Best winery of the day!! Amazing wines and such a great history behind it!

A fine winery with some of the oldest vines in the area. The tasting room was adequate, but our group had to squeeze around the smaller back area, which wasn't ideal, but didn't negatively impact the flavours of the wine. Very impressed with their knowledge of the grapes, the wine, and the history of the area. A good choice on a wine tour!

Ashleigh Elaine

2nd time there and loved it just the same.

Courtney Warren

We had a lovely tasting here today with a very friendly and knowledgeable server. Organic and sustainably grown wine but the prices are a little high for our budget and honestly, neither of us thought they merited the $32 and up price point. They do have cheaper wines though. Tastings are steep as well at $10 for a 3-glass flight and $15 for a premium 4-glass flight. If you buy a bottle, they only take $5.00 off where other wineries comp the tasting with purchase. A nice grape vine labyrinth to wander through the grapes and convenient to downtown. Lots of history here - definitely worth visiting.

A quiet, un-pretentious winery with delicious wines and friendly staff. An easy place to bring your kids while you enjoy a wine tasting.

Great winery

Probably one that you can skip on your wine tour. We received a recommendation to visit here from a staff member at Tantalus, and the wines here were mediocre. I was also turned off by being asked for two forms of ID. Been wine tasting in the valley all weekend, and this was not only the first winery to card (not stressful) but the first to ask for two forms of ID. Nice staff, but just unusual.

Great little winery. Love their Sper-itz!

By far my favourite vineyard we visited during a recent girls' weekend to Kelowna. Every single one of their wines we tried was smooth, and easy drinking. And the potato doughnuts from the Pioneer Country Market next door made for a great treat after our tasting.

My wife and I booked a reservation for a morning tasting with our two young kids while staying in Kelowna. Upon arrival, we noted the decent COVID-19 precautions with directional arrows on the ground, plexi-glass shields at the check-in counter, hand sanitizer, and contact tracing sign-in sheet. The woman who greeted us wore a full face shield which we hadn't seen a lot of around Kelowna. The first indication that things were a little 'unique' here was the $10.00 and $15.00 tasting fee for a sample of 3 or 4 wines. We were definitely taken aback by this pricing as it is outrageously higher than anywhere else we'd visited in the past. To add insult to injury, if you buy a bottle, you get $5.00 back off your tasting fee. Every single other vineyard we've ever been to in the Kelowna area waives the fee entirely with a purchase. We decided to bite the bullet and proceed with two, $10.00 tastings at a cost of $20.00 (one of the classic flights and one of the white wine flights). We were seated at our reserved table oustide and waited while other guests showed up. 10 minutes passed and a couple and their two kids who showed up after us were quickly seated and served ahead of us while we continued to wait. Once our server finally got to our table, she had forgotten which flights we ordered and disappeared for another 5 minutes before coming back with our samples. She then proceeded to give us a history of the property and description of the wines but stood further away than need be even with COVID-19 abound and seemed uneasy about the situation she found herself in. While I always appreciate hearing some history and learning about the wines we're tasting, she started to wander onto some tangents and even interrupted herself a couple times to indicate how busy our children are. Kids get busy when they wait 20 minutes. It was finally time to drink our wines and I would generally characterize them as ok. Not bad but certainly far from exceptional. Perhaps soured by the $20.00 fee we paid for a spattering of samples. For the grand finale, my 3 year old son needed to use the bathroom before we left. We walked into the tasting room and noticed a washroom in the back but were told it was closed due to COVID-19 and were directed to a portable unit in the parking lot. Not overly keen on using a portable unit with a 3-year old, I asked if there was at least running water to wash our hands after. Our server indicated that yes, there was running water with a foot pump, soap, paper towels, and the bathroom was clean. The portable unit was a standard grey porta-potty sitting at the end of the gravel overflow parking lot baking in the sun. We awkwardly fit ourselves into the porta-potty and were greeted by a tampon applicator on the floor, an open seat with nice pungent odour, and a water level that was way too high indicating the porta-potty was very overdue for an emptying. I had my son sort of stand up on the seat to urinate as he couldn't sit due to the trash can that was propped up next to the toilet. I moved quickly as it was 35-degrees outside and about 45-degrees inside the porta-potty. Holding him up in the air to wash his hands while operating a rubber foot pump was exceptionally challenging while also trying not to have him touch the walls. After leaving and thinking about the whole experience I just got angrier and angrier and really felt I needed to share this review. To close your washroom to guests and force them to use a filthy porta-potty in the hot sun, at a place that charges $10 or $15 per tasting per guest is unacceptable. While I initially appreciated all the COVID-19 precautions, it became increasingly apparent that these precautions were simply in place for staff with very little regard to the health, safety, and comfort of Sperling’s guests. We frequented one other vineyard and three cideries, all of which had fully functioning washroom facilities available for guests to use. We will not be returning to Sperling during future visits to the Kelowna area.

Love the tasting room and love the customer service they are very nice to introduce lots of different wines

Trevor Prosser

Enjoyed this as the first stop of the day on our wine tour. The server was quite kind and knowledgeable about the wine that she was serving and the vineyard itself. It was neat to hear about the history of the different vines that are growing in their vineyard. The wines were great - my favorite was the late harvest Riesling.

Sperling Vineyards carries with it an impressive legacy tracking back nearly a century involving the very foundation of Okanagan culture, making me even more depressed when we drove by it unaware of its existence. I mean it wasn’t invisible—no functioning cloaking device or hypnosis from The Shadow convinced me of its absence. We just weren’t looking. We glanced by and thought, hey, we just passed a winery; we should check that out when we come back. Our destination had been Tantalus, followed by Summerhill and Steve (long story), two of which were good wineries. On our way back, we made a point to stop at Sperling and were glad to do so. This is a classic winery with a family heritage offering a broad selection of wine hoping at least one will connect with buyers. The bottles carry a distinct design without being extravagant. And I did purchase one, which is all they really need to ask for. Success, as many wineries can’t even convince me to purchase one (the majority still do—last year, I visited 60 wineries and brought back 120 bottles). Of course, me being unusual, it had to be the 2015 Riesling Late Harvest. Outside of that pleasant purchase was an enjoyable experience at the winery. Of all the locations visited in Southern Kelowna, Sperling had by far the most enjoyable hosts. I can’t even remember the gender of the host at Cedar Creek—my girlfriend has to keep reminding me I even went there (odd considering I purchased a bottle, so obviously they did something right)—but the one memory I took from Sperling was the engagement with the hosts. Of course, this was March, and since there were no other customers present, we had their utmost attention. But even if we weren’t the only ones, I still have confidence the experience would have still been pleasant. The hosts were just that good, so much so that I felt guilty about not buying more. I had no idea if they were related to the founding family or part-timers balancing this from their secondary income assumingly also in the service industry. Natural salesmanship is not a skill one is bestowed with naturally—it’s a talent, and that’s coming from a 25-year veteran in retail. The Sperling winery is not the largest of the Southern wineries visited, but I certainly admired the décor, populated by bottles first, novelties second. However, this is accentuated by the presence of the Pioneer market occupying the same building. That’s where the confusion came from when we passed and realized a winery was there. The sign for the market is huge and dominating, so it would be understandable for one to pass the winery without notice. So, this is me telling you to slow down. I know you must drive on this road if you want to reach the other wineries, but you’ll miss one of the better ones.

A couple of weeks ago, a large group of us visited Sperling Vineyards. We were greeted by Jill Branby, their sales and marketing manager. She was able to answer all of our questions about the differences between types of grapes and what goes into making their different types of wine. We spent quite a while discussing which foods best pair with their wines, something that everyone in group was interested in learning more about. I highly recommend this place for tourists and locals alike!

What an amazing experience. The wine was incredible. They accommodated my Wife's Birthday tour, all 13 of us, with ease. The owner came and sat at our table to chat. His staff was very informative. This place is a must see on your wine touring list for Kelowna. It was definitely a high light of our trip. We left with a case of assorted bottles of their "Ambrosia". We will definitely be back. All the best from Squamish.

This place was amazing, the people really know what they talking about, they are welcoming and kind. They went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and they even set up a tasting at another winery when they heard someone else has canceled on us last minute. Fantastic experience all around, and good wine.

Very accessible if you're looking to stay close to town! I drove past it many times before I finally stopped in. I'm a fan. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff that were very welcoming and engaging. If you're looking to try some wine, learn a few things or buy a good bottle then definitely stop in. I took home a 2016 Foche. Loved every sip.

Sperling Vineyards is the oldest family-owned farm in BC. They make a nice selection of wines using certified organic grapes and biodynamic principles. Stop by for an easy-going tasting with their great staff.

Paul and Belinda were amazing and made my bachelorette party wine tasting adventure feel so special! The wines were delicious and the at-home-atmosphere was awesome! For sure 5 stars!

We came here with a bridal party and they took us out to a tent in the middle of one of their labyrinth with all these pretty flowers and stuff around us, we were told interesting stories and facts, the host was very entertaining and friendly and the wines were very good! All 6 wines we tried were delicious. Out of the 6 wineries we went to today we all agree this was our favourite. Highly recommend coming to this winery!!

Beautiful vineyard to explore and take a stroll through their labyrinth! Lucky enough to spot Ann Sperling and had a quick chat about rose gardens & their connection to vineyards, something I have always been curious about. They used to serve as an early warning system for mildew as the roses would get it before the vines!

Awesome wine tasting. All the wines were very good and our host was very interesting! We did a lot of tasting in the area and this winery is definitely one of our best!

Small tasting room with great staff. We were greated and welcomed immediately and asked questions about our preferences. Based on that a recommendation for tastings was offered and we enjoyed each. The cost of tasting waived with purchase and because we bought so many they were able to help us out with a box to get it all home. Only disappointment is not finding them in Alberta.

Wayne Lehman

We decided to stop in on a whim. We saw the sign, and decided to take a taste test tour. Man, are we glad we did. Jenny was friendly, informative, knowledgeable, and an amazing host! Wines were amazing, atmosphere was impeccable, and extra points for the black lab named Dexter - who stole the show with his tail wag as a greeting. Walked out full of puppy love, lots of wine, and great memories! 10/10 would recommend :)

I have to say, we were quite disappointed with our wine tasting at Sperling. We had a young blonde girl "running" it for us, but she really just plopped the wine on the table and left, and quite honestly made us feel like she was annoyed we were there. In comparison to the other tastings we did, this lacked energy, passion and also any kind of education. I couldn't tell you one thing about the wines from this winery which was too bad as I enjoy learning about each wine at a tasting. The property is beautiful though so if you have the chance to go, definitely walk around and explore.

I just had one of the greatest wine tasting. The staff was very welcoming, down to earth and you could tell that they put their heart and soul into their business. We had a very interesting and insightful conversation about their biodynamic and organic cultures which made us appreciate even more the tasting. All wines tasted were amazingly well balanced and were very distinctive. Everybody should try this vineyard while visiting Kelowna.

So sad that they were sold out of spudnuts by the time we got there. However, their winery was great. Picked up a few bottles. Their Speritz is delicious and reasonably priced. Would definitely go back again.

Amazing service! My husband and I are not wine drinkers but we wanted to buy some for our relatives and friends. They were very patient with us and took the time to explain the different wines, as well as let us sample the wines before we made our decision! We didn’t feel rushed or pressured to buy! Will definitely come back to support this winery!

Rustic winery. One of the originals in the OK. Lunch is really good too

I enjoyed this stop. The wine was good and the staff friendly. Nice picnic area outside if you would like to sit and relax.

Good organic wines. Their tasting menu was very steep as we picked what we wanted to taste and not a set tasting menu. We tasted 2 red and 2 white. $30. I could have just bought an Old Vine Foch for an extra $2 ($32) and got a whole bottle. The handsome young man who served us was polite but it seemed like all he told me about the wines was rehersed. Not much passion but a good try. In all I like their wines and will go back knowing that I wouldn't overpay for the tasting.
