good enough for me to return. There are many wine places where the wine is good, and the atmosphere is much more welcoming.

Timothy Cox Jr.

May is AMAZING and her cheese and charcuterie plate was PHENOMENAL & WINE Pairings were TOTALLY ON POINT!!! THOMAS is an AWESOME GUY, WE COULD DEFINITELY FEEL HIS LOVE FOR THE VINEYARD during our Tour & Tasting!!! Thank You for helping me give my Wife, the BEST ANNIVERSARY DATE YET!!!

Stopped in for a tasting , first thing noticable was the smell of stale wine or beverages in the bar area waited 25 mins for service at the bar and it was pretty empty only 2 people working. They acknowledged us but it didn't wait on us finally left . Would not recommend it to anyone and won't go back . Winery wanna be! Thumbs down!!

Very disappointed The place is interesting but when we’re arrived we were told they no longer offer tasting flights If you are a winery and want people to know your wines this is a huge issue Buying by the glass is hit and miss would have liked to sample to find a wine I liked Won’t go back

Chris Gostek

This is very strange. We opened a bottle of water. No color no taste. I’m wondering is someone quit and was sabotaging. No upstanding business would do that. So strange, just had to post it.

Amethia Sellers

I’ve been to a few wine tastings and this one was the least satisfying one. We arrived Saturday at 12 so it was quite empty. We were seated with a piece of paper stating that it was 4 2 oz pours for $20. Originally when making the reservations I was told it’ll be $15. I had made a $10 deposit with my reservation. Anyways, the waiter came to us and asked if we would like the wine tasting. We were not able to choose the wines we wanted. They already had the 4 that we had to get printed on the paper plus the one bonus pour. Wasn’t happy about that because I already know I’m not a fan of reds. The server came and poured the wine and said the names and walked off. Service was not what I expected. He then came back and poured the reds in the same glasses we had the whites in and then walked away again. I had to actually get up from the table to be checked out in which they said the remaining balance was $30 since I had already paid $10. I feel like they should’ve honored the price that was on their website for $15/wine tasting. The music was a heavy metal. The service was subpar at best. We did not enjoy ourselves at all.

This place is an amazing little gem in Detroit. From the very nice atmosphere to the knowledgeable staff and not to mention the fabulous wine. I would totally recommend this place to anyone who loves wine and to anyone who wants to give wine a try with affordable wine tasting experience. My friends and I became wine club members sense we love this place so much.

Great mother's day gift from my daughter, enjoyed the experience

Jon Kolenda

Made reservations in advance, traveled to location, only to be told the venue was closed for private event. They didn't even have signage on the door indicating closure. Will not return

Maxine Taylor

This place is amazing! The owner, the staff, the atmosphere is all amazing. I love that there is a winery in our local area, with its own parking lot. The wine club perks are awesome. I love the Rose, it is the perfect summer wine(or anytime who am I kidding). Keep up the great work DV you guys rock!

Christine Prozaki

The waitstaff was great. The wine needs nurturing yet. Decor and tunes lent a great atmosphere. Nice place to take a group.
