We stop at von Stiehl a lot, and buy a ton of wine from them, and it's always a great experience. The wine is obviously the highlight, but the customer service really sets them apart from other local wineries. They also put on some great parties like BrewVino and their futures tastings. If you get a chance, always try their Gamba barrel aged wines, which rotates as they are a step above everything else for the price. Von Stiehl is wonderful place to plan a day trip to Algoma (and then hit up Skaliwags).

Good location for a winery. Not you typically inland hilly vineyard. Located right off of Lake Michigan you can do a wine sampling and then take a walk to the lakefront. The wines themself we’re good and the staff was friendly and helpful. There is seating set up outside to order drinks by the glass or by the bottle.

We had the best time here- they’re already ready for the holidays????❤️ some of our favorites were the sparkling viognier & chenin blanc (would be great for NYE) brewvino (great for steak), and the holiday wine (can be warmed on the stove priced reasonably and so festive)!

I visited today and had a fantastic tour! There is so much more history involved that I learned about. To think that sailing ships came that tiny bit in from Lake Michigan with cargo was fascinating. The tunnels below were so cool to see. We didn't see any ghosts though. Don't miss the party room on the fourth floor (third if you don't count the cellars) where a lot of historical items can be viewed. There were several wines I really liked and I bought two home to enjoy. Thanks to Donna for a very informative tour.

The employees were very kind and helped us quickly to tastings. The wines weren’t all our favorites (except the cider - VERY good) but an interesting palate overall. The building is beautiful and there are small gifts available too which were unique and lovely. It was a little confusing when we walked in about whether it was tasting only, if we could sit outside with a bottle, or if there were charcuterie options, so be sure to ask. ????

My sister and I go to Von stiehl Winery every year. We have enjoyed our past experiences very much. We understand there is a Pandemic and changes have to be made for tasting. This year we did not enjoy ourselves. We were rushed and had to stand and move from one wine counter to another. The server seemed impatient and we felt like we were in an assembly line. We visited many wineries during our stay and those experiences were relaxing and lovely even with Pandemic changes. necounter to another. We were rushed and our server was rude.

Always had great service for a very affordable and fun tasting. We even had someone drop everything to show us the wine cellar after our tasting. Very cool place. They have everything from basically alcoholic cheer juice to fancy barrel fermented traditional dry wines, to essentially a cherry wine/Brandy hybrid, and everything in between.

My friends and I came to do a wine tasting in Door County and we stopped at von Stiehl! This was one of the best quality and quantity tastings you can get. We had 20+ options to chose from for our up to 5 tasting for $5 and an additional up to 5 complementary tastings! Also the ladies who were pouring for us were super nice and knowledgable about each wine. Everyone in our group got a bottle afterwards! And they took a group photo of us! :) super cool place and right next to a lighthouse, go check it out!

Great service....a nice small quaint place, not overcrowded, not too noisy, I love the exposed brick. Katie was an awesome tasting host to me as well other parties that were enjoying a tasting. Well worth the detour on your way to Door County. P.S. Nicely priced bottles, fully tastings and you even get to try 6 wines for free! Also, (if you are into reds) Naughty Girl is even blend of sweet and dry or just a great introductry red for thoose that do not drink red and the Stony Creek Red.

Absolutely a wonderful time! When you enter, you're greeted by a very friendly and welcoming staff. You get to choose six samples from a well organized menu. There are plenty of options for all types of wines. Our wine-tender was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I wish we would have asked her for her name! She was kind enough to take a group photo with us. She truly made our day and experience in Algoma memorable. She was fun, honest, and a blast! Our favorite quote she mentioned was to "not tell her mom" regarding an additonal sample she provided out group. To all who have the opportunity to visit, enjoy and cheers!

I visited several Door County wineries for the first time last week. I wasn't sure what to expect, as I'm usually not a fan of Wisconsin wines, but I was thoroughly blown away by my experience at the von Stiehl winery, which was my favorite by far. The building was incredibly beautiful, the prices were very reasonable, and the staff was absolutely amazing. The charismatic, knowledgeable Wanda gave us an awesome, very thorough tour of the facility, and then did a great job taking care of us during our wine tasting, which far exceeded my expectations. One thing that really struck me about their wines was that they really do have something for everyone. Dry, complex reds, sweet fruity blends, experimental, boozier wines - they have it all! I even enjoyed the rosé I tried, and that was the first rosé I can say that about. I highly recommend this place, and look forward to getting back there again, myself!

Went there for the wine pick-up party with my sister-in-law who is a member. The wine was great! Ended up with having 3 tasting of wines that were accompanied by pairings [initially]. Then proceeded to the main floor and sampled more wines. Ray Cunningham was behind the counter and was exceptional. Very personable and friendly and made for a great experience. I ended up snatching a couple of bottles. I would absolutely return to get some more wine and continue chatting with Ray.

Over many years I have toured the winery several times. I am impressed with the knowledge and service of the staff. not sure if the wine is good... I may need many more samples to tell :) all kidding aside the wines are great and i have bought many bottles. My favorite is an apple wine wrapped in a cloth and plaster, with some mulling spices.

The way your treated here is amazing ! There so welcoming and friendly and you can tell that wine is there passion . The selection is huge and there is a wine for EVERYONE ! They have bands in summer so you can sit on the hill by the river , drink wine and listen to good music . This is a must stop place if going through Algoma WI !

Truly an amazing place. There are tons of people that work there that are just awesome all around. We did a Groupon for a 2-hour VIP tour, and it was fun and informative. The people are very candid, and humorous. Lots of choices to be made, but Niagara is our favorite wine from that location. I highly recommend anybody take the tour, or at the very least stop by and try things out.

As overlords of Captains Walk Winery in Green Bay, von Stiehl is an excellent winery in their own right. Makers of the widely popular Naughty Girl wine (which can be had at Costco for less than the winery price), they also have a wide assortment of quality wines. They make both fine wines from California and Washington sourced grapes, and sweet wines and yummy ciders. $6 tastings are a worthwhile value. Recommend

The oldest winery in Door County. I remember the days when folks could serve themselves samples of wine. But now they have a sampling bar where a friendly wine server will pour samples for you. There are also tours of the building available. They have a plethora of wine types. The dry Door County cherry is a favorite. We have friends from the south who always want to visit von Stiehl's every time they come up. Get yourself there.

Not sure why this place gets such high reviews. My wife and I frequent wineries all over Wisconsin and this is at the bottom - sorry . Staff was very friendly and wine was just ok . We’ve had much better experiences at other wineries that had a much better atmosphere,charm and layout. Mask was required inside which makes it difficult to sample which was a let down from the normal experience -but 100 people can gather outside drink wine and listen to a band and no masks ?. ????????‍♂️ definitely not 6’ apart outside .thankfully there are many other fun ,classy and charming wineries in Wisconsin to chose from than to settle for Von.

My all time favorite winery. My family has been making our annual pilgrimage to visit von Stiel Winery since the early 70's (and if time permits, we may visit family in the area). Just uncorked a bottle of naughty girl, one of my favorites. We always leave plenty of room in the trunk for the all the cases we bring home to Ohio.

We love this place. They have a wine for everyone. Dry, sweet, grapes, apples, cherries etc. Their wine club is perfect as well, 8 bottles a year so it's not too much if you like wine but aren't a frequent drinker. The lounge upstairs is also very cool.

Very good wine. My wife and I love stopping by every time we are in door county. I recently made a online purchase and received free shipping and $20 off. There must have been a glitch because Von Stiehl called me saying I wasn’t supposed to get the $20 off. They ended up charging me the $20 extra once the wine shipped. I understand there was a glitch on their end, but since it was not my fault for the mixup, I was disappointed in the way it was handled. UPDATE: Von Stiehl called me and made things right. Very good customer service.

This winery has come a long way since the days of blueberry wine. Now there are many good reds and whites. Free tasting and you can enjoy a cheese and cracker selection with a glass of your favorite wine on the patio. You keep the cutting board and knife. Better than many of the SW Michigan wineries. The Bourbon barrel Brandy fortified hard apple cider is very tasty.
