Midfield 100% lives up to its reputation. My husband and I went for dinner last night and were blown away by the delicious wines, food, and exquisite service. Our server, Helen, helped us choose what to eat (she suggested 4-6 dishes for two people), and could describe each wine we ordered in detail. We had the beef flank tartare, the glazed rutabaga and the hen of the wood mushrooms. The flavours were very well balanced in each dish, but the beef flank tartare was exceptionally good - highly recommended. The food and wine we had was excellent, but, again, we were so impressed with the service. Another group came in and slightly encroached on our space, and Helen insisted on bringing us a drink on the house. The owner(?) also personally apologised to us. It was totally unnecessary but a nice touch showing that Midfield cares about ensuring their patrons have a great experience. In a city full of a million restaurants I want to try and will likely only go to once (if at all), we will definitely be back to Midfield. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Midfield is our favourite local spot for so many reasons. Not only are they accommodating, gracious and knowledgable, but with every visit we fall more in love with the staff and vibe. One of our favourite things to do is let the staff 'choose our wine adventure' - highly recommend! This is a perfect spot to enjoy great wine, complimentary fare and a relaxing atmosphere.

Cozy I think would be the best way to describe the atmosphere. Small and quaint patio out back that makes for a great date place. Great selection of natural wines. Food menu is limited but everything is excellent. Well worth a walk and a visit.

A good place to gather a few friends or go on a date. It’s loud though, so it would allow for sitting close... good fries, variety of wines. Not a place for big groups though - space doesn’t accommodate bigger groups and reservations only for those who are having dinner.

Dude Was barely interested to see a customer on a dead night. Also A VERY misleading menu for prices of wine, a heads up from the server or menu would have heped, or any convo at all. 3 oz is the price listed everyone, which btw is not at all commonplace. A 30$ glass of pearl morissette Pinot noir is lolz. I mean, go ahead and do it, but use it as an opportunity to talk to the guest. Who the F orders a 3 oz pour? Honestly. Too bad, I really Loved this place once upon a time. 100% wont be back. There’s other wine bars, better wine bars.

Went here the other night with business partners. Reservations were made over the phone and super pleasant. Table was ready for us when we got there. We each ordered a main, a drink, cheese board and desert. Everything was great. I love the produce used and the presentation. Portions aren't huge but you get to try lots of different items. I see a lot of mentions of price in reviews and I don't know where those come from. The price point is exactly where it should be for the size and portion you get. Some of the dishes are very adventurous with flavors and combinations, to success. Try it!

Excellent wine list, definitely the place to go if you want to try different wines, I was positively surprised by each of the glass I’ve had and was unable to guess which wine it was. Waitress was very passionate about wines and would take time to describe the winery and story of the wine. They keep changing their selection, we will go back for sure. Nothing pretentious, just good wines with other wine lovers! Good to know: they have a terrace!

I found this spot completely randomly and came back because I really loved it, then realized it's one of the best notes wine bar in Toronto, rated #1 for BlogTO and in the top for several others. I am not a wine expert but I'm french, and I love wine, which gives me some credit to say that their selection is actually very good. The waitress gave us some very good recommendations based on our tastes and they even have some French Cidre bouché which was a very good surprise since it's not a wine. Ambiance is amazing, people are nice, probably my new favorite spot in the city.

Had a wonderful brunch here. Food was delicious, great service and a nice chilled atmosphere. Didn't try any wine but the selection looked really good and the servers seemed very knowledgeable. Washroom was very clean and gender neutral I think, although not wheelchair accessible. 5/5 would definitely recommend for a relaxed weekend brunch with friends!

The wine selection is impressive, the descriptions of wines absolutely spectacular. Whoever wrote it, great job! So fun and creative. The food is really good tho, I've had a cheese plate, and the delicious fried white chocolate dessert. My friend had some fries, also tasty. With a couple of glasses of wine to top it off, each better than the one before, we went home satisfied but slightly agitated with the service quality. We were there on a Saturday night and there was one server on 4 tables but I still had to repeatedly remind servers to bring forgotten parts of our order. They were unorganized and had little to none knowledge when I asked about the wine selection, weren't able to even differentiate a dry wine from a sweet one.

I really hate to write a bad review for a small business but honestly at this point it is almost comical how bad the service is here and like..maybe this will help them learn? I’m not even mad but it has to be said, I’m sorry. Not just once, but literally every time I go here (a great many times) it’s as if they try even harder to be annoyed by their own customers. Refusing to seat one extra person at a table of four because they don’t like to “ruin the flow” of the restaurant, refusing to remove chairs from EMPTY tables of four to accommodate larger groups “just in case” (don’t worry! Those tables remained empty all night), audible sighs from the staff when you ask questions about the menu. Don’t drink? No problem! Only SEVEN DOLLARS for a single bottle of San Pellegrino they grabbed from Costco. Each time you go a new surprise awaits…how will you bother them next?! Very unfortunate because they have a great wine list, but honestly don’t bother going unless you are on a first date and want to be left completely alone while the staff and owner talk among themselves and/or become visibly stressed at the prospect of dealing with their own customers.

Maybe we didn't come on a busy day, but holy cow is this restaurant a hidden treasure. The food - though small - is absolutely wonderful and is crafted with such thought and consideration for every step of the meal. Expect to spend some money, not because it's expensive, but because you will want to try everything on the menu.

Pretty nice cozy wine bar. I expected a bit more given my knowledge that the wine list is curated by Christopher Sealy (Alo). The wines were mostly just ok. Nothing I'd write home about or want to seek out and buy. The food was good. I don't know if I would necessarily come back...the wine by the glass list was still kind of paltry. Can someone please bring back Mad Crush Wine Bar?

This place is amazing, we were passing by and my kids had to use the washroom. The restaurant was not open but they said no problem. My partner and I sampled a glass of wine while waiting for the kids. They made us feel right at home. We immediately wanted to know more. The wine was amazing and Christopher was willing to share his vast knowledge and excitement of wines with us. We ordered some fries for the kids. Without us knowing he covered the bill. We left a very gracious tip. We came back that Friday evening without the kids and was delighted by the atmosphere food and wine. I have since recommend midfield to several of my friends and it's one of our go to places.

Really neat little wine bar in Little Portugal. I was looking for a place just like this tonight and Jenny helped guide me through the wine list and made my night really enjoyable. The wine styles on the expansive list are not in my typical wheelhouse at all but she was very helpful, and the celery root remoulade salad was awesome, too. This is really a cool spot. Highly recommended.

This place is busy, and rightly so. The menu has some really great items and the wine list is quite extensive. For such a small space, they've really managed to make the most of it. My only criticism would be toward the service. I understand that things move a little slower the busier the place gets, but the servers were grouped by the bar chatting with each other instead of waiting on their tables. In a space as small as this wine bar is, it is very noticeable when you are being ignored by your server.

Maya Pulvers - you clearly did something wrong because I have been frequenting this establishment regularly over the past two years and have never left with anything but an extremely satisfied experience with both the food and staff. The chef is outstanding and knows her way around a kitchen preparing not only fresh food in a timely manner but well structured in balance to the extensive wine list that is offered. The staff are welcoming, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable. I don't know of any other wine bar in the west end that even comes to mind in comparison to what this restaurant has to offer. I always recommend Midfield to our local neighbours and those who are traveling into town. I also suggest those interested in learning more about wine in general to check out their monthly wine seminars hosted by many well known soms in the city. I really can't say enough about this place. If you haven't been it is a must to put on your list of places to check out in the city.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary and I would have to say that this place might be the worst place I have been since my first and only experience at East Side Mario's. The fact that I'm comparing it to East Side Mario's says it's bad, but at least with East Side Mario's you're expecting it to be bad, and you won't also leave hungry and broke! If you want a great meal and a good experience, go to Cafe Bar Pasta. It's only a few blocks west of Midfield.
