Viking Strong

The Rodmay is a beautiful old historic hotel pet friendly and reasonably priced. I loved all the old furniture and photos. The owner went above and beyond making sure we were warm and comfortable during our stay. All the ferries were cancelled due to a storm and after a long stressful weekend it was very nice to be able to get the room back at the last minute without a reservation. We will definitely stay there again in the future.

Cute & cozy, very old with character & if walls could talk I bet there'd be stories! Clean enough for what it is, decent price for a pet friendly place to spend the night. Beautiful building for photographs.

The staff I dealt with were very friendly and accommodating, and the hotel is a neat old heritage hotel. Unfortunately that's about all can say good about it. The hotel is in serious need of modernization. The room I was in didn't have a fridge or microwave, I was given a fridge upon requesting one. But there's not much point except to keep drinks cold, as I was told I couldn't cook in my room and couldn't have a microwave. The bed felt like a box spring and had to use the pillows under me just to make it work. So needless to say I didn't get a good night's sleep the entire week I was there before moving to another hotel. The hotel is also noticeably haunted. there is a feeling in the air you could cut with a knife kind of like a fizzle/ crackling energy that woke me every night/morning around 330-415 am. And could sometimes hear a child running around the hallways upstairs in the closed off part of the hotel. The rooms are clean but musty and old. The wifi signal is poor as well so was waiting for things to load constantly. There is only one corner store and a vegetable market to get any food or your forced to eat out. At least there is a liquor store on the property so that was convenient. Would not recommend this hotel.

Beds were like concrete, room was so hot that it made it hard to sleep. No AC just a fan that blew hot air. The shower was bad, you either got burning hot water or freezing cold water, no in between. The wifi didn’t work in the rooms, only in the lobby. Overall pretty bad stay.

This is an old unkept hotel that needs much work. Things dont work. Smells musty. Toilet sticks. Lots of ants. Very warm room at night and with the window open you smell the mill all night. This was defineately not as portrayed in the advertising.

Nice hotel, too bad it's just in front of the paper plant. But the staff was great, they waited for us till 1am to open the door for us, followed up before we arrived, etc etc...Good professional and responsible business practices that are harder to find on the West Coast.

Good room and shower especially after a long hike! Very functional and as expected for the price. No problem with cleanliness.

Terrible, staff didn’t even know what to do when we checked in as they also run the liquor store. Absolutely disgusting rooms, uncleaned and rotting fruit in the kitchen as well. Definetly would not recommend staying here or even looking in the first place. TLDR: crusty old room and bad service Would Definetly recommend looking elsewhere in the Powell river for accommodation.
