Between the four of us, we shared 5 appetizers and their special feature, then ordered all three of their desserts and the cheese board. Everything was cooked perfectly and the flavours were delicious. I would highly recommend eating here if your in Powell River.

Stopped in for a casual meal and were very pleased with the food. Delicious! And not very expensive considering there was no skimping on the quality of the ingredients. The service was good and the owner, John, even stopped by our table to ensure we were happy with our meal.

Loved it!! The food and service were both excellent! We split several appetizers all of which were so delicious and plated beautifully. The venue is good with views of the marina. It does change into a nightclub at 9 with lower lights and louder music. We would highly recommend for a great dinner and will definitely be back.

Went to the forest bistro for dinner last night, party of 6. Inside looks like a regular bar with pool tables and pinball, the food was anything but! An upscale menu followed through on all orders as our party shared calamari, bruschetta as appies and ordered lamb shank, beef, chicken, rock fish pasta special and the pork. The portion sizes were healthy but the quality was amazing. The chicken stole the show. If they were open tonight we would be back! If you’re visiting Powell River I cannot recommend a better place to get a quality meal, and if you live here - lucky you!

Without question, the best-value fine-dining experience I've had in a long, long time. For under $100 (including tip), I had the braised beef--done to perfection-- and my wife had the scallop, cauliflower puree. We started with a roasted cauliflower along with appy and had a bottle of wine. Everything was superb and our server, Nikki, was delightful. The sunset alone was worth the $100. I can't wait to go back again and again.

I don’t know how many times during the meal I said I was lost got words. My only regret is not letting the chef order everything for us. John is amazing! We had great conversations and felt like we were being treated as honoured guests… every single ingredient in each dish was probably the best prepared. Will be coming back to this neck of the woods just to see what’s cooking here. It’s a rare gem.

The historical beer parlour has big windows and a deck for enjoyment of the stunning ocean view. Best of all though is the seriously upgraded food, drink and dessert offerings.

Food was good, especially oysters and calamari. Staff friendly. Had to ask to change plates (they blamed dish washer). Old place, has smell of old house, personally I did not enjoy it, but some antique lovers my like it.

If you plan to visit Powell River, make a stop in this hidden gem. I went there with a few people and we ordered a lot of different dishes, all were perfectly cooked. The portions are very generous considering the high quality of the ingredients. Prices are very decent, it is an upscale food menu that won't disappoint you! If you can, sit on the patio where the few on the water isn't bad!

Can't say enough good things about this hidden gem. If you are a true foodie and know good food, this is the place for you. I have been here at least a dozen times now and each and every visit we are blown away by the flavours, presentation and quality of the food (not to mention the unbelievable view of the ocean). It's the only tapas/small plate restaurant option in town that's worth a try and it truly reminds me of my travels and time spent in Europe. The food and the service is always top notch, you will not be disappointed!

Just had the best meal I've had in town. Calamari to die for followed by the chicken with fresh thyme and rosemary and the largest bacon chunks I've ever been blessed to eat. 100% worth every penny. The chef came to our table and during our lovely chat he boosted our experience with a nice misting of water to cool us down. Best patio in town. Best food. A must visit.

Went for dinner after receiving a recommendation from a local. Food was phenomenal. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and good sized portions. We loved that it turned into a bar later in the evening with a pool table, pin ball and other arcade games. Would highly recommend!

Wow! The best restaurant in Powell River! John and his team were absolutely wonderful. This out performs some of the best restaurants in Vancouver! The prawns, scallops and mussels were to die for! The lamb was fall off the bone & the halibut was soooo tender! Will definitely be back!

Amazing food. Not at all what you think you'd find in a small town. We're from Victoria and the food could easily be better than anything we've had there. And the price is very reasonable for what you get. We'll definitely be back.

A group of us came over from Vancouver Island for a stag in Powell River. We made a last minute call to the Forest to reserve a table for dinner and drinks. They were super busy, but they made room for us. When we got there, John the owner went out of his way to make sure we had a great night. I would definitely recommend the Forest Bistro & Lounge to anyone local or visiting Powell River. Great food, great vibes and great staff.

This is one of the best, if not the best restaurants in Powell River. Portions were large and filling. The mussels were the best I have ever eaten! The halibut was fresh and flakey, while the asparagus was tender, sweet and earthy. Will definitely be back!

Mashed potatoes are the best dish I’ve ever had and can’t even get started on how amazing the scallops are 10/10 will be ordering again, the rib eye was to die for as well. Then to top it off the customer service by the owner himself was above and beyond.
