Worth the visit - great food great service
Found this winery at random on Google maps. Nice little find, kids had fun, had a nice glass of wine and lovely food.
Terrible service in fact no service at all. Made 30 minute drive to be told at 1628 they they were trying to close up and would not offer a tasting. Business hours advertised closed at 1700. Very rude staff.
Fantastic winery complete with restaurant dining and a smaller reduced menu for the outdoor dining area. Ample parking available and is only an hour from Melbournes Central Business District. Well worth the visit especially in spring / summer with Melbournes great weather
Was very excited to visit this place, however left feeling subtly discriminated against. The winery itself is beautiful and most of the staff is kind and accommodating, however we felt and noticed a difference in experience from all of the other patrons at the tasting section. We were the first to arrive and the last to leave as we waited to be served, and it felt like an afterthought once they serve us. I understand when a place is busy, but it's a bit disheartening when the staff takes their time conversing with the other patrons and rushes off before you get to ask anything yourself. Can't help thinking this wouldn't have happened if perhaps looked more Aussie or more formally dressed :/
Beautiful location and excellent food.
A beautiful winery, with great art and a broad selection of wines on offer.
Great food, great service, great setting and scenery.
Great food in a very pleasant atmosphere
Founded by the Kirby family, this winery is now managed by chief winemaker and General Manager Tom Carson. The story began when Robert and Mem Kirby, having been involved in the Mornington Peninsula region for decades, planted their first vines in this area in 1992. The Yabby Lake Vineyard was established in the sub-region of Moorooduc in 1998 and a year later, a parcel of land on Heathcote was plated to grow and craft a single vineyard shiraz. lovely meal, roast duck is perfect and the Syrah is delicious! Go on a sunny day and lap up the wonderful views too.
Love the big spacious vineyard they have there. Great experience of wine tasting for only. However, there’s so much haze from the bushfire when I’m there so I can’t enjoy the greeny view as I expected. Bad timing
As one of our most popular wineries to take clients to, we picked Yabby Lake as the venue for my birthday lunch. Food and wine were excellent with exceptional service and wine recommendations. Lunch was a 2 or 3 course selection and hard to choose as everything sounded mouthwatering. We opted for Scallops in the shell as a first course followed by Eye Fillet steak with Potato Gratin accompanied by a great side salad and to top it off a side of kipfler potatoes. We enjoyed everything. A Birthday experience to remember. Worthy of a 5 star rating and took a dozen bottles to enjoy in our own time. ❤️????
Lovely place to spend the afternoon! There are shaded spots away from the restaurant closer to the vineyard where you can recline and enjoy a bottle of wine. Came with friends and will bring my partner and family soon. Despite tastings being closed, they squeezed us in and we bought several bottles. Considerate service - waitresses were fantastic and one made a great pinot recommendation which we all liked. The cafe de Paris sauce was amaaazing. Lost a star as the scallops and dessert were just okay. The dried/crumbed chorizo didn’t come through very well.
Great staff, great food and lovely wine. Was a great day out
Lovely view from the restaurant. Great wine choice. Friendly staff.
Nice winery with beautiful views and great customer service.
Beautiful place. The food tastes good but far from fantastic. Moreover, portions are really small and with a high price tag. Based on this I would go another nice wine yard with better value for money. On top of this they tried to bill us for two wine bottles that we didn't order and apologies for that were not that impressive to say the least...
Great experience. The staff were very accommodating. Recommend the Pinot Noir for Red wine lovers.
A warm place, not fancy but comfortable. Perfect French style food. Love the duck leg very much! Highly recommend.
Great food, great wine great service! Well done!
What a find!
(Translated) A very high standard winery lunch. Very good service. Very good taste. (Original) A very high standard winery lunch. Very good service. 非常好味
This is such a lovely experience. Wines a delicate and delightful. Always impressed with the Rose and the Pinot. Atmosphere is perfect, dining optional, porch or garden seating available. Swing set for children. Choc Chop ice cream (drumstick) are also sold for children. Every late afternoon we've been graced by Kangaroos. Kids love to see them.
First visit here and a very impressive selection of wines on tasting. Fantastic location and will return to try the food here too.
Great wine, really great view, but so-so service and so-so food. It might have been a busier than normal day, but we were left waiting an hour for a simple snack plate and couldn't track-down our hostess to save our lives. That said, it does have a dog friendly patio, so that's a plus.
It must take effort to be this bad at customer service. Inquired 3 times for an invoice of my purchase so I can get reimbursed. Got one half baked reply and after that nothing. You lost a private and commercial buyer.
Lovely wine tasting, popped in Sunday. They had six bottles to try. Free tasting with purchase. Wines range from $30, then up. Partner was driver, and had a coffee, and they burnt it badly. Definitely stick to wine in the beverage department.
We visited in the spring towards the late afternoon and the grounds were beautiful. Our sommelier was helpful and knowledgeable, making solid, adaptive recommendations based on our palates. Highly recommend and I hope to return soon!
Simply amazing and super friendly service what a location and views. There is a large location of wine ???? on selection. The menu and freshly cooked meals on offer are second to none. A place for a special event or just to treat your self.
Great wine and relaxed atmosphere, terrific view, nice service. The 2018 outdoor summer bentos are not well priced, $35 for a small amount of chicken, rice and 2 small basic salads. The wagyu is grey, overcooked and $40.
I visited Yabby Lake 9/12/2020. The service in the restaurant was outstanding as was the food. Amelia and team were very wecoming and attentive. I could not have felt more welcome and the meal was absolutely delicious. I am a fan of Pinot Noir and the Yabby Lake Red Claw Pinot was superb in my opinion.( I know the Cuvee Nina also to be outstanding) . As a New Zealander I am familiar with great Pinot's & the Yabby Lake Pinots were right up there .... you won't be disappointed. Cheers Mike
Amazing lunch with friends last Sunday 6th February. What a lovely outlook to spend a Sunday afternoon, food was amazing, wine 10/10 and service from Lauren and the girls 10/10. We will be back to enjoy the wonderful, food, wine and service. Thankyou for making a Sunday catchup such a great day.
Consistently a Mornington Peninsula benchmark for great food, wine and service. Never fails to deliver!!
Really excelled with food and service, the wines and the views have always been superb. Hope they can revert to internal amenities soon as the outdoor portable arrangement is not ideal, particularly for women.
We’ve visited the cellar door before and enjoyed wines from this vineyard. Today we decided to have lunch, which was a mistake as it was awful. We ordered the prawn bento boxes, which were $40 each. The bento comprised two (2) tiger prawns - which had been burnt on the bbq, rice - which was horribly undercooked, a dumpling - similarly uncooked with raw pastry, and salad - which was fine. I was shocked, since the reviews of this place are very good.
Great setting and service with good food and wine.
Hidden gem! Visited for lunch today and the service, food and wine was exceptional. Peaceful ambience with beautiful views over the vineyard. Look forward to visiting again.
Great wine tasting (thanks Lawrence), great service (thanks Abi) and great food!
Really enjoyed the lunch we had here. Friendly staff, lots of room to move around and breath, and a delicious menu. Thank you!
Fabulous luncheon for 14 people at Yabby Lake Vineyard 2/3/19 - it was all we could’ve wished for (and more) - terrific venue, incredible food, wonderful wines, amazing staff especially Chris.
Simply Fantastic winery experience
Beautiful and spacious winery. Lots of natural light and had a very stylish decor. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Great service, wine and food!
Gorgeous place with some very good wines. They run a good tasting too. Not cheap but it’s well worth a visit and a purchase or two.
????????????????
Great food, wine and atmosphere! Never disappoints.
The wine was pretty good (PN was amazing), setting is beautiful but the staff were... not great. We did a tasting and the woman who was serving us (I want to say Narelle?) spent the whole time bragging about her work perks and barely told us anything about the wine. It really puts me off when the staff don't want to talk you through the wine (especially if you're paying for a tasting) it just makes me feel like they're not excited about the wines. And if they're not excited, then why should I be?
Beautiful scenery and lovely coffee BUT we got the distinct impression that the wait staff were not happy with our 4 and 7 year old having fun in the outside play area. It felt like they couldn't wait for us to leave. Disappointing :(
Impressive facade and stunning views, we came here on a birthday wine tour and were incredibly impressed. The service was courteous, professional and knowledgeable. Tastings were evenly spaced to appreciate the different flavours of each wine presented. We would love to return and enjoy this hospitality again!
It’s a beautiful vineyard and we were very excited to have a meal here but upon arrival we were greeted very abruptly and told to put our masks on (somewhat aggressively) before anything else was even said. It seemed a bit rude not being greeted upon entry for a winery when you’re coming to to spend good money for an afternoon meal and it wasn’t very welcoming. The food and the wine were quite nice but staff were a little less accommodating when serving and communicating with us seeing that we were a younger table and we noticed a difference in attitude. The 2 and 3 course meals were good but you will also have to consider vegetables as seperate option to this and pay for as a side dish. On a final note, after trying to calculate and return to our table with a new bill 3 times, we still found the next day they had overcharged us.
Beautiful venue, lovely staff and very family friendly.
Didn’t eat here but wines were delicious and served with a smile. Beautiful building in a rural setting.
Yabby Lake Winery, beautiful out in the sun you are sheltered outside the establishment on the lawn, great wines along cheese platters
Decent wines but the restaurant does not live up to the reviews. The food is OK but basic, especially for the price.
Really nice casual place to go for lunch and a drink. The weather unfortunately was quite cold but they provided us with blankets outside which was a nice touch. We were served by Narelle during the wine tastings who was great and very knowledgeable. Would definitely go back another time.
Extraordinary treatment for myself and my wife, as a professional sommelier I enjoyed the wines especially the 'blocks' from premium grapes. Restaurant offers delicious food with very good service.
We had lunch at Yabby Lake on a rainy Saturday. Ordered 2-course meal, chicken pate was great for sharing, both main (steak and baby snapper) were perfectly cooked, so tender! Choc hazelnut torte was so rich and delicious. Fantastic services, thanks Chris, Miki and Justine. Highly recommended.
Nice wine, cheese board and setting. One of the busier cellar doors in the area.
Great wine and lovely food for a nice weekend lunch. This is now one of a favourite wineries to visit locally.
Fabulous place with delicious food and remarkable wine. Very good weekend vibe with a special chillout athmosphere. The vine was great with amazing tasting and pairing each course with the most suitable wine to complement the dish. Fantastic experience. We would love to come back again.I would hugely recommend it to all gourmet food and fine wine lovers.
The food, service, view, and atmosphere was all perfect! I truly enjoyed every single dish and would highly recommend trying out!
Great food with nice atmosphere and surrounding. Friendly stuff and service. We had fish - beautifully cooked snd shared an antipasto.Great choice of wines.Pinot Noir was devine.
Simply beautiful meal, delicately flavoured, perfectly balanced. Can't recommend highly enough.
Everything was amazing: location, food, wines and service. Recommend!
Delicious wine, fantastic food, friendly service! Just a bid hard to get them on the phone, so if you know when you are going and have the time, make a booking via email. Enjoy the view :-)
Pretty nice winery. They have pretty good Pinot Noir. They also make Heathcote Estate wines here.. so they drive the grapes down from Heathcote to here and make the wine at Yabby lakes winery. Heathcote Estate’s best wine is their Grenache but it isn’t on the tasting menu, so I was a little bit disappointed.
(Translated) Good Wines I recommend Bacchus Wines (Original) Dobre Wina Polecam Bachus Wina
Great atmosphere, and food. Outdoor setting with a great view of the vine yard. Glass or two of wine, great way to spend a hot afternoon lunch.
Lovely relaxing atmosphere. Helpful friendly staff. Two or three course options. Delicious food and wine.
Beautiful lake and amazing view
I went for lunch in December with a small group. The drive up to the venue is lovely, relaxing and calm atmosphere in the restaurant and fantastic service. However the menu was a bit disappointing dining as a vegetarian, there were no options despite advising at our booking. I was served char roasted capsicum bruschetta with smoked goats cheese which was lovely and a veg frittata for main. The food was nice but I don’t feel it’s worth the price in comparison to the meat dishes. I will definitely give it another go and hope there are other options next time.
great place to take the kids
Delicious meal. Great wine, lovely service
Fantastic location. Beautiful laid out restaurant and vineyard. Tasting bar is compact probably the only criticism. Wines are very good, with even the entry level wines quite pleasant. The cheese platter was nice, coffees are very good also.
Lovely range of wines to choose from, great patio to sit and enjoy the vinyard views witha bottle and a grazing platter
Service here is very average. Food is ok but nothing to write home about. If you want great friendly service and good quality food I’d suggest another of the Peninsula’s wonderful vineyards.
Good views n food
Was a fantastic meal and the staff are great. Really nice wines too.
Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere and the view is enjoyable...
Delicious food and amazing wines. A great setting for lunch or dinner!
We visited on Sunday and enjoyed the two course meal for $75 pp. ????Pumpkin + Gorgonzola Arancini ????Baked half shell Bass Straight Scallops with Chorizo Crumb ????Slow Roasted Salt Bush Lamb, Raisins, Olives and Preserved Lemon to share Tried the Rose, Pinot Noir and Syrah, all were delicious ! A beautiful idyllic venue for a relaxing lunch and some terrific wines. Service was lovely and views are gorgeous.
Lovely service, pretty scenery, well priced! Get the potatoes!
Lovely staff, great wine and delicious food! ????
Lovely location, friendly service, a great lunch
took a Sunday drive to beautiful winery countryside, I chose Yabby Lake Vineyard, we didn't reserve a table just turned up. They were very busy, but the staff were friendly. Sat outside with wines & Salumi platter perfect.. I
Nice whites and reds, especially the Syrah/Shiraz
Beautiful view of the vineyards from the restaurant and interesting sculptures to boot.
I tried to make a booking for my birthday lunch and just got an answering machine. When I tried again I was told they already had a booking in that name. They gave me that person's phone number to check, whether it was a double up, which is a total breach of privacy laws. The number was unfamiliar to me, but I had to make 8 more contact attempts between their mobile, landline & Messenger. Despite me leaving all the booking details several times, noone ever confirmed the booking. All I ever got was a message saying call us back. When I eventually got through to someone other than a machine, I was told they could not fit us in. I wasted 2.5 days only to have to go elsewhere in the end. Not impressed! The next venue only took one phone call to make & confirm a booking. And later that afternoon someone from Yabby Creek left a message asking did I still want to go ahead with my booking. No I don't think so - never again.
Marvellous setting and top quality food. BUT the Syrah served with the meal was 2017 - too young. Plenty of promise. But top dollar for promise...
Just had a birthday lunch for my wife at Yabby Lake Winery and can highly recommend this venue. The service was excellent, the food fantastic. We had three courses from the menue and loved every mouthful. The trout and the scallop starters were delicious. The lamb shoulder for two was great and the deserts were brilliant. Will definitely visit again.
Booked in at last moment and they were very accomodating. Food was awesome and staff sensational. The Pinot amazing. We were even treated to a mob of about 30 kangaroos jumping through the vines. First time but we will definitely be back.
Great restaurant with a fantastic view.
Love the view and the friendly service
Excellent . Small intimate winery . Great food, great wine and great service .
QUALIFIED CHEF LOOKING FOR WORK
Incredible food, such a beautiful place. The views from the restaurant are so pretty. My friend and I both ordered the steak which was delicious. The arancini and trout were really good too.
Lovely restaurant and winery. Friendly staff and laid back atmosphere.
Nice
What a beautiful vineyard and fantastic wines
Visited this winery for lunch on 2.1.2020, sat outside and ordered lunch from the tent. Had a banto box, $40 went home hungry, as did all the others in our party. Every one is of the same opinion, if you are going to charge those prices then put a decent amount of food on the plate.. Will not be returning here again...
Really have had a terrible experience here today. First we got told that we had to sit outside whilst there were plenty of free tables inside for the entire time we were there. We had a 7 month old baby with us and it was 13 degrees outside so not sure how that works? We then tried to order and got told it was table service so waited for ages to get served. Then when we finally ordered and I had to wait for at least 30 mins for a cup of coffee which was strange given all the empty tables inside! Our desserts came out without any cutlery... safe to say we won’t be back!
Great dessert wine! Already had too much at other wineries so didn't taste more unfortunately.
Wine is great, didn't eat but did a tasting...staff were friendly but it was a public holiday weekend and I think they could have done with more staff at the tasting station.
