This place is so cool. Excellent aesthetics, and lots of samples to try. Not usually a booze guy, but had to buy some rhubarb liqueur. Was pretty torn on the apple vodka too. Definitely worth checking this place out even if you're not a drinker per se. Very knowledgable and friendly staff

Lunenburg was busy today, Everyone wanted to taste test their alcohol. Big lineups. They had a tiny area to try it out, could of made room for more ppl when it gets busy like that. Building is pleasant to be in, nice display of their products. Staff is friendly.

Awesome little distillery that's well worth the visit. The dark rum is delicious, to go with a great selection of liquers and esprits - the rhubarb esprit is amazing!! If you have time to do the tour, do it! Well worth the $$ - get to taste all spirits available with a nice little present at the end. And the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves during our visit. It is a good thing that the samples offered were exceedingly small, as I was eager to try almost everything on offer! Their products are creative and well-made. (Their rum and gin are both excellent. Their vodka is made with apples. They also have an extensive selection of other fruit-based liqueurs, all of which are worth sampling.) The location is small, but has a tonne of character from its previous life as a blacksmith's shop. The on-site prices are reasonable, and the staff member we spoke to was friendly and knowledgeable.

Oh this place is just awesome. If you're ever in Lunenburg sign for the guided tour. It costs $10 but you get a shot glass and get to taste all their drinks. About drinks, I can see how they won their awards. Never heard of Apple vodka before but it was so smooth and tasting good. I liked their gin, and I hate gin in general!!! The berry liqueurs were quite unique. You can probably combine them in so many ways in cocktails. The best things they offer IMO is their dark rum and the brandy. It's pricey, but a perfect gift for someone special!

Absolutely love this place! Went for a tour with Colette and she showed us everything from start to finish. She did a great job explaining everything to us. We got to sample everything they make and they even threw in a little gift for us at the end. Very friendly staff with a wealth of knowledge and they carry amazing products. I'm not a rum person but there rum is AMAZING! Book a tour! You won't regret it!

Ironworks is an artisanal cute little distillery located in the historic port town of Lunenburg. My wife and I stopped in while we were visiting Lunenburg. We sampled several different liqueurs and vodka and loved all the sampling, especially the sweet blueberry liqueur. The shop was beautiful and well preserved. Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend this stop in Lunenburg!

Tastes of all their spirits... Their 5 yo rum is the best and my daughter claims their gin (original, not the newer aged gin product) is the best anywhere! But their dark rum is good too, either neat or mixed. Visit this place - it's great!

Cool distillery with great staff. They made a good collection of rum and other distilled spirits. They age their rum on a boat to have the movement of the waves a part of the ageing process. They also recently released a special rum where the ship sunk.

Nice rustic space, and samples for tasting. When I was there they had a Rhubarb liqueur that was delicious, but I understand they are always alternating the more exotic varieties. I ended up with a bottle of Rum that was superb.

The covid tasting experience is definitely more rushed than the usual experience. The alcohol was very strong & lacked flavour in some of the ones we tested. But the tastings were free, so can't complain much! It's very quick, not much else to the place besides a quick tasting & purchases.

You are able to taste all of the spirits they sell. The problem is they use small paper cups that I thought imparted a taste to the spirits. They provide two paid tours a day, unfortunately I missed the last tour.

Well worth a visit, or even a special trip out from Halifax. Neat building, unique products, and excellent prices for small-distillery artisanal quality products. Not being nearby, I placed a mail order for Christmas. Very reasonable shipping charge, and spectacularly well packaged to prevent any chance of damage. The Amber Rum is a favourite. Delicious neat, with ice, or in a mojito.

My girlfriend and I accidently wandered in on a day they were closed (I missed the hours of operation but the door was unlocked). Staff members inside were very nice and helpful and not at all annoyed by my oversight. In fact, two people who were about to run some errands, took off their coats, gave us the rundown of the distillery and products and served us some samples. Great concept, well executed, friendly staff and tasty products... they hit it all. Thanks again Ironworks.

Drove through Lunenburg looking for parking and noticed Ironworks Distillery. Almost forgot to visit because we parked on the other side of the wharf area. Do not leave Lunenburg without first checking out this place! First off, the building is ripe with age and character. The weatherbeaten exterior suggests not even the harshest Maritime storm could shake even a shingle. Oh, the alcohol. Amazing flavours. My wife and I shared our samples with each other so we got to sample 6. 3 samples a piece. I have to admit I despise rhubarb, but as a spirit - FANTASTIC!!! I can't say a favourite, they're all exceptional. They ship to anywhere in Canada (except Alberta - tax thing). We had trouble not purchasing a bottle of every flavour.

This is my second visit to Lunenburg and though I purchased some product last time, it has been sitting aging. Translate that as I forgot about it. This time I did a purchase and sat down and sampled it. It was the smoothest rum I have ever had. It is expensive but I can recommend it

We took the tour and it was quick yet informative. You get to taste everything they have on sale at the end and kids are allowed on the tour as well (but of course don't get to taste!). The do rums, vodka, gin, apple brandy and liqueurs (several fruits) and they get 5 stars because for the spirits they really tried to be different. Especially the gin (compared to London Dry or Hendricks for example) and their Bluenose rum. You can taste without doing the tour at least during tourist season so it's definitely worth a visit. Prices are very reasonable considering it's a small scale production.

I visited this place. They allow you to taste the products. The prices are ok. However everything is only a 5 yr age to it. Not the best yr for rums and such. None of it was smooth. It had bite. But not my yr for the drinks here. With that aside. This place has history. It used to be the harbours foundry and blacksmith. Its converted but still has some artifacts and such.

My family and I had a private tour / tasting here when we were visiting Halifax. Tyla was our tour/tasting guide/host. She was awesome. She did knew a lot about the history of the building and the company, as well as how the spirits are made. I really admire that they only create alcohol based on what they can source locally. I think that it makes a difference because the quality of the alcohol is very good especially at that price point. Because we are flew to Halifax, we didn't have a lot of space in our luggage to bring alcohol back, but it wasn't a problem because they ship throughout Canada (and it is free over $135). So needless to say we bought a lot to enjoy when we got back home. Since then we have purchased additional alcohol and have not had any issues in shipment. Overall, Ironworks is small but a must see if you are visiting the area and definitely worth the day trip from Halifax. I'm so glad that we visited here and look forward to enjoying more of their alcohol in the future.

We had an amazing tour! Our guide was super friendly, we got to meet the owners and because we were the only two who signed up for that time slot it was a "private tour". We recommend booking a time slot as the only take small groups btw. This distillery is small but what they produce is packed in flavour and flies off the shelf. The Raspberry is a coveted liquor but I love the Rhubarb and Blueberry. The Haskap is new and delish and the bottles are a reasonable price. Major shout out to the Gin- it's superbe. Stop in! Sample everything! You'll love it!

Went to their in-store location on a vacation several years ago and was impressed with their apple brandy and selection of spirits. On my next trip to Nova Scotia I purchased their Pear Eau-de-Vie. I was pleased to find out during COVID that they ship to Ontario and have since had many of their other spirits and liquors. Their Maple Rum and Maple Cream Rum are definitely must-tries. For all of my orders they were packed well and I had issues with the shipping. There was a slight error with one of my orders, but they immediately resolved the issue and then some! Looking forward to being able to do a tour of the distillery the next time I am in Lunenburg.

I was able to book a private tour for a weekday through the website for a small bachelorette party. The staff were very helpful, welcoming and accommodating, and were very personal for all the guests we had in the party. The staff were so infectiously enthusiastic about what they do, and they were clearly so proud of the products they are able to make! The science lessons and questions our group had were answered with expertise and humour. The history of the building really sings through the old wooden beams as you step through the gift shop into the workhouse of the distillery. The tour culminated with a tasting, where the staff were equally as accommodating and enthusiastic about their products. They were very good to me as a designated driver, making me tiny mock-tails while the other ladies had a blast trying all the wares. At the end, the staff presented us with goodie bags, that were really appreciated and unexpected! The gift shop is lovely, and has all their available products for sale, along with some glass ware, clothing items, and shopping bags. I can't thank Tyla, Molly, or Julie enough for their help and care for the awesome night! I will definitely go back whenever I'm in town!
