Have been to this winery twice. First time - the only thing that got my attention was the view. BEAUTIFUL. Second time was under new ownership and they WOWED us. We were on the patio on a beautiful sunny day - freak rain and wind storm came and blew everything over - umbrellas, tables - everything. The owner, server and team rushed a table inside for us, and set up a beautiful dinner in the tasting room for my friend and I. We received a beautiful desert, wine tasting (which was really just an awesome “visit” and get to know you session) and had a great time learning about Play and their team. We cannot wait to go back. The food and company are awesome ????

Fantastic gem in the most beautiful location. The views of Skaha lake are breathtaking. All the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable, and Jeff Burns is a master in the kitchen. My wife had the halibut and I had the spaghettini - everything was fantastic!!! I look forward to coming back.

We ordered two starters and our mains, and we were impressed by everything (including the vegetarian dish)! Wine was great as well, and it was nice to see their restaurant wine prices have a very reasonable markup from the retail prices.

What a view! And, a great menu with a welcoming wide open space to enjoy either in the restaurant or tasting room. Views from everywhere. The staff are lovely, and the winemaker is often there to say hello to everyone. The wines pair so nicely with the menu. I easily did the wine route around Okanagan Falls to tie this winery into my itinerary. And I'm so glad I did. This is a winery and bistro that you shouldnt miss, seriously.

The burger was really nicely flavoured and the fries were particularly good too. Really all the dishes were super tasty. They even gave us a taster of a dish with fermented tomato water that they will be featuring next week and it was amazing! Combine that with an unbeatable view from their patio. If I lived in Penticton, this place would be my local.

The risotto was one of the best things I've eaten, I could eat the grilled squid all day. Had dinner on the patio with a nice bottle of rose wine. Not a cheap meal but very enjoyable. My wife and I shared two appetizers and an entre.

I love their wine so I was very excited to go to the bistro for our wedding anniversary. Made reservations for the patio to celebrate. When we arrived the manager Gord said he had nothing for me and questioned how I made the reservation like it was my fault. Once he found my name he told me that inside would be my only option. I was totally shocked and went to sit with my husband. There were tables outside available. After 5 straight minutes of no one acknowledging us we were asked if we wanted water. We left instead. I was so angry and felt so judged by the manager I couldn't even speak. We were clearly not old enough, white enough or dressed well enough to suit the manager. Why else would someone treat us so poorly? I would love an explanation. I remembered that I needed to pick up something for my sister who's a front line health care worker (apparently there was a special case available for them). I angrily went back in and inquired about it praying not to have to speak with the manager. He did a 180 and treated me sooooo differently when he thought I was the health care provider. When I told him it was for me he said it wouldn't be possible during dinner service. Didn't suggest any other time. He then said a table became available on the patio. I really wanted to experience the chef at Play so we stayed for dinner. Food was good and beautifully presented but the experience was marred by the general manager who was shmoozing with a table for the entire time. Servers we friendly and nice. Wine was excellent.

Great view with mediocre and overpriced food. We ordered beef tartar, calamari and a local beer. The beef was ok but had too much mustard, however, calamari were great. The local Skaha Summer Ale came in a can, no glass. Turns out they don't have beer glasses yet. The two appetizers and a can of beer came out to $34 without tax. Like I said, the place has a spectacular view but they could definitely work on their food and service if they are going to charge that much.

This young chef, Jeff Burns, is an up and coming star!!! If you eat nothing else in your life eat the halibut with caper sauce and risotto. It was a fresh festival of flavours perfectly cooked and executed. WOW WOW WOW is all I can say. The wait staff, particularly Melissa, was engaging, helpful and fun. People always ask us, "Why Penticton?" This restaurant/tasting room is our answer. The view, WORLD CLASS, the food, STELLAR! Why, because we can and do....gladly!!!!

I am so thrilled that we stopped at this gem for lunch! We had it on our schedule and we also had a winery recommend it too so we knew we were in for a treat. We had the carpaccio appetizer, risotto, and gourmet burger along with the bread and delicious butter! The level of food was what you would expect at a 5-star high end restaurant and the presentation, flavours, and dishes were simply AMAZING!!! The staff was incredible. The General Manager was so accommodating and everyone was very friendly and down to earth. The view of the lake from the patio and dining room is stunning and worth the experience. I personally loved the theatrical theme and “play” on different decor and fixtures which were very clever and well done. I would highly recommend visiting. And the wine was great! (I had the vionier)

July 8/18 to the owner; me and my partner stopped here to try out your wines and food. We were however completely ignored by your staff which prompted us to leave. I’m sorry to say but having seen only a small handful of customers this was a perfect example of how bad employees can damage a business. Take it as you want but I don’t see a promising business plan unless you sort this out. Best of luck to you.

Beautiful views and amazing food - we got a mushroom flatbread and it was delicious. Wines are great, and the owner and his son are so friendly and hospitable. We loved the genuine family feel here, will definitely be back!

We went especially from out of town in order to enjoy their tastings, and pick up some favorite wines. The manager who hosted the tasting was rather rude and condescending. Instead of educating us on the nuances of the different wines, he rushed through the whole tasting process as if we were in his way of getting other things done. In the end he dryly commented that he'll have to charge us for the covers if we don't buy any product!! Needless to say we were left looking at each other at his tone! It completely soured our experience and we will not be recommending this place to others.

Great view and atmosphere, nice service. Food was pretty. If you are an alberta redneck, the food is way over priced, and somewhat of a very small appetizer. We needed to go for a meal after. No tasting AT ALL which is a big huge NO for a winery. The wine we chose off the menu turned out to be delicious though.

We really enjoyed play estate winery. Good atmosphere, friendly ane knowledgeable staff. Clean area and beautiful views. The wines were delicious! We also sat down for a meal and found it superb. Overall one of the best wine and dine experiences we had in the Okanagan.

We went for a late lunch and glass of wine. We tried each of their red wines by the glass and shared the charcuterie and soup of the day. Everything was delishous, the service was fantastic and the views were spectacular. This will now be one of our regular places.

Wow. Made a reservation by phone no mention of having to be outside in the wind but table ended up fine with the heaters. We were never offered any water and had to ask after our meal. The only meat options were a pasta and a $44 steak. The chacuitre board was so good. We had to keep pouring our wine ourselves. Finallly we had one dessert option which we chose and ended up taking it home due to the wait for any coffee or ???. The dessert was $12 and when we got home it was a 1/8 piece of some kind of apple torte...no cream and was burnt. I have a picture but do not want to add insult to injury. So was looking forward to this reopening as we had been many times in the past.

Manager was sooo rude and staff went along with his wishes while he was having a drink with a buddy. Sooo many tables were available on the patio at 7pm On weekday, but apparently it was all reserved according to the manager. We were there for what it seemed to be forever for a burger, it took almost an hour and a half. No one was taking the tables outside but we were forced to seat inside. Not recommended... we were treated as though, they were doing you a favor by allowing you to come in to the restaurant. Someone happened to recommend it so we stopped by. I would NOT recommend at all!!!!!

Made a reservation 24 hours before arriving specifically to sit on the patio. Had two more people join our party. We were nice and cooperating to have lunch inside instead of the patio as our numbers were more than they expected. The extra people left and we had a quarter bottle of wine left that we hoped to finish on the patio, would have taken 15-20 minutes. There were many empty patio seats on the patio throughout our entire 1.5 hour stay there. Asked two staff nicely and got a non-accommodating no. Especially rude was the passive aggressive middle aged man that seemed misogynistic. Instead of being accommodating, he was rude and asked one of our party to take her feet of the chair. Beautiful location and food is ok, but service is far below average Okanagan level.

Our group of 12 was there for dinner on Saturday and everyone had a really great meal. The manager gave us an impromptu tasting of their Moscato, which we all loved. The food, wine, beautiful views and amazing service made this winery one we will come back to again! Would absolutely recommend this winery to everyone.

We brought a friend here (Sonetto) for the first time for her birthday dinner. The food was very well prepared and really quite delicious. I have to say where the disappointment hit was in the service. I have certain expectations from a fine dining restaurant and it just honestly did not hit the mark. We waited for close to 45 min to even get a drink, and each course followed suit with long waits for water, clearing plates, and new drinks. It seemed like the 12 tables would be manageable for the three servers but unfortunately this was not the case. I do wish them well and I hope they improve in their service. It is a beautiful setting and obviously the kitchen is doing something right. I think it important for their staff to recognize that each table is equally important as the other as the service seemed very inequitable tonight.

Although I have had positive experiences in the past, I now get turned away every time I look to eat here for simply not having a reservation. Despite the 7 empty tables they had that they said were not reserved.

We went there once but the food was very good, well presented, with creativity. The price is high, obviously, but once in a while it worth the drive. The atmosphere is really pleasant ad quiet inside or outside.
