Great tasting experience. During covid make sure to make a reservation. All the wines are well balanced, complex and quite good!
We did the winery tour and this was the best place far away from the others winery's that we visited also I really want to mention if you have the opportunity to come here and be attend for Chris well you experience it's going to be amazing. For sure you will buy wine here if you don't have experience it's wine they will guide you. Chris rocks.
Very nice sweet wines.
We are doing a week of tastings and trying to be judicious in our purchases. Nevertheless, we walked out with 6 bottles of wine today (for reference, we rarely exceed 2 bottles). It would be a mistake to come to Naramata and overlook this fantastic winery. The staff we interacted with were very knowledgeable and the product is way above average. We'll probably end up joining the wine club.
Beautiful spot.
Great wine and incredible service :)
A must visit for French wine lovers.
Had La Frenz supply the wine for our wedding and it was a gigantic hit. Not a bottle left at the end of the night and everyone was asking where to get more! Thanks Again to the Winery for helping us out
nice winery with a good product
Excellent wines - I'm even trying a Pinot Noir! The port is also very nice. Great staff!!
The only disappointing thing about this winery is how popular is getting! ???? The tasting room is often packed, but for good reason. Consistently good wines.
Very busy, pleasant staff handled it well. Reds are still quite young yet pricey, very nice whites.
Jeff and Niva are amazing hosts . The real deal . The wines are top quality . Don't miss the views wine tasting with their knowleadgable staff!!
La Frenz winery provides the best wine tasting experience ever! It was a unique it that they gave you all 4 samples at once, to sip at your leisure, allowing you to go back to the first one, comparing it to the next. Sitting on the patio with the beautiful views was so much nicer than standing at a counter. And then they gave us bonus pours as well! Laura and Janice, thank you for such a wonderful time. And we love the wine too! Highly recommend this winery to all, the whites, reds and fortified all delicious and reasonably priced.
Great wines with a great view. Sit inside or out on the patio. Knowledgable staff. Got a great history lesson on the view that was featured on the old 100 Canadian bill.
Beautiful patio to do tastings on. Some of the best wine on the bench. Great service
Super nice patio furniture, clone 21 was very good and sweet
Fantastic, friendly service. We had a tasting out on the patio and would definitely recommend this experience to any one visiting.
Great tasting
International small winery of the year. Wine tasting was good. The red was sold out. They let you select one of three wine category. We chosed the nice white. One sparkling, and white with different year. You can tell the taste difference from year to year.
Amazing wine
La Frenz Apparently, the best winery in Naramata is not located on the main road. It doesn’t feature a massive architectural wonder or a spectacular view (though said view is nothing to be ashamed of). On the surface, one would assume La Frenz to be a second stringer, not a first pick draft for the team…or however, that jargon works; I don’t do sports. We had visited La Frenz originally on our second day in Penticton, the last winery before continuing our wine journey in Kelowna. Over seven days, my girlfriend and I visited sixty wineries and brought back 120 bottles. Several were from La Frenz, and although I enjoyed the experience, we weren’t initially planning a revisit on our second wine tour with friends only a few weeks ago. And then La Frenz won a boatload of awards from some international competition, cleaning house so-to-speak, proving once again that Canadian (and more specifically Okanagan) wineries are not to be trifled with. It also proved irrefutably that quality vineyards are migrating slowly north to track the onslaught of man-made climate change. Nearly all the victors either came from the Okanagan or Columbia Valley in Washington State. La Frenz is not particularly attractive from the onset. You turn in from an off-road and follow a path fringed by vineyards until reaching the inclined parking lot. At the base of the hill is the less attractive production building while the tasting room sits at the end of the short path marked by flowers and gates. Inside is a rather unremarkable and snug tasting room dominated by a single rectangular bar. The artwork on the wall is spectacular. This leaves the tasting experience, another high point given the quality of the wine. If you don’t want to cram you or/and your group into this space, you can decide to go outside and have a personalized tasting experience, which few wineries offer. Despite the appeal, we elected for the standard tasting. Returning to those awards, the irony is that most of their traditional wines didn’t impress me. They weren’t bad; I am just a weirdo that likes ports, liqueurs, and ice-wines. There was one exception, the Malbec, which remains unopened in my cellar. I also own the tawny fortified and a pair of liqueur muscats. Both bottles are extremely pleasant and not very expensive. I’ll admit that on our second trip only a few weeks ago, we added La Frenz on the docket based purely on their recent recognition. We don’t regret it; the experience matched the quality of the last, and I can see making such a visit a tradition. Is such acknowledgment justified? I don’t have the refined palette or experience to counter such the acknowledgment. Within Naramata, it’s near the top, but over the entire Okanagan, I can’t personally agree. Personally, there are wineries in Osoyoos with better bottles. But this is not a competition, and La Frenz is a great winery nonetheless, accolades or not.
Beautiful tasting experience
Server was rude and rushed. Did not enjoy this experience.
As it was our familiy’s first time visiting the vineyards in Naramata, La Frenz did not disappoint as our first tasting. The experience was elevated with the sit down tasting, view, and even some breadsticks between wines. Our server, Chelsey, was very nice and knowledgeable and let us try one wine off the reserve menu, even though we opted to stick with the regular tastings. We were able to compare both chardonnay’s and elected to purchase the Malbec in the end. It was a hot day and we also did not expect the cool mist either. We arrived earlier in the day (11AM) and by the time we left, the patio and parking lot were full by 11:45. Thank You, La Frenz!
Very tasty wine and a really cute, well run tasting room with nice people.
Always great! They were practicing social distancing.
I have always enjoyed visiting La Frenz because I enjoy many of their wines. They have changed their tastings to a sit down tasting. We were under a bit of time pressure but thought 25 minutes was going to be enough time for a tasting. It was a busy weekend but predictably so for a long weekend. We only managed to taste one wine in that time as our server was occupied at the till with two groups purchasing wine. We eventually got up to leave and were then noticed by other staff who said we would be served. By then we had to leave so made a purchase of the one wine tasted and left. We were disappointed we didn't get a full tasting and would have bought more wine. When we checked in we made it clear we were happy with a stand up tasting at the bar but there was a priority given to seating groups. The setting is pleasant and if one has plenty of time to lounge on a patio with long intervals to ponder your empty tasting glass that is fine, but if you are there to taste and buy I strongly suggest you just head for the old style tasting. They need a person to do till only and allow servers to serve.
The whites here are great! We had a nice steated tasting and all walked away with something.
I can't even to express how good their Alexandria white wine is, go ahead and buy it by the case!!! I'm also a big fan of the Aster Brut, dry with full of crisp fruit flavour. This vineyard is aesthetically pleasing, with vine growing up the lattice on their patio overlooking countless vineyards and the lake.
Awesome boutique winery ..and they are open for tasting
Like a private wine tasting experience. The views off the tasting room's veranda is like a picture frame down to Okanagan lake. Lots of great panoramic views at the other wineries but you get a certain focused view that feels private and secluded. Something exclusive and perhaps thats what the winemaker's want to reflect of their wines. Add a non-rushed and classy service by the friendly staff, I think makes for refined experience. Make reservations to ensure you get a spot.
Their Sauvignon Blanc is one of the best.
Great view, good service, good wines. Our tasting person was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Wine tasted great! Service was disappointing. Was on a wine tour and wasn’t treated politely.
Amazing tasting. Hosted by Blake. He was knowledgeable and guided us through our journey. It was an amazing visit and the winery ensured everyone had an amazing experience. Highly recommend a stop and taste.
Great tasting experience, sitting on the patio with no one to rush you unlike other places (5/5). Attentive service from Karen, she was a gem. Good quality wines (4/5); we particularly enjoyed the Alexandria as it was quite unique.
Great wine, friendly staff and if you plan your trip on food there's complimentary bread sticks
Great tasting with excellent information and realistic food recommendations from our lovely server, Blake. We had a lovely time and would recommend for an amazing port and best whites on the bench!
Not friendly! My wife and I come to the okanogan every summer for holidays and wine tasting. We entered La frenz wine shop and waited to be helped. The employee was speaking French to another customer at the tasting counter. We stood there for over 15 minutes without a single acknowledgement of our presence. We ended up walking out. There are so many great friendly wineries in the area, La frenz you need to take some serious notes!
Best winery in Naramata I've been to this far. Don't sleep on the dessert wines.
Went here for a wine tasting. They have a tasting fee if you don't buy a bottle. They have a very nice property and a very nice building. It's smaller then many but upscale. Wine is about 30 bucks a bottle for red. They have a outdoor patio which has an amazing view. The wine itself is amazing. White and Reds are great. No food service. The staff are well trained and very professional. This place is higher end but caters to all experience levels of wine lovers. Defiantly come here.
Beautiful sit down wine tasting on the patio overlooking the vineyard. One of us tried the reserve whites and the other the portfolio tasting. Our faves were the Vivant and the Chardonnay (we usually don’t like Chardonnay but this was delish). Our host was super knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the wine making process. Thanks for having us and for all the bonus pours!
Beautiful scenery! Website said they were open for dinner and allowed us to make a reservation but when we arrived, the owners watched us sit down and waited 10-15 mins to tell us they were closed. It was pretty disappointing.
One of the best wine tasting experience/selection in the region.
Waited 10 minutes until someone came to the front to help us even though we had reservation.
I have nothing but great things to say about La Frenz! Excellent service, knowledgeable staff, stunning wines. A must see on your wine tour
We were not impressed by the service or by the wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon was terrible. The other winds were presented poorly and did not taste as good as comparable wines on the bench. Each other place we went we got free tasting even if we didn't buy. Lafrenz was demanding that we pay the five dollar fee per person even though we didn't taste the wines. Good luck to a poor winery.
Had another great tasting experience here. The wines are delicious, but the tasting "room" really is spectacular. Outdoors with phenomenal views, and extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Good wines and beautiful patio. Great staff. A definite winery to check out.
The vintage port wine from 2013, I opened in 2017 is one of the best wine I have ever tasted. Coming from a French man with an in-law with a winery named regularly in the Hachette guide of wine. Even the occasional drinkers will be able to taste the quality, and enjoy it.
A wonderful experience even during COVID19. Thank you for helping us choose from your lovely wines.
Outstanding winery, long time consistent production. I've picking up wines from here for 20 years. This winery is a must visit. Friendly helpful people work here.
It was very busy in here upon our arrival however we were greeted immediately and taken to an area to taste wines. The woman pouring the tasting did her best while it was busy to serve us. They offer 5 wine tastings for $5. A beautiful tasting room and property. Tasty wines.
They always say don't meet your heros - follow this unless your hero is La Frenz. They lived up to their rep and provided me with the best tasting I have ever done. The proof is in the pudding (wine) and it's easy to support these great folks.
Nice facility. Service was sub par, wine was delicious.
My favourite winery on the bench. Love the new deck.
Ended up with some of the port. It's worth the stop just for the port. They had lollipops for the kids and we had free run of the toilet which was nice. KAREN was very sweet and helpful with the tasting.
The man who seated us made me feel unwelcome and judged. The wine was good and the view was great so it’s disappointing that the service wasn’t up to the same standards.
Im so sad to say this but La Frenz was not very friendly this time around. I felt very discouraged and profiled. We didnt come dressed up. The front desk lady was serving two ladies who came before us and offered them to do wine tasting at the front area or in the outdoor patio where it may rain. They were eventually given a table in the sheltered patio. To us they said there were reservations before us but we were not even offered the same options. We would have been fine tasting wine at the front area but instead she shot us away saying us standing there would make the staff feel "overwhelmed" and told us to come back another day. Its strange because looking online there was availability at 3:45 for a tasting when we were there roughly around 3:15. With a heavy heart I will have to find a new brand of wine because of that disappointing experience. We came for a another case but was asked to leave before being able to even make a purchase. No options were given to us but to leave...
Loved that we could sit at a patio table and relax while tasting your wonderful wines. In particular Alexandria and the Vintage Port
Great wine, good service, nice patio and vineyards.
We had a very good time at La Frenz tasting wine and talking with our server Chelsea. Staff is very knowledgeable and it is a professional establishment. I would definitely recommend La Frenz if you are wine tasting in Naramata. Very good wine as well.
Super cute tasting area and lots of nice wines.
Nice winery.
Beautiful wine and a beautiful view! My fiancé and I visited La Frenz this past weekend and opted for an outdoor tasting. The host (Mike) was very welcoming and efficient, making us feel at home! Our server (Chelsey) was amazing - very upbeat, positive, and knowledgable, and made the entire experience an absolute blast. We loved both Rieslings and went home with a case of the Alexandria. Definitely the favourite stop on our wine tour... La Frenz is a can't miss!
Best winery...
They have an amazing fortified wine this year that beat the pants off of almost all the ice wines we have had this summer. Vivant is fantastic.
Exceptional wine. Fantastic price point. Amazing service. La Frenz hits every mark.
One of the most beautiful wineries ever visited plus world class wines of outstanding quality! Friendly, knowledgible people! Great area!
Very beautiful winery with absolutely great view and service. My friend and I were looking for specific taste of wine and we found what we wanted. Blake was very informative and pleasant to be around. We will definitely visit again.
Beautiful patio tasting room, Judi was our server and she was an absolute pleasure to have. Good experience and great wine as well!
Amazing experience. Wine was so good and Blake was a great host. He talked us through the wines and was very knowledgeable. I wished they served food as we could have stayed there all day.
Amazing wines. The best BC has to offer. Consistently great with every vintage better than previous!
Used to be one of my go to wineries. This year they had a "wait outside to be seated" sign before you could enter the wine room which was rude. To make matters worse the wine was sub par. Usually I buy 1-2 cs every year but only bought 3 bottles to cover tasting cost. When handed the credit card reader the wine pourer was looking for a tip? last time at Lefrenz for me.
Very interesting winery, very good staff and host (Carmen). Very good wines. Highly recommanded
Felt very stiff here...they walk you to you seat from a closed door (basically making you think you are special to find a rare empty seat, the wine tasting is expensive, and we thought the wine was average, even though they keep saying how world class they are.
We have ordered wine twice now to be sent to PEI. The people are simply amazing. They have bent over backwards to accommodate our order and to make sure that all charges including shipping was correct. Love the wines and hope to visit the actual location one day soon. Many kudos to Cathy D for all you have done for us to make sure our order was correct and the many calls you made on our behalf answering our many questions.
Our annual Okanagan wine trip always includes La Frenz and this year we were especially looking forward to our visit as we had such a great experience last year and had been raving about it to friends who were joining us this year. I visited La Frenz twice in the same week, with two different groups and unfortunately, on both occasions, with two different servers, the service was terrible. On the first visit, granted they were busy as I overheard one of the servers say they were understaffed, she got distracted at the till and never came back to us. On the second visit, far less busy than the first day, the gentleman poured the wine and then walked away! He didn't even attempt to engage in any conversation or even tell us about the wine he was pouring. We visited 30 wineries in 6 days and this was by far the worst service we experienced. It's too bad because their wine is amazing (try the Alexandria) but we won't be going back anytime soon.
Did not like the wine or the rude staff
Loved their Sauvignon blanc!! One of the best along the bench!!
Good wine, customer service awful. Worker Alex at the counter was very rude. Would never come back after that experience. Shop manager didn't seem to care. Wanted to buy a lot of wine but decide against it after that.
Even in the face of covid, this winery is a balance of great protocols as well as friendly service. The wine is fantastic so get there sooner than later as it will sell out...
Great wine
Overall after visiting a few different Winerys this weekend in the Okanagan i will have to say La Frenz was one of the less memorable experiences our group felt rushed and unwelcomed from the staff some of there wines were very good but not worth the terrible customer service.
