This Winery corresponds to the category of Seafood restaurant.
Very good but very pricey.
Good food. Not inexpensive. Very small dining area - make a reservation.
Cozy spot. Great for 2-6 people. Would be tricky with a larger group. Tasty food for a reasonable price. Reservations can be made by phone but are usually not necessary.
fresh good oysters and clams, but service is lukewarm
(Translated) Very well (Original) Très bien
Make sure you make a reservation! This lil gem was booked but after the motorcycle ride we took, we took it "to go" and sat outside and enjoyed the fresh oysters. They were shucked right in front of us. Highly recommend the smalls! Amazing!!

Best seafood chowder. Need to book or may miss out.
Yummy seafood
The best place for fresh and EXCELLENT oyster. A must go when you visit PEI.
Wonderful oysters and mussels! Best ever, actually! Great to get them directly from the source.
OYSTERS from where look out the window and onto the Bay. Small 2nd floor seating area so get a reservation or go late. Food is excellent, staff are friendly, service is timely, and drinks are local. Perfect in every way.
Hidden gem of delicious seafood. This small wharf side restaurant was a delight to dine at. Friendly service, absolutely delicious food and oozing with charm and local character. A staple for every visit to PEI.
(Translated) Friendly people, fresh oysters, homemade smoked salmon, so good that we ordered a second service ... 400-pound tuna fishing is possible! on a boat named Pura Vida !!! The eponymous oyster. PEI craft beer too.
Fantastic
Fresh, tasty oysters that are better than any downtown restaurant!! Wishing I lived next door. Two thumbs up!!
Our first meal in PEI on our vacation and probably my favourite restaurant of the whole trip. Honestly, the best lobster roll sandwich I've ever had. You need a reservation, as it's not a very big place.
Wonderful little seafood restaurant on the harbour. The seafood chowder was delicious, next time I will try the oysters!
Delicious food and lovely service. It was busy when we got there but they sat us at a temporary table and pulled up an extra chair for us until there was a free bigger table. There service was fast. We had the mussels with house sauce - phenomenal, and the pan fried oysters, also delicious!
Food seems to taste better near its source, but that says little about an experience that's yours to discover
Great food and service....and view... But be sure to make a reservation
Very clean and polite people good prices
Eating oysters right beside the water they came out of is wonderful. Easy to miss this quaint restaurant, as it is on the second floor of an old fishing barn (main floor sells seafood) but worth finding. A must for seafood lovers.
Excellent food. Great atmosphere l. Friendly service.
Great spot, definitely hard hit by covid, atmosphere isn’t quite the same without the bar open for seating. Food used to be better, oysters are still amazing. Hopeful they’ll be back to full drink menu again someday, the oyster caesar was excellent.
The Oyster Barn was.closed for the.season when we arrived.on.Sept. 19
Came here for the oysters of course, we split a dozen large, they were very plump. We also had the chowder, it's distictive, different from other chowders, we both enjoyed it. The lobster roll was very ordinary.
A very small restaurant with good foods.
As fresh as fresh can be. Delicious, accommodating and friendly staff.
My spouse and I were visiting from Toronto and stayed at NB for a day and a half. We drove 2 hours to PEI in hopes that this restaurant would be open as we really wanted to try their oysters! Thank you for staying opened even on a statutory holiday! The oysters and little necks were fresh as hell, oh my gosh, probably the best in town. I didn’t give a full five stars as the waitress forgot to serve the second round of drinks to us (the restaurant wasn’t busy so, not sure what the mix up was).
Nice oysters and friendly staff.
Love when restaurants go above and beyond. The restaurant was full inside and was booked for the rest of the evening, so we asked to eat outside. They said they don't allow outside eating but made an exception for us with a small order (6 oysters and a large order of steamed mussels). The food was so good and we got to try the restaurant that we drove 40 min to get to. Love it!
Amazing setting! Fantastic service and chowder. Lobster rolls were a little disappointing. Maybe we let sit for too long while we ate the chowder? We will happily go back.
Great staff and great products
Delicious oysters and charming atmosphere
Fresh Oysters and beer!
Not very good. We order the oysters, fish taco, and the chowder. The oysters and fish taco were decent at best, but the chowder is terrible. Very, very watery with small scraps of seafood. We took one sip and just threw it out straight away. What a waste of $12 for a tiny cup. The portions are no great either for the price you pay. Indeed, as the other reviewers have stated, the staff seemed very nice. But let's face it, we didn't go there to make friends with the staff. We were there for the food. I'm being as generous with my comments as I can, and all I can say is this place is mediocre at best. This restaurant is very busy, but I believe it is only busy because there is nothing else nearby. I recommend you don't make a particular trip to visit this restaurant. If you are already in the area, then by all means pop in. But don't drive for an hour to go to this place.
Out of space sea food - fresh oysters! Cozy and charming place with an outstanding customer service. When in PEI - must visit to appreciate.
Incredible oysters. Very friendly and knowlegabe staff. I got a great private class on how they farm the oysters and other seafood. You definitely have to check out this place
Fresh seafood and a nice assortment of local beers. Friendly service in a charming, traditional venue. Scenic views.
Absolutely fabulous! Prompt friendly service. Delicious food. Beautiful setting. Reservations recommended as it’s a tiny place. If we lived on PEI, we’d be regulars.
With only six or seven small tables available, we were luck to get a table right away as the place soon filled up. If you have questions about oysters, muscles, clams quahogs and the like, this is the place where the live and breathe the stuff. Mapeque Bay has the best oysters hands down anywhere in the world and you'll get the best of them served here at the Oyster Barn. Fish cakes were delicious. Fish taco and scallops very nice too. Kids menu available for those too young to take down a fresh oyster.
A must visit! I dont think its possible to get fresher oysters, unless you catch them yourself. The place is cute, small and cosy. Best to reserve the table if you plan to visit. The village where it located is very picturesque.
Small quaint restaurant known for its selection of raw Oyster offerings. The Oyster Barn is located on the second level of a fisheries barn near the water on an operational fisheries wharf. The food does not get fresher than this. If you go, consider starting with their garlic lemon mussels and some seafood chowder. Their seared scallops are.delicious, however the serving size might be small with those with big appetites. I reccomend going with a small group of friends and sharing plates family style. Finally, call ahead.for reservations in peak season. Even if they are fully booked if you are staying near by consider calling in an order for pick up and bring it back to where you are staying or bring a blanket and eat take out on the grass by the bay. Enjoy.
(Translated) The pan fried oysters are really excellent! Nice view from the restaurant on the Malpeque quay (Original) Les huîtres « pan fried » sont vraiment excellentes! Belle vue du resto sur le quai de Malpeque
Excellent food, great service. I'll recommend mussels and fish cakes 100%. Oysters they look amazing and being located few meters from the fishing boats can't get any fresher. Thumbs up!!
Great food! Great view too especially with the window seat
This little Oyster Barn has the best mussels (house recipe) in all of Nova Scotia and PEI. Atmosphere is great and the view if your lucky will have some fisherman offload their daily catch while you eat. Only one window seat so best to make a reservation. Local beers are great as well! I’m glad we took the time to stop!
amazing oysters and mussels, probably the best I have ever had. definitely make reservations as it's a tiny place. super friendly service.
Great friendly service. Outstanding oysters!
Awesome
Best oysters in North America. Especially the small oysters !
Every item was fantastic!!! The Pan-fried Oyster Caesar salad was probably the best item, but the mussels were perfection (the small is 20+ mussels), and the oysters were obviously the best you can imagine. My Oyster garnished- oyster Caesar (drink) was also amazing - they use little to no salt in the rim, to compensate for the saltiness in the oyster cocktail. We bumped in to relatives of LMM while we were there. This beach is top tier as well, but make reservations here if you plan to eat around a “meal-time”.
Loved the concept but unfortunately it is very tiny 6 tables or so (?) My sister and I showed up at 5:30 on a Friday and weren’t able to eat there as they were fully booked the entire evening. Very disappointed because I planned the trip months in advance but didn’t think about making reservations so anyone that reads this review, please consider making reservations even if you think you are going at a non peak hour :-)
Pricey but delicious! Very small. Make a reservation if you can.
This place is so cute. Had to call for reservations. Got a dozen of the small and large oysters and they were so damn good. They also sell boxes of oysters takeout which I’m going to hopefully bring back to Toronto with me. Would definitely come back here again.
The food was amazing! Staff was very friendly. All around great experience !!!
Fantastic
Great food, great service and a lesson on how to grow, tell the age and most important how to eat oysters. We had the roasted mussel and the haddock. Both excellent
(Translated) Very nice little restaurant on the 2nd floor of a fish market. Excellent. (Original) Très joli petit restaurant au 2e étage d'un marché de poisson. Excellent.
Great mussel and oyster feed. Make a reservations, the place is small and popular.
(Translated) Impeccable! (Original) Impeccable!
Fresh malpeque oysters , medium size at 12 for $26. Plump and sweet. Also tried their Quahog clams were big too a bit briny but still good. Ceaesar salad had lots of bacon and parmesan croutons. Best to make a reservation as the place fits around 20 people
Would be nice to know when they are not open at all (its sept 5) before making the drive >:(
Excellent oysters, great beer! Make your reservations, busy spot!
Great pan fried oysters and mussels! Fresh oysters also amazing. Contrary to Google, they are open at 11 am during summer months.
My new favourite spot. Had a beer and a dozen oysters while waiting for food to take back to the beach. It was all delicious.
My favorite dining experience during our 3-day trip to PEI. Well worth the (beautiful) drive! By far the freshest/cleanest oysters we had all trip and the lightly fried oysters were spectacular. The mussels were also incredibly memorable - nice light flavoring and very fresh. Can’t speak highly enough about the Oyster Barn!
Delicious well prepared food.
Great food. Best mussels I think I've ever had. Cute atmosphere. A+ in my books.
Best oysters ever and we walked over from the campground nearby.
Freshest oysters ever. So full and juicy.
Reservation required. Great place to eat.
Excellent food! Small, cozy restaurant on the docks. The oyster Po' boy was delicious! The Cesar oyster salad was also great!
Not to be missed! Make a reservation, it's a small place and you don't want to be disappointed.
Excellent food???? Simple and authentic. Great atmosphere. A classic PEI experience.
Malpeque oyster are super juicy and fresh. Oyster barn rockefeller are crispy outside and soft inside. Best restaurant of pei. Small and cozy place, you might want to make reservations to have the romantic table by the window. Friendly staff. You can buy fresh seafood on the first floor.
Great selection of micro brews
stores great place to get fresh oysters, brought in from the boat. Small place so call a head and reserve a table or you might have to wait.
The Pan Fried Oysters here are amazing!!!! Absolutely worth going out of your way for but I'd recommend the park too. The view and atmosphere are great as well Scallops were delicious ???? Make a reservation by the window
Stopped in for lunch, the atmosphere is so nice and quaint, the house recipe mussels were amazing. The staff was very friendly, the food is great and so are the prices.

Last package of pepper mackerel, last piece of smoked salmon, end of season?
A Must if you are near.
What a quaint delicious place to eat with excellent seafood ...a must for anyone who loves oysters a la fresh or cooked along with other delicious sea food choices ....
What a treat to get to try the freshest oysters right where the magic happens. Also had the mussels. Everything was fresh, delicious, and the service was friendly and fast. Loved it.
Outstanding oysters! To die for!!
Absolutely amazing experience here! The place is very unassuming from the outside but settled right by the fishermens’ dock, you can’t get fresher oysters than these! We started with their homemade biscuits, which were delicious and soft and warm. Great choice! Next we had a dozen oysters, which were served with a variety of sauces, several made in house. You can watch the staff shuck the oysters right there in front of you! Everyone was so friendly and the food was great! I highly recommend making the trip!
Definitely a destination point in PEI
Very good food but little bit too pricy.
Best oysters, anywhere! Scallops seared to perfection. And the Strawberry shortcake was amazingly fresh and delicious. Not a negative thing to say about the Oyster Barn. Thanks guys, keep it up!
Just wow. Fresh and delicious. Seafood chowder, egg salad, mussels in house sauce, raw oysters... Everything was perfect
You'll go past the front market and up the narrow stairs to some great food. Obviously the mussels, class, and oysters were awesome! Local beers in tap earns extra points.
There was nothing not to like- wonderful atmosphere and delicious oysters presented beautifully!
Always fresh and delicious.
The restaurant is located on the second floor The main entrance is on the left side of the building. The restaurant is not handicap access. A dozen of large oysters are about 31. Oysters were very hood. The sea food chowder had a unique shrimpy taste with bits of crispy potato's as well as boiled potatoes. Lobster roll was not as good as others we had in PEI. The dining room is cozy and charming. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. The pace is relaxed and slow, our lunch was 1.5 hours.
Malpeque oysters are on the menus of fine restaurants across eastern North America. Get them here fresh off the wharf in this cozy, popular restaurant. We ordered take out from the raw bar (since we had a couple vegetarians in our group) and on the picnic table out behind we slurped back some exquisite large Malpeque oysters and Quehog little neck clams, all expertly juiced up. Delicious.
Amazing prices for oysters that were caught within the day. Everything was reasonably priced and delicious with a great view. There's even oysters and other fish for sale if you want to bring home to shuck. Highly recommend.
Interesting place
Very good food.
The best oysters in Canada. Excellent food and service. Chowder was wonderful. Everyone should go for oysters.
Cute, charming, great food for a great price.
If it was possible to rate this place 10 stars I gladly would. If you are serious about eating fresh seafood when in P-E-I then you gotta come to this restaurant. Set in a gorgeous small village and nested in a tiny fishing harbour, this gem is going to blow away any oyster, clam and mussel connaisseur. The seafood is FRESH like you've never experienced before anywhere! You will never eat anything that was fished more than a day. Service is super fast and so friendly. Everything on the menu is to die for but do try the oysters. They are absolutely perfect. A very small place but big on freshness and quality. An absolute must when in P-E-I
The best fried oysters!
Nice place for seafood lovers
Small but quaint establishment. The oysters and mussels couldn't be any fresher and come from the bay in front. The fish tacos were delicious. My wife loved the mussels, our teenage boys loved the chicken wrap and salad and our 9 year old daughter liked the grilled cheese. The deserts were delicious. Service is fast, friendly and excellent. I'd come back in a heartbeat.
Very good food quality price! Had the lobster roll, nice and refreshing sandwich!
We were the first ones there and got the best seat in the house by the window. You could watch the boats coming in with their haul. The oysters were great and the house mussels were the best I've had anywhere. Great service to top it off.
Excellent food. Probably one of the best in PEI. Fresh out of the sea, the oysters and the seafood chowder are a must-have. However, space is small and limited, do not arrive late!
Dishes too small.

Best place to eat out by seafood!
Great local seafood, practical right off the boat!
What a great restaurant. Food is amazing and staff are very attentive.
Awesome fresh Oysters. Cozy small place with a very authentic feeling in a fishing village barn and a view of the fishing boats in the harbour. They have a good selection of some Island beer too
Omg oysters 3 ways and each so so devine! We had them raw, we had them pan fried with the most perfect light salad that was so pretty and delicious (and much needed by this point is the trip!) and foamy oysters Rockefeller. The last two were new forms of eating oysters to my friend and I and we were both really amazed with how much we loved them. After eating oysters in a land locked big city, it was an amazing treat to eat them by the Bay they were grown. Just phenomenal!
Excelent choice for oysters in several forms. Raw baked fried.
Doesn’t really get much better. The Mecca of Oysters.
The oysters are as fresh as they can be and the accompaniments are excellent. A great local place.
Can you believe these guys were shut down for the season (mid-september) yet they welcomed me into the back of their Shack and fed us about 10 oysters and didn't want any money? They just wanted me to come back again!
It was a pleasant surprise. We accidentally came here (by mistake) and found out this is the place on Lonely Planet, and we were lucky to have gotten a (only available) table without reservation. (make sure you make reservation!) The food was absolutely amazing and staff was friendly! The mussels are my favourite!
The food was excellent and the staff was friendly.
Food is delish and fresh. Service was also wonderful. What else can you ask for?
Great service and awesome food
When in Malpeque, have Malpeque oysters and quahogs! Small location, with a seafood market on the ground floor and restaurant on the second floor. Not wheelchair accessible.
Amazingly fresh oysters! So yummy. We took them to go to bring back to our campground and they were shucked perfectly and still with the sea brine. It's too bad that the seafood chowder was discusting. Too watery and tasteless. Lobster roll was average. Stick to the oysters cuz they're amazing!
Excellent mussels and salad. Great friendly service.
Great food. Haddock was amazing. Oysters great. Not the world’s cheapest place, but the service was top-notch and super-friendly. Perfect little dining room with a great vibe.
Expensive!
As good as it gets
Always excellent food and oysters!
Have enjoyed eating here twice this summer with family both times. Everyone loved their food. The staff is gracious, they produce their own vegetables and the scallops are tender, moist and delicious. Best I have ever had!
Freshest and best Oysters around with a great view of Malpeque Bay. Very friendly staff.
Food was good portions are little small. Service was excellent and served in a timely manner.
Oysters are so fresh and tasty and they gave local beers. A great cute place to stop!
Amazing food I got the lobster roll and baked potatoes it was excellent. The house recipe mussels are amazing.
We enjoyed every fresh bite from sea.
Can't get it any Fresher than from the harbor downstairs
Freshest oysters I've ever tasted!! With a view to match :)
Great restaurant on the wharf. Oysters and home made potato salad and dessert.
Small seafood restaurant located right by the docks. Had excellent, fresh quahogs with a large sampling of hot sauces made on PEI. The mussels with house sauce were delicious, salty with butter and a hint of garlic. Mrs. had the pan fried haddock which she took with a side of baked potato and greens. Our daughter had the grilled cheese and stole some of my mussels. All around a great experience.
Absolutely perfect place! The oysters were incredible.
Superb oysters, great view of the harbour, lovely folks!
Small place with great seafood
Oh. Em. Gee. The pan fried oysters are to die for. I don't even know what else to say. Try them for yourself. And get the large!!
(Translated) Nice place near the port. The fish taco was very good. Welcoming staff. (Original) Bel endroit près du port. Le taco de poisson était très bon. Personnel accueillant.
Food was good but the oysters and myssels were small and the food was expensive in my opinion considering they are harvested here.
I ordered the seafood chowder. It was a VERY small bowl and I paid almost $17 for it. The taste was good but there was next to NO seafood in it. I will not be eating here again.
Awesome!
Food and atmosphere was excellent! Fantastic view of the boats in the wharf as we ate! Oysters and mussels were fresh, and the plates of our main course were beautifully presented! Would recommend and will be going back!
The food is amazing. Oysters, mussels galore! All manner of seafood. Make a reservation!!!!!
Great oysters! Tried em for the first time and loved them. Fish tacos aren't served in tortillas but in pita, which is my only complaint. Nice and quaint spot close to the ocean. Prices are a bit high for PEI but food is good!
A absolutely fresh and spectacular oyster and clam experience right at the source. Can’t get better that this.
Excellent food, very friendly staff. Reservations are highly recommended.
Great staff and great service
The oysters are all the rave, as are the scallops. Kid menu available as well. Cozy place with only a few tables and a nice view of the docks. Friendly and efficient service, though the staff looked visibly tired with the non-stop arrival of customers. Reservations recommended as there is a long wait for those without (we waited 45 minutes).
Here's a consolidated review with opinions from my table mates who had this meal with me. My friend was served a fish sandwich on small convenience store buns, with an even smaller piece of fish and two measly ice cream scoops of potato salad, though the salad was decent. This was a $9.99 meal. I had the fishcakes, two small ones composed mostly of (thankfully local) potato, and a small amount of fish. They were tasty, I was just irritated at the price for a tasty potato cake with fish flavouring. $10.99 Left no tip, for these prices given the food quality and our server's inability to feign interest. The only saving grace of this place was the oysters. You can really tell that they are fresh, free of any fishy taste and a buttery richness that's fantastic. Priced about $1.60 each for small ones. It appears they cater very well to tourists, and although I actually was one, I don't appreciate being taken for a fool. The waitress serving us was uninvolved and was fairly unhelpful, she could not tell us what the base of their special mussel sauce (cream, tomato, wine?), and disappeared till the very end of the meal (presumably hoping we'd order more overpriced food due to the unfair portions). Note that the attached photo has one of the fish cakes eaten but otherwise is what I received. As you can see the owners may want to serve food on smaller plates to fill that white space...
Anyone who likes oysters should know about the delicious Malpeque oyster. We were so excited to eat at this Lonely Planet recommended restaurant at this bivalve's birthplace. My first thought upon seeing the shabby exterior of the Oyster Barn was: great, since they don't spend much money on maintenence, they must be prioritizing their efforts on providing customers with great food quality and value. Boy, were we disappointed. We waited an hour for food. $24 for 12 med sized oysters. Why is it cheaper buying these oysters back in Toronto, 2000kms away from the source? No buck a shuck here in the motherland. Over $15 for a po boy sandwich with about 4 pieces of gritty clams that locals can readily dig up at the beach. Almost $20 for about 3oz of lobster meat on a hot dog bun. I think I saw more meat washed up on the shore at Cavendish beach. For desert they charged us for an extra dozen oysters which we did not order. The staff were friendly and coudos to them for keeping a straight face while knowing how overpriced and low quality the food they served was. The one single bathroom, was clean but the wait for it in this 6-8 table restaurant was obviously long. Come to PEI for the beautiful scenery and friendly people but I would avoid this tourist trap.
OMG! I could eat Oysters all day. The pan fried oysters were to die for. Melissa was our server. What a sweetheart. Thank you for the Malpeque beer glass????. Andrew shucked my dozen raw Oysters. Loved the sweet rhubarb sauce that was with it. Very friendly staff. We hope to return before we leave the island in a week. So glad we showed up when we did. It was quiet. Such a quaint little place and apparently you are safest to make a reservation.
We didn't eat there but the menu looked delicious and reasonable $ we got mussels just steamed them with red wine and salsa sauce ,DELICIOUS
Great prices on tasty oysters and mussels available to purchase to go. Friendly service and very helpful!
Pan fried oysters and Ceasar salad was amazing.
Get a reservation very small but worth the wait
(Translated) Great welcome, the dishes have correct quantities, the setting is very friendly, family, the view on the port is great, a nice little corner, we eat well for cheap thank you (Original) Super accueil, les plats ont des quantités correct, le cadre est très convivial, familiale, la vue sur le port est super, un petit coin bien sympa, on mange bien pour pas cher merci
