We've got all the information of people who consume the products and services of Gundlach Bundschu Winery (Winery) near to the territory of Wabana (Canada).
Right now this business has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 and that rating was based on 127 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is almost the best one, and it is based on a very large number of opinions, so we may be quite sure that the rating is quite faithful. If many people have bothered to leave their opinion when they are happy, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to put feddbacks when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Winery is classified in the category of Winery.
We visited the winery on Sunday the 15th. Upon presenting my info for the wine club I was informed I'd need to also purchase the June allotment. When asked why informed that's our policy. So let's see.... We're 15 days away from the next shipment and I must take the June allotment that is over 100 days past. Seriously, very unaccommodating and nobody could explain why, just "our policy." Well I assure you my wine club with Justin, Frank Family and Rombauer is a much better choice as they will work with you, even hold a shipment over having you leave the club, very smart I'd say. Gundlach Bundschu you let me walk our after wanting to make a $2,000 commitment over a $500 purchase that just doesn't make any sense. Very short sighted.....
Wonderful wine cave experience. The wines are even better.
The service was extremely slow and forgetful and they weren’t ever that busy. It took over an hour to get the first 3 wines. We almost had to cut the last wine short bc we were almost late to our next reservation.
Great location, beautiful property with lots of land to enjoy while sipping on delicious wine, fun events for both members & non members and excellent prices
This winery consistently produces some of the most satisfying wines around. Old school, old world style, appropriately priced and a pleasure to drink. If you are anywhere in the area, make the effort to visit. You won't be disappointed.
Beautiful ground, good food from Marks the Spot and great wine.
NICE.
Been a member for years. Laid back and relaxingm not pretentious and great wines.
Really nice people but wish their would have been more to see or do.
We came to this gorgeous winery right near closing. If you are a fan of dry wines this is for you. The view is awesome, you can buy a bottle(s) and enjoy the scenery. The restrooms are away from the wine tasting. This property was fabulous.
Beautiful setting. Their Zinfandel is fantastic. I think I'm a Zinfandel fan now.
BEAUTIFUL WINERY!! Highly recommend doing a tasting on the patio especially if the weather is nice. The wines are great, too!
One of the oldest wineries in the area and such a tranquil and lovely place. Love how they have tried to keep the area, although it's become touristy. Would definitely recommend calling in advance to get a tasting on the outside patio (reservations only) otherwise they have a few standing spots inside or a pop-up bar on the outside where you can have wine by the glass and walk around the grounds.
Absolutely enchanting with the view of the water. Very appealing. Attentive staff. Lovely Mother's Day excursion
Richard made our time a sincere pleasure. Thank you for hosting us!!!
Casual wine-tasting with picnic tables, dirt and grassy areas. The chardonnay and the pinot stood out for me. The beautiful vines and scenery are dream-perfection????
Quality wine, service, and scenery. Thank you Kevin for exceptional service and experience at the tasting (please give him recognition). We loved the service, attention detail, and history. We'll always look forward to our next shipment from here!
Worth it. Quality of fruit. Aging. Experience. Environment are all top notch. We came here on our honeymoon four years ago and it was an eye opener. They respect what they do without being pretentious or snobby. It's easy to buy into what they're producing because each wine is on point and unique in some way. This year we discovered their Cab Franc and it's fantastic. It has the old world charm of Loire valley cab franc. Floral, supple red fruit, balanced acidity and tannins. But you know turned up a notch with California sunshine and gunbun finesse. Must visit.
Great views and super friendly staff. Not my favorite wine but its worth a stop.
Beautiful winery, pround and friendly staff. We dropped in on an unassuming wed noon, will for sure return for a better tour
The experience of sitting outside with your puppy and your friends while sipping on delicious wines is superb. ????????????????
From a Chauffeurs point of view. I got chased around by two guys that refused to let me park my black limousine in some shade, even though I made sure to park in a way to avoid being in the way of traffic. On a 100+ day, that was and is uncalled for. I encourage my customers to visit other wineries in the area that appreciate a limousine full of customers.
Great family, great wine at a serene and natural location. A must visit while in Sonoma.
Fantastic winery great concerts
Great tour. Really enjoyed it!
First time visiting Sonoma. Super friendly staff, informative and just a great vibe all around.
The best wine flight we had in Sonoma. The vista seating was really beautiful with a refreshing breeze. There are maybe too many people working and checking you in. And you have to pay a $25 table fee. But the value of the flight for how good the wine is and how much you get makes up for it. Would definitely visit again.
Was our first Winery trip. It was very beautiful a lot of history for The Vineyards the staff was great and friendly service was awesome they were very accommodating now I know why they already had such a high rating on Google Maps.
This is a great example of a winery that uses it's space to create an amazing visitor experience. Ex: you can sit down in the courtyard and order wine by the glass, or by the bottle, or pick a flight... The staff is welcoming and they are firmly in the service of hospitality. Overall, the venue is the most beautiful property in Sonoma, the staff is the friendliest, and the wine is unbelievable. Also, Kat is the best.
Beautiful place for a wine tasting.
It was my first time visiting as well as enjoying a show at a winery and let's just say this place was perfect :) friendly staff, beautiful scenery, delicious wines and amazing show by The Voidz. Highly recommend visiting especially if a fav band of yours is doing a gig there.
Gorgeous grounds, club members get free tastings anytime for up to 5 guests and free concert tickets, among other benefits. Tastings are $20, you get 5 wines. The wine here is excellent, bottles run $25-$125 and up... pinot noir is $40, my pick for Christmas. Can't go wrong here for an authentic, high quality Sonoma wine tasting.
Had a company event here and it was wonderful. Quiet, lots of room, and the staff was wonderful. Plenty of parking and very clean.
Gundelach Bundschu was one of the best places my husband and I tasted on the day we went tasting. We held on to their bottle for about a year and it was even better than we remembered. The people were friendly (which is always important!) and knowledgable, and the wine was stellar. This is somewhere I will definitely return to in time to revisit the wine and the ambiance.
Absolutely LOVE these folks. Down to earth, friendly, the best customer service ever. Just spoke with Samantha and she helped us tremendously! Gundlach Bundschu has been a favorite of ours for years, even so much so that we placed their capsule top into the foundation of our home...they've meant that much in our lives. How can wine change someone's life? Just ask GunBun...thank you for the wonderful people, wine, service & experiences! We'll continue to visit & enjoy your wines as long as you'll have us!
My friend and I did the winter cave tour and I would absolutely recommend it! We got to learn about how the vineyard has worked hard to maintain sustainable farming practices! We were the only ones who booked it (Thursday early afternoon) and our host, Kat was wonderful! She taught us so much about the vineyard/wine. The wine was amazing and Kat made sure we had an unforgettable experience. Definitely will be back!!
Beautiful winery. Our first stop before our scheduled winery visits at William Selyum and Scribe. We couldn’t partake in a tasting as our time didn’t include a [scheduled] tasting (all booked). The tasting room pourer poured a very generous glass of wine for myself and my girlfriend. I loved the glass of wine I had (Gewürztraminer).
Nice, short tour with all needed information, cool guide and plenty of wine to tase - nice experience and very good wines! Recommended
Stunning property, fantastic wine, super-friendly service. If I could give it more than 5-stars I would. Bravo GB! Follow our fam on IG @lafamiliamilligan
We were able to drop in and have s nice bottle on the terrace. We didn't have s reservation as it was a last minute detour. Nice grounds and personnel.
Nice, quaint winery. Enjoyed the tasting and a little picnic
Nice grounds, interesting history. My fiends liked the wines well enough.
Staff was so lovely, with great outdoor space. Lots of history here. The wine were not my favorites.
Great service and very hospitable to our group!
I would come here for the friendly people. I was treated like a king by extremely knowledgable staff with a generous pour and great smile. While I was touring sonoma valley, we stopped at quite a few wine tasting places and this was one of my favorites. The syrah cab was personally my favorite, but they're all delicious. I also surprisingly fell in love with their Zinfandel. And lastly, the name is classic. Gun lock bun shoe - best marketing ever. I'm also very weird when it comes to naming factors...
Reserve the cellar tour - well worth it
Incredibly beautiful winery and tasting room just out of Sonoma. It's one of the oldest wineries in the state. Tasting are $20-25 which are in line with other wineries in the area.
The wines speak for themselves, spectacular. Our hostess, Rosie, was amazing. Knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming, humorous!! Thank you Rosie!
Highly recommend the Heritage Tasting Experience. My boyfriend and I were greeted by Gabe and learned all about the family history of Gun Bun while tasting 5 wines and had a food pairing. This was a very personal experience and well worth the money.
Lovely wines and beautiful scenery. We loved learning about the family owned winery!
Great tour!
Great place. Try outdoor tasting. I would recommend their Heritage Pinot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Great staff. This place is full of history and great wines.
One of our favorite spots! :)
I've brought people to the winery multiple times and experiences vary. The tasting room itself is often busy and crowded; opt for the outdoor tasting area if it is open. The cave tour is also a great way to get away from the crowds and taste the wine in cooler conditions. If you're willing to forego the tasting, you can buy wines by the glass or bottle and have a picnic on the beautiful grounds. The wines themselves are balanced and elegant; among my favorites in Sonoma--but I don't base my rating on that because taste is very subjective.
Oldest family-owned winery in California. Great staff, beautiful grounds, and very laid-back...grab a bottle and pick up some food to dine at the picnic tables out in the sun. I'm a member and can't get enough of their Gewürztraminer
The place is nice and huge (no issues with accommodating people outdoors during Covid19 crisis), everyone was nice, and the wine we tried was ok. However I was disappointed about being charged $25 for booking a table to sit outdoors to taste the wine. The fee was only for the table. This is the only winery that I know does that. Had I known before I went I would have probably not made an appointment. You get to keep the glasses, but I didn't want the glasses I used for the tasting. Two old glasses that have been used a million times before I took them home and that I have no space for in my house. It's not that I would not recommend people to go there, but there are other places just as nice that don't charge you $25 to sit on a table.
Really great place for a wine tasting! We did the grounds + cave tour and not only enjoyed the wine but also the history about Gundlach. Don’t miss out on a tour here!
Rob gives such a wonderful tour. Please be sure to ask him about his book, Uncorking Miracles!
Loved the pinzgauer tour and how the winery is still in the family but producing wine at high qualities! Our tour guide was in the family and gave us all kinds of fun tidbits. Thanks Gun Bun!
Amazing wine and super personable staff. If I could only recommend one winery in Sonoma , it would be here!
fun tasting, knowledgeable and friendly staff, beautiful area, the wines are excellent!
I really enjoyed visiting this winery - the staff was friendly, the wines were good, and they had an amazing wine cave! They also had a cute picnic area I would like to come back to.
You'll feel immersed in the winery operation. Very laid back, heritage family operation. Wonderful wines. Panoramic beauty. Great picnic spaces. Dog friendly. Easy parking.
Great views, friendly staff, and charming cave with a seating area inside. The wine was good but didn't leave a lasting impression.
Very busy winery with good reason. All their wines, mostly reds, were excellent, with favorites being the tempranillo, cabernet franc, and cabernet sauvignon. The vintage reserve was pretty amazing too, but at a very steep price. The grounds are beautiful, and the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Top notch Sonoma winery!
Request Gary for your tasting.
Super crowdy, almost as expensive as Napa. No stools inside, okay wine.
Lovely venue, wonderful wine. Deep history
Really nice spot, expansive property and they have a couple of very nice wines.
They made us newbies feel at home!
Very nice staff
Beautiful place with so many great wines. Richard is amazing, thank you!
Cool spot. The outside area is neat and a nice alternative to the tasting room, which can get crowded. Very enjoyable time here.
Came for a show in the Red Barn. What an intimate venue with great sightlines, a mellow crowd, and a very laid back vibe. The sound quality was slightly imbalanced for the opener but perfect for the headline. Pretty typical. My only real complaint was that parking is quite far from the actual barn. It's a really peaceful walk so it's not that big of a deal.
Great winery, fun atmosphere and lots of music all the time.
Intimate, high quality wine, super friendly amazing landscape. It doesn't get better than this in the area.
Great Gewurztraminer and decent reds. Especially like the Zinfandel.
Great outdoors, good staff, highly recommended. Decent wine selection!
Lovely facilities and scenery.
Great service. Beautiful location and atmosphere. Wines did not thrill us...felt non descriptive ..a personal experience.
Gun-Lock Bun-Shoe This is a historic winery with nice grounds and good wine. However, like a lot of places in the wine country, it's a bit overrun with visitors. The tasting room is too small for the traffic they get. Worth a stop, but I won't be a regular.
Great place
Buy the Vintage Reserve. The cave tasting was amazing!
Their Gewurztraminer is amazing! Take a bottle outside and enjoy the view
Very slow service and mediocre wine - I would visit another winery instead of coming here.
Wonderful wines... Great staff.... Years of wine making tradition. Glad to be back in the Bacchus Wine Club.......
A beautiful little winery with tons of options the cave alone is almost worth the trip. They have great service and helpful staff.
We loved it here. Laid back atmosphere, plenty of picnic spots, great parking and good wine... What else is needed?
Awesome winery. Great view with outdoor area. Dog friendly
We visited on 7/21/19, but sadly they had already stopped tasting. However, they were hosting a movie night, so we had the opportunity to explore the sprawling grounds. We’ll come back again soon for the tasting! 1h10m from SoMa, (45 mi) Reservations Recommended, but not Required Snacks Available Summer Hours: 11am-5:30pm (winter: 11-4:30p) $20-25 / person tasting $30 Tasting Flight in Courtyard $40 Reserve Tasting in Courtyard $85 / person Heritage Reserve Tasting (11am, 2pm) $45 / person Gun Bun Cave Tour (12, 3pm) $45 / person Vineyward/Cave Tour (2:30pm) $65 / person Pinzgauer Excursion (11am, 3pm) Pro: * Vast grounds with lots of areas to explore, including caves * Many tasting and excursion options * Relatively close to SF Cons: * None yet!
Probably one of the worst wineries visited over the course of a weekend visiting wineries in Napa and Sonoma. Selling chilled bottled of white wines and Rosé with no ice buckets or ice sleeves for chilling the wine. The food options were limited and pretty low quality, especially given the price (photo of the Caprese Sandwich attached). Providing guests with lukewarm water with no ice. We made a reservations but all the open tables had dirty glasses on them and clearly were not being cleaned between groups. Given the California heat during the day, pretty disappointing and made the experience unenjoyable.
Gundlach Bundschu is a cozy winery that's very proud of it's family heritage. We had a lovely, educational tasting, and they had amazing hospitality. Shout out to Rosie, who had a great passion for the wines and taught us a lot!
Biked over to this winery and went into the tasting room. Was $20 per tasting (on the higher side for Sonoma), and included 2017 Gewurztraminer, 2015 Pinot Noir, 2015 Zinfandel, 2015 Cabernet Franc, 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (with a revisit if your preference). $5 extra to enjoy the Vintage Reserve Red. Very delicious wines, and Rosie (lady in the purple top behind bar) was very attentive and friendly. Had a wonderful time here despite it being very very busy. Needed to call ahead and reserve a time for tasting. No tasting fee waved if you purchase a bottle. If you ask about their sister vineyard Bartholomew Park Winery they will give you a card with the details and a 10% off your wine purchase there
Love their wines
I love it!!
Nice afternoon spent here!
This is the best winery with great view. Good wine selection to try.
Nice patio, emphasis on tourists, winery itself is basic tankfarm. Does have a wine cave; maybe interesting. Picnic tables galore, would be a good hangout spot for your "secret discovery" in the summer.
Was there for a private event the setting is amazing
Love this place
Excellent tasting, knowledgeable and friendly sommelier.
Very nice wines
Great for birthday surprises ;-) Highly recommended, be sure to call ahead and reserve a spot on the tour.
Incredible. Amazing staff and marvelous wine.
Wine and service were both a huge disappointment. Tasting room staff were too busy pouring for themselves and eating tortilla chips to be bothered to serve us.
Beautiful venue and stellar wines
Great history, great setting, great wine. Non-pretentious but of the highest quality. A great, laid back, out of the way spot to bring your wine loving guests.
Went for tasting for our 9th anniversary. Wonderful staff, amazing Gewürztraminer.
(Translated) Magnificent place in the middle of nature. Visit of cellars, vineyards and wine processing. Tasting in a pretty garden facing a lake. To have the pleasure of this beautiful view you still need to eat, otherwise you can always drink your glass on a shady spot. Store on site. A "like" for my Google Opinion, thank you and Enjoy!
This is probably the most touristy of the Sonoma wineries I visited on my trip out here, but it's enjoyable none the less. A thorough tasting in a picturesque location. Seems a lot of people come to drink moreso than they come to really learn a lot or anything though.
One of the best wineries we visited in Sonoma, really relaxing experience and friendly staff.
Very friendly staff, beautiful grounds, rich history and flavor in the tasting room. Wine? Great!
Woah high density of mega good boys. Wine is dec too
One of the most educational tours.
Best spot in Sonoma. You can drop in without appointment and they always seem to fit you in. Great reds. Very friendly folks.
Great wines and good views! We had a wonderful time here and it was one of my top places for Napa and Sonoma areas. Only thing, if you pass 90 minutes, you’ll need to move even if ordering more wine.
Huge winery with great wines.
I’m a huge fan. Gundlach’s bohemian vibe is the classic CA experience, and a refreshing change of pace. We went toward closing after the kitchen had closed and they gladly sold us meats and cheeses so we could build our own charcuterie board.
Great view and good wine, but way understaffed. Plan on a 1.5 hr 5 glass tasting.
Great winery and venue for events and an evening!
This is becoming one of my favorite places for wine tasting trip. Beautiful scenery, great wines and friendly staff
Rude at times.. to treat paying customers with any kind of disrespect seems odd but sadly true. Wealthy owners must be aware that servers are talking down to less knowledgeable wine tasters. Stuck up primodonnas in my opinion.
Great experience. Went straight to the tastimg room, Deana (not sure about the spelling) was great. She took great care of me, told me all about the winery's history and the wines I tasted. I felt very welcomed and walked away very satistied. Totally recommend!
This place is heaven sent. The wine is incredible and the staff is awesome. Wherever you are in Napa or Sonoma you punch this place into your GPS, you won't be sorry that you did!
Nice estate with a great wine selection. Excellent and distinctive reds with less of a tannin kick than you might expect. The Merlot and Tempranillo stood out.
Gun. Lock. Bun. Shoe Is it true? That's how you say it? Oh, how my eyes lit When I saw the beautiful vines And I enjoyed the flight of wines! Pinot Noir, Rosé, and Zinfandel Sweet fruity taste and smell! Chardonnay had green apple? That I couldn't quite grapple. I still thought it was great, So good, I can't hate! Cabernet Sauvignon was a little tannic, however, there was no reason to panic! The taste of heavy red wine is extremely divine. Extra fee for Vintage Reserve. Intellectually satisfying, I observe. Reservation needed to sit outside Didn't have it, so tasting was inside! Bar had a huge crowd, Gary entertained and endowed. But before we were done, he had to run! Another took over By a woman who's a rover. I was a little sad, but she wasn't at all bad!
Gun lock bun shoe. That's an easy way to remember how to pronounce the name of this winery. It's worth it to do the short walk up the hill and over to the other side for a gorgeous view of the vineyards-- just part of the 320 acres this winery owns. Super friendly staff. I like the scenery here, but not so much of a fan of the reds that we tried here. Participants of the Visa Signature club, which gets you 3 free pours or 2 for 1 tasting.
Great place for dry and aromatic wines. Their Petit Syrah and Gewurztraminer are my favorites. However, I am not a fan of their Signature mix and the Cabernet. The staff here is knowledgeable enough and are extremely nice. They offer two free tastings for Visa Signature and comped all four of us when we went.
Such a beautiful environment with great hosts and wine that can't be forgotten.
The location is amazing for a picnic! Order some wine and bring your food
Gorgeous place with great views. The staff is super friendly and made us feel very welcome
Tito is a wonderful wine educator ... took care of all us at the bar. Very nice lovely experience.
Outstanding wine and staff! This vinery has it all. Great views and awesome vine. They have a great vine club also. Lots of history here being one of the oldest in the area. 1858!
Decided to go for a tasting late in the day, and stopped by after hearing about this place being dog friendly. The winery staff was wonderful!! They let us bring our small dog into the tasting room, gave her a TON of treats and lots of love and attention as we tasted the wines, and gave us such wonderful information about the history of the family and winery. Gary was so friendly and informative as he described the winery’s journey to date, and the pictures around the tasting room helped bring it all to life! After the tasting, we sat outside on the picnic tables and soaked in the afternoon sun while overlooking the pond. It was beautiful. I’d definitely come back here again!
This place is a staple of any trip I've taken to Napa/Sonoma. We appreciate the laid back staff, lovely picnic area and bike racks. Very picturesque and really nice vibrant wines.
Extremely nice and knowledgeable staff. Notwithstanding this winery's history and contribution to the wine industry, their wines are pretty abysmal considering what is surrounding it.
I'm rating the event I went to in the barn tonight, which is probably still on, but I am home. Doors at 7, show at 8, but some suicidal sounding opening act drove most everyone outside. At 9:20, we could finally hear Nicki Bluhm start, but since there was no seating, except for the band, only the people right next to the stage could see them. These events are not dances, these are our favorite artists we want to SEE perform. By 10 pm people were flowing out of there.
Beautiful setting. Very quaint & wonderful scenery. The wines were not my favorite. However, the 2014 Reserve was outstanding.
Service was not of high quality especially the knowledge about their own wines. Place was also too crowded.
This place was highly recommended by a friend of mine so stopped by last minute. Blown away by the scenery around the vineyard. Everyone was super cool and we were able to buy a bottle and given a few glasses to enjoy the wine around the winery. The Zinfandel was highly recommended and thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend this place!
Super friendly, great vibe and delicious wine.
Ideal for a wine picnic in a scenic setting. I have been looking for a dry Gewuerztraminer wine for some time. Gundlach Bundschu offers an excellent one.
Friendly welcoming place
Super nice! We had some wine in a very pleasant place, very good
Knowledgeable and unpretentious staff, a young, hip crowd, and some very drinkable wines, several of which were unusual varieties for Napa. We didn't have as much time here as we would've liked, as we had an appointment at another winery. Can't wait to go back and spend some time.
Great wine, amazing location, brilliant patio.
I loved visiting Gun-Bun! I came with a group of 6 and we had a fabulous time. Our server was attentive to our needs and educated us about the wine as well as the surrounding area. AND he was nice enough to take a bunch of pictures for us! We had a blast, bought a bunch of wine, and I can't wait to return.
Had an amazing experience on the "Dirt to Bottle" tour. It was very fun and informative and our tour guide was the best. It felt like a very personal experience and was the perfect choice for our trip. She even recommended another vineyard we should visit since we are huge fans of Moscato. The grounds were beautiful and peaceful. Highly suggest everyone visit
Gunbun has always been a favorite. Great wines. Fun times and great service. Plus you can bring your dog.
Beautiful winery
(Translated) You look amazing (Original) 素晴らしい
Great outdoor area with nice views and terrific wines!!
I always love the wines at Gunbun. Great service, and unforgettable location.
Informative, interesting, fun tour. Delicious wines, beautiful setting!
We dropped in casually on a Friday afternoon and the staff seated us right away - love the hassle / booking free experience. Scenic view; a young crowd at the bar; overall a very nice afternoon!
What a lovely winery with absolutely lovely people. So accommodating and helpful. Someone came up to the parking lot with a golf cart to assist a guest with a walker~ All the staff friendly and helpful, from the golf cart driver to our servers...Scott and Anthony. Everyone relaxed and gracious, not to mention the wine was fabulous and the cheese plate very generous. Met every expectation for taking visiting family on a memorable afternoon~ thank you Gundlach Bundshu for a delightful day...we will be back with friends! Geri Cannon, Laura McSkeane, Erica Monterosa
This place does even not deserve a 1-star rating. They rejected our money because we fit their (erroneous) stereotype of non-Californians who did not share in their views. I've never been rejected from any establishment in my 64 years of life, and I'm still in shock. This place does not deserve to be respected, as they are the most non- customer service oriented business I have ever seen. Horrible place. Strongly recommend you go to one of the other fine Sonoma wineries. To note, this is the first bad review that I have ever posted in my life, as I am a very tolerant person.
Nice little winery with a cozy tasting room. Highly recommend the outdoor space near the water, very relaxing and great view!
Great place. Great music. Great fun.????
My son and I were on a four day getaway. Spent a few hours on site. Did the wine tasting ( fantastic) and trays of meat and cheese from the cooler. Covid-19 restrictions were in place but social distancing was never an issue as all the other visitors and staff acted like adults and kept the visit safe. Beautiful scenery. Gift shop was very nice. I am excited to bring my wife with me on our next visit.from Kansas. Everyone we met were so friendly. Definitely a 5 star destination.
My new favorite winery! Really cool place. Fun people. Interesting history and fabulous wine!
Stellar views and an excellent vibe, if you are thinking about going for a traditional tasting or a long visit make sure to reserve a time on their site. Great place to wonder around and find your own spot to enjoy a few glasses.
We did the vineyard & cellar tour with some of our out of town, new-to-wine relatives and had a great time! Our tour guide Win was laid back, fun and informative. We appreciated how much of a genuine wine lover Win was- he inspired us to start trying wines from all over the world and really reignited our interest in learning about wine. And we got 5 delicious pours in a beautiful setting!
Awesome tasting! Misty was wonderful and so knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
Wine is awesome, especially their Zinfandel!
Hidden gem! We love this place and it’s fantastic for the whole family, friends day out, wine tour, etc. Their set up is unique and offers a really nice experience for all different types of groups. The gewürztraminer is hands down the best in Sonoma. We love Zeynep and Marina!!
Nora had the best wine tour!!!! It was gorgeous, she was so knowledgeable and had us tasting the whole time! The ride around is the best part with a beautiful lunch picnic set up in the vineyard. Definitely cannot wait to come back and see Nora again.
Went to see lykke at the "Gun Bun", was charged an additional $10 cash only to park about a quarter mile away from the venue. There were golpher holes on the hill where the seating was for the show that caused a twisted ankle in our party. The ladies at the donkey bar couldn't confidently tell us if any of the wines were animal product free. There was no beer to be had. The concert was great but there are a few feedback items that need to be addressed.
Great wine with great people.
The tasting manager chased us down to make us pay when we had Comp tastings - she was very rude - we will not return to this winery ever again
Great wines and property! Was a lovely last visit on our trip to Sonoma and Napa.
We did the tour which was great and done by a relative which made the tour even more interesting with his insider stories and secrets. I'm not sure the tour was worth $50 but it was interesting and great to see a property and hear the history, plus u get a cute take home cup. The wines were phenomenal and our fav from the weekend. The property is great for wine tasting and cheap! Only downside...no outside food. Highly recommend and we will come here everytime we visit!
Great for pups!
Great atmosphere and very friendly people. Not pretentious. Some really great views of the property.
Big outdoor patio for the tasting. My wife and I rented bikes in Sonoma and this one of the recommended wineries on the bike tour. The wine was delicious and the atmosphere was very relaxing.
Gun-lock Bun-shoe. Opt for the cave/tunnel tour and if possible ask for Cat. The property here is amazing. This was the best tour and wine experience we had in Nappa/Sonoma. 2014 reserve is definitely something to pick up if you like your red wine. Also pick up a wine pourer from the gift shop and start a collection.
The GunBun underground tour was fantastic! Gary really knew his history and was a great group leader. We bought a bottle of temparanillo and are looking forward to enjoying it at home.
Pick up a bottle and sit out on the picnic tables to really enjoy this place! Spectacular views and tasty wine in a historic setting. Feels like France.
Yucky— not a fan of these wines! The service was good but the wines were not... very expensive for the quality!
Carol and Sylvia were so inviting. We loved the experience and even got to tour the wine cave.
Great wines. 3rd generation family owned. Great people. Beautiful grounds!
We enjoyed the property and hospitality. The wines were tastey but a little overpriced. We took advantage of a specail that was offered. Six bottles of wine shipped for $10.00. Great deal! Right? We had purchased several items during our visit and I didn't really scrutinize the bill. Once we had departed, I did look close at the bill and discovered that we were charged $52.00 for shipping the wine. I've called 2 times and never had any human answer the phone and requested a return call. NOTHING. So, if you go to GunBun, look at your bill very closely because you might be overcharged. I finally received a response and the winery has more than corrected the error in the billing. I really appreciate that gesture and remedy to this transaction. My wife and I look forward the delivery of our wine. Thank you Gun Bun.
If you zoom in on the picture, there's a tiny spider on the top left side on the glass. We stood for 10 min after checking in but no one served us. After I told one of the servers about the spider she just took it away and never showed up. I was very disappointed about this place. I had high expectations because I really like Gewurtztraminer. It was the first winery visit today and their ignorance ruined my day.
Very cool off the beaten path choice for "wine adventure enthusiasts". Was referred to this winery by a rep at Cline. They have a cave tasting room and lots of outdoor space to enjoy a bottle of wine outside and enjoy the amazing weather. I highly recommend taking the hiking trail up the hill to one of their picnic tables and having a couple of bottles of wine there if you want a more exclusive experience.
The excursion around the the winery is very informative about the history and family of Gundlach Bundschu. Best part was the tour was conducted by a member of the family, Robby Bundschu. He is very easy going and a great tour guide.
Great wine and great service!!
I was so excited to go here! The wine was really good but we were treated horribly. The server never came to check on us even though I tried to wave her over 4 different times and we went from wanting to buy wine to not wanting anything.
Good place to have Samoa Vine and Olives
Great setting, friendly and knowledgeable staff with great wines.
Great place!!!!
Great service. Beautiful winery. If you are not a member it is $40 for a tasting.
Beautiful winery nestled up against a beautiful lake! Murray was an excellent host and led us through a really fun tasting. The outdoor space was beautiful, and we felt right at home. Thanks, Murray!
(Translated) Top wines. Cult. (Original) Spitzenweine. Kult.
The wine itself is fantastic. The whites weren’t sweet and the reds weren’t too dry. I did the courtyard tasting. I think the prices may be a smidge too high, considering the service was kind of iffy for us and the pours were a bit light. Our waitress was less than enthusiastic about the whole thing and also left on her lunch without saying anything. The rest of the staff seemed to know that she went on lunch, but nobody asked us if we needed anything. Teamwork makes the dream work, folks. The grounds were beautiful though. I did really like the vibe of the place and the decor. I would recommend the courtyard tasting, just don’t expect it to be anything educational/exciting.
Disappointing. The wine was average to bleh, and we spent $20 on a “cheese plate” that We had to cut and serve ourselves. It was a box of too expensive crackers and a block of pretty good cheese.
Great wine and really friendly and knowledgeable servers.
What a great place to come and enjoy some of the best wines in the area. The is a very family friendly vineyard. With all the different areas of the property you have the chance to enjoy your own little piece of the GunBun experience. Always friendly staff, with some snacks like cheese, meats, crackers, even apple juice for the little ones. They make everyone feel comfortable for the experience that you are looking for. A definite must in the Sonoma area.
Was questioned if we had reservations and then quoted the pricing for the wines. If you want a rude, un-welcoming experience then this is your winery. We left, never to return as there are too many wonderful wineries to visit like Cline!! Very disappointed!!
Great historical winery, rich in history (ask about the gunbun clones both red and white interesting history for wine enthusiasts) A must visit when here
Nancy is such a sweetheart! What an experience!! Had so much fun!
Gatsby party
(Translated) Nice visit of the places a little surprised of the tariff $ 40 with the tasting. My French puck is not the taste of the day of the country, there will be no comment on the wine. (Original) Belle visite des lieux un peu surpris du tarif 40$ avec la dégustation. Mon palet Français n'étant pas au gout du jour du pays , il n'y aura pas de commentaire sur le vin.
Unfortunately, not as great as it used to be...
Was there as a party of 2 on a Friday around 3pm. We did a tasting experience so 4 wines. The tasting is outside and it was very busy. About 3-4 larger groups (8-10 people) and a handful of smaller (2-3 people) groups when we arrived. Our server seemed overwhelmed. Most of these tasting they fill your glass one at a time then come back with the next wine in about 10-15 minutes. Our server took a bit longer in between but did pour a bit more generously (maybe to make up for the long wait times). The wines were super good and the grounds were so beautiful. However, I'd consider what day & time you go when making the reservation. You might be sitting with an empty glass for a bit!
We took the tour and highly recommend Cat as the tour driver! Anyone tasting wine in Sonoma needs to take Cat's tour BEFORE other wine tastings.
had a wonderful taste of wines. beautiful place to visit.
From the photo, you will see that our view was lovely. Carol, our wine host, was wonderful, and we enjoyed learning about the label and the family. The tasting was good. Here’s why one star. After an hour of enjoying the story and the place, we stopped in the gift shop. We wanted to continue our support with a gift shop purchase. My daughter and I both chose something to buy only to be told we couldn’t purchase one of our items because we were not members. So I paid your tasting fee, enjoyed your wine, but I’m not worthy to buy a hat? Poor job, BunGun. I’ll not return and let everyone know how you treat customers.
This is a beautiful vineyard with lovely outdoor seating. Their front terrace is however only for wine tastings, which you will need a reservation for. This is by far the most charming of the vineyards in close proximity.
(Translated) I do not recommend tasting. For $ 20, you will not even have the equivalent of a drink, and this, with a bad service (no or almost no presentation of wines, or history of the house). All in a shopping center atmosphere.
My first experience with a winery in Sonoma and it was fantastic! Gun Bun was a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint. Every wine we tasted from their Gewurtztraminer to their Cabernet Franc was solid and balanced. Our wine tasting host, Misty, was the absolute perfect person for our experience. Her personality was full of life and wisdom and she had answers to all of our questions. She spent 3 hours with us! If you are looking for a great experience with wonderful wines, this is a great place to go. And you will take some wine home, or in my case, have it shipped home! ????
Great winery!
I'm a wine simpleton, but our guide, Kat, made it a really fun and informative experience for me.
I love Gundlach Bundschu and I know how to pronounce it! LOL Delicious wine. Lovely employees. Beautiful view. Fabulous setting.
Family owned winery with lots of character and most importantly, great wine! Several outdoor and indoor spaces with wine tasting and lots of fun events happening.
Good people. Good wine. Great ambiance. Good food. A lovely experience!
Awesome seating area and walking areas - tasting inside was great and they have a lot of gear available to purchase - you should pay the small premium to get their top shelf glass at the end as well.
Beautiful property. Wines are mediocre at best, however.
Great tasting, generous, informative staff
Great wine. Great tour. Great fun. Go enjoy it if you get the chance.
This is by far my favorite winery. The atmosphere is very relaxed. Some wineries are very snobby. This winery is all about relaxing and enjoying the scenery and the bonus is some of the best wine made. Multiple area to enjoy your wine so you never feel crowded..which is VERY important nowadays!
Remembering old friends and great times! August will be our 24th anniversary!
Gary was perfect for our 1st stop in Sonoma. The history is amazing.
Delicious wine, beautiful property, and dog friendly!
Good wines in a laid back setting. Take the cave tour and learn not just about the winery's history, but about winemaking...and just about anything else you ask about! Spring is beautiful...which is February believe it or not.
