You will see the opinions of people like you who know the services of Soo Brewing Company and 1668 Winery (Winery) in the territory of Sault Sainte Marie (Canada).
Right now the firm gets a score of 4.1 stars over 5 and that rating has been based on 127 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is really positive, and it is founded on a very high number of scores, so we may think that the evaluation is quite faithful. If people have bothered to evaluate when they've done well, it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to write scores when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Winery is included in the category of Brewery.
Place is under construction. Pizza is very good
Please don't call yourself a winery when we stop to do a tasting and have only 3 wines to taste. Other wines by the bottle....hmmm I prefer a taste...We don't do beer.
The beer and wine are good, but the hospitality wasn't so great. When we walked in, one guy behind the bar was running the whole show even though there were multiple bartenders working. A female bartender just stared and scowled at us when we came in instead of greeting us or offering to help us. As we placed our order with the guy running the bar, he yelled at the girl who scowled at us to help him because people were beginning to form a line behind us. Hopefully management can correct the female bartender's behavior. We each had one drink and left.
Pizza was excellent. Wines were good, but a bit sweet compared to what you would expect from a more southern growing region.
I like the atmosphere, it is a pleasant place to hang out with friends or your lovey
Food was absolutely terrible, white fish is frozen and the service leaves much to be desired.
1668 is a fantastic winery. They are constantly improving and introducing new and exciting wines. My all time favorites are Soo Berry and Black Cherry. Tara is a terrific source for finding that perfect wine. She is also a super person and makes your trip in even better. They also serve brews from the Soolocks brewery. So something for everyone. Please leave some black cherry for me. Peggy Schaffer
Absolutely delicious! We visited twice in our weekend get away! Highly recommend!
Had a seat at the bar and was greeted by a friendly bartender. Really enjoyed the Oktoberfest beer. There is also a patio from which you can watch the freighters go by.
My favorite pizza in the Soo!
Great place that is doing everything they can to keep their customers happy and engaged during the covid 19 shutdowns. Growlers are flowing, heaters outside and everyone staying safe. Don't miss out!
I read good reviews and thought the combination of brewery and winery would fit perfectly for my husband and I, but the waiter behind the bar really created a negative atmosphere that the other customers in the restaurant noticed as well. I am fine with the set up ordering at the bar and picking it up yourself, but this kid basically have you attitude for coming into the place. Every question we asked was received with attitude and yes or no answers, like.. can you tell me about the white zin? No. Oh ok.. they had 3 wines and a few fruit options, and 2 beers. The food was good but average. Maybe a better place with the boy not there but really disappointed we wasted our time there on our trip. They did have clean bathrooms available.
Someone needs to talk about and address how addicting their Cheery Noir Red is; You can buy bottles and take them home, or have a glass and eat there. Once a month they have an exhibit of local artisans to showcase their art for the "First Friday" event and it's wonderful to view all the amazing pieces each month from different artists. They have an initial opening with a meet the artist event, then the art is displayed and for sale all month. I love this place.
I've been meaning to review forever since we go here all the time and I know pretty much everyone there - the Spinach dip is my go-to, great with any beer or wine. Pizza and burgers are consistently good and the beer and wine is fabulous. Make sure you take at least 1 bottle home! Very chill, friendly atmosphere - changes coming as they're almost done with an expansion project to add a new deck, it'll be one of the best views of the Locks in the Soo!
Came here with my son and happened to stop in. Loved the atmosphere. It has that brewery feel with a restaurant. I had the pumpkin beer which was fantastic. We had the pretzels and brat and both were delicious. I will definitely stop in every time I am in town to stock up on the beer and wine!!
Dry server with no personality. Black cherry wine was light and only 7%. Place looks to be in middle of construction project but definitely not the best presentation.
We stopped on the way home and we're looking for a place to sit down and eat that we could bring our dog as we were traveling and couldn't leave him in the car. We called and they were happy to accommodate us on their patio. The food was good, husband said the beer was pretty good as well. Staff was very friendly. You pretty much order at the bar and serve yourself.
Friendly staff. Food was very fresh. Very limited vegetarian/vegan options.
The artichoke chicken pizza is absolutely amazing
Pizza and beer were phenomenal and the prices were very reasonable! Excellent service and very clean! We will definitely be back! :)
Very enjoyable atmosphere and eclectic mix of food choices.
This is a wonderful place to enjoy fine wine and beer. +The staff is kind and welcoming. Would totally recommend this place to all!
We stopped in to try the wine and beer and we really liked them both. We didn't have any food. I really enjoyed the white cranberry wine, it was sweet but balanced with a bit of tartness. The young ladies working were very nice and helpful with all our questions.
Be prepared to serve yourself as the staff will not even come to your table. they'll yell your name to come get your drink.. or food..or the food they forgot to make. come.out with no mask ans while requiring tou waer one to gwt your food... no apology.. no discount for a full meal being served 10 minutes after other meals. And no employee discount for doing the servers job...
Was not very impressed with my visit here. Went on a Sunday night at 6 pm and we were one of two parties - the place felt dead. The atmosphere did not help either, felt very sterile and run of the mill. The wines were alright, though mostly on the sweet end, but the food was a let down. We ordered the large cheese plate which ended up being a lot smaller than we expected and it was presented with a bowl of actually rotting grapes. Yikes.
Great place ! I will be returning soon !
We stopped here and tried to grab a bite to eat. The place was adorable but grossly understaffed. We waited about 15 minutes without being addressed at all. It was clear the bartender was the only 1 working - with a full house. It probably would have been good - but not waiting. So we wish this place luck!
Stop here on vacation. The people there are awesome great service. And the food was very good the waitress recommend white fish dip it was excellent. Highly recommend this place to eat or drink there craft beer or wine
You Sweet On Me? The winery is cute. The wines I tasted were ok. The cherry wine had an after taste. It reminded me of medicine my granny used to give me for a cold. They could have been a little sweeter or had a flavor that left an impression on your tongue. Still nice folks.
Was visiting Soo Locks, and was excited to find a brewery up there, only to be disappointed by both beer and foods. To be fair, they were still not in full operation (July '21): multitasking bartenders, no waiters/waitresses, paper plates & plastic utensils, very limited menu. Their tap menu was only limited to 3 offerings (and 1 was out, so really just 2 - amber & IPA). The IPA was just so-so (boring) at best. Food took forever and was only so-so (barely mediocre), too. Generously giving 3 stars (instead of 2) here, considering the COVID impact. If I ever re-visit this area when they are back to full operation, I'll try them again to revise this review.
Great food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere! I highly recommend this place to everyone.
I really wanted to help these folks out with a five star review, but sorry, no way. If I didn't pride myself on not walking out on food that I've ordered, I would have left by now. The beer they produce here is actually not bad and if I were just here for that, I would have likely given them a far more positive review. Bottom line, if you're hungry, definitely go elsewhere.
Maybe the best kept secret! Delicious food (get the spinach dip!) and beer for great prices!
The rooftop seating area is fantastic. Best burger I've had in a while. The Tiramisu Stout was very good. Our experience here was great. Not to mention it was a great view of a freighter exiting the Soo Locks southbound! I would definitely go here again.
Very accommodating for our large group. Food was excellent. Very enjoyable evening.
Nice selection of fruit wines. Be sure to try the smoked whitefish dip and the Cajun fries.
New wine available! Peppermint mocha is incredible. Imagine a glass of wine for desert.
The staff are awesome, treated us very nicely and even treated my friend on her birthday to snack. Also have a wonderful selection of wine.
The live music we heard from down the street attracted us in. Even though there was no more room in the patio for us with the music, they quickly accomidated for us. The owner was sitting and enjoying his evening with his family, but he got up and helped the waitress move in a table and chairs. Talk about service! Even though yhe 2 waitresses were slammed, I didn't even notice. They were available when we needed something. The view was beautiful and the drinks were great. We even got a pizza and artichoke dip that were TOTALLY worth it! Locals also were great to chat with here. If I am ever back to this area, I will come here again!!! :)
Absolutely the best pizza I've had in a long time as l add great service!
Beer was really good. I wanted to take some home but they were out of growlers..... and wouldn't go to the other bar across the street to get one from there. I left with no beer....
Love this place right across from the Locks!!
Good drinks.
I stopped in recently for a few beers. My first time at the new location. Very nice. I’ll have to try some food on my next visit. Ray goes above and beyond.
This place is absolutely outstanding, hands down the best place in town! Wine is amazing. Ordered just about everything off the menu and it was all amazing!! Very fresh, locally acquired meats, vegetables etc. the Morph Burger 2.0 was amazing, The Climax pizza was out of this world outstanding!! It was very fresh, crispy, and tasty! I sampled the Black Raspberry wine. Not a huge wine person. I bought an entire bottle to go it was that good. The spinach dip was one of the best I’ve ever had. You can’t go wrong coming here. Thumbs up this comment after you enjoyed coming here so others will understand how great it is.
Food and beer selection is ok. Nothing special but another place to eat in the Soo.
One of the worst breweries we have visited. They had 4 beers on tap with no discription or explanation by the bar tender. No pizzas were available for some reason so we had paninis which were very disappointing. The beer turned out to be disappointing as well. In this age of great breweries with great beer, the employees should take a field trip and see how the rest of the world does it.
Love the beer, and love the view from the outside upper deck!
We're avid collectors of growlers from various breweries across the midwest (246 and counting). Unfortunately we were unable to purchase one here because they couldn't fill the growler. When we asked to purchase an empty one and pay double for it, the manager said no because the owner's do not want them sold that way. After some nasty comments made by our party, the manager decided to engage us, she thought running after us and yelling about how rude we were was the best thing to do. Weak selection of wine and beer, here's a bad review for you!
Very quiet the night we visited so we had opportunity to discuss the wine with our server who was very helpful and enjoyable to talk with. We had their whitefish special. Delicious and more than ample. Veggies and potatoes were also delicious. Wine... Well we bought a few bottles. Really enjoyed our time here and will return the next time we are in the Sault.
Walked in to try some of their beer and wine, but couldn’t even think straight because I was asked what I wanted every 30 seconds. The woman seemed very scatter-brained and rude, which she had no reason to be since there was only one other table being served. I believe you go places to have an experience, and this one was a poor one. I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially visitors.
Lovely little place to stop for lunch and try a beer. Friendly staff and good food! Not badly priced considering the spot it is located
Stopped here last year in the middle of the afternoon while up north staying at a cabin. Bartender was very friendly and we bought a bottle of the Black Cherry Noir. Needless to say I finished the bottle during an evening cleaning the kitchen and had to go back to buy a few more to take home. Wish they shipped over state lines!
Seats were comfy. Pizza was delicious. Apple wine was great. Red Velvet wine was so good that I had to buy it bottled. Loved the taste and comfort, but did not like the look of the place. Reminded me of the community center in an old folks' home.
Smaller on the inside than expected but beer tasted GREAT, there was live music and friendly waitresses. Stop by if you get the chance!
Not bad but don't expect many dry wines.
The staff were very friendly! The service was a little slow but that is because it was so busy because of the I500, we have been coming for a few years now and this is the first time we have sat down and hung out here.
They were brewing when we were there love that smell great beer and friendly people
Don't be fooled by their website events on Saturday's in November. We were charged $12 for the $8 sangria
Nice place and great food. Found it by accident. Would go again if in the area
Great wine!
Good beer, good service and good food
Beverages only.... but they were good....
Fantastic place. Burgers are highly recommended and the beef is from the local butcher. Both the beer and wine are fantastic selections.
Loved the peach & apricot wine! Great people too!
Great paninis (I had the Reuben and my wife had the pesto). The beer is good as well. Only currently 3 choices (chocolate stout, ipa, and light) but I enjoyed the IPA and my wife enjoyed the stout. The prices were fair and the service was good. We sat on the patio which added to our experience. If we are in the area again we will def revisit.
Not great service and didn't have wine we tasted for sale. Name a little misleading
Good pizza and beer. Wine is decent but doesn't last long in the bottle. 1 free wine sample.
My husband and I are mug club members, even though we are over 4 hours away... We love the wine and the beer. Food is good too. Spin dip!!!! You can sit and watch the Freighters come through.... everyone is always friendly.
Great place for food and craft beer
Great, quick service everytime I've gone. Really friendly. Nice environment. I love dropping by when I'm in the area.
GREAT FOOD AND BEER!
Overpriced and not good pizza. Their pizza has really gone down in quality it seems. Got a 10” cheese and a 10” veggie pie and they were both just awful. Their sauce has a very distinct watery taste and the crust is very doughy and undercooked. Not good when the fast food pizza places like Little Caesars in town makes a better pizza.
There service was poor the burger was cold and all the bar tender was focused on was talking to her friends insted of tending to customer's
Skip this and go across the street to Soo Brewery.
The cherry wine is amazing! The female bartender yesterday was super nice but the bartender tonight needed some personality skills!
Got two pizzas tonight. One cheese and one veggie. We came here about a year ago and it was the best pizza ever but this time it wasn’t anything like we remember. Very bland. Service was friendly and quick though.
Had the Goldilocks and the stout. Both very good. Took a growler home. The pizza is some of the best I’ve had - highly recommended.
Great place
After many years of trying red beers from Michigan, Maggie's is still my favorite out of all. I do feel like some of the soo brew vibes were lost with the consolidation.
Pizza ???? is wonderful. I will be going back again.
Great food
Stopped in for some yummy pizza! Only complaint no pineapple. :)
Ordered dinner and they wouldn’t serve us wine with dinner. Would have been nice to know that before we spent $50 on dinner ( burger and salad). They won’t serve past nine. Not the place to go for a date night.
Asked for a beer menu, was told " we have an ipa and a blonde." Asked for a sample of cherry wine, was told "we only have a glass full in the bottle, so you can't have a sample" Food was pretty good, ipa and blonde, unremarkable.
I have to stop, no matter how short my time in the Soo is, a glass of their wine is perfect after a 4 plus hour drive. I love the company of the wait staff, the bar is relaxed and the burgers are really good. One of these trips I will try a dinner. I may even join the wine club because I always buy at least 4 bottles to take home.
What an outstanding place to eat! The service by Morgan was outstanding as well as the food! I recommend this place again and again!!!
Food and service were great. Loved seeing Jackie Rogers art work displayed!
Wine and beer are super good here! Stuff is amazing. Great views from the rooftop patio
I love their fruit wines.
Interesting wine. Good food. We were surprised to find them open on New Year's Day. Sault Ste Marie was very quiet that day but staff was in place and ready to serve. We found the pizza was good and fresh.
