Wonderful restaurant ! Our food was great, we had the sweet and sour cauliflower bites and they were amazing , perfect amount of crunch and sauce was delicious. For our mains we had the fried chicken sandwich and seasoned fries and the braised beef mac and cheese , SO GOOD !! Lastly , our server Charlotte was so kind and friendly and didnt hesitate to come and check on us and make sure we were happy . Will definitely eat here again and highly recommend coming here if you haven't!!

First time at the Gahan house. I ordered the beet salad to share with my partner in crime. It was amazing, each bite was a fusion of woody greens, creamy goat cheese nutty pecan and a light vinaigrette, one word AMAZINGNESS. Our mains were equally good fish taco and burrito bowl. Both were well prepared, came quick and tasted phenomenal.

We were a party of 4 on a Friday night. Small wait for a table which was expected. We ordered some apps which came promptly however were lacklustre. The crab dip was a very small portion. Even though we ordered our mains at the same time as our apps, we waited or over an hour for our meal. I ordered a burger which had 2 grilled cheeses as buns. Sounds great! The grilled cheeses were made from wonder bread and the patty was so small, I was halfway through the “burger” before I tasted it. I ordered their spicy fries with it but regular fries came. I never corrected the waitress since we were waiting so long. The fries were soggy. When will restaurants in Saint John learn that just because they put food on square plates, it doesn’t mean you can charge a high price for it. We had an app, 2 beer, a glass of wine, and 2 mains: $98.00. Won’t be back.

The service was excellent and so was the food and beer! I had a baked oyster with blue cheese and tomato, bacon wrapped scallop and some calamari that were all exquisite. I then really enjoyed the seafood jambalaya with mussels that was the perfect amount of spicy. All the while washing the food down with their fantastic Island Red and Iron Bridge crafted beers.

Great restaurant; great service. Our server noticed a wrapped gift at the end of our table and she inquired if someone was celebrating an occasion and we mentioned that it was my birthday. She returned at the end of our meal with a surprise complimentary chocolatey mound of deliciousness! A wonderful surprise and it just topped off a perfect meal. Highly recommend Gahan in Saint John. By the way... great beer!

Fast service. Waitress wasn't bad; could tell she knew what she was doing. I had a few things... side cajun chicken caesar salad, chicken was great, salad was pretty average. If they made their own sauce, it would be much better. Seafood chowder... I'm sorry, but it was the worst one I've ever tasted in my life.. I was shocked with it coming from a 5 star restaurant. Their little biscuit that came with it was very good, probably made there, it tasted just like the ones I make. Bbq cauliflower, my husband liked it. He also had a poutine and a burger. Poutine was great, and the burger was good too.

My experience at Gahan was good… I busted the restaurant with my partner and at the time it was not too busy. The waitress that served was welcoming to us the atmosphere was nice. We each ordered a drink and some oysters to start, both of which came in good timing. We then ordered our mains, which we did not expect them to take over an hour to come to us. Normally for a pub I wouldn’t expect it to take this long. I ordered nachos and by the time they were out some were soggy at the bottom and I left them untouched.

I've been twice in as many weeks, and I was super impressed both times!! First, I ordered off menu for my drink, a Long Island Iced Tea. It is the best I've had, so delicious that I broke my one drink minimum, I'm a light weight, both times I went and had two each time. One simply was not enough! I had nachos with chicken the first time, and they were so delicious and we'll dressed that was all we ordered, skipped an entrée all together. Tonight I ordered their burger, again a bit off menu. I ordered it without condiments, just bacon, lettuce tomato, cheese, and pickle. It was incredible!! Three cheers, indeed. The meat was perfectly prepared with just enough crunchy bits on the edge to be thrilling each time you had a bite. Their fries, mind blowing! Lots of those little crispy pieces that seems like they've been deep fried a couple times, I love those!! The fries are the perfect balance of crunch and soft, tender potato. This is my new favourite, the staff are as amazing as their food!

Usually really good, but tonight myself and one other friend ordered the Mac n Cheese. Wasn't a fan. Very bland and tasteless. The beer was good as always. Not to mentioned they should warn you about how hot the metal bowl is that the dish comes in. Almost got a bad burn off the bowl.

I came in here specifically to try the lobster roll and I was very disappointed. It was served in a small soggy piece of bread that wasnt even toasted right and it had a very small portion of lobster. I felt bamboozled because it cost $26 for a tiny bit of lobster on cheap bread. I'm not sure how the rest of the food is but I dont think I'd return again

The atmosphere was nice and staff were pleasant. We had the nachos with pulled pork and they were quite good I have to say. Overall it was a good experience except for a waitress who seemed to want us to leave as quickly as we could. She couldn't have just been overly attentive but it was kind of off putting. Overall recommend as I suspect this was an anomaly and not typical.

I am from Toronto, and there are only three restaurants that i know i will have to come back and visit and this place is one of them. I have never had mussels in white wine as amazing as this place makes them. it was soo good, that i finished the mussels and ask the server to pack up the broth so i can take it to my hotel for later. I have never had Brie before but if i were to choose aplace to try it, this place would be the spot. the blueberry jam on top was the perfect compliment with every bite. The oysters, now this was the first time i tried a baked oyster, but it doesnt seem like my the right fit for my taste. The Sangria was nice as well. The raw oysters were fresh and delightful and the staff are very nice. I would reccommend this place 1000 times over!

Fairly new addition to Saint John and I'm really glad they decided to open here. Staff were quick to take our order and very attentive during the meal. Quality was top notch. The peppers and pasta was delicious with just the right amount of spice which was mellowed by the cream sauce. The veggies in the dish were cooked perfectly and it was almost too much to eat but I managed to stuff myself as it was far too good to waste. Pricing is good compared to the amount of food you get. The menu has options to accommodate any level of hunger which makes this place a great stop if you just want snacks and drinks or a full meal. Check it out if you need a place to just go and relax with friends or a date.

My wife and I ate here tonight. I had the ribeye steak sandwich with a caesar salad and she had the chicken focaccia sandwich with sweet potato fries and we both got flights. Our waitress was attentive and gave us great service this evening. The food was delicious all around! The sauce for the sweet potato fries is DYNAMITE!! Can't recommend this place enough. Great food and great beer! Love it and will be back soon.

We dinned here as a party of 14 - which was obviously too much for the 5 servers standing around to handle. The service was extremely slow ( 15 min to even get water ) , food was mediocre for what we were charged, and the drinks left ALOT to be desired. We even had (1) child waiting 10 min after everyone else got their meals as they had forgot about her chicken fingers. Do not recommend and will not be returning.

Finally had a chance to check out Gahan House last night. Was impressed with the layout and decor. Comfy chairs and the tables aren’t crowded together. Showed up a few minutes before our reservation and were seated right away. Ordered drinks which came quickly and we were informed about a burger special they had going on. I ordered a “Cheese Louise” burger and my partner the seafood jambalaya. I give the burger 5 stars! The best burger I have ever tasted. A previous review was unsatisfied but let me tell you this thing was two meals in one. Two grilled cheese sandwiches as the bun, a large beef patty, a donair meat patty, onions, bacon, tomato, and donair sauce. The fries were okay nothing out of the ordinary. I am told that the jambalaya has a sufficient amount of seafood in it for the price. It was flavourful and well portioned. We stayed for a bit after we had finished and did not feel rushed out like at other places. Highly recommend this place for something different uptown.

Because we had a good experience there last year we decided to try this again. The same staff were there as last time: friendly, professional , cordial. The cook is a Creator: imaginative, daring; he had some interesting things on the menu. I tried the burger with pepperoni on it. Putting fried moderately sliced pepperoni on an already hot burgher was... Bold. I suggested to slice the pepperoni much thinner-- extremely thinner-- and by all means, to try again. As a non starch/potato man, I was impressed with the fries. My wife's salmon dinner was prepared differently than from the original recipe presentation at the Charlottetown Ghanan house. This creation also... was different. I told the staff that the cook is confident and daring and to not stop creating.

Very disappointed today. Found this restaurant with great reviews through Chop Chop promotion. Called yesterday and was able to get a reservation today at 1pm. Unfortunately, we showed up at 1 to find out they dont open on sundays until 3. I wish the friendly girl that took the reservation had told us. Now we will never know how their pulled pork is??!!

I should have written this review five visits ago but I was patient and wanted to observe a pattern before crying sour grapes. You know what Gahan house, you deserve this! Tonight you have become my most unlikely dollar splurging destination in Canada. If I have to look a particular way to win a window seat at your restaurant, with or without reservation, your Food and Brew better be in a position to command it. Such is not your reality! Your offerings are 'BLEH' to say the least! Yes, you heard it right! if I have to be specific, that award winning poutine of yours is nothing but a farce, crowned only through influence, not substance. Your burgers are a joke and your baked Brie is an insult to the senses. You may be a Maritime Icon but you must realize that your paying customer's perception is your reality. Overall I like this restaurant. However I ordered the nachos last time I went, and they really needa step their nacho game up. If its an extra 5 dollars to ad ground beef and 17.5 for a full sized nacho platter, I expect there to be alot of ground beef and cheese. Instead the nachos had a small ration of cheese and beef, but had been murdered with jalepenos and black olives. The proportions were all messed up. My morning dump burnssss from the jalepenos. Not cool gahan house.

First experience: Clean, warm, enviting environment. Pleasant and very attentive staff. We had a large group of 12 people and a myriad of food items were ordered. All orders received on time and correct. Quality and presentation were decent; only observation I have personally, is the menu prices are on the high end for what I would label, at the end of the day to be, average product, in terms of overall taste. No complaints. Merely observations.

Went with a group of 12 people service was sharp and satisfying, even with the large group. The atmosphere of the building is very traditional to the old uptown east coast feel accompanied by gorgeous art hung on the walls by various different east coast artists. I had the Pork Belly Sandwhich with a side of their house seasoned fries and fried Mars Bars with Belgian waffle sticks for desert, the entire experience including the food was easily 9/10; great portions, flavor and asthetic Will be back to try more of their delicious menu and see their micro brewery in the basement which is accessed from the inside of the building and can take you right out onto Water St.

First time here had seafood jambalaya ask if I could get it without mussels and get more shrimp. I was told I could but when my dish came it only had 3 shrimp . When I asked why I was told there were no substitute so I paid 20 dollars for 3 shrimp and a little sauce and lots of rice. Not very impressed will not be back

3rd Gahan House within a week. Charlottetown, Moncton and Saint John. As usual good food and Gahan beer. Had a flight, with stout, raspberry, beach chair and beacon blond. Husband had the beef melt and I had paper bag fish and chips. Great service.

Visited here in December 2017. Very excited to go however disappointed by the food. The food was not as good as expected. Paying extra for sweet potatoes and getting less then the amount of house fries at the same table not really acceptable. The quesadillas were dry and the potatoes lacked ingredients.

We decided to go here Saturday for lunch. The service was horrible, the food was over cook. this will be my last time time, 2nd time here and it was a disaster.The waitress once we said we didn't want anything to drink we said no we are find with just water, she change her attitude, we had to Waite for her to come back and then ask to an other waitress to take our order, once order was place the fish was the worst, then omg she never came to check us. she then came to take pmt, not friendly and not even a thanks for coming.

Butter chicken was disgusting and over priced. Waiter forgot our appetizer and then brought us out a "free" desert. Upon leaving the manager said happy birthday to our relative, when he replied that it was not his birthday the manager apologized then approached the server to ask why she had said it was his birthday to have the free dessert. Extremely unprofessional and akward for our group and the server for lying to the manager.
