REVIEWS OF Frogpond Farm Organic Winery IN Welland

Scott Strong

The wines are very earthy and dry, which came as a welcome surprise after so many generic wineries. The ice wine was among the best we have ever tried! Staff are great! The location is charming. 100% recommend the Cab-franc.

Vlad K

Awesome winery. Great selection of organic wine. Well managed place with a friendly staff. Cute animals and good looking outdoors to explore. Definitely recommend to visit this place.

Peter Wall

Ontario Canada’s pioneer when it comes to certified organic wine making. He’s a true wine master and his wine proves it. A must try during a visit to Niagara-on-the-Lake

Anna Khimchenko

This is my favorite winery in the Niagara wine region.

Perhaps the Covid 19 crises has impacted them, but our experience here didn’t align with the positive reviews we read. The person doing our tasting (which was $10 per person plus tax, and not redeemable as a credit toward purchases), although pleasant enough, seemed distracted and uninterested. The tasting was based on what she had open at the time. She knew the names of the wine we were tasting, but when we asked questions, she replied to most of them with “I’m not sure” or “I don’t know”. My wife and I got the giggles, especially when I leaned against the outdoor tasting bar and the the whole thing moved, nearly sending the wines flying. She was able to tell us a bit about the family history of the owners, so that was nice. If there was some place to sit down and enjoy the gorgeous weather, we didn’t see it (nor were we directed to it). We were the only ones there at the time, so volume of visitors wasn’t a factor. I would say that if you’re looking for a low key, noncommercial winery experience, and you already know quite a bit about wines, this could be an interesting place to visit.

Amazing wine, very friendly knowledgeable staff. The farm is very quaint, it's a completely different feel from all the other wineries in Niagara.

Yani Ioannou

Honestly small and good organic winery, with a farm complete with various farm animals.

(Translated) Really a beautiful little vineyard that is different from the others of Niagara-on-the-Lake in the commercial sphere. Nice little shop with tasting of products worked on the vineyard. However, a lot of acidity in most selections, unfortunately too typical of Canadian organic products. At the service level, it is good but somewhat cold. Whether you like it or not, during the tasting, it is essential to taste the Chamboursin, a rare grape variety in the region. For my part, I like the Love Child, which I noted 3.8 / 5 in Vivino.

A serene spot to try a wonderful wine.

This winery is amazing! Their premises are all wind-powered, the wines are organic and taste great, and the property is beautiful and perfect for a family outting. They have animals, such as sheep, ducks, chickens, and a beautiful pond of course!

Matt Leduc

Quaint winery in a pastoral setting

Lynn Holliday

Cute place, unusual wines, friendly service, reasonably priced tastings. Unfortunately I did not enjoy most of the wines I tasted.

Yugen Dean (Yugendean)

These wines are absolutely delicious, from the unique Chambourcin, to the crisp Riesling, to the Bold Cab-Merlot. Super friendly staff, with a peaceful Rustic setting. We only drink organic wine and tried the others in Niagara who pale in comparison to FrogPond Farm.

Kevin Wanamaker

Great organic wine, very friendly service. The animals there are really fun to see. Highly recommended and something different from the bigger wineries.

Natalie Vakhnytska

I love the Frogpond farm! Their organic vineyard is lovely. They have picnic tables outside where you can relax and enjoy the afternoon with a glass of wine overlooking the vines.. don’t be surprised if you make some new friends, there are chickens and sheep. Adorable! The wines are nice and fresh, their winemaker has been making wines for decades and is a master of his craft! This is Ontario’s oldest organic vineyard, true pioneers in the industry. Wonderful!

Wine By The Bottle

Quaint organic winery and farm in NOTL. The only place in Canada that produces the Chambourcin grape.

Laura Mann

Super cute place to try some wines! Their wines are all organic/vegan and are delicious. They have a nice spot with a few animals- sheep, chicken, ducks, and picnic tables to sit outside. The woman who did the wine tasting was very nice :)

Wonderful friendly place to visit. Every wine I've tasted were excellent.

Frogpond is a very small winery with interesting wines. My 2 favourites were Lovechild (which is partially made of icewine) and their Chambarchin. It's a very quaint place compared with the larger commercialized wineries in Niagara, but consequently has a great deal of personality. We were served by Aaron who was very helpful and funny. Frogpond's grounds also have sheep, chickens, and roosters on their farm and a fair bit of space to walk around outside of the shop.

Yuri Vitovsky-Remi

Wine is meh and that barking dog...

One of my favorite wineries in the area. The wines are amazing and I love to visit this place, have a break on a picknick table in the beautiful garden and enjoy being surrounded by farm animals, like geese, goats and chicken.

Very nice organic style winery. Helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. Janet was great, talking through our tasting. Tasting was done outdoors for COVID-19 regulations and booked through their website.

We came to Frogpond on a long weekend, during COVID and I adored this little winery. Sandra served our tasting, and was extremely accommodating, personable and full of knowledge. We had our tasting outdoors on the patio, she was thorough and didn’t rush us out. Extremely cute & quaint - made us feel like we were actual far from the city listening to the farm animals while sipping their lovely organic wine.

One of just two organic wineries in the Niagara region. We’re not wine experts but loved the whole line of wines offered during tasting. All their wines are dry but nice and fruity and easy drinking. The farm is quaint and homely and the free roaming animals add so much character and charm to the experience. The employee that ran our tasting was very knowledgeable and so friendly. She was more than willing to teach us about wine but also chit-chat about the farm’s history. You can only get this wine from out the farm store’s doors, they’re not distributed through LCBO so there’s great unique bottles to be picked up. We visited in mid-December and had a great time, we’re sure in spring or summer there’s an even more full experience, so we’re already planning to come back soon next year. Definitely recommend!

Eric Visser

Very quaint and quiet winery. Stop here for picnic tables under the trees and cool grass through your toes. Excellent Cabernet-Merlot.

Andrew Robinson

Had their wine at an event a Pinot Grigrio and a Gamey Noir even free they were too expensive

Casey Clarke

Great little place. The pinot noir is awesome!

Chris Diamantakos

Myriane Lacasse

(Translated) Excellent wine and quaint place. Pleasant for children. (Original) Excellent vin et endroit pittoresque. Agréable pour les enfants.

Sarah

The wine I bought, a Chambourcin, did not taste remotely close to what was tasted at the winery. The wine hadn't turned. I tried decanting, using an aerator and still couldn't get the same taste. It wasn't even the same colour.

Lissa Moore

Such a cute and friendly place. Personal approach, generous wine tasting and delicious selection. Coup de coeur! ????

Ethan Ferguson

Great little winery that is organic which is a nice bonus. Tasting are only 1.00(3.00 for ice wine). The wine is very good and reasonably priced. Especially liked the Cabernet Franc which was only 18.00 and also available in a half bottle.

Lincon Westman

Mr. Tech

Courtney MacInnes

Had the best wine tasting experience last week! I had no idea there would be so many cute animals, all well cared for. and the wine was delicious. I love how ethically the place is run, with no pesticides, and such a profound respect for the earth. My kinda place! Our server was such a knowledgable woman who really enjoyed what she does and it shows. :) All of us got a couple bottles!

melissa lindao

Quite nice place . Hospitality is amazing and a great selection of wines. Beautiful. Remember their wines have no sugars added so all of their wines are dry. Will definitely go back again .

Paul Koenig

We loved it, an unexpected place to find some unique wine and the animals were a great touch! Saw a couple newborn baby lambs. Sweet lady running the place. Put it on your trip!
