The best food in Whitehorse
Fantastic food, with fresh oysters in the Yukon. Old fashions were on point.
Easily the best food, drinks and atmosphere in town.
Probably the best meal we've had in Whitehorse.
Excellent food and drinks. One of a kind model for Whitehorse.
Probably the best restaurant in town... the food is excellent and the cocktails are fun.
Busy place, expect to wait to be seated if you are in a group. Otherwise there's usually a couple free stools at the bar, with the same menu and friendly bartenders.
Excellent meal, great service
Food is good but too salty
Probably the best restaurant in town. It’s not cheap for sure but you know you’re not going there for this. The food is incredibly good and refined. Portions are not too big but again dishes are really tasty and if you’re looking for something different than burgers and fries it’s the place to go! Friendly staff ????
A fantastic place. Great food and great service. A wonderful surprise and a great addition to Whitehorse’s culinary scene. Thank you for a memorable meal.
Nice atmosphere, helpful staff, and everything we had was delicious. An unexpectedly big-city experience in our small town. We'll be back.
excellent! short menu, no mayones. normal food
Already one of the best restaurants in town. Clever, funky decor; friendly, happy, engaged staff; prompt attentive service, and most of all, delightful, creative, and exquisitely prepared food. Notably also, despite being a nice restaurant, they were happy to welcome my seven month old baby, too. I'm already excited to return and try more of the menu.
Best place to eat in Whitehorse.
Oh man this place is good! I tried a few oysters but all the other things on the menu sounded really good too. I wanted to order them all. I'll definitely have to come back. They also have mixed drinks with fancy names.
Menu is getting better and better everytime we go. Great staff and ambiance. Can be a bit busy early evening. Baked oyster is a must try.
Amazing food and drinks. The service was lovely, Kal makes the best cocktails in town.
Food was delicious, service was amazing, a hidden gem in Whitehorse!
SANTAAAA MOZZAARRELLA!!!Thank you mother earth for allowing the brilliance of these chefs to present your natural ingredients on such a delicious plate!!(Sablefish Coconut Currie) Even when i got there late, i was presented with near perfection from both the kitchen and the floor staff...Very thankful and sooo many thanks...Thanks for the experience
Love this place...just a bit pricey.
Everything done well especially the seafood I will say, maybe except the desert ????.
Food was delicious and fresh. Loved the salad, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower. Servers were also great. Solid background music. The only small critique is the hot air temperature inside the restaurant on a warm August evening. Definitely an unexpected and welcome find. Made our Whitehorse visit special.
was excellent really enjoyed it was great service the food was fantastic I will go back again
Lets just keep this simple. Wayfarer is the best place to eat in Whitehorse. Fresh oysters, an always inventive menu and plenty of cocktails to wet your whistle. In a town where fine dining isn’t on the menu, Wayfarer will take care of you. If they are still offering it, get the side of scotch as “sauce” for your oysters. Delish!
The cocktails were great! The food, amazing! Thank you!
I had previously rated this place lower because of the small portion sizes, but I just ate here again and that problem has been resolved. This place is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Seriously, the food was amazing. The relaxed atmosphere makes it a comfortable high end dining experience. The servers are attentive and the food is absolutely amazing. We had the brussel sprouts, clam chowder, and 2 of the three mains, and a delicious Ginger cake. You can see the kitchen from anywhere you're sitting, making you feel included in the process and able to see exactly how hard they're working to bring you works of art. This place is ????
Great atmosphere and food. Just what Whitehorse was missing.
The food and cocktails were fantastic, and the staff were very attentive and friendly!
If you want oysters or delicious drinks this is the place to go! Fresh oysters are always available, the menu features specials that change regularely. Make sure you book a reservation if you want a table! The bar seating is first come first serve.
Off to a strong start and already the "go-to" restaurant in Whitehorse.
Probably the best oysters in North America ! The other dishes are also delicious, worthy of a gastronomic restaurant
A hip oyster bar/restaurant with amazing food and service. I had a great selection on fresh oysters and oxtail bourginion with delicious gnocchi, comfort food at it's best. It's a very popular spot so get there early!
That place is awesome. The staff is great and the food is amazing. If your love good food, this place is for you. I had a great time there and I will definitely come back.
Quite interesting use of asian flavors in western food. We had oyster (happy hour price 8 for $23), miso brussel sprout, tuna dish(forgot the name), burrata for starters and then smoked pork belli, sable fish as nain dish. My favorite was burrata. Sable fish had a green pea curry as well which felt almost like Thai green curry. It was very yummy.
I have enjoyed this restaurant on several occasions. They weathered the pandemic and have stayed on point. This evening, our group of four had a fantastic evening. You forget you are in northern Canada, you could be in New York. One recommendation is to always "buy a round for the kitchen" it's money well invested.
Great experience, every time.
Great food, drinks and service. Amazing oysters!
Dinner
Great place - we went with our whole family (2&1/2 year old and 9 month old) and had a great time. The food was fantastic, the service was quick and friendly. Definitely will go again - soon.
Incredible restaurant in Whitehorse! One of the best restaurants in Canada and the food is outstanding. Don't miss going here if you're in the area, it's well worth it.
I'm a seafood hater and I really enjoy Wayfarer! Staff are always SO lovely, food is top notch and excellent selection of drinks. Love it!
Well executed food but poor service. Staff hardly checked if we needed anything, never asked if we wanted another drink or desert, and felt like they kept wanting us to leave even though we were still ordering food. Wouldn’t go back.
One of the most delicious meals I have had. So much flavor in all courses, albacore tuna appetizer, duck main and earl grey dessert (kind of like a custard, i forget the full name ????)
Incredible food, cocktails and service. Highly recommend the cauliflower, Brussel sprouts and oysters!
The only place I will order oyster in Whitehorse. Specials tonight were steak tartar appetizer and the main was a pork and mushroom ragu with freshly made pasta, words can not describe how good they were. The staff and service were excellent, asked for recommendations and the staff were extremely knowledgeable. The atmosphere is great, laid back and casual, music was just right so you can have a conversation. The menu has a few regular dishes, but every day the board has something new. I would highly recommend you visit this place.
Top notch food and excellent service. Very airy and open interior with a cohesive decor. Nice location, nice to be on the edge of downtown against the cliffs. Excited to explore the menu.
Delicious food! Great service! Fun vibe! Top notch!
Dine in
Excellent & eclectic menu range of smaller dishes - have more than 1! I'm not a fan of oysters but the ones my colleague had looked amazing. I recommend their Pisco Sour!
Too bad during COVID there's no happy hour. Really loved their oysters as they're fresh and juicy. Definitely make reservations cuz they're busy on the weekend. For 2 people, you can only fine in for 1.5 hours before they take the next reso. We wanted to order more but ran out of time. The food is decent but the spot prawn is off season and I can taste that it's frozen, maybe it's better not to serve off season food. Cocktails are okay.
Best oysters in the north. Hands down. Grab a beer , plate of oysters and enjoy. T-shirts make a great souvenir
Fresh oysters, fine dining and cozy atmosphere. However, you have to order doubles if you want to feel somewhat full.
Can't get enough
little pricey but worth it for quality and freshness
Service
It's tucked away in the industrial area of downtown but well worth the trip. I went with 2 others on a Sunday evening. The sunchoke risotto special was amazing, so warm and satisfying. Menu is small but the food really delivers. Everyone raved about their choices.
The decor and ambience of this place is stellar, and the food was incredible. Everything I ate was so fresh and obviously prepared with pride. The reason I’m giving a 3/5 stars is because I wanted to enjoy the cocktails without alcohol, and ended up being charged not only full price for them, but charged for a higher priced cocktail than I even had. If I’m not drinking your liquor, don’t charge me for it.
This place was great. The drink menu was interesting, in a good way, and the cocktails were excellent. The menu which is in a non traditional layout which listed the dishes in a descending order from small to larger plates. With the menu changing from season to season, while my dishes were wonderful and I would recommend them. I will stick to how well the food was cook and presented. I had a perfect cooked and seasoned pork belly. I had one of the large plates of stablefish, the fish was cooked perfect, the sauce for the fish flavors were exactly what was put on the menu, and the chef hit an interesting combination of flavors that made the dish shine. This was a great place to eat, while not white table cloth service, the food was. This is the Yukon, it's informal and friendly but the food is as good as you get in any cosmopolitan city in the world.
Best meal I ever ate. Owner is a great guy, too, highlight of my Yukon trip!
Great food.
The Wayfarer exceeds in taste and style. Bon Appetit.
Only eat here if you want exceptional food, prepared fresh! The menu changes, the drinks are alway refreshing and the ambiance is perfect for a relaxing time. The only thing I would caution you about is they use only the best and freshest foods.....tastebuds beware!
Great atmosphere and great service. The price of the food is a bit high for the quantity so I recommend snacking here and having a meal elsewhere, if you're not rolling in dough.
Awesome place and great experience! The food truly is remarkable
Heard so much about this restaurant so I couldn’t wait to eat here So disappointed Very difficult to chat with my friend as it was so loud in there. They had awful music playing and couldn’t have a conversation Food was ok nothing to write home about but expensive No way would I go back
Had an amazing feast with friends to celebrate my birthday! As a bigger group, we made advanced reservations and pre-ordered from a limited, but DELICIOUS menu including shared plates, entrees and desserts. The food and drinks were incredible, Eddie and the staff were amazing and the atmosphere was perfect for celebrating! We really can't thank the crew enough for such a memorable night!
(Translated) This beautiful very cozy and above all very local there are not many tourists (Original) Esta bonito muy acogedor y sobretodo muy local no hay muchos turistas
(Translated) Very expensive for what it is, it is rich but I think it is very expensive (Original) Muy caro para lo que es, es rico pero creo que es muy caro
Hands down best restaurant in Whitehorse
The food was amazing. The service half was amazing and drinks yummy. However when you sit down and ask for kids menu and get a reply... no we don't... we don't really do kids. ????. How do u continue the evening on positive note .maybe the lady with the dark short hair with peircing was having a bad day , but I recommend you never day that to a momma bear who brought her cub.
10/10 would recommend
What an awesome place. Delicious seafood, impeccable service and a very good wine list. A very cool vibe...to boot!
Friendly staff and the food was delicious. I had the special (no oysters): a Jerusalem artichoke soup and it amazing! A great combination of flavours and textures.
We had the mussels for an appetizer, mains of duck and risotto as well as dessert. All incredible, can't wait to go back! Great atmosphere and service as well.
Always a great time eating here! Great food, great atmosphere, and awesome staff! I always look forward to dining at the Wayfarer Oyster House! Eddie has done a wonderful job with filling a niche within the Whitehorse food scene, and recommend this fine establishment to all my family and friends! Why wait, go check it out tonight!?
Amazing food, friendly staff and a great ambience!!! Probably the best restaurant in town! Keep it up guys!!!
Made a reservation there, when we arrived we were told they didn't have it. The person at the door went to check and the next person came back and simply repeated they didn't have it, and that they only table that could accommodate us was just seated. Mistakes happen, sure. But there was no offer of options, no offer to reschedule, simply seemed like they didn't care at all. Perhaps in the future I'll have a reason and opportunity to update this review, cause it looked wonderfully cozy inside.
Oysters were fresh and tasty. Beef tartare was a bit too spicy for my taste but still very fresh and good. The lime and coco cheesecake was an interesting dessert that I liked very much!
Super noisy, weird menu, uncomfortable seats. I ordered a mushroom pasta that came with a poached egg on top...just weird. It may have made Air Canada's top 'trendy' picks, but not mine.
A delightful eatery! Creative mastery of food and drink, this was another wonderful surprise in Whitehorse. The collection of vinyl vibes is impressive as well!
Excellent atmosphere and the oysters were so fresh and tasty!. Highly recommend!
Very good. Food was excellent and wine was great
A must visit. Appetizer was delicious and the entrees surpassed expectations. The chocolate mousse for dessert somehow topped it all. Go early to secure a spot, it starts to get busy by 6. Expect to stay for about 90 min or more. Can't wait to go back.
Very trendy place to eat, great food combinations. If you are looking for a culinary experience this is the place to go. A bit spendy but very worth it!
Oysters are fresh and deadly! My first experience was a bummer just cause I was super excited...but went a couple weeks ago and loved it! :D Going back again!
Meal type
Incredible food, the friendliest staff, and always great music playing.
Best fresh oysters west of Newfoundland. Mignonette sauce THE best oyster sauce i’ve ever tasted. Wayfarer is a must when in Whitehorse.
Service was bad and marginally racist, thumbs down to the short-haired female server. Ruined my mood. Food was good though.
Enjoyed the food here!
Innovative food and great service. The staff is very friendly and happy to help with special food needs, and our dinners were quite tasty. I had the chowder, which was quite filling and kept me warm for an evening of freezing my butt off and hoping to see the Northern Lights. The menu's not online, so if you're the type that picks your meal before even arriving at the restaurant then definitely get there when the bar opens. Then, you can have some oysters and drinks, and take your time poring over the menu.
Poor complicated hard to understand menu. Limited choice of food. Expensive for small portion .Chairs uncomfy..
Best restaurant in Whitehorse.
Probably the best food in whitehorse
