We came for the first time last weekend. We are big red wine fans and found several that we enjoyed. The food was great and the staff was awesome. We will definitely be back. Just wish they had a club to join!!
A throw back to a simple time.
Nice grounds, solid wine, great service, excellent garlic fries.
My boyfriend and I went here just after our longest walk in the zoo. Perfect way to relax! There weren't a lot of people when we went around 3pm so parking was really for us. $16 for 5 wine tasting selections! Debby/Debbie was very kind - I'm not really knowledgeable about wines yet but when I mentioned I like it sweet, she chose the all 5 for me. First one I tried was the Oro Di Bernardo sparkling wine. I'm not a fan of carbonated drinks so I didn't like it much. Although drinking it with the complimentary chocolate made it so much better. I think the second one was the BW Sangria but I'm not sure. 3rd was Vincenzo Rosado which I really loved and I even had to buy one for my family. 4th - Red Sangria and 5th was Chocolate Bar Port. I believe it had 18% alcohol. I was going to drink my BF's 5th drink although one sip of the Chocolate Bar Port was enough to make my whole world spin! I would definitely go back here if we were to pass by it again. I need to get more of the complimentary chocolates! I bought one can but it wasn't enough!
Fresh and delicious food. Cozy atmosphere!
Good wine. Friendly folks. Great atmosphere.
I'm a beer drinker and not a wine drinker. However, they have enough selection that make it enjoyable for me to hang out with my bf. Food is also great here which kinda surprised me. Awesome local place to chill for a weekend!
Great atmosphere, nice shops, and easy parking. (And amazing wine, of course.)
Amazing place. Love it
Love, love this place. Amazing friendly people, good food and great wine. I have gone to other wineries.......this is the BEST!
Love this place. Great wine, food and ambience. Just reopened so hours are limited and reservations are a must. So glad they've reopened!
Great fun! Not what I was expecting. Way better! Great wine and a nice relaxed atmosphere! What is better than a chocolate pairing with wine!
Very nice place, wine selection is excellent! Spent the day drinking wine, eating snacks and with family. Best day in a while.....
This is a cute place to go have some food and wine. The grounds are lovely. The wines are very nice. There are shops scattered around selling fun things. I've visited for events and for small meals with friends and have always had a nice time.
Lovely place, wine and food were delicious.
Awesome dinner and wines. Unique flavors that take Italian to new level. Mulled wine was prrfect... not too sweet. GSM with dinner,, but then the Fratelli ... complex, smooth. Great wine. And the vanilla gelato with olive oil and basil...perfect with the Fratelli.
Very nice, shabby chic type of feel. Everyone is very friendly and I love the fresh roasted coffee.
????
Beautiful Sunday afternoon wine jazz outing. Great food, wine tasting and live jazz in a wonderful setting atmosphere. Beautiful people of all ages and ethnicity having a wonderful time.
Mother's Day Craft Fair this weekend (May 8 & 9). So many great vendors located in a beautifully rustic winery setting, along with several winery shops. Wonderful venue with great employees!
The 3 salad choices are……eh. Purchased one overpriced $18 iceberg lettuce that had maybe 1tsp of the “vinaigrette” and who knows where the addl toppings were? Walked back to hostess area because no one checked on us and received 2Tbs of oil and a splash of balsamic? Now I have a tasteless oil salad!!! Horrible food. Everyone else at the table got pizza and we’re all unimpressive
A wonderful, charming winery that resembles a small town center. The are shops and restaurants here with a wide variety of goods. This is a real diamond in the rough.
(Translated) Simple and fantastic place at the same time, where you spend a pleasant afternoon both with family, couples, or friends, the good comfortable and the house salad along with the deliciously sharable pizza, the small corners of this vineyard remind you of a magical afternoon from Italy, visit it is beautiful and welcoming the customer service is also good. I recommend you go on a hot afternoon so that you can enjoy a good glass of wine more.
Lovely location in the heart of San Diego. Decent prices for a winery and very friendly service. They also are doing a great job with COVID safety!
The wine here is amazing. Try the latest 2018 Syrah and prepare to get blown away. For a high-value wine and I consider value=taste/price the Burgundy is a terrific table wine. They often have a Sangria on tap. There are shops to visit. The sweet shoppe offers free pairings with your tasting. The restaurant is amazing, try a charcuterie, it will amaze you, not only an awesome presentation but also a guaranteed perfect pairing with your wine. They also have an award winning coffee roaster here. I could go on and on. The atmosphere is incredible with it's relics dating back to the century before last, and the English garden with its lush greenery and flowers can set the background for photos that will be worthy of your next christmas cards. They have plenty of outdoor tables so chances are you'll be able to get your reservation! There's so much that this hidden little gem offers, but the best part, and first and foremost is the wine is primo!
Great little place
very family friendly
Cool little winery. A little village with shops and a restaurant.
The Bernardo Winery is like a small village. They have a bakery, restaurant, sweet shop, and a winery. We were here on a rainy day so we were enjoying our tasting out on the patio watching the rain. The wine was good and I ended up buying several before leaving. I especially liked the Merlot, Zinfandel, and reserve port. Plenty of parking. About a 30 minute drive from San Diego.
Great atmosphere and wine - great place for couples, the live music on Sunday's is a good time
Really pretty place and a great way to spend a few hours enjoying wine good food and sunshine
Enjoyed the Rancho Bernardo Historical Society museum on the winery grounds near south entrance. Fun climbing up into the mud wagon (similar to a stagecoach) for photo opportunity.
Great food ambiance and perfect day for brunch! Loved bottomless Guava, Orange, mimosas! Tried Pizza , Italian Fritatta and Ranch Skilket withbpaoched eggs. Parm Friws were perfect! Close to walking ships and beautiful plants and greenery.
WONDERFUL place to eat & atmosphere! Five stars!!
We were visiting family from out of state and stopped at the bernardo winery for lunch and a wine tasting. The food was incredible and we had an opportunity to watch the executive chef preparing the wood fired pizzas. He was so much fun to chat with and obviously very passionate about food. We had our four year old with us and it was a good family atmosphere. Overall a great experience, we will be back
So glad to be able to be here on opening Sunday! Wine flights and amazing Italian fare! Perfect weather and excellent service as usual.
Lovely jazz performance on a Sunday afternoon, with decent white wine and a naturally delightful SoCal outdoor ambiance.
COVID-19 total care. Wonderful wine specials to-go. Great staff.
A beautiful and very californian wedding venue, a must check out if you are planning your wedding in the area.
This is the place to go and relax and wine a little! Friday and Saturday nights from Spring to Fall you can enjoy live music on the weekends. There is so much there from fine dining to the many merchants with the cutest little shops. Cheers!
The wine was only ok, but the service was outstanding. It's a cool funky spot.
Shops shops and restaurants are overpriced and pretentious. The only good thing the winery has to offer is the museum.
Great place to people watch! Love all the shops, especially the purse store and dress shop! Wonderful quiche at the sandwich shop. Going to new Italian restaurant this week..
Perfect atmosphere and wine
Really enjoyed visiting. Nice setting. Shops. You can take your glass while wondering around.
Beautiful location, cute little shops and can walk around with a glass of wine!
One of the best experiences, the staff is amazing ???? ???? kind helpful and with smiles on their faces. The food was pretty good their wine selection is great, definitely will go back
You will be pleasantly surprised with Bernardo Winery. It is the oldest winery in southern California and has been in operation since 1889. There's a museum, retail shops, food, hair salon a flower shop and can help you plan an event such as a wedding, Bridal Showers...It's a really cool laid back place to visit. They have farmers market, pottery and a dance studio. A ton of antiques, including a jewerly shop.On Sundays they play jazz from 1 to 6pm. Every time I go there I fine something new. Check it out.
It's a beauty, awesome!
(Translated) The view is great there is too much nature and the food is great (Original) La vista es genial hay demasiada naturaleza y la comida es genial
My wife and I celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary at rancho Bernardo winery great atmosphere great food and then made a wonderful evening for us totally enjoyed it I will be back
So festive and fun!!
Such a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The wine is tasty and they know their stuff.
It’s a delightful setting and their wine tastings are generous and lovely. Didn’t have time to explore all their shops- perhaps another time.
Absolutely wonderful. Super wonderful staff and all kinds of Christmas solutions !
Such a lovely place!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! If you have not checked out this winery for an event, you're missing out. It's got everything you'd look for in a special, boutique, event venue. It's historic while having charm, elegance, numerous amenities and all for a price that's extremely reasonable! There are several places out doors to hose your event or maybe consider having an intimate event in their barrel room! Yes, this is a full functioning winery with a barrel room, wine press, etc... The best part about this place is everyone there is so friendly and is committed to making sure each guest enjoys their experience. I highly recommend this winery for a wine tastings and a tour of their event facilities.
It was beautiful
Tucked away behind a quiet neighborhood near a golf course.. it is a true hidden gem. Wine tasting experience was superb even during the COVID season. Thank uou "Debbie" for the amazing hospitality!
Lovely place to visit with out of town guests and pottery making fans. Some day will have to try the wine!
Beautiful place. Live music , good wine and outdoor setting makes it a great experience overall. Definitely a hidden gem
Awesome selections of wines. 5 star from my side.
What a cute little off the beaten path spot. I could just imagine what this was like 100 years ago. The locale is like a little village from old western times, the food is awesome, but unfortunately, the wines are a little tough. But a perfectly relaxing afternoon with perfect weather. It just doesn’t get any better. For Rancho Bernardo.
Amazing, 100+ year old winery. There are shops, salon, restaurant, coffee shop, etc. The food is great and wine tasting even better. So easy to get to. You need to come.
Beyond amenable; my experience was exemplary. First off, the menu was atypical & intriguing. Next, our selections were not only enticing to our eyes, but then delicious to our pallettes, having been prepared by the talented & experienced executive chef Yakub. Lastly, & most significant IMHO, our waiter was "on it" in terms of anticipation & attentativeness; we did not want for anything. BW is now added to my short list of "special/go to" restaurants for impressing my guests or simply spoiling myself. Well done Bernardo Winery, well done.
Great experience, we loved it
A definate must see! They pair wine with chocolate! Neat little stores on the property, a coffee shop and a kitchen! Worth the stop!
Food is good and fresh. Great location.. Friendly staff. Prices higher than average for lunch. .
Friday’s farmers Market is a must the Fish ???? Tacos ???? are Delish - The place is very relaxing and the wine ???? is good - people are super friendly.
Great place for lunch, wine, and coffee. Coffee comes from Manzanita Roasting, so is amazing. Terrific service and cool atmosphere.
Lovely place! The Merlot is really good. The only thing is that this place is pricey.
Always a great meal ❤️
Excellent food...dining for lunch under the olive trees.
The winery is such a beautiful space to be in. There is a wide variety of shops on the ground, but it also serves as an artist colony. Pop in for a sampling at the tasting room. And if you get the opportunity to do a cellar dinner, please sign up. It's a stunning and beautiful evening.
Great
Nice wines with helpful staff. Loved the chocolate wine pairing which is a brilliant way to enjoy the experience.
Awesome place to chill with some wine and great food
Food was delicious and the staff so friendly. I will definitely bring many friends.
Great place to relax with good food and wine!
First time was this past Friday and loved every part of it. The vendors, the wine, and the addition of the Food trucks was well mixed.
Super cute wine village with a tasting room, restaurant, and shops (sweets, beauty products, coffee, and more). Beautifully designed and decorated with strong lights, succulents, and accessories. Was looking for vineyards close to downtown San Diego and this area was perfect can easily Lyft there approx 30 min without traffic. Tasting room has a large covered patio with lots of seating and restaurant has a matching one, there’s also benches and more seating throughout. A bit hidden as you drive through the canyon and a residential area with lucky owners to be steps away from this space.
Friday Market Good.
Beautiful winery with average wine. Fun events hosted there regularly. Friendly staff.
Wonderful place! Beautiful scenery and the staff is awesome! Linda in the tasting room was super friendly and helpful. You also get to sample a piece of chocolate with each glass in the sweet shop. The atmosphere in general brings on nothing but good vibes! Definitely worth the visit!
Horrible Merlot, they changed their Cheese plates, won't go back after being a loyal customer for 9 years. Turned from a San Diego icon to the worst winery. The vinegar wine they have there these days needs to be used for cooking at best. Not a single red wine that is consumable.
Beautiful place. Live music , good wine and outdoor setting makes it a great experience overall. Definitely a hidden gem
Great local find
Great pace to visit
We were pleasantly surprised at how much the wine has improved over the past 5 years. Candidly, it used to be terrible, and now there are some really nice wines - comparable to Temecula. The overall atmosphere, people and experience are very good. Location is very convenient. Great for a special event, and really great Friday "happy hour" activities in the summer (called Art Walk). If you have not visited, I highly recommend a trip to the winery!
Had the Parmesean fries and a flight. Great service and food! Grounds were pretty and well kept. There are a few nice shops to enjoy.
Beautiful settings looks like a small village with several shops, light eating spot, event space nice tasting room. Very welcoming family run winery. You could spend hours here just relaxing.
Really enjoying this new find. Good vino to be paired with good chocolate. Lots of independent shops to wonder through. Very charming.
Awesome ambience
The Winery has 2 restaurants and a coffee house. The food is excellent but very pricey at "The Kitchen". There are many choices but unfortunately no gluten free choices. Also in the past I have had my favorites but they are gone now. I was disappointed that their Ceasars salad with salmon is no longer on the menu. The White balsamic vinegarette is very spicy. It is served with their modified Ceasars salad. They have panni, i had the salmon one...very yummy. My friends opted for panni without the bread. The waiter was kind and put the panni contents on lettuce for them. That was very nice of him. They do have Gelato for dessert...chocolate..YUM. My friend who has dairy restrictions got to have a lemon, rosemary sorbet. That was perfect for her.
Amazing experience!! Great food, wine and service!
Charming and rustic. The paths are a bit rough. We came just after the farmer's market ended, so the place was a bit disorganized. There are several different shops. Suit different tastes. The food at the Kitchen was quite good. You could take it to the wine tasting room to have with the wine. The selections were pretty good, and generous. Even when busy, the service was good. They have two restroom areas, either outdoor tub wash basins. Kinda cute.
We were there for Sunday brunch. The stores are kind of nice to poke around in, but the brunch was an impressive. The gelato shop was outstanding. A very short menu which is usually a good thing, but went too far. There were only four food items total on the menu. Had to look to find the sausage in the Ranch Skillet, it was pretty much all potatoes. The Pizza Rustica is egg quiche (I don't know how they get pizza out of that). Crazy-large potion, tasted bland. You will get tired of it before you're halfway through. The mandate of "No substitutions, you must enjoy our food the way we want you to" is a bit high-handed. The server was nice, but overworked and clueless about the wine menu. The manager stopped by to say "Hi", but we really didn't see him doing anything to help out.
Love this place!
Great selection and very chilled environment.
This is a very unique dining experience in San Diego. The winery is a total happening in it's own right and one must see to believe. Today, we experienced a non day meal at "The Kitchen" and it was excellent. I may not be able to pronounce the name of my appetizer, which was outstanding, but the tomato bisque soup was totally pleasing. I topped this off with the BW salad and a salmon skewer which was a meal in itself. I totally enjoyed this unique dining experience!
Awesome venue!! Band, music Sunday night 2-5pm
Definitely one of the better Covid-19 experiences we have had. Food was excellent, we had chicken pesto pizza, antipasto meat platter, and lemon cookie strawberry ice cream sandwich. Great wines and decent beer. Staff was excellent. I would recommend spending an afternoon here.
Special setting, excellent food, wine and service for my wife's birthday celebration !
What a fun little day trip. We were staying in San Diego and wanted to get out into the country side. Unfortunately the sprawl of housing developments has reached this far but the Bernardo Winery is a little oasis of old times. Cute little buildings, shops, wine tasting room, artists galleries and a collection of old relics dot the property with its little quint paths. Must be a great romantic place to have a wedding. We had lunch at The Kitchen which was excellent. There are a few other wineries in the area so you can fill your afternoon tasting wines.
Fantastic! Great ambiance and great service with great food & drink. Bernardo Winery is deserving of the highest recognition for their operational excellence during COVID-19. This small business has made your safety their paramount focus which in turn has created a customer experience that is seamless, stress-free, and simply delightful. I can’t give them enough kudos for their attention to customer safety and service. We haven’t done much at all during this pandemic, so some friends shared that Bernardo Winery was an incredibly safe and enjoyable escape. With that, I’d like to reiterate that here for all of you. Make reservations online and soon enough you’ll be enjoying this awesome place yourself (kid-friendly too). Thanks again for your great service, Deborah and the staff at Bernardo Winery and Village.
BEWARE. got ripped off! Ordered 2, $20 flights, a $16 salad and a $14 tiny pizza. They charged my card $88! Visited on our anniversary, hoping to have a good experience. Sandy, our wine server was SUPER LIGHT handed on the flights. Barely 2 mouthfuls per glass. What a rip off! It was our 3rd visit in 2 years, and our last..we will not be returning and informing anyone who asks to boycott. There's a ton of other decent wineries to choose from.
A beautiful day in the neighborhood! I visited the Rancho Bernardo Winery yesterday for the first time and WOW! Fantastic setting, beautiful scenery, excellent wine and food. The service was impeccable! Ronni and the rest of the staff made us feel special and well taken care of. The unique shops, especially the sweet shop that paired each of our wine selections with sinfully delicious chocolates, made this first weekend of SPRING one for the memory books!
Excellent food...dining for lunch under the olive trees.
Just wonderful. Incredible food and atmosphere
Such a beautiful environment. From the moment you walk in theres a fun jungle feel, lots of places to walk and see, shops, good coffee and the food and wine, delicious. Spend a few hours here.
Great fall festival.
Yesterday, I went to Bernardo Winery ! The Rancho Bernardo winery is not equipped to handle customers during the coronavirus pandemic. They do not wipe any tables or chairs down and groups of people are walking through the winery and in the areas with tables and chairs with no face masks. Since the winery is a small area people are standing or walking right next to you. When we asked the servers about the rule for masks at the winery, they said it's posted and they are just too busy pouring wine to ask patrons to comply with the rules.
Easy parking, good wine, beautiful place, nice place to take your parents.
A real gem.
Mainly for an older crowd but still fun and a good time. Wine is just ok, but still fun!
Fun place but it was $7 for 2 small diet cokes. Shops are fun.
Gorgeous area. Well maintained. The craft fair today was amazing as always. We enjoy wandering the booths and being out again. Will definitely be back. Good wine and great atmosphere! Highly recommend.
If I was only rating the wine it would be one star. However, the atmosphere was really nice and the food was good, staff was super friendly... but this place is a WINERY and the wine is just not good.
It is a wonderful place to visit tasting wine!
Beautiful event location...rustic...wineries...good food
This place is wonderful and there are so many things to do here. My wife and I did the wine tasting and although the wine was great the cheese plate was the best thing there. The berries were very fresh and full of flavor. It was the perfect pairing with the wine. There are tons of shops and a really good chocolate store on the grounds. They also have an amazing place for weddings, it is an outdoor barn area. I highly recommend coming out to the grounds and spending an afternoon.
We loved the atmosphere. The kids enjoyed the food while the adults had fun wine testing. The 3 cheese pizza was awesome as well as the parmesan chips.
Fun evening. Lots of food choices and shops to look in.
Awesome place to visit.Hope they bring back the 5 glasses of wine with 5 chocolated for$16.Love love
An experience. Plan to spend a few hours on the property tasting wine and chocolate. Buy a bottle of your favorite wine, and bring it to the restaurant (no corkage fee for Bernardo wines!). Every group of friends and relatives I've taken here has vowed to return. There are also other great craft businesses on site (coffee, handbags, home decor, flowers, and salon). Bonus: this is a beautiful place for photos.
This is the cutest place I have ever been to. Not only is the wine amazing, but they have little shops around the winery that you can look in while you’re drinking.
????
This sweet little rustic town like winery was amazing. Such delicious wine and food with lots of interesting spots. Dont forget to get some chocolate to pair with that wine. Just make sure to make a reservation.
Very nice .Hidden getaway in the middle of town. Not just a winery.
Fabulous place to Relax! Love the ambiance! Enjoyed a glass of Orange Moscato!...Great vibe!
What a Wonderful place to visit on the weekend in San Diego.
Bernardo Winery is amazing any time of year, but it becomes magical at Christmas with beautiful lights, trees, horse-drawn carriage rides, mulled wine, and even strolling carollers. Visit in summer for live music and a stroll through the shops. There's something for everyone!
The sangria is a awesome way to finish off a tasting. Go the the olive oil tasting the lime is the best
Nice
Fine place for family outings. Variaty of shops and offers.
Great place for crapes pancakes
Very good winery, enjoyabe, excellent staff.
They are missing a 6th star. Music, wine, food and staff are all of great INTEGRITY. The music today is fantastic.
I celebrated my birthday at Bernardo Winery and it was magical!!! Everything about it was perfect and smooth. We took a 25 minuets walk through the winery and tasted 5 different kinds of local wines. The cheese platter was perfect for us. The staff was very kind and flexible and our privet party area was Incredible!! I decorated my tables and we played frisbee while the sun went down. Highly recommended for birthdays/gathering events :)
Very relaxing time. We purchased the 5 wine sampler. Enjoyed sipping each sample and casually walking to sweet shop for chocolate pairing. Walked around the vineyards and saw a beehive, windmill, and set up for a wedding. Eating at the cafe was pleasurable, great service, cozy table outside in a corner. Peaceful day.
Winery grounds have been converted into a quasi attraction with boutique shops, restaurants, &, of course, the working winery. Of greater interest is the Rancho Bernardo Historical Society's Museum, with many interesting displays & exhibits about this upscale area, it's remarkable growth, & history.
Such a beautiful spot for a wedding! I'm the owner of Tayler Ashley Photography and I had the pleasure of shooting here. The staff is wonderful and the location is perfect. Beautiful vineyards and a super private spot for ceremony + reception. The barn is amazing!
Very pretty winery. We came here for the Friday Farmers Market and it did not disappoint. Such lovely vendors and little shops on site! Made me feel like I was back in Europe with all the people sitting outside drinking coffee and eating outside the shops.
The grounds are lovely. Several shops to explore, some food, plenty of parking and outdoor seating. Did not try the wine.
One of our favourite wineries! Atmosphere is wonderful wines are very good and their bruschetta and Margherita Pizza are excellent!
(Translated) Nice place to eat there, or to take away, its rustic style enchants the eye ... (Original) Lindo lugar para comer ahí, o para llevar, su estilo rústico encanta a la vista...
Great wine, good food.
Beautiful location and fun area to walk around, but couldn't find any wine that any of my party really enjoyed
It was great miss the music but great otherwise!
Great atmosphere, even better wine! Fun shops and family friendly. Live music on Sundays. A true treasure of Rancho Bernardo.
This place was really cool, had an amazing Cabernet that was very bold, oaked, and spicy. Then have a dessert Riesling unlike anything I've ever tasted before. Only gets 4 stars because all their wines are a big expensive.
The Bernardo Winery is a delightful place to visit for a relaxing afternoon or dinner out. It is located in Rancho Bernardo and has a small vineyard with historical old buildings and wonderful lush landscaping. Farm antiques of days of old are located throughout. There are stores and restaurants and in the Spring on Mother's Day and also in October the winery hosts a large arts and crafts fair including a outdoor seating and a variety of food vendors. A great place to check out.
Visited from Utah, great wine and my wife loved the little shops.
Delicious lunch, wonderful setting and excellent customer care!!
very beautiful! i have great memories here
Excellent relaxing winery. Mellow atmosphere ,great decor, tasty wine options. Small cute shops and restaurant options as well. Many sunny afternoons spent here. Always a good time.
This place is an absolute treasure, my wife found it by accident while driving by it and boy am I glad she did! If you want to go and get lost in a rustic dream far from the city noise, this is it. Their kitchen is top notch, our food was delicious - wasn't too happy about the wine but their bottomless mimosas are fire! Make sure to book a table in advance cause they more than likely won't take walk ins. Also walk around a little and soak the experience in, it's like a whole different world :) Moving forward they have 2 more regulars.
Great winery with darling shops! Loved the atmosphere and old world charm.
Most fun we have had wine tasting in a long time. Thanks Rossi and the staff.
Wonderful place! Beautiful scenery and the staff is awesome! Linda in the tasting room was super friendly and helpful. You also get to sample a piece of chocolate with each glass in the sweet shop. The atmosphere in general brings on nothing but good vibes! Definitely worth the visit!
Great for kids to explore outside while parents drink delicious wine
The staff was very nice. The food was excellent and the wine was delicious! A great alternative to driving to Temecula if you only have a few hours. Great way to spend the afternoon.
We visited the Bernardo Winery for an Arts & Craft fair. I was charmed by the environment and would like to return when it is a bit less crowded. I particularly enjoyed the museum and the cheese plate.
I would love to tell you about the wine but when we tried to taste, it didn't happen. The wine tasting area was very crowded even though the village area around it was not. The management of the tasting room is quite flawed. We were pushed and shoved out of the way after waiting in line. When we mentioned this to the staff later in the day they just shrugged and still no wine offered. The village part of this is quite pretty with shops and friendly staff. The restaurant is closed with no time for reopening. This could be a great experience but I would say for now, take a pass.
If there is a voice level issue- please approach the party before kicking them out. You can KINDLY ask to keep voice level down, especially if you see that it is because everyone is enjoying themselves in a wholesome manner. I did not appreciate the approach and aggressiveness my friends and family experienced by the owner. It is highly disappointing to have experienced more hospitality from the workers than the very owner Ross. I have never attended a place where I felt ambushed and targeted. It was a very dehumanizing experience and I DO NOT recommend this winery.
Great times! Great wine! Nice staff
Nice!
We love this place!! Had a nice early dinner and a couple bottles of wine with friends. Very nice staff, food was great, and the grounds are really beautiful. We've been here lots of times, and will be back again soon.
Really lovely place with very nice staff. We got a charcuterie board and a wine flight. The pours are generous so I would go for that over ordering by the glass!
Took my daughter for her 21st birthday. We had a great time ,people there are so nice and the wine is great . This place is a must .
Visited on a Monday, a day when most of their shops were closed. However, the tasting room and sweet shop for chocolate pairings was practically empty and easily accessable. Great experience with friendly staff.
I had the chance to visit Bernardo winery on a beautiful Sunday. To be honest it was a bit weird to be looking for a winery in the middle of a urban community. Once there, there was ample parking and signs that guide you throughout the winery. First, you can see antiques (eclectic antiques) that we used for their production of wine in the past, old boots and antique looking art pieces. Once in the middle, there’s the restaurant and wine shop. There’s limited tables all over, often there’s 2 or 3 Set of people who sit on the same tables because there isn’t enough tables/ chairs. The menu is limited but they have a nice variety of wines. There was a live performance and the ambiance was great! As you sipped your wine and listened to the performance you could go visit around. There are shops but most of them were closed. There’s a shop that will pair your wine with a little piece of chocolate..just bring in your glass. The winery itself was dried and maybe 8-10 plants were present. On your way out you can buy a bottle or two of your favourite wine of the winery. I had a lovely time there but I would not go back for a second time.
I was super impressed with the Bernardo winery ????.... this place is so relaxing and peaceful... the scenery was amazing.... the wine tasting is reasonably priced and everyone is so welcoming.... this place is great for lunch dates or first dates.... highly recommended!!!!!
Beautiful place
Beautiful place with a rustic look and wonderful plants everywhere. Knowledgeable and helpful staff, delicious wine, yummy pizza and coffee. Five of the six different wines we tasted were terrific! It was a magical afternoon. Great winery for events. Will be back when we're in the area!
This place is beautiful, very relaxing and the staff is helpful and awesome.
Beautiful location, where one can get a bottle of wine and a cheese tray from Vs and enjoy the gardens! Oh and the coffee shop gets fresh roasted coffee from the Speciality Roaster on site!
Enchanting place!
Amazing place. Thank u Rizzo fam ❤
The Harvest & Gorgonzola pizza was covered with butternut squash and gorgonzola deliciousness. The Grenache 2018 was the perfect pairing. Don't miss the new patio heaters and friendly waitstaff. A delightful Thursday evening @ the Bernardo Winery.
Simply the best! Not only do they have delicious wines (reds AND whites) but they have the most friendly staff, amazing food at their restaurant, boutiques you can shop at while you drink and just an amazing atmosphere to enjoy yourself. Highly recommend.
The wine is delicious! The atmosphere is amazing! And the craft fair was fun! We are looking forward to coming to the Friday farmers market!
Great little winery with a spectacular selection of wines for everyone. Great environment and fantastic food. Brought my wife here for our anniversary and she doesn't even like wine and she loved it. Will definitely be back and would recommend to friends and family
Love this place Great service super wine good value fun way to spend day
Well worth the drive. Great wines, good food, increadable atmosphere and views.
Made necklaces at icarus great time and lunchbatvrhw kitchen. Delicious.
Looked like a cool place to go. My family went to take photos with Santa unfortunately they closed the Santa pictures right as we got there. We then had no reason to stay in the lines to have a drink. We may try to go again another time for a different event.
Old world charm, friendly staff, great food and wine!
LOVE this winery!!!! It is my home away from home!
Today's art faire, super fun!
Great place to drink wine and walk around. Shops are great also. Beautiful scenery.
Beautiful venue with a small restaurant on site along with many little shops. The history of the winery is interesting to learn and adds to the overall ambiance and character.
Great atmosphere and wine
Always a great time.
Festive and relaxing with live music!
Went to their Farmers Market.....very nice
Bernardo Winery is an amazing little secret nestled in the hills northeast of San Diego. This is more than a winery, but also a small arts and crafts community. Wine tasting is $20 per person for five wines. I went on the walking tour and learned that this is California's oldest winery in continuous operation. They have plenty of red wines made right here, plus sourced white wines from the coastal wineries. I recommend getting the cheese plate, purchasing a bottle, and then going for a walk around the villa to work off the wonderful wine buzz. If you enjoy photography, there are plenty of photo opportunities with the 120-year old facilities and large number of flowers. This is my favorite place in the San Diego area.
Lovely winery nestled in a quaint village of shops with historic charm.
I was super impressed with the Bernardo winery ????.... this place is so relaxing and peaceful... the scenery was amazing.... the wine tasting is reasonably priced and everyone is so welcoming.... this place is great for lunch dates or first dates.... highly recommended!!!!!
What a joyful and wonderful place to visit! It’s like a vineyard wonderland village. You can taste wines, you can eat foods and you can shop around. The wine here is very tasty, we tried their only sparkling wine here which I enjoyed it very much. It’s very crisp, light, and dry. The foods here are decent too, I loved their pizza. The decorations and atmosphere here are so good, I’ll bring my family and friends back here to taste wines and wander around.
Great place to come anytime of day. Manzanita Coffee in the morning, wine tasting in the afternoon, or dinner at the Kitchen
I love this place so peaceful and beautiful. This is my favorite spot in San Diego. A hidden gem
Came here for the 1st time for my birthday and the experience was amazing ???? I love the venue and the outdoor seating area. Everything was spaced for my party of 5 and the food and wine was spectacular. Only thing that was a little confusing is that you have to choose if you are going to the restaurant or the tasting room but you can eat and drink at both ????♀️ we ordered bottles to share and got the Malbec and the Burgundy ???? both were delicious and full bodied but my favorite of the both was the Burgundy ???????????? I liked the story behind it and it was very delicious!! As for the food we all got a little something. I ordered the Prosciutto, pear, gorgonzola pizza and it was cooked to perfection!! All the flavors meshed together perfectly and complements to the chef ???? we also got the Antipasto board to share and that was amazing ???? the only thing I wish was that the bread was pre-cut. Lastly my friend shared her Burrata Primavera salad with me and that was delicious as well ???? overall a great wine-ing and dining experience and a great place to hang out with friends. I will for sure be coming back here!!!❤❤????
Not just a winery. They have little shops, a cafe, weekly farmer's market and serve food in the tasting room.
Beautiful place, great atmosphere and friendly (although amateurish) service. Some of the food items are completely unacceptable! It used to be so much better and we hope they will be able to recruit a better cook.
Awesome flower winery!
What a delightful area to shop, dine, or simply stroll
Nice atmosphere, food was great. Looking forward to tasting additional wines next time.
First time ever going. Food was Gooood! Everyone was so friendly!
Very well done Breakfast with Santa. Great property to explore.
We had a great time here. Restaurant has pretty good menu. 2 for 1 wine tasting with chocolate pairings. Excellent music. Fun shops and the ambience is amazing. A gem in San Diego
Best wine I've had are the bergundy and their rose. Sooo good????????
It’s a delightful place to spend an afternoon eating, drinking, shopping, and enjoying the atmosphere.
Great food awesome ambiance.
Fantastic staff & wine
You need to have reservations which we were unaware of...but at 10:50am they were very accommodating with cancellations for our group of 4 Adults & 3 Minors. We had a very nice relaxing visit. Very safe environment. It felt almost normal again. So grateful!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! If you have not checked out this winery for an event, you're missing out. It's got everything you'd look for in a special, boutique, event venue. It's historic while having charm, elegance, numerous amenities …
Great ambiance, good wine, good food, very good music
A great place to relax, take photos, enjoy the sun.
If I was only rating the wine it would be one star. However, the atmosphere was really nice and the food was good, staff was super friendly... but this place is a WINERY and the wine is just not good.
Fabulous
(Translated) A truly beautiful spectacular place (Original) Un lugar espectacular bello de verdad
(Translated) The place is cool but expensive. (Original) Esta padre el lugar pero carito.
What a hidden gem! I enjoy so much having a glass of wine or (On warm days even better their sangria white or red so very yummy). To be honest we are not big pizza fans expect for theirs. The home made crust and fresh topping I drive over from the coast to par take in! The service was excellent, it’s such a relaxing place. Very much enjoy strolling around the grounds and shopping in the stores. Can’t wait for my next visit!
This is a little gem..grwat place to have wedding, memorial or just a fun evening with friends and family..The wine is very tasty..try their Burndary..
Relaxing, educational. Knowledgeable sommelier, excellent wines. The port was an unexpected gem. Lots of fun to wander the grounds and the many shops. Pairing chocolates from the shop with the wines in the tasting flight was a very nice touch.
Great wine and food. A Lovely place!
It was great
Great atmosphere and good wine tasting
Love the staff and ambiance.
Very cute spot! I love the family atmosphere as well. Wonderful little gem
Was really good
Due to CDC guidelines masks are to be worn. Make a reservation for a table. They were completely booked.
Good wine, good food, nice staff.
Perfect. Excellent friendly service, above and beyond. Great food. Very cute setting... Would have loved to bring our dogs; as we have to many of the other winery's and brewerys in the area.
Enjoy the music on Sunday afternoon.
Classy, quaint, and has a great vibe. Founded in late 1800's but feels modern. Lots of trinket stores and a few cafes/eateries.
Absolutely amazing! Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to drink good wine and have a relaxing evening.
Great, relaxing time... though a little pricey.
Great wine, Great food and friendly service.
Very nice place and great wine too.
Great place, nice shops and the bartenders are very knowledgeable of the wine selection.
If you're looking for a simple & serene atmosphere, this is a good place to unwind and be with families & friends.
Had a wonderful time! They aren't currently doing the traditional wine tasting due to covid 19 so we bought a bottle of white wine and a carafe of sangria and drank that with a couple of wood fired pizzas. Service was wonderful and they were very welcoming!
A great place to go to if you want a nice afternoon filled with great wines! With small arts and crafts stores. I recommand this place
It was awesome loved it's
I live and love the Bernardo Winery!
Decent wines, great staff and love the little shops and art studio.
Lovely venue, good wine. Pleasant outdoor patio & shops. Good music & food. Enjoyed the burgundy.
There are smaller wineries that allow strollers in the tasting room. I'm surprised that it appears to not be so family friendly after all.
This past weekend, I planned a group outing for my corporate work family. We took our employees to three different wineries in the Escondido area, Bernardo Winery being one of them. Prior to our visit, I coordinated with Sydney who was a delight from the start! When we arrived, Cory greeted us and helped us with anything we needed. She brought us to this great gazebo they had set up for us with water (it was finally a warm, sunny day) and bread with oil & vinegar. She shortly grabbed us games and introduced us to our server, Brian, who was also SO delightful. The food came out quickly and it was delicious! Seriously, not one bad bite. Brian was quick and very educated on the menu; he also was super friendly and happy to help. Between the both of them, we never had to worry. Cory & Brian both are great additions to the Bernardo Winery team and we will be back soon! On their service alone.
Not pet friendly ????????
We were visiting family from out of state and stopped at the bernardo winery for lunch and a wine tasting. The food was incredible and we had an opportunity to watch the executive chef preparing the wood fired pizzas. He was so much fun to …
