You have the opinions of real people who consume the services and products of V. Sattui (Winery) near to the area of Wabana (Canada).
As of day the firm has a score of 4.5 out of 5 and that score is based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average score it has is practically the best one, and it's founded on a high number of feddbacks, so we may be quite sure that the rating is quite accurate. If people have bothered to leave their review when they are pleased, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to place tatings when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Winery is included in the category of Winery.
2nd time here and this time we brought our 2 young children aND loved it. Nice 45 min tour, good bbq, wonderful grounds and great experience not to miss. Danica was our guide as was awesome. She showed us and we tasted 6 wines and I asked for 2 more small tastes and she said sure :) we ended up buying 6 bottles. I even raved the juice they gave our kids was fantastic. She said it good w vodka too and I agree. I hope to make a 3rd visit again in a few years.
Solid place, good wines at good prices (inexpensive for their "neighborhood"), while it can often get crazy seeming busy, it is still worth a visit. I enjoy several of their wines and have for many years.
An amazing atmosphere completely ruined by rude staff. I get that covid rules restrict certain things, but the entire experience was ruined by the staff being rude. We spent a lot of money on tastings for pretty good wine. I purchased a lot of items but before I even attempted to open any of them I was scolded by a very rude employee. He told me I was not to consume any food in the tasting area, which was not my intention. The general tone, demeanor, and shortness of the staff completely took away from the experience.
We visited the winery in November we sat out in the picnic area enjoying the autumnal colours of the vines mixed with the Christmas lights while we ate delicious sandwiches from the deli. While we didn't sample all of the wines the madeira was excellent.
Great place for enjoying good wines and great food. Comforting environment with big, shady oaks. Try the pizza and Gelato -- super good, which is not surprising considering the chef is from Medissimo, Italy and consistently holds a Michelin star.
One of the best places in the Napa valley area for a serene calm relaxing enjoyable experience. I recommend their gamay rouge while picnicking out. Don't forget the deli for a large accoutrement of delightful snacks and meals.
Luis the person conducting our tasting was super knowledgeable, friendly and a nice person. Tried lots of different varieties of the wine..Most of it is reasonably priced also..
The wines are good. It the service is horrible to say the least. I went to the general tasting room. It's not expected of me to be a true connoisseur (I do drink more wine than I should) or buy cases. It the bartender hardly spoke a word or educated us about wine. Most we will get was a grunt and he would point at the description on the menu (not exaggerating) I hd to restrain myself from screaming. Ruined my day. Not recommended.
Great deli, fabulous selection of salads and cheeses. Highly recommended by me who used to live in Yountville. Good wine tasting and gift shop!
Had a great time wine tasting with my wife. Overall the staff was friendly although they can use a greeter in the market place to help orient newcomers.
It was a really good experience. Would highly recommend their desert wines. The Regina and Madeira. A chocolate upgrade with the Madeira is a great go.
Great picnic spot and the deli is amazing. The tasting was mediocre and felt rushed.
V. Sattui - it's the madhouse that you have to stop at - because you need to fuel for more wine tasting. As much as I'm very 'meh' about the wines, and unenthusiastic of the lunchtime picnic crowds (at seemingly EVERY day of every season), it's a great pit stop for lunch on the way up to St. Helena/Calistoga. The cheese selection is insanely good, and as with basically every other place that serves food in Napa the staff is incredibly knowledgeable. Plenty of bathrooms too!
This place is pretty cool. The tasting is the way to go, sit and try all sorts of wine and take in the awesome interior. Lots of helpful staff and things to buy $$$. From personal experience go to the food area before your tasting or you’ll have no money left but lots of snacks!
Had I known about this place before, it would have been the first winery I visit. This place you can skip the tasting and buy a whole bottle, open it on the grass, buy some cheese and enjoy out in the sun. Definitely a great place to drink wine and unwind and enjoy the food too.
Very good wine tasting experience. Great that you can go and share a few tasting glasses quickly at the bar rather than having a longer and more formal tasting experience at other wineries. The wines we tried were all excellent.
Fun place to visit. Large collection of wines.
A V. Sattui visit is always in order when in the Wine Country. The Staff are great. The Wine is delicious. People come from all parts of the world to taste and buy them. We have always done a picnic on every visit. The deli has everything one would need for the picnic. There are cheeses, hot and cold food and of course the Wine. Their souvenir section is diverse, by this I mean there is something for everyone to take home.
My husband and I had a great time and enjoyed talking with Denise! She was very kind and shared a lot of information about the winery and area. Thank you, Denise!
It's more of a deli and a gift shop in a cool castle with some wine tastings thrown in. Not the small local exclusive winery feel. Indoor tastings are literally in the same building as the shopping area, it's very busy and loud on President's Day.
Very dissatisfied with this winery and wine tasting. Our “wine expert” made us feel VERY uncomfortable with racy jokes and was not attentive. We did NOT learn a single thing about the wines we were tasting. We asked for a dump bucket and water and got neither and we’re told to throw the wine on the floor. For the amount of money we paid it was embarrassing and left a lot to be wanted. The grounds are very beautiful but save your money.
Great wine. Great cheese. Great BBQ. Great lawn. Great staff. Great experience. Not the best place for tasting though. It's too crowded at the tasting counter. Just buy a bottle.
Great service, delicious wine, market and food was also kickass. Highly recommend ????????
Came here for a last min scheduled tasting so super glad they could take us. Unfortunately and fortunately we had a few hours to pass. We stopped in and decided to go buy a bottle while we waited. The amount of open space on the lawn along the highway was excellent, well spaced and clean. Later we had out tasting session and it seemed like a totally different location. Unsure if it was the tasting overflow section or what, but having a tasting area below the bathrooms does not make for a pleasant tasting. Pro tip: buy a bottle and go sit out on the lawn, much less crowded, and cleaner air.
We were only in town for a couple of days and we're very pleased we took in V. Sattui. Dominico was pleasant and we'll informed. He spent time with my wife and I, asked which wines we wanted to sample and made sure we expressed our views on each wine. A wonderful experience, hope to visit again even though we live on the East coast.
Beautiful outdoor picnic with wine, cold cuts, salads. It's so affordable and the staff is so friendly and amazing. Do a tasting; you may get a free glass.
A decent winery with nice picnic spot...Jordan was really good in telling us all about different wines. We both somehow didn't liked their wines that much. Also I wish they had a changing table in the bathroom as this winery is condidcons as family winery. The picnic tables, barrel looks very pretty.
Wine and food lover, had a super disappointing experience at this establishment. With all the options you have in this area I wouldn't waste your time stopping here. Great on paper, very disappointing in reality. If you want to avoid wasting your time and money drive right on past this establishment.
We visited V Sattui for the deli, and it did not disappoint, great sandwiches! What did disappoint was the policy that we could not order a glass of wine, only a bottle. For two on a wine tour, this was too much alcohol. Also, not much seating in the garden. We considered a wine tasting, but the tasting area is in the deli, and therefore extremely public and loud. Not recommended.
We thought the wine here was the best of the handful of places we stopped on our visit. It's a great place for families and people who aren't serious wine connoisseurs. We enjoyed sitting outside and eating our BBQ, drinking wine, and enjoying the weather.
Had an amazing picnic here! V Satui has a nice market where you can buy your products and a bottle of wine. The space outside is picnic friendly and you can just enjoy the view and the space having your food and wine.
Janet the wine consultant, in the members section was FANTASTIC! She was incredible knowledgeable and friendly. We loved having her be our wine tasting server. We ordered a case of wine, however, and it took 30 minutes to coordinate through the upstairs tasting room, so that was really disappointing and something that V Sattui can definitely improve on.
I love this winery since their wine collection is amazing. A beautiful backyard for picnics and being dog friendly makes it awesome. I rated the winery only 3 stars instead of 5 since they could improve on their customer service and concierge during the busy season. They have a great product and I hope the customer service would be improved to match the quality of the wine.
Good deli section and gorgeous grounds but extremely crowded. The picnic area had easily 100s of people which is not a peaceful wine tasting experience for Napa.
Had a great time celebrating my sister in laws birthday! We enjoyed a fantastic lunch. I got a bread, salami and jalapeno goat cheese to make myself a delicious sandwich to compliment my wine. Some girls did the same, others ordered food from the barbeque which was fantastic! Cannot wait to go back to spend more time here!
Loved the experience Angie was very knowledgeable in the business the wine testing was exceptional.. I purchased wine after the presentation so that tells you it was great!!!!
Another birthday gift from the one I Love!! Enjoyed myself tremendously. Thanks honey. I definitely want to go back again.
Beautiful, Italian inspired winery with plenty of greenery and aromatic tasting room. The staff are amazing, friendly, knowledgeable and most importantly generous pours. Can definitely spend the day here in their gardens, bring your own picnic or grab a gourmet sandwich. Memorable experience and a must go on a sunny day.
Great place to come to pick up some deli style food, do a tasting so u can pick out a bottle of your favorite wine. You can sit outside on a nice day and have lunch with outside seating.
After a year-long job assignment in Irvine, CA back in 1985, my wife and I spent three weeks traveling by car north through San Francisco and spent several days in Napa and Sonoma. We visited about a dozen vineyards in both regions. Many had wine tastings and tours, but we rated the V. Sattui vineyard our favorite. V. Sattui dates back to 1885 and, although the current winery was built in the 1980’s, it has a look that could date back a century. V. Sattui is also a perfect venue for weddings and if your timing is right, you can witness a truly lovely event. We were fortunate to see one beautiful wedding from our four trips to Napa. V. Sattui produces an excellent selection of red and white varietals. We both enjoy the sweeter whites including their Gewurztraminer, Muscat, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc. The Johannisburg Off-Dry (1998) was an early favorite. Our favorite reds are Gamay Rouge, Merlot, and the White Zinfandel. We purchased a few bottles of each on our first visit in 1985, then began ordering cases by fax and later online every few years since. With interstate wine shipping restrictions, it’s been challenging ordering wine from CA and shipping it to OH. We’ve been back three times since our first visit and always enjoy a picnic-style lunch from their deli. Their cheese and bread selections are also superb. We were not too surprised or disappointed when the various tasting charges began. This is a business providing a service to wine lovers, and it’s excellent wine too. Any winery offering free tastings either isn’t established yet or doesn’t have a good vintage. Depending on weather, time of day, and day of the week, it can get quite crowded with guests and a bit frustrating if you’re there for a tasting without a reservation. Afternoons are the busiest. Our earlier two tastings were less formal and more enjoyable events where the sommeliers and guests had more time for interaction. The past several years have become more formal, much busier, with little time to interact. This is not deliberate, but a product of overcrowding from its popularity and success. If you’re from the east coast and haven’t yet adjusted to the PST time zone, arrive for tasting at 9:00 AM which is noon back east. The staff is overly friendly and helpful. We were never big wine drinkers before we toured Napa and Sonoma. But after our first visit to V. Sattui, we began educating ourselves on wines, subscribing to wine magazines such as Wine Spectator and attended the Cincinnati International Wine Festival. We began collecting unique wine glasses during our travels and hold annual wine parties for our friends. This is all attributed to V. Sattui Winery, so we thank you! We strongly recommend visiting V. Sattui Winery for anyone traveling through Napa.
I love V.Sattui!! Huge wine selection of wonderdul wines (over the last couple of years we have tasted most of them), very reasonably priced bottles, especially compared to many other Napa wineries. Great friendly staff and gorgeous grounds! Love their deli and shop as well!! It is always our first stop in Napa :)
Great selection of wine and cheese.
We visited on a Monday afternoon after 3 days in Napa. The wine was good, but by far the worst experience of our trip. Our server, Bianca, decided to converse with her friends the entire time and did not explain the wines we were tasting at all. This was a highly recommended winery from a close friend, but I would never recommend based on our experience.
A great relaxing fathers day @ V. Sattui wine tasting at the terrace.
Great day at the winery. Tried several wines. Also sampled different cheeses and balsamic vinegars. Their deli looked amazing Had a nice lunch in the courtyard Kids had grape juice while we sampled wine.
Decently large grounds but lots of people, so you will see your neighbor's picnic spread. The grounds are nice, with a large and delicious selection of cheese for free tasting and purchase. Service at the wine-tasting bar was a little bit cranky, but chat them up and they'll cheer up for you. He even offered the conoiseur in our group a delicious Cab off the menu. Pop in near the end of the day to be offered free tastings.
I have booked in Advance the daily Tour for $30/per adult( this is your basic wine 101 class). We took the first tour in a Saturday morning with a 90+ degree weather. It wasn't pack with people yet at 11:06 am when we arrived, no crowds yet in the picnic grounds but can see them preparing already for the BBQ.Parking was easy at this time of the day. The drive from San Jose to Napa valley took us 2 hours ( left at 9 am), hit some traffic at Oakland but the biggest traffic was when we entered the main road headed to St. Helena were most of the wineries were located, it was bumper to bumper. If you could skip Napa Valley in a weekend, skip it and go on a weekday you would like it more with less crowds. We were like 6-7 min late for the tour.I called 3x to the number enlisted at the reservation email to notify we were late due to traffic, but no one was picking up the phone instead a VM was the only option. Left 2 VM. I got No return call but at 11 am,our tour guide called and asked our whereabouts with no idea that I tried calling. Anyway,he handled it very well and very cordial. We made it almost on time because the group didn't yet start. There were 3 couples in our group( there was a large group who came late and missed the tour to the vineyard).I had some winery tours in the past but not in Napa Valley. The tour would talk about the wineries production of wine, the history of the winery, a quick education regarding wines and the Napa region. We walked through the other tasting rooms towards the back of the winery where the vineyards are. The walking tour does not allow you to walk far and will just show how the grapes are formed etc.Take a lot of pictures since you won't be allowed back outside once the tour is over. The tour guide didn't mentioned that nor offered a few minutes if the group wants to take a couple of pictures since the area was one of the picturesque area in the winery. The best area to have your wine tasting, in my opinion, is Tasting in the Terrace ( 1st came 1st serve basis) since you can sit down , relax and have the actual view of the vineyard and the the fountain and can take pictures /sip wine of an actual "winery"feel. The best part of the tour is the complimentary tasting in the cellar. We had 3 wines to taste in the actual menu and then had +2 other complimentary wine because one in the group is celebrating his birthday and 1 complimentary from the winery total of 5. It was great, not feel rushed, the tour guide was attentive to questions and needs this time.Bring your own Bottled water during the tasting, they don't give you one. By the time the tour was over, crowds have poured in and bathroom lines were long, and parking was crazy. I got a little tipsy and so stayed in the winery and ate lunch. Good thing a lot of seating areas aside from the picnic area to rest. Staff are very friendly and helpful. You won't be able to visit more than 2 wineries ( wineries open at 9 am,but who wants to go at 9 am, I started at 11 am) and have a good time ,plan to visit your top 2 and call it a day. It's fun but tiring in a very hot day and in crowds of tourists like yourself. SUMMARY: Visit 1-2 wineries with a tour or a sit down tour, enjoy the winery and call it a day, don't drive around. For the V.Sattui winery, take the Terrace Tasting or the discover tour
Enjoyable experience. Me and my girlfriend had a wine tasting with added chocolate tasting. We both loved all the wines and the chocolate. Will defiantly be going back and drinking getting more of their wines.
Beautiful place, delicious wines but even more delicious food. The market place has delicious foods, cheeses, dips and wines! Highly recommend to visit.
We enjoyed our wine tasting and our server Dom was friendly and quite the showman! The deli and marketplace have something for everyone, with samples of dipping oils and other treats. The downside for us were the number of kids, it really takes away from the experience. Young kids running around outside, monopolizing the food samples in the deli, dropping gelato on the fountain, it felt more like Disneyland than a winery. We like kids, but we left ours home on purpose! If you are looking for a quiet, adult experience, this is not the place. Wines were decent, but was the only place we didn't actually take bottles home.
My fiancé and I went here for the first time yesterday! Jack served us our wine and was fantastic as he walked us through the differences among the wines. We ended up shipping some home. The food in the market was delicious! We got a variety of different food and had a picnic on the beautiful grounds. highly recommend!!
Great service and excellent space to do wine tasting. Don't be confused by the picnic grounds - it's only available for use with food purchased from them.
We went somewhere else and it was rather snooty and very expensive, 4 of us over 100 dollars. We came here and purchased a delicious bottle of wine, a baguette, 2 cheeses, bruschetta and some paper plates and spent less than 60. Everything was phenomenal. We would highly recommend it.
One of the best wineries hands down in Napa! John and Bart did an outstanding job of providing a phenomenal customer experience! They were both very personable, friendly and professional all at the same time. Their wines are very tasty! Will definently spread the word and be back!
What a fun charming winery. We were told to check this place out by a friend and we had a great time. Our bartender Bart was awesome and super knowledgeable. He made the experience even more memorable with his stories. Cant wait to go back!
I love V. Sattui especially the dessert wines.
Though the wines were pretty good, this place feels very commercial and doesn't have the vineyard feeling at all. More like a grocery store/deli/wine store. While tasting wine, usually vineyards offer a cup of water, or breadsticks or something to nuturialize the taste or keep you hydrated. Here everything was available for sale. The staff during wine tasting didn't seem proud of thier wines, just doing thier job, pouring and moving on. Questions were answered by brochures and papers showing the prices. A bit disappointing.
The wine tasting is highly recommended. Monica took great care of us. 6 different wines per person in a tasting. You can also grab some food and couple feet away and picnic on the grounds.
Best winery in the area! Great deli, picnic areas with beautiful flowers and scenery, and of course the wines are spectacular.
Nice place to have lunch and taste wine. Be sure to say hi to Steve the wine cat!
easy access winery, tasting choices are good for the charge! Best of all is: food to buy available (awesome prices and WONDERFUL quality and flavored choices) and go sit outside in the picnic tables. MUST try: clam chowder soup...wow. best than any restaurant I had tried in the world (literally)!
Charming winery. Visited it back in 2009. Delicious wine samplings, and nice food store with varied and unique selections. Will certainly visit again. Forget about the "wine train" , especially if you are black. Go to V.Sattui, buy some snacks and a bottle of wine, and enjoy a nice little outdoor lunch. You'll be glad you did.
Not only the best wine I've ever had (even better than the vineyard I'm a member of), but wonderfully knowledgeable staff and beautiful grounds. 10/10 will go back again.
The Tower tasting is amazing and Marc a 5 star host. Wow... We just spent plenty of money too. Ha.
It was a perfect day outside on the lawn. Great day for a picnic and enough space for the kids to sit and enjoy themselves. We didn't have a reservation but we still had plenty of room to sit and relax and just space out. The grounds were clean and the staff was so welcoming.
Great place for Lunch, wine and everything else. Great selection of cheese, cold cuts, salami and all things Italian with Vino. Nice picnic setting outside to enjoy everything. Love it.
Fantastic wines. Our tasting Waiter? Steward? was knowledgeable and excited about their product. I mentioned tasting a specific wine 7 years ago during my first trip to California and they offered to bring me some even though it was not on the official menu we were choosing from! Then as an additional treat we were brought some port as "I couldn't let you two leave without having some of this, its my favorite" The Food/Market afterward made for a great picnic lunch. Just remember to take a number before you stand at the deli! As some poor folks queued ahead of me learned the hard way.
Great wine tasting with simply the best service staff!
Denise was awesome! Great first time experience will definitely be back soon.
Lovely grounds. Great building(s) and cellar. One of the best delis in the area - great to pick up some wine, cheese, meats, and have a picnic before our after tasting. Definitely recommend.
Always love visiting this winery. Amazing wine, good food and of course the staff..... shout out to Julie, wine concierge....she is amazing. Also meeting new people in the crazy state of the a world today... we'll be back❤❤❤❤
Always a good time. The employees are so informative. They know the wine and the stories behind the wines and I leave with a great story and knowledge .
Always fun to go here when you are in Napa. Great service and wonderful ambiance.
Favorite winery in Napa Valley. Fantastic Cabernet and Riesling. We had Sattui wine at my wedding, and even my beer drinking redneck family and college buddies were drinking wine.
Not for me. Too touristy and crowded. The pinot noir and maidera were amazing and the host was knowledgeable. However there were too many people and they didn't have any promos like buying multiple bottles waive the tasting fee. The market is a nice touch to pinic but still too crowded.
We had a party of 25 for a birthday and called in advance everyday for a week. When we arrived they refused to take us and feigned ignorance at all of our calls beforehand. We wasted buying a shuttle to Napa for the entire group thanks to their dishonesty. Claimed they only took groups of 10 when we arrived and wouldn't let us break into groups of 10 either.
Good wine tasting but a little mundane. Seemed more touristy than other wineries. The wines we had were good!
We were seated in this back area which was nice, quiet and some exclusive feeling. Dog friendly. Even on 90+ hot day the shade kept it manageable. Host was great, wine was great, will happily go back.
Great experience in everyway! Very friendly staff that's knowledgeable and excited to have you experience the different products to find what suits your taste best... Gorgeous grounds, a beautiful place to meander around a slow life down. A fun gift shop to grab souvenirs or essentials...be ready to have a difficult time choosing your favorite cheese! Thanks Jack, Preston, and Kimberly for the great experience!
Many visits to this outstanding winery. Also, my wife and I were married during one of their outstanding Tuscan tours at Castello Delle Serre. Dario and company do it like no others... An absolute "MUST" on your trip to the West Coast.
What an experience ????. 1st class all the way. Starting with the staff and then the wine tasting. Bought several bottles to take home.
The best winery! The deli and cheese counter can't be beat as is proved by how busy it gets on weekends. Plan on spending at least a half day to enjoy the grounds, the deli and of course the amazing wines! The Madeira is a must, as are the zins and malbec. Take your time and really enjoy the tastings.
Very very happy at reopening of winery. They are strictly following CDC guidelines. One must wear mask and keep social distancing when possible. Tables are available with sign up. Food is also available. Kinda crowded but still keeping the flow well. Will recommend to all. Thank you.
Took a trip to Napa specifically to experience this place because they sell a boatload of wine and all of it direct to consumer. Went their twice on our visit. First visit we concentrated on the deli. Great selection, but thought they could improve on the customer experience. Not a fan of get your number here, stand in line to order here, pay at yet a 3rd place. Also, was disappointed in the graffiti covered wood picnic tables set on grounds covered in wood chips. I was expecting a more park-like setting, but this felt more like the state fair. Plus every table was filled - great for them, bad for me. I must admit I was intentionally trying to visit them at their very busiest to see if I could pick up some good tips on crowd management. The second trip we devoted to wine tasting. There were 15 servers and 49 people tasting when I was there and yet I did not wait or feel rushed at all. Twice I was approached by servers who invited me to personally taste wines at their station. This was done quite nicely and felt like a private invite - not a hard sales pitch. Wines were explained well, served in nice glassware at appropriate temps. Loved the tasting menus that included so much information about the wines and the winery. The wines were decent, and if I had upgraded to the reserve selection, I might have been more wowed. I was wowed by the fact that they have 50,000 people in their wine club - 50,000!!!!!! They're doing lots of things right!
We always stop by V.Sattui whenever we are on Napa trip & we visited this morning (labor day). It was early morning and we enjoyed beautiful property & its deli shop without much crowds until my 5 yo son was trying to open some cabinet door on the pathway near stairs. As soon as he tried, staff (a guy in his 50 or 60's) approached to him saying it's dangerous. I said sorry as well as my son said the same, and the guy just shook his head and walked away without even looking at us. How rude was that? I got mad at his attitude but didn't want to fight in front of my kids, and decided to write my experience. It's shame they lost a customer like that. And please lock doors if it's not safe. This winery is family friendly property.
Went here with my wife and 2 year old daughter for our wedding anniversary. This is by far the most kid friendly winery in the area. We bought the German Potato Salad, Pesto Pasta and Chicken Pesto Sandwich from the deli. They have a nice picnic area where we enjoyed the food. The place was super crowded but we managed to find a spot. Later, we went back to the store and bought some wine (and grape juice for our daughter). The staff is super nice and helpful. It made choosing the wine very easy. Would definitely recommend visiting.
This place is very popular. If you have a large group, you will need reservation. Parking here is pretty difficult too. Tasting: Tasting is pretty cheap here. If you know what you want, get a bottle and share as a group. They will provide you cups. Scenery: Great for picnic and getting lunch. You can't bring your own food. Plenty of grass space. There are a lot of ben
Super crowded, hard to get to wine tender (no lines). Menu is obsolete. Wine selection is so so.
Great wines my wife and have been going there since 1977 . I buy future's on cab and pinot's . The zin's various old vine etc. We have picnics and go to many events,.
Great experience! Luis was our bartender and he was so warm and made us very comfortable. He was very knowledgeable about the wines and super sweet. The tasting room had some great food and everyone there was having a great time and it was like drinking at your local bar. Would definitely go back!
The white wines were my favorite, the grounds are beautiful, and their homemade chocolate truffles were beyond amazing and beautiful. It’s children and family friendly. Their deli had delicious triple cream Brie and aged Gouda cheeses that were so tasty. Most of the staff was wonderful however the server for our tasting outside under the umbrella, Justin, was not great. I’ve never been so rushed in a tasting in my life! He TOLD us which wines we wanted to try without listening to a word we said and his performance was cheesy, stale, fake, and rehearsed. There was no water. No buckets for when you don’t wish to get tipsy. We had to remind him we bought the chocolate pairing before he served the last wine, and I couldn’t even have 2 minutes to fill out the order card before he was stealing it out of my hands… really! I ended up marking the wrong wine and bought a $100 bottle I didn’t mean to. It’s a good thing the wine and rest of the winery is so great because he could have easily ruined the whole experience. No idea why he has a job there. Read a similar review from someone else on Yelp.
Ed did a phenomenal job explaining the wines and injecting his awesome personality into our tasting. Winery is beautiful with plenty of seating. Lots of cheeses and breads. Only negative is that the men's room is tiny. 2 urinals and 1 stall. Tiny.
Make sure to ask for Carlo if you do the tasting. Hands down best guy ever!!!
Excelent place, l love to buy lunch and a bottle of wine and sit at the picnic tables that are on the premises and enjoy a great time. I realy recomend it.
I really loved the grounds and the deli/shopping experience. I thought the picnic table area was super nice and convenient very family friendly. The wine is excellent and there is no arguing that point. You could get a bit of a sense of the wine making at this winery if you walk around. The tasting itself was nice, the person was super friendly but really lacked the excitement of learning about the wines and what made each different. I understand with Covid19 no one goes overboard but people aren’t just interested In taste but also the winery history and process.
This place was magnificent! The Wine was beyond my wildest dreams and I can't say enough great things about the staff. Even sweet Roberto came out and practiced Italian with us! We will be back!
Friendly staff. Great wine tastings and food options.
Julie was our sommelier and she was so knowledgeable and personable. We came when COVID restrictions limited capacity to 25% and we did not have a reservation. Julie graciously accommodated my friend and me and never made us seem like an inconvenience. The wine was good tasting. Nice little market inside for food and souvenirs also. Pretty outdoor area as well.
This place was fantastic for both wine lovers and non-drinkers like myself. At the end of the wine tour I pretty much had an entire bottle of their crafted grape juice to myself and it was hands down the best juice I've ever had. Our crew wound up buying three bottles to go. The tour guide Robert was elaborate and knowledgeable on our tour and during the tasting. Highly recommend.
Had a wonderful wine tasting experience. Our host Oscar was very well verse in his knowledge about the wines. Will return at a later date.
I wish I could rate this less than 1 star. Our server Bianca was not only rude, she was not helpful, and she barely said anything to us during our tasting. She didn't explain the wines to us or anything. When I asked about a military discount she sighed and said "it's complimentary." Ok, sorry I asked? We decided to purchase one of the Cab's , some cheese and salami--and it got even worse when we were checking out. The guy didn't look at us once didn't even thanked us. We're not going back here.
I only wish so many people hadn't found out how great this place is! Beautiful grounds for a picnic and nice deli to go with your wines. We bring Yahtzee and dominoes and make a day of it. Relaxing and great wines which can only be purchased direct from the winery. We belong to the Wine Club and love it!! Edit: Sadly, after enjoying V Sattui for 40 years, it's not what it used to be. No longer 5 Stars. Cancelled our membership after our last visit, even that took 3 emails AND they billed me a full month after my first request to cancel. Pre-ordered and paid for a limited release bottle. When we picked up our order they had sold out, even though I had prepaid for it. They sold MY wine. Went to do our free wine tasting and were given one glass with instructions to share it! While discussing the missing bottle of wine, a dog at the tasting bar started to bark, and bark and bark. Not a word from management. Keep your untrained animals at home! We will give it one more shot, as the grounds are lovely and we enjoy the wine. What was lacking was pleasant customer service.
Refused to serve us water at our $50 wine tasting and forced to use an external bathroom (they shut their main one down for everyone who was not a part of the scheduled event, although there were maybe ten people there for the scheduled event), bathroom walk would not have been bad if it wasn't raining cats and dogs outside, so I got drenched on my 50 yard walk to the bathroom and on my 50 yard walk back from the bathroom. Service team had no empathy.
Beautiful property with great photo opportunities. If that’s all you’re looking for in a winery you’ll be happy here. Now to the negative. The wine tasting is a complete scam. We got zero interaction or tasting notes. The host was more of a waiter taking orders and pouring wine. After the first round of Chardonnay he poured the Cabernet into the SAME GLASS without even rinsing it. There is no water to cleanse the palate between wines but you can buy some by the carton from the store. The wines are inoffensive and unremarkable but even if they were great the contempt with which they are served would still own this pace 1 star.
A welcoming, pet friendly, family friendly institution. I recommend visiting during the weekdays to enjoy and savor the tasting. Our group appreciated the hospitality---thank you Nichole and Bart. The Cabernet, Muscat and Riesling were amazing. Regina topped with the Riesling was a special treat. Property highlights: views, space and the overall vibe.
A great place for family picnic with good food and decent wine. Very good if you are in Napa wine country and just want to improvise and have fun. No appointments or reservations required.
TIP: If you want to experience V.Sattui it's best to come right when it opens or right before it closes because in between it is super crowded and it isn't much of a delight when there is a ton of people and long wait for everything (wine tasting, deli, BBQ, etc.) COME EARLY if possible. Now since I got that out of the way I have to say I completely adore this place!!! The first time I came Gabe took great care of me and friends. The second time I came it was a coincidence Gabe was my host again and this time really shined with his knowledge and keen sense on recommending great wine. More than the Gabe being awesome, the wine was something to think about. When I tried their Madiera I thought about that wine once a day until I came back to Sattui the second time around and it was still amazing the second time around. If you check in on Yelp, you get a two-for-one tasting for $15. Their deli and BBQ is on the pricey side but it is completely worth the money because everything was filled with flavor. The only thing I have to slightly complain about was their desserts. I tried the tiramisu and chocolate chip whoopie pie which did not satisfy my sweet tooth. The tiramisu was soaked a little too much in some liqueur and the whoopie pie tasted too processed. I do recommend getting artichoke cream cheese dip, their chicken pesto sandwich, and their crab cakes. Their mustard shrimp had a hint of horseradish which completely threw me for a loop; it was okay. I love V.Sattui so much I will be getting a membership soon since it is very worth it and I like to receive complimentary tastings. I would have gotten one sooner but I can't afford having more than wine membership at a time. V.Sattui is a great winery to visit and it sets the bar high for other wineries in the area. It's a great place to enjoy Napa at its best! ^___^
It's one of my favorite wineries near Napa. Went there twice and was very happy and satisfied. There is BBQ in weekends. There is a nice outdoor dining area where you can enjoy the food and drinks. Their wine is also good.
The guy at the front entrance welcoming people, and the guy who worked in the vineyard were very friendly. The people working in the shop were curt, bordering on rude. Such a disparity in customer relations and am perplexed how this is possible for staff working in the same winery.
Tasting waiter seemed very uninterested in giving a informative experience and just focused on pouring the wine and moving to the next person. For $50 I expected a better experience compared to multiple other places I have visited here. Step up your game.
its good to be back! This time its saturday.. a lot of people. family picnics. private party. tourists. all here including me. #LocalGuidesSox #roadtripus #vsattuiwinery
Beautiful place with great options in the deli and also cool picnic tables for big groups. I recommend the dry zinfandel!
Just visited today at 1p, got there a little early and they were able to get us in and even kindly gave us seats inside since it was raining outside. The wine tasting itself was a bad experience. The man giving us our wine was short with us and gave us very little info about what we were drinking. We had also asked for chocolates with our wine when we reserved and were given none, despite it being written on our reservation slip. We were supposed to get 6 wines, and my partner got all 6, but for some reason I was only given 5. Lastly, I was hoping to buy pinot noir here, so I asked our server, and he said he did not have any. Seconds later, I watched a different server give people, who did not have wine tasting reservations, a sample of a pinot noir. Don't know what happened today - was planning on spending a lot of money on wine and food, but after wasting $100 on a terrible experience, we just left.
Cannot give 5 stars. Bought a high end wine and expensive deli food to eat on the winery grounds. We could not get a wine glass but instead were only allowed plastic cups since they said the wine glasses get taken . For what we spent, the winery should go to the dollar store and procure some wine glasses.
Went for a tasting today and started with John. John was phenomenal but unfortunately Justin took over. Justin was rude, uninterested and disengaged. I specifically asked to try the merlot twice. He insisted on a Cabernet. I don't like Cabernets. I then didn't get to try the merlot. I was extremely disappointed and left wanting my money back for my tasting. I enjoyed the other wines. I enjoyed the other people like John. It was a beautiful place with great wine but unfortunately Justin left a really bad end to the day.
Great place to do the wine tasting, the staff is super nice.
Really nice place (building, many homemade excellent products, exceptionally good wine and Madeira!), but due to too many people and stressed out staff (some very kind, some unfriendly), the athmosphere is lacking...
The service here is amazing, the staff is super knowledgable and fun. If you go there ask for Edwin super nice guy and will make your experience more enjoyable.
Great food, wine and experience.
I love the wine here and their market/deli is delicious. Their picnic area is open to the public which is awesome for a mid wine tour lunch stop. If you buy a case of wine you get a membership with them for free FYI, and with a membership you get free tastings. Otherwise paying for the tastings can sometimes add up quickly.
They gave us extra dessert and red wine apart from usual tasting. Loved the overall experience!
nice wines. also has food to purchase and eat outside. not allowed in the tasting room itself unfortunately. sweet wines were really good and they also have non alcoholic grape juice that tastes like nector :-)
We had a wonderful time doing the wine tasting. Rather than make selections from the list of options, we instead let Bart know the kinds of wine we tend to enjoy and he was able to stun us with his selections. He was incredibly helpful and us putting our faith in him was well rewarded. Highly recommend V Sattui and doing the tasting especially if you have Bart helping you.
Excellent wine in a fun outdoor atmosphere. Many younger people out when we were there. More than I’ve experienced at most other wineries. Not sure is was just a random occurrence or the way the brand speaks to people. Either way, we enjoyed our time here and will definitely make our way back here someday. Highly recommend this place if you want to sip tasty wine, paired with bites from their local market onsite in a fun outdoorsy type spot.
It was very pretty atmosphere with some great wines but I placed a large order for wine to be shipped to me. After specifically asking if they ship to Wisconsin, the host took my credit card quick enough to run the transaction but didn’t specify that the wine was only shipped of the area is over 30 degrees. Where I live it won’t get over 30 degrees closer to April. I wish that was brought to my attention prior to her making a sale. I only found this out in an automated email that was sent a week after my wine was supposed to ship. I emailed and called twice with no response whatsoever.
Beautiful grounds, good wine for the price, but it was a bit crowded for our liking. However, especially considering how busy they were, the service was still great and congenial. They're more commercial than some other wineries, but good value for what they provide, and a great place for a picnic.
Lovely place and friendly staff. Did the wine tasting and Bart helped us out. Really nice guy and knew his wine. His suggestions were great and he even gave great suggestions for the deli. The picnic area was nice and they were very thorough in their cleaning of the picnic tables. Great place to visit.
First time back in 11 and 1/2 years. Still great food, service, and atmosphere. When I lived in the Bay Area for 10 and 1/2 years, I always took visiting family and friends here for a picnic, and Domain Chandon right down the road for the best winery tour in the Napa and Sonoma wine country regions.
Amazing as always!! People are V. Sattui Winery are always courteous and friendly. We tried the best dessert wine/brandy (50/50) ever! Highly recommend Madeira, perfect for a cold day! Not very sweet at all!!
One of the few deli winerys that you can picnic and drink in Napa!!
Terrific experience. Wine tasting was superb as all wines tasted. Domenico the sommelier has been very welcoming and so knowledgeable. We all found a piece of Tuscany here. Thank you.
V.Sattui so much variety. Just stopped in with my Sister to pick up a few bottles of Sparkling Grape juice. Great customer service , friendly atmosphere.
Mediocre at best. Coming from Caymus and Whitehall Lane, where they really seem to be proud of the wine they make, V. Sattui was a massive let down. We didn't hear any background about the winery and received zero information about each wine. It was just a quick pour and on to the next table. The wine wasn't great either; I've had better wines that cost $13 a bottle. Their sister winery, Castello Di Amorosa, wasn't much better in terms of service or wine quality. It was clear to us that they care more about gorgeous grounds than the quality of their wines. With a pricey tasting, along with the upgrade we paid for, we expected much better.
Good winery with picnicking and shopping options. I loved the panini with bresaola. It was so crowded that I couldn’t have the energy to try and taste the wines. There is a separate bar just for tasting that I found out a bit late and we had to leave. Try that one for tasting and stay away from the crowd.
Fun wines, great Mediera and famous deli. Lovely grounds. A fun stop
This is one of my recommendations to friends on their path to enlightenment. The tastings can be spotty on the quality of service. But the wine! That's what you're there for right? For me, it's Angelica.
Overall the place looks more like a supermarket than a winery - loud, bustling and not much human interaction. Wine tasting: you are given a list to choose 5 of the wines, the tasting notes are written down. Some of the wines are good, some are not - this is personal choice, but there was not much of their introduction - the host wanted us to buy a case, didn't really answer questions and rushed to the next customer. We had to buy water separately. The cheese chop is a nice one - has a lot of variety. Overall a subpar wine tasting experience but a good cheese shop.
This nice winery offers guest not only wine but also gorgeous picnic area, food, and lots of side dish for Wine. View around picnic area is amazing.
Wonderful sandwiches. Delicious kale salad. Stay away from the gnocchi and....no water fountains on the premises to fill your own water bottle.
A must stop. Love their sweet wines. Due to COVID-19 reservations are needed on weekends. I came on Thursday and it was nice there was Tasting and their deli is amazing.
Great place to taste wine.Staff is knowledgeable and very hospitable. We signed up for wine tasting and the experience was really awesome! Must try - Maderia, California dessert wine!
AWESOME EXPERIENCE! We were visiting California and Oregon coast from Georgia. We just happened on V.Sattui while spending a day visiting wineries and by far they had the best wines. We had already eaten or would have loved to try the outside restaurant. Wonderful atmosphere and experience. A MUST visit winery!
Nice winery but crowded with people!!
Amazing wine experience. Place has nice ambience. A good place to go around sunset.
Had another great visit at V. Sattui winery. I am a local Napan and love to bring visitors to the Valley to Sattui as their first stop. Sattui is set up for visitors that are new to wine and Wine Country. Some like to disparage Sattui as too touristy or too commercialized but I strongly disagree. Sattui makes fabulous wine and has price points accessible to most as well as a staff that is trained to lead the uninitiated through many different wines, from beginner to the high end complex wines of far more "exclusive" wineries. Wine should be accessible to everyone. Leave the snootyness behind and just come have a great afternoon and take home some world class wine, whatever that means to you.
Had a very nice time here. I think the outdoor situation is quite festive and fun. It definitely makes for a nice picnic and fist stop in the valley. I got a chance to go downstairs and really it made the experience more pleasant as we weren't rushed and the hostess showed a good knowledge of wine and social manners. it was a large group and she kept us all happy enough to walk out of there with several cases.
Great food inside (deli, etc.) and outside BBQ. Prices were ok. The grounds are nice, with space for kids to run around, and the staff is very friendly. Parking is free, too. Highly recommended. :-)
I have visited here several times, specially when I take guests on a Wine tasting trip. They have good wines on the Wine tasting menu. There is a small market, where you can buy cheese, dips, bread etc. There are several picnic tables, where you can sit and enjoy the wine and appetizers. Great place to visit on your Wine tasting trip.
Bring a picnic blanket and chill under trees with some delicious cheese and wines. Beautiful summer day! ????
PHENOMENAL. If you ever visit make sure Brien takes care of your wine tasting. He's knowledgeable, kind, and shared lineage with the founder.
Nice place to visit and the service is quite good. The wines are the type that appeal to the mass market. If you are a real wine geek, look elsewhere. Great picnic area and gourmet market for food and drinks.
This is a beautiful winery with many good Cabernet Sauvignon options. When we went, it was a busy day and they were very understaffed. So the service was noticably slow, but the staff did their best and were really good with their explanations of the wines. The sweet wine options were good, but very limited though.
Beautiful and fun tasting in the reserve room with Marc 'with a c'. Marc is incredibly educated and willing to share his knowledge. His personality shines through in an amazing tasting experience. These wines are simply wonderful. Please come enjoy!
This place has been a part of my life since 1981. Their Madeira is the best I've ever tasted. It has grown significantly and changes with every return. They did just start charging an admission price ($20 which can be used for a tasting fee or redeemed for items in their extensive gift/ cheese/ foods shoppe). I always spent this much when there, so it was no big deal, but alas, it had changed and changes impact the memories once held.
First time doing wine tasting and came to a perfect spot. Nice place, very beautiful. There's tables to sit down and eat your food and drink wine that you've bought, no outside food or drinks are allowed. Dogs are allowed if you happen to have them with you. There's also a lounge area away from the other seating area. Benches are also available to sit and eat. Overall great experience and definitely recommend.
Magical place and great wine tasting We took some snacks from the deli which were great too. Super recommended
Not a huge fan. But the wine we tasted was good. Very crowded, they several wines of varietal. But some are available for tasting. You have take your chances
Lovely staff. Clean place. Wine tasting is good and the guys who serve the wine are very knowledgeable and friendly. And their collection of wine is amazing and even if you are not a wine drinker they will still find a wine of your taste and you will love it instantly. I strongly recommend visiting this place and no wonder they got the best winery award as well. Great work guys
Great wines and services!!
What an experience. We had a reserved tasting with Marc, who is practically family with the family vineyard owners. He was passionate about his role there and made our time there. Every wine tasted was delicious. The market was great and u can picnic on the grounds after the tasting. Thank you for an exceptional experience.
This is an awesome place that we just happened to stumble upon!! It’s very crowded but that’s drawn us into. We had such a wonderful experience of wine tasting. I love the deli shop, they offer a wide variety of cheeses, olives, bread, salad and much more...but be sure to order theirs delicious sandwiches. Beautiful, friendly, fun, cozy, and clean environment.
Outstanding first Napa experience. We loved the tasting and bought some wine to take home. We also bought cheese and crackers for a picnic on the winery grounds. Our favorite wines were the old vine Zin, the Cab, and the Medeira. Great experience!!!
Great selections of wine. Beautiful grounds, well kept and lush. Emily our wine hostess was awesome. She introduced us to some friendly sweet tasting wines. so good we bought some.
Great place to visit. Loads of interesting foods that go great with wine and a reasonable selection of house wines. All the dips have samples. We didn't eat here in the picnic area but there are many tables and beautiful areas to eat on a sunny day
I am readily rating this place five stars. I was so fascinated by the taste of their Madeira! This red wine has some peanut taste in it and it gave me a totally new sensation! Also, enjoyed their cellar touring where I could observe the scene of winery storage first hand...and simply it was intensely impressive!
We went to the deli and grabbed a few sandwiches and a caprese salad. I expect to pay a little more here for lunch and also expecting good quality ingredients. The sandwiches were very good, but the caprese salad was not so much. It's basically mozzarella balls with grape tomatoes tossed in a pesto dressing. The tomatos were not ripe and were sour instead. Just plain awful. If ingredients are that bad, don't make the dish and save it for a better day. They have great stuff here, so they should know better.
Stellar experience as always! Trey is amazing ????
Not good place for wine enthusiast. They offer decent deli and snack, great selections of cheese. It was crowded with many people. It was almost like farmer’s market.
This is by far one of the very best wineries that I have visited! I love everything about this place, the wine, the food, the merchandise, the grounds. The Madeira, Angelica, Gamay, and Off Dry Riesling are all must haves!!!!
Definitely one of the best wineries I visited in Napa! Big Ed was a great “tasting pourer.” They were one of the few wineries that had cheese and bread that you could enjoy for lunch. So that is highly recommended!
Great winery. My family has been going here 40 years.
My husband and I purchased a bottle of gamay rouge along with lots of food to have a picnic at the winery. The wine turned out to be VERY sweet. There was no indication on the bottle of the high sugar content. When we tried to exchange the wine, we were refused. I have never in my life had an establishment refuse to take back undesirable wine. This will be our last visit. The management has no idea how much revenue will be lost from their poor judgment.
Pleasant place to taste a variety of wines. Covid has changed things a bit. There was only one person conducting the tastings for all the parties there. The employee did a good job. We stopped at the deli and purchased items to create a fun cheese board to accompany the wine we purchased.
Great place to go visit and do some wine tasting. The place is fabulous outside. Beautiful scenery and yes, wine is great.
I have photographed a wedding at this beautiful venue in March of 2018. It's a really gorgeous wedding venue, both outdoors and indoors. We got to create amazing images at the nearby vineyards, and just the whole winery provides a lot of beautiful locations of photos. I would highly recommend this venue for any wedding or other event.
Very disappointed. 1 Star only for the membership. Wines themselves are fantastic, but just disappointed that we did not get any discounts for joining. You only get discounts when you join as FULL CASE MEMBERS. We’re already members of about four or five other wineries so to have a commitment of another case every single month or quarter is a lot to get any type of discount, is quite a disappointment, especially when this is one of our faves. They don’t make any apologies about it either... Seriously disappointed. ????
It's an ok place with terrible focus on service. We were a group of 8 and we're promised 2 similar tables but when we reached there they wanted us to split into a small 2 seater table in a corner. When we said it's not ideal for the group the staff was pretty rude. Second, our server took no effort to talk about the wine and it was no different than us buying some glasses of wine at a restaurant.
Amazing wine. Wonderful atmosphere. Donn guided us through our wine tasting. They honor online offers in the winery so take advantage of it! Can't wait to come back!
Awesome winery...highly recommend!
This winery has gorgeous landscaping and tons of food. The wine tasting was less impressive and informative than other wineries but we still enjoyed it.
Very nice & clean winery. Was not able to tour the winery, but we did walk around & did the inside tasting. I would recommend the outside tasting if the weather permits.
It was a totally amazing experience. Ws had Gerardo who received us at the guest entrance, he was so helpful and provided us every detail about the place. The deli market had a huge variety of selection when it comes to local products and cheeses. They also had appetizers, sandwiches and dessert that you can pick up and take for your picnic. We also did the wine tasting, the price was reasonable for $45, you get to have 5 choices from their wine menu. Ed was the one in charge at our table, we did an indoor wine tasting. The ambiance was great and with the details provided by Ed and his humor... This all added spice to our experience. Highly recommended place to visit.... To unwind... relax and just chill out on cozy afternoon....
Deli, bbq and wine. Can't beat that! The wine is super good!
Such a beautiful winery and vineyard. The staff were very friendly and the wine tasting delicious.
It's a good place to get wine and food at a reasonable price in Napa, but don’t expect a warm welcome in this fast customer turnover winery. I found the wines good but not great.
This is my Favy tasting spot in all Napa. I Always bring my family and friends who visit the bay area!
Come on the weekend and enjoy a bbq lunch under the walnut trees with some of the great wines they make here. We came for a wedding rehearsal party and got a great tour from Brianna and enjoyed a really great lunch. Would absolutely recommend coming here.
Great food, it's on the expensive side and can take a while but worth it. Very crowded around noon on a Friday, took 25 mins to place a food order. Tasting was okay, wines were decent but not worth what they were asking at all.. it's a warning sign to me if the wine is only sold at the location and no where else.. you don't let society judge your wines worth, in my opinion... Tasting took 45+mins for 5 wines due to how crowded it was, really dampered the day since we spent so much time here vs other places.
Not a fan. Very commercial & gimmicy. The tasting was rushed and felt mass produced - no information about the wines provided. If you want to buy some cheese/meat and have a picnic, maybe stop by. That said, I will not be returning.
My favorite winery .. tasting was awesome as always
Berry nice place to visit and enjoy wines
Excellent winery, the Mt. Veeder and Preston Cabs are some of the best we've had (2012/2013). The grounds are beautiful, and the staff in the tasting rooms are knowledgeable and fun. Great way to spend the day in Napa!
A family favorite for many years now. We aren't really into wine, but the selection of cheese and other items in their deli always makes a wonderful picnic. The grounds are so beautiful!
Even though the price for wine tasting has increased, they are still our favorite winery to go to. The tasting guides are all knowledgable and fun to talk to.
V Sattui winery is a beautiful place to have some time with friends and family. There is a really good grocery inside the winery where you can buy V Sattui wines and cheeses. There is a really good place in the garden to do a picnic. We decided to go there because our hotel offered a couple of coupons to the marketplace tasting. At the winery, the tasting was conducted by Domenico, which was a really bad host. Domenico barely offered us the option to choose the wines we would like to taste and did not helped us with our questions. The experience at V Sattui winery was damaged by the tasting which, in my opinion, should be the highlight of the visit.
Shout out to all the folks a V Sattui for staying open during the Glass fire and providing free meals to the firefighters that are risking there lives for others. I will come visit you first when things are open. ❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful Spot to stop sit snack sip eat taste sample wine and cheese. The Napa Valley Train stops at the Edge of the property. Great views of the nearby winery's. A Speedway gas station across the Street to refresh the gas tank.
After visiting (and tasting) at a handful of locations in the Napa valley, can say that V Sattui is one of the best in terms of value and variety. Taste ANY 5 wines, from their wide array of whites, reds and dessert for just 15$. If you are into dessert wines, they have some of the best we have tasted. While their MADEIRA is truly wine of the gods, their Angelica and 2014 Muscat were stunning too. (The madeira has blends which are decades old and the angelica is aged for several years too. So they don't carry a year tag unless anniversary edition is picked). We left with a shipment for 6 wines. Thumbs up!
As former members, we showed up today expecting to show our family in town a good experience. I was FLOORED at how terrible our marketplace experience was with Justin. He was not welcoming at all, he didn’t tell us anything about the wines, I asked between the roses and he said “this one is just better.” You need friendly people who are ready to service guests (nicely) who are there to taste and this was by far just terrible. I’ll think twice about heading back.
This winery was great for tasting and having a picnic lunch outside with delicious food purchased in their market. I rated 4 stars, because the wines were not nearly as good as the other wineries we tried. We enjoyed their sweet wines, but the Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir didn't even come close to competing with neighbor wineries. Still, this winery was nice and a unique experience we would definitely recommend.
Nice place if you are into wine and cheese.
Superb selections and vintages. Not a single complaint ever and I have been a member of their wine of the month club for almost 20 years. Visited the winery countless times. Excellent in every way
Great ! No appointment needed to go to the store, but for tasting.
A lot of value with tasting menu. Some very good wines included here! It's a stunning place to relax in the garden with a bottle outside along with a large selection of cheeses and food options from their onsite market, something I wish more Napa wineries offered. I can see why this place has won a lot of awards! ????????????????
My boyfriend and I were visiting wine country a few weeks ago and stopped into V. Sattui during the thick of the Glass Fire. Regardless of multiple environmental emergencies (COVID, evacuation warnings, etc) we were treated with the highest customer service and felt safe within their modified environment. We happened to meet the owners, John and Tom, while shopping their deli and gift market, and I appreciated their attentiveness, hospitality and spot on recommendations. I had never ordered a case of wine from here before, and never tried their Petit Verdot. John promised me if I didn't like any bottle of wine, to let him know, and I'm so happy I trusted him and his recommendation. You really cannot go wrong with any bottle you select from this winery, and stopping at their winery while in Napa is definitely worth the time. Highly recommend, and I know I'll be back (hopefully sooner than later).
Busy place, great for wine tasting, and picnics. Just make sure you handle your wine ????.
Made a reservation for wine tasting on 6/20/20. No exclusive host for wine tasting with $30 per person fee.... had to wait, but overall Ok experience. After purchasing 3 cases of wine, we were informed that we could grab some food from the deli and have a picnic outside. The table opened up and we grabbed. Extremely rude outdoor hostess came by and said that we had to check in with her first and that other people were already waiting. We literally had 10 min for picnic due to another tasting appointment at a different place. Some other guests invited us to join their table. While the table we originally picked remained empty entire time. The hostess suggested we speak to a manager who never showed up. On the way out I confronted the hostess and mentioned that this is not the customer service I expected especially after the purchase we just made and she said “all people spend a lot of money here”. She finally called the manager who didn’t offer an apology or anything constructive, but rather contradicted me by saying the hostess is “really nice”. Net, net - they have A LOT to learn about customer service, not to mention completely ruined experience. Don’t think I am ever coming back.
Julie is super awesome. She was super helpful and very helpful in answering our questions, she even provided helpful tips on consuming the product. Not a wine connoisseur here but I really loved most of the wines that we sampled. I love the gamay rouge the most. Julie said we could mix it with vodka and turn it into a slushie for a perfect summer drink. We ended up buying one case of different types of wine and with a one year membership. Definitely worth coming back for. ????????????
A large busy winery with beautiful grounds and an amazing selection of cheese and deli sandwiches! If you're driving by - make sure to stop in for a snack. Best place to eat between tastings!
One of my favorite winerys to visit. You can buy cheese and meat or sandwiches and sit on the lawn. Beautiful place, grest wine, fabulous all around!!
I enjoyed every moment, and excellent wine.
Great wine and wonderful experience! The staff was so helpful with suggesting wines to fit our pallets. Definitely a must do if you’re looking to wine taste.
Been here three times and we always put this place on our list as our picnic venue. Beautiful grounds and food choices were good. Wished there were more food choices that were picnic worthy. Service could also be improved.
Very busy tasting area. After you start tasting you see why. I loved every wine. Angela was great. $20 tasting was so worth it. I think the wines started at $27 the family red blend was great. The 2013 cab came highly recommended.
Absolutely lovely place!! Wine is wonderful and the staff doing the pourings were fun, witty and very encouraging of trying new things! Yes, it was crowded but the place is busy because it is good. Chill, relax, have a glass or 3 of wine and enjoy life. Sit back and enjoy the time and the gorgeous views.
Fantastic wines and atmosphere. We went on a Saturday for the BBQ and tasting. Can't miss it you're looking for wineries to visit in Napa!
V. Sattui knows how to treat the public right. The wine is good and the alcohol keeps flowing. It seems as if every time I wander into this space everyone is having a great time and smiling. It's not a stuck-up Napa Valley winery. It's more of a laid-back we have BBQs some weekends, come in and know my name type of place. I came in last weekend and my cell phone was almost dead - they offered to plug it in and watch over it while we ate. We bought a bottle and they corked it for us, and gave us two glasses! We sat out on one of their picnic tables and enjoyed the sunshine and good east they had to offer. It's truly a one-stop-winery-shoppe. See for yourself. You'll have a new favorite winery.
We love your Angelica. It's why we visit. Beautiful scenery. I do have one complaint. The man in the tasting room was like a cars sales man. Very off putting. But lunch and wine were great!
Beautiful winery, big operation. Very nice market, bbq food truck and picnicing. Gets crowded but well organized.
Great place!!!!! Nice deli with so many options (vegan, gluten free and vegetarian included) and you can relax in the park with your food and wine. Lovely atmosphere and nice park
Fun and relaxed. Beautiful outdoor area with seating to enjoy some of the wine and food you might buy inside. The tastings are reasonably priced and offer a good selection.
I loved it. You don't need appointment; it was cheaper than most of the other places in Napa; good thing they sell food outside; the food was amazing (barbecue) but it was crowed to get food not the tasting.
When it comes to wineries in the area, almost none offer food besides cheese and charcuterie. However this place has a big delicatessen deli marketplace with delicious varieties of food and shady picnic tables outside to enjoy those in a nice atmosphere. You cannot taste the wine outside with your food, so I suggest that you do the tasting, buy a bottle and consume with your food outside
They have an amazing tomatoes and mozzarella salad. The spicy Italian sandwich is so good too. I feel like the spiciness came from black pepper more than anything, it's very mild. I loved it!!! You gota try this place. It's perfect for a quick stop in the morning so you can grab food to go.
This place is overcrowded and they hardly make any of their wine out of own grapes. Their customer service is so poor. We waited 50 minutes for our food and then had to rush through our tasting while our attendant didn't pay very much attention to us. Personally we would have purchased a $60 bottle of desert wine but the attendant didn't come back in time for us to purchase anything before our tour bus left. I would never come back again.
Very beautiful grounds and they are one of very few wineries who are letting people on the estate without prior reservations during COVID19. The food truck food is also pretty good. If going on weekends, go there early to avoid waiting in the line.
Wonderful Experience!! Every single person we came into contact, from the owner to the grounds keeper, was so friendly & welcoming. Thank you so much????????????
Everything about this place rocks. Friendly staff, wonderful food inside and out. Cheese and wine samples. It's usually packed so expect a little bit of a wait, it's worth it though.
Unfortunately, my tasting today at V. Sattui was the most unwelcome I’ve ever felt at any wine tasting in California. I had been to V. Sattui before (July 25th) and had a great experience with Michael for the Under the Oaks Tasting. Sadly Bart (our host today) was incredibly rude to my friends and I. We were rushed to finish our tasting in less than 30 minutes. Multiple times we had to chug our wine in order to get the next tasting. The most unfortunate experience was when he poured a new wine on top of my husband’s wine when he wasn’t done. At the end, Bart told us we needed to leave since we had 6 wines. We only had 5, and he made us explicitly list the 5 we had on the sheet to prove we weren’t lying. After we told someone in the store about this experience, she told us we should join the wine club if we want to have good service. In the future, I’ll go to a vineyard that treats everyone kindly regardless of wine club status.
Super friendly and welcoming, gorgeous grounds
Amazing food and wine! Highly recommend Bucci Rosato wine for paiting with desserts or after dinner ! Sweet and light l!
My husband and I were able to taste 5 different wines for $20 each. We bought a bottle of wine and had a picnic lunch outside the vineyard. The staff was so helpful since this was our first time. I was able to purchase a few bottles and have them put in styrofoam for transport on an airplane. I definitely recommend this place if you are new to wine tasting and looking for a laid back atmosphere.
Good place for food and cheese. I had the ravioli and it was pretty good. However, I felt like a number rather than a person for the wine tasting. Definitely hurried and not personal, unimpressed. Also, extremely busy for a Wednesday afternoon. I'd hate to see what it's like on the weekends.
They had signs up about the mask requirement & at the bottom of them were the exemptions. I didn't have a problem at all until I went inside the small, overly priced store. An employee, a man with glasses approached me & told me I had to wear a mask. I explained to him my exemption. He left & called the owner then came back to me and told me that the owner said that if I refused to wear one - even though I explained my RIGHTFUL by LAW exemption, he told me i had to go outside and wait for my "friend" there. If you care about our American liberties You are better off going up about one more block to a better environment :) Nicer people, better looking garden/patio area
My wife and I were married here in 2014. We had been searching for a good destination in wine country that we felt could handle our families and provide a beautiful location and ceremony. And boy did they deliver! Their wine has been the talk of my family since, and the Princess-esque tower was the picture staple for everyone! Their barrel room brought a perfect location for our reception! The staff for both the public and private wine tastings are great people to get to know and they really care that you enjoy your experience. Their picnic grounds and deli are great places to enjoy a nice warm day!
This should be your first stop if you've never been to Napa, or if it's been a while. The is a great selection of whites and reds, so everyone in your party will find something to like. You don't need a reservation, and they have the space to accommodate larger groups. Their staff is friendly, and willing to answer questions and guide you through a tasting, if you don't know much about what you want/like. They will ship almost anywhere, which is an added advantage. Another thing this winery has going for it, is picnic tables and a large deli/store that sells all kinds of cheeses, spreads, breads, crackers, and even sandwiches. The great thing is you can taste lots of things before you buy them. They also have a pretty extensive gift shop, so if you're interested in gifts, they likely have it.
I cannot recommend v sattui enough! We had the pleasure of visiting a couple of weeks ago for our 8th wedding anniversary trip and this was the highlight!!! we had a 10:00 a.m. appointment booked and were big Ed's 1st customers and had the absolute privilege of being able to pick his brain on all of our obscure questions, he was an absolute superstar! He kindly let me try the Angelica and the Madeira which I was hankering after and they were so fantastic we bought 2 bottles of each on the spot! Big ed you are an absolute asset to v sattui, you keep everybody entertained and happy, and your knowledge about the wines is hugely impressive! we cannot thank you enough for the excellent experience that we had!!! we will be back :)
Amazing winery! Not only are the grounds gorgeous, everyone we interacted with was most welcoming, accommodating, and genuinely enjoyed being there. The wine - DELICIOUS. Bought three bottles!
Great, relaxed environment to taste small samples of wine close to the vineyards. We had very knowledgeable personnel helping us and ordered a couple of bottles to bring back from our trip.
Tasting is a great way to know what they have and then chose a bottle of your favorite ????. Also great place to make a picnic with the large variety of food they have.
It was good, but nowhere on their website or in the reservation process does it say you cannot have food during a tasting. We planned this as our second winery, with our tasting at 1:00 after reading the wonderful reviews of the market and deli. I am a small person (I frequently get carded because of this) and really need to make sure I eat enough while consuming alcohol, and I panicked when I found out I couldn’t eat anything during my tasting. We planned this as our lunch spot so we hadn’t eaten since early that day. I ran to the market to eat SOMETHING as fast as I could in the five minutes before the tasting. I scoured the website and reservation email to see if we had made a mistake but I couldn’t find anything that said no food other than a sign at the tasting tent entrance. So plan accordingly!
All of their wines are amazing. They have a great picnic area that you can eat in and sell paninis, salads, and cheese to eat. You also can get a bottle of wine for lunch. Highly recommend a stop here for a tasting and lunch. They have nice bathrooms and a big parking area. Staff is very friendly and informative and they have beautiful grounds to relax in.
Came here for a wine tasting during what I think is the third surge of COVID-19? They were doing an excellent job of complying with all restrictions. Socially distanced tables and everyone wearing masks. Loved our wines! Make sure to call for a reservation if you want to do a tasting.
The real attraction here is grabbing a bottle of very affordable, high quality wine, stopping by the deli and eating lunch in the picnic area on a beautiful early fall afternoon. Quite an experience. Try the Madeira...it's crazy. Like drinking Pecan Pie.
Very nice winery with great wines and they BBQ on the weekends! BBQ is phenomenal, plus they also do have a deli with gourmet meats and cheese
If you buy 7 bottles be prepared to carry 3 as you only get a box for 4. Nice place to eat picnic style. Deli inside, but you can enjoy your own food too.
Beautiful place, great in marketing with wide variety of imported products and merchandise. The stuff is lazy and rude and the wine not worth the price
This was our third visit to the Napa/Sonoma area, but our first to V. Sattui. We had a very enjoyable visit and will definitely stop here on our next visit to Napa. We had a great experience with the terrace tasting and found some excellent wines. V. Sattui has an enormous selection of wine, almost overwhelming, but great wines. I particularly enjoyed the Entanglement, Syrah, and Zinfandel. This is a very popular winery for good reason. I highly recommend a visit to V. Sattui.
Absolutely terrific experience. We loved this winery and the wine. We sampled the premium wine with Marc - he is the best. He is a true professional remarkable host. We will be back again.
The Deli has limited food options, and it tastes okay. It's kind of expensive for the small portion sizes offered. Wine tasting needs reservations in advance. You can also get a place walking in depending on availability.
I’ve had two incredibly negative experiences this past month at this winery. The owner of this winery should be absolutely ashamed of his “nephew the manager”, Brian, and the other managers for their horrid customer service. Hopefully you stop hiring your family, and hire qualified professionals instead. I’ve been at the winery four times total. The first two times which were fine, so I recommended the winery to friends and brought them along. During this visit we had to wait over an hour for the terrace tasting which we reserved well in advance. After waiting close to two hours we were downgraded to a lower tasting without being offered to be compensated for anything. We spoke to the manager and explained our situation, and to our surprise, she was incredibly rude and combative. After expressing our dissatisfaction several times to multiple employees at the winery, we were finally offered two of our three tastings comped and 30$ off of our wine. We ended up buying 400$ worth of wine, and did not receive the 30$ off nor the tastings comped! I chalked it up to one bad experience, so I decided to come back with family, who are members and have bought hundreds of dollars of wine, the next time and this time it was worse. We were told false information about the food we could purchase at the market, even though all of our prior tastings (during COVID) allowed for food consumption. We figured that we would be compensated in the tastings respectfully. We were wrong. The manager, Brian, was incredibly combative, even trying to grab the sign and wave it in our faces, when his own staff had told us it was okay to purchase food with a tasting. He claimed “his uncle owned the winery” in a rude tone, and spoke over the women who were trying to raise valid concerns, listening only to the man at the table. It was surprising how rudely he spoke to members for a small matter that the winery had a minor misstep for, that could have easily been resolved. We get it, people and staff make mistakes but being degraded by a manager that takes no accountability? Unacceptable. Incredibly disappointing experience, wines are great, but Brian needs to treat their high paying customers better.
My favorite winery in Napa. They have the best sweet wines like their rose - gamay rouge and their moscatos and reislings are consistently good year after year. They also have a wonderful deli area with cheese, pate, salami, sandwiches, and salads. Grab a bottle and enjoy your lunch outside in their picnic area.
Excellent place to have a picnic. The food is OK and a bit pricey, but overall great experience.
The best winery collection for my taste! Great to go with family and friends!
It may look fairly pretty, but my partner and I had a pretty terrible experience here a few months back. The only redeeming factor was the kindness of those inside the retail area to help try and fix the experience by giving us a credit in the store for the amount of our two miserable tastings. The tasting was held outside and we’d gotten there around 10:30 for an early tasting because it was the start of our day. Even as the only two people at the cheesy and basic looking tent, our wine pourer was rushing us to the point that he tried to get us out by 11:30 for him to take his lunch break, which he told us. He also described the wines so broadly as to explain a red as “bold and great with steak.” Trader Joe’s has signs more informative than the entire tasting for far less than the premium paid. The outdoor staffer also kept talking about how Tuesday is his Friday and he’s excited to leave already- not very helpful to tell guests, pal. This experience gave the whole day’s plan of bouncing around Napa a rewrite and we went to Sonoma where the locations were prettier and wineries were kinder.
I’m not sure where all these good reviews are coming from, our experience here was terrible. The person servicing us was pretty rude and he was servicing 5 parties at once. The experience was not personal at all and he seemed to be more interested in serving the other parties than us. We came from another winery which only serves 96 customers a day, and in comparison to that, this place is like the “Walmart of wineries”. First of, he was so not attentive to our party that 30 minutes in to our tasting and we were still waiting for our third pour. There was almost no explanation of the wines we were tasting, more of a “pour and go” situation. Not to mention the pour was very stingy— barely made one-sixth of a standard wine glass. I mean, these are bottles that are in the 20-40 dollars range. The tasting is 35 per person. If you can’t provide good service, at least not be stingy about your pour. Second, the service is rough. No change of glasses— it was a one glass all the way situation. We purchased an “add-on” to the tasting, which included an additional two Cabs and two truffles. The truffles were more expensive than the ones you get at a Godiva store, but definitely not up to that quality. Not to mention— he didn’t even know we had these “upgrades” and the receptionist, when handing us our tasting voucher, didn’t make any notes on it that we had these upgrades. We had to pull up our email receipt, which, did not mention about this upgrades, but the total amount we paid— about 28 dollars more per person, allowed him to “verify” that we did purchase the upgrade. The only redeeming part of this visit was perhaps the deli— I’ll give you a star for having a good sandwich to purchase. Readers, you have been warned. If you still intend on coming, just know you’re coming to the Walmart and expect Walmart service and Walmart quality. There is nothing magical about the tasting experience and really everything was below average. You can get better wine and better service at other wineries in town. Also, just purchase the basic package, forget about the “upgrades”— as they treat everyone the same and would forget about your upgrades anyway.
Great food at decent prices. The pate was to die for!
The staff is friendly and seemingly thrilled to have guests try their delicious wine. I will definitely be back. I enjoyed the beautiful grounds and winery cats too ????
Closed?!?! Phone hours list open until 6 however closed at 5 because of winter hours? Incredibly rude employee said they were closed, flipped her hair and spun off. "Manager" said there was a previous complaint about their hours, but they haven't changed the recording, and suggested I lodge a formal complaint. Usually V. Sattui is a great experience however this time was sub par and as wine club members I'm reconsidering if this club is right for us.
Lovely winery with beautiful yard and cozy atmosphere where food and ingredients also available
worst winery experience. Very understaffed, noisy and the wines themselves are the grocery level
Very beautiful property and amazing wines. You need a reservation for wine tasting ($45) and no food is allowed during the tasting. This was a great touch. They have a separate deli and space to eat. Kids are allowed at the tasting and they give them real grape juice (sparkling gamay). The tasting is a real hit or miss based on the staff. I would strongly recommend sitting with TREY. He knew what he was talking about and was able to make recommendations based on our palettes. The first wine pourer, Jack, ignored us and did not serve any wine for over 20 min while making small talk with younger groups. We felt unwelcome and almost left. Trey was able to take over turn our experience around with his positive energy and attentiveness. I would return again, as long as TREY is serving.
DO NOT see Justin for the wine tasting. He was so rude, had a horrible attitude, and hardly gave us any time during our tasting. We came here for the experience and to have a good time and he completely ruined the place. The deli was great and everything else but Justin absolutely sucked. If you try the wine tasting do NOT go to this jerk. Dont know how he has a job here.
Great for families. Lots of lawn area to eat and drink. They had a great food setup (burgers, ribs, chicken, etc). It took a while but was super tasty. Get there early to get a table.
Where this place truly shines is the food. They have some excellent sandwiches, pasta and other appetizer like food (crab cakes, bacon wrapped dates) to order as well as an excellent cheese and cured meats selection. You can have a fantastic lunch while right in the middle of the St. Helena wineries area. The wines were good, but not amazing. My favorite was the merlot. They had a large selection to choose from for tasting (5 pours). What really stood out during the tasting was the amazing woman pouring the wines, Emily! I think this place is worth a visit, especially if you’re hungry!
Picnic grounds are looking junky....too much watering and why water benches(!?) Ladies bathrooms need maintenance. Great wine and nice people representing the brand. We have been regulars since 1989....we love coming....just hate to see the inattention. We'll be back!!
A must try and buy! Friendly knowledgeable staff too.
Beautiful picnic area! On the weekends they bbq tri-tip, chicken, ribs, prawns, corn, lots of salads, and brick oven pizza, right from an outdoor brick own. The picnic area is filled with benches and tables, but bring your own blanket or extra chairs if you have a small group. There is a great deli inside selling everything your taste buds can wish for. The benefit of being a member pays off when you go to the private tasting room in the cellar. Mark helped us and he suggested a brilliant plan of attack. Drinking our first, then second, and third... I think seven or so wines! He was funny and made our time enjoyable. He served us a special bottle of Port from the year my nephew was born, which was worth the membership alone. Well worth the money! It's on the other side of the valley from where I live, so it's a longer drive, but I enjoyed driving by all of the other wineries to get to V. Sattui Winery. Beautiful area and just perfect weather Labor Day 2015
My favorite winery in Napa. Become a cellar club member and get free exclusive tasting in members area if you buy at least 6 bottles I think. I always buy at least a case of these great wines. Service is excellent. The winery is beginning to suffer a bit from its own success with the crowds but it is still a must in St Helena.
Great service in the tasting room, and crowd pleasing wines. We went on a Thursday in the off season and there was a huge line. We skipped right to the front with our reservation, highly recommend making one. Gorgeous place to wander around and grab lunch.
One of the most delicious and best stock delis in the wine country peaceful atmosphere great customer service delicious wine
Two people in our party called ahead to confirm that space was available, but the manager turned us away at the entrance. Additionally, we were told that half of our group could leave and the other half could enter... not exactly experts in hospitality, lol
Tremendous experience, great wine tasting, outstanding wine knowledge and paring from Mark in the private tasting room. Easy local access of Highway 29.
One of the few wineries that allow you to have a picnic on their property. V. Sattui is privately owned and is one of my favorite wineries to go to when I visit Napa Valley. Looking forward to another visit with friends very soon!
Beautiful winery. Great service. This is a must if youre in the Napa area
My husband and I participated in the 5 course food and wine pairing and loved every moment. Virginia, our hostess, was beyond spectacular - so knowledgeable and passionate about V. Sattui wines but also was an excellent resource for recommendations of other wineries around the Valley as well. The Petite Sirah and Medeira will blow your mind!
Great place to buy cheese, local bread and a bottle of whatever you like. They have many delicious options, including some non-alcoholic ones. Picnic area and grounds are beautiful!
Solid. One of the few wineries in Napa that can take large groups. The estate is vast and really beautiful...take a couple walks with wine in hand! There’s a large field/lawn with picnic tables where you can hang out after buying a bottle (or two), cheese, bread, snacks, etc from the market. The tastings are really nice as well. We came here as part of a tour of around 30. The service was great and we were able to have lunch (provided as part of the package deal) with barrels. Fun times.
If I can give this place zero stars I would. I booked for the day after thanksgiving for an indoor wine tasting for my mother, wife and I. It was $45 per person which isn’t bad. We walked in to the marketplace and had trouble finding an open chair even though we booked for a set time. The indoor wine tasting is just a uncomfortable backless bar stool. Our server was very inattentive/rude despite him only having 2 other parties in his section. The worst part of it there were fruit flies all over us during our tasting which we were fighting off the entire time. The server just said it was that time of year. Later he realizes a spit bucket next to us was causing them to come near us. The flies ended up in my moms drink causing us to request another cup and pour for her. The server wasn’t at all caring. For over $140 plus for the tasting and we bought a wine so over $180 in total we had a wine tasting from hell! The venue outside was nice but this indoor experience makes me want to tell others.
They take your money outside for tasting , you go inside and it’s backed full of people, with standing around to get a place at the bar. Asked for a refund, response, all sales final. Unfriendly and not accommodating. Don’t waste your time . Wine is cheap anyway.
V Sattui had some fantastic wines to try and we even got to try some that weren’t on the list! Thanks to that, Carlo sold us on some other wines to purchase at the winery! The atmosphere was fantastic, the wines were delicious (full bodied Cabs were phenomenal for those of you who enjoy them), and Carlo was a well educated host! For even someone like my wife, who doesn’t enjoy wines as much, it was a great place and she could enjoy all the white and rosé wines. We will definitely come here again and would want to visit their sister winery next!
Make the trip every year to pick up a bottle of Madeira and Angelica. Picturesque. Perfect place for a impromptu picnic (chosen from a sizable charcuterie selection) and a bottle of something fine from this beautiful winery.
This was our favorite winery. We went back the next day. They have wine tastings & food were terrific. The service was great. They had shaded picnic type areas to go outside and eat and drink.
Excellent place to visit in Napa and have a picnic over a bottle of wine. There is a outdoor pizza and barbeque tables weather permitting, a very well maintained lawn with benches and tree cover. Deli carries good selection of bread cheese and Italian food.
Great wine tasting experience with knowledgeable staff. They have an extensive collection of cheese and also a very nice Deli. On a good day you can enjoy their garden seating with some drinks and food.
WOW!!! Amazing wine! Loved everything we tried. Great market with a lot of neat things. If you visit any winery in Napa area, make it this one. Julie was so fun and friendly, thank you so much for the great experience and time spent with us. It was worth the 1,800 mile drive.
Loved it! Went there this past Memorial weekend as they were celebrating 130 years. They had a fresh outside bbq going on with ribs, shrimp, other delights and side dishes. I had the ribs and corn. Delicious. The line was long but worth the wait. Did both wine tastings that they offer. It was crowded but fun and festive. The hosts were delightful. Visited the cellar. Great photo op. Would recommend just dropping in and tasting some very delicious wine and great food. Fun! Fun! Fun!
Today was my first time going wine tasting. I loved every minute of it. I HIGHLY suggest this place! Beautiful, clean, good food, excellent wine and awesome, knowledgeable staff
We visited the winery several years ago and really enjoyed the experience . We purchased several bottles of wine. Yesterday was Father's Day and we selected one of the bottles to go with a t-bone steak dinner. It was a 2005 Sattui Family Red. It was perfect in every way! Time to go back and restock.
By far some of the most amazing wine in the Napa Valley. Paired with amazing views, private tastings, great deli with everything you could need. Inside the deli they also have an amazing cheese selection , can't go wrong with this winery
Really horrible service. The bad experience started with the reception lady showing us attitude when we are a few mins late. Then the wine server was really indifferent when I told him my chair is unstable. The restroom is really dirty and limited 2 stall only so there is always a long line. I honestly don't know why people would go to this winery. The wine isn't that good neither. I'd rather go somewhere when people are relatively friendly. After all, there are so many options next door.
Rather than do a tasting at each vineyard, we tried to mix it up by doing deli take-out lunch here (esp since we had just been at their sister, the Castle, for a tasting). For some pasta, a sandwich, a water and soda + picnic supplies (don't buy it - they give out free forks if you ask at the register) it was over $40! You can't bring in your own food, so be prepared for a short list of options. Rustic place that's pretty to walk around, it's a decent option for mid-day lunch.
We have a been a member of this winery for the past 5 years, but this year the quality of service and management is abysmal. Not sure what happened but we are done with this winery. We went for a wine tasting and not only was the staff very rude and short tempered, they also were unable to find our membership even though we've had it for so many years! They refused to give us our membership benefits and gave no apologies whatsoever. At the end of the tasting (which went from $20 in 2019 to $45 per person in 2021) we still decided to get a case of wine since we drove all the way there. After ordering, we waited outside for 20min, until the person realized they forgot about us, went to get our credit card back and then told us our wine had been waiting inside, and again no apologies.
Friendly team, very welcoming. Bart assisted us with our tasting. He stated he was newer to the team, but he was very helpful. I loved my experience.
Was very crowded when we visited so the wine tasting wasn't that great. Selection of whites were amazing though. The restaurant was good (definitely recommend the ribs and tiramisu).
V. Sattui is a beautiful place set in the Napa Valley. All the members are very helpful with great attitudes and a warm welcome. Wine tasting is an excellent experience for new wine tasters with full explanations of the selected wines for tasting as well as very open to seasoned wine tasters alike. Very nicely done V. Sattui please continue the excellent commentment to fine wine making.
First winery visited during my girlfriend's and my birthday getaway in Napa, 4 years ago. Still our favorite today, alongside Castello Di Amorosa (Calistoga). Wonderful wines and deli items. Sunday picnics are quite pleasant during the sunny season.
Great winery to visit when in Napa Valley. At first, we didn't see the sign of Sattui, but then we found it. The place has a lot of kind of wines and good food to taste the wines
Didn't disappoint. Emily, our host was excellent
Marketplace was great! Grounds spectacular! Nice wine and food market.
My first dine on-site experience since Civid-19 pandemic decended on us. It was great! Menu was, if course somewhat limited but atmosphere was great! We dined outside at the picnic tables ( as I usually do) had a bottle of pinot noir. The weather was perfect. It was so good to be out again. It was my birthday and I was happy. We wore face covering inside and were seated out on grass. There was more than adequate distancing on a Monday afternoon. I'M not ready for tasting tour, not yet????⚘
Loved wines we tasted. Was too rushed since was so busy and parking was around other end of property. Our reservation was made for day before in error, 2nd time, but we were accommodated in our club area. Saturdays loud. We would not normally go on a Sat. but was with Active Duty friends/guests with this day off.
V. Sattui has exceptional wines, that vary based on preferences. You can walk around the vineyard and go to the market without a reservation, however to wine taste you must make a reservation - if we were to do it again, we would have gone to the market bought wine and food and eaten at the outside tables, although trying all the different wines was fun, food is permitted in the tasting area. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable! The atmosphere was very beautiful and bright - loved the overall ambiance. I recommend ordering your wine there if you are going to want to take it home as it has proved to be tough to find anywhere else. Enjoy :)
Great place for having picnic and tasting food and wine
Our experience here was rather pleasant right up until our last tasting of the day... Abruptly our host Bart changed his demeanour and attitude toward our party of 4. As you know in wine tasting you can request to dump out and try a new wine.... Apparently Bart did not approve of this and began to be very rude and shortcoming toward us. Bart said and I quote "I don'thave any more options to give you" after only tasting 5 wines off a very expensive menu. Furthermore Bart did not like the fact that we only purchased 5 bottles and not a case as he wanted us to. We also requested water twice and never got any. Very sad he ruined our tasting. As a side note, the lunch was delicious and fresh, we ordered baby back ribs, cheese steak, and pizza.
Gotta stop at this place. Located on the way to all other wineries. Beautiful grounds, great selection of wine, cheese and other foods. They're offering private and group tasting, and marketplace for individual enjoyment. It's similar setup to "Eataly" if you are familiar. We really enjoyed this wintery.
Wine and cheese...enough said. If you don't have the time to ready anything else, remember that! I came here with a group of friends. We bought a couple bottles of wine, cheese, and crackers. We set up on one of the picnic tables and had a party. The wine we had was good as was the cheese. If I return to Napa, I will definitely be coming back here.
The sommolier we had at the tasting bar was wonderful and the wines are pretty fairly priced. I had a wonderful time with my boyfriend's family and the experience allowed for us all to know each other a little better. The winery itself is beautiful and would be a very romantic trip for two to Napa Valley in the future.
Had a great experience and tasting at their terrace followed by a a simple and cosy picknick in their yard. The deli was a bit crowded but still offered everything you need when it comes to wine and cheese.
Beautiful grounds, great wine (especially the dessert wines). The standout was the deli & marketplace, delicious food & cheese samples. Very crowded & popular.
From this Texan to all of you out there....my first trip to California's Napa Valley was highlighted with this wonderful Winery. Make a stop and enjoy the flavors and hospitality!
We did a tasting and a picnic lunch. The tasting was OK, it felt rushed and there were more flies inside than I would have liked, one of whom decided that it would take a swim in my cab sav. I was expecting more out of the Deli, to be honest. The breads were not very good at all. Cheeses were great. Charcuterie and to-go case was OK. I think I went in with too high expectations.
Great winery with wide selection, really good deli food, super nice and helpful staff and beautiful grounds.
POOR FORM! I've always loved V. Sattui winery and their wines and, in fact, have been a wine club member. My wife and I did a tasting in May and purchased several cases of wine to be shipped home. Unfortunately the wine wasn't shipped as we live in Arizona and was to be held until the temperatures dropped so the wines could be safely transported. Just received a call letting me know that they no longer had one of the cases I ordered (and paid for) and was offered to substitute it (at my cost) for another selection. All of the cases were paid for and should have been set aside to be shipped when safe. I was offered a little apology but no concession for their mistake. I really feel this is poor form on their part and have decided to cancel my entire order as there are lots of other great wines in the Napa area.
I'm not a win drinker so this is coming from a tag along husband and everything was lovely. The food was delicious and the grounds were relaxing.
Wonderful wine experience. The tour is reservation only but you are welcome to stroll around at your own like we did. Tasting included 5 wines from an ample menu. Loved them all. Even the kids got to sample some grape juice. Picnic tables are available for guests and a market with plenty appetizers, sandwiches, cheese selections, lots to go with your preferred wine.
Great rose, madiera and tawney port. Has a large selection of deli foods, salads and cheeses.
Bart is the best bartender !! Everything was great . Had no problems or difficulties, we were in traffic yesterday and weren't going make our time, they gladly rescheduled for the next day since they were fully booked for that day. The drive was worth it ????
Very lovely! Beautiful grounds and tasting areas. Our tasting server was knowledgeable and professional. My only regret is that my idiot friend drank all my wine
I had a great time visiting this winery. The tasting provided by Ed was a fantastic experience. I would gladly return
My wife's favorite winery. I don't drink whatsoever...so I bought their sparkling grape juice! Lol
Consistently enchanting atmosphere and top-rate sommeliers (after four visits, never disappointed!). Ample selection of wines, both whites and reds. Looking forward to our next visit!
Sign up for a membership and enjoy a complementary tasting. Or plan to picnic beneath the giant oak trees in the public space. You don't have to bring anything. The marketplace and deli will set you up. Whether beginner or aficionado, make this family owned & operated St. Helena estate winery a priority.
Best dessert wines, good food, picnic spots. Very nice place to stop in Napa.
Wonderful winery. It can be super crowded on the weekends and throw you off, but the staff's attitude and quality of wine would beat that. The property is beautiful and well maintained. Would repeat it, just for that Madeira :)
This place is great. You're in the Napa valley, youve been drinking wine all day. Not ready to hit Oakville grocery for full on lunch so you stop here for a bottle of wine, cheese and snacks. Eat outside on the picnic tables in the grass. Great spot. Part wine store part cheese monger, part outdoor picnic area.
The grounds were beautiful, this is a great place to get some pictures! Suzanne provided great recommendations for which wines to taste. We really loved their entanglement and port wine!
Amazing wine collection and servers know well about their wine collection. I am taking a start off because you cannot have food and wine tasting at the same place.
I highly recommend a visit to this winery. Great wines many Award winners great staff. Beautiful grounds to picnic. Wonderful cheeses olive oils bread. You won't find these wines anywhere else you have to get them here at the winery and you'll be glad you did.
Really good place for wine tasting
An unpretentious winery and gourmet deli with some amazing cheese selections (coconut Gouda was a bit of an experience and tasted like a tropical fruit had a gentle case of athlete’s foot). The picnic areas are lovely with full benches and tables under trees and spaced well apart. Best of all were the wine bottle recycling boxes where you could slip your empty bottles after guzzling wine.
This place is wonderful! Carlo is a wonder sommelier. We had the best experience! I highly recommend it!
This place is amazing. Great selection of wines, and very attentive staff. The winery also has its own shop with an amazing selection of French cheese and charcuterie. Please enjoy this place with the family members, love ones and friends - you won’t forget.
This place is a well oiled machine. I was surprised by the amount of people and felt like we were guided around like sheep. The deli has delicious food and sandwiches as well. We did the premier outdoor tasting which was hosted in a tent. Our host was Oscar who was lovely, super informed about wines and suggested some great wines to try! The wines were delicious and the vibe was really fun. If you are looking for a more intimate or serious experience, another smaller winery might fit better. It would be amazing in the summer as there’s lots of outdoor tables to sit at, buy some deli food and a bottle of wine to enjoy in the sun. It did have a bit of a big production feel to it, and i think i prefer smaller wineries, but if that’s your thing it’s great!
KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS!!!! or better yet, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE I am SO disappointed in V. Sattui. Everyone had great things to say about this place, so I brought my mom for her first ever wine tasting here. However, what was going to be a nice day out in Napa turned into a nightmare. We bought two bottles of wine from them (~$70), but when we went home, they had charged us $350+ on my credit card. I tried to reach them through phone and email. They were dismissive or straight up ignored my attempts to contact them. Finally, they sent me a receipt that had the wrong items listed on it. We did not buy an entire case of wine like they said. As I have lost our own receipt at this point, it was our word against theirs. Again, terrible customer service, I would not be surprised if they charged us the wrong amount on purpose and then ignored our attempts to correct it.
Excellent US wine farm experience. We opted to use their market place and enjoy the tastings as well as a picnic on their grounds. Busy but still well organised. As with all things, go early to avoid the worst of the crowds. Easy drive from San Francisco
If you're looking to have a nice lunch outside I would recommend stopping in, but be warned, it is extremely busy. We grabbed a delicious salad, house made cheese, some crackers and had a lunch outside on a wine barrel. It was a great atmosphere. Went back in for wine tasting but the bar was overrun with people so we left (we went early afternoon, so time your visit carefully if you don't want to be overrun by people).
We ended up here only because my coworker (who was not on the trip) had specifically wanted to buy a couple of bottles of the Gamay Rouge. Turns out that on clear days, they fire up the grill and sell lunches! We had a steak sandwich and wood fire pizza at the picnic tables. This is one of the few places where you can taste wine and eat a meal on the grounds. I would recommend just for this reason. We moved in to try some wines. Since we were already set on buying the Gamay Rouge, but didn't know what it tasted like, one of the workers allowed us to taste some wines free of charge to see whether we would like to buy the Gamay Rouge for ourselves also. Overall a pleasant experience.
My friends and I did a wine tasting here. The venue is beautiful and the wines were nice! Overall, the tasting was fine until we got a new server (our original server’s shift ended) - he started to beg us for a tip towards the last bottle of the tasting and even went to great lengths by sharing his Venmo handle - this felt extremely uncomfortable! The second half of the tasting felt like he was marketing himself for a tip. He would pour us wines that we didn’t ask for only to say at the end he served us “a lot” of wines and so that’s why he deserves a tip. I always tip but when someone begs for a tip or tries too hard for one, that’s it for me.
A family run business that dates back to the late 1800's. The wines here are wonderful, but you can only get them at the winery as they do not sell them anywhere except at V. Sattui. This is the most visited winery, so come early or during the week on off hours. There's no outside food allowed, so their onsite deli will have everything you'd want for a picnic on their grounds.
Great marketplace for wine, cheese, olive oil, etc. It can be really crowded on weekends. I had to wait for a long time before getting to the wine tasting. Choose 6 wine for $10 (plenty of choices) from one list, or $15 to choose any 6 wine from two lists. I bought Angelica, Zinfandel, Dry Rieslings and Muscat this time. I usually end my winery day trip here where I could picnic and enjoy the sunset.
Went in early Jan 2020 Beautiful place, set up, etc. My wine tasting was underwhelming. The person helping us made me feel like I was a number. The cheese samples on the other hand was AMAZING. The gentleman made us feel special, took us on a food journey, and shared his passion with us.
We hit this place on a very busy day when they were doing an outdoor cook out with pizza and smoked meats and such. Although the lines were long and food seemed pricey it was a very nice change from a standard restaurant and as an east coaster it's nice to be outside in November! Great people watching too!
nice winery, what makes this one special is that is has a small deli inside, you can purchase local produced foods and enjoy them with a glass of wine in their spacious backyard. large yard , so kids can play . worth a stop over for lunch or a picnic.
Wonderful wines but horrid staff. They made me feel very unwelcome. What happened to service with a smile? An absolute turnoff. I bought a couple of bottles of wine. But I will not be returning.
Love this place. Great outdoor seating with plenty of shade. Dog friendly. Plenty of different choices of food for any picky eaters. Try to get there early to get a table but don't worry if you don't get one. Bring a picnic blanket for backup and there's plenty of grassy areas to sit at with shade as well while you wait for a table. Great wine of course, it is Napa. Bring sunscreen????
I love this place. Wine tasting and food all in one place! This place has benches along with shade for the perfect picnic. They also have a BBQ menu on the daily. This place is very popular on the weekend So bring picnic blankets to sit down on.
Always my favorite, with the best wine, atmosphere, and sommeliers. Love it here!
Great place to taste variety of wines with wonderful sceanary. I thought here is the best winery in Napa valley. Highly recommended.
Not your average winery! Crazy selection of fine cheeses from around the world, and a great deli too! Definitely worth a visit.
Horrible place. This is not a winery, it's a wine bar. They even serve wine in plastic cups! The BBQ was awful and the wait for the food is more than an hour. Avoid if you are looking for a true winery experience. The huge parking lot is the first sign that this is not great. Trust your instincts and don't go!
First time here, and was a great experience! Big Ed was our pourer and his customer service was top notch! Would definitely come back and request him! Wine and ambiance is great
A exclusive winery that you can visit in napa valley california, there is an entrance of 20 dollars but it can be consumable inside the gift shop. Wines displayed in that winery is limited and can only be bought within the premises, so if you're looking for good quality wine thia might be the place you're looking for.
Jack (number 21) was an absolute professional when it comes to his job. He was knowledgeable about everything we asked him and was an absolute joy to talk to. We will be back with the sole intention of talking with Jack again while he educated me and my wife about the vineyards. 10/10
V. Sattui is the only winery that I've visited twice. I love it for the flexibility -- you pay $15 for 5 tastings and you can choose from the menu which ones you want to taste! It's cheap and there are some great wines on the list. They also have a marketplace with samples of cheeses, spreads, and dips. You can buy some snacks and go outside to eat with your wine.
First stop on a weekend of tasting in Napa and surrounding.... HUGE tasting room and a lot going on here. Enjoyed the tastings enough to take some of their Old Vine Zinfandel home with me. The BBQ made it a lock for my next trip up. Reasonably priced for truly upscale food out on the lawn. Always a good idea to start a long hard wine crawl with good food in your stomach!
This and their sister winery Castillo de Amorosa had my favorite wines!!! Very smooth, fruity, and not dry like I prefer them. Very gorgeous grounds to take pictures and enjoy a meal. Came back a second time on my trip. Definitely recommend. I could bring my kid was another plus.
We stopped in for a quick lunch in between tastings. There is a nice little deli set-up. I had a pre-made green salad and a cold seafood salad from the deli. Both very flavorful. My husband had a panini, which he enjoyed. Our only complaint was the lack of cold non-alcoholic beverage selection, or even ½ bottle wine selection to have with lunch. I get that the point is you are in wine country, however, we needed a break in between tastings. Overall, it was a nice quick lunch, with lots of shaded picnic tables to sit at.
Great wine and nice location, I can’t give anything more than two star . I took the ‘Tower Wine Tasting’ and the wine expert Hosting the event named Marc was NOT at all friendly. He was irresponsible and never bothered to give a great experience to the customers. He treated us as if he is giving us free wine. His treat to the customer was based on the color and from where they are. This was my worst wine tasting event..!!
This is a beautiful place and backyard for picnics but the lady in wine tasting room wasn't friendly. We knew that lots of customers right there but she wasn't even smiling to us.
Great venue but poor employee interactions and not accommodating to customers. Great selection of meats and cheese but one is not allowed to have them during wine tasting. We asked if we can buy and eat cheese and meat sampler for our wine tasting experience since they do not offer crackers/bread/water for palate cleansing between wine samples. We were told that shouldn't be a problem but after paying were told we can't. It's so close to being a 5 star experience...
They're doing their best to operate in these crazy times. They have implemented Covid 19 safety practices while maintaining a friendly disposition. It's basically the same great V. Sattui its always been except now with outdoor tasting and a food truck.
THIS WINERY IS A MUST WHEN VISITING NAPA! This was by far the best wine tasting experience. We booked the GROVE TASTING and wow, every single wine was incredibly delicious, especially the Madeira! You can taste the quality. Lovely outside area, right next to the vineyard. They also have a market with fresh sandwiches, cheeses and a selection of wines. The sandwiches were great and we were able to eat them outside on the Picnic tables.
This is a must visit winery for any visit to Napa. Just for the deli alone you would be happy with the trip. Everything is fresh here. The sandwiches, olives, cheese and bread are delicious and you have the picnic area to enjoy. Plus you get 6 tastings for $15 which is the best deal you will find. The winery is nice but nothing wonderful but the rest makes up for it
SO PRETTY! The wine and food were delicious and the whole place was just beautiful to hang out at.
This is one of my favorite wineries in Napa Valley - it is particularly good for the uninitiated :) and my go-to spot to take family and friends for their first time in Napa Valley. I still remember my first time here when we picnic'd while soaking up the sun and basking in their beautiful picnic area. I loved learning about all of their different wines and they tend to be a little more generous than the number of tastings that is stated on the tasting menu. It's a bit more popular than other wineries and not a place if you're looking for quiet and intimate.
This was my first time to V. Sattui! We had an opportunity to check out their barrel room, crush pad, and bottling line. The description of each room was very brief but that was okay since we knew there were six lovely wines waiting for us at the end of the tour. V. Sattui does not distribute outside and so the only place you can try their wines is at this location! Their rouge wine was the most beautiful color red and the perfect amount of sweetness. We tried a variety of other whites, reds, and a port. The woman pouring our wines was very knowledgeable and gave us some great tips when shopping for wine at the grocery store. V. Sattui even has a BBQ truck on site that seemed quite popular although we had brought our own picnic and didn't get to try it. Overall, great place to relax and "wine" down!
Beautiful grounds, great market and decent wine, but I can't give more than three stars to a place employing the gentleman as a tasting "expert" that we experienced. Very unprofessional, every wine was "awesome" , tried to force me to join a wine club no less than 8 times in an hour and then actually sat down at my table and hit on my girlfriend while I was in the restroom. Bizarre! The contrast of professionalism having just left Caymus and then Silver Oak right after was immeasurable.
To be perfectly honest, I've never been a fan of the wine here. It really baffles me when I meet others who love their wines. The only ones I've tried here that I would not pour are the Napa Valley Cabernet and perhaps the Napa Valley Syrah. My non-wine drinking friends tend to love this place because the wines tend to be on the sweet and fruity side. They also love their Angelica and Madeira dessert wines. However, this review will be on my experience as a visitor and as someone who coordinated a company event here. EVENT: Coordinator: First off, Caitlin is wonderfully organized and will make your event a piece of cake to plan for. She takes care of all the hard parts for you, even the contract is easy to fill out! Tour: Lisa is hands down the best guide I've encountered in Napa. She is incredibly peppy, friendly, very knowledgeable, and will captivate your entire audience. Basically, if you crossed the personalities of Kristen Bell and Jennifer Lawrence, you would end up with someone like Lisa. Food: The catered food here was fantastic! I knew it would be good but everyone in my company was singing praises over how it great it was and kept going back for more plates. I ordered the smoked ribs, baked salmon, caprese salad (I LOVE heirloom tomatoes), pesto pasta (I am a sucker for basil pesto), a simple artisan cheese plate, and creme brulee (super thick and creamy!). For those who do not like caramelized sugar, the coat on top is so thick that you can just flip it off and eat just the cream; everybody wins! Venue: We held our event inside their barrel room which was set up with several round tables. It's a really cool place to hang out in but it does get cold so bring something warm! VISIT: Tasting Room: No appointment needed and their tasting fee is only $10-15. Their bottles also won't put a dent in your wallet either. This place is always packed and busy but their staff are well trained and will urge you to not be shy and squeeze in. Deli: This place is a treasure trove of yummy goods. How could I not love a place that carries over 200 cheese??? Grounds: It is quite pretty at V. Sattui with pergolas (arbors), fountains, and gorgeous trees. There are picnic tables for you to eat or hangout at but they do filll up fast on the weekends and sunny days. Even if I'm not joining their wine club anytime soon, I do enjoy coming back time after time for the deli and because I still think it's a great stop for those who are still new to wines. I do highly recommend V. Sattui for events and they are one of the only 6 places in Napa who can hold weddings.
Because we were riding we didn't do any wine tasting but the cheeses, crackers, dips and other snacks we sampled were fantastic. Ended up filling up a top case of goods. Yum! Perfect for a picnic as they had great shade, tables and a fountain.
I like that there's a picnic area and we will usually pack a whole feast to come here. The wines are good and will suit most beginners taste. There's also a delicious deli inside with prepared items that are pretty additions or to make your own picnic. They serve BBQ items on the weekend and I'm not a big fan of the food. If you want, go across the street and get some sandwiches from dean and deluca instead (along with some of their awesome baked goods) and have enjoy the outdoors.
3.5 stars.don't care much for the wine here but nice place to eat and enjoy patio.deli inside and bbq outside to satisfy your hunger. Wife enjoys the white wines here. People really enjoy the ambience and appearance of this place though.Usually crowded on weekends.
It was amazing! My friends and I have a such great time at V. Sattui Winery! We have some glass of wine with some delicious snacks. At the same time we could enjoy the beautiful landscape of the garden around the winery. It's worth spending time there.
Great place for wine tasting and a picnic. 5 tastings for $15 is a great price. It does get very crowded. I like that they have picnic tables and grass so you can bring your own food or buy the cheeses and bread. On weekends they also have barbeques.
Loved this place. Great place for a picnic lunch. Not to worry they have all the things needed to purchase for the picnic including the wine which was superb. You diffidently need to put this place on your must see list.
Probably the worst and saddest excuse for grilled chicken. Served cold and tasteless over your gradeschool cafeteria level salad. Barely edible even when you're starving. No other food and beverages allowed. Only 2 stars because the ribs were okay, but for portion it wasn't worth the price. Definitely nicer places to picnic than here.
Love it even more that they're enforcing not bringing in own food and beverages. This isn't a park! Not as crowded makes it a very enjoyable experience. Wine is delicious.
We had our tasting down in the barrel room, which was the coolest atmosphere! Marc was our server and he was very knowledgeable about the wines and as we shared our taste preferences with him he was able to recommend other wines for my wife to try, namely, the muscat, Angelic and Madeira, all were great matches for her tastes and we went home with a couple bottles! Great experience! Highly recommend!
I like the picnic area. Good place to drop in--publuc tasting area and friendly service. The zinc was our favorite. The wine cellar is OK, but can't complain when there's no entry fee.
We've been going to V. Sattui Winery for 33 years. We love their deli. After wine tasting we can have a picnic lunch on the grounds. The experience never gets old. Their exclusive selection of wines are wonderful. You've got to try V. Sattui Winery!
wow, wow..loved this place. we weren't able to get a reservation they were already fully committed but we bought a bottle and headed over to the deli, grabbed a turkey & bacon panini, a smoked gouda and beer spread which was so good and then waited in line for a bench for a nice picnic. There was also a barbecue which was pretty good but be patient as the line was long. Definitely will visit Napa again just to go here as well as Peju
My husband and I have been wine of the month club members for many years. We have visited the winery only about three times over the years since we live in Arizona. But each time they made us feel special and took excellent care of us in the basement tasting room. Zinfandel is my favorite and you can't beat a Howell Mountain Zin!! The 2007 was to die for!!!
Really cool to see the very popular winery. Cheap tastings give you a lot of variety, but with service can be slightly overwhelmed at times with the volume of people they're dealing with. Overall very enjoyable to see one of the staples, but if you want a more relaxed environment you may be better trying somewhere else. To be fair we did not try the private tours, however.
Came for a tasting session with the family, no place to sit at all, nor place to stand together as a group of 5. We had to split and stand separately. No refund policy, so even though we couldn't sit together (or sit at all) we were stuck here. There wasn't any view, and it basically felt like "do it as fast as possible" rather than a place to relax and enjoy the wine. This was the worst winery experience we had, by far. To add insult to injury, we couldn't snack at the bar as well - so we had to drink on empty stomach. Wife got super frustrated and entire experience was ruined.
Excellent place if you're looking for a wine tasting in the Napa Valley region. Ours took one hour, you get to choose 5 wines to try and the person in charge was very nice explaining all the details and characteristics of them. You can get to sit outside and right after the tasting you're able to get food or other wine-world elements.
Superb Napa winery, with an outdoor picnic area. Tastings for $20 for 5 wines. The Morisoli Cabarnet is my favorite but they have delicious wines for all palettes.
As a wine-of-the month club member I was very excited at the opportunity to visit V. Sattui for the first time. I work full-time in a Level 1 trauma center, caring for Covid patients throughout the pandemic and this was my first real getaway and a much needed break. At the winery we were misled to purchase food at their deli and afterwards we were then told it was against the law to eat. The topper, though, was their manager Brian, claiming he is the owner’s nephew and refusing to give us a contact for his manager. For someone who seemed so passionate about their COVID regulations, he wore his mask far below his nose, spewing droplets as he argued and yelled at us. The whole experience was unfortunate, uncomfortable and unsafe. I will be canceling my membership. UPDATE: I did cancel my membership and explained why. I was told that someone would be contacting me to follow-up, but they never did. Soon after I received my last wine-of-the-month club shipment.
I visited this winery during the COVID-19 lockdown period. No wine tasting is done as expected but the retail shop was open. This is relatively small winery compared to some other big names such as Mondavi but what caught my eyes was the old medieval fashioned castle-like building. It was really fascinating to walk around the building still despite the closure inside and winery tours. Retail shop assistants were genuinely friendly and kind. Good recommendations on types of wines you would like to try. They sell cheeses ???? as well. I would love to come back here when it is fully open again.
I was recommended this place from a friend who is a regular up in Napa and I’m so glad we ended up here. It was super dog friendly and the staff loved on our pup the whole time we were wine tasting. Fabulous location and staff, we will definitely be coming here again!
V. Sattui winery was the highlight of our Napa valley tour. Our Sommelier was the great-great granddaughter of the original founder and she was great. We loved the atmosphere and the added deli section, two hundred cheeses! The wine was amazing and their wine club options were the best of all the wineries we visited.
Shop inside with small wine tasting chamber
A nice winery, but expensive even for tastings.
Gorgeous tasting rooms and great wine. We stopped here on the Napa wine train and had an amazing visit.
Excellent place to go visit to have a good time and eat of all sorts of occasions. With a date and weddings and congratulations parties and anniversary times.
We had the most obnoxious and arrogant sales manager serve us wine Saturday 4/29 5 pm. Mark? Name tag said sales manager. Skip this winery! Get a bottle somewhere else. Visit their deli great selection of cheeses.
Great wine. Friendly staff. Perfect for family.
If you're looking for a picnic with wine, cheese, and meats then you found the perfect spot. I've been visiting V. Sattui for many years. I've never found a better place to enjoy a picnic with family. The wine tastes great and you'll have a chance to taste many of them here at the wine tasting bar. The cheese and meat area is a PITA when this place is busy, so expect a crowd. They have everything else you'll need for the picnic, so don't worry about anything. If you're lucky you'll see the train go by while you're eating at a picnic table.
always loved this winery and the grounds when we lived in the Bay Area. can't wait to visit today! it's the first time in almost 13 years and the first we're returning to! edited after visit: while we still enjoyed the winery visit and our picnic lunch, i was a bit put off that the $15/each we paid for a tasting wasn't credited towards the items we purchased in the market (over $100) or the 6 bottles of wine we purchased (over $200) or credited to our first month wine club delivery!! i gave it 5 stars prior to the visit but changed to 3 after.
Arrived too late for the wine tasting, but stayed to purchase lunch and have a picnic. Their marketplace had many gourmet food choices at reasonable prices. Nothing like having lunch Al fresco with such beautiful scenery! Would like to return another time and sample their wine.
The wine and food are great, but the customer service is bad. I purchased three bottles of wine and they charged me extra for individual packaging. It turned out that had I bought them individually, I would have gotten the packaging for free. Stingy people.
The deli shop is great for the tasty food and reasonable price. A good place for lunch/picnic. I have been to Napa several times and always have trouble finding cost-effective Asian food here. Of course I know there are a dozen of fine restaurants nearby but it is not likely to spot good Asian food. Here I order a median size Thai noodle salad, a Jambalaya and prawns. All of them are very delicious and the cost is just $45. Fantastic!
Very disappointed with the VIP experience on the terrace. It was our first time visiting this vineyard. We spent 4 days sampling different vineyards and this was at the top of our list prior to arriving. However it was the very bottom at the end of the trip. Plus is the location and beautiful grounds. The buildings and grounds are impressive but the service does not match. Felt like we were checking into a charity golf scramble when we arrived. Name was checked off a list and we were told to walk back to the terrace by following the signs.... well after 10 mins and multiple detors we finally found it. Hostess (5 standing around) should have escorted us back. Signs were absent. It definitely felt like a game of hide and seek. We had 6 in our party and reserved 3 flights for tasting. We were charged for 6 yet only received 3. We inquired about the overcharge and told they would not adjust the fee. Very disappointing. It was the only vineyard out of the 8 we visited where we did not purchase wine. The wine was not impressive. At most vineyards we purchase 6 or more bottles and joined the wine clubs. V. Sattui is akin to Disneyland of vineyards... impressive facilities yet crowded with cattle herding mentality, poor service and underachieving wine. Recommed you pull out a great bottle of your favorite wine and visit the vineyard on your iPad. The experience will be much better.
10 out of 10 ???????????? The wine was amazing, friendly staff and wonderful atmosphere. I will definitely come back!
We picked a random vineyard to visit based on a simple Google search and boy are we happy we came here. Not only a beautiful location, and amazing wines, but to top it all off our wine consultant justin was awesome. He had great recommendations, was fun to chat with and overall made our experience well worth it. Must visit this beautiful vineyard!
Good wine, a bit crowded. Wife and I are members and the staff can be hit or miss. If you dislike crowds, avoid Saturdays.
This place is beautiful, they have free tasting for militaries. Better if you visit on a weekday. Wines are good, although I feel the wines from Monterey-Carmel are a lot better.
Fantastic grounds, beautiful scenery. Excellent wines, super casual atmosphere, great winetenders! Best cheese selection in the valley, superb deli and BBQ, plenty of desserts and other snacks and foodstuffs to choose from. One could stay here for hours! Be sure to TIP your winetender!
I bought a “made a fresh daily” salad. The cheese inside has mold on it. It is so disgusting. I told the manager that I want to return it. He said the salad was out of rotation and they didn’t take returns for food. Seriously! I didn’t ask the manager’s name. Management needs look into it.
Beautiful location but too touristy. Inside is like a grocery store. They want to to buy anything and everything including wine. The wine is okey. Definitely better options else where
Love this Winery and the experience we had tasting really good wines.
I live in the area and stumbled on this place 16 years ago when I was still exploring and before it became a destination in its own right and had to start charging for 'tasting'. First time there in 1998 I had family over from the UK and we just thought it looked interesting. Apparently people talk about the desert wines and Cabernet but I can't drink red without getting migraine and sickly sweet wine is not something I have ever wanted to experience twice. We go back year after year for the Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. I haven't tried the dry Muscat and will deal with that this weekend. Over the years they added more options to the overall experience and there is more shelved wine, but the quality has stayed just as high as ever. I have a friend who drives down from Portland in his thirsty SUV just so that he can shop at Sattui without worrying about the weight. When they added the deli, it made the place in to much more of a one stop shop. I think they sold some cheese and bread the first time I was there, but nothing like the huge deli they have now. The sandwiches are lovely but I am 6'3" and can't eat a whole one. We have never stuck around for the BBQ, but everyone seems to love it. In some ways I regret their success. The wine tasting crowd spoiled these places for people like us who want to come and buy wine but would like to know what it tastes like. The staff seem to be on commission too, so even if you do what we do (delli then load up from the shelves with the wine you already know you want) they try to write up their "help" ticket to get a cut from what they didn't help you with. When my mother was here around 2000 she actually got to chat with the owners about the wines and the business, they don't have time for that now. They also sort of spoiled the whole exploring thing for us. We tried Beringer because we thought we shouldn't go to the same place over and over. What a mistake. Tourist trap with bad wines. Perhaps a place for the wine tasting locusts to get some free alcohol, but not a place to buy wine to take home. We occasionally try another winery, but haven't found "the next sattui" yet, just a lot of mild disappointment. Many places want to hit you with the wine tasting charge before they'll show you what they have. Our 'trick' is to get there early, or go in the depths of winter. I have been there at 9am on a rainy December 24th morning to see them sandbagging the doors to keep the floods at bay. The best way to get the 1998 Sattui experience again.
Scenic winery with tours and a shop. Unfortunately our wine “tasting” was not as advertised so I would not recommend.
Nice wines, nice grounds. Very limited access to drinking water was a big let down.
Sad! You now have to pay $20.00 per person to get into the Deli. Forcing you to either Wine Taste or get a bottle of wine. We have been coming here for 20 years. Loved to picnic here. We always purchased their Deli foods. But now you can not just go to the Deli. ????
Always a good place for a bottle of wine and a nosh in the picnic area. Been going there for almost 40 years and it's as much fun now as it was back then.
This was the worst experience my wife and I have had in all our years of visiting Napa area. The process of check in and seating were awefull. Our host was to say the least incredibly incompetent regarding the history of the winery and service was poor. The wines were below average and to top it off we couldn’t even finish our tasting due to the gnat infestation. People covering their glasses and swiping away the pesky gnat problem. The last straw was a gnat flying in my wife’s mouth. No apologies only a bill for the awful experience. Please don’t waste your time at this subpar winery!
Love coming here whenever I am in California❤
This was my first visit and I will go back. The staff was exceptionally accommodating from the cleaning lady to the the young man who is a 6th generation Satui family member involved in the winery. The wines are superb. Gamay rouge. Angelica. 20 yr old Port and the Madeira were all exceptional. Especially the Port. There is a great deli and cheese counter and lots of outside tables where you can enjoy the food and wine you purchased. Just a super great experience.
Perfect day! So calming and relaxing. Filled with amazing wines, foods and the most friendly staff. Being surrounded by beautiful vineyards, sunshine and the scenery. Who could ask for more!
Extremely understaffed. Waiter rushing between tables and put pressure on you to make quick decision. Terrible experience!
This was one of our favorite stops! The wines are of the less expensive variety, as well as the tasting. You get to taste 6 wines for quite a bargain. They even let my husband and I share a tasting. Gabe, our tasting guide, was wonderful! Full of personality and information. I think he was the best part of our visit. Thanks Gabe!
Great wines and wonderful approach to tastings. You get to choose which to try of their 20+ wines. It's smart too... I walked away buying a wonderful red I might never have seen on a conventional tasting menu.
V Sattui is an Amazing winery with a huge list of wines (over 70n in fact) and there's Literally something for everyone. I love it here, the staff treats you like family and I'll never not recommend this place!
I don't normally write reviews; however, my HORRENDOUS experience at V. Sattui warrants a review: I recently visited the winery and purchased a relatively expensive bottle, which happened to be damaged when purchased. Upon arriving at home, the bottle seal was cracked. I emailed and phoned the winery numerous times, but they were giving me the run around. Overall, terrible customer service - employees were beyond unhelpful and rude, especially Tara Eaton. Will never step foot at this winery ever again.
This is lovely winery for family. Grape juice is the best option for kids. I strongly recommend V.Sattui family tourists.
I first came to Sattui in 2008 for my honeymoon. My husband and I fell in love. We joined the wine club but I wasn't able to physically return until 2016 and 2017. Both times, were pleasant experiences, although I noticed they had grown A LOT since then and were a lot busier. Which is good, right? Anyway, I always recommended their wines, and my father made it a point to stop at Sattui during a cross country road trip with my brother from Cali to Virginia in 2014. My father ended up loving their wines as well and proudly ordered cases from them up until 2019. In January of 2019, he special ordered a case with the intention of gifting a bottle to my brother and his new fiancee. There was as mix up with shipping and the bottle didn't make it in time (even tho he had ordered it with plenty of time allotted). My brother was already on a plane back to Florida (we live in Virginia), so he didn't get the gift from our dad. When my dad complained about the mix up, I noticed his complaint was pretty much dismissed. I was a part of this whole process so this review is FIRST HAND, btw. Granted, Stacey didn't realize the back story, and yes...these things happen, but my father has been a loyal customer for years now. My father passed away unexpectedly in March of 2019, therefore he won't be there to see my brother get married. I decided to call Sattui to ask them for wine recommendations for a wedding gift, and I guess I felt sharing some of the back story would be nice, since there is some sentimental value behind it (and I do honestly LOVE their wines). Angie sounded like she couldn't be bothered. She gave me her recommendation as to which wines would age the best (thanks, good info), but she really seemed like she just wanted to get off the phone. This, unfortunately, has turned me off completely. Sattui makes great wine, but I guess the word is out so now it's all about the sale, especially after perusing some more recent reviews. Any intention I had of continuing to order from them is gone. Any desire to visit them, is now gone. It's disappointing, and I know my patronage will not be missed by them (they definitely make enough), but I am grateful to know there are other wineries out there who truly do value their customers, and it is those wineries that will continue to get my business. I just wish my dad was here so I could recommend these other places to him, too.
Terrible customer service. I called before making a reservation and asked how long before my reservation I could get a full refund. The lady assisting me told me anytime before 24 hours from the time of my reservation. So, I went ahead and booked. 27 hours before my reservation I called and tried to get a full refund for two people in our party that couldn't make it and they said they have a 48 hour cancelation policy. They didn't let me get a full refund and the lady assisting me said she could do NOTHING to help. She didn't apologize for the mistake of her team for giving me mis-information and didn't even acknowledge the mistake in the first place. I feel very cheated by their mistake and would double check with multiple team members if you're considering making plans to visit this winery to avoid this mess.
Awesome winery with a full deli inside. You can buy food and wine then have a picnic outside. Be sure to grab a coupon from the information center in downtown Napa.
Preston is the best wine server. We had an incredible time with his stories, his time, and his amazing service. Thank you Preston!
Great wines, great views, friendly staff, good food, fair prices. The grounds are very pretty as well and deserving of a look around if you have time. If not, just stop by the deli to do a tasting, and find a bottle or two. Then grab some food, and have a picnic on the lawn.
--Covid Review-- I'm really disappointed in how V. Sattui is enforcing safety during the covid crisis. During our tasting under the oak tree, almost all of the staff were not wearing their masks properly - all under their noses. I know it was hot, but staff didn't even put them on properly while pouring our wine. So I had to drink wine that had been breathed on. Maybe I should have asked him to put his mask on properly, but it felt rude. I really shouldn't have to - we were the guests and it is a requirement. On top of that, staff didn't stay behind the safety glass. Our person kept going around it to talk to us with his mask not on properly - MUCH closer than six feet distance. It was really uncomfortable and I kept having to back away and put my mask back on (which doesn't really help me since it's your employee not wearing it properly). In order to leave the tasting experience or use the bathroom, you are also required to walk immediately behind unmasked wine drinkers. Maybe 6 inches of space. This also violates social distancing guidelines. In hindsight I actually very deeply regret not leaving V. Sattui. We should have left after we saw the "safety" practices in action. Time for us to get tested.
A wide variety of wines available, just about anybody should be able to find a wine they enjoy here. The deli is delicious. The grounds and facilities are also great. The staff have never disappointed. Can be a great place for a new or novice wine drinker to figure out what they may like.
What a beautiful picnic place in Napa valley! My kid and me loved to play at grass field and enjoyed the varied food.
Love this place. It has a good vibe! Many people come out here for wine tasting and picnic. They also have bbq and it becomes very popular and packed. Definitely worth stopping and checking out. I like their whites here.
Good but a little too commercialized/Disneyland vibe. Most of the wine is pretty good although sweeter than average Good experience overall ????
Lovely what a family winery is supposed to be
DO NOT COME HERE!!! It’s really crowded and unorganized, the lines to the bathroom are insane, and the customer service is awful! First time at V. Sattui. I had originally heard good things about it. When we got there, the grounds were nice but very crowded. I waited about an hour to use the ladies room. I must say, the customer service is very bad here. We did the market place tasting and ask the cashiers for directions. They told us to walk up to whatever “bartender” was open. We lined up against the wall, in order to not block an entrance to a stockroom where employees were coming in and out. As we were a group of 6, we were trying to discuss our best options as to what bartender to go to. A man named John walked up to us and told us to move out of the way, (mind you, there was a huge stroller in the pathway so it wasn’t us necessarily blocking the pathway.) We tried to explain to him that we were squeezed into a corner already and there was no where else to stand but we were waiting for the next bartender, Berto. He got annoyed by our explanation and walked over to Berto and whispered something in his ear. It was extremely patronizing and demeaning. I definitely felt profiled and discriminated against, one being discriminated for being a woman and the other for being a person of color. After asking around, I found out that John was actually VICE PRESIDENT of the winery! as a business owner, he was extremely unprofessional and rude and he should find a better way to organize his tasting room. Also, he should have better customer service skill because we were paying customers and expect better service especially because it was our first experience with V. Sattui. don’t ever come here. 0 stars if I could
Lovely little winery with great food and kid friendly as well. Definitely worth a visit or two.
This used to be one of my favorite wineries. The cheese selection and the deli are still outstanding but the tasting was run by one young man who was not helpful, knowledgeable or concerned with service. We waited forever to taste 5 wines. A woman next to me was exasperated waiting to order a case of Merlot. She finally said, “Are you gonna help me?” And she had been there long before we even paid for our tasting. Ruined the visit for us and we left w/o purchasing anything when our plan was to split a case with our friends and get loads of cheese! So sad one employee can ruin an entire winery’s reputation.
First time at the winery. Host was very attentive and helpful. Not a huge fan of red wines, so we got a dessert wine for our last tasting instead. Very nice location and nice selection of wines
Great option for food with your wine as they have an amazing deli and sizeable picnic grounds. Unfortunately this does attract an abundance of tourists so it’s a bit manic inside. Worked well for us as a lunch stop
We visited several wineries while in the Napa Valley area and would highly recommend V. Sattui. The tasting area was fun and informal. After selecting the perfect wine, they were very helpful with pairing a delicious cheese and bread that we enjoyed in their delightful picnic area. This is definitely a 6 out of 5 stars winery!
We had a wonderful time celebrating my friend's birthday here! We made a reservation from 2:30pm on Saturday and got the tasting and some additional bottles. The store has literally everything you need to make a charcuterie board right there!
Great Winery, nice gardens to share a bottle of wine ???? I loved the experience of the tasting at the bar, great customer service
One of our faves in the Valley! Organically farmed (thank you!!) and easy to find something for everyone! Our faves...Gamay Rouge, Bacci Rosato, Moscato (frizzante-style) and Off-Dry Riesling!
This place is a wonderful family friendly place. The selection of wine is fantastic and the atmosphere is quite homely. If you’re hungry I wouldn’t recommend the BBQ because it lacked flavor and seasoning. On the other hand the deli is amazing. Wow the assortment of cheeses, cured meats and olives are so tasty and they pair superbly with the wines. The charcuterie is the way to go here. The down side is that they don’t have enough bathrooms for women so the lines are real long. Make sure on your next Napa adventure you make a stop at this place as it is a nice outdoor place to spend a good chunk of the day.
Nice place and good wines. Terrace tasting with nice view on the vineyard for $45 for 5 wines per person and Cheese and charcuterie $15. Our favorites ones Sauvignon blanc, Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon , Vittorio’s Vineyard, Estate 2014
Beautiful vistas and a vineyard with historic ties! Definitely a must visit with it's wonderful wines and knowledgeable staff! Arrive early before the crowds to experience a more one on one atmosphere. We had a ton of fun and gained some knowledge, thanks Jack!
Loved loved this winery! The beautiful grounds and amazing architecture welcomes you in. Reminded me of Italy. Our wine tasting was amazing with great wine and can't rave enough about our experienced and funny waiter. Visiting the cellars was pretty cool too. Even though we didn't get to try it, heard their deli is pretty good too.
The shop was open for browsing and buying. Currently no tasting. But you don't need to taste. Its all good wine. Just pick one!
We were there on a Saturday and while the place was packed with visitors, we enjoyed our "picnic" even during the winter time. Food was delicious and they have this "melts-in-your-mouth" kind of lasagna!
After more than 20 years of bringing all my out of town guests to this vineyard for wine tasting and picnics on their grounds, I was so disappointed and disgusted at what this place has become. We came on a weekday and there was hardly anyone around. We were a mere group of 4 and spent more than $100 for the following: 1 small deli style bowl of tomato and mozarella- I counted exactly 5 pieces of grape tomatoes and 5 pieces of mozarella, 1 small order of shrimp salad...yup 5 pieces of shrimp, 1 small pasta which was not even 1/3 of the box full with 1 small piece of meatball, 2 panini sandwiches which were totally not fresh and the size of my petite hands (more like a kids sandwich) plus the cheapest bottle of Rose. My out of the country guests were too shy to complain about it but we vowed never to return nor recommend this place to anyone anymore. No one was friendly at all. There were cashier stations at the entrance ready to charge for your wine tasting but did not bother to greet people. Same thing inside the facility- no one was friendly at all. We sat in the grounds for less than 45 minutes and since we were still so hungry, we decided to go get burgers at Gotts less than an our after our "picnic lunch". Spare yourselves and have a better meal elsewhere. There is no character or ambiance left here. even the bathrooms were disgusting. I am taking my visitors elsewhere and cancelling my Wine Cellar Club membership. This place is even more of a nightmare on the weekends! Avoid!
Great place and wine tour. Learned so much about the wine making process and food pairings from host Virginia.
Do not order or ship any wine. Took over two weeks to ship, ran out of a wine we had ordered, did not bother to call and advise, I only found out because I kept checking on my order. Got my order AND it was WRONG !!! still waiting on correct wine. Stick to Sonoma !!
Great Wine Steward, very busy and overcrowded but great service and quick visit. Wine is excellent
Good wine tasting room, enjoyed it. The atmosphere is Delicate and elegant
Best staff around! The venue is elegant and quaint. We appreciated that it felt low-key and personal. The grounds staff were very friendly. The real winner was Bart, our "winetender" and Emily, our host. You won't find more genuine or personable people in a wine tasting. They were eager to rectify a misunderstanding we had with our reservation. I loved how knowledgeable Bart was with his recommendations, especially when it's hard to find staff who know/care about their craft. Reviews mentioned a $20 price tag, so I was surprised to pay $48 for a tasting flight. It was worth it for a Napa experience. Oh, and excellent cheese selection that shouldn't be missed!
Amazing ambience. But wine was not that great. Go for the atmosphere and cheeses, bring better wine with you .
My boyfriend and I visited and did the Marketplace tasting. $20 per person and you get 5 samples of wine. Would highly recommend trying the Madeira if you go. They also have a wine cellar open to the public, which you can go check out on your own. One of the cheaper tastings that we visited but loved all the wine. Would definitely visit again.
An incredibly lovely place! So happy to have experienced it. The perfect place for a wedding and reception. The wine cellar is awesome!
Recommended by the hotels concierge we visit this beautiful winery. We bought the upgraded package of 27dollars per person. We had 7 wines instead of 5. And the upgraded wines were very nice. Very impressed also by the ancient vine zinfandel. Tasted gorgeous. After the wine tasting, we bought a bottle and some deli to enjoy them in the garden. We had a totally relaxed, lazy afternoon. This little picnic added so much to the wine tasting trip. It is advisable to go early so that you can find a less crowded time at the tasting bar, mind you we were there on Monday and the crowd soon builds up. And most importantly, that you can find a picnic bench for lunch and to chill out. Loved our experience at v.sattui.
Staff were extremely helpful during our tasting, especially with us being pretty uneducated in wines. Delicious selections, and we ended up walking away with 2 cases. Well worth the trip.
Great wine tasting and selection at V. Sattui. Lots of people were here when we went on a Sunday afternoon. Definitely make sure you have a reservation for a tasting. This place seemed very family friendly; we noticed a surprising amount of children here. Lots of parking available and is easy to navigate. Good variety of wines available here. V. Sattui will definitely have something everyone/anyone will like. Would recommend to families on vacation, couples that are just starting wine tastings and wine lovers alike.
I would highly recommend V. Sattui Winery! The view and ambience was amazing and the wine was very delicious! But, what sets this winery apart from others is how friendly and accommodating all of the staff were! We felt so taken care of and appreciated! The service was exceptional! :)
Great grounds with nice deli. Great place for a picnic lunch under shaded trees. Didn’t try the wine. Next time.
awesome place to buy great food and have a picnic!
We had a really good wine tour and wine tasting visit to this place. In fact our tour guide was one of the family members and explained the process of wine making the and the difference between various wines really well
The terrible thing about this place is how awesome it is! This should be on everyone's list to spend a lunch here. The on premise deli has such good food and the wine is world class. Get there early though because it can be hard to get a table. Or you can bring a blanket and have a picnic. Love this place!
Did the wine tasting ($49) and it was great. Sommelier Michael provided lots of tips and information. Inside deli and bar has plenty of options (cheeses, pastas, deli) you can purchase and enjoy on property with your wine. Only spoil was a snooty, rude bartender (male) inside at deli bar who we ignored as not to ruin our good time and experience
This Pandemic messed alot of Bussineses up. But my 1st time to the winery's in Cali was a great experience. I will return.
Over crowded winery that sells wine, cheese, oils, etc. They have a picnic area out front that is pleasant enough. We were there on a Friday afternoon in the fall and it was overcrowded. The experience is not that relaxing though the selection of items is nice if you need some snacks.
Great destination - picnic tables, grass, sunshine, deli, ready made sandwiches, cheeses, wines... How can you go wrong? They even host barbecues! Only negative is lack of restrooms for how crowded this place gets on a sunny day.
Nice and relaxing winery, there's green space you can do a little picnic especially when the sun's out! The wine shop is cute. Worth a visit!
I hate to pile on, but V. Sattui deserves the accolades. I've been here a few times and each time is exactly the same - really great wine, huge and tasty cheese selection, good meats, and a spectacularly nice picnic area. Lots of families around this particular Saturday; this is definitely a place you can take the kids while enjoying some adult grape juice. Having to decide where to take a foreigner for a first visit to Napa when you're on a limited time budget wasn't very difficult when I remembered what a nice time I'd had here before.
Had a outdoor family picnic at V Sattui this afternoon with some food from their deli and a bottle of wine! It was fun and wonderful! A great place to have friends and family come here to meet and chat! The price of the wine is reasonable but the return home traffic are terrible ! Next time we will try to get out before 2:00 PM or after 7:00PM!
Justin is the best!!! I keep coming here because of him, he knows how to cater to your taste and make this a fun and knowledgeable experience:)
We visit the Bay Area annually from Pittsburgh and always stop at VSW for a lunch or early picnic dinner on the lawn. If we are lucky, they will be grilling shrimp and tritips that weekend. The wines are excellent, the food fresh and the atmosphere cordial and family friendly. No NAPA snobs here. Sometimes they are crowded, but there is a special tasting room for Cellar Club members. If you want to overpay for a tasting or a bottle of wine, this is NOT where you go in St. Helena.
My go-to all around fav place in Napa. Only place with picnic grounds. Good wines, cool food choices, great shaded outdoors area. Added plus... Across the street from Dean and Deluca!
Great wine! My boyfriend and I stop here Everytime we're in town. Victor gave us the best greeting and Big Ed was the most exciting and entertaining wine sommelier.
Went for my wife's birthday we had a great time! Not too formal or stuffy. Delicious wines. Tried many enjoyed them all
If you want a casual, fun, fantastic wine tasting experience that you will share with others then come here. Privacy is not an option as it is a big open, heavily attended venue but it is ideal for a nice place to go relax and take in the best of the valley.
The Wine is out of this world! The deli and picnic selections are too!
Had a lovely time with my sister, my love Lorena at V Sattui. It's a great winery great food excellent wine choices. We always have a good time.
Love this place! Great for a gourmet snack or sand which and tastings are nice too. You can even eat out under the trees, and take a brief nap between wineries ❤️
Great experience! Very laid back, but lively atmosphere. We were served by Big Ed who was the friendliest tasting guide we could have hoped for! No pressure for the upsell and you felt free to hang around the premise at your leisure. Loved the inclusive, homey feel of the winery... You felt like you didn't have to buy a case of wine to get good service.
We visited late in the afternoon on a Thurs. The vineyard was quite busy, but we got real great guy at the tasting bar who recommended a few great wines for our tastes - blend Bacci and off-dry riesling. We bought a couple bottles, some cheese and spent some time in the nicely shaded yard. Overall, great wines, food/snack options, nice grounds. Do recommend to visit.
Love this place! Purchased several different wines. All have tasted great... get recommendations from staff and you can't go wrong.
Great wines but our sommelier rushed us and the experience was not as warm as we expected it to be.
Great location with some good wines. Staff can be more engaged
Great stop for lunch. Full deli and sandwich shop. Wine tasting and sales by the bottle. If it rains there are spots to wait it out in the cellar.
Nice venue. Very pleasant and accommodating staff. Some very nice wines. I highly recommend doing a tasting there.
Great spot to relax outdoors with good friends, good wine, and good food!
Go to winery. Excellent wine complimented by fine cheese, and Italian deli. Very familial setting. Never leave without Gamay Rouge.
This winery is my favorite place!!! I love the many options of cheeses and sauces and deserts. We ate outside and people watched. The area is beautiful! We Tasted wines with the help of a wonderful assistant/worker/wine educator named jordan i believe... and had a great time. He showed us combining wines and how much even better some tasted that way. Get the madeira!! Its the best dessert wine ive tasted! I will definitely be back for more.
Had an amazing time at the Tower Tasting with Marc. Their 2009 and 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon were one of the best that I’ve tried. Special mention for the desert wine ‘Madeira’ for its different story and taste. The place gives many spots for taking some really nice pictures. Their Deli store also had a lot of food and cheese options to pair with their wines.
Their vintage and reserve wines are exquisite, rich in flavour and well balanced. They offer wine tasting and picnic areas which are superb! All staff are nice and super friendly :-)
Best tasting ever! Our guide was excellent- she was adorable and enthusiastic about the wines. They were all complex and interesting- so much that we bought three bottles. Had picnic lunch there as well which was excellent and had a very picturesque seating area. Definitely a must visit!
Very beautiful winery. It was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. We visited unfortunately on a cloudy and rainy day but I could tell that this place would be great outside on a sunny day. There's plenty of benches and seating outside if you were to grab a lunch. Wine tasting was $15 per person and you could try 5 wines. We ended up buying a couple bottles along with some deli meat and cheeses. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
I would give them 5 stars as I love the winery, atmosphere, etc., I love, love, love their red wines, but... I am a wine club member and I can never hey ahold of the wine club department. I leave messages on the voice mail, I send e:emails and I don't get response. Very disappointed in their customer service.
My wife and I just returned from Napa and V. Sattui was probably our favorite stop. We only went on a whim due to the advise of a fellow traveler at our B&B, and thank God because we would have missed a gem. Sattui is the only winery in Napa that has picnic grounds, and though you are not suppose to bring your own food, the food they sell is fantastic! Try the various cheezes and the chicken pesto sandwich, wow! Also, they sell one of the most unique wines I've ever tasted. The bottle is funkie, topped with melted wax, the label says "California" but its called something else (can't remember at the moment). Its a mixture of red wine and brandy. Truly amazing. I order two and had them shipped to my home. Still waiting on them.
This is the only winery I always visit when I'm in the area. The deli is wonderful and the cheese counter is amazing. You can sample many things and then buy your selections for a nice picnic on their beautiful grounds.
Awesome. Not the boutique of a small winery, but had a great time and enjoyed our time with more than the standard (reisling, blend, port). Enjoy!
GREAT full service winery. The wine was terrific, they have a market, picnic tables, lawn area, and gifts. What a great find in the Napa Valley
Very pretty locations with an exceptional selection of wines. Service was good. I'd definitely return.
Napa veteran here. This place over charges for average wine. Plus, their service is horrible at best. If you book, make sure they don't have a wedding at the same time. If they do, you become a 2nd class citizen to them.
Very disappointing tasting. After visiting several other wineries where the hosts took time to explain the wines and winemaking, this one was such a letdown. This is a rushed experience with almost no explanations of the wines. The tasting takes place in a store environment with lots of people and the people pouring the wines just want to get you in and out quickly. This is a tourist trap winery right on Hwy 29. The wines that we tried were not very good, lacking depth and complexity. There are much better wineries and experiences in Napa Valley.
Great experience. Can't wait to see it again. Wine was fantastic.
Lovely place with amazing wines
Always, a first-class experience! Tom Davies and staff are exceptional! The deli, the cheese selection and food truck and woodfired pizzas, make this a must see!!!
We love this place! We're so glad that they're open and worth the weather nicer eating lunch under their old oak trees made for a great afternoon. Right now (3/21) you can reserve outdoor wine tasting but the market with deli and wine purchases is fully open.
We have been coming to V.Suttui for years but after today we’ll be taking our business elsewhere where our business will be more appreciated. Agreed that didn’t have an appointment for wine tasting because it’s usually only recommended on weekends so since being a week day we decided to just chance it and sure enough the wine tasting bar was not busy (only 2 couples at the bar) around 2pm .We stood in line for about 10 mins along with another couple behind us but we were totally ignored by the bartender. He was well aware that we were waiting for sometime but he continued to ignore us and chatted away with the couple that were seated and having thier wine. We are very disappointed as we have always enjoyed coming here.
Sorry, I am going to have to give this place a "Fair" rating. The place was over crowded and felt like we had to fight to get to the front of the bar to try some wine. We were not able to taste any wine so we proceeded over to the market and purchased some food. The ravioli was just "ok" and the Turkey Panini is also just "ok". The picnic area looks great, however, as I mentioned earlier, the place was crowded and could not find a clear spot to enjoy our food. I'm sure if we came here on a weekday we would have had a better experience. We went over to get some of their dessert and asked one of the staff working behind the counter what he would recommend. He said he is not much of a dessert person and cannot recommend anything. Why would you want someone who doesn't eat dessert working in the that section? We ordered the chocolate mousse and it was very good. Another bad experience would be the people they bus in to their winery. I know they have no control of who comes to their winery, but the staff can try and control the people when they are already there. The people on the bus were drunk as hell and some of the dudes had their shirts off, cussing and yelling at other people trying to enjoy their visit at the winery. Some of the staff watched and laughed at them, but did not do anything to stop them. Pro - the price for wine tasting here is ridiculously cheap. $10 and you get to try 6-9 bottles. I guess this is why tons of people come here.
Matt was our guide and we had a wonderful time sampling some of their wines. Their grounds are open to walk around on and they also invited us to sample some of their grapes. This wasn’t something we were able to do at a lot of the other wineries we visited. They were also prepping for a wedding and I had to share the romantic look below!
My first impression, kids working at greeting station on there PHONE! Please take away the kids toys while they are supposed to be working. ..Crab cakes were good. Cheese sample station server very pleasant.
This was my first wine tasting, so I don't have anything to compare the experience to. However, for someone who has never been a fan of wine, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I wish I could remember the name of the gentleman who served us, because he was quite friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The wines themselves are rather good, and I say that as someone who usually can only taste the alcohol in wine, not the underlying flavors. It'd be great if they offered some crackers or something with the tasting to offset how tipsy you may become (unsure if they do in non-pandemic times) but all in all highly recommended.
Beautiful grounds, great food and wine tasting with Marc!
We booked a corporate tasting, tour, and lunch here first week of November and *really* enjoyed it. Very good wine. Informative tour of the cellar and well-informed tour guides. They brought out four types of sandwiches and two salads, served buffet style, for our group, and we ate on the porch with a view of the vines. Great service, delicious food, and beautiful setting! Plus it’s a family-owner winery, so it feels good to support.
Beautiful setting but very busy place. I really liked the Deli but again you need to be ready to wait. The wine was too fruity and sweet for my taste but I enjoyed sitting outside and eating.
My wife made a wine tasting reservation for our wedding anniversary over one month in advance. We arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation time and were told we would be seated shortly. We had to wait over 30 minutes before being seated only to see multiple other parties who checked in after us being seated before we were. The tasting itself was very nice and we decided to purchase two bottles (Pinot noir rose and Pinot noir) that we really liked. The bottles were packaged and brought to our table. When we arrived home and unpackaged the bottles we found out that we had received the rose and a bottle of Chardonnay even though our receipt reflected the two bottles we had selected and their respective prices. I expect more from a winery like V. Sattui.
Never go to Napa on a Saturday or Sunday, since ALL places are crazy busy and crowded. If at all possible, visit during the week...even Fridays are pleasant. That said, we always stop in at V.Sattui for lunch and a bottle of wine. The deli is good and the cheese selection is vast. The wine list is huge, and a portion of the huge list is actually quite good and a good value for Napa. Some of the Cabernets in their portfolio would cost 2x or 3x at another winery. Definitely a "fun" place if you're new to wine/wine tasting, but also some very decent wine to be had for more "serious" wine lovers.
My favorite Winery of all times they have a fantastic deli when the food is AWESOME! When I go & visit my cousins in Vacaville that's my first. There picnic area is so beautiful with lots of shade all around you. I go up north at least twice a year. I also like driving to San Diego I love old town San Diego & of coarse market stree. Las Vegas always when there's time.
Had a beautiful time at our tasting. Shannon led us through a few wines and helped us think of pairings. Kids were welcome and even got so “kids wine”. We didn’t make it to the deli, but I heard it was a great shop. Would have liked to have the option of a bucket for the extra wine , but it wasn’t a deal breaker at all.
Bad experience with server. I was at V. Sattui, for wine tasting experience. I asked the server, where do I pay for wine tasting. He said right here, I pulled up cash and he said you can pay after tasting. I started tasting, and picked Madeira. He gave me very little quantity, while I was tasting it made a nasty comment 'when you are tasting, you don't pick the most expensive item on the list first'. I was stunned but did not say anything. He filled more of the wine in another glass initially put it next to me, but pulled it away from me. Then he went to talk to other customers. I waited patiently for a couple minutes, he never bothered to return to ask if I need another wine tasting or would like to pay. I walked after waiting enough. May be he was in sales pressure. Treating customer like treating me is no way to win sales. He did not win even his tasting fees.
V. Sattui is a great winery if you are visiting Napa but it can get very crowded especially around lunch time on weekends. They have a wide variety of wines, even some that are good for people who don't usually like wine such as their Gamay Rouge or grape juice. Their outdoor patio is a nice spot for a picnic too.
This is a staple for every Napa visit. It's good for groups and families. They've got a deli with a mean cheese selection, cheap bread, and sprawling grounds with picnic tables to handle the crowds. The atmosphere is the perfect combination of elegance and relaxation which makes for a comfortable, low-key, non-pretentious Napa experience.
Beautiful architecture and scenery, coupled with a delicious selection of wines, makes V. Sattui a gorgeous and relaxing experience in wine country. Taste their wines indoors or outdoors, and buy any selection of their cheeses and meats to pair with your favorite bottle. Outside is also a BBQ area where they sell gourmet meals that are made right in front of you. Have a picnic. Enjoy your meals and your wines with good company on the grass.
Went with my family, and we had an amazing experience. Bart provided us with the tastings and he was so incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Gave us some great wines to taste, and we knew we would be making a purchase at the end of our tasting. Bart also assisted us in placing the order of wine we wanted to take home, got it all set up for us and made the entire tasting/purchase incredibly easy. Highly recommended, and as out of towners, if we ever find our way back here we will definitely come back here!
Beautiful grounds! Great little shopping store to get a quick bite and drinks!
Best wine I've ever had! Amazing views also, would highly recommend!
one of the best places i’ve ever been! awesome wine, great location, friendly stuff. i would love to come back soon! thanks for everything! ????????
My absolute favorite winery. The property has a market where you can buy lunch; there's picnic tables and lots of space. The member cellar is where I've always tasted wines and had a good time chatting with others.
V. Sattui is our go-to every time we hit Napa. Everything about this place is beautiful and appealing. The tasting room is also nice and open as well as spacious (although it gets very crowded because of the popularity of this winery). I'm always shocked when someone tells me that they frequent Napa but have never been here. I tell them "It's a must!". The selection of wine is amazing, the variety and uniqueness of the wines separate V. Sattui from the rest. My warning to others is that if you plan on picnicking here, you better come early! Everyone is a claim jumper early in the day and by noon you're lucky if you find good real estate.
Great spot for a tasting. Big Ed (yes, that’s on his name tag) will make sure you have a great experience. Thanks, Ed!
This place has all different types of wines, our bartender Ed was very nice and he gave us really good recommendations. The prices are very affordable and the environment is scenic. They also offer a Deli with cheese, sandwiches and all type of charcuterie.
Absolutely worst effort in wine tasting for Napa. Poorly trained staff designed to just push as many people thru, without any knowledge of wine. Many better choices in Napa and would avoid to another winery like Peju, Cakebrrad, or anyone else. Need new management, as have never experienced such a ride staff not only to our group, but the constant remarks we heard from other guests in the crowd.
Vanessa was lovely! There was a fantastic variety of wines and Vanessa was extremely knowledgeable. The deli was fantastic and my father and I enjoyed and lovely lunch on the picnic grounds before our tasting.
So we had the opportunity to meet Mr. Jack and Lisa today..our servers and they were absolutely awesome, very personable!
The winery was beautiful!! We rented ebikes and they give you 2 for 1 wine tastings. And the best part is you can pick the 5 wines you want to try from a menu of 12 options.
This is the worst tasting experience we've had at any winery anywhere. If you like feeling like cattle in a stall...or like you are hanging out in a line at Disney World...this place is for you. If you like good wine, a good tasting experience, friendly staff and a unique experience, avoid V. Sattui. We felt like we were doing tastings at Costco on a Sunday. Crowded, touristy and the servers were very grumpy. Every wine they poured for us was mediocre mass-produced table wine. I didn't taste anything I would want to drink again, much less purchase. We paid, left a more than generous tip and decided we would never visit again. I just don't understand the good reviews out there for this place. Almost ANY other tasting room in Napa or Sonoma would give you a far superior experience both in wine quality and atmosphere.
Fun place! It was full of people. We purchased cheese, crackers, and a bottle of wine that we enjoyed on the property. They have a great little market.
Very nice time, nice wine and even in these times, it was a perfect place to kick back, unwind and enjoy a piece of peace. Excellent wines, deli and dips, vinegars, breads and sandwiches. I'm a member, enjoying their wines.
We had a great wine tasting experience on 10/8/21. Jack was awesome!
Excellent wine for a reasonable price. My only complaint is you have to pay for the tasting, but this is Napa valley so whatever. The food trucks were great, the vibes were nice, overall a great place to hang with friends and drink some wine.
We really had a great time visiting this winery. The bbq outside was amazing, our wine tasting was wonderful, the service was wonderful, there was so much cheese to chose from. Will definitely come back.
Too slow service. It literally took more than an hour for 6 wines.
beautiful winery! lovely atmosphere and rustic architecture. wine tasting was a fun experience.
We were on a celebration trip and stopped at V. Sattui at the end of day. Bart our tasting guide was very helpful and accommodating. He was able to recommend both dry and sweet wines since we had different tastes. If more time we would have sat at the picnic area for wine and cheese.
What is there to say? It’s Napa Valley and they make great wines! Lots of one of a kind selections here. Good market with a cheese selection to pair with your wines on the beautiful winery grounds. Only draw back is it’s right on the main drag with a lot of others wineries, so always packed. But one of the oldest wineries in the area!
This was the first of three wineries we visited. The grounds are beautiful and the deli is a nice touch. During our tasting, compared to the two other wineries we visited, we didn’t get much information about the wine-making process, the grapes or really much info about the wines we tasted. It’s more touristy with the focus on getting tasters in and out. It was, however, our favorite wine of the day.
Good wine and good place,I like it.
We had a private barrel taste, lunch and gold room tasting. What a wonderful day spent with friends and a wonderful staff was so helpful and friendly. What a great day! Our tour guide was Bob, our tasting host was Jay. Will definitely share with friends and plan on a return visit. Looking forward to our barrel tasting "futures" to being delivered and enjoyed.
This is a MUST when visiting Napa or while doing a wine tour around, over 100 Years this place is unique with a large selection of wines and a GREAT Deli with lots of selections including cheeses, hams, pastries and also paninis made on the spot that can pair with salads sold by weight. Due to Covid-19 Reservations are required for wine tasting. They have an amazing location for weddings or any celebrations. You can purchase from 1 bottle of Rosé to enjoy in their picnic area to cases shipped to your doorstep. With excellent customer service, atmosphere, and most importantly great wines, V. Sattui makes for both a great stop in a Napa trip as well as a place to spend the day. I visited V. Sattui with some friends just past lunch on a Saturday. Parking was easy, and after meandering through the grounds we opted for the standard tasting in their "marketplace" room. The atmosphere captured the feel of a small store in Napa, complete with a deli stocked with sandwiches, breads, and cheeses. While it seemed crowded at first the amount of bar space for tastings was more than sufficient and we were able to find a place. It was here that V. Sattui really stood head and shoulders above other venues. While some cater style over substance, V. Sattui keeps their wine tasting experience it's top priority. We had the undivided attention of our pourer, Tammy, and were impressed with her knowledge about each selection of wine. Even with five people selecting different wines from V. Sattui's large wine list we were never left waiting for another pour. Her focus was equally balanced between providing pours, giving descriptions, answering questions, and casually chatting with us as we drank. We never felt rushed or neglected at any time, even towards the end of our tastings. The wine list for the marketplace tasting is not their full "members" list but the selection didn't feel limited. With a delightful Sauvignon Blanc and several Chardonnays, Rieslings and other white varietals, those who prefer white wines have plenty to pick from and enjoy. The reds are even better, with multiple Zins, Pinots, blends, and an excellent Cab. You can cap off a tasting with any of the reds, but their dessert wines are tough to pass up with selections like the rich Vintage Port, sweet Muscat, or their signature Madeira. Suffice to say, the tasting list has something for everyone and with quality to boot. Overall, while some places in Napa try to get people in and out as swiftly as possible, the folks at V. Sattui make you feel relaxed and comfortable as you enjoy delicious, well-priced wine in a fun atmosphere.
great winery, highly recommend you opt for the slightly more expensive tasting in the upper tasting room. Marc was an absolute pro, with unparalleled knowledge on the wines of V. Sattui and of the broader region, was by far the best tasting out of the dozen we participated in.
It's a very nice place, I love the deli store and wine, friendly staff safe and nice atmosphere ????
The winery has got a beautiful setting for tasting and can accommodate a lot of people. Great selection of wines. You can select 5 from their list and can add on Cabernet tastings by throwing in some extra bucks. Their Cabernet is a must try. We weren’t offered any food/snack menu, so I am not sure if they serve it or not. Our hostess was really good and explained everything really well. It would be nice if they have more staff as the service was really slow and we had to wait quite a bit. It lacks an interactive or personalised experience but offers great wine. They have a nice gift shop and a beautiful garden to spend some time relaxing with great wine.
We love coming here. We came on the first day back of California's reopening. Some wore masks and others didn't. I did (2 ladies walked out of the restroom without washing their hands and I was like "nope, I'm wearing my mask!). Trey served us our wines, we sat in the covered area, and enjoyed and relaxed. Our lil dog was greeted and allowed on the grounds. After wine tasting, we bought food from the deli, found a picnic table and enjoyed our food. It was almost 100° that day, but the fresh grass and trees kept us cool. Love this place ❤.
A gorgeous property with a large cellar for private events and tastings. They do weekend barbecues and the retail store have cheese, fruits, snacks, and of course to do picnics on the vast property. The one complaint I have about this place is that it gets crowded to the point it's not fun. Still, the people are great and if you can carve a place amid the crowd, I can see great fun to be had.
We went on our first anniversary. I picked the spot due to my family worked there in the past. The location was beautiful, but I will never go back. I appreciate still being able to due to being 15 min late due to traffic but the customer service was bad. Jason or Justin our server at first was nice but got extremely rude to me, pushed a wine that my husband got but I did not want on me then got mad when I didn't like it and barely poured me ANY of my last taste test. I don't pick the same as my husband nor should I be forced to I do not care if it mixed well or not. I pay for the tasting I choose what I want. Period. It is also way over charged for what you get, 35 a person for very little wine that you don't even feel is NOT worth it. We will not be back and very very upset and disappointed in this winery
