REVIEWS OF Redtail Vineyards IN Trenton

David Mellor

A labor of love is the way this wine-maker describes his work. It shows. Upon retiring from a high-pressure management position, he started this small, almost unique vineyard and winery. Completely off the grid, totally organic, vegan, handmade, and as natural as possible, make this an unusual place. The Pinot Noir presents a big, fruity nose with a tease of the fermentation. The flavour is complex, balanced and expressively true to variety. I especially enjoyed the long, spicey finish. Not sure how long the place will stay the way it is as they are trying to sell the whole operation, house, vines, winery, so get there while you can.

The owners at Redtail are wonderful! They are so passionate about the wine, it's infectious! We had the Reisling- and it was incredible. Vegan and organic- it's of the purest form. Can't wait to try the Pinot Noir. Thanks again for a great tour.

Amazing up and coming winery. Currently building a new larger winery on a nearby site(just planted 27 acres of vines). Lots of interesting low intervention wines. I love the act natural. Great knowledgeable tasting room staff. winemaker Lee Baker is definitely one to keep your eye on. Worth the drive to Consecon.

Cool little vineyard. Vines seem pretty young. The firepit and bit of an area for live music is a really nice touch.

Laurie Hébert

This was my first visit to Redtail Vineyards and it was a pleasant surprise! It’s listed is the first stop on the Prince Edward County wine trail. It’s definitely a great introduction! The wine tasting bar is simple and the location is excellent! A relaxing place to have a glass of wine. The wonderful lady pouring our wine was knowledgeable and pleasant. Their beautiful husky Enya was so much fun. Absolutely recommended. The wine is fabulous! ????☺️

The wines according to Gilbert (the winemaker) are all organic, both the wines and the wine-making. He obviously cares for the quality and meeting the man is about as delightful as tasting his wines. As I work my way through my purchases, I am torn trying to decide my favourite, so far it is the unfiltered Chardonnay; prior to this visit, I would never have bought a Chardonnay.

Great small winery, delicious wines, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Looking forward to seen them grow in the future!

Excellent wine, customer service, and atmosphere. As a newer PEC winery, I CANNOT WAIT for what is coming down the pipes with the all-star industry leaders that they have on their team. Huge cheers!

Love both Redtail Vineyard's Riesling because it is dry and crisp and the wonderful Chardonnay. The taste is beyond special. And Pauline & Hebert bring old world class to wines in the County with their wealth of information. We are happy to have you here in Consecon! .

We visited 14 wineries during our PEC trip and the group unanimously agreed this was the best! They are completly different than any other winery we visited in their wine making process. They are completly off grid and green! Powered by 4-6 solar panels. Truly amazing entrepreneurial. I forget how but they are the only winery to make wine the way they do in Canada! This was truly noticeable with each of the wines we tasted. They had a Pinot Gris, a Riesling, a Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir. All 4 were the best I had on the trip! Some unique notes to look for were honey and strawberry which could be identified immediatly! The couple has sold because they wanted a retirement hobby and couldn't keep up with the demand. That says it all.

Amazing natural wine, tasting was done by a very nice and knowledgeable lady (the manager) who knew what she was talking about. Unfortunately, the vines onsite all died due to poor weather conditions, but they are planting again and keep doing amazing natural wine with grapes from other vineyards around. Low intervention wine-making is not just a trend, it makes a lot of sense. Go and try it for yourself!

Wine is fine, but the snack plate is a steal. $18 for this poor little box and everything tastes dry and sour. This vineyard is lovely small but literally no view as it’s hidden beside a narrow dirt road among woods. I would give it 2 stars if it were not for the friendly waiter.

Lovely up and coming winery with delicious white wines and a friendly and knowledgeable staff.

(Translated) Very nice location, we were blown away by the setting and the good comments. For our part, we found the wines worked in a somewhat artificial way: very strong on synthetic flavors (coconut, banana…). Not too much for our tastes. (Original) Très bel emplacement, nous étions emballés par le cadre et les bons commentaires. Pour notre part nous avons trouvé les vins travaillés de façon un peu artificielle : très fort sur les goûts synthétiques (coconut, banane… ). Pas trop dans nos goûts.

Awesome little Vineyard and very friendly owners. Loved the 2018 Pinot Grigio. Would be a 5 star but no washrooms.

Laura Foster

My fiancé and I enjoyed our visit to Redtail Vineyard. Gilbert was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about their wine making process. They are unique as they are very environmentally conscious. We sampled a flight of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Riesling and we enjoyed them all! We went home with a bottle of their Chardonnay and Pinot Gris.

R. Nelson

They had a very good time. Will return.

Jen Siba

Atmosphere was great, wine was fantastic... Hostess was perfect.

First winery we visited on our first visit to PEC. Had specifically selected this winery to visit after reading about it being off grid. We were greeted by the owner, and what followed was an enjoyable and educational visit. it was a pleasure to listen to the passion with which the owner described the operation, and shared his knowledge and love of the grape and wine! The wines themselves were absolutely delicious and unique. We highly recommend their wines!!!
