Visiting family in Vernon, thought I'd check out this Brewpub as it is new to me. I was pleasantly pleased with the lager (had three pints) also ordered the happy hour dry ribs which were a generous tasty portion. The Brewpub has friendly staff and a great chill ambience with comfortable bar stools. I plan on going back for seconds before I head back home.

Just ate here and is was very good for pub food. We had Brisket and fish tacos, and smoked pork sandwich, and everyone was very pleased. The decor is very nice and different. When the boys come up this way again for this year for hockey, we will be stopping in.

Good beer but the kitchen is in need of some serious ventilation upgrades. The whole place smells bad of cooking, like burnt and grease. Unpleasant to leave there with your clothes and hair smelling like a deep-fried basket, after wanting to enjoy a pint or two....????????

Dined for the first time at Martens Brew Pub and it was great! The food, the atmosphere, and the staff - A+! Our server for our table of 7 was Jenna, and she was great!! She answered our many, many questions (and we asked a lot) all with the best attitude. She enjoys her job and you can tell - she even told us stories about her cat (whom she loves dearly by the way). Also a special mention to Connor - who you can clearly tell also loves his job. He is extremely engaging and has a passion that bleeds through! Marten's you are lucky to have them both!

Excellent micro brews, great service and atmosphere. Happy hour was great. Went with a big group, everyone got food and everyone was impressed with their dishes. The pizzas are massive, and will easily feed two hungry guys for $17 to $20.

Food is amazing, especially the chicken wings, Mac&Cheese with brisket and the pizza. Beers are amazing too. Service is great and staff is friendly. I would give a 5 stars, however everything is a bit slow, from taking the order after we sit down and getting the bill, everything just seems to take a bit longer and it wasn’t busy at all. I’m not sure because I’m from the big city and everything is quick or because I’m in a small town.

A few inconsistencies with online menu vs in restaurant menu and the beer lists but all and all good place. Our service was top notch with quick and friendly servers. I like the selection of beers here especially the stouts, IPAs and sours. The tasting flights are a great way to try a few different flavours whilst also having a fun table feature. You can also get growlers filled to take home with you.

The beer is DELICIOUS! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE LEMONADE SOUR BEER. the food was so good and affordable. The place looks high end and has cool doors and bathrooms but it's affordable to eat there and that's pretty awesome! Megan was a sweetheart who cared about us, made sure we were good and had lots of recommendations for vernon. Martens you're lucky to have that girl work for you! Nice place if you like beer and kombucha with alcool ! Try the rotating bucha tap with gin! It's good! Otherwise I like the fact that there is a old NES where you can play a few games with your friends and do a few friendly bets on who will pay the next round!

Food and beer is very good but the menu is a bit weak, 7 or 8 burger choices, 5 pizza choices. The "Globe Trotter" section has three items and two of them are tacos(pork or fish). Don't get me wrong, the food they make is very good but I'd like to see entrees, like most Gastro Pubs have. Where's the Butter Chicken, Red Thai Curry?? I know it's not original but neither is 8 different types of burgers.

Service was brutal on 3 separate occasions. I don’t usually write reviews but after a 3rd incident of poor service I need to voice a complaint. It took 45 minutes to get a glass of water for my girlfriend who was my designated driver the first night we were at Marten’s. While the rest of our table was served twice in the that time. Even after our server had be reminded twice. The bartender on both nights was aggressively ignoring both of us and my friends while we tried to grab a drink at the bar. The pub wasn’t even busy. Any sever we asked for help just told us to ask the bartender for our drinks. After 20 minutes waiting to be noticed while the bartender poured a drink for another costumer we were finally served. He was very curt when we were finally served. Sad that such a nice location has such poor service. Also way over priced for a local BX Cider. Shameless to be honest.

Came here as a group of six for a late lunch today. Our server, didnt get his name but he was dressed as a vampire, went above and beyond to help out one of us who couldn't eat solid food. Exemplary service. Food and beer was great, kombucha was cool, and overall we left happy and would come back.

If service is terrible, I'm not going back no matter what. We stopped in for a flight and a pint on a slow Saturday afternoon - how hard can that be? The place was virtually deserted and we waited for what seemed like forever to order. Finally ordered and then they were out of some beers (really? There's nobody here!?!) And then had to change the keg on one of the beers. Between sitting down and finally had a beer in front of us was almost 25 minutes. Terrible service - not going back.

Marten Brewpub is an excellent pub. My partner and I always eat here when we visit town. We always have a great dinner and beer after a day of skiing at Silver Star. The staff is very friendly. It is nice to have such a quality place in Vernon!

We went to the Mother's Day breakfast buffet with another couple. What a fantastic spread. Everything from fruit and home baked scones to traditional breakfast fare of eggs, sausage and bacon. They also had baked salmon, chicken, ribs and smoked brisket. This was their first buffet. For $20 each it was the best I have been to!

I gave this place a second chance before I reviewed but it still very much disappointed. The service matches the speed of most glaciers and they don't even care. They have poorly timed meals which means it will have been under a heat lamp much longer then necessary. The food is also very plain, spices are available but never used. Also for a "brewery" they are always out of their "good" beer and you aren't guaranteed the drink you order either. Just save yourself the trouble and take the hit to wait 2 hours in the summer at Alexander's pub or Kelly Os

Leo and his staff did a wonderful job planning and hosting a dinner for 120 guests before our daughter's wedding. Leo was extremely accommodating and helpful, his staff were excellent, and the facility was perfect. The food and beer were outstanding. We recommend the Marten Brewpub without reservation.

Marten Brewpub used to be our favorite place to eat... The last few times have been lacking, however. The servers are generally good - they work hard for their tip. The food is still good. The beer is acceptable (used to be better). The prices are... weird. What place sells a side of yam fries for $8? Response: Hi, thanks for the quick response. Concerning the yam fries, we got a very small side of yam fries (with the entree) that worked out to be $8. This could have been the bartender's error. How can you win back our hearts? In years past, we were excited for Tuesdays because of the well-priced tacos and the margaritas. Nowadays, the tacos are more expensive than they used to be, and the margaritas are both smaller and, from what we've had recently, not blended enough. That is one thing to change... Another thing that seems to have lost its quality recently is the beer. It's just not good anymore. Drinking the red ale (most other beers were sold out) was, in my subjective experience, worse than I remember, and the Lunkhead lager was sour and weak. I apologize if this sounded harsh, but know that it comes from a good place - I want our local businesses to thrive.

I wouldn't normally leave a bad review, but I feel I should warn people who are celiac or gluten intolerant. I ordered the Buddha Bowl because it's labeled gluten-free and I'm gluten intolerant. I thought I could trust the menu to only label things as gluten-free if they are actually gluten-free. It turned out the dish had wheat kernels, despite the menu saying it was gluten-free. Silly me ate it anyway thinking the grains must be buckwheat or something, no one garnishes a gluten-free dish with a handful of wheat kernels. No one except Marten Brewpub! Don't eat here if you can't have gluten.

Marten Brewpub never disappointed. They not only have great beer and tasty food, but super amazing staff as well. One day I went to the pub to get my growlers filled, but they had some kind of a private party. The door was open though, and I entered wondering how long would it take them to turn me away. But! A lady at the bar was super super friendly, and even though they were closed, she filled my growlers and was very welcoming and amazing. I didn't ask her name - but thank you!

Building is nice. That's kind of where the positives end though. All of the beers i tasted were poor (five of them). Either too weak or too bitter... I like all styles but none of these hit the mark unfortunately. Food wise, it was hit and miss. I had a burger which was very disappointing. Tasted like a frozen burger, compacted, oniony etc... Herself had the snitzel which was actually really nice. Came with a delicious baked potato with bacon and cream cheese and some veg as well. Think this place has the potential to be great. But right now, it's just filling a void. *Edited after response from the owner... Yes taste is subjective. However, just because someone brews 'craft' beer doesn't make it good. I'm pretty serious about beer and as I mentioned, like a lot of different styles. So please dont take my comments as flippant. I want to see people make amazing beers. I dont enjoy spending my money on poor quality ones for the sake of it. I'm sure you guys will find your feet in a few years and I'll try again.

Vernon needed a place like this. Visiting over the years this place had the amazing smoked meat smell when you walked through the doors a few years ago. However now..... The name has nothing to do with the food. Don't go here for a smoked meat shop. The name is very misleading. This burger was good however why they are not making it unreal, and a burger someone would travel for beats me. The world is now all about fresh, local, safe smart food. Take that, follow the trends, and get some local beef, grill it and this burger would be the best burger for vernon and surrounding areas. This place needs love in their creations again.

Overall disappointing experience. Some of my friend's beers were flat. The fish in my fish tacos were chewy, bland guacamole (which i paid extra for) side salad was overdressed and too sweet of a flavor profile with all the toppings in it (apple, candied pecans, cranberries, Mandarin orange slices with a sweet dressing) which I also paid an extra $3 with my meal. My partner had an old menu with old prices on it so he thought his veggie burger was 13 instead of 16...which is pretty pricey for a veggie burger in our opinion. Overall the quality of food and beverage is just not worth it for the amount of money you spend there. The decor and atmosphere is really nice, I just wish the quality and consistency would have been there on the food and beverage end.

I really enjoy the food here but the past couple of times we came in I've been very disappointed in the service. The server was rude and seemed like we were inconveniencing him by coming in. He seemed miserable and like he would rather have been anywhere but there. The last time we came in as a party of 10 on a Friday night, there was lots of space in the restaurant but we were told they didn't have the staff to serve us. We offered to just sit at regular tables and we were still turned away. I want to support local business but they're making it difficult by turning people away.

What a great spot. Wide selection of beer - tried the Dr. Bonnie Henry blonde ale and it was a success. I ate the fish and chips - slam dunk. Lightly battered and soft on the inside, really nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially given the circumstances. They all wore face shields or masks and there was plenty of hand sanitizer. They were also very welcoming to having our young daughter with us. Awesome place!

Absolutely phenomenal. The menus are in a bit of flux at the moment so some aren’t up to date. But the food is fantastic. Highly recommend coming here for lunch or dinner. From the moment you walk through the front door you know you're walking into a unique place. The entrance is divided by a wooden pillar and has round feel to it. The atmosphere inside is very nice and welcoming, and the food is great, all the servers have smiles and are very friendly.

Delicious chicken wings, great beer but fairly slow service. They were busy at the time but I asked for blue cheese as my wings were set in front of me and I think the server may have forgotten as she brought the sauce over when I had 1 wing left and of course charged extra for sauce. Would still come again. Would still get beer and wings just ask while you’re ordering.

Getting decent service here is always a hit or miss which is probably why they go thru so many staff. The "updated" menu is the same, never knowing whether it will be terrible or decent. The kitchen seems to pick and choose when they want to make the food taste good, much like the customer service. The rare time it's busy here, the bartenders and servers run around with their heads cut off, in a wacky frenzy. Forgetting drinks and meals happens regardless of how many customers are in the place. Exactly as you see in other reviews... It's quite shocking that this place is still open, my best guess is because it's the only brewpub in Vernon and has nice decors. On top of that, they say they're "under new management" but all I've seen is high turn over of staff, sub-par food and cocktails that never taste the same as before. The beer is the only good thing about here and it seems the only way to get decent service to become buddy's with the owners or managers who seem completely aloof to how to run a successful business.

Went in during the light up, was really busy! However our server was beyond on the ball, this was my first time trying and I’ve been wanting to for years! The drafts in house are delicious, serving was above par especially for a busy evening and to top it off the food came in a timely manner and was beyond delicious. Can’t wait to pay another visit! 10/10 would recommend, it’s hard to find comfy cozy atmospheres with the rest to back it up.

Could be so much better if they resolved the issues with slow service. EDIT: Had a reply from ownership - which I appreciate - but slow service was an issue even before the shutdown. After a couple of slower services, we would make a point of sitting close to the bar so we would be visible to our server and we could flag them down. The last time we were here, our server would bring one drink to us at a time even when both our drinks were poured and waiting at the bar. At any given time one of us would be waiting for our drinks when it wasn't necessary. As mentioned, this place has a lot going for it if they can iron out their service issues. (And bring back Cookie Monster Stout).

Had a great dinner and beer at Marten Brewpub. I chose the pulled pork tacos, my friends had fish tacos and crispy chicken burger. All of our dishes were delicious. I substituted fries for the daily tomato soup, which was fantastic. My favourite beer was Lunkhead Lager, very crisp and refreshing. My friends had flights to taste different beer options, all of which were really nice. The atmosphere was cozy and quite trendy. It’s great to see a well design local brewery of such quality in Vernon. Service was very friendly and fast. We’ll be back for more!

Went there today for the first time and we loved it. Some of the beers are actually really great, some others we didn’t enjoy as much. Sunday is Happy Hour all day which was a nice surprise and you get a lot for your money’s worth.. We sat outside on the patio and our server was super attentive and helped us a lot to guide us through the menu because you have to order right when you get in. We loved the food especially the pine and pork pizza.

I've been to Marten Brewing Company several times, today was taco Tuesday!!! Their tacos are pretty good, stuffed to the max with tasty toppings like pickled onions, banana peppers, cilantro, etc. I had the fish and smoked chicken tacos, they were really good! My wife had the brisket and pork carnitas, she loved them. They also have a brewery on site that makes beer and kombucha, we had the beer named in honour of Dr. Bonnie Henry, it was a good beer! Go support local restaurants!!

Very disappointed with the beer. There's no consistency to it and the "same" beers taste drastically different depending on when you buy them. Cookie monster stout: rich and flavourfull at one point, suddenly it has become flat, dull garbage. Red ale: the pint at the bar was great, came back a few days later and got a growler of it to go, and not only did it taste like a completely different beer, but they only filled the growler half way! Cosens bay lager: got a growler of this after the red ale fiasco, and I swear this growler was filled 80% with water and 20% with beer. You could barely recognize the _hint_ of beer in this garbage.

Went for the first time last week with a friend who just moved to town; would suggest the white sangria any day, very refreshing! Had the club sandwich, which was also delicious and the fries were great too :) Jenna was our server, she was personable, chatty, and down to Earth. I had a fantastic, juicy delicious burger and frosty nitrogen rich cream ale beer. The service was good. My friend who sat across the table was served flat flavorless diet soda. When the server asked how everything was, my friend said 'fine.' How is the restaurant supposed to know something is wrong if no one says anything? I laughed. His wings were too salty. He said nothing again. I had a great dining experience.

Tuesday night full at 6:45pm (who knew?) but only had to wait 30 minutes so we killed time walking around downtown (sadly it was Smokey). Large inside waiting area and fully air conditioned. They have a wait list texting program to let you know when the table was ready. Our server was on her game. Friendly. She told us right off the bat that the kitchen was 40 minutes behind as they were short staffed, so we waited patiently for our meals. We both had the white sangria special - yummy but a tad sweet so we just added some ice water to it. We both ordered one soft taco each. Hubby had the brisket (amazing) and I had the bbq pulled pork. Now, both tacos were filled to the top but my taco came to me soggy and full of grease which was so strange! After I drained the grease and soaked it off my tortilla with my napkin it was edible, tasty and the slaw gave it a great crunch. So other than the grease, the tacos were excellent. The menu on Google is old/outdated as it says they have chicken tacos - our server said that they no longer have it (so don’t rely on that menu). My dinner was the brisket and blue cheese salad. This portion was massive, lightly dressed and a perfect amount of blue cheese served with a slice of garlic toast. Hearty amount of brisket served on the side as well. I loved it. My hubby had the garlic chicken pizza. The roasted garlic was ultra strong (I had to pick them off) and the crust was on the doughy side but flavourful none the less. The venue is really neat and I would go back. They just need more staff but understandably so on the heals of Covid19 and the fact that forrest fire smoke has taken over the city.

Five years ago, Martens was a very popular place in town. It had its own craft beer, Jenga, shuffleboard, and ping pong. It also had a decent food menu. I used to take my friends from out of town here. Today was my first time in there in about four years. We were in the mood for pizza and nachos. The entire food menu covered less than a page. There were chips and salsa, and two meat pizzas as options. We left without ordering anything. Jenga, shuffleboard, and ping pong weren't available. They also had a sign saying the kitchen was closed between 1:45 and 3. I think all of these shortcomings are due to the pandemic. They likely have only one cook. It looks like their craft beer is still intact which is great. Sadly I can't recommend this place given what Longhorn, Kal, Alexander's, and Squires all offer in town. Rootin' for ya, Martens!

Good local pub with fresh beer. Have been coming here for years. Good atmosphere with rough cut wood and metal as decor. Visible brewery from the restaurant. Good food with new beers on tap constantly. Beer quality has come a long way, but some further attention to detail could help improve quality. I was there yesterday with a friend and interacted with the owner's wife and son. After connecting over young parenting, they proceeded to gift some of their Kombucha for my pregnant wife at home. Lovely gesture and contributed to the friendly atmosphere. Would definitely recommend going to!

Came in for Happy Hour and to check the place out as our daughter had booked the upstairs for the venue for their wedding reception! We had a great meal and a couple of very good beers and enjoyed our visit. When we told our server Linda about the event, she took us upstairs and let us look around. Just came back from Marten's. Carnitas tacos used to be around $12-14 for three; now they are suddenly $20, a huge raise that the waitress had no explanation for. To add insult to injury, they were served completely cold, with meat dryer than sand in the desert. Straight out of the freezer, at nearly double the price. Marten's went from our favourite place in town, to somewhere we'll probably never set foot in again in the span of 30 minutes. EDIT: The average taco has ~70 grams of meat. That's 210 grams per order, or $0.63 of that "$3/KG increase." Am I supposed to believe that the "10% wage increase" accounts for the rest of that $4 price increase? Give me a break! Call it what it is: price gouging to increase profits.

Me and my 20 yr old daughter stopped in for lunch..my daughter forgot her ID, no problem we were going for food anyway..WE WERE KICKED OUT because minors aren't allowed in the place... when it clearly states on the website minors are welcome!

Glad to see craft beer in downtown Vernon. My favourite was the BC Bud IPA. Tasted smooth with citrus notes. It does not contain any marijuana by the way. I asked before imbibing. Their Lager was perfect to the style which is sometimes difficult for craft brewing, so good job there too. The Spruce IPA was served flat to me, and tasted like a spruce or pine tree, which I did not care for. Maybe just the last of an old keg, so please taste for yourself. I also tasted the red ale, which was dark and a little harsh and overly bitter not to style I thought. Food was great. Noticed many people ordering the fish tacos which were excellent. I enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich which was very nice, but I wanted more sauce. Just a drop or two on my sandwich as served was inadequate, but many people prefer the full smoked meat taste. Just a little more sauce would compliment, not overwhelm the meat. The other thing I noticed is that the servers were all beautiful women in causal sexy clothes. It’s not like Cactus Club Cafe where the beautiful women are in black dresses. I noticed the customers in the full restaurant were likewise about 50% very beautiful women. There’s a lot of beauty to this place. The building interior is beautiful, the customers are beautiful and the staff all looked very attractive. Definitely a plus. Much to like here.

We came here for dinner as it is one of the few restaurants open late in Vernon. The atmosphere is okay. The restaurant is clean and you get a view of the beer making equipment. They have a family section. Menu is limited. We ordered the Mac and cheese, blue cheese salad, and Cuban sandwich. The food was okay. Coffee is nice. I tried their blueberry vanilla pale ale. First sip you couldn’t taste the flavours but after several more sips it comes through. Beer was okay. Service was fantastic. Overall, average restaurant and great if you’re looking to try some new homemade beers.
