We offer you the reviews of real people who purchase the services and products of Quails' Gate Winery (Winery) near Lake Louise (Canada).
Currently this business receives a rating of 4.4 out of 5 and the rating has been based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average of ratings that it reaches is quite good, and it's founded on a high number of feddbacks, so we may be pretty sure that the evaluation is very accurate. If many people have bothered to give their opinion when they've done well with the business, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to place feddbacks when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Winery is included in the category of Winery.
The marketplace is very nice. Not a huge amount of fair but good food offerings and of course all the wines. Nice to sit outside at the picnic tables and relax for a while.
When I made our reservation I was assured that the fact that we're vegan would not be a problem, as they had excellent chefs, so I was surprised to arrive there and not see a single vegan entrée on the menu. We were told that our only option was to order the risotto, which the chef would modify for us. This turned out to mean removing the butter and parmesan from the dish, without adding any vegan substitutes for those items. It was so bland we had to ask our server for a salt shaker to make it palatable, obviously no one bothered to taste it. The next night we dined at Summerhill Winery, we had a starter of oyster mushroom calamari with tzatziki, and a choice between 2 mains actually printed on the menu, so we didn't have to do the vegan 'dance' with the waiter, we just ordered like everyone else. What a difference, we actually felt welcomed and not just accommodated. Quail's Gate should get with the times. 5 stars for the view, 1 star for the food.
Made a reservation 2 months in advance because I know that it books up especially in the height of Summer. Made a note that we were celebrating our 15th Wedding Anniversary that day, and asked to be seated on the patio, as we know that the views are spectacular for a romantic dinner. - We are from Vancouver, and were staying in Okanagan Falls, but made the extra hour long drive to Kelowna especially for this dinner (and so my husband could purchase a couple bottles of his favourite wine, the Old Vines Reserve Foch) There is a whole section of shady patio, and then a strip of patio that is in full-sun. Was asked by hostess if we "minded" sitting in the sun, or rather inside. As I specially requested patio, 2 months in advance, I said the patio was fine. Well on a 30+ day, the full-sun patio was unbearable. The sun was beating down and reflecting off the glass table, blinding us and making it even hotter. I'm fanning myself with the menu card and can not even see my husband in the glare off the table. There are a few tables in the shaded area, but were told those are "reserved". (I use quotation marks, because that table was not used the entire duration of our meal). I ask if we can move inside as I know I cannot enjoy our romantic dinner if I'm about to pass out and cannot even see my partner across the table. Not minutes after we are moved inside, in the corner of the restaurant, blocked by two other tables to even see a glimpse of the views.....the awnings on the patio are lowered, to add more shade to the patio guests. Why was this option not offered when I told my waiter that the sun was bothering me. But now we were inside and not going to make more fuss to go back to our now semi-shaded patio table. Dinner was delicious, as expected. The Halibut was amazing! Desserts were a tad bland. We were offered a Late Harvest tasting _ not a full sipping glass _ but rather a minuscule taste, as a "compliment for our Anniversary". It was a nice enough dinner, but certainly didn't feel special for our special day. If it were not for my husbands bottles of his favourite wine, we could have done without the extra hour trip north and found a similar experience elsewhere.
Amazing evening! Tasting wine with Mathew and dining for dinner with Kelly.(employees) Amazing location and intimate dining experience. Thanks!
We had lunch at Quials Gate and found the waitress to be exceptionally friendly and attentive. The PEI oysters were fresh and tasty, we both had the Sablefish ( black cod ) and were very pleased with its flavor and presentation. The dark chocolate mousse was very rich and very good. I will return
Very beautiful winery on the near the lake. The family tour of the winery was interesting, but our kids did not like it as much as we had hoped.
Incredible views, lovely place.
Incredible views, the property is gorgeous, food was lovely and the staff was very pleasant
Nice food, superb views, wine surprisingly good for its price (being in Canada and not in Italy or Spain) Appetizers were jumny and meat tasty
Fantastic food, fantastic ambiance, fantastic location with breathtaking views of the lake ! Top shelf where they keep the good wine :)
This is one of the best views in the Okanagan Valley for a lunch a tasting or a wander through the vines. The wines are lovely and staff super friendly and the food great. Love this place. Great photo op too.
What a Winery!!! What a staff !!! With over 14 years experience in hospitality including wine sommelier courses I want to say this is best winery at least in west Kelowna ( where we just started our wine tour ) if you are looking for the most experienced sommeliers and advisers this is your place. If you are looking for unique and incredibly powerful wines this is your place. Friendly and highly organized front desk staff. Easy access for discovering winery. Restaurant in the area. Everything makes you visit absolutely special ! Chardonnay Pinot Noir Cab Sauvignon Syrah You will love it !!! Special and warmest thank you Herb.
Awesome lunch with amazing wine! S/o to our waiter Jorden who was super nice and took great care of us
Great wine, great food, and an unmatched view from the outdoor seating!
Good selections of red wines. They have a really nice Pinot Gris. For a BC Cabernet Sauvignon, it's quite well made and aged quite well. Also, their Foch was very different to most other red wines. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
I have been there numerous times over the years. Lunch and dinner is fantastic but I would skip the brunch and go somewhere else. It's a little pricey for the amount of food you get.
From the moment we arrived, our evening was amazing. The food with the wine pairings was delicious. Our server was professional, friendly, and made our evening very special. The setting is beautiful. I look forward to our next visit.
Great views, great wines, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Wonderful time, will visit again soon!
Breath taking, summer or winter you can find amazing views at quails gate. The wine and food are fantastic. If your celiac they have options for you as well :)
Absolutely beautiful place. The restaurant was incredible - the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake is a must!
Tinyung was amazing today! A+ for service for the tasting but even for telling us about the winery and letting us know about grabbing the wine and going down to the seats by the lake. My favourite winery hands down.
As new to the wine tasting game, we had a wonderful time. Carley was so incredibly informative and friendly, and we recommend this winery for new and experienced wine tasters. It was also nice to be able to walk around the vineyard unattended, as some do not allow it.
Nice place to dine with a beautiful view. Restaurants was great. BUT.. We had such unpleasant experience in the Market place . We ordered 2x glass of Red wine I was shocked they served wine with a small cheap plastic cup not to mention price was even more expensive than a fine dining restaurants. I've expressed my concerns to the server twice she keep telling me because of COVID. What does COVID to do with a wine glass ? ? Respect you guys as wine expert you should know wine taste differently if you put them in different containers
It's simply one of those places you gotta hit once in your life... Just do it... stop looking for other reviews
Amazing winery, bay far one of the best ones in Kelowna. If you’re doing a wine tour make, make sure this one is on it. Amazing views, wines, and staff makes a it a one of a kind memorable experience. We visited 4 wineries in our tours, we purchased 3 bottles from here and none from the others. Great job guys!
One of the best wineries in the Okanagan. Beautiful setting and great wine make for a perfect pairing experience! Cheers!
Great view, food and wine. Awesome place????
Great wines, great view, steeped in history. Wines for every price and preference!
My family had a wonderful wine tasting experience in Quail’s Gate. Our somme Yannick was very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The vineyard area was also beautiful, with breathtaking views overlooking the water. Be sure to try their dessert wines!
We were a walk-in for wine tasting. Emma was amazing, so knowledgeable. Great experience, definitely worth a stop at this winery.
We were here celebrating a friend’s wedding and the reception was held at Quails gate. It was a fabulous night. The staff were friendly and courteous, the food was delicious and the wine was divine. We hope to come back next time we are in kelowna!
Wonderful restaurant. Fantastic menu and food. Good Covid precautions in place.
Good food. Beautiful view, fun place for lunch or dinner. The Black Forest dessert needs serious work... the server was not on her game that day, but good enough!
Wonderful Anniversary dinner. Great wine pairings. Servers were knowledgeable and professional. Be prepared to pay the price of excellence, but it is worth it. We felt very safe with the Covid-19 protocols in place. By the way Quails Gate deserves all the award t gets for its wine.
Great service, great experience and highly recommended and we will definitely come back.
Excellent place for a tour and lunch
Enjoyed a lunch here and visited the wine store afterwards. The food was very well done, served with a paired wine. The attention to detail was obvious from the outset. Everything is very well decorated and presented. The service was truly exceptional. We had a true professional named Anina who catered to our every need and whim with grace and humour. Later I bought a bottle of fortified Foch that I highly recommend.
Beautiful space and the tasting was amazing! Herb took amazing care of us and it was a pleasure speaking with Mike. Fantastic wines with a great atmosphere ????❤️
Winery is great. One of the most beautiful in the area. Some good wines in reserve selection. Restaurant leaves much to be desired with the food. Service was great, one of the best views to enjoy over lunch.
Beautiful atmosphere and view. Came here for my 2 year anniversary with my boyfriend and it was just perfect. The food paired nicely with the wine. Overall, great experience and will go back in the future.
Great food, beautiful views, amazing wines!
Always a pleasure to stop in, have a sip and a visit with Anthony, Mike and the rest of the staff while enjoying that perfect view.... And never a problem to find a great bottle of wine to take home too!!!
Amazing spot. Doesn't matter time of year we came in November and had a great time tasting. Would recommend !
We did a wine tasting. We found the sommelier to be very friendly, informative and personable. We bought 2 bottles of the Lucy Block Rosè, which is only available on site. Very smooth and fruity. Love it.
Very beautiful property overlooking the lake. I liked how you could walk through the vineyard and take some photos. However the wine tasting was overpriced compared to other wineries in the region, and the taster rushed us through, and did not make the experience very personable at all. For being the most pricey I felt the customer service did not match up to the establishment.
Fantastic lunch. Spectacular views. Food is incredible. Staff is extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommended stopping here if you are in Kelowna.
This is a wonderful location with great wines! We did the tasting and asked for a charcuterie board with it, unfortunately they don’t offer food with their tasting but suggested we go to their Allison House(on-site) and purchase charcuterie ahead of time. We came 2 hours early had charcuterie with a Rose, walked all through the vineyard with the view of the lake. Only after relaxing on their very beautiful property did we go for our tasting. Price was very reasonable and you can stay for hours. Would absolutely recommend it.
No one ever picks up the phone. Reception desk, Wine Shop, Placing an order all goes to voice mail. Leave them voice mail and never returns call too. Guess nobody works here.
It is always so crowded in here, and the wine is not very good. The tasting room has a gorgeous view, but this is an otherwise disappointing stop on the wine trail.
On my second visit I can say that the experience and service was excellent. I'm glad that I was able to give the restaurant a second chance. This time I had the lunch special bouillabaisse and it was delicious. My mom had steak and it was cooked well, great flavours.
I’ve always had an amazing experience at Quails Gate. Specifically my last few times I went I was served by Elizabeth and Audrey in the tasting room. These women were warm friendly and personal they made the trip worth it. Keep up the good work!!
Today we visited Qual's Gate! It was amazing winery!!! Beautiful romantic place with great wine and food!!! Servise was very good!!!! I will recomend this place 100%!!!
Informative, lovely and quiet tour before an excellent meal. The kitchen accommodated our children and allergies, and served an incredibly delicious meal. The wine pairings were perfect and the option of a wine flight to sample a variety of their offerings enhanced the experience.
One of the best dining experiences ever. Elk carpaccio was incredible. Roasted duck too. Service unsurpassed.
Atmosphere is amazing and the service was impecible. However there are some major flaws. First off, I was under the impression that there were many vegan pasta options like a penne in Pomodoro sauce. They said they would "make it up", but instead gave me a children's butter pasta with oil instead of butter! I thought this was a joke ????. Serving a vegan a kid's butter pasta??? They also messed up the rest of my family's order, however, the rest of the experience was great. Sunset was beautiful. My only other complaint was how chilly it was in the dining room because they kept alot of doors open.
We were really looking forward to our lunch and left quite disappointed with our service. It took a very long time for anyone to touch our table and once our order was placed, we waited a very long time for our food. We didn't mind waiting for our food but as soon as we were finishing up our meal, our waiter rushed to drop our bill when we still had wine to finish. We had to pour ourselves the remainder of our wine to enjoy, while we were rushed to pay and settle our bill. I asked if we could enjoy the last bit of our wine and we were told, the host will let us know when the next reservation needs our table. It was very off-putting for such a beautiful place.
Everyone knows how fine Quail's Gate wines are, I need to comment on their commitment to community. Quail's Gate were gracious in their willingness to freely offer not only a venue but wine to facilitate our annual fundraising event. This annual event is crucial to our ministry of providing free medical help and housing to the poorest of the poor in Kenya. The owners and staff at this winery make us proud to say we hail from Kelowna. Wonderful people.
Came to this location with Uncorked wine tour,. Quail's date carries a great wine selection, good service. We will definitely come back for more shopping.
Excellent food, wine, customer service. Salman tartar and pesto sauce was delicious. (Chef's special appetizer) I love this place;)))
The view is so good and wines taste also great too! And the foods and service are awesome!! Especially the dessert!!
We are group of four and had a wine testing here with Mr. Herb. Mr. Herb is knowledgeable with the wines and we surely enjoyed his company. After the tasting we bought couple more bottles and went to their picnic tables and spend most of the time there. Overall, it was a great experience here. We will try the restaurant next when we come back.
Was there for a snack. Had the scallop crudo appy and steamed mussels. Both were good. Finished with the chocolate tahani mouse which was also good but more like a cake. Small portions. Great service. Wonderful spot.
It's really a cool place to have your dinner, the service and food was great. About the wine i would say that white wines stay at high acidity end. At the end I enjoyed reserved Pinot Noir.
Beautiful setting, but disappointed in how they've chosen to do their tastings. Most wineries are $5 for 5 wines, waived if you buy 1 bottle. Here, the tasting is $5 for 4 wines, waived if you buy 2 bottles. That's steep, and frankly their wines aren't better than most.
Herb is so wonderful and took great care of us! Fantastic wines too.
Beautiful Winery, restaurant is delightful with fresh ingredients.
Good wineyards ,beautiful place
Beautiful spot with great service. Hard to beat the grounds. I am giving 3/5 because the dining experience was just ok. We ordered the mezze and mussels. Mezze was good but boring, needed some colour and acidity to make the dish a little more exciting. You'd get better Lebanese at most half-way decent donair shops. The mussels were well cooked, with no closed shells, but I am pretty sure the sauce was just their tomato soup or close variation of it. For the prices you're paying for those dishes and the care that goes into the setting and wine I thought it would be a lot better. I'd stick to the wine tasting and walking the grounds and eat somewhere else.
Quail's Gate produces many good wines and has fantastic views. Some of the prices seem a little high, but that comes with the location and reputation of the winery.
Very beautiful winery to get picture at. There is free entry if you want to walk in and see view. If you would like to taste wine than walk to the patio and you can taste wine of your choice for 20$ 4 sample with 10 dollar coupon for further purchase.
Wow, great wine, great view and great service.
Setting and servers were lovely but the food was so disappointing!! We were expecting way more flavor than what we got for such a seemingly high quality restaurant and price. We got the steak and two seafood fettuccini’s. The steak was alright not that great but the tomato sauce for the fettuccini was watery and flavorless unfortunately. And if you buy a bottle of their own wine to have at the restaurant corkage is another $25 for their own wine!!
Fantastic view of the lake and and innovative menu items, some typical fare with a twist, some very creative, and all tasty. Photo is the beef carpaccio. Of course there is the wine selection with the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir choices showing the best of the winery. Group bookings are a max of 12 people.
More modern winery but very cozy inside. We tried 4 wines for $5 per person; waived if you spend more than $30. They allowed my dog inside but only if carried, so I did, but not sure why this policy though.
Didn’t try the food and drink there, but the review and the set up are absolutely nice! It is open to everyone, and you can book the appointment to eat there with the sunshine and the view, or I have seen people line up outside wait to be walk in.
Highly recommended. The restaurant is fabulous and the view is spectacular. Without a doubt, your experience will be wonderful. The wine room and service are also excellent and overall, I would make a trip out to spend time at this winery.
My fiancé and I visited Quails’ Gate Estate Winery yesterday because it was one of 12 West Kelowna wineries participating in the “Sip with your Sweetheart” self-guided wine tour event. The property is beautiful and very scenic. There was a friendly woman outside to welcome visitors. The atmosphere inside the winery was warm and inviting. We made our way to the free wine sample and treat station, which was a small glass of ice wine and a piece of jellied fruit. The ice wine was tasty, but neither of us enjoyed the jellied fruit at all. We also thought that (considering Mission Hill gave 5 complimentary samples) Quails’ Gate was a little stingy! One unique thing Quails’ Gate did that we really enjoyed was allowing visitors to write “love messages” on their lakeview windows with a white marker. My fiancé and I got a nice picture together in front of our message which we thought added something special to our overall experience.
l loved the main but the appy and dessert were pretty mediocre. They need to change up the very uncomfortable chairs. My husband and I both left with a bachache but that could have been partly due to the slow service .Pretty pricey for what it was...
A bit disappointed, didn't have a very good service and the "wine educator" wasn't very enthusiastic. The wine, overrated.
Great venue for trying out wine. A bit higher end than some of the other vineyards nearby. The restaurant outdoor patio is one the best I have been on for atmosphere. Great views of the lake, vineyard and rolling hills. Almost like being in Tuscany.
Hubby and I were looking for a date night dinner tonight and quails gate did not disappoint us!!! The food was incredible, our steaks were done to perfection and everything was bursting with flavour. Our waitress, Cathrine was perfect, …
I'm a BIG fan of QG wine and the winery itself. The view is absolutely fantastic, I could sit there all day long drinking wine.
Attended a private dinner here in the vineyard. Lovely location, great staff, great food!!
This winery is a must stop at / must taste at. Staff were uber helpful (big thanks to the awesome Paulo and David H.). Wines are top quality, the view is incredible, the property is impressive without being pretentious.
Been coming here for 25 years. It's our favorite winery and the service from the tasting room, restaurant and tours are bar none! Highly recommend!
Great view and very good food!
Our dinner here was very good! Everything tasted very good. The ribeye steak could have used a hair more seasoning but that’s really the only thing I noted. Service was good too, our waitress what very nice and out going! Overall we had a great time at quails gate.
Awesome lunch with amazing wine! S/o to our waiter Jorden who was super nice and took great care of us
Dinner at Old Vines was excellent! 38° day in the height of August. We were unable to get reservations last minute so we chanced a walk in. Just as we were going to grab a glass of wine, they had a cancellation and we were able to get in immediately much to our delight. Everything was perfect start to finish followed by a walk down the hill to catch the sunset. Highly recommend!
Beautiful property and a fine way to spend a couple of hours enjoying wine and learning about the wine making process. Buildings and structures are gorgeous.
My girlfriend and I attended a tour and wine tasting and it was excellent. The views were amazing, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The wine was great. We had lunch at the attached restaurant and it was incredible as well.
Quail's Gate is one of my favourite wineries of all time. The staff is welcoming and friendly and very knowledgable about wine. It's a must visit for wine lovers...spread the Christmas Cheer all year with Quail's Gate wines!
Had a wonderful 10 year anniversary with hubby. Server provided excellent recommendations for pairing our wine flights with supper and appies. The service, food and wine were all a ten, highly highly recommend!
Great views of the lake. A bit of a cold atmosphere.
If you want a big winery experience in Kelowna, Quails' Gate is amazing. They have a small kids menu (be prepared to pay more than what you would compared to other restaurants) and the grounds are beautiful with nice lake views.
My friends and I had a wine tasting and lunch at Quails Gate as part of a Stagette weekend. Our wine tasting was nice, the staff were incredibly helpful and sweet. Our dining experience however, was a little bit strange, which is why I’m giving only 3 stars. My friend had a simple white sash on that said “bride” when we entered the restaurant. The hostesses asked her to remove it... but the lady at the table next to us was allowed to wear a large tiara for her birthday. Just a bit weird! Also, our waiter seemed nice at first but he got quite rude after he mistakenly brought us mussels instead of oysters. He blamed it on us and was very snappy! It was quite awkward because we told him we never ordered mussels but he went back and forth with us insisting that we did saying, “we never even talked about oysters.” LOL. All of us were in disbelief... he also mentioned that he was high on weed at the beginning of our service, which was funny until it seemed to affect our dining experience. The food was awesome though! I wouldn’t skip dining at Quails Gate but it’s worth mentioning that we had WAY better overall service at some of the smaller wineries like Mt Boucherie and Beaumont.
Amazing wines! Unbelievable view of the vineyard and lake. The staff is extremely friendly and fun. We ate at the restaurant (Old Vines Restaurant) was very good. Recommend the oysters with Chenin.
By far THE worst winery experience ever. The tasting (paid for), were pours of a thimble size, and no explanation given for any of the wines. I asked a few questions of the lady, who she knew nothing about the wines. The Syrah was nice, but the Pinot Gris & Pinot noir (from their premium selection), were way below par. The view was nice, but this winery was recommended, and extremely disappointing..! Go somewhere else!
We where here on then late afternoon for a wine testing and it was great, totally intimate and with out to rush at all. We try a good variety of wine with a crazy cheese parings tray. The groups and the views are out of this world
Beautiful winery near Kelowna in the Okanagan Valley. Views, wine, food. All excellent. Blonde lady at tasting area extremely polite and friendly.
The food at Old Vines Restaurant is to absolutely die for! Excellent wine and food pairings, and an exciting dessert menu! Highly recommended!
After experiencing the high quality service at Mission Ridge, Liquidity and See Ya Later my wife and I were disappointed in our experience at Quals' Gate. After sampling the wines we made are way to the restaurant to see if we could have dinner outside and was told that they had a 30 min wait. I said no problem and asked to have a drink at the bar. The hostess asked us to go sample some more wine instead. I let her know we had already done that and she begrudgingly sat us in the bar. The bartender got us a couple of cocktails and we waited. 40 minutes later the hostess came by and said 5 more minutes. 25 minutes later the bartender wondered what had happened to us and he found us a table inside. We waited another 25 minutes to order drinks and at that point we had enough. The manager was apologetic and did not charge us for the drinks but we decided to leave. We will not be back. There are many wineries that have got it right when it comes to providing superior service; Unfortunately Quals' Gate has some room to grow in this area. The Bartender was the only saving grace.
Had one good, one not so good experience at the winery. They can be a bit snooty but the wine is good. View makes the deal.
Wines are reasonably priced, so is the lunch menu. Overall, it was a nice and comfortable experience.
Love the scenery and food.
This is my favorite winery in the Okanagan. Everyone is so friendly and kind. And the wines are so remarkable here. Anyone who visits Kelowna in the Okanagan needs to stop by for a wine tasting and friendly staff and atmosphere.
Attended the Reserved Paired Lunch. Incredible experience. Special thank you to Anthony the extrodinary Sommelier who took his time and shared his incredible depth of knowledge with all of us. Highly recommended.
Amazing!!! The food was so delicious! The staff was friendly, professional and we loved every second of our stay.
Overall, the winery has great views and decent wines. But, unfortunately, the wine tasting experience we had was not even close to the experience we had had in other surrounding wineries. Both times there, we felt the staff members were pushing us to rush and didn’t provide any knowledge of the wines or history of the Winery. Sorry, Quails Gate… I won’t be revisiting again.
Food was exquisite. Service was not as good. Everyone was polite and pleasant, but not attentive enough. Had to ask for water, no cutlery when main course arrived. Reservation was messed up. We will return to give the staff another chance.
Nice people work here. Lots of nice people. The views are some of the best available on the west side of Kelowna. Good food at the restaurant too. Stop by and wander around, it's worth the effort.
Always a great day there! Wonderful service and stunning views. We stayed there after our meal and just enjoyed the experience!
Very pleasant tasting experience and interesting wines, glad to see some Botrytis wine on the list! Thank you Anthony for the great experience :)
Thoroughly enjoyed a great Brunch just prior to Christmas. Service was on point and food was delicious. Arrive before 11am for drink specials! Well worth it.
The entrance staff was rude and a bit condescending. The tasting attendant wasn't really excited about the wines or giving much information about them. Not impressed and would not recommend. The picnic area was quite nice, tho.
Beautiful location and room, but we didn't get to try the wines here. Plan your visit more carefully than me - it was stupid busy on the long weekend, we didn't want to have a rushed tasting in a crowded room, so we left, but I suspect it would be a better experience on a less-busy day.
Great experience! Tasting room was fantastic with a knowledge staff. We also ate there and the food and service was top notch.
I went there for wine tasting with a big group, and they were pretty nice about accommodating us! That being said, the wines we tried were all pretty sour, and unlike most wineries around here, you have to buy two bottles to waive the tasting fee instead of one. We had a better time next door at the Hatch.
A very blah tasting experience. Crammed into a noisy room with lots of other people. The sommelier was very indifferent to us, little enthusiasm or engagement. We felt very rushed. He actually left before the tasting was done to start a tasting for another group We love Quails' Gate wine but the tasting was very disappointing. One of the worst I've ever had. On the plus side the grounds are beautiful with very nice views of the lake.
Wonderful setting and excellent staff. Had dinner there as well, delicious food.
No reservations, and they found us a nice place on the terrace. As usual, fantastic service, wine and food????????
What the food at the restaurant lacks, the friendly staff make up for. If it wasn't for my server Sandrine (professional, friendly and welcoming), I'd most likely rate my lunch experience a 1 or 2 star. I've been here numerous times while on business in the Okanagan, but I definitely was not impressed with lunch. Overpriced and lacking flavour compared to past experiences, especially my Squid Salad. Pick some herbs, make it look flashy and squeeze some lemon juice on it for $15. Oh, don't forget to charge customers $3 for bread at the table. I'd recommend to management to look past the numbers and perhaps suck up the cost of bread. It really takes away from what they are trying to do. Try it if you've never been, the view is nice but there are definitely much better, less expensive dining options for your $$.
Beautiful outdoor dining! Great service, great food.
Great unobstructed view. Close to Mission Hill and as busy. Wines are good price. A few wines are cheaper than BC liquor store.
$25 for a vegan option meal with lentils, asparagus, kale and green onions.. Wow Thanks for that Such a joke And thanks for making us take care of our own bill. For a classy place, I expect our bills to be separated and taken care of
My friend and I went for a wine tasting expecting great things having tried their wines in the past and having had great experiences at other wineries. Not only was the wine terrible (we weren’t the only ones unhappy - others were dumping it out too), but our “experience” was supposed to be 45 minutes (barely 30), they weren’t paying much attention to us, and at the end we asked to try an item that we hadn’t yet paid for and they came over demanding payment before we had even finished drinking it. Overall terrible experience and will never go back.
Amazing experience with the family. This place gives you sense of calm and freshness. The wine tasting was great, pretty good wines and several options. I’d come back to try more!
We had a fantastic experience here last night. Made the reservation online and gave them a heads up that we are vegan. When we arrived, our waitress knew about our request and said the chef had a couple of options for us that he would create. We said go for it and it was absolutely delicious. Great staff, great wine, great food, beautiful views.
My Daughter and I visited the tasting room, met with Mike Lee, who gave us tastes and advice on pairing our upcoming lunch with the delicious wines. Jennifer, our server in the restaurant, was an excellent host. Her knowledge of the menu and wine choices was brilliant. Very pretty surroundings. Good experience for me.
What an amazing place! The food and wine pairings are fantastic! And a spectacular view.
Everything was great, our waitress was awesome and helpful. Food and wine were delicious. The only thing I can complain about was the manner my daughter and I were addressed while siting down in garden chairs. It turns out it’s an actual table and we were quickly and abruptly told to go back to our own table by the host. Unfortunately it left the wonderful experience with a bitter after taste.
We ate here on June 28th, 2020 for our wedding anniversary. It's the most beautiful location and atmosphere in all of Kelowna. We have been here many times and its always consistent. Gorgeous gardens and incredible food and wine. The staff were wonderful as well, not stuffy but friendly and professional.
Six of us went on a wine tour on August long weekend. Our tour guide, Frances, was hilarious and very informative. She poured us wine throughout the tour as she walked us around. I would recommend bringing your own water bottle as it was very hot, but the wine was delicious and the experience was overall very enjoyable.
Amazing and delicious experience as always! Thanks Quailsgate!!
Best wine tour I ever made. The tour guide was awesome, I thinks his name is Dave. I had such an amazing time tasting some really good wine walking around the vines and enjoy a great view of the lake. I also did the wine tasting with cheese pairing and I loved it. Definitely recommend this place.
Really enjoyed the food & scenery. Service is also really good. Good non-alcoholic options for drinks!!!
Rudely threw us out because we had kids (well behaved ) with us maybe? Am not surprised some restaurants do this, but heck they had maybe 10 open tables. You know, we could have been given a corner one. The food might be good , but how would we know ????
Absolutely delicious pork chop. The final cheese platter also hit the spot.
Stunning views, wonderful staff, amazing wine and food. Expect to book reservations 2-3 weeks in advance.
Great location with great value! Our tasting guide was really friendly and very knowledgeable about the wines on offer. His passion for wines and the wine making process was totally infectious. Because we were in a group we got the group pass for the wine tasting on a private table which was great. It was super busy because it was a long weekend. We learned all kinds of interesting tidbits about various varietals. The food at their restaurant is tasty and not expensive considering location and quality. The service was exemplary and the views of the vineyard are unparalleled. The wine yard looks super pretty during sunset, when they have their little lights on in the garden. I will definitely be making a trip back out here!
Great wine, Great views, although its tough to enjoy the vineyard this time of year we still find joy in visiting the shop and browsing the wines they have
Good wine, great property, however, horrendous customer service. We were here with a private tour. A Quail's Gate employee, Sara, I believe her name was kind of stand offish and rude. Was so excited to be at this winery due to all the rave reviews I've heard, and if it weren't for the good wine I would have gave this place a one star. I understand you're a big winery but you're never too big to treat your customers right.
Had a 'take home' valentines dinner from Quails' Gate yesterday, the lamb shank package. It was excellent, made our evening. Was particularly special in these days of order out meals. This one was 'special'. Compliments to the chef and all staff involved in preparing the food and instructions for final cooking at home. High marks, will recommend to others.
Very accommodating when we asked to change our reservation time. Our service was attentive and very pleasant. My chickpea dish had good flavour but was very dry...however the wine was delightful!
Nice winery. Very friendly staff , generous pours for tastings well priced tasting . Even though it's busy and pretty popular it still felt quaint and comfortable.
Awesome wine and food, thought it was just the great wine turns out amazing food, try their sirloin steak, make in perfection
You wait for a tasting and then the server ends up serving another group at same time instead of focusing on 1 group at a time. Beautiful grounds though. Not as friendly as other wineries near by.
Quails Gate decided to cancel my friends wedding reception 4 hours before it was to take place. Totally unreliable and unprofessional company. Never, never use their services! Business must be too good.
Gorgeous place to dine! We were seated in the outdoor area, with a beautiful view of the vineyard. Food was great, service was wonderful too! After dinner you also have the possibility to stroll through the vineyard area. The view is amazing!
I stopped by for lunch earlier this week... The food was absolutely amazing, and the view from the patio while eating was beautiful! …
I did a company team building event at this location. They did an amazing 5 course meal paired with amazing wines. The views were amazing and the food and wine that still hasn't been beat for me to this day.
We had a great tasting experience when visiting Kelowna. Our guide was very knowledgeable and helpful!
I went here for a tasting and had a lovely experience. All of the staff is extremely educated on wine production and tasting. I didn't have one bad wine out of the six I tried. I would have bought even more wine, but I will be joining the wine club instead. This will definitely be a spot to return to.
Beautiful place, food was amazing and the service was top notch. Love the wine
Beautiful Location! We had a great experience & ???? the ????
Sublime dining experience, one of the best trying restaurants in Canada. very nice food, superlative presentations surrounded by excellent food and an excellent choice of good wines. very attentive and professional staff. lovely view of the vineyards. highly recommended
Our experience was flawless. The guy who made us taste the wine, who was from Ontario, was awesome. Even if we are young adults, we felt welcomed and he was explaining everything very clearly. We really appreciated our moment. Thank you again to him!
Busy and Beautiful! The atmosphere here is exquisite, to walk through the vineyards, stop and have a meal on the outside terrace, or do a wine tasting in the shop, all is done with the upmost in quality. The wines are good, though more expensive than some other wineries, but not necessarily better than other wineries. You do pay for the atmosphere. Charging for shipping to other areas. Large parking lot.
Amazing experience at Quails Gate, great views and our tasting guide made the day all that much better. Great job Ethan!
Busy winery but friendly staff. Did lunch there and it was amazing. The food, service and view.
Yannick was fantastic, he created the best tasting experience. He was passionate about wines and this is exactly what I am looking for when doing tastings. We could compare vines, notes, quality, years, etc. We did the two tasting experiences and shared to try as many wines as possible. We also had lunch at the restaurant; the food and the view were both fabulous. A well deserved 5/5.
Haven't got the chance to try the food but the wine testing was pretty good also good customer services
A nice winery with an absolutely gorgeous view. The wine is good, the view is just the cherry on top! They have a great selection from reds to whites as well as a rosé option. The prices are fair and there's even a little restaurant you can stop to grab a bite to eat on. But back to the landscaping, it's beautiful and grabbing a bottle of wine just to take it all in is well worth it. The wines are closer to a dry selection and a must-try for the more seasoned wine lovers.
Food and wine was really good, the atmosphere was amazing and the staff were very friendly. Great way to spend the afternoon
Taking one of the very good guided tours through the winery and tasting the wonderful production are worth every penny. And quite instructive too! We also had a wonderfully prepared 3 steps lunch at the restaurant, with the matching wine for each dish. Excellent food and wine in a relaxed modern ambience, a place to remember!
Thank you to Jillian Harris for introducing this place as one of her favourites.. I desperately needed to check it out while I was on my way to Vancouver. I absolutely loved our delicious decadent lunch at the restaurant and our walk through the vineyards. Wish we could have stayed longer in Kelowna and enjoyed the whole experience but glad I decided to stop!
Excellent wines, good food and super views. We arrived and it was very busy, eventually we got to taste the wines, very good ! A bit on the pricey side but very good. The restaurant was full, we would have gone but maybe next time we are back in Kelowna. Try the Red old vines Foch, a bold wine full of unique flavorrs. The view of the lake from this winery is very nice. Shannon Lake golf course is only a short drive, we did both in one day. Life is good lol
Stunning spot, no doubt. My boyfriend and I roamed around the beautiful property and wanted to have a glass of wine but couldn't seem to find a server? We waited in the "to be seated" area but no luck. It could very well have been closed but there were people around and no one really approached us to let us know either way. I'd still give it a try again as I've heard a lot of positive things about this place!
What a tough review to write... Being club members, we always had great experiences at Quails Gate. From our …
We had not pre booked a tasting, but were told by the concierge to go to the store look around for 1/2hr and to come back at noon for a first come first serve basis. We had done what she suggested but when we came back different concierge welcomed us and suggested that we book or come back in another hour and a half. We weren't able to book using the ap so my wife asked her to book one for us. She told us they didn't have that capability. Miraculously in those couple minutes there was room for us. Very pleasurable once passed the flustered concierge! Server was fantastic! This could have been a 5 star experience.
Not kid friendly. Loved it here a little over a year ago. Came back this year with a 1 old and another small family. They refused reservations for the larger group once hearing there were three kids, and when we offered to split our group they still wouldn't allow us to reserve after hearing we have kids.
A pleasant outdoor tasting on the balcony with fantastic views. Quails gate is a must see winery, beautifully manicured grounds and a pleasant walk through the vineyard completed our experience.
Greta wine tasting. Selection is more tipped towards a dryer taste. Excellent photo opportunities in this area and the restaurant looked fantastic.
Wonderful wines, wonderful view, and amazing food! I enjoyed everything about my visit.
Make sure you have a reservation. Negative: We waited for an hour to be seated and got terrible seating. We were placed by the bar, high chair and facing people eating at the outside patio. You would think being with a five year old, they would have found better seating. Positives: Food was great.
Paulo was absolutely amazing and so knowledgeable. He was so kind and you could really tell that he loves what he does. He made our experience unforgettable, thank you Quails Gate!
Great food. Best wine in Kelowna. Great service. Great location.
Favourite place to go for a romantic dinner. Love their Gnocchi, every wine I've tried (especially the 2011 Foch we had this time) and as well the sourdough to start! Our server even gave us wine glass covers to keep any bugs out of our drinks!! We will be back for sure :)
What a tough review to write... Being club members, we always had great experiences at Quails Gate. From our tastings to the restaurant, always great. However, this tasting we took part in with family - we had the unfortunate experience of meeting Donna. Normally staff at Quails Gate are friendly, welcoming, and attentive - Donna was quite the opposite. Perhaps she was having a bad day, but this should be no excuse for her to show the opposite of the previously mentioned traits. We found her to be extremely rude and short, cutting off our questions or comments in what seemed like an attempt to hurry us out. Sad to say, but as much as we love receiving our shipments - her attitude alone was enough to make us consider canceling our membership. Would strongly recommend the management to look into this, to avoid others from potentially doing the same.
Great experience! Amazing Pinot noirs, riesling and chenin blanc's. Had a amazing experience with the sommelier!
Very nice place you will never forget. With a good wine
Amazing winery with an informative tour, great wines to taste, and excellent service and food through their restaurant. Highly recommend for a visit when you are in Kelowna!
Beautiful place with outstanding views, flexible in terms of reservation, outstanding wines! What's makes the place truly amazing is their personnel - professional and friendly.
Great place great wine. Outstanding views
Fantastic winery experience. The restaurant serves local food cooked exceptionally well. Make sure you do a wine tasting or two as well.
Herb is fantastic! Visited this winery for the first time in March and now I'm back again in July because the wine was absolutely amazing and I'm not even a wine person. Herb was very knowledgeable on all the wines and made our wine tasting super memorable! If you go to Quails Gate, make sure you visit Herb :)
Absolute best place to eat in the whole valley! The staff are always gracious, friendly and informed. Kelly is a gem. So comfortable outside even at 10 degrees. Perfection! Cornish game hen and risotto are out of this world!
Beautiful winery and restaurant, great wine but it appears they think they are so successful that they done need to care about customer service anymore. We called 15 minutes out and asked if we could get a table for afternoon snacks and drinks for two. Where told it’s not a problem. When we got there we were told it’s at least an hour wait time. Needless to say we left...
We have been visiting Quails Gate since they started in the little farm cottage many years ago. We have always enjoyed our experience and their dining is awesome when the weather is nice. We visited again last year and this afternoon and I have to say, not too impressed. We were ignored when we waited to try their wines -which you have to pay to sample anything decent. there were lots of primped staff strolling around but no one to answer any questions about their products. It was like being in a snotty department store where the clerks feel they are too important to help you. If you are more of an up tight wine snob maybe you will identify better with this place. I think we will stick with the less pretentious wineries around...
Amazing wine, the pinot noir is my favourite. The restaurant is even better, great food with a great view to match.
We had a beautiful lunch at their restaurant with a wine pairing to match. The food, service, views and wine were all excellent. This is a fantastic wine tasting or lunch option
Fantastic wine, beautiful view, delicious food. Service was top-notch and overall the value is well in line with the cost. They'll see us again.
Beautiful Location, with vines you can walk into right next to the tasting room. Tasting rooms give you a fantastic view of the vines and the lake. Large selection of wines wine and red, you should find something you like.
Had a tasting and tried for two days straight to book a table at the restaurant. Seems as though there is an issue with them answering the phone. Upon arrival for the tasting, the patio was completely empty, and they were not sitting guests on the patio due to “health and safety of their staff”. During the tasting, we saw 5 tables being sat on the patio. Following the tasting, asked again if there was any space and they were allowing those with a reservation to choose inside or outside but not filling the remaining seats, leaving 50% of the capacity un-seated. Knowing that people travel to see your winery, purchase an overpriced tasting, and leave with hundreds of dollars of wine, I think there is a grand opportunity for a lesson in customer service.
Nice winery with a great view, bit expensive compared to buying bottles from the BCL though which is disappointing
Arrived for our reservation at 8:00 made 2 weeks prior and met with staff explaining that there was no table prepared because other guests were staying longer than expected. After waiting 15 minutes to finally get a table, we were ignored and forgotten about and werent acknowledged until we had decided to leave from the lack of service. Dont waste your time, go somewhere else.
The wine here is AMAZING. I can't knock that. I'm giving QG 3 stars for the wine. 2 stars goes missing because of customer service. We were a group of 7 here for a tasting, the man helping us did not even explain the different wines to us. He just poured and did his own thing. I've been to many wineries and never had this happen before. I've always had impeccable service at QG until recently. It was pretty rude to be honest. Not only that, but the cashier was also not very pleasant to deal with either. Not happy with the service wine is good though.
Great atmosphere, great wine, beautiful view, and amazing staff. Of the wineries that we've visited in the valley, this was the most child-friendly!
With my unrefined pallet, I can only vouch for the excellent service, beautiful vineyards and gorgeous tasting room. Mandy was so friendly and kind in serving us during our wine tasting. Definitely a place you must visit!
One of the best winery's on the Okanagan.
"We do not allow any kind of celebration in here." was what I remember from my most recent visit. I've been the Quails Gate before and it was decent. Although nothing was exceptional, their view was quite nice. My most recent visit was really unpleasant. My friends and I were in Kelowna for a few days for one of the girls bachelorette party, and Quails Gate was one of our stops. When we entered the tasting room, we were approached by the manager there, because we were having a bachelorette party. He stated it's a new policy that they do not allow "any kind of celebration there, due to previous experiences." Another older lady carrying a box of wine for a client walked by and said rudely "just take it off!" (referring to my friends bride-to-be sash). It is totally understandable that every winery has different policy, especially theirs having to deal with alcohol, but the way they put it and their staff could at least be more professional. We had dinner at the their restaurant and the service was great. The manager did come by and apologize, but like I said, nothing wrong with having policies, but it's the way they presented it.
Amazing vistas, incredible food and wine, fabulous service
Beautiful winery with great wines and amazing views. The service was fantastic in the restaurant and the tasting room. It’s worth a visit, even in the winter.
We wanted to come for the wine tasting but arrived half an hour before closing and was told it was too late. We were able to go into the store though to check out the wines and ended up purchasing three bottles. Although we didn't get to try the tasting, I loved the view of the vineyards and Kelowna landscape in the back.
What can I say, another great winery, the pour staff were very friendly and knew their grapes. The restaurant, an award winner, lived up to it's reputation, I had the pork and it was very satisfying, well paired with the accompanying veggies and sauce. Loved it!
We really had a good time with Jennifer who was really knowledgeable. The products are great and the view is just stunning! Great experience.
There is something special about this place. I don't know if it's the people, the pinkish sky, the delicious food or dazzling views - I found this place to be relaxing and wonderful. The staff and our server were very helpful and friendly - definitely recommend this place for a special evening.
Exceptional quality of wines and a beautiful setting to enjoy a tasting or dinning experience. Staff were friendly and professional, above all very knowledgeable of the wines.
Gorgeous winery with an exceptional view & restaurant. Went there to have a lunch during sunny summer, Such a memorable experience. The food is absolutely delicious and highly recommend with wine pairing.
Not very good business people. The catering was poor. Meat for the event i was at was undercooked and very late. Some servers were outstanding and others clearly didnt care.
Exceptional time spent one afternoon participating in the Scenic Sensory Experience with Bill, who was more than fantastic in his passion and stories regarding wine and his time in the business. Would definitely go again the next time we are in Kelowna.
My husband and I took our daughter and her fiance for lunch and essentially ordered appetizers. After an hour wait, we left. Tables around us were served within 15 minutes and our order appeared to be lost. I have contacted the manager by email and had no response. Since writing this review, the manager (who was away) has gotten back to me and they have gone over and above to see that we had a positive experience to replace this poor one. We were invited back for lunch, on the house, and the service and meal were absolutely outstanding! They have won back our confidence and we will happily return.
Love their wines. The food was delicious highly recommended lunch here. The staff were amazing
Excellent foods match great wine, gorgeous place & the atmosphere is great! Service is absolutely nice! Just love it!
So it's a hot hard to write a review about our yesterday experience but no harm to share a little bit of that The winery was perfectly beautiful... They did a great job on making sense that force you to stop and take another photo The tasting experience, on the other hand, was not so enjoyable... It was crowded and we weren't comfortable, as there were lots of do and don't related to what you paid for (just the tasting) and the others! I like places with a sense of being local, but here had a touristy style, which I am not a fan! The wine is always GREAT tho ???? I love the Rose,’ and it's my fav among Okanagan wines.
Quintessential Okanagan winery with big views, a great tasting room and patio, and world class restaurant.
Beautiful restaurant, large, busy, friendly staff, nice buildings, good wine.
What a fantastic place. Very friendly staff, especially Mel who greated us so graciously. This just became our fav spot in Kelowna area.
Popular place. Great wines. Never been to the restaurant. They do some interesting tours.
Awesome winery! View was amazing, wine was amazing and the man that was heading our tasting Anthony was soo knowledgable, professional and made it so fun for us! Would recommend and go back for sure! Edit: 2 years later, saw Karen, GREAT EXPERIENCE ☺️
We stopped in for a tasting and our server Matthew was incredible! He was friendly and recommended some amazing wines to try. The view was scenic. I would definitely go back and try their bistro next time.
had one of my best wine experiences ever. my girlfriend and i got lucky and were able to walk up on a busy day and get in for the tasting room. Anthony and Suzanne were beyond incredible with there hospitality and accommodation and made the tasting experience so much more then just trying a few wines. beautiful location, great service, and incredible wine!
Lovely winery, great food and awesome service. It’s was fantastic that we got to walk through the winery and have lunch at restaurant. The food was plated well and very tasty. It was quick to get a table even on a busy long weekend. Would love to visit again the next time I am in Kelowna. Short drive from the city and it was worth visiting. The view was tremendous.
11/10 service. Every dish we shared was incredible and the wine pairings were perfect.
Good atmosphere! Nice food presenting! Overall is very good and worth the price. I love the duck breast with the blueberries. I would definitely come back to this place again!
For the restaurant experience, it was truly amazing. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. The food was amazing and you get to try very good wines.
Amazing food, service was on point and kept social distancing protocols. Price point was reasonable for the quality.
Terrible looking Vineyard and mostly foreign workers. They don't support organic either. Mass production low quality.
Scenery was amazing, had a great atmosphere, but unfortunately service was a major issue. Sat down for over ten minutes before being noticed and then it took a total of 25 minutes before we were able to order our food. We were bounced from our original server to another one to take our orders and then we finished with our original server. Food was decent for the price and the view was great, only issue was the bad service and the table across from us seemed to have issues too because the manager was over there frequently clearing their table and deducting items from their bill.
One of my favourite wineries
Beautiful venue and the wine tasting associates were awesome. Informative, patient and knowledge. It should be on every ones wine tour. The wines are amazing.
Wine is delicious, but more importantly they are selling quail plushies. I have named mine Louis.
This is a really romantic place even for a lunch in winter time. Spectacular snowy mountain and lake views with really warm atmosphere. Food choices are great and truly deliciously. Price is really reasonable.
Knowledgeable staff, fantastic wine collection and the one of the most impressive view of the lake and valley! Highly recommended...
I was getting a little tipsy, if not completely horizontal, by late afternoon. Blame a tour and lunch at Mission Hill for that. We had planned to remain there until the evening. Oddly, it was an employee at Mission Hill that recommended a break to visit Quails’ Gate down the road. As such, we only had a couple hours, a severely limited ration, and a choice I seriously regret. Like Mission Hill, Quails’ Gate deserves an afternoon. As we plan our next journey to explore the many wineries of the Okanagan, both Quails’ Gate and Mission Hill remain on that list. Unlike Mission Hill, a very glossy and sharpened tourist destination, resembling a monastery with its walled estate and stone structures, Quails’ Gate is rustic, unpretentious. Exposed natural wood is proudly displayed in a construction style blending modern Canadian architecture with Asian influences. This theme carries into the main shop, with only a few selections of wrought iron accentuating stained wood. A smaller shop than Mission Hill, but more intimate, Quails’ Gate encourages more dialogue with the staff. Samples are free if you purchase at least two bottles…so I bought four. I had planned on only two, but you know…wine. And I was drinking (girlfriend was driving). By the end, I sampled six, and got sold on The Bench—2013 Pinot Gris, Richard’s Block—2012 Pinot Noir, the 2014 Rose, and the star player, one which Mission Hill didn’t offer, the 2012 Fortified Vintage Foch. Like Mission Hill, a crate was boxed and shipped home. Quails’ Gate also offers an enticing supplementary selection of books, glasses, and condiments, including chocolate cups in which to serve said Fortified Vintage Foch. The attendant that served me, Daphne, was fantastic, with generous samples and on-cue product knowledge. This summarizing review doesn’t properly encompass the value of visiting Quail’s Gate. If I was traveling along Boucherie Road, I would enter through the northern entrance from the Okanagan highway and hit a half dozen wineries along that road. This would result in Quails’ Gate being second to last and then culminating in the picturesque Mission Hill. Knowing what we know now, we should have had lunch at Quails’ Gate, and then dinner at Mission Hill. Oh well, I guess that means we're coming back.
This is a beautiful winery. The ambience and the view is fantastic. The staff are so friendly and helpful. I would recommend going there first before anywhere else.
Love this vineyard. Great wine but if you are in kelowna you need to stop at the restaurant and grab lunch. Food is great. Make a reservation, go early for some wine tasting and then get lunch. Lots of free parking. Seating is indoor/outdoor and has a view of the grape vines and lake.
We were so impressed with our Reserve Paired Lunch at this beautiful winery! Our sommelier, Louise, was so friendly and very knowledgeable. The food was AMAZING and the wine was terrific. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Kelowna. I would highly recommend Quail's Gate to anyone!
I’ve been to Quail’s Gate twice, once on my honeymoon and then second with a group of friends. Both times I had a lovely experience. The food lives up to the price, though I do wish the portions were a bit bigger. The view of the vines from the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, and the staff are very professional and friendly. I will definitely push my husband to take me again when we’re in Kelowna next.
Beautiful setting. Love their white wines! Fun to go for wine tasting and lunch on the garden patio overlooking the vineyards and lake.
Lovely winery with gorgeous views and photo ops. Nice restaurant.
Toured Quail's Gate in August 2017 with friends. Was the final stop on our wine tour and the fact that it is just so damn beautiful made it the perfect end to the perfect day. Our group got to go out into to VIP area out on the deck overlooking the Vineyard and the lake. It was so fantastic to be able to do our tasting out there and not in the tasting room as it was super bush and pretty packed inside. Our tour guide and a fellow from the winery walked us into the Vineyard and explained how the graft different varieties of grapes together. They explained how different growing conditions can really affect the growing and production process. It really was rather intriguing and we as affect group thought it was pretty cool to get some behind the scenes info. The weather was amazing and the grounds, the eine and the staff were really quite engaging. Thanks for having us! #LetsGuide
This place is one of the more picturesque wineries in the area. The complimentary wines weren't all that tasty. But the wine that we had at the bistro with dinner was delicious. We had clams for appetizers which was mouth-watering. The trout was good but the halibut was quite bland.
This is one of the best wineries in the okanagan. The wine is great (the foche is the best I've had here) and the food in the restaurant and service is remarkable. Well run establishment and the wine tasting is superb as the servers really have a deep knowledge of the craft.
I love the gewürztraminer wine here. It’s my favourite gewürztraminer that I have tried from the Okanagan wine region. I usually favour rose wine over white wine but this fruit forward gewürztraminer wine is definitely the exception (the rose wine here is also great though). A tasting here costs $10 per person, waived with a purchase of a bottle of wine per person. The tasting price is higher than some others in the area. This is a winery my husband and I both enjoy so we usually each purchase at least one bottle, thereby skipping the tasting fee.
Ecellent service, shoutout to Herb who assisted us in the wine tasting.
My 2nd visit to QG. 1st visit was 2 yrs ago and service was great ...but have been hearing from friends QG wasn’t as good as before .. anyway, I decided to revisit again. The restaurant food was not as good as previously. Also they asked me not to leave my dog at the outdoor patio even it’s on the leash but instead put her next to the outside tree area ..it was a cold day temperatures around 6 degree and no one will want to seat outside dah. Sorry QG,you just lose a customer .
My friends and I had a great experience of vineyard tasting. I highly recommend this place for anyone!
Quail's Gate just hosted our company's annual Festive Season Party, and completely laid out the Red Carpet for our employees! By far the best personal service accompanied by the most wonderful 4 course pairing meal ever. Ever!!! Thank-you for the best evening I have ever experienced!
This place is a triple play on fantastic! The wine and food, property and view, and especially the staff. The best!!
According to a rep for Wine Tasting at Quail's Gate, Grizzli winery is a much better place to visit. He said there is $160 dollar invested in that winery by a Chinese billionaire. Next time, I will visit there and recommend all of you to go to Grizzli winery instead.
The wine is really good. We went to three wineries today, the setup at Quails Gate was the nicest. The wines were also better for the money to our minds. We were able to buy a bottle of wine and drink at a nice picnic table on premise for the regular price. and use the washrooms at the place. Staff were friendly and helpful at all places we went to.
My favorite Okanagan winery! We always spend at least an hour here having numerous tastings, getting snacks at the restaurant and chatting up guests and hosts. Love it here. The foch wine is to die for
The wine was good. The white better than the reds. The food was HORRIBLE. Had the lamb and it was by far the worst lamb dish I have ever had. So over priced as well. Took an hour to get after ordered it so we were expecting it to be superb. SO DISAPPOINTING. Will never go back or recommend to anyone. We were also still hungry after eating the 50 dollar lamb. Brutal. We had our glass of wine blown over from the wind as did the woman beside us and the restaurant didnt even offer to top it up. Bad customer service. Also didnt offer a table inside after that happened.
The restaurant service and management is extremely awful! We ordered the table by phone. After that, they didn’t find our reservation when we confirmed it on the way to the restaurant. After I confirmed twice, they said the reservation was cancelled. But we didn’t get any phone call to inform us. And then, they transferred to their manager. The manager is extremely rude. He firstly blamed us that we didn’t come to the restaurant on time??? How can we come when they didn’t find our reservation???
May I say Wow!!!!!!!!! We had a corporate event last in the day so I didn’t visit either the winery or the tasting rooms. This review is about their private meeting rooms, excellent food and outstanding food and wine. We Had a work dinner in a room dressed to the nines, with a stunning view over their vineyards and the lake. I mean, it doesn’t get better than that. One wall of room was full of wine fridges displaying bottles and hundreds of wine glasses. Each wine of the night was served in its proper wine glass. Well done! Service was impecable, friendly and professional. They not only served wine and food but wee truly there for us to coordinate the event. The food was also excellent, top quality and presentation. By the end of the night I really didn’t want to leave the place, this is something rarely happens.
Been to quails gate a few times. The wine experience is 5 dollars for 3 pours with 2 comp pours of the *house * wines. The service at the wine tasting is solid. The price is waved if you purchase 2 bottles per tasting. The pours for the tasting are fair for the cost. Dinning is a great experience. Good quality service and food.
Great service, great wine, great meals. We enjoyed every moment of our evening.
This is a great winery. They have a wonderful tasting bar with great appetizers. The staff are very knowledgeable and I learned a lot about wine. There is also a very good restaurant here. It is a good place to spend an afternoon. The food was very good and they were able to adjust the menu to suit food allergies (dairy and gluten). This is a must see in West Kelowna!!
The main middle aged hostess was absolutely ignorant almost walked out with the way she made me feel within the first 60 seconds of me entering the restaurant facial expressions and tone of voice and customer service was extremely appalling from her. Views amazing, food top notch, drinks yummy, service ok ????
Dinner was excellent but unfortunately wine store was closed by the time we were done.
Booking through Teehouse Tours was the best decision in terms of wine tours. Our driver Arthur was very knowledgeable about the region and wines. We had a lot of fun, especially at Quail’s Gate, where Dylan gave us a wonderful tour and and gave us plenty of info about wines and the general set up of wineries around the Okanagan. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a good day around Kelowna.
We went for dinner at the vines. What a great place for a special occasion. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was well presented and delicious. Great setting with wonderful views
Stunning and delicious! Right from the moment we walked through the door, everyone was amazing and friendly. Spacing was great. We felt safe but also away from all the covid stress. The food was amazing. The bison carpaccio was the best I have ever had. Overall experience was incredible, especially with the sunset views!
Beautiful grounds. Knowledgeable server and quality wine. It has everything!
Both the tasting room staff, and restaurant staff are attentive and fun! I go quite regularly for Happy Hour and am never unimpressed. Affordable wine and tapas, and always deliciously fresh oysters! I recommend sitting on the patio while sipping a glass of the dry Riesling or rosé - if you can get your hands on it!
Was excellent. Great appies and of course wine. Could turn down the music volume
Poor wine tasting service, good in restaurant is ok.
Not as good as expected. Should be one of the 150 best restaurants in Canada so after a perfect dinner at Cedar Creek we decided to have dinner the next evening at Quails Gate. Unfortunately this was the wrong decision. Surrounding and Service were perfect but food was not. Beef tatare had too much salt and mustard, the chorizo in the octopus dish was too thick and dominant, halibut was not well flavoured, the vegetables too hard and a sauce was missing, the foi grass terrine had not taste of foi grass and the clams were sandy... We left dissatisfied with paying the whole bill.... Therefore next time we'll be back at Cedar Creek
The winery itself was beautiful, as we were greeted with sunshine and grapevines being watered. Added to that the sparkling lake beaming by the side of the winery added an unspoken tranquil to the beauty of that all. I did not eat at the resturant, so cant post any reviews regarding that, but the sight seeing was worth it.
Fantastic wine, fantastic view, fantastic staff. What more can I say. Even though the indoor part isn't dog friendly, the hostesses were kind(and happy) enough to watch my pup while we tasted wine. Will come back in the future for the restaurant.
We wanted to come for the wine tasting but arrived half an hour before closing and was told it was too late. We were able to go into the store though to check out the wines and ended up purchasing three bottles. Although we didn't get to try the tasting, I loved the view of the vineyards and Kelowna landscape in the back.
Great family tour by Frances today. Great wines and a stunning view. Worth to visit!
If you're ordering from the brunch menu. Order the pasta. You won't be disappointed
Amazing food. ???? Great service.
We had lunch during happy hour. A delicious mushroom soup with the fried cauliflower. Wonderful lunch paired with a 2015 Pinot noir.
Didn’t try the food and drink there, but the review and the set up are absolutely nice! It is open to everyone, and you can book the appointment to eat there with the sunshine and the view, or I have seen people line up outside wait to be walk in.
This winery has a great view from the tasting patio. The staff helping us was very friendly and knowledgeable.
We were skeptical of the place when we initially booked, after a snooty tasting experience a month ago. We were very pleasantly surprised with an excellent meal, excellent service and an absolutely wonderful Gewertztraminer. Well done !
It is a beautiful winery. Beautiful view. We went in for brunch. My hubby had steak n egg I had eggs benny's. We had to call the server back as he didnt ask how my husband would like his steak or egg cooked. The serve told us it is cooked the way it says on the menu. We still had our menu so we looked and it didnt say a thing about how the food was cooked. Steak and eggs are typical cooked to the person ordering preference so his statemnet came as quite a surprise. I told him I prefer eggs poached hard. As it turned out. My husband liked the way the steak and eggs had been cooked. Myself I would have had to send it back as none of it was cooked enough for me. My eggs did not come poached hard and the sauce tasted sour to me so I only finished one side thank god. I have been sick since I left there I loved the restaurant loved the view and i will go back again and hope to have a better meal and be able to change this rating. The only other thing I would like to point out is the staff they have greeting and seating their guests also need to be alot friendlier and welcoming. I found both the girls at the front rather snotty!
Good variety of wines for different tastes. Nice view of Lake.
We enjoyed lunch with friends at the winery, however, I don't recommend the cheese plate. You receive 2 ounces of cheese, a few nuts, a cracker and a sliced plum for $20.00. Highly over rated for the price. In spite of this, everything else we ordered was delicious. Our waitress was awesome. Would have loved the manager to acknowledge our concerns and that they are considering making some changes, but she back pedalled and intimated the waitress should have mentioned this. Too bad, because we had great service from Amber. Still a great venue in spite of this.
Came for the wine pairing lunch. A fantastic experience. Vitto was very helpful in greeting us and taking us for some additional wine tastings before the event. Anthony was great in explaining each wine along with the accompanying dish. Fantastic meal. Only "complaint" was the size of each dish. I wanted more! Highly recommended.
This winery bailed on a bride 5 hours before her reception, on her wedding day. First the reception site was moved into the vineyard a week prior which was fine, then revoked on day of wedding because of the chance of rain. Ever hear of arranging for tents? Your reliability, communication , and customer service are at the very bottom of the barrel. I guess agreements , contracts mean nothing to you. Shame on you for causing an extreme amount of unneccesary stress on the bride and her family on her wedding day. If the option was available, I would give no star for the rating as you don't deserve even 1.
Cheers to Herb! He was lovely and personable. The view and atmosphere is amazing. We bailed on dinner, nothing on there for the average person.
We had lunch there and it was absolutely wonderful. Our server (Sandrine) was so friendly and efficient, she really made the experience great! I can't speak to the rest of the menu but the Orecchiette pasta was potentially the most delicious pasta I've ever tasted.
Ishwin was the best server!! Super polite, fun and attentive! He made our whole experience amazing!! Thanks for the great lunch! :)
This is a beautiful Winery with stunning views. The wines are ok but the restaurant is a bit overpriced for the quality of food that is served. I've eaten here about 6 times with friends and family as the patio in the summertime is amazing.
One of the best in town! Nice atmosphere and environment! Make the reservation! But the menu seems not much update much lately
Nice view with nice staff and nice wine
Delicious food, great service. Great view and atmosphere. They have great Covid-19 protocols, including all staff wearing face masks and fully sanitizing after guests leave.
Beautiful winery with great wines and friendly staff.
Great wine tasting experience in a beautiful setting. We also ate dinner here one evening and all agreed that the food, service, and view made for a most enjoyable experience.
I generally have a pretty good experiences while visiting Quails Gate and the Old Vines restaurant... I can easily look past certain issues as I understand that it is covid times and the time I visited was during a heatwave. I had made reservations two months prior knowing how early the restaurant books up, by doing so I was able to get a 7:30 reservation of two tables of 6 to accomodate my sisters family and my own. Long experience short, we were called in less then 24 hours before our reservations to be let known that they were canceling our reservation due to the severe heatwave, causing the closure of their patio. Understandably, it was not good conditions for servers to work nor would it be good condition for diners to dine. Though after being left the voicemail informing us, I followed up by calling back to be told that they had no room inside the dining room to accomodate us and that they are tending to their reservations starting for the oldest booked. I then mentioned that we booked our reservations about two months ago ( I understand there could have been reservations before us but by the time slot and party size we had, I find it hard to believe we weren't one of the very first few to book) and the hostess was a bit frazzled and advised I called the manager instead. Therefore I did and left a voicemail to only never to be returned. Called again the next day to only be hung up on. My issue here isn't that we were not able to dine here, but more so the lack of professionalism and the feeling left as if they could careless. I see a lot of "we hold ourselves to a high level of service" in a lot of the poorer reviews... That is what I would say was not done in this situation and by reading some of the other reviews, seems I am not the only one.
Always have had 5 star service and food whenever I have gone here. They now have take out food during covid and it was excellent. :)
Truffle fries was average . The preparation of the fries were not up to standard. The squid appetizer was great with nice mixture of colours and flavours. It can use a little more contrasting flavours. As for flank steak, the cut of the meat can can be a little better where the meat will be more tender. Pork cheek was braised well. It is soft and tender. The side ingredients of the pork cheek was flavourful and the broth was good. I would suggest adding a touch more flavour to the pork cheek. Dessert is above average. Food 7.5/10 Service 8.5/10 Ambiance 8/10 Value 7.75/10
Excellent winery to visit for a date or with family! Beautiful view of the vineyard and accomodating! Reasonable priced wine! Staffs are friendly. We enjoyed our stay everytime.
Went on a taste the estate tour today and it was amazing ..soo knowledgeable. Amazingness began in the vineyards and continued all the way to the tastings. Paulo was FANTASTIC...the only downside was that we wanted to book again tomorrow with Paulo as a guide for the chocolate tastings and no one would answer the phone for 3 hours in the wine shop .
Old fashion, very clean, very professional, beautiful location and view. Fantastic food and wines! Workers are well treated here!
Very nice winery. wines were great. Gorgeous views. A must when in kelowna.
Amazing steak! Such a beautiful winery ????????
A little too commercial but good wine, good food.
One of my favorite vineyards, the staff and fun and upbeat. The wine is great and the venue is fun and rustic .
Went here for a special dinner with my wife, had mentioned before to staff. Every table except ours had a candle light. Waited 45 mins for our food and the steak was very chewy. Overall food was subpar. Would not recommend
Very nice place to dine in. Food and service were excellent. Popular place to sat in. Must come early to get seated on the patio or make early reservation to sit inside. Nice view. After eating you can down to the vineyard area. View from there was superb.
Wonderful grounds, had a charcuterie plate and a very nice Pinot Noir
Not my favorite wines. However, the tasting is fun and the views are worth the stop. The service was also great. Make sure to RSVP in order to have your wine tasting on the balcony.
Amazing service. The wine expert for the tastings was knowledgeable and very friendly. The restaurant is a must go to. I would drive from kamloops just to go there for lunch. The corn risotto is perfect and the atmosphere is unparalleled.
Truly an amazing culinary experience. Service was very good and prompt and polite. Ambiance was dim lighting with fireplace yet a contemporary flair. Food, excellent. Tasted fresh and plated beautifully. Staff here, pat yourself on the back for a 5 star experience.
We had an amazing tasting experience with sommelier Mike. He was very knowledgeable and catered the tasting to our preferences. The wine selection is fantastic, and the view from the patio and the grounds is incredible, would come back in a heartbeat!
A group of 4 of us went this weekend (Early November) to Quails' Gate and genuinely had a wonderful time. Our tasting expert, Frances was happy and knowledgeable. Knowing virtually nothing about wine, she made us feel welcomed and taught us the basics of wine. We strongly recommend adding this winery to your tour. Thank you Frances and to the Quails' Gate team.
Food 10/10 we had oysters and they were med size I like xs size better but they were still good. Also has scallops, mussels, and truffle fries ????????risotto and steak everything was great and paired with a nice bottle of wine. We sat out on the patio and the scenery was really nice look at the lake. Would highly recommend to have lunch here Service 10/10 I can't remember our server name but eh was great and had some great recommendations on the menu
My girlfriend was in from Prince George and we went to 2 other wineries that would not allow is to have tastings as we found out that they are by reservation only. We were extremely happy to pull up to Quails Gate winery and we were able to have a tasting right away and bought a number of bottles from my favorite winery!!!!!!!
Loved it so we became members today. Can't wait to sip some more new wines with our friends and family.
Love this vineyard. Great wine but if you are in kelowna you need to stop at the restaurant and grab lunch. Food is great. Make a reservation, go early for some wine tasting and then get lunch. Lots of …
Drove 5 hours to enjoy the second best winery destination in Kelowna. Got very disappointed with the dining experience. Sloppy service, and the restaurant manager walk by without acknowledgement. Server were very reluctant to check in and follow up after serving each dishes. Not as good as I thought from Facebook recommendations. Expect poor service and overprice food.
Kathy at the checkout charged us for three tasting when we spent $150 in wine between three of us. She was extremely snotty and rude and acted like she was better than us. Kathy handled the situation very poorly arguing over $20 In tastings. Having visited the winery several times in the past, I'm very disappointed in our last visit. I have never been more humiliated on my life.
Inquired about getting a table for 2 and was told it would be about 30 minutes. Decided to go to the tasting bar while they took my phone number and said they would text us when table became available. The staff at the tasting bar was great. After 50 minutes I return to the restaurant and they seem to have forgotten us and make all sorts of excuses. Meanwhile many tables are empty and people continue to come and get seated. After 90 minutes with no response I call and ask for the manager- and within seconds I am texted to see the host stand. Be prepared to be forgotten if you decide to taste wine while waiting for a table.
I love this winery but visited during covid for the first time and I wasn’t Impressed with the safety measures... I have visited many wineries in the last 6 months and quails really disappointed me... they don’t have plexi glass installed between the host and customers on the tasting counter, every winery in the lake country does. the host giving the tasting and us didn’t have 6 ft and his mask kept falling off because it was way to big, his mask also had a filter Which is not acceptable to wear at many places as the droplets leak from the filter, and he kept touching it to lift it up every few seconds and then kept touching wine bottles for tasting... very unimpressed...
Out for a special night with family members we unfortunately ended up having the worst possible time. After sleeping on it I can say without hesitation this was the poorest level of service I can recall in over 40 years of dining with a sample size of over 600 meals in restaurants of an equivalent reputation. The gentleman who served us was slow, inattentive to the point we wondered if we had done something wrong. In total we were there 2 hours and 12 minutes but hey who keeps track. A visit for a root canal would have been more pleasant. It took over 15 minutes to get someone to take our drink order. It was 15-20 minutes to get the dishes cleared after starters. For the main course the waiter did not offer salt or pepper (a first), never checked to confirm the meal was to our satisfaction and for the most part avoided us like the plague. Given how positive and attentive every other server was only added to our shame. By the way the food was excellent.
Grab a real pizza in the garden with a bottle of rosé, that's what life is all about!
Always a cool place to go for a drink or snack. Obviously a great selection of wines, but also some decent beer and cocktails. Food is on the fancy side, and you pay for what you get. It is a place to treat yourself or impress guests.
We had a wonderful experience today at Quails Gate winery. Lark was so knowledgeable & so very friendly. I would not hesitate to take our family for a wine tasting tour when they come at xmas. They also had some beautiful pottery on display by Terri Paul.
We had such a wonderful experience at Quail’s Gate. The winery was beautiful, but I will say that Herb truly made our experience memorable. He knew his stuff and he was very attentive. 10/10 :)
Great views and great pizza and wine too
This is a gorgeous place and a definite must stop. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Even though they were booked solid at their restaurant for three weeks, they went above and beyond to find an opening to celebrate my birthday there. The meals that we had were first rate and delicious????. Our server was also kind and more than willing to describe the entrées as most of us had not experienced dining at this level before. I'll definitely be a return customer.
Delightful lunch, perfect meal paired with delicate wines. The pork cheeks were superb with the Pinot Noir followed by Lemon cake and peach sorbet paired with the Reisling Icewine. Together with excellent service and beautiful scenery.
Was really excited to try out the food and wine pairing after reading such great reviews. Went around 2pm and waited about 10 minutes at the hostess stand waiting to be seated. Had to find a staff member and ask if we were in the right areaas there was no staff around. She said there should be somebody there shortly. 5 minutes later another staff came around so we asked him. He said there's only 1 server doing all food/wine pairings and he's quite overwhelmed so it'll be about an hour. He said you'll get better service if you come back tomorrow around 11am. I felt really bad for the server as he has about 6 tables and was doing everything himself. The room was only half full and empty tables were everywhere yet they had to turn ppl away. It was a real disappointment as it looked like an amazing place to enjoy great food and wine however we did not go back the next day and probably won't return. There are way too many other top notch wineries in the area.
Wonderful tasting (Thank you Herb) with breathtaking views. Headed over to the restaurant shortly after for the most incredible dinner. The Bison carpaccio was mouthwatering !
Amazing service! Shane & everyone were incredible. One of the best views ever! Looking forward to our next lunch date!! 2017 Quails Gate Merlot.... Was perfect with the oysters. Yes please!!
What better way to spend the afternoon than lunch at the winery made even more pleasant by having Chris as our server. Everything was great and the bison carpaccio was my favourite followed closely by the raspberry and apricot ice cream and pear cake for dessert.
I know this is really late but me and my girlfriend did a wine tasting at Quails Gate back in early July.. The man helping us was named Jannik? An older Gentleman. We begun the wine tasting solely focused on trying the wines so we can later buy the ones we liked.. I wasn't too thrilled having someone give me details about the wine I can't comprehend BUT, Jannik blew our mind with his wine knowledge and stories and charisma, really changed my attitude during the whole experience and yea even after 2 months after, I'm writing this review so that says a lot. Long story short we got a few bottles right after thanks to his recommendations. I look forward to being back sometime again to see him :)
Anthony is the sweetest best wine tasting host. 11/10 would recommend! Great dude, funny, super knowledgeable and loves to learn more about wine. He’s awesome all around. If we’re back in the Kelowna region then we will special request him.
Pierre is the single best, person to enjoy your wine tasting at Quail's Gate with. The view from property, is breathtaking, and second only to the extrodinary Foch wines! A must visit location. Exceptional job Quail's Gate for a decade running.
My experience was awful... I went with my husband and kids to celebrate my husbands bday. When we arrived all people were very friendly and they accommodated us very fast, we didn’t expect that the wine testing had some cost but when the server arrive whit the wine, he was rude, in a rush, explaining nothing, literally he put wine in our glasses and left, he just came to ask what we were planning to buy. When I answered, he was thinking I was asking for more wine and he replied immediately saying “if you want more wine, you need to pay again”. I clarified that we just asking for a bottle to buy and he left saying nothing, he came back with the wrong bottle asking for our payment method ... when I asked him for the correct bottle, he never came back he sent another lady with the correct bottle. Very rude, unprofessional, cero customer service skills. I will never come back. We make a reservation in its restaurant and we decide to cancel it ...
Stellar views! Totally recommend doing a tasting here and walking around the winery. You can sit on the picnic tables and get a view of the lake.
beautiful setting, amazing wine quality, great restaurant
Great wine and food, awesome customer service, friendly staff, pleasant ambience on the lake. Went there for lunch and I would be back there in a heartbeat. Great selection on food/wine pairing.
Me and my lovely partner had a great time getting to learn about wines with our tasting, especially myself as a novice. We were lucky enough to get paired with our wine tasting guide Jennifer who was so lovely and extraordinarily informative. I would definitely make the trip back for a day of tasting more wines or visiting the restaurant to complete the experience. I look forward to recommending this spot to those in need of a day to relax and explore their wine palate.
Finest dining experience in decades. What a fabulous patio. The staff are incredible and the food was excellent.
Great food with an ambient atmosphere. Definitely try the oysters and take a stroll in the vineyard after your meal.
Good atmosphere! Nice food presenting! Overall is very good and worth the price. I love the duck breast with the blueberries. I would definitely come back to this place again!
Restaurant review: Quails’ restaurant continues to be number 1 in the Okanagan vs about 7 wineries where we have had full dinners. Nice views (like all) but the emphasis is on truly fine cuisine and impeccible service. Reasonable markup on wines in restaurant, unlike several other winery restaurants. Our 3rd visit in 5 years and superb each time.
We stopped by for wine tasting and weren’t disappointed. The person who took us through the tasting, Liza, was phenomenally knowledgeable and engaging. The view of the vineyard and lake is charming. I will have to try their restaurant when I’m back to Kelowna.
Stunning setting and wonderful selection of wine. Fantastic tasting options, we were lucky to talk with Elizabeth who was knowledgeable and fun, but all of the staff had their tasting groups fully hooked into the experience. What a place....and the wine - delicious! All of it!
Incredible views, incredible food (just released new entrees on the menu - Rabbit Gnocchi is a must try), delicious wine, fantastic service. Keep up the great work and hope to be back soon!
Had a bit of an issue last time around, but the management went above and beyond to resolve it. Great place with some of the best wine in Kelowna.
Beautiful winery, delicious wine, got a really nice restaurant too.
Beautiful winery! Stopped by for lunch and the food was fantastic. They also have a great open area with tables to sit and enjoy the beautiful few of the lake. Definitely recommend a reservation as it can get pretty busy.
the tasting here was above and beyond expectations, we had Anthony as our 'guide' if you will. he was smart, funny, and a phenomenal host. when I come back I will for sure wait for him to be free. …
I visited here in September with a group of friends for wine tasting. This was the only winery we visited that asked us to pay before tasting. The cost of tasting, ranged from $15 - 20 depending on the wines you wanted to try (much higher than the standard $5 - 10) was not waived even with a bottle purchase and instead you are given a $10 voucher for any purchases you made. We were not asked for ID when paying for the tasting, but when we wanted to buy all of a sudden they cared about checking. My experience here leads me to believe the winery cares more about profits than providing guests with a good experience.
Wine - very nice. Service - exceptional. From the moment we walked in the door, our hostess treated us like family. We had a great time debating the merits of each wine with our sommelier. The real service came when on our way home by bike after the sun set, our hostess after her shift happened to be drinking the same way. As our bikes didn’t have lights, she offered to drive behind us to our hotel to make sure we were visible to other cars on the highway. Above and beyond, and definitely not expected, but VERY APPRECIATED. Thank you to our hostess and the very attentive staff at QG
Love the location, food and wine. Suggestion for management to install an electric car charger. We drove from Kamloops, stopped for lunch and the. Off to Osoyoos. Would be nice to charge.
Beautiful setting but incredibly disappointed by food, we could have made ourselves at home. Mussels were very bland, the fish was beautifully cooked but really nothing special in taste and plating. Pasta was very nice and fish special was well cooked but again...nothing special. So upsetting, was hoping this would have been a much nicer food experience as the setting and service is excellent.
Lovely winery in a beautiful location, the four wines we tried were fantastic. The tasting is very pricey (I've probably been to over 30 tastings before and this was the most expensive), and the gentleman doing our tasting poured a different wine to what we asked for and were wanting to try. We pointed this out but he only allowed us to try three wines of our choice instead of the four. This is terrible customer service in my opinion. The host also invited people in for their tasting who arrived after us and had a later tasting time?!? After this experience I wouldn't return, but the wines are very nice.
David was lovely and knowledgeable, he really made our tasting experience so enjoyable.
Nice winery on the lake. I bought the wine tasting ticket on the website. I paid $20 for the reserve collection. I got to the winery, and I was standing in line, and the greeter was chatting with the group in front of me. After a while she let them in and walked just by us without making any eye contact. I couldn't believe how she just ignored us. She didn't say hello. She didn't ask why we were there, or direct us to where we needed to go. We ended up walking in, but we didn't know where to go. I walked up to one of the staff members behind the counter and told him how we had purchased tickets for wine tasting, but we didn't no where to go, and how the greeter just walked right passed us without greeting us. He took us back outside and sent someone else to help us. The other lady took us to one of wine tasting counters. I liked their 2017 chardonnay during the wine tasting. The only downside is I didn't purchase it right away because I wanted to see the estate, but when I came back they wouldn't let me back in because their wine tasting room was too small, so I had to stand their and wait. After a little while, I ended up leaving.
A wonderful experience with exceptional service. Very leisurely lunch but attentive server, who insisted on bringing me a fresh order of mussels when I remarked that the ones I received were at room temperature. As others have mentioned, the gnocchi was heavenly.Next time I would request just gnocchi with vegetables: yum! The only jarring note was the loud music; it's such a peaceful setting; the music doesn't contribute anything positive.
Such a friendly and unpretentious winery. Staff offered to watch our dog (who is a medium-large size) while we did our tasting, and let us (dog included) roam through the property and vineyards. A lovely place with excellent wines! Seriously, skip Mission Hill and spend an afternoon here.
We visited recently on our first trip to the valley to taste wine, and found this to be a charming, beautiful winery. The views were stunning. I was very impressed with the quality of the wine, some of the finest I tasted on this trip. I was happy to take some home. I did not try the restaurant but the attention to detail here is excellent, so I would expect the restaurant would not disappoint - I look forward to trying next time.
We had a great experience at this winery. Beautiful building, grounds, and views. The employees were all kind and helpful. Our sommelier was very knowledgeable and made our tasting very enjoyable. He had great suggestions for wines to taste. We ended up going home with three wines we love because of it! We didn't make it to the restaurant but we did have a relaxing walk on the grounds to finish off our visit. I would definitely reccommend this winery.
Beautiful place, food was amazing and the service was top notch. Love the wine
One of the best wineries we visited. Excellent service ! A special thank you to Andre, who presented the wine we tasted, so well with great passion. He spoke to us in French, which was extremely appreciated. Big applause for his service.
I truly don’t even want to give them one star. We were supposed to go there for a tour for my friends stagette. They had confirmed our reservation twice and taken our credit card number to hold the reservation. They said as long as we didn’t wear any paraphernalia we were allowed to come for the tour. Which we weren’t wearing any at all. Thanks to our well organized driver he called ahead to give them the heads up that we were on our way. That’s when he was given attitude and told that they have no record of our reservation. We gave them a call to ask what was going on and they had nothing to say other then they weren’t going to take us in and they were happy that the driver called ahead of time or it would have been really awkward if we had shown up and they had to turn us around at that point in time. How unprofessional. Bottom line I understand if you have a policy but the fact that we confirmed the reservation at 2 different times and they took our credit card number to hold the reservation and then WAIT until we show up to turn us away is just rude and inconsiderate. On the bright side.... we went to Hatch winery. Every wine we tried was great and the customer service was amazing! We also dropped about $700 there. We will be boycotting all Quailsgate wine and our driver will be spreading the word around as well ????????
The picnic tables are a great idea and the views are stunning. The food was absoltuley substandard. The grocery store cost of the vegan food in our take out container was maybe $3.00....nothing fancy in a mini pita bread, 2 tablespoons of plain cooked lentils, 2 small pieces of over-cooked cauliflower, a teaspoon of babaganush smeared on the bottom of the bix for flavor, 2 smaller than golf ball sized felafal, 1 tablespoon of tabouli salad. The restaurant cost was $ 27.00. We would have been better off to go to the onsite market to buy a freshly made and grilled pannini sandwich for $12.00. The rose wine was inexpensive and tasted like any $15.00 grocery store wine. Our group made the best of our vist and enjoyed the stunning views. Then we went home to eat something yummy out of our own fridge because we were all still hungery.
We went there for a romantic dinner. Excellent food and service. Wonderful wine. A really pleasant evening. Highly recommended.
Showed up at 11 to eat at the restaurant. Two other couples were seated. The server asked if we had a reservation of which we did not. She looked on her computer and said we can sit you at 1145. Approximately 50 tables inside and out had no one at them. Walked out glad never bought any quails gate wine and because of this pretension I will refrain from ever buying any wine that is made at quails gate. Customer service at its finest
Everyone has bragged about this place to us so we thought to give it a try. Let’s start with how they never answer their phone. After multiple attempts, we were able to get a reservation for our party of 10. On the day of the reservation since restrictions had been lifted, we requested the hostess to seat us closer to each other. Managers were extremely rude about our request. Poor customer service. Food: 4/10 Server forgot to bring us water and drinks. Overall an ok experience. FOR SURE will not be returning.
The wine pairing lunch was amazing! Great service from Anthony, Alex in the kitchen made an amazing 5 course meal and even the trainee Vito impressed! Would highly recommend! :-)
One of the vineyards along the lake. Open to public for viewing and tasting. Wonderful experience
Out group of seven attended with Kelly as our server for the evening. She was absolutely fantastic! Great food with a beautiful view.
So I visited this place in June for a lunch date, the view was so mesmerizing, the ambience and the wine made our day even special! ???? Great customer service!! I’m allergic to egg, so they made sure whatever was being prepared for me was without egg and took the respective measures! The best part was dessert! Egg free and still yum! ???????????? Had a great time here, will be back!
Scenery was absolutely gorgeous as expected from such a prestigious winery. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I was at the Mission Hill winery earlier and the experience was much more personal.
I really enjoyed my experience here. Started with a very well made old fashion. Follows by a wonderful starter plate. Enjoyed a very tasty wine and both chacutery boards. Cheese was very tasty and the meat one was wonderful with very tasty sweet picked food. Enjoyed the salmon dish which also very well prepared and the side of rice on the plate was delicious. Staff was friendly and engaging. Would recommend this place. Price was up but both portions and taste I believe were fair for the experience. View of vineyard and stroll to beach was lovely.
My friends and I had a great experience of vineyard tasting. I highly recommend this place for anyone!
I had emailed Quails Gate days before arriving to ensure that my group of 6 could drop-in to the tasting room without an appointment. The receptionist advised that no reservation was necessary and we could drop-in anytime between tasting room hours. My group and I were extremely disappointed when the hostess at the front door turned us away, indicating "we would be too noisy" and told us to try The Hatch Winery instead as it was "more for us". We felt extremely discriminated against for being rejected and it started our wine tasting experience in Kelowna on a very sour note. Fortunately, the Hatch welcomed us in with open arms and we were all able to buy our wine there. Just a heads up if you're going with a group.
I don't know why they call it children friendly. They did have a table and chairs for children to sit and color but when we asked staff to give us 1 more piece of coloring paper she looked at us from head to toe and counted the kids again and finally gave us one more paper. If you are planning to visit with children I suggest to take your own coloring stuff with ya, Obviously they don't want to give it out.
Tonight we celebrated a friend's birthday at Quail's Gate. Dinner was absolutely delicious and the service impeccable. Thank you Frederic!
By far the worst BC winery I have ever experienced. Last week I was in Kelowna with my family and friends for my wine themed staggette. One of my bridesmaids planned a tour at Quails Gate, confirmed the booking twice, gave a credit card number to hold the booking, and agreed with a staff member that we would NOT show up with any “bachelorette paraphernalia”. When our tour guide called Quails Gate to let them know we were on our way, he was met with nothing but attitude. Quails Gate insisted they had no record of our booking, and if we showed up we would be turned away. One of my bridesmaids called the winery to clear up the confussion, and she too was met with nothing but horribly rude customer service and attitude. We fully understood that Quails Gate did not want a rowdy bachelorette party causing a scene - this is why we confirmed the booking twice, wore appropriate clothing and planned this as our second stop to ensure we were all sober. This was a huge mistake on their behalf. We were a large group (13) but despite that every other winery we went to showed us the most amazing customer service, so we were more than happy to spend our money at these other wineries; Mission Hill, The Hatch, Little Straw, Volcanic Hills and Indigenous. Quails Gate has lost me as a customer, and I will be sure to tell my friends and family to boycot their wine. Our tour guide was extremely unimpressed, and was sure to let us know that he will no longer be including Quails Gate on his list of recommendations for his future clients.
Beautiful view, and the food was awesome. The portions are large, and the prices are very reasonable.
OMG. I am amazed by this restaurant! Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! I was sooooo disappointed by Raudz that I did not want to try another fine dining and I am sooo happy we have found this place. First off, Michelle, our waitress was soooo great. Gave amazing service and knew lots. She was smart, witty and personable. Suggested amazing 2017 reserve old vines foch from Quails Gate. A must!! Beautiful bottle. We loved it with our food. The food was amazing. It is a must! Must come back especially we just live on top of Quails Gate.
My favourite stop on our wine tour last weekend. Awesome wines and such a neat winery with amazing views & staff! Great experience
Awesome place, great view and staff is wonderful. The wine was not my favourite but the whole tasting experience was very good and I recommend it.
Our meal at the restaurant couldn't have been better! My wife and I went for my birthday dinner and were blown away. It had been about a year since we had last been, and we were reminded what we were missing. The service, food, wine were all exceptional. The friendliness, attention to detail, and obvious pride in doing things right makes this our favourite restaurant by a long shot. It's not something we could do all the time, but for a nice dinner, you can't go wrong! We absolutely will be back. A special thank you to our server Kelly for helping to make it special.
Visited this beautiful vineyard last September and had lunch at their restaurant. Food was delicious. Only compliant was that we had to wait 30 min for a table even though the restaurant was half empty.
Larry was informative and helpful while wine tasting. Beautiful vineyard and restaurant
My wife and I have dinner here for our anniversary the food, wine and staff were excellent and accommodating.
All I can say is WOW. I came here on a whim with my wife and dad for my birthday and this place blew me away. Our waitress knew everything there was to know about the origin of the food (everything possible is sourced locally) and the wines (down to the age of the vines and exactly where in the Okanagan each is grown). Our waitress was the first highlight (thanks Michelle!) and the wines were the second. But the food - oh my, the food! I don't know where they found this chef, but he made some of the most magical dishes any of us have tried in a long, long while. Even the vegetarian options were absolutely first rate. They have a dedicated pastry chef who makes some magic of his (or her) own, with pastries just the right level of sweetness to complement a near perfect meal perfectly. Yes, the meal was expensive, but compared to other top quality restaurants in the country it was easily half the price, and just as good if not better. I highly, highly recommend Quail's gate for the service, food, and lets not forget the ambiance.
Really enjoyed the food & scenery. Service is also really good. Good non-alcoholic options for drinks!!!
We are group of four and had a wine testing here with Mr. Herb. Mr. Herb is knowledgeable with the wines and we surely enjoyed his company. After the tasting we bought couple more bottles and went to their picnic tables and spend most of …
Fantastic menu and ambiance. The staff were extremely friendly and managed to fit us in last minute. The Dessert menu is to die for. Prepare to be speechless several times throughout dinner. In the best way.
Used to be one of our favorite wineries since we first visited in 1994. Unfortunately the commercialism took over and although the view remains amazing, the food is well prepared and served and the wine is good it’s a pricey place to hang out. It’s lost its charm and innocence over the years and become an assembly line operation whether tasting or dining. Best Rosé in the valley, probably best in BC, and possibly Canada.
Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, and very friendly. Her pairing suggestions were great as well. Beautiful location as well. Most of the people in our party were quite satisfied with the entrees, desserts could use a little work.
This place has it right. Probably the most fun Vineyard you will see in Kelowna. You can order wine and pick your own grapes take them to the top of the vineyard and enjoy the view. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. If you have a few places to see this is one.
There should be an option for zero stars. I would not even rate this place 1 star. I am extremely dissappointed in how my group was treated. We were celebrating a stagette and we were excited to come to this beautiful winery. When we called to make a reservstion we were told not come dressed in paraphernalia, which was no problem at all! We were all dressed in summer dresses and were very excited to visit Quails Gate. 30 minutes before our tour our limo driver went to check in with Quails Gate to confirm our wine tour reservation. We were refused to enter and they told us they had no reservation, even though we had already given them our credit card information weeks in advance and we had a reservation email as proof! I am extremely dissappinted in how my group was treated, the staff was not welcoming and gave us nothing but attitude. Very unprofessional especially for such a beautiful well known winery... Rate 0 /5 for stars..
My wife and I went there for dinner last night. Beautiful setting, excellent food, excellent wine, excellent service. One of our favourite places in the Okanagan.
My experience with Quail's gate is based on 1 wine-testing and 2 dinners at their restaurant. First experience wine-tasting was good. They charge $5 fee if you don't buy any wine and waive the fee if you end up buying some wine. I bought a bottle of Pinot Gris and a bottle of Merlot. Based on positive wine-tasting experience we made a reservation for a dinner. Dining facility is very well laid out and the servers well-groomed and charming. The food was tasty and I had two glasses of wine with my dinner. Two hours later I didn't feel well and spent all next day in the bed, and cleansing my system. Obviously I am not a quick learner, since repeated the same experience the following year. BTW I think it was wine, not food. In my opinion, no wine in the world worth one and half day suffering. Since then I pass on Quail's gate winery.
Friendly professional service. Excellant wine tasting protocol, nice restaurant. Loved their property it is beautiful
Busy place. Some staff standing around while others looked overworked. Came by to try some wine but there was no room at the bar and staff wouldn't make eye contact... didn't try to accomdate. Visited about 25 wineries in the Okanagan this trip... only one I walked out not trying or purchasing anything. Only plus was the coloring table for the kids.
This place was AMAZING!!!! Such a beautiful view of the sunset over the mountains, a gorgeous restaurant, and the food was so unbelievably good! I loved, absolutely loved, the fact that there was a vegan menu (other restaurants take note, this place has options!). The vegan cheese plate - to die for. The vegan hazelnut torte with gelato, I’ve died and gone to vegan heaven. This place is expensive yes, but there are few places where I would say Worth.Every.Penny.
The staff here are so pleasant and accommodating. I cant wait to go back. They really make your experience one of a kind with their knowledge about the wine making. I really enjoyed the stories too.
Amazing wine tasting experience with Yannick. I sampled several of the estate's best wines, allowing me to pick out better choices for my home. The restaurant offered an amazing sablefish that was done to perfection.
The location was beautiful and the wine was great. What wasn't so great was the way the man who greeted us at the entrance treated our driver. He claimed our driver did not call ahead for our tasting and then proceeded to treat him as if he was beneath him and was actually strikingly rude. He then proceeded to speak poorly about him to us behind his back which was quite unprofessional . I personally think this behaviour speaks volumes about the integrity of this man and as a result reflects negatively on the winery.
Kind and Friendly service with best wine selection
we were there and had a great time at our wine tasting. Fantastic organization during covid times. Can not wait to come back.
Wow, Amy was our server & she was simply amazing!! Everything our table of 4 ordered was delicious ???? both wines, cocktails and food of course
I haven’t been on a ton of winery tours, but the Fire and Ice tour with Pierre was by my far my favorite. My overwhelming satisfaction had less to do with the wine we were drinking and more to do with the educational and romantic flair of our guide. Most tours I’ve been on have been a sales pitch, but we had none of those issues here. Pierre taught us new things about every step of the wine making process, from our walk amongst the grapes, to the inside of the winery and bottling plant. Pierre is either a genuine lover of winemaking and the winery or he deserves an Oscar for his performance. 5*!
Nice tasting room, very cute on the inside, staff are all very friendly, we had Larry serving for us. He was knowledgeable and extremely nice!! The wines were good, the better wines were slightly over priced for the depth they had. Overall, was still a nice visit.
Second visit to Quails Gate. Absolutely a stunning location. However, the food and service does not match the location. $170 lunch for two was simply not worth the money. Great wine though.
Good wine, good food
I am very disappointed in the staff at Quail’s gate! We were told when we made our reservations that we would be placed at two tables of 4. The lady explained that due to Covid we would be placed 2 tables apart. Our party understood - as we respect the Covid rules wherever we go. However ; when we arrived there was about 25 people in line without any distance between them. They were all strangers. When we got seated, 4 of us got seated in one room and 4 of us in another. Beside our table we’re 2 empty tables spaced out Covid style and so we asked who was sitting there -the response was that it was unknown who was sitting there. I mentioned that I thought it was strange that we would be placed beside strangers that could have Covid when the people we came with in the same car could be placed there-when we know they do not have Covid. The manager replied he hoped that no one has Covid. I replied yes us as well so please put us near our Covid-free party. His reply was that he couldn’t because we would probably mingle. I replied that we would be respectful of their wishes but he wouldn’t budge. We got up and walked out. While I respect Covid protocols set out for B.C. restaurants I was completely taken aback at this ridiculous protocol that was made up. They didn’t care that their line up was a hot mess of random people standing together. There was no one taking our temperature and Not one person asked us for our names and numbers. They would rather seat us with strangers than the company we arrived with?? Absolutely ridiculous! We won’t be going back. To add insult to injury the lady who sat us was rude and clearly unhappy with life. So disappointing
No stars for Quails Gates sales policy for delivery outside of BC. I wanted to have a case of wine shipped to Alberta and was told that I would have to pay BC PST on the purchase price. BC PST Bulletin 302 states that PST does not have to be charged on goods sold to be shipped outside of BC which will not be used in BC. Wine Club member.
Beautiful lakeview tasting room. We took the wine tour last year and came back to get more fortified old foche wine. Even in the cold the biew was stunning and the wine tasting was wonderful but mildly frustrating. So many rich and flavourful reds but you can only get their Stewart family reserves on the estate..we have to limit our selections to fly home ib checked bags.
I have eaten at Quails gate a few times ( it's been amazing) but today, I'd like to leave a different review. Today is my Mom's B-day. Due to Covid, we couldn't be with her. My parents were going to Quails Gate for lunch and I wanted to pay for their meal. Their staff made the whole process over the phone so seamless and were really thorough with all of my requests. They were sooooo good to my parents and made their day. THANK YOU for going above and beyond in making my Mom's birthday so special. We really appreciated it and cannot wait to come up in the Summer ( We hope).
We went on the "taste the estate" tour. The winery is so beautiful and relaxing. Our tour guide was so nice and let us ask all the questions we wanted. The tour taught us a lot about wine history, production and distribution. If we are back in kelowna we will take another tour here for sure!
Brilliant tasting. Mike was really informative and knowledgeable. My S/O and I learned a lot from the experience. Highly recommended.
Heartily recommended. A great end to an afternoon of winery tours that certainly exceeded my expectations. Planning your visit ahead is key to getting the best value from this beautiful winery; and Quails' Gate have the process well tuned to ensure you get the best experience. As always, customer service can make or break the experience - thank you Jennifer for leading the tour and for clearly answering all my questions.
Great experience in the tasting room. Once we were ready to eat at the restaurant close to 4 p.m the hostess seemed annoyed that a party of 7 wanted to have a few tables put together so we could enjoy some appied and wine. The dining room was being set up for dinner which was totally fine, but putting us in the lounge was a real struggle for her.
Our server Amy was amazing! So pleasant, warming and knowledgeable about the menu, both wine and food! It was an exceptional experience!! Highly recommend Quails Gate for a lovely evening!
Beautiful scenery accompanied with great food! The wine tastes wonderful.
Classy place and great wine!
