Effectively hidden away, this is one totally worth the drive. The view's are spectacular, the wine amazing, and the staff are very friendly and willing to chat about anything while you taste. Bring a picnic lunch, get a bottle of wine, and enjoy an afternoon.

We thought that we would visit one of the smaller wineries on our trip to get better service and help out a family owned business. There was nothing wrong with this place although I would have liked to see a more organized lounge area that was better stocked and labelled (like mission hill). We were promptly approached by a worker and asked if we needed assistance. There was nothing that suited our needs but we thought we'd pick up some bottles of wine jelly. Upon checking out, the lady behind the bar gave us a little bit attitude...perhaps because we were wearing a face mask, or we didn't buy any wine. No one deserves to be treated like a 2nd class citizen due to age, ethnicity or gender. We won't be coming here again.

Lovely experience. It was my first time going to a wine tasting and the employee was very friendly explaining the process and information on each of the wines. The seating area behind the building has a wonderful view of the valley. They allow dogs in a specific picnic area just not in the building. And you can bring a picnic to pair with a glass of wine if you don’t feel like purchasing a cheese and cracker board. ???? can’t wait to visit again next year.

The staff, the wines, the patio, the whole experience... *chefs kiss* WONDERFUL! Do yourself a huge service and check out this INCREDIBLE gem. We came out once a decade ago and have adored each visit we have made since. If you have a little time to enjoy the atmosphere, pack a picnic and buy a couple bottles and enjoy a glass on the amazing terrace patio. There are a bunch of super gram-able spots for pics and showing off those Okanagan winery vibes. The Baco Noir is a personal favorite and is like a diamond necklace, it goes with everything. (Yes you can quote me on that. ????) We always come home with at least a few bottles, and a happy smile. We will be back. ❤❤

Take them to this winery and share a sip . You may even bring your own sandwich and enjoy the beautiful patio. The wine is excellent and the winemaker is known for his outstanding Baco Noir and well crafted whites. Ancient Hill is the one on my list !

I’ve had the opportunity to visit Ancient Hill a number of times over the last few years when I visit my in-laws in Kelowna. Love this place. The views and gardens surrounding it are beautiful. The staff and owners are very welcoming. Would recommend coming here with some snacks and enjoying a bottle of Baco Noir or Rose when family or friends.

This is a beautiful winery! I wish I took more pictures. The scenery was amazing. The wine was delicious. We even saw bears! They said due to the wildfires in BC three family of bears came down for the summer/fall and have been eating so many grapes they won’t have any Pinot Gris from this year. They’re attitude: “the bears were here first; we don’t mind helping them stock up for the winter.” So, so sweet! This place is beautiful! Definitely try it out.

The best Baco Noir of the Okanagan. They only produce small batches with their own grapes. Service is very friendly and personable. Environment is great and they don’t rush the tasting (of course it depends if it’s busy), you take your time trying their wines while appreciating the view. Highly recommend!

Last time I came was wonderful. We had 2 tastings and with the purchase of the wine the testing was waved. The staff was awesome and warming. Had a really nice time. This second time was not so good. Felt like everything said about the wine was memorized from the menu. Also didn’t feel really welcoming as last time. Had 2 tastings and got a bottle of wine. At the end had a surprise that I had to pay for one of the 2 + the bottle which I feel ridiculous. The bottle was around $17 + 1 tasting ($4 the other was waived) and taxes. The bottle is like double of the price of the $4 tasting for 2 people, so I was like what happened since first time I came. Don’t feel like coming back for the 3rd time.

Living in the GTAi frequently visit the Niagara wineries. The first stop we made in the Okanagan region was Ancient Hill Winery, it did not disappoint. From the whites to rose and the wonderful baco noir, we couldn’t decide which one we liked the best, they were all beautiful on the palate. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly, the ambiance was rustic and reminded us of the wineries we visited in Italy And the nicest part were the grounds and patio, where not only can you have a glass of wine and food, they allow you to bring your own food. Before leaving the Kelowna area we will visit again.

This winery has hit the top of my charts even over Gray Monk. This was definitely a very ambient setting and catered to wine tasters than to the industry standards and levels like Gray Monk and many others we have toured. Ancient Hills had the life and the true flavour of being in a orchard. Like stepping into a Welsh or Celtic setting and stepping into a whole new world. There was no sterile feeling as many other winery’s toured. I appreciated the wine tasting from start to finish as my highlight was the menu explained all the different flavours one would experience in each wine tasted. I can compare it to Gray Monk which didn’t have that wall through or explanation when we did the wine tasting. Each wine tasted at Ancient Hills was a welcoming and pleasing taste to my pallet where Gray Monk was very metallic and only one kinda sorta appealed. Ancient Hills also would be an amazing space for a wedding and the care that went into the flowers and garden is one that is welcoming and appreciated. Ancient Hills brings in the true meaning of tradition, culture, family and value.

I was there for my birthday and the reason we chose this winery is because they had a policy in which if you purchase a bottle of wine, you can bring your own food to picnic there. Ancient Hills is a beautiful winery with a great view of the valley located near the airport in Kelowna. It's an estate winery meaning all their grapes are grown locally. I was surprised at how reasonably priced their wine is. I especially like their light bodied wine, Lazerus, for its versatility and the Baco Noir is a fabulous wine with more body. I also like that their Gerwurztraminer is a little less sweet than you'd expect. We are trying their Rose' next. It's said to be a little on the dry side, toon!

Had the best experience at this winery two weekends in a row. First time was for a bachelorette and they took us outside for a tasting for 11 girls. The second time was today with my aunts and cousin and we had the best tasting. We tried whites, rosè and red. Had wine and cheese and ended up seeing the wine making process downstairs. I LOVE this winery and Owen was our tasting man. He was incredible. He was funny, knowledgeable and so hospitable. I will go back and highly recommend. This is not the end. It is not the beginning of the end. It is the end…of the beginning. We traveled from Prince George, passed through Kamloops during Rib-Fest, and started our journey in Osoyoos. Seven days later, before checking from our hotel, my girlfriend had run up the tally. We had acquired 118 bottles from 59 wineries. I thought we were done, but she looked at me and declared we had to make it an even 60. She had selected the one to visit. Ancient Hill Winery, which was on our way out of town. We had checked out and started our return home, deaviating to hit up Ancient Hill, one of the most stunning, breathtakingly beautiful wineries in Kelowna. It’s not a castle or lakeside villa. It’s just a winery. No restaurant, no merchandise just great wine in a striking location blending Celtic and Dutch aesthetics into a cohesive package. Reaching Ancient Hill Winery is a bit of a challenge though given that Google Maps will confuse you. When it claims you’ve reached the destination, you must continue down the road before reaching the entrance. Don’t get discouraged and turn around; it will be worth it. The gardens and view from Ancient Hill are nearly unmatched, and they have tables open for a picnic as well. The winery itself is a rustic collection of natural wood, etched glass, and fake produce. The tasting bar sits atop of wine barrels and under aged chandeliers. It dominates the floor as it should. This is a winery, foremost over other concerns. It’s not an environment conducive for distracting children. There is too much in Ancient Hills that is fragile; this is an adult playground. The wines themselves are amazing and affordable. The Lazerus (not spelled wrong) is only $15, their Pinot Noir only $17, and they are good. Their distinctive Baco Noir I’ve seen nowhere else, and despite assumptions, does not taste like bacon (swing and a miss). In total, they offer six wines, and not one comes up short. We bought bottles on our first trip, making it an even 120 for that journey, and loved the experience so much that ten months later, when we guided our friends on a similar yet MUCH shorter wine tour only a few weeks ago, Ancient Hills was one of the few repeat visits. We loaded up again and are still sitting on two Rosés (2014, and 2015) and a 2012 Lazarus. My girlfriend absolutely adores Ancient Hill, and I can see why. It oozes personality like an open mayonnaise jar left out in the sun. That’s right; I could not have gone throughout this entire review without making at least one Dutch joke. My friend is Dutch so I couldn’t help myself. Ultimately, Ancient Hill was proof that we hadn’t gotten tired of wineries after so many visited, that true viticulture aficionados can still find stimulation after the fiftieth, hundredth, and thousandth winery visited. It’s what spurned us for our second trip the following year, why we plan a third in time again. Ancient Hill is why people visit wineries, as a reminder of why they exist.

Mmm this wine is good! Big fan of the Pinot Gris. Second visit here. Local cheese and honey too! You can watch the bees buzz all over the lavender then eat the honey those bees made! Bring your cute puppy and they will provide milk bones and fresh water (no doggie vino yet). You might be just as lucky and have the owner let you put your puppy on the table too!

The wine was delicious, very reasonably priced and the staff were friendly. The winery itself is beautiful, with a great view and many seating options. Although we came at a busy time, social distancing protocols were followed and I felt that environment was safe. I can’t recommend Ancient Hill enough!

My Wife and I enjoyed a wonderful tasting and tour at this special winery. Upon entry we were welcomed warmly with friendly and relaxed smiles. The owner took great pride in discussing the wine, the history of their journey from the Netherlands to this "little slice of paradise" and her families intent on making all their high quality wines affordable. We picked up a box of wine and my wife bought some jewelry which was handcrafted by their daughter. Highly recommend a visit. You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I love, love, love this winery. It is the best local winery around, AND THEY ARE STILL OPEN, WITH AN OUTDOOR PATIO TO SOCIAL DISTANCE where you can enjoy your glass or bottle of wine. You can even bring your own snacks or picnic lunch or dinner to enjoy there. There is plenty of space to keep your distance away from each other's bubbles. You are surrounded by nature and gorgeous views of the grapes growing and the airport. They sell candle holders and charcuterie boards from old wine barrels, jewelry, jellies, honey and much more. It is the best place to relax, unwind, enjoy the view and see the grapes grow. Some people say to stop and smell the flowers. I say, stop and watch the grapes grow. One day you will be drinking from those grapes. It really is the best therapy to enjoy a glass or bottle of wine and socialize with people in your bubble.

I recently visited Ancient Hill Winery and was helped by Jill and had an amazing experience! As someone who visits annually from Edmonton, I am always looking for new wineries to visit and I would definitely go back! Jill was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines they have to offer. She recommended types of wines I wouldn’t normally go for, but ended up going home with more bottles than usual! 10/10 recommend Ancient Hill for the environment and staff.

Their wines are fantastic would highly recommend trying the Reds, the Baco Noir and Pinot noir were great. It is with great reluctance I write this review. Not because the winery is fantastic, but because it is a hidden gem that I selfishly prefer to remain hidden. Firstly, the wine is fantastic! The 2019 Rose is a wonderful summer drink and the Baco Noir is a delicious red that I highly recommend. Second, the patio is the perfect venue to spend the afternoon on a nice sunny day. You can bring your own picnic food items and enjoy with the purchase of a bottle of wine! The staff were wonderful and they even gave our girls some freezies! I highly recommend :)

If you felt you had a bad experience (your history shows your in the habit of having bad experiences) that's fine, but to pull out the racism card SHAME ON YOU!!! I frequent this Winery a lot and have never had a problem, the staff and owners are always very friendly and welcoming. Might you look into yourself as you might be a bit of a racist yourself..to call someone you don't even know to be a potentially racist. Think before you write.

We just had the most wonderful and memorable morning at Ancient Hills Winery. We loved this place from the time we drove up to this welcoming garden. The tasting room is beautiful and we loved every wine we tasted. The staff are so lovely and warm. Poor experience with potentially racist bartender. We went in and was not greeted for 5 min as the lady behind the bar moved around getting bottles. We were finally acknowledged by a younger server, who led us to the tasting table. Upon completion, we went to buy a bottle, where the bartender once again chose to ignore us. When another man walked over, she acknowledged him, and asked if we were in line albeit we were there first. Truly poor experience, and would avoid if you are Asian.

Lets talk about wine... When you visit a winery, first of all you look up for the best wine. In Ancient hill you can have it, you just found the best pinot noir you can try in all Okanagen valley. They have 5 more wines, 2 reds, 2 whites and one Rose. Baco noir the best seller, pinot gris the favorite of whites and Rose they are unbeliavable. And if that was not enough you can find an incomparable view, but the best part is the people, incredible vibes and the best personal treatment.

Spent a beautiful afternoon at this gorgeous location. We were promptly greeted by kind and welcoming staff. The wines were unique and delectable. Knowledgeable servers helped us to pick out a bottle to enjoy in the garden overlooking the vineyards. Complete with choices of pairing cheeses and meats.
