Great views on the patio here, but was unamazed by the food. I ordered the salmon lettuce wraps and they seemed mediocre to me. The fish was slightly overcooked and I was hoping for more flavour. Our server was friendly enough but it seemed insincere... based on the reviews I was expecting more from this place.

One of Powell Rivers best restaurants. I eat at Coastal far too many times in a month. I have not had one bad dish and still have a few I am looking forward to taste. Also the staff is amazing!

Friendly chic restaurant with stunning view from the patio. Has a creative menu but food was hit-and-miss. We order the Salmon Lettuce Cups and the Fried Chicken in Waffles. The former was way under-seasoned and the latter was just a bit too spicy for our liking. While we had an enjoyable evening, I was a bit ticked off by an automatic 18% add-on gratuity when I got the bill. Not a problem tipping for good service, it's just wrong to add that automatically to the bill. I would try again given the opportunity. The team deserves a second chance.

We ordered here two nights for dinner. we opted for online ordering with curb side pick up and had it brought out to our vehicle and took to our rental. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone delish according to hubby. Macaroni and cheese was a nice surprise with its unique and delicious flavour - I had the real bacon pieces not added to the macaroni so I assume it would be even better for someone who eats bacon. The pretzel was fresh tasting so good but the side dip was a disappointment. For $9 I felt the mustard should really be a nice quality grainy mustard because the regular yellow mustard brought the overall quality of the pretzel down. The chicken bites were perfectly cooked and sweet saucy yumminess- a great appetizer. Second night’s meal disappointed with the red curry Thai bowl. This lost a star. An unexpectedly small portion of the chicken and cauliflower served on rice. It looked and felt like half the actual curry part was missing and was all rice... not at all aligned with the $17 price. Curry was also quite bland for a Thai red curry. Probably best to stick with the BBQ sauce type dishes they serve as these sauces are full of flavour. Hubby liked his sticky chicken bowl. The chicken wings were good - not breaded- wing and drum cooked well as we requested. We know when we are served quality poultry and appreciated it. You get flavour with chicken that hasn’t been artificially inflated . The meat had flavour. Not the fatty cheaper water bloated bland tasting wings sone other places serve. Recommendation to diners is definitely give the sticky and bbq sauce items a try! Suggestion to this business is to fix the curry bowl with regard to taste and value.

Very good food, really neat interior design and an awesome view from any seat of the marina and the straight! I especially love the live map on the wall that was made by a previous staff member to look like the map of Powell river, texada and the inlets very unique! And also staff members are friendly and professional! Highly recommend!

First time visiting and I can't find a thing I dont like about the place. From the art on the wall to the print on the menu they've decorated with a distinct and enjoyable style. Bathroom is spacious and well kept. Service was quick and friendly but not intrusive. Food looked at tasted great! My one complaint was simply not enough brussel sprouts to share between 4 people but that's mostly because we all loved them! Even though I dont live here I hope to be back ♡

Coastal Cookery is a must stop restaurant for my wife and I when we come to visit Powell River. The drinks menu is great, I highly recommend The Hulk or my wife’s favourite Strawberry Sling. Their evolving menu is amazing with locally sourced eats that are sure to please. The calamari is a great start to any meal. A little spicy and unique, it’s been a favourite of ours since our first visit 5 years ago. The Casual Fare and Mains menu is also fantastic with a good selection of seafood and ethnic dishes that will suit any appetite. Whether you are in PR for business, family visit or just passing through BC’s Sunshine Coast area, you HAVE to stop here for a phenomenal lunch or dinner. You will not be disappointed with this gem of BC eateries.

Came here twice in a week while passing through Powell River. The Duck'en Club washed down by Townsite's Zunga on tap was so tasty and fulfilling I ordered the exact same thing second time around. Service was brilliant (we were a bit time-pressed to catch a ferry on the second visit). Decor inside and the ocean view patio are quite special too.

My favorite restaurant in Powell River. I loved the cashew hummus and sticky chicken rice bowl, both full of flavor and just the right amount of seasonings. Some friends told me their sandwiches are also outstanding and I m looking forward to eating my way through their menu.

5 stars for food and drink, but 3 stars for service. I've been here a couple times. Most recently came here for drinks only at around 8pm and the server was not overly pleasant. It almost seemed like she was unhappy when we said no food. That didn't seem professional and didn't set a good tone for the evening.

Visiting Powell River for the first time. My husband and I ate at this restaurant twice. Beautiful atmosphere with a view of the ocean from every table. Tables on the deck are fantastic. I understand the extra stress around the covid crisis. But that is no reason for the staff to be rude about seating and over doing the panic.. We are on holidays and visited about 11 or 12 different places all with varying ways of dealing with the rules.. these 2 girls were just rude, after not even being asked for a drink order in almost 10 min.. it just turned us off completely, we got up and left. I was told once I was seated I was locked in..

I don’t usually write reviews but I have to review this one! Eat here! I just grabbed the sticky chicken rice bowl to eat on the ferry and I didn’t expect much, usually I find rice bowls bland and dry. In fact I left it for about an hour till I got hungrier before I finally did eat it since I didn’t think it would be that good and HOLY. IT IS AMAZING. Moist, flavourful, fresh ingredients and just the right amount the spice. Blown away! The service inside while I waited for my order was fabulous too, the view of the sunset was to die for and the kambucha was delicious. Thank goodness I don’t live too near this restaurant or I would never cook again. Incredible! I ate a bunch before I took the picture

popular place...crowded each time... been 4 times...have yet to enjoy a meal there ...food reads great on the menu ...always disappointing..waitress commented on two of the visits that i wasn't eating the (fairly expensive) meal but didn't offer to do anything about it. service was not great ...one time had to go to counter and wait for long time ..our waitress had disappeared...think she went on a break ...2nd time we had to grab attention of another waitress. ..wouldn't care if food was enjoyable. Last time went home and cooked my own meal ...first time i've left a restaurant still hungry...crazy.

Enjoyable family meal and excellent service. My husband and I ordered the Backyard burger with fries and a Chop salad and they offered at no charge to split each and put half on each plate. Same with my kids poutine and sliders. So many yummy choices to choose from it was hard to pick. Modern and trendy decor which was nice to see in small town restaurant.

So then i ordered the deep fried buttermilk chicken wings and they were awesome !!! if i were management...i would take the ling cod off the menu altogether and replace it with an item of the same caliber as the rest of the great menue...but anyway who am i ...right ? just my 2 cents

Very modern and clean place with friendly personnel. One can almost always tell when owners take pride of their business and are there to uphold certain standards. Food is 8 out of 10 and that's because I'm stupid picky what I eat. Regardless, it is consistent. I don't like everything on the menu, but I have not walked out hungry or disappointed out of the place yet. Their speciality drinks are very good. Try mojito. Service is 9 out of 10 perhaps 10. If I had to wait any less for my food I would worry they are reheating it in the microwave. Pricing is fair, one should budget about $20 a plate and even "catch of the day" won't break your bank. Owners had created a very pleasant and afordae atmosphere. This combined with the unbelievable view of the Georgia Straight makes you feel like you are the king of the hill when you dine at the Coastal Cookery. Highly recommended by a very discriminating critic.

Stay away from their beef burger! I have tried their beer battered chicken and it was phenomenal, but that was dinner hour and quite a bit of a more expensive meal choice. I stopped in today for lunch and wanted to try something cheaper off their menu - the beef burger was not the choice! Completely over cooked and dry as well as I almost choked on the slab of pork described as “bacon” in the menu. Also why are the fries so tiny/soggy? Will probably be back only as the options in Powell river are limited. View was nice, service OK

The food here was astonishingly good! Service was second-to-none and the array of choices left nothing to be desired. Though busy, parking was a breeze, as was getting a table immediately upon arrival. If there was one downside to report, it's only that there are no child-specific options, so while the choice and value was definitely there price-wise for adults, the options for kids were limited and at the price, could be a bit of a tough pill to swallow for some. But it is amazing.

First restaurant that we’ve been in Powell River. Nice place, clean and they are practicing covid19 safety measures. We had the Mike’s Burger which is I think better than any Whitespot burgers. And fish and chips! One of the best. You gotta try this place!

Buddha bowl was delicious and filling, and their cocktails are well made. Good service with a great vista.

I recommend the Bruss and Muss starters. Veggie burger was really good, but the chicken waffle combo seemed like the star of their menu. Cocktails are also really good. Overall, a must visit restaurant for visitors to the city.

Amazing environment, I was a little sceptical about the menu at first but my experience with a large group of combined children and adults was amazing. The staff are skilled and professional. The service was premium. The food was hot and so were the servers (if I’m allowed to say that). If you want an enjoyable outing without breaking the bank you should try this place! Well done Coastal Cookery.

On the recommendation of a local resident we arrived at the Coastal Cookery just after the lunch period eager to enjoy a decent meal. Good service and nice surroundings and the food was 'ok' but it seemed like the chef was anxious to finish his shift and get out of the kitchen. It never fails to amaze me that restos think a mediocre performance in the kitchen will not be noticed. Most diners would rather chew off their left arm than complain about their meal especially if they are with friends, but they don't have a problem telling two friends,who will tell their two friends, and so on, and so on and... Every order should be prepared as if it was being served to a foodie journalist if you want to stay in business. Just sayin.

In town visiting and stopped by with the family for dinner. Absolutely blown away. Such a wonderful meal, the appetizer was amazing as was the main dish. Ran out of room before desert. A must for our next visit.

Went here for dinner and it was great. The waitress was on point with her banter and gave some great recommendations of beers. The food was really good and it came with an amazing sunset. I had the Chicken Waffle Sandwich and it was super tasty. If you’re in Powell River pop in.

From the start the servers were very pleasant and efficient to make sure we all get drinks and food on a timely fashion. We stayed for a long time and we received a consistently good service. You can tell that the staff enjoys working together. Great ambiance, sunset view, friendly staff and delicious food.

A fabulous find in Powell River. They have amazing food and terrific ambience. The staff are friendly and willing to accommodate some requests (our kids needed break proof dishes, plus they gave them colouring books). Food and drink options are plentiful and well prepared. The kitchen staff puts a lot of care into the food. Bathrooms are clean and spacious. They have an outdoor patio. We saw tables of eight being seated but I imagine the upper limit is about 18 to 20 for larger groups. It is not a huge restaurant. They have a beautiful natural wood bar. They have limited street parking, are on a transit route and reasonably close to a bike rack. They have a happy hour and food specials that are both seasonal and re-occuring.

I always come here enroute from Savary Island back to Vancouver Island, and I'm never disappointed. The meals are good, supurb selection of local beers and a nice atmosphere with pleasant, friendly front end staff and care of presentation and preparation in the kitchen. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was delighted to find that Coastal Cookery is showing the very same care for its customers; this was one of the best covid restaurant experiences I've had yet. Everyone is taking care, keeping distance, menus are via QR code to your phone, staff are never idle, always wiping down, lots of little details of care in handling common objects (pin pads, etc) and making contact lists to help with contact tracing should the need arise. Come ear here, this is your place!

Literally waited 2 hours inside. They were saying it wall take a little bit longer for the food but not telling us exactly how long. They were still accepting take out orders and more customers when they know they're short staffed. We decided to walk out and feed our toddlers granola bars. Poor restaurant management.

Great flavors, everyone loved their food, including the kids and they were willing to do half portions for them. We had the Ducken Club, which was a tasty bite with the raspberry mustard sauce, chicken and waffles sandwich, the mussels, and the salmon sandwich. Everything was delicious. The views are also amazing. We had 6 in our party, so we didn't fit on the deck, but there's not a bad seat in the house. The WiFi was nice as well. The staff was super nice.
