I went there because of good review and we Lowe garlic.Find a place can't call a restaurant place was dirty!Food was tasteless my burger was almost cold and my wife food was no better. Only staff was trying to make it better,while we had our supper they use blender or some other kitchen tools which was loud. On the end I think most of this reviews are fake to get people there .

The best food we ate our entire honeymoon in Canada. The garlic Caesar salad was one of the best I’ve ever had. The flatbread was delicious too (and the leftovers made for a great breakfast the next morning), and the poutine was hands down the best poutine I’ve ever had. Even the vanilla garlic ice cream was to die for. We might have to make it back to Nelson sooner than planned, just to have another meal here at Outer Clove....

Quite disappointed , after my girlfriend kept going on for months about how good the food was and raved about the caesar salad, we finally got to go eat at the restaurant. While looking at the menu I found it too be quite overpriced for what we received. The caesar salad was very bland and disappointing at a $12 charge which we received what seemed to be a side caesar and not a full , as was the chicken quasar burger which had zero to no flavour. I also pointed out too the waitress that I have a slight allergy to tomatoes and did not want it on my burger. She was kind about it, but than once the burger was brought to the table it had a tomato on it.. even when we had a good conversation about my situation with them. She offered to make me a new burger which was nice, but I was not willing to wait another 40+ minutes for a burger that already did not look very appealing to begin with. All in all was a poor experience for being my first time there. The waitress was very friendly and cut our caesar salad price in half , but I do not plan on going back. From what I've heard , the restaurant is not the same as it used to be, as I've heard many good things about the place in general. Anyways, I hope others have a better experience than I did.

The food was fresh, garlicky, and generous in portion sizing. I found that the extras, such as adding mushroom paprikash onto a schnitzel for $4, were very overpriced for the very small amount you got. The same went for the bacon on the perogies, which was also extra ($3) and almost none was provided for the extra money. Would recommend this place for a meal though! Just stick with menu items and don't pay the extra for more fixings.

Dropped in on a whim. Unpretentious vibe and good service. The menu was mostly vegetarian but varied. The falafel wrap, as simple as that seems, was perfect.....every bite savored. Fresh, crisp and perfectly seasoned. Just great, healthy meal. Highly recommended!

That langos bread is sooooo good. I took it home and made a breakfast sandwich for the morning. This photo is Mushroom Paprikash. I had it with mashed potatoes rather than the spaetzle. I found the portion size of the mash was a little small but the dish was great!

Made a reservation for Saturday late afternoon. Place was empty when we arrived and we got to choose a pretty setting by the window. Server was very friendly and mindful of COVID protocols. Had the 1/2 order of Halusky, which was pure comfort food goodness. Reminds me of a creamy Gnocci and Cheese. 40 Clove Fries is a knock out and must eat. So much garlic and the fries were light and crispy. Reminds me of an elevated version of McDonald’s fries. Also tried the Cordon Clove. The roasted garlic stuffed inside was so good. The chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy. I was hoping the mashed potatoes would have garlic in it. Unfortunately it was a little on the bland side, but maybe my tastebuds were overwhelmed with so much garlic from the other dishes. Definitely a place to visit when you’re in Nelson. The happy hour food menu from 3-5pm is a great way to try a lot of fantastic dishes. Will be back again!

I have loved this place for the last ten years since moving to Nelson. I am a garlic lover, so naturally i was vary exited to find a restaurant dedicated to international cuisine focusing on a garlic theme, tying all the dishes together. They even have garlic Chip cookies which are delicious and as other reviews mention, locally made garlic ice cream, and their own locally made garlic hot sauce which is available upon request. I will not pretend that i am not biased, considering that after nine years of being a happy customer i asked to join their work force, and now you might see me as your waiter a couple days a week. Even after working there for more than a year now, i still love the food and would highly recommend this place to anyone that enjoys garlic... and even to those that don't.

I ordered the salmon dish with to Thai curry and rice. Very well-balanced fish and amazing taste. Loved it. Highly recommend it.

Dinner was fabulous. We weren't sure what to expect as the menu is anything but usual. The cabbage rolls were wonderful and not skimpy on meat. The chicken paprikash was very good as well. This little restaurant has such a nice atmosphere. There is outdoor seating but I recommend getting a table inside. I also recommend making a reservation. Prices are fair. Portions are fair. Flavors are superb and service was excellent.

My wife and I went in here for our last night in Nelson. We got the last two seats available in a full house. Regardless of how full they were, the waitresses were very attentive and gave us great service. The burgers were PHENOMENAL. I had the battered chicken burger and my wife had the black and blue burger. They were fantastic! Would absolutely recommend anyone go there. And the price was very reasonable.

This place had great food. We found it by accident on our vacation. Three of us tried three different dishes and were impressed by all three. One of my favorite meals all weekend!! Cauliflower wings to start, pretty good. Perogies next, even better. But the real winner was the Poutine a la brasso! Omg I can’t even convey just how awesome it was. Would definitely eat here again, with the poutine of course. Garlic cookie was delicious too, although didn’t taste much garlic.. it was my first time here and supposedly their food used to be even stronger with the garlic. I think it’s time to turn it back up again. But def check it out!

My first experience with Hungarian food - this place was a total gem! I’m an adventurous eater and tried some (apparently) traditional Hungarian dishes, but there was lots on the menu for someone looking for a burger or pasta. The food was delicious, fresh, and seemed authentic (again, my first experience so I’m going on a bit of a limb with that assessment - regardless, it was all fantastic). Strongly recommend the cherry soup, Hungarian flatbread things, chicken paprikash, and golden raisin crepe! Go here (but not when I’m in town)!

They recently changed the menu a bit and removed the small charcuterie platter but that's not a big deal as they still have the larger one. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DON'T LIKE GARLIC. SERIOUSLY. (Point taken from a couple at another table) To be frank, this place is amazing. The inner/outer is quite possibly the best brie and garlic fusion in existence. My heart goes out to another table who ordered after us later in the evening when they had polished off the last of this delectable appy. Our entrees were on point. Though we only sampled two of them between us, I doubt there's anything on the menu that wouldn't rate as wonderful. To sum up, go here!

Pork schnitzel and veggie moussaka were excellent! Good service, atmosphere was nice, only thing we noticed was that our server was mopping floor while we were eating so that was a bit of a turnoff.

Wow. Always walked on by but today finally stopped in. Fantastic quality ingredients and super fresh. Had the burger and it blew my expectations away; hot, fresh, juicy. You could taste the flavour of the beef and the bun was next level, the condiments were tasty but not overwhelming. Hands down best burger and fries I've had in Nelson. My son had the kids burger on gluten free bun and loved it as well. Thanks for a tasty meal Outer Clove! Nice staff as well ????

Pleasant surprise! This restaurant is No longer a garlic based restaurant, it IS a Hungarian restaurant that is heavy on garlic so they seem to have kept the name but changed everything else (no more roasted garlic appy on the menu) I am not super familiar with Hungarian food, but I decided to jump in and give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised! The flatbread is small, deep fried bread (yum) which I find sweet and chewy. Got the mushroom paprishka(?) And all the food, it was enough for two people to eat. The ceasers are garlicy as hell so I LOVED them... Food was tasty, friendly service, a bit slow and menu isn't as busy as it could be but it has enough to be able to find something. I see they've also added more vegetarian options. Wouldn't say being vegan here is easy, but vegetarian no worries.

Wow! Potent, raw but not painful garlic. I almost never order just salad but serendipitously did and that Goat Herder Salad is bomb. I'd lick the plate too had I known someone else before me did. Such lovely service to boot.

We had the poutine, paprikash, cabbage rolls and the strawberry flat bread. The poutine was a little lacking in toppings (especially the meat toppings as described in the menu) but was still tasty with a strong garlic punch. Main dishes were good, not overly seasoned, tasted like comforting home made food though the chicken was a bit weird with its processed meat like texture. The dessert was so yummy, couldn't stop eating it!

Fish was overcooked and pastas were less than ordinary. Portobello-lentils was tasteless. Noodles and calamari were good and service was cheerful and efficient. So-so wine list. They go a bit overboard with the garlic theme.

This place is excellent! Food was fantastic. Great patio. Fair prices. Good portions. By far, this was some of the best food we enjoyed during our two week trip. We enjoyed lunch here (mushroom crepes) and returned a few days later for dinner. Highly, very highly recommend!

Amazing home style burgers! If you ever are in the mood for big delicious burgers made with love, this place is for you. Multiple trips have never been disappointing. Just beware it can be a little busy sometimes!

What a wonderful little gem tucked on a side street in downtown Nelson. We both had the loco taco, a soft taco with black beans holding a hardshell haddock fish taco with coleslaw. The flavors were outstanding, the ingredients were obviously high quality, great coffee and side salad to boot. The cap it off, the waitress was lovely and attentive. Definitely worth a stop when you're in the Kootenay's.

Ridiculously out of this world food. The 40’clove fries are a must ! We got the cordon clove and the cabbage rolls between three of us and had to take a portion to go ! Safe to say it tasted just as good if not better at 11 o’clock that night

Really good food, hands down. Family friendly, with a small collection of toys for kids to play with while waiting. Somewhat of a small venue, so just keep that in mind during the busy seasons.

Lately this restaurant has been left in the dust by the many new and impressive places to eat in Nelson. Don't let the empty seats fool you the food is better than many of Nelson's restaurants. To the locals... Go eat there and keep this place open. To travelers... Many of Nelsons repeat visitors make a point of eating here every time they visit for good reason... Good food for those who love garlic.

Truly out-of-this-world food that took me back to my childhood. We had the langos, goulash soup, halusky and the wild mushroom crepes, and had to stop ourselves from licking our plates clean. Our server, Lisa, was super friendly and attentive. Overall, one of the best dining experiences ever. I just wish we lived closer to Nelson!

Nice idea, concept was awesome and the menu looked good. Food was not great, kind of poorly executed. Just not very hot, starch seemed old (microwaved I think) and the paprika gravy was watery and tasted a bit weird.......I will try again when I am in town next, hopefully it was just an off day as the menu looks great!
