This Winery is classified in the category of Italian restaurant.
Decent food but horrible service. We visited early in the evening after reserving a table for 2. The place wasn’t …
Warm environment and fantasic food
Great lunch spot; nice wood-fired pizza.
Delicious just like in Italy pizza, generous toppings and great service
Ordered a couple of Pizza's via Skip the Dishes. Pizza Margherita and Genovese were absolutely delicious. Perfect crust, soft and chewy with great flavor from the stone oven. . Authentic with REAL fresh mozzarella and not too salty like most other pizzas we've tried in the area. Exactly what I was hoping for in a pizza. Thank you!
They always seem to have amazing priced promotions randomly all the time. Their wood fired pizzas are what you would hope for. Their pasta is actually the best part and, in my opinion, surprisingly so since most pasta is usually less than stellar by my count. I love it here, the staff is great, and prices are competitive!
Absolutely delicious. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The food was fresh and flavourful. Will definitely be going back to try more!
True Italian restaurant! Amazing food. Amazing people. Just like eating I'm Italy!
Delicious pizza. Period. Make sure to try everything!
We visited La Cucina specifically to try their wood fired pizza. Although the toppings were of high quality and very tasty I was totally disappointed with the crust. It was thin and tasty but limp and a bit soggy - not at all the crispy cracker-like crust that makes wood oven pizza so delicious. Based on that experience I will go elsewhere for pizza.
This is a fantastic new addition to the DTK restaurant scene. Love the giant wood fire pizza oven and the general ambiance here. Had the lunch special - pizza and soup - which is a really good value. Lots of seating for both small and large groups. I'll have to return to try some of their pasta dishes!
Food is always good here!
Great food, decently priced - meals should come with bread, however.
A true gem in downtown Kitchener. Everything we've had here over multiple visits has been exceptional and memorable. Highly recommended
Was sat with a party of three immediately. Ordered the Penne Alla Vodka, and it was pretty great. Friend ordered the gnocchi, which was very fresh and delicious. Waitress was friendly and cordial. The tiramisu was amazing, the best tiramisu I've personally ever had. Would recommend for a date night or a nicer dinner. Will definitely be back for the $14 pasta Wednesdays.
Took a girl here for a first date was great
We went there on a hot Saturday night and the restaurant was not busy. I ordered their special pasta of the day, spaghetti with smoke salmon on a cognac rose sauce. It came out to be EXTREMELY salty and the spaghetti was like swimming in the sauce. The sauce was runny and was not clinging on the spaghetti very well. I know smoked salmon will be salty but that pasta sauce was so salty that I had to wait for the sauce to drip off to eat the spaghetti. My husband ordered a lasagna and it was fine, not outstanding. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Jan 6 2019 - Have dined at this restaurant three times in the past two months --- food and service is awesome. Given they make everything in-house, the food is always so fresh and done perfectly. The pizza is the best I've ever had outside of Italy --- so delicious. 'Erika' is the best server - always has a smile and is attentive and fully knowledgeable about the menu. Will be back to La Cucina again for sure!
The waiter I think his name was Kevin was really nice and welcoming. He gave us a very good experience there and the food was amazing as well!
Very good atmosphere and service. Pizza was tasty - thin crust style.
Overpriced.
Good pizza
First, I get that this is not a vegetarian restaurant, so this review is for my fellow vegans: Went for a work function, and a solid 2 weeks before the organizer informed them that there are 2 vegans attending, one of which has a no oil restriction. The response was positive and the alternative options sounded really good, so I wasn't worried. However, when ordering we advised to the oil restrictions and was met with some apprehension. It was agreed that the chef can do their thing and left it in their hands. What we got was pizza dough with tomato sauce and maybe a handful of cooked veggies on a full size pizza. It looked like our full priced product consisted of the leftovers from our colleagues. Service was good, and I can see why it's popular, but I will not be returning. If you want the experience, do yourself a favor and go to Famoso's instead.
Absolute gem. Best dishes you'll find around, and fantastic cocktails. What a great spot!
Nice authentic Italian dishes. Great pizza. Fish was excellent.
Fantastic service and home made everything. Highly recommend
It's a wine store with not much selection but will get you by for the weekend.
Best italian food in Waterloo/Kitchener. Couple travelling from Australia, we popped by the restaurant and went there many days in a row. We tried pretty much everything on the menu, we felt like home. Pizza chef very friendly and outgoing, i will remember our chats. Try it.
I visited on a Tuesday, which is Pizza night! The service was good, the pizza was good. Sadly, I am very picky with what I like and don't like. They offer many delicious options for their pizzas, but none of them matched my preference. I told our server what I wanted - Red sauce, cheese, pepperoni and sausage. I got exactly what I wanted. And it was very good. But they charged me $13 for the basic sauce and cheese pizza - which is always $13 anyways, then charged me an extra $4 for the two toppings I added - now, not so much of a deal. The server asked if I would be okay with a $2 charge over the $13, which I agreed to, but I was disappointed to see I was charged for two. My suggestion to the restaurant would be: 1) Offer a pepperoni only pizza Or 2) Offer a build your own pizza - everyday you get a cheese and sauce pizza for $13. Increase cost of toppings to $3 for meat toppings, and offer 50% off toppings on Tuesdays. At the end of the day I do recommend this restaurant, but picky eaters beware.
Delicious food, exceptional service.
Nice ambience and great food. Must visit when in Kitchener.
I wanted to try La Cucina in Kitchener as I knew the food was very good at the Guelph location. I made a reservation for Saturday 7 pm. as it was my birthday and my wife and daughter wanted to take me somewhere new. We arrived at 7 pm and there was no one to greet us when we arrived , (where was the hostess?). We waited about 10 minutes and finally someone came to seat us. We were given menus and were told our server would be right with us. We waited till 7:30 and our server said she promised that she would be with us in 1 minute. It was some what busy but I felt that they were very understaffed. She finally came and apologized for the service being slow. We ordered the veal parmagian (tender with lots of cheese and sauce ) and a pizza (perfectly dressed and spiced) which were all very delicious and good portions. The tiramisu dessert was excellent with lots of marscapone and fresh cream, the Americano coffee was perfect, hot and freshly brewed. All in all it was very good food and the decor is beautiful but I was disappointed in the service as it took a very long time to get greeted, seated and served & oh ya, where was the bread? A suggestion to the owner, why would you spend hundreds of thousands $ on a beautiful restaurant and not have a hostess On duty and 1 extra waitress or waiter during busy times!
Great service and we were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. We shared pizza pasta calzone bronzini and enjoyed all
An old school Italian restaurant in downtown Kitchener. Was staying in Waterloo for three day for work, and we found three wonderful restaurants to eat at each day of which this was perhaps the most comforting. We ate the fish of the day, spicy shrimp from the appetizer, gnocchi (perhaps some of the best I have ever had) and tiramisu. They are warm and welcoming, and if I am in town I would go back. Street Parking is a bit of a pain, but worth it for the food!
Great Italian place with a wood fire oven for amazing pizza
It was amazing food, atmosphere and Neil was a great server.
Love this place, good customer service, the best food in town ????????????
Good, not overly expensive. The food sometimes feels a little generic but it's a reliable place and the pizzas are pretty yummy.
Great spot. Lighting up the core! ????
Service was lacking, food was adequate. Expected better
Amazing food, amazing service
Best pizza place in town. Great wine selection, great pasta and apps. Pizza and a beer deal for 15 dollars is a steal between 2-5pm! It’s a big honker of a pie!
I have dined in once and done take out once both times the food and service were perfect. I would recommend this place to everyone!
The best staff and great hospitality
Great first meal out in public since lockdown! Only complaint the calamari was not good
Fantastic! Wood fired pizzas are the best in town!
Our 1st day as residents of downtown Kitchener and we stopped here for our inaugural dining experience. Glad to see the patio was so busy! Drea our server was attentive, personable and very knowledgeable about the menu. She didn't hesitate to make a special request of the chef knowing he'd accommodate. Calamari was very good, would suggest a garlic aioli as an accomanpanment rather than a tomato based one. Our meals were excellent, Paesana Pizza and Veal Parmigiana, wonderful flavours. I highly recommend this place, and thank you Drea for a wonderful dining experience!
Ordered pizza, but it was greasy ????
The best place to have the italian foods in downtown, kitchener. The authentic taste of italian cheese, pastas, and pizzas. Great ambience to have a family getogether.
Smallest lasagna portion I've ever seen. Five bites, almost 30 dollars after soda and tip. Not even a side of bread. If you look at the photo you can see how small the dish is to start with. The portion didn't even touch any of the sides, nor was thick. 30 dollars.
Excellent food service not so great
Went to La Cucina on opening night with a friend. We only ended up ordering a pizza as there was an open buffet but we will be going back to try more. We ordered the Speck E Gorgonzola pizza. It was amazing. Cooked perfectly. Crust was thin just the way I like it and how you'll find it in Italy. When you cook pizza the best sign is having a marbling of doneness on the bottom. This was spot on. Sauce was full flavor and simple. Topped with olive oil and the perfect amount of toppings. The buffet featured a full porchetta with Emilliano's herb and spice blend. You'll find this in a few dishes I've been told but most noticably the Porchetta Panini. Be warned the blend is full of peppers and rosemary. While I like it my friend found the pepper over powering and spicy. He admits his weakness with anything spicy though. On a Panini I think those flavors would mix well and mellow out. I'll be giving it a try in the future. We also had the Crocchetta di patate found on the antipasti menu. Homemade rice balls stuffed with cheese, peas and ragu finished breaded and deep fried. Had many of these. Finding peas was hard pressed but it was a great little snack. Kids would enjoy. I was told the chefs are from Italy. Speaking no Italian. The pizza oven was brought from Italy as well. Wood heated featuring a rotating base to ensure the pizza is cooked evenly Looking forward to going back and trying more.
This place definitely has potential but lacks good atmosphere. We were seated at the back behind the bar/side of the oven, which we understood as tables were full at the front. However, what ruined it for us was that the servers/manager was cleaning the utensils right next to us and basically thrashing them into the cutlery organizer. It was loud and took away from enjoying being out but also funny because how did he not realize how loud he was! They also had large TV's playing a wrestling match, which was weird. Clearly more of a casual spot than we were expecting, so knowing that now it seems ok. We ordered the arrancini for an app, which was really good but not enough marinara sauce to accompany the generous portion size. Obviously, we had to try a pizza and ordered the Spek Gorgonzola and the Penne ala Vodka. The pizza was good but the sauce was extremely salty! That being said, if the salt was reduced it would've been excellent. The crust was thin and the sauce was simple, which is great. The penne was basic. Unfortunately, the meat/fish dishes don't come with pasta as an option and vice versa. Our server was nice and took care of our needs.
Went there yesterday for a birthday dinner! Great quality of ingredients, amazing flavours! We were looking for a quality wood-fired pizza place in KW - we’ve found it now! We had the calamari, the Buffalina and the Genovese - all top notch! Definitely want to go back to try out their pasta!
Great Osso Buco. Extensive menu. Vibrant place
Beautiful atmosphere , great service, delicious food.
Amazing pizzas. Great staff!
Two stars based on disappointing service. Got upsold by the rude and snobby waitress we had on "San Bernardino water" she walked away so fast we didn't have time to process what she was doing. We just want regular free water. BEWARE. Food is just okay. Appetizers are definitely overpriced. Nice atmosphere with friends but wouldn't come again due to unwelcoming service.
Delicious food
Normally great experience. Not today, there are 2 staff and 4 guests (is being a table of 2). The cool had to be taken from a conversation at the bar. He has been there our entire meal. Our server had to ask him to return to the kitchen to finish our order. We were excited to see this place open and have been 4 times. Not sure we will be back.
By far my favourite restaurant in town! From the coffee to the caprese salad .... and the burrata ????... service has always been friendly and personable!
Food is sooo good. Atmosphere very relaxed. Service friendly and attentive. Definitely be back.
Excellent everytime
The pizza was good but not true thin crust
Delicious food, wonderful wait staff and beautiful patio. Their pizza is fantastic, with great toppings and amazing crust. Everything was just about perfect!
They advertise "wood fired pizza" so I was disappointed to see nothing but a big gas flame in the pizza oven even though there was a spot for wood. The place was half full of people but it was very loud as if everybody in the room were shouting at each other. Our drinks came right away but the food took a very long time. I was pretty grumpy when the calamari finally arrived. That is when my mood completely changed. The food was so good that I quickly forgot about all the things I had been complaining about. I don't care how the pizza was cooked because it was the best pizza I have had in KW. The crust was airy and cooked just right. I am looking forward to going back.
Probably the best meal I have ever eaten in kw. Sauce was great. Pizza crust so light I thought it might float off my plate. Bolognese was very good. Canaloni was great. Nice wine. Desserts were super tasty. Atmosphere was great. Waiter was friendly. I don't have anything bad to say about the place.
If you prefer a margherita pizza over pepperoni, go here. Fresh ingredients (the pasta is also freshly made).
Excellent service, Dinner was amazing. We will be back.
Wow amazing food!!! Would definitely recommend for a date night. The pizza was really tasty and the pasta too.
I really enjoyed the place. The pizza and pasta was really good, but for my taste it could of use more flavor. Crust was awesome. They do not have a mushroom pizza. I would def recommend to try.
Good food, a bit pricey so good for company events
Good place to explore authentic italian cuisine, it is busier because there are not much food fired pizza. it is better to have reservation before hand.
I've got so little food for a decent price that I had to go and eat something else too. Go and get a pizza if you're there, the salad and penne combo is not worth the price and won't fill you up.
Wonderful food and decent prices. Pasta was fresh and the half priced wine night was a winner. Not an over the top meal but a cut above for sure.
Delicious food. Great service. I wanted to add that I had the Ossobuco for dinner and it was amazing. I haven't had a plate of food that good in a long time. This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the area.
Had a take out order. 1 pizza, 2 pasta dishes and arancini. The food was very good. The ravioli was to die for. You can tell the pasta is freshly made which is rare for this area. By far the best Italian restaurant in town based on my experience. Also, the prices were extremely reasonable.
Best casual Italian restaurant in Waterloo Region.
Great experience, great food. Would recommend. Service was great and the atmosphere was perfect.
Amazing pizza and service
Expensive. Don't know why sparkling water cost over 4 dollars.
Great tasting Italian foods we had both pizzas and dishes tastes like homemade from the old country
Service & Food was excellent!!!!
I was on my way to a different restaurant ,my GPS was again wrong!!???? so we decided to try this place. O boy!! So happy with our choice. Amazing food, freshly made pizza, baked in the oven, pasta ???? so delicious that makes you feel like you are in Italy. Most of all, the waiter was very knowledgeable and super friendly and nice ????. Totally worth it for stopping by and exploring this place ????
Beautuful food and great service even under Covid my boyfriend is gluten free and they had great choices. 2nd time going there and gets better with every visit.
We had a horrible experience at la Cucina in Kitchener. We were told off by the manager who could not understand we had a reservation. He told us we couldn’t “demand” to be seated where we wanted. I found it incredibly bad customer service. On top of that he yelled at us and completely ignore us when we wanted to make somebody understand we had the right expect good service.
Went there for lunch with a couple of people. The place is nice and the water came super chilled which was good. They left the water canter so you didn't have to try and get your waitress to come back which I thought was good. We ordered the Al Pollo chicken pizza. It didn't look at that appetizing. Some pieces of chicken and red peppers just strewn about and cooked. The middle of the pizza was really soft and runny but the edges was nice and crispy. I was expecting a larger size for the price but nope... not sure I'll go back. The crust was really thin so I don't know why the middle of the pizza didn't get crispy. Waitress didn't really come by so it was good that we already had water at the table.
Delicious Sea Bass, tender Gnocchi in a red vodka sauce with just a tiny kick of spice, all kicked off with a glass of Chianti and smooth & tasty Burrata. Another excellent dinner out - and outside - at La Cucina!
Very friendly service. Always a wonderful experience!
Good. Food was ok. Bug in my wine glass. They just poured another and charged me full price.??
Loved it
Food was really good. Light and fresh. Staff were very friendly. Pizza was also really good but I would have preferred if it were a little crispier. It was messier than expected.
Food and service was great ! Only drawback was the noise level being very loud .
We had an amazing staff dinner here. The food was delicious and the service was superior. We will all be back. Thank you.
Nice place, wonderful and tasty seafood .I'm recommend.
One of the best restaurants in Kitchener. The staff are very friendly and super helpful. As soon as I walked in I was amazed by the atmosphere and plus you will have some of the best pizza ever if you decide to go in.
Great authentic Italian Pizza,Pasta and Antipasto...well priced and attentive server....First trip ,of many
Ordered pasta and pizza from Uber eats and pizza was undercooked and there was likely enough pasta for a child in the dish. Both were cold and just not great. The manager would give us another pizza if we drove to get it and said it was the …
First time at La Cucina tonight and I wish I hadn’t waited so long! Early dinner for two around 4:30. The restaurant was quiet before the dinner rush but by 5:15 many tables were coming in. I ordered a pasta dish and my partner a pizza. With a mouth full of pizza my date said “I wonder if they do delivery”!! We had an exceptional meal, quality service, and FANTASTIC PRICE! For such great food I was shocked at the price - appetizer, two mains and two desserts around $70 before tip (note we didn’t order drinks). The server reminder us that they have daily specials. We will be back soon to check out their lovely lunch deal!
Very tasty food. Ravioli was amazing. So was the pizza and the veal. Amazing drink prices too for a Friday evening. Service was outstanding as well. Very welcoming placewith a cozy atmosphere. Good for families, group events or a nice meal with your partner. Looking forward to another visit. Thank you!!
Excellent food!
Very good service and delicious
Excellent pizza with very good service. Desired wine was unavailable though. Location was convenient. Appetizers were great.
Beautiful experience! Our waitress was really nice and fun (I’m so sorry I forget her name but I think it started with an S) and the service was timely. Beautiful atmosphere, big wine selection, and yummy food! The portions are a bit small for what you pay but that’s to be expected when you’re getting quality food. I will be returning on date nights!
I had the ceasar salad and Rustico pizzette today for lunch, the pizza was great! The salad was good, nothing extrodinary, but good none the less. Good deal for lunch, 13.50 for the salad and small pizza. I would go back for sure. Great lunch spot for the business crowd. Atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Overall great experience.
Amazing food and cozy atmosphere
Great atmosphere food was delicious and great service
Great pizza, could easily share if looking for a lighter lunch. Seemed very popular with groups the day I was there (three the day I was there) so may want to consider going slightly earlier or later to get away from the rush. No problem with service even with groups.
Really nice wood-fire oven pizza. Staff was very friendly and helpful, great experience overall.
Best atmosphere and best food ever. You can see whats being prepared and whats cooking at all time for individuals that say ingredients are not fresh. Friendly and family oriented restaurant. Best coffee and deserts
I would give it a 5 if it weren't for the bad service I got today. I have come to the restaurant 3 times in less than 3 weeks because the food is really good. I have tried the Caprese salad which is my favorite, the balsamic reduction is so full of flavour. The Calzone Clasico is quite delicious. The pizzas are thin and light, the toppings are balanced and the sauce is not heavy or salty. They have by far the best pizza in town. In terms of the service, there are two people who offer excellent customer service. However, today the person who served us today provided the worst customer service that I have ever received. He was impatient in terms of not giving us enough time to decide what we wanted. I would understand if the restaurant was full but there must have been about 3 tables at the most including us. Once we ordered the food, he never came once to ask how the salad or the pizza was. When he brought the pizzas he was very short and dismissive, he never asked is we wanted parmesan cheese or hot peppers. We had to ask for the special hot sauce, which by the way is so flavorful. Needless to say, I didn't leave him any tip. He didn't bother to ask for feedback about his service. He just dropped the receipt on the table and walked away. If it weren't for the quality of the food, I would never go back.
The pizza was awesome, the service not so much, although that might have to do with us showing up rather late.
This place has the good pizza.
Amazing food, friendly staff and a great attention to detail. Will be going back.
What a wonderful experience. My girlfriend and I stopped in for a impromptu lunch and were warmly received. Alanah took care of our every need. The vegetarian pizza was fantastic and the antipasto board was made just the way I like. We will definitely be back in the future. Great place to go!
Take out
All around excellent. Not cheap but worth it for a night out. Vibe is cool but comfortable.
Wonderful experience, strong menu that isn't too busy, great prices and our waiter was quick and easy, and personable. Would reccomend.
Great food, service and daily specials! Pizza is amazing!
Good pizza and great customer service. Was enjoyable even though I only got my food to go.
Neil/Neal our server was great! Food was awesome too!
The atmosphere was so amazing. The service friendly and prompt. The food was to die for. I love that they have a corking license . Honestly one of the best restaurants I've been to since moving to Kitchener.
Loved the food. Fresh quality tastes ring through every mouthful. Cannot wait to go back again. My favorite was pizza
They have the most amazing fresh pizza! Cute little place, and the staff is friendly
My favourite Italian restaurant in Waterloo Region this lovely restaurant does Italian right! With fresh made pasta, wood fired pizza and authentic ingredients everything on their menu is something I love! The worst part of going to this restaurant is having to choose just one of my favourite meals when I want them all.
Terrific food, relaxed atmosphere! Will definitely go back!
I just visited last night and had a great time. I ordered the calamari, Rustica pizza and the Margherita Pizza. Let's get the 'critiques' out of the way as there are not too many. The calamari was very overcooked, salty and bland and the breading was falling off due to it. There seemed to be no other seasonings but salt on the calamari and the chewy rubbery texture led us to be a little sceptical of the impending quality of the meal. The server we had was fantastic but I was a little upset at the offers he made to us, while sounding like free options, actually charged us extra on the bill. For example, upon seating we were offered "spring, chilled, or sparkling water". I opted for the sparkling only to find out there was a charge associated with it. He also offered to add prosciutto to my pizza which I happily accepted, once again ended up on the bill. Now onto showering them with praise for what they did well. The server was amazing! He came at the most perfect times and asked if we needed anything. I had just put my empty beer glass down and within seconds he had asked if I wanted another. He also made good small talk but didn't make us feel crowded with his presence. Kudos to him for sure. The pizzas were divine. The toppings were delicious and the crust was so flavourful. Cannot recreate the taste of a wood oven. I personally like my pizzas with more snap/crisp but this IS a classic neopolitan place so they are definitely doing the job right haha. Its just a matter of preference. In conclusions, the food is amazing and so is the service overall. With a little bit of transparency during the conversation with the server and a little refining the appetizers, this could easily be a five star. Probably still my favourite gourmet pizza place in Waterloo and would recommend everyone at least give it a shot.
Really nice, traditional pizza Margherita with quality ingredients and great service.
Pizza and service was amazing
Love love love this place. Everything is amazing.
By far the best calzone I had in Canada. This used to be my favorite pizza back home, near Italy, but I couldn't find anything as close until I tried la Cucina's. The cannelloni were ok (but not as good).
Their Margherita pizza was great.
Great food!! Really like the pizzas here !!
Tasty food and good atmosphere
Excellent food!
One of my favorite restaurants in the region ! The fresh past in simply the best I had here in Canada ! The sauces are just perfect ! Portions are not too big and not too small, and really great price - keep an eye for the daily specials, they have a special every day , making prices even better! Pizzas are amazing, crust, sauce and topping, all in perfect portion. They have some different topping as well, f you want to try something new. The nicest staff every time I go.
Best wood fired pizza in town! The pasta does not disappoint and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting
Had the most amazing experience at their patio! Wife and I were excited to go out and La cucina was the perfect choice, they have the greatest pizza we ever had and fantastic service Their patio is well arranged and very comfortable :)
Great service and delicious food!
Great food and atmosphere. food came out a little slow today, which is not normal.
Food and service as great as always. Great, simple Italian food made with good ingredients.
A group of us went for dinner after work and the food was fantastic! I had the penne, which could have used a bit more spice, although it was cooked very well. Next time I want to try the pizza because it looked amazing. ????
Downright tastiest pizza in Kitchener. A real taste of authentic Neapolitan style pizza. My only possible complaint could be the serving size for the price but it's quite apparent just when you bite into it that everything you're eating has poise and purpose when contributing to the profile and flavour. It's utterly mouthwatering. It's money well spent if you want a nice comfy and delicious dinner date. Definitely would recommend whether you walk in or order online. ONE suggestion I would have for La Cucina is to make beverages available for order on Doordash and/or Skipthedishes.
The desserts here are amazing, particularly the chocolate ones.
It was ok but I doubt we'll be coming back. Menu is a little limited, server didn't seem very knowledgeable and the service was SO SLOW. Had a salad and arancini to start, it was ok. Had a kind of pesto chicken pasta and it was kind of bland and everything was overcooked. Greens in the pasta were mush. Decided we were going to skip dessert and waited forever to get our bill. Much better options for Italian and pizza very close by. Pretty disappointed, we were really looking forward to going here.
Beautifully refinished since it's become La Cucina. The staff could use some more knowledge but Im sure that will come with time. Amazing half price bottles of wine on Thursdays. Not many vegetarian options but you can find one or two things.
Excellent food and service! Was so happy to see Neil and old friend.
Good Neapolitan style pizza but very expensive for the size. For the price I paid I would expect a medium to large pizza instead of personal sized one. Edit: the reason for the 3 stars is also because of the terrible experience I had the first time where the basil was burnt to a crisp (yes, I know what leopard spots are)
Incredibly authentic Italian food. You won't find better
Our meal was amazing and our waiter, Neil was outstanding. We will definitely be back. The flavours and freshness of our entore meal was incredible. Kudos to the chef and team at La Cucina
Really nice spot for lunch. Ravioli was amazing. Make sure you try the Cappuccino as well.
One of the pizza places in town. The pizza crust was delicious. Great tasting food and a friendly staff.
Great place to eat, amazing servers. Was NOT disappointed.
The lunch special was a great deal. All of our meals were delicious and the service was great!
Food is amazing!!! Price is good!
Great service, but mediocre food. Pasta and lasagna we're bland and uninteresting. There are better woodfire pizza options in the region. Definitely doesn't warrant the prices.
Service is a bit slow and not very attentive. My food (gnocchi) was good but the other items ordered were so good. Prices are also higher than they appear online which is annoying since I looked at the menu ahead of time and came to see everything was 0.50-1.50$ more.
Bad customer service. They didnt even recognized us. They ignored us and recived the order from the other person who came after us. very disappointing. Will not recommond this restaurant. Thanks for runeing our evening.
Best pizza in the region
I've been to La Cucina twice and really enjoyed both visits. They have the most authentic Italian pizza in the region. I wish they didn't have TVs though. TVs are for sports bars. They're entirely unnecessary in a serious restaurant that people visit for the quality of the food.
This was our second time eating at La Cucina with my family and all I can say we had a great time and pizza blew us away how good it looked and tasted .I would highly highly recommend La Cucina to everyone awesome people and awesome service.
I haven't been to the new location enjoyed many good meals at the old one!!
Had their pizza a couple of times. Probably the best pizza in the region
Best gluten free pasta I've had at a restaurant in YEARS! Amazing service putting the customer first :)
The server was incredibly nice! Food was a bit expensive but there's discounts you can take advantage of. It was delicious too
The pizzas here are amazing! I also had the calamari appetizer, the best I have had in a long time!!! Their tiramisu is also excellent! The only thing I could complain about is the portioning sizes for their pasta... My first time going here I ordered a pasta for dinner, which I was able to finish in under 5 minutes. I was disappointed that I was still VERY hungry after... As if I hadn't eaten anything. I could have easily eaten 3 of their pastas. In order to rectify this, I had to order another whole entree, which I was not happy to do since this restaurant is on the pricer side. However, I ordered a pizza as my second meal, and it was excellent! Even though I had eaten a whole pasta, I was able to eat 3 quarters of the pizza. And the pizza even tasted WAY better than the pasta, that I found a little bland. Lesson learned, if you have a healthy appetite... You are far better off ordering a pizza, as you will get so much more for your money. And in my experience, the pizzas taste way better, they are just superior all around! ????
Amazing food !!!!
I may be biased because pizza napoletana is one of my favourite styles but this pie was incredible. …
Never dissatisfied or disappointed. 10/10 one of my favorite restaurants in town. Their lemoncello tartuffo is to die for .
My favourite spot to get pizza. Amazing service, high quality ingredients and delicious fresh food. A great spot to dine-in or takeout.
Friendly and accommodating staff. Enjoyed the pizza. Loud if you're sitting in the middle of the restaurant
Impressed :)
Vegetables on pizza were hard and dry - definitely not fresh. Menu is overly complicated and you’ll find yourself googling most ingredients. Service was nothing to write home about either. My friends salad also had extremely dry chicken.
AMAZING!!!!
Just moved to Kitchener in November enjoyed my first meal at La Cucina this evening. All I can say is you know a place is amazing when you walk out wondering how soon is too soon to go back. Pizza, pasta and service 5 stars all around, going to have dreams about that bread and the pizza crust.
Tried this place for the first time and i was not disappointed it was a beautiful restaurant the food was delicious and the server was super friendly can’t wait to come back again
I had a great home made pasta with incredible tomato sauce. My wife loved her night special fettuccine shrimp and asparagus. And an amazing pizza for my kids. I loved it. I'll definitely come back.
(Translated) Fantastic eggplant parmigiana and very good scarpariello pizza! (Original) Fantastic parmigiana di melanzane and very good scarpariello pizza !
Great wood fired Pizza and homemade pasta.
Always happy with my food and the service
It's been a looong time since I was able to sit in a restaurant, and the wait was worth it. The Paesana pizza was untouchable in terms of taste. Bravo La Cucina!
Everything on the menu is always perfection! Absolutely LOVE the pizzas and definitely ordered a few too many over quarantine. Amazing place for a cute date night!
Food is amazing and priced fairly but by far what makes this place awesome is the service. Never in my life have I had such a good waitress. Super attentive and knowledgeable. Will be going back for sure !
The layout, atmosphere, service, is a 5 star! The pizza sauce was a little watery making it messy and soggy. Food is a 3.5 but to be fair they just opened. l will give this place another try and update my review.
Excellent restaurant with a wide variety of freshly-made pizzas. Licenced to serve alcohol.
I absolutely love this place! I have been to Rome a few times, and I promise you the pizza, pasta and wine are all better here! It’s like a mini escape to Europe every time I go. The staff is courteous and friendly, the food is always incredible, and I’ve always had a great time! This is a hidden gem where I take all of my out-of-towners to!
Great authentic Italian! They have their own pizza oven and a nice wine selection.
Very good pizza.
Not the best wood fired pizza in the region, but still worth visiting.
I initially heard about this place from a somewhat biased review in the Kitchener Record. After reading it I was convinced the reviewer was a bit of a snob and that I should give the place a try for myself. I had the cannelloni, a beer and the creme brulee dessert. The service was good, the food was well made, and very filling, and overall I enjoyed the experience with my group of friends. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Great looking restaurant, huge bar, and fantastic food. Recently went here for a work party. Kevin our server/ culinary director had exceptional suggestions for drinks and food, and the pizzas were unreal. Hint, whenever you see a huge built brick oven behind you, order the pizza. Food came out fast, and even the bathrooms were very clean and updated (which is a tell-tell sign). Prices were very reasonable for the high quality of food. Would definitely return on my own date night!! 5 stars, I would change a thing about my visit. Fyi this was a friday night, if that helps.
Good food and friendly service.
The best and chef can accommodate many tastes!Fantastic
Love the food. Quick lunch menu as well!
Loved it! Great food. Great service!
Always good, fresh ingredients and reasonably priced.
Best Tiramisu I have ever had.
Amazing food..great ambience..had the lamb chops and a pizza with chicken...was awesome.
Soooo good ???????? 2nd visit disappointment...not only did I have to wait almost 15min to get recognized but my pie that was ready for 6pm sat out ...while I stood there not being served. When I was finally asked am I being served i gave the server a $20...she says do you want your change? This I found to be rude & disrespectful. Give me my change and then ill decide if I want to tip you. I understand we are in tough times, that staff maybe a little rusty...but that was not cool!!
Visited for the first time on 28/12/2019. Was absolutely delicious and surpassed expectations. Hands down our new favourite pizza spot. Will definitely be back.
"Location, location, location". At La Cucina its all about Ingredients, Ingredients, Ingredients! I'm quite a picky guy when it comes to authentic Italian food and, honestly, Bruno and his staff are doing a great job. Last Friday it was my first time at La Cucina, and I will certainly become a regular at that place. I've tried their Pizza Margherita and it was awesome! May sound like a joke but the few ingredients that goes on a Margherita is actually a challenge for the pizzaiolo to get a well balanced result. Starting from the flour (they are using one very of the best, Caputo!!!!), and Italian tomatoes, and good cheese, and fresh basil, and good olive oil, and an excellent wood-fired oven! Last but not least, their drinks... one of the best Negroni in KW.
Tasty and fresh authentic Italian fair with homemade pasta and pizza made in wood burning oven. Usually busy at lunch and limited parking in the area. The service is great and fast. The bruschetta is a must try! Limited vegan options and not very flexible with customizing menu items.
This is my first and last time visiting La Cucina. As a bartender in the industry, I was disappointed with the service I had received. Don't get me wrong, the food was mediocre at best. However, I went in with my partner on a Thursday for lunch. It was not busy. Our waiter(Neil) treated us like an inconvenience and failed to quality check our apps and entrees. Our appetizer was cold in the middle (arancini balls). Our mains were underwhelming for the price that we paid. Not to mention the sanitation policies with Covid were not followed. Having an open concept kitchen means we can see everything that takes place behind the scenes. The pizza bar staff were not wearing masks, on their phones and kept touching clothing, face etc, without washing their hands. This is a big no.
Boyfriend and I split a pizza and the gnocchi. Pizza had good flavours but had a soggy bottom which is disappointing. Gnocchi was just OK - nothing special. Overall food was good but not worth the price.
An accessible restaurant with delicious food. Much of the pasta is made in house. They don't have a kids menu, but they did bring a colouring book and crayons for our son to enjoy, so I would classify them as fairly kid friendly. There's no parking directly on site, but there's plenty of on street parking and parking lots/garages around downtown.
I was hoping for something more maybe but I didn't find anything that good. Was looking for a good cheesy pizza especially one from the previous google reviews (the mushroom-cheesy one) but they don't have that on their menu. Apparently that was on special order that time and couldn't make something like that. We had a couple of cocktails $8 special on Friday which weren't that great either. So overall okay but wouldn't go again.
Amazing food !!!! It made me feel like I was back in Rome
Stopped here for the evening. I had the house merlot (reasonably priced, absolutely delicious) and my sister had the spritzer (very fresh!). We shared the Montanara pizza and cannelloni - both were astoundingly delicious and didn't leave us feeling heavy. You can see the fire oven from any spot in the restaurant, which adds to the feel of the place Service was very attentive and kind, music was appropriately themed and low enough for conversation, and ambiance was welcoming. Bathrooms are up quite a few stairs, but accessible bathrooms are available. Certainly recommend.
Best pizza hands down!!! Amazing service!!
Had a great meal at La Cucina. Loved their handmade pasta. Everything was so good and so fresh. It really satisfied this preggo's pasta craving!
Number one veal. Too big for a sandwich, it's succulent and tender. I had it with pasta it was super-fantastic
Everything was good. They have the Italian beer Moretti on tap and fresh made pasta. I tried some pizza and pasta both were delicious.
Highly recommend La Cucina! Food is always on point, and service is awesome. My personal favourite menu items are the Caesar salad, with a wood fired margarita pizza. Be sure to order a side of the chili oil to dip your pizza with - it's SO delicious!
Food was delicious, service was proficient abd the price was right. What more can you ask for?
Food and service were both excellent!
Good food. Order was screwed up twice for dine in. We sat as a family and didn't get to eat at the same time.
Amazing pizza!! Prosciutto and truffles, wow! Salami and ricotta - my favourite! Delicious veal. Great experience!!
This place was recommended by a co-worker and deservedly so. My friend with whom I went there yesterday personally said it was the best pasta she's had, and the location and prices were easily additional highlights.
This place has the best thin crust pizza in the city. I highly recommend eating here.
Went in for the first time today around 130pm and was amazed with the place. Everything was great from the food to the service. I wish I remembered our servers name because of how amazing he was. He was hostessing, bartending, cleaning and more all by himself and did a fantastic job. As a server I know how tough it is sometime to manage everything but everything was top notch and I will definitely be back.
Best Pizza in KW region.
Tasty unique style of pizza
Nice pizza/food!
Super tasty food in downtown Kitchener.
Probably one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant in KW. We ordered the burrata and what the waiter slammed down on the table without a word looked massive-they have two sizes but we had ordered the small. We tried to flag the waiter over for about 10 minutes to no avail...there were maybe four other tables in the entire restaurant but eventually just decided to dig in and hoped a waiter would know better than to serve a 22 dollar appetizer to two people. I have had quite a few burrata before and I have to say I'm not sure I can ever eat one again. It was jiggly and unappealing when he threw it on the table and upon cutting it was so runny/soft that it spilled onto the serving plate. It dripped off the crustini and had an acrid taste that just seemed off and literally had no seasoning...very odd. The waiter eventually took it away without bothering to ask if we enjoyed it. We got the parna pizza which was fine- lacked seasoning of any kind but was cooked ok. The one redeeming point was that the waiter did change the burrata charge to the small when we questioned the bill. Overall the service was bad and the food was unappealing...we will not be back.
My server was friendly and my Calzone was soggy and had puddles of liquid on it. I enjoyed the Guelph location when I went but I will not attend the Kitchener location anymore. I wasted my $ that evening to be sure.
Environment was great, food was even better. I will be telling my Italian grandparents to visit, as well as my other family and friends.
Great Italian food. Great service!
Excellent service and excellent menu.
Food was ok. Customer service was extremely poor. Felt like the waiter had no interest in taking the order and was making faces when asked to help with the information on food items on the menu. Would never recommend this place unless you are in a mood for experiencing bad customer service.
Meal type
Very nice meal. The pizza and wine were deliscious and the service was good too!
Love the food and cappuccino! Only recommendation would be to serve a little bread with appetizers.
Dinner
Finally had a chance to stop in and it was delightful. Staff was knowledgeable with wine pairings, quick and extremely polite and pleasant. Dreah, one of our waiters, was very sweet. Decor isn't want you'd expect from a pizzeria, very sophisticated while still having a rustic Italian feel. The gamberi alla diavola (tiger shrimp in a spicy tomato sauce served with fried bread) is an absolute must. It didn't have too much heat and was very flavorful. Bread fried to perfection. Calamari fritti tastes fresh and has a light breading while still being crispy. Probably the best calamari I've had in kitchener! Pasta dishes were also delightful with fair portions. Their dessert menu has lots of must tries as well. My only regret was that I didn't come here sooner. Looking forward to coming back and trying everything else!
Amazing authentic pizza. Super friendly staff and incredible atmosphere, we'll be back!
Fantastic lunch experience. Delicious, fresh passata sauce on the pizza. Slices you can fold Napolitano style. Welcome to DTK! :)
Proper Italian pizza!
Wood-fire baked pizzas here are delicious. Coming in at lunch is great, and even if you have a meeting at 1 PM you can get in and out comfortably within the hour.
Wonderful atmosphere, the food even better and the staff go above and beyond! Must try!
Amazing food
Great pizza but can't believe they would take an order of 40 pizzas on a Friday night and not be able to make pizza for anyone else. Order from here regularly as I live down the street but this is disappointing and frankly bad business. Sorry la cucina this is a 1 star deal
Fantastic pizza, desserts and service
Good place, good service, Really nice pizza!!!! But was a little slow on a service for me. But anyways, really good place
Great food, 10/10 quality and fresh ingredients! Although the big screens did take a bit of the ambiance of the place, I'd recommend anyone looking for a nice dinner in Kitchener
A really nice pizzeria. Good burrata and branzino. But if you come expecting the same thing as La Cucina in Guelph you will the disappointed. At the Kitchener location, the menu is less gourmet and the ambiance is not nearly as nice as in Guelph. That said, Kitchener seems to be one price point lower than Guelph as well.
We ordered CALZONE CLASSICO with green salad as a side and SCALOPPINA AL LIMONE. The overall taste and portion were decent, but we waited for 40+ mins for our food. There were no salt and pepper shakers on the table and the waiter didn't offer freshly ground pepper either; Even though SCALOPPINA AL LIMONE had a tasty sauce it could have been better with extra salt and pepper. Their menu mentions that SCALOPPINA AL LIMONE comes with roasted potatoes; but we got mediocre fries instead. Other than hot sauce they didn't offer any dips to eat with the plain dough pizza edges or salad dressings.
Great Italian place. Authentic and good.
Great food and drink.......
Amazing! Like being in Little Italy. I had the Antipasto for 1 ( the homemade pork roast will delight) and a fresh pasta. Kevin, my server, worked the floor like a star, and true professional. Highly recommended.
Tasty, and friendly service
Amazing wood fired pizza - you gotta try it.
The Genovese pizza is amazing...and gnocchi was also excellent.
My Penne Arrabbiata was delicious, the best Arrabbiata sauce I've ever had. Very hospitable staff. Great interior atmosphere. The quality of the dishes I've tried has made this my favorite restaurant for pasta.
Pretty great food. Fired pizzas. Good serving sizes. Clean environment and clean decor. Good selection of beers at the bar as well.
Very good
Really nice staff, fair prices and very delicious pizza. All the ingredients are good quality and the dough, tomato sauce, olive oil, is fantastic.
First time we were there for my bday last year, everything was great. But today we waited for some time until staff actually acknowledged us and then prepared a table. Both pizzas we ordered were burnt on the bottom. They cancelled one pizza on the bill and offered free deserts.
Dinner
Excellent food, excellent staff.
Im trying real hard to support our local restaurants but I just paid $47 pre tip for a margherita pizza that had 2 wilted basil leaves and the tiniest portion lasagna ive ever seen at an italian restaurant (no side bread either). Taste was ok, value is way off. I may try a second time. Im hoping they can do better.
Very tasty place the food is great
Service from Erica is always top notch.
Nice balanced menu, great food
The pizza was amazing!!!!
I’m inspired by this lovely restaurant with amazing staff and excellent cuisine. Will be coming back. Keep up the good work
You want the best food, order here, yummy yum
Great place to eat.
Great pizza. Wish I had more ????
Everything is great here, fast service, amazing crust, great atmosphere.
Real Neapolitan style pizza mmm
Nice place, quiet on a Tuesday, but that's to be expected. I had the wood-fired pizza. Lots of options to choose from, all equally intriguing. I choose The Parma. Ate every bite.
Dine in
Pizza is simply unreal
Nice and tasty pizza. The tomatoes they use is really something unique, and tasty. The pizza is authentic and definitely worth the prize. We are vegetarian and hence tried the vegetariana and margarita.
Lovely atmosphere, attentive service and good desserts in a downtown Kitchener, King street location.
Great food
We went here at 430 on a weekday There were two tables occupied by customers and we were promptly seated right next to a table of 4, so we asked for the table next to it... To have some spacing? This gap was filled 15 minutes later to make the atmosphere crowded for whatever reason I could never fathom. Portions were gastronomy sized and tepid I could understand the miniscule portions if this was a high end establishment, but this is your run of the mill Italian restaurant where a generous portion is expected. To top off this wonderful experience we had to ask for bread after our entrees were served, recieved bread that was cold. When asked if we enjoyed our meal we responded with being disappointed with the bread being cold. The response was "we only serve bread with certain entrees, and I'm not sure when the cook made it" Is this eluding to day old bread? Both plates, ravioli & shrimp spaghetti were sub par at best
Great food
Awesome food and customer service. Loved the place.
The food and service here is incredible! Will definitely be back- many times!!!
We have been here several times since the easing of Covid restrictions. Wonderful place to go. Good food, good people
Nice atmosphere and staff, a little pricy but nothing unreasonable for the quality.
Dropped by around 9 pm on a Saturday. They had live music with a lovely patio setup. Covid distancing was perfect on the seating. Service was lovely (as for Neil! He's amazing!). Had the 'al pollo' chicken pizza...... utterly fantastic with homemade hot sauce on the side, along with a aperol spritz and then a cappuccino afterwards. Everything was 10/10, and the price was very reasonable too. Would recommend for a date if you're looking to have an enchanting time.
Good service good food
Great food, try the gnocchi!
Service
Totally awesome food. You do get what you pay for....
Food was tasty and service was excellent. We went on $12 pizza night and felt the price was right.
Very relaxed ambience, with a decent selection on the menu and good deals on lunch. We ordered pizzas, and the freshness of the ingredients was noticeable in the taste. Friendly staff as well. Would definitely visit again.
(Translated) Delicious pizza ???? (Original) Delicioso las pizza ????
Went for supper last night and the experience on the patio was very good! The wood fire pizza and calzone were the best we ever had! Definitely will be going back!
Food "Pizza" was great. First time here. 9:00 Saturday night. Was told at the door they could not serve pasta after 9:00 but pizza was good till late. We order a salad , App. And pizza. Had to change our order to literally only pizza. I know it's not hard to make salads. Service was good. If your open till 11:00, serve food till 11:00. Pizza saved the experience.
Absolute the best tasting house-made pasta ... best Italian restaurant in town
Wood fired flat pies. A variety of other menu items in a cozy space downtown.
Delicious wood fire pizza!
If you're looking for an amazing, gourmet pizza dining experience, look no further!! They have a delicious selection of pizzas to choose from that will leave you planning your next visit.
Very disappointed by the quality of the food tonight. We ordered take out that was 10 minutes later than promised. Food was impossible to eat, pizza was cold and past was bland. Will not be back again.
The food here is very good and affordable. The staff are all very kind and welcoming. Overall great place to eat lunch or dinner.
Best place I’ve been to! Great food, amazing service, overly welcoming. 10/10 recommend!
Good ambience. Great food and the service was excellent. Will definitely be coming back again.
Quality of food and service is very good here. Great lunch spot.
Best Italian food in KW. Can't go wrong!
Amazing Italian Food! Have visited 3 times and every time the meal was fantastic. Love the gnocchi!
Love this place. Very affordable prices for nice authentic Italian pizza.
Always a great spot for a meal!!!
Excellent wood fire calzone! Great spot.
Excellent food and service!
We went on a busy Saturday evening but got in without a reservation and without much wait. Service was very friendly. Good selection of beers and cocktails. Great polenta-mushroom appetizer special and delicious pizza. Really nice garden salad and caprese salad.
Excellent Food and the brilliant staff of La Cucina made this a very special evening.
A lot of hype over authenticity and the like. However, the food itself is just ok. You're going to pay quite a bit for the experience, and the food itself may or may not match that depending on where you set the bar. Would recommend sticking to their pizzas and calzone.
Aniket makes a killer ceaser. best pizza in town ????
Great food and great customer service!
Excellent authentic pizza.
i had pasta and it was just good enough maybe i have to try something different.
I have been to this nice italian restaurant twice. The other night I was sitting at the bar for their cocktails special and Aniket the bartender there made the best espresso martini ever, he further elevated the experience by making a different version of it for the second time. Would recommend this place for fine food and amazing drinks.
Really great food, great service. I really like this restaurant and if you like Italian food too, you'll love this place. Try the veal or lamb
Prosciutto and gorgonzola pizza is ????????????
Had to order through a 3rd party app this week but our 3 pizzas (Parm, Gorgnozola and Margherita) were individually boxed, hot and delicious.
Authentic sounding menu. Had the porchetta sandwich. Being born in and having lived in Italy, I know what great porchetta tastes like, and this definitely underwhelmed. It needs to be more thickly and unevenly cut, lots more rosemary, and extra salt and pepper. This was clearly not freshly made, but had been refrigerated and then reheated, as the pork fat had that lard taste. I'd die for a freshly made one, like the one made in Ariccia, which is famous for Porchetta.
Been roughly 5-6 times, it's always been good but this night it was amazing.
Excellent food and service. Authentic Italian wines and various options of food!! A must try
Delicious! My dining partner and I split the gnocchi, orecchiette, and a vegetarian pizza. (We were hungry!) All three were excellent. We found the atmosphere very laid back, and unpretentious. Our server was very helpful with suggestions, and attentive. We would definitely go back! My only suggestion: lose the giant TV screens in the middle of the restaurant, as they were distracting.
Loved it! Delicious pizza and the caprese was on point. Ripe tomatoes and big slices of proper mozzarella ????????
Meal type
Great food good service nice selection of Italian wine available by the glass or bottle
Excellent food and service
We went in on a Thursday. No reservation. The server was very friendly and sat us down right away. Bonus. It was half price wine bottles. We had a shiraz. It was very delightful. We started with the buratta appetizer and couldn't skip …
Very good service and amazing meatballs and pizza.
A true rare one in downtown Kitchener. Everything we've had here over multiple visits has been fantastic - very recommended
I attended the Grand Opening Party, the food was fantastic! Everything is authentic and there is a decent selection of wine as well. La Cucina has a great atmosphere. Being at La Cucina you almost forget you are downtown Kitchener.
Molto buona! An excellent Italian menu. Our take out Veal Parmagiana was superb!
Authentic Italian food
Not the kind of person to write a bad review about a restaurant so let’s start off with the good. The vodka and bolganese part were both delicious but the takeout portions were absolutely tiny ! Dine in for $24 was a fantastic meal , but take out for the same price was maybe a a 6/10 for portion for the exact same item. Absolutely hate writing a bad review but for what it is worth your take out should be something work perfecting at this moment. Try to match the delicious flavour with the normal portion dine in experience with your take out menu. Would definitely make me change my mind about coming back. Quality is absolutely rock solid but quantity definitely needs that GIANT jump to continue to be an outstanding Italian diner in Kitchener Ontario. Hope to dine here with family and friends with post changes. Best wishes.
Delicious!
Delicious pizza. Tv's can be distracting.
I got the pasta special and the shrimp was a bit rubbery. Overcooked I'm guessing. Other meals at the table were good. Due to COVID our reservation was for 90 minutes, which is fair, but felt rushed.
Delicious food, attentive service and a great atmosphere. Sat at front window, which they had open so a beautiful breeze came in on a wonderfully warm summer evening. DELIGHTFUL ????
Great Pizza and fantastic setting. Great destination restaurant in downtown Kitchener.
Awesome food and service...
The service was wonderful and their lunch special with a 7" pizza and salad was great! The price point was a bit high ($10 for a 6oz glass of house wine) but it will likely cater to a different crowd downtown. I'll be back!
I am blown away with the quality of the ingredients and how everything effortlessly came together in each of the dishes we tried. Each bite was an explosion of flavor. Fresh in house made pasta, stone fire pizzas and decadent desserts - …
Great veal Parmigiano and Thursday special was 1/2 price on bottle of wine.
Nice place to eat. Atmosphere was cozy and the service was good. I had the pizza which the dough was very light but filling. Little heavy on the oil on top. Would go back again
The pig... Great food
Service is just as important as the food and in this case the service was disappointing. The first time I went for a dinner with friends, the waitress made us uncomfortable with her rude demeanour. The second time, I had just ordered a pizza which was sub par and again the service was ridiculous, rude and unwelcoming. I will personally never go back again.
Delicious pizza and tiramisu. Lots of in-house ingredients and excellent service. They should get rid of TVs to improve atmosphere.
Best Napo pizza in KW!
Fine dine in
Great food and great service. Can't wait to go back.
Amazing staff and even better food. Service is great. Fresh and authentic italian. Cozy restaurant vibe and a great place to go with friends or family. Try their wood fire pizza, definitely the best in KW.
The food was just okay.
First time coming here yesterday, and it's pretty safe to say I'll be coming back soon. The experience was so perfect in every way! Our waitress, Alannah, might have been the best waitress I've ever run into - she was so friendly, cheerful, perky and knowledgeable! The kitchen also was great for accommodating me when I needed it (I'm an extremely picky eater)! And the food me and my friend had was absolutely delicious and really hit the spot! I don't normally post reviews, but this experience definitely warranted it! Thanks Alannah and La Cucina!
Have tried both the gnocchi and the veal parmesan, both excellent. Nothing about this place screams diet food, but if you're looking for a quality Italian place downtown with friendly staff, La Cucina is a great option.
Great food. Friendly and reasonably fast service during a busy lunch time.
Wonderful food and a great place!
The food and service was very good. Wood fire oven pizza. I wish I had taken a picture of the homemade tiramisu because it was exquisite.
amaaaazzing pizza .. the sauce was out of the world !
Really appreciated the service I have gotten here despite the busy lunch hours. Food was really good and definitely could tell they put a lot of effort into it. However I just don't think portions were right. Will definitely return again to try other menus.
We ordered a pizza and a pasta, 40mins passed since our appetizers and it's still not here. At the meantime our drinks are empty as well, waiter can't be seen and there's four tables in the House. What a joke. Avoid this place if you can.
Update: Highly disappointed by taste and quantity of pasta 4* for pizza on the first visit
Great food, service a little slow but the place was packed inside and out will return ????
Food was awesome and service was awesome. The only thing I would change (that would push it to super awesome) is I wish you had a bread basket on the table or with the pasta. So yum! Will recommend to everyone!
Delicious!
Closest I've found in Kitchener-Waterloo to pizza from Italy. Food is delicious and highly recommended!
We had a very friendly waiter who kept the drinks flowing and the food coming for a dinner with friends this summer. Food was excellent. Drinks were great.
Best pasta and pizza I've had in the city in a long time. Their homemade hot sauce is absolutely phenomenal!!
Great staff great food awesome desserts!
Food is absolutely delicious - especially the gnocchi! They did mix up one of our main course orders, but it was remedied by the fantastic food and decent service. This place is arguably the best italian available in KW.
Delicious pizza, bruschetta and calamari.
Arrived at the restaurant at 3:20 on a Saturday to locked doors. Called and was told the restaurant doesn't open until 4:00. Website states that Saturday hours are 3-11PM. Since there is little parking nearby had to walk several blocks in the cold only to be turned away at the door. No apology was given for incorrect hours being posted on their website.
Watery Margherita.. Al Pollo was disgusting as well... I do not recommend..
True authentic italian pizza...bravo chef Emiliano
This is my second time at the restaurant for dinner with the family. Food and service are top notch. Appetizers: Mussels, Calamari and octopus were cooked to perfection. Main Course: Fish special (moist and delicious); Seafood pasta …
Delicious food, great service & atmosphere!
we came with a group of 16 people. the service was amazing. food was great! even paying the bills separate was a breeze.
Great Neapolitan style pizza, but it sure ain't cheap
The servers were friendly, atmosphere warm and inviting. Food was very tasty. I will be going back.
The restaurant should update its closing hours on the Internet. On Google it says that the closing time is at 11pm on weekdays, when in reality it is around 9pm. I lost my time going there late the other day.
Great food wonderful service
Awesome food. Great service
I like it very much. Real Italian food. Great service
Delicious Italian style food and awesome service. Definitely recommend it
By far the most authentic Italian restaurant in K-W. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly. My favourite app is calamari and I try it everywhere i eat. The fresh, lightly breaded, generous portion that I received at La Cucina was delicious! I definitely recommend eating here.
Excellent all around
The lasagna was great! First time for me eating a folded pizza but I had a good experience overall. I just don't understand why the side fries were 5 bucks though. Not enough to warrant lowering my rating, but definitely won't be ordering the fries at that price.
Good
Love the pasta
Very nice spot for a night out, staff was exceptional at providing recommendation and meal pairings! All of the authentic italian food you'd expect using high quality fresh ingredients!
Almost impressively bad calamari, especially given the price
Long waits even when it’s not busy. The pizza is mediocre at best. Pastas are better but pricey. Staff don’t seem terribly happy to be there.
The soup was extremely disappointing - just some chickpeas and potatos in water without any flavor. The bread was stale. A friend had a plastic lid in this food. Would not recommend.
Great pizza!
Loved the pizza! Awesome crust.
ordered the Burrata, the classic Margherita and Genovese, pitcher of Stella went with everything well and our server Neil was amazing throughout the whole night, chocolate and cherry cheesecake was a nice way to end the night…
Pizza was great
Fantastic pizza!
Very friendly and attentive staff, comfortable atmosphere, and food was excellent! Can't think of a reason not to return.
Food & service were excellent! Our first experience there but not our last...canneloni dish & veal on a yummy, thin bun. Manhattan delivered just as ordered - straight up
Great food staff and atmosphere. Ask for table at back nicer thanks
I think the pizzas are worth it, however I personally don't think the pastas are worth the price. The Tat. bolognese is not worth the $19 price tag and there was nothing special about it. The pastas are also very salty. All in all I would only come back for the pizzas but they are also on the salty side of things.
Excellent venue to watch Rick Flair documentaries. Don’t know why my original review was deleted. But excellent WWE-themed restaurant.
Nice place to eat. Good pizza!
Excellent food, service and street-side seating options.
Had an excellent first time visit to this authentic Italian cuisine restaurant. Very busy but our waitress was super efficient. We were there on a Thursday..half price wine . We had an amazing Primativo. Our main entes were all served piping hot. I HAD the shrimp pasta. So good. No shortage of shrimp. We will return.the
Amazing thin crust pizza. Very tasty. Authentic dough recipe. Wood fired oven. For a vegan version, get the marinara and add arugula and mushrooms.
Amazing pizza and desserts!
Delicious!!
Great food, love this place.
It was a great experience. Great food and great service.
Food & Service is Fantastic
I ordered the lunch special with Caesar salad and pizza. The pizza was amazing. The crust from fresh and soft and toppings tasted good. I will be going back and getting a different pizza next time to try something different. I liked they gave us a huge cold bottle of water to pour in our glasses. Only bad thing: Caesar salad had little to no dressing on it.
Popped in for a quick lunch and it was just what we wanted. Simple yet comfortable setting, great service and a wide variety of pizzas and pasta. Margherita and Cappriciosa pizzas were very good but take note, if you want a super thin crust, this isn't it. No matter though as varied menu and helpful staff will get you whatever suits! Enjoyed it.
Food is always great when I go here. Fresh and hot, made with good quality ingredients. Only thing I've had issues with is the take out promotion didn't apply when I ordered them through the phone, perhaps whoever took my order just forgot to put it in when I had called. Food was ready very quickly and the server was very friendly. Will order again!
The food was delicious but there were fruit flies buzzing around us and on our food, irritating us throughout the meal. (seated indoors)
I've been twice now and enjoyed both times! I'm impressed with the daily specials/deals they offer - they bring down the price point a lot. I've only ever ordered pizzas, but their wood fired pizzas are terrific. I'd highly recommend them!
Food delicious we have pizza veal shank and tiramaso lovely Italian wine service was great too
Try the pizza parma
Loved my meal and good service
Lovely staff, half price wine bottles on Thursdays!
Great decor. Best Italian food in KW. Server was outstanding. Will definitely go back, there's lots more on the menu that must be tried.
Good food, good service and nice place.
Ordered Lasagna. Immensely small portion size and one of the most expensive things on the menu. Comparable to microwaved lasagna in taste and quality. Server only offered a change in dish after 3 complaints, and by then I did not have time to wait the ~25 minutes it took for food to be made. If you want Italian food, go to Ennio's instead.
their website and also their Google business said they open at 3pm on Saturday. when we got there at 3:30pm the door was locked with no explanation. there was a staff member inside who made no attempt to clear the confusion. I called the restaurant and the gentleman who picked up the phone told me they open at 4pm. when I mentioned that both their own website and their Google page said they open at 3:00pm, I was told their "web developers are working on it" but no apology was offered.
Love their pizza and pizza bites !
Great Neapolitan style pizza in Kitchener. $15 pizza and pint deal in the afternoon is amazing. Lots of options for pizza, including some that accomodate the lactose intolerant. Staff were friendly and accomodating. We will be back soon.
I love places like these! The good just seems authentic and tastes it too! (I’ve been to Italy so I can say that! :p) I love the bruschetta!!! It’s clean and just feels like little Italy in there which is great! I highly recommend this place!
It's nice to see inspired, imaginative, and great food finally come to Waterloo Region. This place can run with any of the gourmet pizza places in Toronto. Don't miss out.
Fantastic food great service
Great food, I've dined in and delivery. Both tasted fresh and delicious.
Great food, including homemade pasta
Fantastic resteuranr. Food is all hand made and for a very reasonable price. It's become one of my go to spots
Tried this place after dining at their Guelph location. They were certainly not the same dining experience, both were great in their own way. This location is a bit more relaxed, the food was fantastic (try the Boccocini di pizza, they are an incredible app), with a good selection of wine. We also tried the gnocchi and lasagne, both were fantastic. The Guelph location was a bit more formal with more elegant menu offerings. Definitely recommend trying both locations if you have the chance.
Great atmosphere and craft pizzas and beer selection
Service
Great place everything is fresh and delicious
I’ve visited this place twice now. Excellent pizza, however the pasta was a bit salty for my taste. I found the food was always served cold as it’d been sitting ready for a while, even when the place wasn’t busy. However the dough on the pizza was delicious! Place was laid back, and excellent service.
The food is delicious and the service fantastic. I highly recommend!
