One of the highlights of The Valley and one of the few places that will open on a public holiday. We appreciate you are paying penalty rates and still open so we have somewhere to go on our days off. Other local venues take not, it's not 100% about your profit margin on just that one day!

Love this place. Took my friend yesterday for her 50th for a bottle of champagne and a cheese platter and all was excellent. Served by a young man who was really helpful and gave great service / nothing was too much trouble. Sat under a tree in a shady spot drinking champagne that was divine! The cheese platter was also perfect and the team member who bought it out also got us plates snd napkins. Another fantastic experience here Thankyou.

Would NOT recommend, Terrible experience, over priced, unorganised, bellow average facilities, long waiting times and worst of all rude staff the owner himself was nothing but rude and aggressive behaviour towards customers, definitely wont be returning.

Great place to stop for a bite to eat and a glass of wine. Beautiful spot in the Swan Valley. Nice covered out door area, with live music on the weekends. Delicious menu and a wide range of wines to match all the menu items. Popular spot to stop any time of the year.

The location isn't the best in the valley as it sits right on a busy road. I was part of a wine tour so the wines brought out weren't very good. We had the summer duck, bubble duck and red duck which were all way to sweet. The platter was quite nice and the live acoustic guitarist singing was a nice touch.

We travelled to a ‘boutique’ winery called Ugly Duckling Wines. So much better than going to the BIG well known impersonal wineries. These types of wineries have to offer different and unique varieties of wine but at the same time be competitive in price and of quality in taste. In all regards this winery was a great surprise. The Chenin Blanc was thicker than most (almost like a ‘sticky’) – initially gooseberry and sweetness hits the palate but it soon dissolved into a longer dry ending. Fabulous for seafood or spicy meals. The winery has an equally good unwooded Chardonnay & a light Rose based on ages Shiraz. Also a heavier red called Red Duck – all wines were of superb and surprising quality. Stay for lunch & enjoy either their homemade pies or cheese or meat platters with crackers (or cwackers in these parts). This winery was the duck’s nuts – you have got a buy a wooden duck as a souvenir. So if you are staying in Perth or surrounding areas put this winery on your hit-list. It’s not too far from the Margaret River Chocolate Factory.

Owner has no people sense what so ever. Came for a friend's birthday and came on the bus with an angry attitude from the get go. Not very welcoming. Pro tip, as much as you may be the owner, maybe tone it down a bit and make the entry message a nice one. You know, make it seem like it's going to be a fun venue to enter. It more or less felt like "you should feel privileged if you get the chance to drink here. Don't have too much fun or I'll kick you out". Hands down worst venue i've been to.

I love visiting Ugly Duckling Wines, it is so laidback and the staff are super friendly. The wine is delicious and those pies just blow my mind! I've just planned my office Xmas party and we are heading to Ugly Duckling for lunch, I can't wait!

We did not feel welcome at all as soon as we as arrived. The owner (he told us multiple times that he owned the place like it was supposed to mean something) could have been nicer when he laid down the house rules. Rather than speaking to us like adults he got on our bus and talked to us as if we were children - we were aged 27 - 60 y.o. He made it seem like we were lucky to be at his winery. Disappointing, I hope they work on their attitude.

Very casual place for a drink and meal. Markets are held here occasionally also. Ugly Duckling is a rather small vineyard offering locally made wines. The outdoor seating is very relaxed and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and although we didn’t eat anything, from what we saw the meal sizes were very generous and platters to share seemed very popular. They also offer a range of gourmet pies which we will definitely try next visit! Very popular place along West Swan Road with both locals and tourists.

Did not feel welcome today - the woman serving us was very unfriendly and I felt quite uncomfortable during the wine tasting. None of the wines were described in any detail even though we were specific about what we wanted to try. I chose not to continue this after 2 tastings as it was an unpleasant experience for my partner and I.

Best unblocked view of the vineyards into the valley. Quaint and charming, not a splashy sleek winery. Dog-friendly. Only cheese and wine tasting; platters would likely fill 2 girls up though. I was surprised by how good the wines tasted for what looked like a small winery. Nice staff even when busy and overworked.

Free wine sample, 4 different wines of your choice from their wine list. We eventually settled for their reserve white. Tried their $2 olive too, love the green olives. Beautiful vineyard and surrounding for a quick stroll. Love it.

Have been here many times. Previously loved the service food and of course the wines. This time took our visitors from the UK hoping for a similar experience. To our complete embarrassment we were met with a lady (on Thursday last) serving the wine tastings with what I can only describe as an indifferent surly attitude. We left ...ps the wines we tasted were still fantastic!

Nice cafe style winery with friendly staff. The food platters are OK, just a couple of choices, and pies on a Sunday. I'd wished for more selection of food to be more versatile. Wines are good, try the chenin blanc indeed. Great two piece band playing slow jam sessions which match the vibe and scenery. Lots of doggies, nice staff. You can also picnic there ordering their food and wines. Folks from all backgrounds. Very relaxing ambiance.

What a great place to relax. Thank you to the vibrant and bubbly kiwi girl behind the bar serving. She has great knowledge of all the wines i taste tested, so of course i had to buy some bottles and will be back for more. Great customer service from staff like this lady brings back customers. The staff were friendly and polite even though they were rushed off their feet and The wines were good. The let down is that they don't do wine tastings for groups. You pay for a few bottles and sit and drink them. We would've preferred to have actual tastings. We also weren't given glasses for our tastings as they had run out so my partner went and collected some empties from the tables as the staff were super busy and had to get them washed.

What a wonderful venue, wines and service. A wonderfully relaxing venue. Great covered areas for group bookings and delicious food offerings. Take a blanket and relax or sit under the ☔ tables. Extra fun watching the coaches of party goers and their full outfits. No matter whether lots of people, or a few, the service is excellent. Music on Saturday and Sunday afternoons bis most enjoyable.

Super disappointing visit. We visited in a group and we were left sitting for about 15min between tastings. Eventually we had to leave for lunch after 45min and only three small tastings and they still charged us $4 pp. if you are in a group, don’t even bother.

Stopped off here today for abit of a wine taste and a pie. Was greeted by the charming Cai (Cia) He was very informative and knowledgeable about the local wines and area. Our pies were delicious! Nice wine, but staff was a bit rude. We came for a birthday party, but came separately from the rest of the team. We had to buy our own drinks and we were refused of testing dispite the fact complimentary drinks were mentioned on the menu.

Had our third visit to The Ugly Duck last week and it’s 3 for 3 top experiences for us. Looked after us very well and the cheese board is killer. Red duck and sweet duck are great go to’s to start or finish your tour in the valley. Had 20 of us in and nothing was too hard for the staff and being looked after by the owner is a treat!
