My wife and I have been fortunate to be able to travel many times to south Asia and have eaten at many east Indian restaurants.. As surprising as it is, the best meal by far, is the lunch we had today in this beautiful place in Powell River BC. Anyone that is either fortunate enough to live in Powell River or just visiting, needs to experience the perfect, authentic Indian cuisine that they serve.. We will definitely be coming back..

The Royal Zayka's dedication to India is impressive! Even the cutlery is shipped directly from New Delhi, India. Vegetarian options are also available and represent a good variety. If you're looking for a wonderful experience in authentic Indian food the Royal Zayka in Powell River is it!!! AND another terrific quality we discovered : English is spoken here, making the service exemplary!!

Just left due to the waitress being usless. Went out to enjoy my Wifes BIRTHDAY and asked for a high chair for my baby. I had to go find it as this task i guess is not in her job description. Then when i asked the waitress how it worked she just said she didnt know and walked away... Its not safe for babies as my son nearly went through the bottom of it. Oh yeah and the time before we ordered to go and they got our order totally wrong... I am also assuming all the 5stars are from people who have never eaten indian food outside of powell river... Anyway iguanas saved the day

We went there while visiting Powell River. One of us required gluten free. Nearly the whole menu could be gluten free. Our table had a number of dishes - Samosas, Veggie Pakora, Butter Chicken, Lamb Curry, Palek Masala, Basmati Rice, Naan, Chai Tea. Wow! Just wow! It was delicious. I live in a city with a lot of Indian restaurants, and this little restaurant easily made some of the best Indian food I've had. It's pricey, but worth the treat.

I thought the food and the service were both good but the pricing is a bit off base. A butter chicken meal for $24 is pretty absurd, especially when they're only giving you 6 chunks of tandoori chicken. I won't be going there for lunch ever again, that's for sure. Perhaps buffet night would be the only way to get your moneys worth.

Delicious food! Great service. We ordered the chef's special platters to share between 3 people and it was just the perfect amount of food. The chef's platter comes with 2 meat and 1 veggie curry, salad, rice and tandoori chicken. Everything was exceptional. So flavorful and perfect level of spice. I definitely recommend this place and will definitely be a regular.

Food wasn't awful, but a serving of palaki paneer and naan was$18.00, no rice, nothing. I was told that a plate of rice, 2 entrees and naan would be $45.00. Seriously!!! The naan and Palak paneer was tasty, but small. Hard to recommend!

Worst kind of a food and service was given to me in this restaurant. The food didn't seem to be freshly prepared and the servers were rude and negligent towards their duty. The prices are also very unreasonable when compared to what the place offers and the ambience is also very dim. Go only if you have extra money and time to waste for nothing.

Was going there because it was pretty good for a bit. started going a lot, food and timing was getting worse through time. Last time I went there (last week) they told me it would be an hour and a half and they made me wait even longer when I got there. took it back to my place and it tasted rushed and not very good. Rice portions are also pretty small small

Although the food was really good, it took about an hour and 15 minutes from the point we ordered to when we received even just our appetizers. It was about one hour and 40 minutes until we received our mains. I know it was a busy Sunday night, and although our server was very kind, we arrived and ordered well before any other tables in our section. The table next to us arrived and ordered after us. They ate, paid, and left before we even got our appetizers which was frustrating. We would have really appreciated an explanation why the food took twice as long as others in our section. I assume they forgot to punch in our order, but receiving an honest reason and a discount would have made the wait more bearable. We totally understand mistakes happen, we have worked in the service industry before, but just at least some more transparency would have been nice!

I have eaten in a lot of East Indian restaurants but Royal Zayka surprised me with wonderful flavors and great service. I loved the cucumber salad, the chana masala and OMG the Palak Paner was perfect! Highly recommend this place for a great meal to any visitor.

This is definitely a gem in Townsite. We were really impressed with the food here. We tried 2 different kind of homemade naan (garlic and coconut) nd they're simply out of this world. They are just as enjoyable on their own without dipping into a sauce. We were also very happy with the Mango Curry Lamb and Curry Mussels we ordered.

Super happy we chose to stay at the Old Courthouse Inn as we were able to order takeout from Royal Zayka which is literally 100 metres away! The vegetable briyani is one of the best rice dishes I’ve ever tasted, and the chickpea curry was excellent. Coconut stuffed naan for dessert was pretty amazing. Stuffed naans were a bit messy to eat; nevertheless they were both delicious. My only criticism is they neglected to ask me what spice level we wanted the curry so we got mild, when we would have ordered medium. Will definitely come back and would love to try their buffet. Powell River became a better place to us because of this restaurant!!

We happened upon the Royal Zayka while exploring the Old Townsite of Powell River. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals - the vegetarian lunch special and the Bollywood Fish & Chips. The lunch special was a very large meal with 3 curried selections, salad, rice and ample naan. The Fish was seasoned and battered and the home cut fries were also seasoned and were served with a tasty sauce. This meal for two was under $35 (with 15% tip). The restaurant maintained Pandemic protocols and offered the option of covered outdoor seating. The service was very good and though the building was 'rustic' it was clean.

I spent over a month in India recently and the food I’ve had at Royal Zayka has been as good or better than anything I had in India, definitely authentic and I recommend this place. The menu is extensive but the chicken curry and plain naan bread are so tasty that I haven’t tried too many other dishes. Chicken Briyani was also wonderful and I’ve been there with a group and everyone loved it. Make sure to specify how much spice you want.

Truely Indian flavour, i have tried lot of Indian restaurants but i must say this is best so far. Owners were so friendly and they allowed us to dine in during their closing hours which was the best.
