Nice place!! Wine tasting and nature.
These guys are great - we have been a few times when visiting back in town. The venue and the wine is delicious. The service is first class. The peacocks make annoyingly loud noises but are also beautiful. Bring a little picnic and enjoy a bit of quiet just outside of the busy Bay area.

Quaint little place for a nice picnic and some wine.
Always a pleasure to spend an afternoon tasting their lovely wines followed by a picnic on their beautiful grounds. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly.
My friend and I stumbled upon this winery and we love it!
Love this song place great picnic and hiking
Very kid friendly and fun picnic area with an exquisite tasting room. Expect a very crowd during warmer summer weekend days.
Don't miss this beautiful piece of wine making history. Mike was fun, friendly and informative. Generously shared his wine knowledge with us.
Great wine and a perfect way to spend the day. Fantastic date spot as well. There is an ample selection of solid wines here. I personally love their Petite …
Pro tip: the place is fully packed on weekends but nearly empty on weekdays. It’s really worth it to take a day-off in the middle of the week and spend several hours seeping excellent local wines enjoying picturesque mountains landscapes. And peacocks.
Amazing views and great wines
Great place for a picnic. Wines are pricey but good. Go for Zinfandel.
Staff is amazing, venue is gorgeous, wine is to die for
They have a large selection of great wines, including some rare kinds, like a sparkling red and ports. More of them lean towards heavy tannins and deep fruity quality, so is you are into that, you will have a blast there. They also have a large outdoor picnic area that gets busy on weekends.
Good wine, great place to start a short hike. Nice trails around in the picchetti park. Pick up a map on your way out, taste some wine when you get back
Sommelier Andrew is very knowledgeable about Picchetti wines and wine in general, and very entertaining. I got an excellent education on the differences between champagne and sparkling wine, red vs. white, food pairing, etc. etc. Thank you very much, Andrew, for giving me my first wine-tasting experience and very first experience doing it with my daughter! You’ve made it a very precious and priceless experience for us! THANK YOU!!! And, we saw a peacock on the ground!????
Great relaxed atmosphere.
Picchetti has a nice selection of wines (obviously), but the real draw is a large grassy area perfect for a picnic. There are also some easy hiking trails right next to the winery. This is a great place to spend a sunny afternoon.
Great get away on a summer day
Good atmosphere but the smell of vomit was a little distracting.
Great local vineyard! The guy gave wonderful stories and history during our tasting. Then we enjoyed the picnic we brought at their tables with delicious wine. A great place to spend an afternoon.
We had a great experience! All of the wines tasted really good and the server was really knowledgeable. Highly recommend! The only bad part was trying to decide which bottles to take home!
Great for kids picnic. Nice and relaxed atmoshpere.
(Translated) I reserved it from the evening at a company event. We enjoyed a welcome party on the patio and dinner with a quaint tasting room. There is a trail, so I think it's okay to take a walk along the trail while tasting. Very nice mountain walks saw a bob cat but convinced it was a mountain lion. Views over San Jose and Mountain View. Man at the alpine style wine bar assured us we'd seen a bobcat it had a short taik.
Nice place for a picknick with a bottle of wine. There is an option of going on a beautiful hike/walk. Kids friendly.
Beautiful place, nice wines and friendly helpful staff! One of the few Valley wineries which is open during weekdays. Awesome surroundings! Highly recommended!
This winery is nice for picnics and special events. I've been there twice, once to shoot engagement photos and once with girlfriends for a picnic. Both times my visit was pleasant. The wine is good, nothing too fancy. The people pouring are always accommodating and gracious. Definitely a place to check out during the Spring and Summer months.
Great escape from silicone valley - quite remote in the woods. Perfect for a nice and easy hike and couple glasses of local wine
Wine is not bad, project of tasting is good, service is so so, kind of crowded during the weekends.
This winery has always been a favorite of ours. Friendly owners and staff, very knowledgeable about wine and pairings. The winery is small but makes some of the best wine in California. To me better than Napa.
Great place for trail, picnic and wine tasting. Only downside is gun shot noise from nearby range
Great wine and fantastic staff. Hit the trail early for the fantastic views, then reward yourself at the end with some libations. Try the port with the fudge (even if you're not into dessert wines). It's amazing. Then sign up for membership because once things open up again, you'll want to have access to the reserve wines during tastings.
Great wine and a perfect way to spend the day. Fantastic date spot as well. There is an ample selection of solid wines here. I personally love their Petite Sirah and Red Pavone the most out of my tasting flight selection but I truly believe there is something for everyone here. At just $10 for 5 tastings and with credit towards a purchase, it is hard to find a better set up in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I also love the picnic tables outside to chill at or to enjoy a meal. There are also some easy trails just outside the tasting room for a relaxing stroll. When there isn't a drought, there is a pond not too far up but it is currenty completely dried out.
The winery grounds are quite pretty, and they have chickens and a peacock. However, the wine here is just bad. Most of the wines are just acidic without much other flavor. One of the wines, the zinfandel, smelled strongly of nail polish …
Love this winery. They have a friendly peacock
Always a great experience! Thanks Cameron
Not only were all the wines delicious but the staff was so kind. My husband & I enjoyed our tasting & took a few bottles with us.
Visited in Aug 2021 and enjoyed a mostly shaded out 1.25 mile (2.5 round trip) trail that took us by the winery, a pond that was dried up and some creakbeds that look like they would be nice if there were some recent rains. You will enjoy the bountiful free parking, bathroom, and even water fountain that worked.
I felt kind of rushed since they were closing so I don’t feel like I enjoyed it that much as I could have. Their tasting is also in a little cabin looking place and it was super hot inside! The tasting is fairly cheap and we got 3 flights to share so we can pretty much try one of each of the wines. I remembered that most of them were pretty good. I liked the sweet ones. The wine pourer (I have no idea what they’re called) we super friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and the area. Overall, not my best tasting experience, but that was partly our fault. It was still decent though.
My favorite winery in bay area. Great reds (Zin, Cab and others) but their white is great as well. I typically don't drink white but their Chardonnay is exceptional. Always crowded. Everyone here is nice. Great surrounding with short (a mile or so) trail. There are 20 or so picnic tables. Kids are welcome. Great place to gather for a group tasting. If you live nearby, it wouldn't hurt to join their wine club. You get your money's worth.

This hidden gem is amazing. Only 20 min. out of San Jose/Cupertino, but you are in another world. Cameron, our wine host, told us stories not only about the place, but also about each wine that he poured. There are tables for you to have a great little picnic and interact with the peacocks.
Very nice place to spend an afternoon, quite crowded on the weekends so don't be disappointed if you cannot find an available picnic table. Great service in the tasting room. Very close to the Silicon Valley so no need to drive to Sonoma or Napa for a wine tasing.
I DO love this winery. Both white wine lover and red wine lover can enjoy tasting, and they also have great dessert wine. Their wine tastes good and have variety from light fruity one to heavy rich one. Not only the taste but also they produce unique style wines (they taste good, of course!), and that surprise me every time we visit here. I strongly recommend this winery if you have little ones because they are very kids friendly!
????????????????????
Awesome place. Great atmosphere.
Wine tasting is pretty good!
Andrew did our tour and he was exceptionally knowledgeable as well as charismatic. Tour for me was the best part. The wine was ok, not the best, not the worst. The picnic area was fairly pleasant. The tables are not level at all and make it fairly difficult for tipsy folks to easily have wine glasses on them.
Easily the best winery to picnic at in the entire Santa Cruz mountain region. Very kid-friendly. Great sparkling wines, even a sparkling red zinfandel!
Worth the drive. As someone else posted, it is great to hike the ziphendale trail or take bear meadow trail up to the winery. The people who work there are very knowledgeable. Wines are a little pricy but the tastings are reasonable. I ended up buying wine...it was very tasty. Small vinyard wines.
Sept 2014 - Reasonably priced wine tasting. We had a group of 10 so the one staff behind the counter was a little overwhelmed. It took us a long time to get through 5 different wines. Service was impeccable though. I like the reds but not the Port wine.
Crowded on a Saturday, wines were decent
Beautiful winery, delicious wines!
Impeccable wine! Rustic setting with personable and knowledgeable staff completing the tastings (would have guessed them as wine making staff/finishers). Worth every second of my time and ever penny spent!
Easy hiking trail available. Wine tasting in a casual atmosphere with interesting information on the winery and the wines being tasted.
Ten minutes from 280, this is one of silicon valley's hidden gems.
In A Nutshell: -Pichetti Winery is a local South Bay secret. Why drive up to Napa when you …
Great for kids picnic. Nice and relaxed atmoshpere.
Sometimes it gets too crowded but it's always nice.
What a beautiful spot with some wonderful wine. My group was split between those who are wine aficionados and those who usually avoid drinking wine. All of us had a great time and agreed we would visit again for a tasting. This was certainly in part due to our wine expert Hunter who was very informative and fun.
Great fun!
Great wine tasting experience with smiles! I loved that you can bring your own picnic. Recommend tasting wine and then buying some bottles to enjoy on the benches. Also the peacock are really friendly and it’s cool to see them up close. On the side there was a hiking trail- didn’t really venture out but in my short walk I saw a deer.
Superb wines of award winning quality. The staff in helpful, well informed, friendly and fun to be around. The historic buildings (circa 1880's) are fascinating. It is set in the Open Space Preserve so it is surrounded by beautiful scenery and wonderful trails.
Lots of picnic tables and very family friendly as wellas a great place to have a picnic in the grass. It is right next to a nature preserve with a great view. No dogs are allowed. Peacocks wonder around the winery and the nature preserve. It is a great place to go for families with any age of child. They do not offer much in food, but it is a fun place to go.
Awesome spot in South Bay for some wine tasting. You don't have to go all the way up to Napa! The wine tasting is only $10 and you taste like 5 wines. If you're here early enough, snag a table outside or bring a blanket for a picnic. You can buy a bottle of wine and enjoy with friends and family (bring your own food/snacks).
Bring you own cheese, olivas and other snack and enjoy a bottle of their great wine (starting around $30) in their open garden with picknick tables. Or choose to taste a flight of wines indoor for 15$. Great place!
Fantastic and energetic service. Beautiful tastings of delicious whites and reds.
Came in for a delightful tasting on a hot day. Got bonus fudge to pair with our port out of it! We left with a large order of wine to enjoy at our own pace afterward.
I was here for a private event in the evening. The venue is quite nice for a group of 30 or so of your closest friends. They don't provide food, but are very helpful with setting up. Their red blend and zinfandel were both quite good. I was also impressed with their chardonnay.
Always a fun place for a wine tasting, picnic, and a hike. Great selection of wines. The sparkling rose and zinfandel are beyond fantastic. Shout out to Andrew for always providing a personalized and awesome experience. Be sure to get there early on the weekend for a good (level) picnic table. The wine membership is also a great deal with 4 tastings per month.
Good wine. Nice place to take a walk after some tasting.
Love this place. Great to get some good wine and play board games
Gorgeous local winery super close to Cupertino and not too far up windy Montibello rd. Lots of wildlife, nice picnic areas and hiking trails adjacent with nice bathrooms. Parking but get there early in summer.
Good wine.
Good.
In A Nutshell: -Pichetti Winery is a local South Bay secret. Why drive up to Napa when you have a backyard winery like Pichetti? -The wine here is very good and if you become a club member you get some really great deals. -The property has plenty of parking, a welcoming country style feel, highly knowledgeable staff (shout out to Smiley) and some great wine selections. Overall, you should come and take a short trip to Pichetti, there's a lot of history at this winery and you can take it all in w/ some excellent wine tastings.
Love the winery and their wines. Nice place for a walk and then maybe a quick wine tasting :) The Super Tuscan 2007 is fabulous.
Perfect location in the middle of the nature, with awesome wines
Lovely grounds and great wine
Love their wines and also location. Go hiking in the Open Space Preserve, have a picnic and taste wine all in one location. If you are lucky, you will see peacocks strolling the grounds
Delicious old world wines. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Beautiful place to hike!
Great place for a hike and tasting outing. Take the Zinfandel trail loop and reward yourself with a glass of Zin at the winery with some cheeses.
Beautiful vineyard and tasting room that can be included in a hike from Stevens Creek County Park
Wine and peacocks!! Isn't amazing? Perfect combo for a great experience. Highly recommend it and the wine is delicious.
Really great staff here. They are very enthusiastic about the product.
Interesting rltasting room, wines were interesting, Zinfandel and cab the beat
Good wine, great trails, fun area for the kids to play. Wildlife includes dress, salamanders, bobcat and birds of prey.
Bring a picnic and your wallet to haul home lots of wine
Fun place for picnics.
Beautiful wines, a couple are local on the hill grown grapes. The merlot is especially nice.
Great rustic setting. Great wine.
Excellent tasting menu, 5 wines for $15, wonderful rustic ranch with peacocks and hiking trails in the back
Wonderful experience with the gracious wine stewards of picchettie
There is a surcharge on their wine price for the magnificent lawn and picnic area. Be warned that if you sit on the grass the chickens won't leave you alone
Great place for large groups! We have an annual picnic where adults can enjoy wine and each other company and kids have room to run around with each other.
Nice variety of wines and their ports are great. Small enough that you get individual attention.
We are members of this winery. Membership is free and yields great benefits for tastings. The wine is delicious and the grounds always make for a nice weekend picnic.
Awesome place for a picnic, the kids can play on the grass and there's a short and beautiful hike. I recommend bringing cheese and crackers, it goes well with their famous rosé!
Gorgeous winery! Super friendly staff in a beautiful setting. Try the Brut Zinfandel!
Nice, quiet place. Great wines. Will definitely be back.
Love the wine, love the location. Not much else to say but I'll give it a go. My favorite wine is their Pavone. Grab it if they have it. Really you can't go wrong with any of their wines though. If you enjoy hiking, there are nice trails here as it is on a nature preserve. On the warmer days you can see some peacocks roaming the property. Bring yourself some lunch and enjoy the picnic tables. Great for couples and families. Enjoy!
So much yummy wines and a beautiful atmosphere. Andrew spoiled us! Thanks so much and you need to stop by this little hidden gem!!
Nice, always!
Great tasting room, knowledgeable staff and good walking nearby
We have been going to Picchetti Winery for the past 16 years. Over that time, the skills of the winemakers have increased, and they make really excellent wine. Leslie's Cab Sav is excellent, as is the Estate Zin. You can actually hike up to the vineyard, which was planted over a hundred years ago. The have a large, rustic tasting room, and a sizable picnic area. In addition, the winery is in the Picchetti Ranch Open Space Reserve, and is located next to the trail head of the reserve's main trail head. A hike followed by wine tasting makes for a nice weekend outing. Some weekends (such as Father's Day) can pretty crowded.
During the shelter in place, they have made it very easy and safe to purchase wine, and/or pick up wine if you're a club member. During this time you can park at the wine tasting building for wine pickup. Keep left as you turn off of Montebello road to enter the winery property and parking area.
The port is amazing!!!!!!
Nice short hiking trails, perfect area for picnics. Also, they make the best port wine I've ever tried in California.
How amazing to see deers and peacocks around. Such a Quiet Historical site standing on the mountain overseeing the busy hi-tech valley, can you imaging?
I’ve been to a few wineries in the area, but this one was a serendipitous find. Very old winery with charming architecture. Some unique wines including a sparkling red which I haven’t seen before. Lots of space outdoor to hang out and enjoy your wine.
Very drinkable enjoyable wines. Pouring staff a little abrupt with holiday traffic. No crackers despite 10 buck tasting fee. Still fun place to visit!
Wonderful wine. Great staff. Nice picnic grounds to enjoy a bottle purchase.
Awesome friendly winery.
Wonderful atmosphere
Really great staff here. They are very enthusiastic about the product.
It is just beautiful and the wines are fantastic.
Excellent place to visit. The wines are delicious, and it's a great place for a picnic.
Had a wonderful tasting here, this winery is fantastic. My group had a lovely experience with Hunter who was knowledgeable about the wines and fun to chat with. He was very generous with our pours and let us try extra port! Everything we tasted was delicious, and I love that you get to pick from any of their wines! This will be my recommended visit for folks visiting from out of town.
The winery grounds are quite pretty, and they have chickens and a peacock. However, the wine here is just bad. Most of the wines are just acidic without much other flavor. One of the wines, the zinfandel, smelled strongly of nail polish remover. If you use oak barrels for too many years, the oak barrels start to build up ethyl acetate which smells like nail polish remover. This is probably what happened to Picchetti. I think it shows a lack of product integrity to not dump wine that you find out smells like nail polish remover. The one thing that they made that I think is actually worthy buying was the apéritif which had a nice refreshing flavor. Also, the wines here are fairly expensive and they gave extremely frugal pours during the tasting.
I had such a great time for my 25th birthday. The wine attendant Tristen was absolutely amazing! He gave us so much information on the winery itself but also about the wine making process in general. Great wine and great experience. We will be back!
Casual, friendly
One of my favorite vineyards. The wine is great, the staff are super friendly, and the atmosphere is very laid back. Such a nice break from some of the other hyper touristy places in the area. The tasting room is in an old barn with quirky chandeliers made out of antlers. Always fun to try to hunt down the resident peacock for a photo op.
Saved a bottle of their 2013 Malbec until a special occasion in 2017. This is the most amazing wine ever.
Great sparkling zin and white blend.
