Awesome! Best pork I've had in a long time. View of the ocean is amazing. Everything dish is done to perfection. Beautiful restaurant.
Great place! Food was excellent and service was amazing!
Amazingly great food and views! The beer on tap was fresh. And the staff very friendly, polite and accommodating! Reservations highly recommended!
Food is excellent, atmosphere is great. All round very enjoyable experience.
My family and I had wonderful meals served by a great staff. You haven't lived until you have dined here!
Amazing views and one of the best seafood meals I've ever had. Staff were amazing, the executive chef Dave was incredible. Everything was incredible and reasonably priced.
Wonderful food, service, decor & view. A jewel of a restaurant.
A must stop if in Lund. Few restaurants have: great view, food service, music and all round great vibe. Owners and staff where top shelf.
Last minute decision to call and get reservations, was neat to hear they had a buffet and live music that night. Excellent food all night with great live music.
You won't find finer food or view
Awesome view, food was ok
Not the same quality as it was years ago ????
Amazing location with views up the Okeover Arm towards Desolation Sound! The service is welcoming and lovely. Garlic bread was superb and mushroom soup was delicious. Stay away from the mediocre Wednesday night seafood platter (bleh) and stick with the a la carte menu.
Great service and excellent food as usual
This place serves what I think is the most amazing food I have ever eaten. the service was also excellent. If you are near Lund, you have to go here.
Had a great experience at the Laughing Oyster. I turned up to my reservation *three hours* early as I was camping nearby and needed to get some work done. They were amazing about accommodating me (when they really didn’t have to be). While working I had a couple of drinks - really enjoyed their tropical mule cocktail. When I finally wrapped up emails I sat on their cute patio with friends, enjoying a stunning sunset, really great service, and superb food. Thanks again Laughing Oyster!
Service was excellent!!! Staff very friendly! Ambiance was wonderful!!!! Food was incredible!!!
A lovely dining experience. Our mixed seafood plates were perhaps a little over-sauced but the fish was all perfectly cooked and the veggies on the side were excellent.
The food was good BUT... The owner is a jerk to his staff and rude to customers. Big fish, little pond syndrome! I will not return. My friends dining with me will not return. Give this place a miss.
Perfect view! Perfect location! Live music and awesome food
I love this place!
So good. Always so good. We've been coming as long as the business has been operating and it has never disappointed. Buffet is outstanding!!! Something for everyone. Go there!
Good food, expensive, some attitude. Lovely location.
(Translated) The crispy chicken was perfect! (Original) Das Crisp Chicken war perfekt!
Amazing location. Food was spectacular. View was lovely. A very busy restaurant so I found it a bit noisy.
Good food. Very expensive. A bit pretentious. Beautiful view.
Wonderful food with wonderful view!
Bad servers
Not impressed with the Wednesday platter. The other food was excellent.
Wonderful food in a beautiful setting looking out over the water.
Would like to have more opportunities to get out there. Always worth the effort and price. Love the BBQ pork and salmon.
Excellent customer service and food!
Outstanding food and service with a lovely view.
The food was delicious, the view amazing, and they were extremely helpful in making our dinner plans work. We will definitely be back!
I really recommend this wonderful restaurant! Dave was super accommodating of my group of 8 after a miscommunication when booking due to bad cell service. The food was perfect, the view was stunning, and the service was top notch. Good value for money when you consider portion size and the location. A perfect treat after spending 3 tiring (but amazing!!) days on a backcountry kayaking trip around this beautiful area.
Wish I lived closer. The Laughing Oyster is my idea of perfection; food, surroundings, service. Just great!
My wife and I celebrated our 17 anniversary in Powell River, and enjoyed the seafood buffet at the Laughing Oyster in Okeover Arm on one magical evening. There was plenty of food available, good variety as there were non-seafood options, it was all prepared superbly as well. The wait staff were very pleasant and helpful, and David Bowes (owner/Chef) is a very personable individual. A musician shared the patio with us and the music/songs were very fitting for the situation. The photo I uploaded is of the view from the patio. The only unpleasant aspect to theis whole experience for me is that the restaraunt is quite crowded and is difficult to navigate for persons who have mobility issues. None the less, the whole experience is very much so worth the 20 minute drive from town.
Excellent cuisine. An abundance of veggies and perfectly cooked fish
Superb restaurant, excellent friendly service and a lovely meal exceeding our expectations Can't recommend this restaurant enough
This is the perfect combination of incredible views and fantastic food. There was live music - a beautiful and talented singer-songwriter, Aude Ray - which enhanced the experience to sublime.
Great meal and service. Food was exceptional.
had the applesauce braised pork chop. Oh my god. It was perfectly seasoned, and the applesauce was not too sweet so as to drown the taste of the pork. For appetizers we had the Calamari and clams, also very high quality and tasty. The view from the restaurant is also amazing. Very well done, bravo.
Great food, stunning views of Okeover Arm. Service was attentive. This restaurant is a must for foodies.
This is the most delicious food in the entire town. They have something for everyone and if they don't Dave will make you something special.
I cannot think of another place that can do it better. Food fit for Royalty.
Nice view, good seafood.
This is a gem of a find! Highly recommend! Fresh, high quality food. Excellent service. Friendly, helpful chef, owner, and staff! Their genuine passion about quality food and service shone through! Everything was delicious, tasty, and cooked to perfection! (My favorite was the steelhead salmon.) It was a Wednesday which was their Seafood and Bbq Pork and Angus Beef night. We were enroute back to Powell River from Lund after a day of mtn biking so not dressed for the occasion, but decided to check it out for another day as we heard great things about the Laughing Oyster. It was very busy but the young lady who greeted me went out of her way to get us in. She said not to worry about dressing up (even though it was white table cloth.) Non-pretentious atmosphere, and great vibes dining lakeside! (And lovely entertainment as well). This was our first time there and will definitely be back!
Great food great people great location
We had the buffet, it was excellent!
The proprietor is very welcoming, the staff are nice (if maybe a bit too casual), and the food is pretty decent. Their oysters are incredibly delicious and fresh. Their crispy oysters leave a bit to be desired.
A gem Put on your list. Don't let the white table cloth fool you. Rode my motorcycle up. Finally somebody that knows how to cook calamari. Food and view to die for.
Excellent atmosphere and amazing boulongoise
We arrived by boat August 21 to this highly recommended restaurant, which did not disappoint. Perched overlooking Malaspina inlet, you immediately notice the owner's fabulous Dahlia flower gardens used for the dining tables. For boat arrivals, there is a government dock. It is recommended that you arrive before 11 am to secure a spot. Well maintained with great staff. The restaurant is surprisingly large with a great deal of charm. You can see how much work the owners put into making this a unique experience. We ordered the wild mushroom soup which was over the top (although others raved about the seafood chowder) and an excellent oyster appetizer that was served with warm bread to soak up the sauce. My husband had a grilled chicken dinner salad that looked like it would feed six people, and I ordered the seafood bowl. Both were absolutely wonderful. We spent time later that evening trying to figure out the ingredients for the salad. Live entertainment by Scotty was appreciated by all. That evening guests came from worldwide to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. We ended our meal with sticky toffee pudding, which we would recommend and two pots of tea. The service was excellent in every way. The meal cost $92.00 in total which we felt was reasonable for the high quality of food and location. Thank you to the owners for creating a special ambiance in this breathtaking location. Neil and Shan Cormie, Victoria, B.C. ⚓️
Best food.ever!!
Amazing views and high quality food.
Great Food excellent service beautiful views
We were only going to have lunch! So amazing we booked that evening for the Wednesday Buffet and celebrated the end of 2015 with the best of BC seafood, culinary arts, and wine. A Sunshine Coast must do experience!!!
Excellent food and a wonderful view of the ocean. Highly recommended!
I have never eaten here, it was delicious.
Great food and live music. Wonderful!
Food is incredible and presented very formally. View is breathtaking and the service was fantastic. Great night out, this restaurant does everything!!
Found hair & grime on 2 of our plates, server messed up our servings, and put onion on my grandma’s meal when we specifically asked not to because of her allergy. Quite disappointing because the view & music are nice. Food is just alright. Don’t recommend.
Meal and view was excellent, especially the blackberry cheesecake.
This place... 5 out ot 5. I had with the jalapeno muscles and the wild shrimp linguine and it was absolutely amazing. They let us sample the crispy oysters???? delicious. The view of the water out on the patio is breathtaking and the place has beautiful landscaping. The staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, and entertaining. Overall a place I'll definitely come back to.
Good restaurant with amazing water front view
Great food, excellent service, live music, beautiful views. Awesome!
Great food, awesome service, and beautiful view
Everything about this restaurant was nothing short of superb. The wait staff were so friendly and accommodating to our admittedly high maintenance requests. The owner and servers were so fun we felt like we were at a friends place. Then, there was the view. Exceptional. One of the more beautiful patio views in the area. The food was some of the best seafood I’ve had in some time. Overall, it was a 10/10 experience across the board: food, ambience, view, and the price was also incredibly reasonable. Thank you so much to the owner and team for making our honeymoon so memorable!
Wonderful friendly atmosphere and the food was expertly done. Every bite delicious!
Amazing Food and fantastic service with a amazing view
Great food and friendly staff but abit spicy on the steaks
Been there three times some years ago on our trips to Lund, Savary Island and Powell River. During one of the visits my co-worker was impressed by the views but he wanted an Alberta style steak as he is a large portions type of guy. This is a seafood restaurant serving fresh local seafood from the local fishermen. The owner got him the large perfected steak, and that made him want to bring his wife there all the way from Vancouver. Maybe he never did but my wife enjoyed the food, the good cake, and the views from the terrace. Five stars from me even when it was rainy. Thought of making a trip in the area just for that place, it seems that I have to wait till the covid restrictions ease for everyone.
(Translated) Delicious food and great location. (Original) Lækker mad og fantastisk beliggenhed.
Read the amazing reviews, had to stop. The reviews didn't do this special place justice. Only a visit will accomplish this. We stopped in the afternoon for a couple of cocktails and appetizers. When we arrived one of the owners was playing guitar and singing to a group of folks that had docked at the marina below. We were thrilled. Also we were invited back the following evening for dinner and a free slice of birthday cake. The food was outstanding, the views are breathtaking and the hospitality was second to none! I cannot say enough. You will not be disappointed even amidst the amazing fresh culinary experience in this entire area. This is exceptional!
Fabulous as usual! Never disappointed!????
Wednesday night seafood buffet is excellent. It's hard to beat the view, and the staff are friendly and attentive.
Meal was great and the staff is excellent.
My favourite restaurant. I make sure to visit every time I'm in the area. Especially if it is a Wednesday night.
Great Place great food
Amazing food, absolutely delicious, that's all i can say, oh and the restaurant has a good view also!
Best staff ever. Great food. Great atmosphere.
Always great food and service. And live music too! Overlooking the dock on Okover Arm makes for a romantic evening.
Beautiful location and great food. The service was excellent and we felt that staff of this venue took really good care of our whole family. Everything we ordered tasted great and the visit was very pleasurable in every way.
Great view of the water! Patio dining, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, food is even better. Seafood chowder and chicken burger was amazing! Better to eat here than at Lund!
Awesome food, music and ambience. We went on a rainy night and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere.
A thoroughly enjoyable time at the area's finest eating establishment.
Three years later and still fantastic. The place was packed as usual, but the food and service were spot on! Make a reservation so you don't miss out.
Beautiful view, delicious food, and always friendly staff. Definitely recommend!
(Translated) The oyster was delicious. The staff service was pleasant. (Original) オイスター美味しかった。スタッフの接客が、気持ち良かった。
Lovely food great service fantastic views
Wow did we laugh at the laughing oyster. Food was amazing and the portions are abundant! We sailed in down the inlet from Desolation and were surprised to find world class wine food. And to round it out we had two guitar minstrels that made our night magic. Tables were cleared and we danced and closed the place. Order the bisque and the halibut. Chase it down with some Burrowing Owl Sauv Blanc and enjoy the sunset. Highly recommended for boaters!
Beautiful location
The seafood platter was pretty darn delicious. All of the items were seasoned nicely or had a tasty sauce to go on it. I will admit I wasn't totally full after but I do have a big appetite. My mom had the spinach salad which I finished and that was pretty disappointing but overall the view is great and they have some awesome menu choices. For a once in a while splurge place I'd say this is the spot.
This isbone of those remote gems. A great place. Great view and great food. Do not pass this on up if you are in the area.
Great service and oysters were severved with unique sauce
Great food, view, and staff. The owner Dave is engaged, and cares about every guests experience. My wife is celiac, and he made sure to point out everything on the menu that he could adjust to accommodate her. 8 of us ordered many different seafood entrees, and all were fantastic. I had the Halibut. Will definitely be back.
Excellent food. Too smoky to enjoy the view.
Great place, really nice food. Tried the Spicy Seafood Grogg.... Sooooo nice. My wife andbher sister had the warm seafood salad and loved it.
Verry good food
Service, Food and ambiance is the best! Wednesday is Seafood Buffet. Sunday's buffet is to die for. The top chef and owner Dave Bowes is at hand to carve.
Great food and atmosphere
Space is small , expensive food but very tasty and a view to enjoy.
Excellent views! We don't eat seafood much but fish and chips and burger was great!
Good as always. Never been disappointed. A gem of a restaurant. I make sure I go at least once every time I visit Powell River. Honestly, it ranks up there with restaurants I’ve been to in NYC, Paris, London, Tokyo and Toronto. Additionally the view from the patio is one of the best.
Very disappointing table with a wonderful view of the parking lot + a basic shrimp Caesar salad. Service was prompt and oyster appetizer was enjoyable. Overall experience - certainly room for improvement.
Great food, great service and very friendly people, including owner and staff.
Favourite restaurant on the lower and upper Sunshine Coast hands down. Servers we recognize year after year. Owner is a great chef. And that view! Dog friendly for well behaved dogs in the garden is a bonus. No barking for you! So glad Covid restrictions have been eased and the Laughing Oyster is once again open. So happy the see the wait staff and owner again!
Great food and wonderful scenic location.
Put this restaurant on your bucket list! We missed our ferry over and weren't going to arrive till after the restaurant was closed. We phoned to cancel our reservations and the owner (Dave) not only kept the restaurant open for us but made us dinner too! This was the best meal I have ever eaten. Just an amazing experience and service. Thank you... we will be back❣
Our family visits Powell River regularly and dinner at Chef David Bowes' Laughing Oyster has become a regular event. It's a half hour drive north of Westview and looks out over beautiful Okeover Inlet. Outdoor and indoor seating allows them to accommodate a fair number of diners comfortably. We had 13 in our group and enjoyed a buffet that was offered in advance. For a couple of fussy children, the restaurant prepared a few items from the regular menu. There were many items on the buffet table including salmon, cod, shellfish and freshly carved roast beef, as well as barbecued pork slathered in sauce that was not overly sweet. One hit with adults and children was a coleslaw with an Asian style dressing. Picky 11-year-old said it was the best he'd ever had. Prices are reasonable, and the service was prompt and friendly. Our 2021 return followed BC's unusual heat wave. The oysters were no longer laughing since like many near-shore creatures, they did not survive the high temperatures. Nevertheless, our party of 10 found much to enjoy. Lightly battered Kalamari & Tsaziki was a hit with teens and pre-teens. Our 14 year-old gourmand labelled his lightly seared tuna perfect but we found some fault with poorly trimmed steak and overly charred vegetables. The busy restaurant had a few timing issues in delivering plates. Most diners at our table were finished before the final plate arrived. Regardless, a beautiful place to spend the evening.
Great food. Great view. The prices are reasonable for what you get. My only critique is that you need a long time because it is very slow. This may be due to Covid ... not sure
Amazing view, delicious food
Best place in Powell River!!! Awesome owner with the most amazing food.
Food; service; ambience; view; ...................nothing short of wonderful!
Sooooooo good. Went for the buffet on Sunday, good price and delicious food.
Great food local music wonderful staff---what more can I say. Best restaurant north of Vancouver that I know of and I LIVE here!

Awesome little gem! Great buffet and menu items. Amazing atmosphere...live music, nice staff and incredible food. Beautiful view of okeover arm.
The food here was so incredibly delicious! I got the steak with gunpowder prawns and my mouth is watering now just thinking about it. It was perfectly seasoned - just the right amount of spice in a sauce that was flavourful and delightfully buttery. There was so much food I couldn't finish it, but the impressive quality meant I couldn't leave without trying a dessert! The crazy chocolate cake was the cherry on top of an already exquisite meal. The worst thing about this place was deciding what to get! I will absolutely be back to try more of their menu.
Excellent. We enjoyed the Wednesday night seafood buffet. Do not miss if you are in the area.
Amazed at how good this place is.. every single time.
Great food. Best fish and chips I've ever had.
Visited this place on the eve of my sisters bday. It’s not near the main Lund attractions so not a touristy restaurant. We called last moment for a reservation in the evening were luckily squeezed into a dinner slot. As we drove towards the restaurant the location unexpectedly amazed us. It was right next to a gorgeous vista of mountains and water and we were seated probably in the best location ; inside but right opposite the porch view . The setting is also perfect for a romantic meal. We ordered numerous dishes, but my favorite by far were the 7 mushroom soup made with foraged local mushrooms and the Stick Toffee pudding with a caramel sauce and fresh cream. Individually the dresser components did not stand out but together it was a symphony. Dave, the owner, was really sweet to get us the dessert as a cake for my sister and had most of the patrons sing the bday song together. Tanya our wait staff was amazing and great with her recommendations. I will be back to this restaurant whenever I visit Lund again, not just to have the food but to experience the hospitality of the amazing people who run this place.
Excellent food and friendly attentive service.
Wow got take out and was totally blown away by the care and quality of our order. Yes Dave please put me on your mailing list for your upcoming specials/ Sound Cloud is where you can find Arthritic Soul 2020 it's a free download have a listen
Amazing seafood buffet!!!
Incredible food and the most breathtaking views from the back patio. A brilliant way to round off a 4 day kayaking trip. We were initially put off by the menu on the website not listing prices as we were worried it would be too fancy and out of our price range, but we decided to go for it anyway and were SO happy we did! Prices are reasonable (and actually much cheaper than what you would pay in a large city for the same high standard of meal), portions were substantial and the staff and owner made us feel at home.
Great buffet.
Most delicious foods, I have ever tasted. Marvelous waitress with good service and suggestions on the choices of food. Awesome ocean view restaurant.
Nice couples dinning
The Spicy Fisher's Grog is to die for. Also the Wild Forest Mushroom soup. Lunch is a great option as well...honestly a phenomenal restaurant anytime!
Dreadful service. Walked in in the afternoon and asked to reserve a table - the lady at the time showed us a menu and it looked great. We then reserved act able and she said there would be a half hour wait for it after the time we reserved. Bit odd but OK. When we got to the restaurant we were left standing at the entrance for 20 mins before somebody came. They put the four of us on a table clearly meant for 2 right next to the speakers that a pretty bad musician was playing through. When we asked to see a menu (we had to ask) the waitress said it was a buffet and we'd better hurry if we wanted something. I said was their not a menu and she said she wasconfused. I told her we were confused as we'd been shown a menu earlier that day. She then rolled her eyes and sighed and said she'd see if the kitchen could do something for us. She came back and gave us a few easy-to-cook options at outrageous prices. Somebody else with us said we may get dinner elsewhere as this wasn't what we were expecting. She then rudely snorted and literally asked "well where are you going to go?" We left at this point.
Lamplight and linen on tables, delicious and fresh food, and very friendly attention from server and owner. Besides kayaking, you'll want to return to this area just to try something more on the menu
The food was fantastic, the view is amazing, the fresh cut flowers on each table from their garden, spectacular! Every bite of food was so very food, can't wait to go back on our next visit.
The food and service here was wonderful. It was a little slow, but that seems to be by design. We were there for lunch and there were no fresh oysters on the menus, but when I asked. They had gotten some in and I was able to order them. Everyone loved their food, except the youngest child who ordered cheesy noodles off the kids menu. It was the one weird thing, it really looked liked box mac n cheese.
After encountering a big black bear in our walking through the Sunshine Coast Trail and while trying to find the way to the restaurant, we finally saw a clear area with a sign pointing us to the Laughing Oyster Restaurant! The run was worth, a very kind beautiful waitress sat us in one of the best tables with the best view (there is no bad view in this place) Still with our admiration in our faces (not for the bear encounter) but for the beauty of this blessed place, she brought us some warm water and a just baked, with delicious smell white bread. We chose creamy champignon and seafood soups, which had been prepared with fresh ingredients. The main plate was of course Oysters! Don't get disappointed if they don't laugh. Beautifully garnished and served in a casserole. This waitress attended us in such way which made our lunch and time there very remarkable. At the end, the Chef and owner came, greeted us, invited to come for live music for dinner time and for drinks. His wife then gave us a kind goodbye and showed us the way to the beach. We had to run back quickly to Lund, BC (where we stayed) as the Sunshine Coast Trail will become darker and perhaps the bear will still be around. What we do not recommend is to go there by the trail, bring your car. What we recommend is to visit this five star people and cuisine restaurant.
Beautiful location. Ate at Wednesday seafood buffet. Some of the food on the buffet was very good. Others ok. Chef and waitstaff very friendly. Musician (Devon) was very good.
