I was very excited to come eat here after reading all the great reviews. But we left after 30 minutes of sitting at our table. It was not very busy and the waitress kept walking by us never gave us a glance.. At one point I got up to get the menus thinking she would finally at least acknowledge us or tell us I'll be right with you but that was not the case. Left and went to Subway.

Quaint place but very overpriced items on the menu for the quality and quantity you receive. The atmosphere is what you would expect, but certain items like their Dublin Chicken is about $6-7 overpriced. The burgers are fair and cooked well, but the overall pricing isn't something you would expect. It also didn't help that the first 4 beers requested were out of stock early on a Saturday night.

I love the atmosphere at this pub/restaurant. It has such an authentic old feel to it. It can be a bit chilly in the winter time due to its age and thin walls. I highly recommend wearing a sweater if it is winter or late Fall/early Spring. The food is always delicious! I would definitely recommend the steak here. Definitely the best steak ???? on the river. They have a great selection of Irish pub style selections too. Along with a great variety of seafood for those who enjoy it. While the gluten free options are limited, there are some selections available. Personally, I normally order the steak or the pan fried haddock. Price range is typical for this style restaurant with main dishes running between $18 - $35. They have a good selection of beer and ciders on tap including local micro-brewery craft beers. You won't be disappointed if you decide to dine here.

The Irish pub was amazing. The decor was nice and atmosphere was also nice. The food was delicious. The famous fish and chip was exactly as described. The fish was tender and cook to perfection. The batter was nice and crispy. Not soggy and greasy. the fries cooked also to perfection. Nkce and crispy. Wife had a burger. The burger was juicy and not greasy. The pattie was cooked right and had good flavor. The portions was more than enough. I highly recommend going there. You will not be disappointed.

Made reservations but were rudely refused a more fitting comfortable seat- with no reason- as they wanted sit 2 larger adults in the tiny corner table with zero view for live music and at tall chairs. We kindly asked if we could sit at the empty lower corner table for 4 which had no reserved sign but the older man..assuming owner or manager just looked at us and shook his head no...when we looked around for alternatives and didnt sit we were ignored so ended up walking out. As we were leaving they sat 2 young girls at a table for 6 alone .Sad -as going there especially for live music has always been a highlight to our wkends visiting Miramichi. Disturbing as we have never been treated so rudely at any restaurant...we WERE returning customers..and were planning on dinner and drinks for the evening! Not to mention losing a large bill in revenue your server also lost a very good tip...not just today but for many future trips! Disappointed and disturbed at the terrible service.

Absolutely awful experience. Would NOT recommend this place at all. Service was appalling. My husband's ginger ale was flat and was replaced by a flat sprite!! The wait for our meal went on and on. After 40minutes we questioned the waitress and she stated it would be a couple of more minutes. In the meantime we watched as a party of four were served starters within 5 minutes of being seated. After another 15 minutes my husband got up to find out what was happening with our food. Again we were told only a couple more minutes!! Seriously?The excuse was given that they use iPad's to put the order through and if you are seated at the back of the pub the reception isn't good!! Therefore the order hadn't gone through but no one bothered to explain this until we got up to leave. It wasn't even very busy so no excuse to have to wait this long for food. I would suggest if the iPad was really the problem (i suspect not) then go back to pen and paper!! We left without eating. Worst pub I have been to and I am from a nation where pubs are the heart of every community so have been to many pubs in my time!

Was excited to try this place because of the reviews, but I was pretty disappointed. My main was good, but the side was sub par and the service was pretty terrible. Our server never looked up from the ipad screen and seemed generally annoyed to be serving us; and a lot of the staff spent most of their time chatting with each other behind the bar. It seemed to me like they didn’t want us there, and there was an unspoken invitation to leave. I’m not sure if it was because we weren’t locals, or maybe cause we were two guys on a date? Either way, wouldn’t go back.

The food was decent and well priced (Irish pub style). Service wasn't great - all our orders were wrong, didn't bring drinks, etc. They were out of many menu items. May have been better to visit a different time, we visited on a Sunday evening after a busy weekend.

Beware if you're gluten intolerant or celiac. 90% of items are made with gluten. There was also items on the menu that stated gluten free but recently changed the recipe to use flour and not update the menu to state correctly. Highly disappointed, the waitress was nice though. Manager not aware of his own food coming out of kitchen though as he stated it was gluten free chowder and it was the waitress who informed me of the change.

Food was good. Unfortunately we found two large blonde hairs baked into the fries but passed it off because it was fries. Staff was friendly with the exception of one standing next to us bragging how he handled a customer that was unhappy about his food and how he put him in his place. Aside from this worker it was a good place to grab a bite to eat. Prices were pretty standard for a pub.

Had not been there for years as if there wasn't a problem with the food it was the service... on August 1st/21 had family in from out of town gathering for the long weekend. Called as soon as they opened on Sunday morning to make a reservation for 6 PM for a group of 15 people for dining INSIDE (which I specified at the time)was told no problem but with such a large group we would have to be seated in the upstairs. Perfect. No problem. Got there at appointed time and was told they had to bump my group to outside dining as they gave my table away to a group of 20 people - without a reservation- who had just showed up. Found my group had been seated outside. Not enough room for me. Finally had to ask to have another table brought over. Filthy dirty table (with ants crawling all over it)was placed down in front of me by same guy who had given away my reservation, who then without even wiping down the table walked away.... I finally had to ask for someone to wash down the table. Our waitress was good. The food was good. Good value for the money however, I will NOT be back. If I would have wanted to share my meal with ants, flies and mosquitoes I would have saved myself the trouble and the money and would have had a pb&j sandwich on my own patio. Actually, there are no ants on my patio.

Visited this cute looking pub with my husband last weekend as we are new to the area and LOVE to check out new restaurants! The location itself was very visually pleasing and had great atmosphere which had me excited to try the food. My husband Larry (god bless his heart) had ordered the O'donaghue burger while I had water to try out the black bean burger as I am vegetarian. Food arrived very quickly which was great. Larry really enjoyed the burger which was cooked very nicely but I could not say the same for myself. The veggie burger was extremely soggy with very little to no flavour and the bun was completely flaccid. Ive had better out of a box. STEER CLEAR.

Wow what a spot, if your looking for a authentic Irish pub feel this is your spot. Nice decor, original stone unique bathroom, outdoor garden and front street tables. Small buy amazing menu, tonnes of beer on tap. Live entertainment in the evenings with small dance floor if you want to dance. Spacious upstairs seating available as well.

Awesome place to relax on the patio, great atmosphere, and great staff!! Major downside...... I'm celiac and require gluten free food. Their menu says gf, but everything is fried in the same fryer, etc meaning it's NOT at all gf!!!! Uneducated or people early on in their diagnosis of celiac disease or gf intolerance will be mislead to thinking they are making a gf choice, when they are actually being exposed to gluten!!! Eat with caution!

The service here was a bit slow. The server sat us down and then forgot about us for 20 mins. She seemed frazzled and overwhelmed. When she finally remembered us, she was embarrassed and apologized. The food was good. The appetizers we ordered were delicious and hot. The wings were perfect and the lobster dip was delicious. The lobster roll I ordered felt like it had some frozen bits in it but it was tasty. The fish and chips portion was huge! The fries were crisp and juicy at the same time, and were probably the best fries I have had in Miramichi.

The ticket machine was broken and my drink took forever to get to my table. The music was an odd mix; not too impressed since the theme is supposed to be Irish. There is no drink menu. The only positives about this place were the facts that my drink and food were to die for and the waitress did a good job regardless of the technical difficulties.

Wife and I just wanted a light late lunch. Ordered a poutine and savoury lamb turnovers. The food was excellent. The pub is so rich in character, atmosphere, but liveliness was lacking. Maybe it was the time of day, or Covid protocols. I can see O'Donaghue's being a rippin' little pub when Covid is in the rearview mirror..

We were there on a Monday for lunch so not very busy (which is an advantage it seems). It's an old irish typical pub with full of charm, not far from the river. With a pint of guiness in hand, we went with the club plate and a fish n' chip. Well priced! The fish n' chip is the whole filet and not just bits and pieces. The only note: if they asked you if you want something that isn't on the menu's description of the plate, ask "how much?"

Atmosphere was that of an Irish pub, the renovations are splendid. I ordered the beer battered fish with fries. Order was a generous amount of fish and an ideal amount of fries and coleslaw. I'm not too fussy about tartar sauce but the home made tartar sauce was delicious. My only complaint was the Pepsi I ordered was flat.

What an enjoyable dining experience we had; starting with a warm greeting on the outdoor patio, with a great appetizer and friendly Irish banter and Miramichi down-home hospitality delivered by first our hostess and then doubly matched and exceeded by Kelly- our server. Good steak, exceptional garden fresh veggies and green side salad. Good selection of single malt Scotch for post meal conversation and absorption of the local history and vibe of the area. A must stop and eat spot on your itinerary!

Service was great and beer selection was great. Appetizer: Lobster Arancini - did not enjoy at all. The Risotto was over-cooked and no flavour. Main: Rahman -wasn’t bad but wouldn’t order it again. Broth didn’t have great flavour, over-kill on the ginger, Rahman was undercooked and not a great assortment of veggies. Dessert: Blueberry Bread Pudding- Best I’ve ever had. The blueberry combined with the sauce was incredible and the texture was perfect.

Stopped in for a birthday meal while travelling with my family. Service was great. Good portions and order was correct. Waiter friendly and engaged in conversation. BTW love the pride in the mint leaves. Only draw back was the fish. Yes the size was amazing, but it was mushy in the middle. Oil was to hot to cook all for the batter throughly. The fries are to die for. Burgers were large and filling. To male mid teens left full. I loved my dish seafood scampi. Very very good. Thanks for the service and a good meal.

Had a great evening in O'Donaghue's Friday Aug 2end. We were on vacation from Toronto. Originally from Ireland so I can say this was an authentic Irish country pub experience. We sat on the patio and the singer with the Guitar was amazing. Our meal was great. The service was friendly and genuine. The server was fun and made sure we had everything we needed. If you want genuine friendly service, a great meal and a really great local pint recommended by staff who know the beer. This is the place for you, Cillin Grealish from Dublin Ireland, originally. Hope to get back some year for the Irish festival.

Over many travels my husband and I always choose Irish pub has the first place to go, no matter the city. From past experience these pubs are always places where you get treated like family and everything from the food to service is usually great. Unfortunately, I did not get this experience last Sunday while having lunch at O'Donaghue's with a group of friends. We were seated fairly quickly and the place was really busy. We got our drinks within a few minures but our food order took 1 hour and 15 min to arrive. At which point we were notified that some items were no longer available and had been replaced on our plate without first checking with us. I found this strange with so many people having either allergy or dietary requirement these days. Although our server apologized on many occasion she explained to us that "there was nothing she could do". All the time a manager could be seen helping and serving customer that had clearly arrived after us. I will say the food tasted excellent but an establisment can not only rely on this and high customer service is a must to ensure returned business.

Really liked the atmosphere but the food was overpriced and horrible. Waiter we had was nice but needs to stay focused an should know enough not to linger too long...especially when your not saying anything...personal space. As far as the food we had.... worst ....shepherds pie I've ever had! The potatoes on top looked fancy but forget any semblance of flavour and decent ingredients beyond greasy ground beef and over cooked mashed potatoes that have been squeezed thru a chef's decorating tube. Seafood soup or bisque was also a let down. I'm thinking came from a can at least partly. Also, its the Maritimes....why is seafood soup of all things as expensive as it was and I'm sure still is? A complaint was made to our waiter and I had forgotten all about the experience until Google maps prompted me for a review. Get a new chef and or revamp the shepherds pie and seafood soup. I'm not from the area but my father is and ive lways cherished my time there when and if I get to go back. The experience at your establishment was very unpleasant. I'm just glad the old man didn't vocalize his criticisms like he usually does. Thus didnt want to flame the discontent..That said....4 years ago this August I went to your establishment for the first time with an acquaintance and had, from what I remember, a decent burger and had nothing to complain about. Nor was I prompted by this app with which I'm writting my review. Thus am letting you know now. Would love to give you and any establishment in the area my business but not when someone is charged as much as they are for piss poor quality. Sans your burgers. Decor and atmosphere is important and you've hit the nail on the head...now put more effort into your dishes. I gave you 3 stars based on both experiences combined. Otherwise I'd give you a 2.

I stay at the Hostel in Miramichi every summer. This Pub is not to be missed by anyone traveling the area. Several of us (often just other guest at the hostel) form a group and decend on this relic of a pub. This ancient building is so ideal for a traditional Irish pub. Thick Stone wall from the 1700's WOW. You can feel the history, and now experience it all. Lively music (Irish) and great food, my mouth is just watering thinking of it. Chase it down with an real Irish beer off of the tap and sit back to enjoy the locals, the atmospjhere and relax with the people you came with. We always meet new people every time I go there. This should be placed on your list of 'things to experience before you die!'
