Pricy, but worth spending the money since they provides tipis where you can warm up in between the sightings. This place is a must go for seeing the Northern Lights. The tour guides were amazing, so friendly and informative. On our first night of the viewing the Aurora got very strong as we had to leave but our tour guide let us stay a little longer until in calmed back down, his words were "it is just too good to leave yet" and I thought that was amazing. As you have to pay extra for extensions. I have to say there were A LOT of Asians there. About 95% of the tourists were Asian. I thought the teepees were great to warm up in when you stated to get a little chilly from being in -40°C weather. The dinning Hall was also another great spot to get out of the cold with a bar and food menu we found ourselves in there every night for a late night bite and drink, and the food was amazing! They also supply you with winter clothes if needed. Which we took advantage of. They were extreamly warm and comfortable. Would not have been able to do without! The Aurora village staff was also very helpful when it come to the sizes of the clothing when we arrived we tried in our clothing and some things didn't fit we we just walk to the office (which was right around the corner) and they switch out the clothing for us. The only complaint I had was the 30 min bus ride from our hotel to the village was always freezing cold! Although how can you blame the bus. It was -40°C out side. Overall my experience was amazing! Very happy with everything, and would love to go back one day!

It was my second time going to Yellowknife for Aurora viewing. I was with another local tour group back in Feb 2016. The place I stayed three nights for the aurora viewing was just a wood shed built temporarily on the ice. Of course the price would be more affordable and no surcharge for extra stay. During the last Christmas time, I booked all my daytime and nighttime tours with Aurora Village. The main reason to go with them this time is the Teepees at their village. According to their sayings, they are the only travel agency who knows how to build Teepee in Yellowknife. It is quite comfy staying inside the Teepee. And I would say it is definitely a nice object in your aurora photos. However, it will be a little bit more expensive and requesting extended stay is not free. Their village is around 20 minutes driving away from downtown, nice and quiet. There are hills and lakes, and also a restaurant with the dining option of three course dinner. I also had the dog sledding, snowshoeing, city tour and clothes rental booked with them. Overall speaking, my 4-day aurora viewing experience at the Yellowknife was very good. I would recommend booking the tours with them.

(Original) カナダの雄大な自然を感じられ、オーロラは最高！またティーピーと呼ばれる施設内で暖まりながら、そこに集まった人達と会話も楽しむ。 なんか当たり前だけど、ネット社会でメッセージでの会話が当然になってる昨今だからこそ、そんな事も新鮮に思える場所でした。 チップについてです。 日本人の我々には日本人スタッフが付いてくれます。カナダはチップ社会、担当してくれた日本人にドルが無かったので、日本円でチップを渡しましたが、喜んでくれて良かった。 どうしてもオーロラを撮影したいカメラマンの為に経験から学んだ事を以下に共有しておきます。 三脚持参は必須。使い慣れた三脚をオススメします。極寒の中で慣れない機材はミスの元ですしので持参が大事です。 また手袋はレンタルがありますが、カメラ操作は出来ない指が無い手袋なので、薄目の手袋を持参しレンタル手袋との二重装着にして、操作するときに素手に成らないようにする事をオススメします。 またタッチパネル操作をしないように予め設定しておくと良いかも。極寒の中でタッチパネルの細かい設定は辛いと思います。 レンタル手袋を操作の度に脱着するので、紐と洗濯バサミを持参し首からぶら下げるようにすると良いです。 操作の度に雪の上にレンタル手袋を置いたり、脇に挟んだりと散々でしたので。寒い時期は数秒でもレンタル手袋してないと辛すぎです。 またティーピーの中で出現を待つのは観光客、ネイチャー撮影をされてる方は理解してくれると思いますが、自然現象は一瞬の時もあります。屋外には要所要所に折り畳み椅子があるので、そこで三脚を設置して出現を待つのが大事です。 肉眼では見れないレベル1.2のオーロラはカメラで撮影しないと分からないので、色々な方角を撮影し、オーロラを見つけてアングル、レンズ等を調整する等やることは沢山です。 ピントは星に合わせます。無限設定と簡単に書いてありますが、ライブビュー拡大でしっかりピントはマニュアルで星に合わせましょう。 撮影前提の方は設定を参考にしてください。ISO1000前後、シャッター10秒、絞り2.8解放。レンズは14mmと20mmの使い分け。遠すぎたり小さいオーロラだと14mmだと雄大さに欠ける場合もあり、20mm台のレンズも持参必要です。 最後にロケーションですが、ティーピーとオーロラを撮影すると露出が合わないのですが、雰囲気ある写真が撮れます。 人口光を入れたく無い場合は、バッファローの丘に行くと人工物も入らずに撮れると思います。
