This was the only vineyard on our Lake Country wine tour that we really enjoyed. The wine was delicious, all three women that we spoke to working there were super nice, helpful and made the experience amazing. Sitting outside and not being rushed through our tasting made was also nice (unlike others we experienced that day). Would recommend Ex Nihilo for sure - for the vibe and wines!

As locals, we love coming here! Unfortunately our last experience was with someone who appeared to either dislike her job or the fact that we were there. We had to wait anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes between each tasting, without any acknowledgement or a smile. Pronunciations of the wines were incorrect so it appeared there was little knowledge about what we were really tasting, and despite reluctantly buying bottles (because we do like their wine), our guide had to pay for the tasting. We will definitely skip Ex Nihilo on our next Scenic Sip Loop.

Visited Ex Nihilo for our second visit, and took the time to start with the Chaos Bistro brunch before our wine tasting. The food was amazing and our server Melissa was too! Super kind, attentive, and so much fun to be hosted by. Our wine tasting was brought to us at our brunch table, Josh was so knowledgeable about the Ex Nihilo story and the wines he served us. Can't wait to be back for more visits this summer!

The wine was mediocre at best but we did enjoy one of their tastings which was a sparkling white. The tasting fee of $10.00 per person was outrageous and even though we purchased wine the fee was not waived. We were not informed of the their policy upon entry. All of the other wineries we visited yesterday waived the tasting fee of $5.00 when a bottle of wine was purchased. We were told by cashier at Ex Nihilo that all of the other wineries we're doing the same as they were. Which was untrue. It ended up costing us over $84 for 2 bottles of wine which included a $20.00 tasting fee. I will not be recommending this winery to anyone.

We visited Ex Nihilo this last Saturday and what a great experience it was. We had Laura guiding us during our wine tasting and she was great. She had a very positive attitude when passing on her knowledge to us and the whole experience showed us how much care and commitment is put into their work at the winery. The only thing we regretted was buying only one bottle, the merlot and the pinot noir are truly special. Definitely one of the most welcoming and best wineries in the region. Can't wait to be back. Amazing experience here on our honeymoon! We dropped by for a wine tasting and Carol was so informative and friendly, she gave us a bunch of suggestions for a lunch spot and informed us they served dinner there as well. She was so great we knew right away we wanted to come back for dinner. The food was delicious and service was great. Highly recommend this place as a stop on your wine route!!

Things were disorganized on arrival, the entrance was packed and no social distancing taking place. That was followed an overly formal tasting experience which explained the delay in being seen to. Tasting was largely self guided with a flight of wines provided, there is a beautiful patio which would have been perfect for quick tastings with plenty of space. The wines are lovely but are way out of step price wise with other local, just as lovely wines.

Des and his staff did a wonderful job planning and hosting a dinner in Chaos Bistro for 40 guests before our daughter's wedding. Des was extremely accommodating and helpful. The food, service, and facility were great and the wines were excellent. We could not have been more pleased with the event and recommend Ex Nihilo without reservation.

Our tasting experience was very impersonal, as the assistant brought everything out at once, quickly rattled off the information about each wine, then didn’t return until the end to collect glasses. Usually the tasting cost is waived if guests buy a bottle, but not here. We exited through the gift shop and nobody in our group (6ppl) bought anything to take home. Beautiful location, but not worth the lacklustre tasting experience.

Absolutely remarkable! The owners are so friendly and treat you like family! Their vineyard is so beautiful with a stunning view of the lake on their deck, and the wine is unbelievably delicious (high quality and a wide range of varietals, not too sweet and full of flavor). They even make home made pizzas and have a snazzy new wine lounge! A must visit if you're stopping through lake country, or looking for a tucked away amazing experience!

Just visited here last week for a private barrel room tasting and dinner at Chaos Bistro and I must say, out of all the vineyards I visited during my trip, this was the most memorable. The service here is beyond 5 star, you can feel the compassion and love that this vineyard was built on. The staff is knowledgeable and courteous. My husband and I bought Night (red blend), 2015 Pinot Noir, 2015 Merlot and we still cannot figure out which one is our favorite. A must visit if your in the area.

No masks on server:( I am going to start out by saying that I am a wine club member here because their wine is great. The knight, XX imagine and Pinos gris are all so good. Recently I visited Ex Nihilo for a tasting to try the newer wines and I was shocked that the server was not wearing her mask inside the tasting room. She wasn't our server (who was wearing his mask) but still decided to come up only a couple feet away to say hi and chat. It was ridiculous. It is unfortunate that they are allowing this at the winery.

A pregnant member of our group was pressured into doing a tasting and made to feel uncomfortable. If it wasn't for the great pizza and friendly patio server this would be a 1 star review. After eating some dinner as a family in the patio, my wife and I with a couple kids in tow entered the tasting room. 1 person serving 2 couples and when 2 more staff showed up behind the bar they joined their colleague in ignoring us. No "hello", "be right with you" or inviting us to join. We stood around awkwardly for 10 minutes then left. Maybe they had an off day and need another chance, but with so many great/friendly winery options out there we'll probably never go back.

Amazing wines and friendly staff make Ex Nihilo the winery you must visit in Lake Country. Because they really have created some spectacular wines 'from nothing' ... Well actually from some pretty good grapes combined with their talented winemaker. The only hard thing will be to keep the Merlot I bought in the cellar for a while.

The winery and tasting room are beautiful and the staff were friendly. However, the tasting fee is twice the price of most others in the area and I did not find the quality of the wine was reflected in this. What disappointed me most were the poor social distancing and hygiene demonstrated by many of the staff members. I saw our server, whose mask was hanging off their ear most of the time, adjust and touch the inside of their mask and then, without washing or sanitizing their hands, serve us our tasting flight. During our short visit, I saw other staff members do the same, touching their masks and neglecting to clean their hands afterwards. Our server stood quite close to our table (no more than one metre) while telling us about the wines, again with their mask hanging off their ear. I was very uncomfortable here and left quickly.

We came back this year, and while the wines were still good, we felt they weren't as spectacular as last year's, price point considering. The food and wine pairing option is a great snack option if you're not overly hungry. We took advantage of it to sample the food before ordering a full order of their chicken caesar pizza. Wines were delicious, the patio was great in the sun. The only issue we had was the amount of hornets flying around. They definitely need some fake hornets' nests to get rid of this issue. Wine was delicious although we didn't buy any to go home with but it's definitely one of the highlights in our tour.

I took my guest from England here. We had the most unfriendliest server at this winery. She poured just little more than a tablespoon of wine in each of our glass.which made it impossible to determine the taste. We visited 3 vineyards this day ( other 2 being Blind Tiger and arrowleaf) and purchased 12 bottles and only 1 of them was from Ex Nihilo. We wont be returning again as there are so many other winery with great staff and great atmosphere.

What an amazing experience from start to finish. The greeter was friendly and had a great sense of humour. The bubbly (Tous) we were greeted with set the tone, as it was delicious! I had the mix of white and red tasters, they were all excellent. There's a red blend called Night that has such a depth of flavour. Their Pinot Gris is refreshing and holds its own to some of the more renown names out there. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Stunningly beautiful property! All of the wines were amazing, we went for a tasting and the owners served us. We tried 7/8 wines and I would have taken a bottle of each home. The owners are super friendly and personable. They also have a great membership program, we signed up for the silver and can’t wait to get shipments. Can’t recommend this place enough!!

Very disappointing and uncomfortable experience. Several servers had their masks or face shields hanging off one ear while serving. Our server actually removed her face shield to talk to us about the wines while standing less than a metre from us. We saw her touching the inside of her mask before serving us our flights without cleaning her hands in between and I also watched a busboy touch his hair and his face before handling clean glasses. The wine was okay, but very expensive compared to nearby wineries for lower quality. I would highly recommend avoiding this winery.

Having been to this vineyard 3 times previous, we were quite disappointed In the new attitude. The tasting was impersonal and underwhelming. We do like a few of the wines and we’re quite disappointed to learn that the cost of tasting was not reimbursed when we purchased $300 in wine. Too big for their britches now and we won’t be returning. Frind winery is a gem and is far better for the value and experience.

One of the best wineries in the northern okanagan. Stand out reds that any wine owner would be proud to cellar or surprise their friends with. It has a small but decent menu which pairs with available wines. The seating varies from inside, under a tented cover to outdoor tables with umbrellas and if you member up there are exclusive tables in the vineyard widely separated from each other. Bottom line is the wines. They are outstanding

Not only has Ex Nihilo a stunning location overlooking Okanagan Lake from the newly built patio, the wines are excellent and especially the red wines excel any other wines in the region. ???? The staff goes beyond their duties to make you feel comfortable and it shows that they feel at home at this winery. I highly recommend the wine pairing in the summer : 5 different Ex Nihilo wines perfectly paired with the most delicious bites of food - A firework for the senses ????

My experience here was wonderful. The vineyard was outstanding, the customer service as well as the representatives of this establishment was pleasant. When I walked in it was very welcoming! I came in alone and felt like I was accompanied by new friends. I learned so much about the story behind the senes as well as the art of their delicious wines. The wine was exceptional in my personal opinion. My favourite had to of been the pinot noir. Thank you so much for the experience, I cannot wait to come back!

In 2019 we went on a tour with a great tour guide to 4 different wineries. Ex Nigilo was one of the stops. Wine was good. Food was great. Was a great experience until I was buying their experience bottle of wine and asked where I was from by the clerk . When I said I was from out of province I was immediately insulted and snubbed. I was shocked. Based on that....I will never go back nor recommend.....

Everything about this place is amazing. The staff is very knowledgeable and Jeff is amazing. We did a heli-wine tour here in Sept 2016 and he still remembered us. I recommend this winery to everyone, the pizza is amazing. Thanks to everyone at Ex Nihilo for everything and we will be back again!!!

My 2nd visit. We had a reservation and were sat in the sun on a scorching hot day. We asked the staff to give us one of the 2 tables in the shade, they told they were both reserved for 30 mins from now. We were there for 1.5 hour and those empty tables in the shade were still available. Slightly disappointed.

I am a wine club member here and had a great experience. The vineyard is beautiful, the tasting room is great with a lively atmosphere and the wines are fantastic. But I'm leaving this rating because I placed an order on Dec 2nd 2019 and still have yet to receive any information in the order, its January 9th 2020 now. I've called and left voicemails as well as sent multiple emails all with no response. I'd be more than happy to edit this review if or when I get a call back or email. Customer service is a very impotant and if I'm not even extended the courtesy of an email to help resolve my issues I will be discontinued my membership.(UPDATE) I recieved a call explaining the situation and are currently in trying to find the issue with the shipping company I've updated the rating from 2 to 4 star (UPDATE)..I recieved my case of wine today (January 20th 2020)

Lovely wines and pleasent location. A little pushy for us to leave when it was apparent we were finishing the last of the tasting. They only wave one tasting fee per bottle purchased. That was surprising as a couple we usually have both waved with purchase

The wines were amazing and the service was spectacular! We had Loretta for our wine tasting and she was the best. She was extremely friendly, genuine and knowledgeable. She told us a great story about how the winery came about, took her time to introduce us to the wines and made us feel very welcomed throughout the entire tasting. Our favorites were the Night and XXX Syrah. Shout out to Loretta for making it a great experience!
