Here you have the feddbacks of people like you who are buying the services of Aroma Meze (Winery) in the territory of Ottawa (Canada).
At the present this business gets a rating of 4.6 over 5 and the rating was based on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that the average score it has is virtually the best one, and it's founded on a high number of feddbacks, so we can think that the rating is very accurate. If many people have bothered to evaluate when they've done well, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to place tatings when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Winery belongs to the category of Tapas restaurant.
Very yummy and great with allergies. Excellent gluten free mods on a group meal. Small portions because it's tapas but delicious high quality bites that are fairly priced. Accommodates medium sized groups well. Not accessible.
Aroma has to be the best small plates menu in Ottawa! Every dish is as delicious as the next, leaving you wanting more and more! Zack the owner, is someone who you can tell really takes pride in his restaurant, he is extremely genuine and always accommodating. Not to mention his entire staff is the most courteous, knowledgable and pleasant group to be around. Every cook that enters their kitchen is top grade, making every dish a mouth watering experience! This restaurant is definitely a MUST try! If we could rate it 10 star, we wouldn't hesitate in doing so. We’v tried just about everything on the menu and it isn't often where every single dish is recommend. From the Garden menu, to the Earth, from the Sea, to the dips and desserts, all have their own amazingly unique tastes! Absolutely love this place & can't wait to be back! Highly recommend :)
Nice atmosphere, great food and friendly and knowledgeable staff. Love the multiple courses.
Great place with good food. Tapas style Greek menu with good seasonal items. Drink choices are wide with many wine, cocktails, and beers available.
Absolutely delicious! One of my favourite restaurants in Ottawa. The lamb poutine is to die for . Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Great place for groups to come and share some amazing foods! Extensive menu, there is something for everyone.
Overall great experience. Good food and great prices. The only reason I don't give it a 5 star review has to do with the decor. It's pretty plain and it gets pretty loud with everyone talking, but otherwise a great time! I definitely recommend.
The next time you're in Ottawa and don't know where to eat, make this your first stop. I've been to many a tapas resteraunt and this was by far the best. #1 the price I paid for the amount and quality of food we received was phenomenal. Fantastic bang for your buck and that's not meant to take away from the food. The restaurant is located in an old house so it's got that beautiful rustic smell and the quaintness and level of service would have you thinking you're on vacation. 10/10. Will go again. Highly recommend and couldn't be happier with our experience.
Amazing dining experience! We loved every small dish tried, let it be a veggie option or meat! The atmosphere is cozy and warm. The staff was super friendly! We’ll definitely be back :)
Had a fantastic meal at Aroma Meze. Really enjoyed the variety and quality of the different tapas style dishes. We tried a bunch of different one but the favorites are the jumbo shrimp, squid, falafel and scallops. Service was great, and overall ambiance was a good fit for the meal. Will definitely be back!
Everything we tried was tasty. Will definitely return. Lots of options to choose, from, and we selected 6 plates as suggested. Vegetarians are given a substitute item (kitchen's choice) for any non-veg dishes the table orders and the menu has plenty of vegetarian options as well. There is a wait of varying lengths between dishes served, so expect to be there a couple of hours. Prices on menu are for a plate for 2 people, so when you order for 4, the price will be doubled, as in charged for 2 plates. Service was fine, but our server was definitely busy, and often seemed rushed. Didn't use the facilities myself, but one member reported that washrooms were out of paper towels are weren't so clean.
Excellent tapas. Excellent service. I would eat here again and again and again!!
We went there to have dinner with another couple in March this year (one week before Ontario lockdown). That night, the restaurant was full and tables were adjacent to each other. At that time I did have some concerns and glad that we didn't catch anything from the air. ???? Anyway, the food we ordered was very good. Service was excellent. We want to go back when the pandemic will be over one day.
A most enjoyable experience. The food and wine we're great. The staff were friendly. A good time was had by all.
Amazing food! You can also tell the waiter loves his job and was happy to be serving us. Great experience, perfect for a date night.
I came here two years ago and the dining experience was good. The second time I visited this restaurant, it was the total opposite. The service was very very slow. One dish took more than 10 minutes, and the dish was meant to be shared, so one bite per person. So you eat for 30 seconds and wait for more than 10 minutes for another 30 seconds. There was even smoke coming out from the kitchen that made my eyes felt itchy. Overall, very bad experience.
Beautifully presented plates. Unique tasting tapas for a date. Plan to order 8-10 options with 2 bottles of wines. Private intimate setting makes it perfect for a getaway.
This spot was recommended by someone else so we needed to try it and it for sure didn’t disappoint! Definitely a place to try for good food in Ottawa!!! Not only was food delicious but service was great too. We will be back!
Amazing and memorable dining experience here! We came on a friends recommendation while visiting Ottawa for the weekend and it really was a highlight of our stay - food, wine and service was all outstanding for what is an unassuming little restaurant on a residential street. I’m sure we’ll be back!
One of my fave in town. Delicious tapas inspired plates. BYO wine makes is the perfect place! Zack is one of the nicest servers I’ve met!
Excellent small plates, great wine list, cozy atmosphere
The service was great and the food delicious. We were two couples and shared 6 plates which come out one at a time at the kitchen's discretion. The Greek salad was fresh and the lamb poutine comforty. We took the gluten free options as one person has celiac desease and we all loved the pita served with the dip. It was soft and might have even tasted better the the regular!
Although the food was authentic and excellent, we left the restaurant hungry for more. The portions could have been a bit bigger for the price range. You can definitely taste that they are cooking with love and that you're dealing with a real chef.
I had a really lovely dinner here a few nights ago. The service was great and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. There were 2 of us and 5 dishes was a perfect amount of food. The dishes come out one at a time so you're not overwhelmed with food and nothing gets cold - it was a great dining experience. The stuffed dates, lamb sliders, and tiger prawn gnocchi were my favourites!
I was really impressed by the food quality here. For such a tiny restaurant, there were at least three servers, each brining out plates to any table so that our dishes were served with perfect timing. This would be a great place to go with friends, a date, or your mom. I will definitely return.
Small plates are tasty and service was excellent. Such a hidden gem.
Great service, very tasty food. Small, sharable tapas plates are very flavorful. Highly recommended
All 6 dishes were under seasoned. Salt is such an important flavour enhancer and the chef should be tasting the dishes again to ensure the taste is coming through. Some dishes need a little bit of salt, others some acidity notes. The service was fantastic and the place is beautiful.
One of the best places for tapas in Ottawa. It's much bigger than it seems, a good spot for two or big groups. The food was absolutely fantastic! There is a lot of variety and one of the most accommodating spots I have ever been for gluten intolerances and other food allergies.
Having dinner at Aroma Meze is a culinary experience. This is a really cool restaurant where you get to try a lot of different dishes. There are so many options! For our group of 5, we picked 10 Mediterranean tapas to enjoy over the course of a few hours. The tapas were served, one by one, in a particular order. It was fun not knowing what was coming next. It's amazing how much food they can produce in such a small kitchen. Busy place. Looking forward to returning.
Great sharing plates. The plates are seasoned very well, and came out at a reasonable time after our order. The server was very helpful and polite. I like that he took time to explain everything that was on the plates. The menu has a good selection of veg and non-veg options. It's a great spot for a date night and going out with a group of friends. I've already recommended this place to friends.
One of the best hidden gems of Ottawa. Top notch quality in every single dish. Cosy spot, and the owner himself works hands on in the restaurant he owns and meets all the customers which is admirable.
Ok so here is what I think . The reastraunt is clean and looks great. The staff is super friendly and informative. My only issue is for the price you are paying the portions are are very small and the prices are a bit inflated. I went in Hungary and after ordering 6 options that taste great btw I left just as Hungary. They do make good drinks and the drink prices are very reasonable. Overall a good experience but I doubt I'll go back .
I have been waiting so long to go to this place and sadly I was a bit dissapointed. The small sharing dish is a great idea but the timing between dishes was off. Most of the dishes were lacking a surprise element with the exception of the gnocchi cremini and the figs with gorgonzola. I would rather have less options and everything well orchestrated. It was super nice that they curated the order of how the dishes were coming to the table, I enjoyed that part of the experience. And the service is good as well. Always a smile and the dishes well explained, no rush to pay.
Overall this place was great. The octopus was overcooked and so was the beef. But surprisingly enough, the chicken meatballs in sauce was incredible. I usually only go for the more adventurous options, but we were recommended this option and they were amazing.
Perfect spot for a nice dinner out with friends and loved ones. The menu is interesting and varied, appealing to a wide range of tastes and dietary restrictions. Everything I've eaten here has been incredibly delicious. Excellent wine selection.
I've been hearing about this place forever, and a few days ago I finally had the chance to go for a friend's birthday party, and wow it did not disappoint!! The ambiance is very cozy and personal, which is a nice change from the typical restaurant scene. We had an excellent (and beautiful) server who helped us navigate the menu and pair our drinks perfectly. The shared tapas style seemed a bit odd at first, but ended up making our experience that much more enjoyable. Simply put, the food was some of the best I've ever had...every dish was more mouth watering than the last. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Ottawa. I know I'll be back soon!
We had an incredible time at Aroma to celebrate my partner and I second anniversary! The food and service was incredible and the portion size was better than expected. Two of us ordered 8 dishes and we were both stuffed at the end. The gnocchi, Phyllo, and lamb tacos were my favourite, but I want to go back and try more dishes.
This place is amazing if you have a few hours to kill at the end of an evening and are in no rush to get home. Tapas are served separately, however I found that our food was being served a bit slower than everyone else’s. By the end I was a bit bored and wanted to cancel our last plate just to go home. We had four tapas in 2 hours. The first one came quickly after we had ordered but we had roughly a 15-20 minute wait in between each one. Guests sitting beside us seemed to be getting their tapas within a 5 minute interval. Not sure if it was simply the type of tapas we had ordered. Side note: wine is AMAZING with a rich selection. Also MUST make a reservation.
My favourite small plate meal place to go. The food here always very subtly flavoured for a change and it this brings out the flavours of the proteins a 100 times more. My favourite is the chicken meatballs, that sauce is sublime and compliments the crusty meatball perfectly. The staff is stellar as well, very very courteous. My only wish is that they relocate to a bigger place so they can seat more people!
Food here are amazed! It’s Greek tapas, not like Spanish tapas. Highly recommend smoked salmon, scallops, tiger shrimp, mushroom. Great deco and staffs as well!
One of my absolute favorite places! I have never had a dish I didn't absolutely love! Favs: all gnocchi, beet towers, zucchini fritters, aranccini (sp?), scallops, garlic dip....just everything. And the service is always wonderful!
Great experience, from the appetizer to the dessert.
I have been here twice and both times did not disappoint! The second time, I took my visiting parents and grandparents and was worried about how to order sufficient dishes for a group of 5. They just scaled up each of the dishes for 5- which was so lovely and meant everyone got to try all the dishes. Everyone was very impressed with the meal- a great variety with wonderful combinations of flavours. Meat and seafood perfectly cooked. The customer service was also excellent- the plates come out one at a time and even their order seems well thought out. This is a place to relax and enjoy a leisurely meal!
Probably the best meal I've ever had. Food was tasty, savoury and perfectly cooked. Service was exceptional. Gotta try if you're in Ottawa
Great food & a great experience. We were well looked after. They definitely knew the ideal pace and plan for the combination of the 6 delicious tapas dishes we ordered. Dishes we perfect for 2. The interior needed a bit of tlc though.
Charming little spot with good service and delicious food. The menu isn't robust, but everything is cooked to perfection and very flavourful. Bathroom could have been cleaner.
A real gem in Ottawa. Simply amazing selection of food. Fresh, flavorful, exquisite presentation and warm hospitality.
Fantastic experience. Food was well prepared and had a great variety, prices are reasonable, wine selection is great, and the decor is interesting and cozy. During my visit they had a power failure and they did everything they could to re-mediate the situation-you could tell the staff cared. It turned the evening into a candlelit dinner which just made the experience all the more special! I'd recommend this place to anyone and I will certainly be going back.
I was disappointed both with quality and the size of the portions. We ordered 7 dishes (one more than their "suggestion"), our bill was $85, and we had to go for shwarma after because we were still hungry. The meal took 2 hrs not because we were having a good time, but because their "design" is to bring out a dish at a time with very long waits inbetween dishes. And each dish is just a bite, for instance their mushroom dish is literally one small mushroom cap per person, and their scallop dish is one scallop per person. So we spent most of our time waiting and hungry. I can't say the food made up for it, it is not bad, but it's also not particularly good. The service is nice but then server was overwhelmed and never even asked us if we wanted a second drink... In 2 hrs. I'm afraid it was a rather frustrating experience.
Amazing food and service. Every plate was very flavourful and they came out at a great pace. 6 plates were more than enough. Would definitely go back to try more of the dishes!
I absolutely love the concept of this hidden gem. It is small tapas therefore they recommend for 2 people to share around 5-6 dishes (we did 8 and left the right amount of full), second of all it is tailored for long conversations as the tapas come in every 10 mins or so. You don't feel rushed as they serve one plate at a time. I want to give it 3 stars as the servers forgot to place an order of poutine and had to remind the waitress that we are still waiting on 1 more dish and when it arrived seemed like the fries we not cooked through and felt like thawed fries. Otherwise had myself a great time as I had great company.
The food was particularly delicious when we went. They are so gluten aware that I felt confident eating everything. The menu is about 90% gluten free from what I could see. The service is great and the presentation of the dishes is well timed. The desserts are fabulous. I had the gf tiramisu and it was the best I've ever had. Highly recommend. Make a reservation.
I just start off by saying that the food here is nothing short of great! Every dish I had was just extremely good. Their portions sizes are just about enough for 2 people. There is ample seating space and despite being located in the downtown, parking is not that difficult to find. The staff here is friendly and they know their food and wines! There were some great recommendations and we throughly enjoyed dining here. The are priced a little on the higher side but that can easily be forgiven once you have had the food. Overall, defiantly recommend this place!
Fantastic slow eating. Small portions of each means you can get lots of variety and "graze" through multiple mini courses. Staff are friendly and helpful. LOTS of gluten-free options. Pricey, but you get what you pay for.
Oct 2016: I love this place! The food is amazing and the service is excellent. They were very accommodating with allergies and recommended alternatives and/or substitutions! Definitely recommend the lamb tacos and the Poutine! Update Nov 2017: service wasn't very good. I never got asked if I wanted another glass of wine. Furthermore, one of the waiters has SUPER long hair which he wears LOOSE. No hair tie, no net, just draped over his shoulders. If you're serving and bending over tables, you should be wearing your hair up. Also the barhroom was pretty dirty - lots of dust on the floor and poo stains all over the toilet seat.
What a find wow..while spending the weekend in Ottawa found this jewel of s tapas restaurant it small and very popular do reserve We were very impress with the service and the food (tapas) were to die for Will come back next time in Ottawa
This place has been my favourite restaurant for over 5 years. It is a truly traditional Mediterranean style restaurant. Just like when I travelled to Crete in Greece, you have to opportunity to sit and chat and taste amazing tapas style plates to share over the course of your evening. I recommend 8-9 plates if you have a bigger appetite like my husband but 6-7 plates is perfect for me. The service is always incredibly friendly and welcoming. The longest I’ve waiting between dishes is 15 minutes but that is the traditional experience in Greece and when your chatting and having a conversation, it actually goes by quite fast, plus I wouldn’t want all that food at once anyway cause you’d get stuffed and wouldn’t actually enjoy the gastronomic experience as much. Greeks take their time to eat and savour the moments of good food and good company. This place is not just about the delicious food , it provides you with the Cretan experience. The restaurant is charming and warm. You feel like your having a romantic evening dinner in a wine cellar if you sit in the back section of the restaurant. They have so many amazing wines, and I suggest the red Cabernet Sauvignon from Crete. They use local ingredients and pick up their ingredients the morning of, so everything is ALWAYS fresh. I’ve been to many restaurants in Ottawa and this is always the best one for an overall experience. I wouldn’t recommend going if your in a rush or on a tight budget because that’s not the kind of place this is. This is more of an authentic greek island experience that you will want to enjoy to its fullest. My favourite dishes are the lamb tacos and the Ouzo Shrimp(OPA) in true Greek fashion, I also love the Greek poutine and the spanakopita. If your celiac or gluten intolerant, 99% of the menu is gluten free. They also offer many vegetarian options and vegan dishes. Or, they will make a dish vegan very easily if you request it. We ordered 9 dishes plus desserts and a bottle of fancier wine. We were there a total of 2 hours and received continuous service. We didn’t leave hungry our total bill (1 bill all together) was about 200$ plus tax and tip which is incredibly reasonable with the amount and quality of the food, wine and service. This is a very standard price for nice restaurants in Ottawa. We had no issues paying for this price to encourage a local restaurant we love and we’ve paid a lot more at other restaurants in Ottawa for an experience that was mediocre at best. I strongly recommend aroma meze ! 5 starts !!!
Best tapas in town. Great food. Great wine. Great vegetarian and gluten free.
Delicious dishes, decent portions, affordable prices! COVID protocols are enforced too, so that's comforting to see. Customer service is great - friendy, knowledgeable, efficient. Some dishes might be under seasoned, but a bit of salt and pepper would do the trick. All in all, our experience was delightful! Will be back when in town again!
The best restaurant I had the opportunity to visit in Ottawa. No doubt about that statement. I came here for lunch with my wife. They serve small plates to share. For both of us, four plates were perfect. We ended very satisfied and able to order an amazing dessert with ganache and coconut for a "grand finale". All plates were full of flavor. You really should try their gnocchi. Everything for a fair price.
The beet tower was spectacular. The shrimp ouzo was yummy. The tzatziki was fluffy. The lamb taco was marvelous. The gorgonzola gnocchi was a party in my mouth and the Tiramisu just the right size. The servers were excellent. The wine they recommended went well with each dish. The dish presentation, temperature and timing was phenomenal. My only disappoint was the lamb poutine had way too much gravy on it and the fries become very soggy quickly. Next time I'm in town I will visit again.
The small plates were all delicious. It was awesome to sample so many delicious flavours and the show with the saganaki finished off our meal with a well... Not a bang but more of a Phoooom!
Exactly as advertised, great food, atmosphere and staff. Our party of 8 all enjoyed our meal. The duck egg rolls where amazing and the octopus the best I’ve had.
Tried around 9 dishes with a group of 6. Every one was awesome. Friendly, cozy, comfortable atmosphere; great wine selection. Would love to see a few more nice ecclectic beer options, but there was an option that I liked so not a problem. Highly recommend.
Always a top drawer experience! Never disappointed with the excellent food and service. Highly recommend!!
It was my first time there and what a beautiful experience. The food we shared was out of this world. Service was excellent. Are shared 6 plates. I recommend this place for couples who are celebrating a special occasion. I will go back for more.
One of my favourite spots in Ottawa. If you like Tapas, wine, good service and a great atmosphere this is where it’s at. It’s a quaint restaurant in a small house off Kent street & a perfect date spot!
Great food and nice place. the food are very tasty and delicate.
If you're celiac - EAT HERE! I was recently diagnosed with celiac disease and the foodie in me has been struggling to find fine dining that accommodates my condition. Well look no further then Aroma Meze!! WOW! Most of their menu is gluten free, and everything we had was tantalizingly delicious. Lamb tacos... do I need to say more?! The staff were also super warm and friendly and they made our experience that much more enjoyable. Thank you Aroma Meze for helping this celiac eat great food again. I will definitely be back!
Amazing food and great service! 100% recommend it. If you haven't tried yet, it's definitely a must. Won't be disappointed.
A fun place to eat for couples or small groups. Creative tasting plates designed to share make for a lot of variety in a meal. Sharing a pitcher of Sangria is nice too. The layout has slightly-crowded rooms as they are located in an old brick house.
Amazing, attentive service in an amazing environment. The food was amazing!!
Delicious food and drinks. Seating is outside in the parking lot, but they have done a great job of making it attractive. The lamb tacos were our favourite dish. Small plates you share, adjusted for the number in your party. Reasonably priced and great service. Celiac safe.
Lovely food, wonderful atmosphere!
It was amazing. It was my wife's and I first time visiting. My sister in law is very familiar with the place and suggested it. I like the portion sizes they give and the food is made to perfection. We're from Hamilton and the next time we visit Ottawa we're definitely going back.
From your first step walking in to your last bite Aroma is a treasure of an experience and a wonderful hidden Ottawa gem. The food I tried was all great and excellent quality with fresh ingredients; my favorite being the shrimp gnocchi& scallops. It was all made from scratch and the plating was natural and beautiful. The decor of the restaurant is simply amazing. They can always adjust the food to your liking or your allergies, on my birthday they made the food and service so unforgettably special! If you want to try amazing Greek food, I highly recommend this place! :)
This place is amazing. Prepare to pay a bit more, but really worth it. Service was excellent, food was out of this world. This place serves small dishes. I recommend to order 2-3 tapas for each section per person. Go with someone who you can talk to for a long time. Will definitely be back!
ordered: - Smoked salmon crisp (recommended) - Kopanisti dip (recommended) - Dolmades (not worth the price) - Octapodaki (I liked the pickled red pepper in it) - Phyllo pastry (I liked the combination of fig and goat cheese, it has strong cheese taste) - Creme Brulee (highly recommended) I give 5 stars for the customer service and the over all atmosphere
This place is amazing. It's small so even tho it can be a full house, it's never loud and the service is always quick. The staff is very knowledgeable with the menu and wine pairing. I've been many times and twice have asked them to simply bring me whatever they recommended and it's never didsapointed me. If you go you must try the table flambé cheese. Amazing staff, environment and food. Definitely great place for a date.
Whenever I want a fancy dinner in Ottawa I go here. The prices are very reasonable especially for the quality of food provided. The wine list is extensive. The service is friendly. No complaints at all.
Amazing food and service. Everything was delicious and their menu suggestions were on point! Highly recommended and I will definitely be going again :D.
Excellent food. Had the shrimp gnocchi, grilled octopus, fish tacos and pulled lamb tacos. Staff were great and would definitely go back to try more items.
The food and service at Aroma was amazing. My boyfriend and I went a few days ago and we ordered the beetroot tower, the smoked salmon, the pulled pork tacos and the ostrich. The gluten-free options were plentiful and they were indicated clearly. Each plate came with 2 equal portions, which is perfect for a date. The value is very good as well. Highly recommended!
Fantastic dinner, amazing atmosphere, wonderful staff!
Very good food, small plates, gourmet
I recommend making a reservation because the restaurant fills up quickly. My friend and I ordered 6 dishes which was more than enough! Everything was extremely tasty except the squash gnocchi which was very bland. Everything else we would absolutely recommend. The combination of flavors is on par. We had the smoked salmon, squash gnocchi, octopus, rosemary scallops, lamb sliders and the Greek poutine.
Their tapas are really well done, perfect night out with friends to share some good food!
Went for my birthday dinner. The food was awesome and the customer service was great. We ended up trying the greek salad, zucchini cakes, crab cakes, rosemary scallops, ostrich chimichurri, lamb tacos. The crab cakes and the tacos were out of this world. The desserts did not disappoint. Will definitely go back.
There was a “process” on how the food was served and the kitchen was not able to deviate. While I appreciate the effort on the preparation of the dishes, the food was just okay. If you have children with you or are very hungry, do not come here as they can not accommodate due to their strict serving process. Tbh I was quite disappointed with the service as well as the food. You need to be prepared to spend at like 2hrs at this restaurant.
Excellent tapas, good wine selection, great service. We were a group of 12 friends and pre-selected our meal. The dishes were served on time, although not in the order we had asked for (Hence the 4 star rating). Would definitely recommend.
I've been here twice with girlfriends and the food is delicious and service is great. The first time we all picked something from the menu and then the whole table ate portions of everything as it came out. The second time I did my own thing because I'm picky and wasn't as hungry (when you share with the table it's a LOT of food!), and that was fine for me. They have ouzo dishes that they light on fire when they bring to the table which is very cool. Their desserts are small portions served in glass French yoghurt pots. Their dips are delicious so definitely have that as a starter.
The waitress was very nice, the food was authentic and delicious.
I have no idea why this place has such a great rating. We have booked a table and were there on time. Waited for 10 minutes to be greeted. Then they told us to wait for another ten minutes to be seated so we had to return to the car. After all they gave us a table near an old fence on a parking lot (!) with a view on an ugly apartment building. "Okay"- we though, - "maybe the food is worth it". But what we got was shoking. I understand it when I get small portions. It is absolutely acceptable for high cuisine. But that is clearly not it. I would characterize the place as something with a great taste to it and who knows greek understands it is a rather comforting simple meal with big portions. In our case that was dolmades, shrimps and lamb. We have waited for almost an hour and the guy brought us 2 tiny dolmades. Then he brought TWO shrimps. It is not even a tiny portion, it is more like a joke. And I can't say it tasted that great. For dessert we got 2 dates and a complete disappointment. I have no idea how they get away with it. This place sort of ruined our day trip to Ottawa. Worst $100 spent on a dinner every. At least it was easy to park there.
While visiting Ottawa, my wife and I stopped by for dinner. The food was so good that we had to come back next day to try the rest of the menu. Great idea to share several small portions so you have much more choices than in regular …
The space is dated but the food is delicious. I really appreciate that they adjust the portions based on the size of your party. Great menu and friendly service.
This place is amazing - and don't let the inconspicuous entrance fool you, inside the restaurant is quite cozy and spacious. Food here is really something else, and as a matter of fact the dishes are already set in such a way to ease sharing them between two people (or, at least, that was my case). Still in the food side of things - or, more precisely, on the dessert -, I'm a bit of a tiramisu aficionado, and it saddens me to say theirs is nothing to write home about, albeit it ain't bad per se. But should you be in search for a nice place to take someone out, you need not look any further. Oh, forgot to mention - still on dessert, if you bring someone here to be impressed, order the creme brûlée. 'nuff said.
Good food for fair prices. Shared plates so you get to try a variety of dishes! I unfortunately forgot to take pictures of most but have a few attached here that I did remember to grab. Very friendly service, got to enjoy dinner outside while it is still warm enough to do so! Would eat here again :)
The waitress recommended that we ordered 5 to 6 plates and the orders will come out every 10 minutes. Dinner for 2 was roughly 60 dollars for 6 orders. The food is well presented and some plates were tastier than others. Each plate is tapas size (being one or two bite. Example is the pork belly in the pic) I recommend to reserve in advance because the restaurant fills up quickly.
Great place to try in Ottawa! Love the drinks and specially the food. Each plate had their own unique flavor. My partner and I had a great time at this restaurant. Love the fact that we get to share what we ate. We will be back soon. Happy happy customer.
Great hand crafted, flavorful cocktails. A bit of a higher price point and some drinks were quite small, however, some unique and interesting concoctions we all thoroughly enjoyed. They have some nice late night eats as well. Friendly service also!!
All time fave! Service is also impeccable, that's additional to the heavenly food of course!
This isn't the place to go if you want to grab a quick bite to eat. However, it's a great place to go if you have 1.5-2 hours to spend with good company and conversation. It's Mediterranean style, meaning each dish is prepared to be shared, so I recommend each person orders 3-4 dishes, along with some extra bread for snacking on between dishes. The flavors are well designed, dishes are nicely plated, and dietary accommodations can be made, even for gluten free and vegans. Service was excellent too.
A small place with parking only on the street. Each dish is a taste for two, elegantly prepared and presented, with guests typically choosing half a dozen. Most tastes are very reserved, not concentrated or overstated, but excellent. Service couldn't be better. Worth a visit for a special occasion with your s.o.
Great place to eat. Food portions are perfect for 2 people sharing. Everything was top notch. Very friendly vibe too.
Very excellent foods!! Kind service and explain about food.
Aroma meze was an amazing dining experience. Our servers were Katarina and Connie were attendant all the time and they provided nothing but an exceptional service. All the dishes we ordered were appetizing, my favourite was the pulled lamb …
My girlfriend and I had an amazing dinner here tonight. Our server Zach was fantastic, he was very helpful and was great to interact with, thanks again Zach! We had 6 plates + dessert. Every dish we tried was tasty and flavourful. We will be coming back soon!
One of our favorite places yet! Incredible Greek tapas with some of the best service we have experienced. By far the best value per dish we have seen anywhere. Such a great wine selection with an incredible story behind each one. Highlights included Zucchini cakes, two dips with pita (YUM!), stuffed mushrooms, risotto balls to die for, and rosemary scallops. We topped off the night with 2 little desserts in a jar (Chocolate coconut and blueberry cheesecake in a jar), both were so creamy and delicious! I can't wait to go back to try other items.
Where do I start...everything is just...WOW! I've been here multiple times and every time they amaze me. It's an addiction I never want to kick. This is the perfect place to come for small plates and great drinks. Their item Octapodaki (which is cooked octopus with veggies and seasonings) is so great I cannot put into words. The octopus is cooked just right that it's tender (closest thing I could come pare it to is perfectly cooked chicken haha). Their Ouzu Shrimp, Gorgonzola Gnocchi, Saganaki, and Shrimp Gnocchi are only just some of my staples I get every time I go...there better be some left the next time I go now that I have let you in on my little secret????... I bet you that you could close your eyes and pick anything off of the menu and drive your tastebuds wild with pleasure.
We tried most of everything on the menu. Some items were fantastic but other items were a let down. The service was a bit slow - it took 15 minutes to get a drink order and then glasses sat empty. We would have had a few more cocktails but the pacing was off. There are better tapas places in Ottawa.
What can I say except that this place is fantastic. Four of us had a full meal with wine for around $150. Every small plate you order is meant as a tapa for two, so for the four of us we doubled the price on the menu. We each ordered one, and they were all excellent. The salmon crackers, the gorgonzola gnocchi, and the lamb tacos were standouts. It is a smallish place so reservations are recommended. The downside is the volume of conversation does get pretty loud. The service was good.
Just went for our anniversary and really enjoyed the concept of small plates and the service was nice too. Nice little presentations, love the menu selection and everything was really good. Like that the staff knew what to recommend, when it's your first time it's always appreciate getting some nice recommendations on their menu. Average of 6 to 8 plates for 2 is enough. Didn't feel rush and they bring one at the time which is great when you wanna take your time and enjoy the moment. Waiting for next occasion to go back!
We came here with family to celebrate a birthday and were pleasantly surprised! We tried a bunch of different items and enjoyed tasting such a great variety and sharing dishes. Totally worth it if you like Greek food! We also loved that almost all dishes are or can be gluten-free. The only 'negative' was that it was a hot evening and the AC was not very efficient in keeping the room cool, but the food more than made up for it!
We love this restaurant!! It's our favourite in Ottawa and we only discovered it just before the pandemic hit. We can't wait to be able to go back and bring our families as soon as we are able to!
Excellent food, great service. Very enjoyable experience. Variety of platters to share! Only bad thing was the very impractical tea cups!
Came here at 4:30 p.m on a Saturday. We didn;t have reservations but were lucky that they had an empty seating for 2 hours, which is more than enough time. The place is small so I think booking a reso would be a good idea. We came from eating dim sum, so tapas was a good choice. This is quality tapas style, so you need to keep a few things in mind: 1. You need to order at least 4-6 items if you have a big appetite (and that might not be enough for some people) which leads into 2. You'll probably spend some good coin here. But don't let any of that scare you off because the food is great! Saganaki - can't go wrong with cheese! it comes on a hot cast iron plate and the server pours brandy over the cheese to flambee it tableside. Get your phones out if you're looking to snap a pic or vid. We missed it the first time and our server was kind enough to to a reset and get more brandy. The cheese it's self was nice and salty and super cheesy. The cheese will pull like it does in cartoons. Artichoke fritters - the flavour of the artichoke was not drowned out by the deep frying. The mozzarella mixed in gave it a nice texture. Fish tacos - the cod was perfectly fried. The flavours were clean. The corn tortilla it came on tasted good but I didn't like the texture. It didn't feel smooth. Madjool Stuffed Dates - classic combination with the blue cheese. What really sent this over the edge was the added foie gras! The candied walnuts gave a nice texture contrast to an other wise mushy bite. Will definitely return to try other items the next time we're in the Ottawa area. 4.5 stars but google doesn't allow halves for some reason.
Ordered the fish and lamb tacos over the phone for takeout. They had them ready in less then 10 minutes and they were amazing. Will be back to try more of the menu and the tacos again.
Great food paired with great service leads to a very enjoyable dining experience. Our favourites are Ostrich Chimichurri, Calamari, Salmon Crisp, Specialty Dessert and Chocolate Natillas.
Great place to try out it's a bit on the pricy side but totally worth it. Number one suggestion - make reservations, we showed up at 8:30pm thinking we would get a seat however we got turned away. So we ended up making reservations the next evening. It's away from the city centre but still a walkable distance. We ordered Duck Confit Spring Roll, Shrimp Gnocchi, Eggplant Roulade, Crab Cake, Greek Poutine, and Pulled LampTacos. They are all small plates, depending on your appetite between two people you should order 5-6 dishes. Our waitress suggested 6 dishes, so we ordered 6 which was a bit too much for us. Depending on what you order a lot of the dishes have a lot of cheese so it'll fills you up. If you are in Ottawa you should definitely give this place a try.
Great dining experience. I absolutely loved everything we ordered, but the shrimp with gnocchi and the stuffed dates were standouts. The service was excellent and the order the dishes were brought out was well thought out. Will definitely come back!
I don't use the word amazing often but, this place was beyond that. The food is spectacular and you can taste the passion.
Food was okay. However if you go in a big group, your wait times will be very long. Service was good. Overall a decent experience.
The place has the feeling of a small tavern with tasty food. My fav was the poutine and pulled lamb taco. Service was nice.
Great food & service, even the fussiest eaters will enjoy! That's how good their food is....it's wonderful.
All of the foods are great! There are many dishes can be choices . It’s really needs to come back again.
Had a wonderful dinner here for my girlfriend's birthday. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and everything was very reasonably priced. I will definitely return and would recommend to anyone!
This restaurant is a wonderful small, intimate spot in centretown. Definitely make reservations, as there are only a handful of tables and people tend to spend a long time over the meal. Everything we had was delicious (Greek poutine, …
I cannot stress enough how incredible this establishment is. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere is intimate and cozy but also great for larger groups or small functions. I am at a loss for words as to describe how pleased myself and our group of 6 diners were this evening. We will definitely all be coming back. As an executive chef from vancouver and lover of all things food and booze, I can assure you that this is where you need to be regardless if you are just visiting or live here. Do not ignore this gem.
took clients here for dinner and drinks - outstanding - highly recommend for any occasion !
Hands down the BEST mediterranean food I have ever had! Every dish is unique and flavorful. The atmosphere is very cosy and intimate. The waiters are lovely! And the food is impeccable. Highly, highly recommend.
Hidden gem in downtown Ottawa. Cozy ambiance, good service and very very tasty food. I recommend making a reservation before going, but if you can't, the wait is worthwhile.
Nice small quiet place. You order a few things off the menu to share with everyone at the table and they bring out 1 plate at a time with X number of pieces for the whole group. Fun way to try and share everything. The dates with fois Gras, cheese and candied walnut was a great way to finish dinner.
One of my favourite restaurants in Ottawa. If you haven't tried the lamb sliders or gnocchi you're missing out!! Great service and attention to quality. My latest favourite is the pulled lamb tacos. Must go!!
Food at this restaurant is amazing. Our group had the ratatouille, the shrimp with gnocchi, the open-faced chicken, the lamb tacos and the Greek poutine. Truly everything was remarkable. Service was at a good pace, and the bill was within reason.
So good! Must try the octopus and the meatballs! Excellent service. Second time here and we will be back.
Food is delicious. The place is very comfy and servers will explain how to order if you are new there. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a good experience.
Cozy atmosphere although the food is devine! Love the tapas and sample menu style. Let’s you have a taste of all the delicious authentic dishes
One of the best restaurants in town (hidden to some). Always good food even for take out, always good service and just a nice fun yummy experience.
After hearing good things about the food my wife and I had to try it. I wasn't much for tapas prior but they definitely changed my opinion. Great food for anyone. I highly recommend aroma Meze. Make sure you call ahead and make a reservation they are often booked throughout the night.
Yes, the homework paid off, as I have never had lobster or lobster-flavored biscuits as good as they make 'em (they are so good that who cares if they have lobster bits in them or not). They give a basket of four before the big players come. Best of all, you can ask for more biscuits!I had a lobster pizza for an appetizer. The pizza has cheese, lobster, tomato and red bell pepper on it, and it was delicious. Not bad for $15.
I had a really nice date at Aroma Meze this past weekend. Made a reservation because my girlfriend loves Greek food and tapas, so this seemed like the perfect spot. The tapas are served at a slower pace than most restaurants, and all in all the meal lasted approx. two hours Our server (Zachary) was super friendly and knowledgeable on all of the different tasting options, which were all very interesting and flavourful, though there are some dishes that we thought were better than others. Our favourites of the night were definitely the Ouzo Shrimp, and the Beetroot Tower. All in all, a very unique restaurant that makes for a perfect date location! A little on the pricey side (food and wine was around $95), but well worth it if you’re looking to treat that special someone in your life.
Great flavour bites and fun to eat. Start at the top and walk your way through the menu, winner! The medjool date as a dessert was incredible.
Highly recommended meze restaurant! The dishes were fantastic, the tuna was a standout favourite: so tender! The quality of the food was matched by the service of our waitress (sorry we did it catch your name!) she was so attentive over the evening and gave great info on the different dishes. We had a great night, thank you to the kitchen for the great food and to our waitress for great service and chat!
I have been eating at Aroma Meze for over 6 years. Every time I go, I’m astounded by the knowledge of the waitstaff and the quality of the food. The wine list is always delicious. I’ve made a fan out of everyone I’ve ever brought there. Superb service and attention to detail. Can’t wait for my next reservation!
Delicious food with amazing service! Went there for a date night and we really enjoyed the experienced staffs and the presentation of the food. The only problem was the noise! It was extremely noisy!!! There were 3 tables near us, they were sooooo loud. Since the place is very small and has no acoustic features (panels), you can't really complain much about the noise. Not ideal for the first date night in my opinion! But the food is yummy!
Such a great evening! The service was excellent, the waiter was very friendly. I highly recommend the octopus. I loved the avgolemono sauce (chicken meatballs) and the ouzo shrimps!
Food is good, service is great. If you like tapas/ small apertizer meals, then this is the place for you. That said, when the place is busy, food can take a while to come, since it does seem like they get over booked.
Food was plentiful, flavorful and well plated! There were intervals between each dish, so you could savor each. A delightful way to spend an evening. Will definitely return when next in Ottawa.
Tried Aroma Meze for the first time last night. Everything that we ordered was delicious and the service was great. We will be back!
Me & my partner had a incredible experience at Aroma! All the food was incredible and the service was great. Would definitely go again and recommend to a friend.
We thought it would be nice to have a nice dinner out with the kids, but we left hungry after 2 hours of mostly waiting for food. We were planning on ordering 8 dishes. The waiter told us that 6 was the normal amount and anything over that would be too much food. We ended up getting 7 plates and just in case we paid about $3 more per plate to have an extra portion since their plates are made for two people (we were four people). We were so disappointed. The portion sizes were small. For some dishes it was literally one bite or a half bite per person. Each plate came out one at a time. It took between 15-20 minutes for each plate and only about 1-2 minutes to consume. For items like grilled zucchini or flambéd cheese, there is no reason at all why it would take so long or cost so much (we paid $111 in the end) and will not be going back.
Adorable restaurant with delicious food! Service was top notch and would recommend this place for sure.
A group of 5 of us came in on a reservation on a really busy day and then we had an extra person which they accomodated for anyways. The whole staff from the servers to the kitchen were super friendly and welcoming. Our server Zacharia really stood out with his positive and friendly attitude made you feel like you belonged there. Like you were at his home and being served. Dont even get me started on the food. Absolutely amazing. The keftedes were my favorite. Thanks for an amazing fun night full of laughter and love.
Amazing little resto. The food is great. The place is small but cozy. The blueberry tea is delicious. The plates are small and perfect for trying multiple plates to share.
Really happy we found this place! Excellent and imaginative dishes. Great flavours and good value. Our favourite was the grilled octopus. The artichoke fritters were also really good. We had about seven dishes and they were all great. There are enough wines to choose from as well as beers. The staff are the icing on the cake. Our server knew the menu well and was very friendly. Can’t go wrong with this place.
Foods come in small portions but given the prices, it seems somewhat reasonable. This restaurant is not like other brunch places (no eggs beneddict or bagel sandwich, etc.,), their foods are more like the appetizers you would get from high end restaurants.
This restaurant has excellent food, great service and a great atmosphere. I'm recommending it too all of my friends.
The wine selection and food here were delicious, and our server friendly and informative about the style of dinner- selecting several plates that come out tapas style (in the order the kitchen chose, with a portion for every person at the table and that a typical order was 6 sharing plates) however our dinner itself took over 3 hours, with 1.5 hrs going by before the first dish (as well as inconsistently served tables). The food and presentation were very well done, however I have to take into account I had to grab pizza on the way home.
Brilliant Tapas and very interesting menu and delivery of same. Nice beer and even nicer wines. Great service, helpful advice on menu options. Gluten free options great.
