Not kid friendly and extremely rude servers. We tried to eat here as a family with our 18-month old son. The server was so rude to our child and my wife that we immediately left and ate elsewhere. Never again.

The 4 of us went in yesterday for a late lunch, we all ordered something different and every single dish we ordered tasted absolutely delicious! We all left there raving about how good it was and have already made plans to make the trip back up as we were from the sydney area. First time there, beautiful set up of a cozy family eating area, then a bar and machines room. Beautiful Hugh washrooms and clean. Friendly staff, large portions, and reasonably priced. I highly recommend, and we will most diffently will be back

I have really enjoyed the food here. The menu is large enough so everyone should be able to find something. The wait staff are friendly and helpful. This place is kid friendly with kids menus and high chairs - don't let "pub" fool you!

TO BE AVIODED!!! We were looking for something to eat and based on the recommendations of some locals we ended up in Papa's Pub. We sat down, and waited and waited and waited for the server to come and take our order. She finally came,and we ordered two beer which arrived promptly. Then we ordered the food (burger, and a steak) and some water. After 10mins the water still had not come, and we asked again for the water, which she then brought. We waited for 30mins and then asked about the status of our food. She checked with the kitchen, and told us that they had not even started cook our food! At that point we got up and prepared to leave. We paid for the beer (we should just have l ft, but we are honest people), and the waitress got "fresh" and said that they had a large table in the back (birthday party?) and that's why they could not serve us faster. We demanded to speak to the manager but were told in a very impolite way that he was not present. We left and went to Tim Hortons where we should have gone in the first place. Summary: Bad service, impolite waitress!!! Do yourself a favor and avoid this dump!!!

Well I can start this off with incredible service here. The staff are always thinking about the customer first and it's very welcoming. Not to mention great food! If you're looking for a night out of relaxation with amazing food this is the place to go, go check them out!

Service was horrible! We had my 1 year old and when we said we would need a high chair the waitress said “ok, but it’s gonna be a few minutes”. One menu/table? I get there is covid but everything is sanitized. Then my baby was holding the menu and he waitress said um there’s chemicals on the menus!!! Not to mention a mask around your chin when you’re supposed to wear it is not effective.

We ordered a club sandwich to split. The place was about half full and not super busy. We waited about 25 or 30 minutes and no food. The ladies at the table next to us sat down after us and had been each served their meal and dessert while we had nothing. We paid for the beverage we ordered and left. Would not recommend stopping here if you're on a road trip from Halifax to Sydney or vice versa.

Grabbed a quick bite on our route towards Cabot Trail. We had an excellent service and a decent seafood chowder. The food is not exceptional but it hit the spot. The fish and chips was served with commercial tartar sauce in little packages, that was disappointing, but the sweet patatoe fries were excellent. They have plenty of variety on their menu, so if you are a group, everyone should find something that will suit them.

Great Experience especially with Covid. They took Temps when arriving and the Staff members were continually sanitizing. Hats off to your two young Staff Members. The food was amazing as always. We don't get up as often since our boys no longer play hockey but if you are looking for a home cooked meal while traveling through Porthawksbury Papa's Pub and Eatery is the place to stop.

I found bits of fried clams in my french fries. My order was one piece fish and chips and my partner had pan fried haddock the difference between mine and his was he had a handful of veggies and his costed 6$ more then mine. The positive side is the batter on this fish was light and not greasy and good size portioned.

Papa's is always a fan-favourite place - wether we are entertaining out-of-town gusts or it's just a Monday lunch. The food is delicious, the staff is welcoming and very hard working, and the prices are affordable. We have had a bit of trouble in the past when ordering pizza, but the staff always ensures that the issue is fixed before we leave (i.e.: we received the wrong size, garlic fingers were missed). That being said, get yourself the deep fried cheesecake. It's good for your soul.

The deep fried pepperoni was really good, never had anything like that before. We got fried cheesecake to go and they went out of their way to make sure the whipped cream in a separate dish so the cheesecake wpuldnwo get soggy. Hats off for that.

Service was terrible. When the waitress forgot my sons pizza, after the rest of his ball team were done eating their pizza, she says the pizza oven was broken. When we leave other people in the restaurant were eating pizza. When I called after leaving to find out how, if the oven was broken,were people still able to get it, she said it was fixed. Well thank you for telling us that while we were there so we could have gotten it, and she said well I did take it off your bill. Thanks for embarrassing a 9 year old in front of his team.

Not great food. I ordered a side of scallops, they charged me for a main. I pointed this out to the waitress (who apparently didn't want a tip) and she stood her ground on the basis that I had eaten a full portion (which I didn't ask for) and so should pay for it. Regardless of the fact that had I wanted 9 scallops (a full portion) I would have ordered 2 side portions (5 scallops each, $7 each) rather than pay $18 for a scallop main with no fries. Having a rant about scallops on google does wonders for dinner-venue-choice-regret.

Last night I had the patio burger. It wasn't on the regular menu but wow it should be!!!! Was the best burger I have had in recent memory.....toppings were fresh and delicious. Fries nice and hot ....at first I thought 14.dollars is a bit expensive but after I ate it I've changed my mind was worth every penny. ......I just hope it's on special mu next visit....

We stopped here for lunch today and highly recommend it. The restaurant was clean and quiet and the waitstaff were courteous and professional. Their fried haddock dinner was delicious and prices well. The haddock was a generous filet that was lightly battered and fried, and served with a large helping of hand cut French fries, sauteed in-season vegetables, and a small side of coleslaw. We also enjoyed a cup of their special recipe seafood chowder, which was made with a light cream and seafood stock broth, diced potatoes and onions and spices.

I'm a very critical diner and pick apart every aspect of a meal down to the finest detail but today I was very impressed with my entire meal and that of my family. A table of 6 and I didnt find a thing wrong with our food. It was excellent, exceptional. Down to the last bite a very enjoyable meal. Our server was amazing as well.
