A welcome addition to Conception Bay North, especially Clark's Beach. You can enjoy a custom cocktail made with their unique gins and vodka. If cocktails aren't your thing, they have a good selection of beers at a reasonable price. If you're looking for something to nosh on, you can order a charcuterie board.

Great place to visit. We drove from St. John’s through some beautiful countryside. My wife and I chose to share a tasting tray of all 6 of their products which amounted to 3 ounces. We should have had lunch here as well because their menu had plenty of choices. Cheese trays, charcuterie board, smoked salmon etc. We had the sourdough bread to cleanse our pallets between tastes. Whether you like the product or not will depend on your individual taste. I for example, don’t care for grain vodka. Loved their Gin. The Seaweed Gin had complex flavours and the flavoured tonics that they gave us to try with the gin were amazing. Loved the Aquavit as well and the gunpowder rum was unique as well. The tasting room is a great environment and the conversation with the staff and the distiller was very educational. A fun way to spend an hour or more.

Welcoming people and place. Some original products (gins and aquavit) worth discovering. Quit pleased.

I write this review with the best of intention, to give this local business the opportunity to reach its potential. First off, I would rate the product itself 5/5 for taste, uniqueness, variety, and price point. It's the tasting room and food where I think the experience and service could be improved. Positive points - The prices are reasonable, the staff are friendly, cocktails are interesting, and it's a nice atmosphere. I was there in the winter, and I'm certain it's a beautiful view in the summer. Room for improvement - The way products are presented for tasting could be more informative and attractive. This includes local foods. Even the ways foods are cut and arranged on the plate could have been so much better from what I experienced. An additional suggestion would be to give every table bread automatically, and include crackers with the share plate. Especially now, the distillery needs locals (including people from town) to return. The experience needs to be worth a 45-90 minute drive. It needs to be worthy of going more than once or twice. Certainly, I, and I'm sure many, will continue to purchase the product at the liquor store, but the tasting room has SO MUCH POTENTIAL. Will certainly return and update my review! UPDATE: I visited on the Sunday of May long weekend with 3 friends. The drinks were tasty but the service was poor. We had 3 different servers during our visit. The first server began to tell us the drink specials, then stopped and said they were up on the board. I couldn't see the board from where I was sitting, so I asked her to repeat the specials and she suggested I could go take a look at the board. I don't mind but also don't necessarily think a server should suggest that. After that, we mostly had a server come over who was very friendly but only came over when she noticed us looking around for her. We needed a cab, and she suggested we call the cab a little early to ensure it was there before close, which we did. However, there was a hold up when we went to pay our bills - the server came over and asked us all individually what we had ordered to process our bills. I've never experienced that before. Then, items still got confused on the bill, and she said there was an extra item that nobody had claimed. This business seriously needs to consider better training for staff - serving is a hard gig but proper training and effective recruitment are crucial. So I put the onus on the business.

I have never been here, but one day..... But. If you like a Martini with a twist, the Seaweed Gin is something I would very much recommend to u. It’s the best Martini I have ever made. It’s as simple as that.

We just dropped in here today and had a fantastic experience which I would like to share with you. We were greeted by a wonderful, very friendly lady, named Jackie. She took the time to explain the Newfoundland Distillery Comp.history and then got us into some fabulous testing of the Spirits which they craft up right on their premises using locally sourced ingredients. This is a very young establishment but the unique local batches of spirits they are making, have already gained some fantastic recognition as you can see by the awards on the bottles. I found the Rhubarb Vodka and AQUAVIT to be a couple of my favorites while my girlfriend fell head over heels for their Gin. We bought a couple of bottles and will be introducing it to our friends back in Manitoba. Great thing about this is that you can also order it on line. Drop in and give your tastebuds something to talk about. Thank You!

Life Journey

I'm going to give 5 stars. I've never been here. I live in New Hampshire. This was my grandmothers, brothers hardware store. I've heard great things about the Distillery, and am looking forward to visiting this summer. I haven't been in over 35 years, but this is where my roots are from.. Wishing prosperity to the proprietors!

I visited St John's Newfoundland and a family member introduced me to Seaweed Gin. It was absolutely delicious. It is so smooth. This is now my new #1 gin. Just wish I could find it in Ontario! I recommend the Seaweed Gin to any and everyone who loves a refreshing beverage. Wow.

Stopped in for a drink, welcomed by friendly staff, and tasteful decor. Had a strawberry dandy, lime & soda spritz mocktails, and a Summer Kiss!

The layout is nice. The service excellent. The ingredients wonderful. Don't drink booze so don't ask. The location is lovely. The place gives lots of employment to locals. Close to Cupids and Perchance Theatre.

Fany Boulerice

The Gin is fantastic!

Fantastic little destination for a road trip from St. John's. Family-run, and the staff is very friendly. Line of drinks are great, and it's nice to hear about the background of each straight from the folks who conceived of them. Nice selection of local food to accompany the drink choices. Unfortunately, tours aren't available due to health officials not allowing them while the equipment is in operation. Luckily for the owners, it's in operation constantly to keep up with demand.

Enjoyed our visit to the distillery and sampling their tasty spirits along with some local cheese and charcuterie. They have a large bright tasting room and offer entertainment on occasion. Thanks to Jackie for the friendly greeting and great service.

Great products, delicious cocktails. Perfect service and very knowledgeable staff. Proud that Newfoundland produces such excellent quality.

Dennis Rice

World class spirits and cocktails. We saw some sandpipers and an unidentified colourful bird on the beach. Also had a great chat with a most knowledgeable bartender and learned much about the spirits. Worth the drive from town!

We dropped in on a Saturday about a month ago and had quite and informative and entertaining time. I would recommend it to anyone when in the area. We plan to drop in again this Saturday on our way around the bay. Good work folks.

Cannot recommend this place highly enough! The most delicious options for locally distilled beverages, and snack platters that are perfect after a hike or a wander. Staff are the friendliest and most charming of folks (Sydney and Kyle are amazing). We got to enjoy a starry night and seaside view. Great giftshop for taking away bottles, flasks, great clothing, etc.

My cousin lives in Clark's Beach and my parents were there visiting in September. He recommended the chaga rum and I am now hooked on it. Delicious. I live in New Brunswick so I'll have to order it until I get there hopefully next Easter. I'll be stocking up and will try the vodka too. Just another reason I love Newfoundland ????

T Leger

Had a nice time there. Great to sample locally made products and I loved the fact that they serve a selection of NFLD meats, cheeses and bread to accompany the tastings.

Never visited but was in the us army with a guy from new foundland(John Nolan). He'd moved to New York and got drafted during Vietnam always spoke about the beauty of the island. On my bucket list.

A wonderful place to spend the afternoon or evening enjoying the fine spirits made here, especially my favourite Seaweed Gin. Because we “Come From Away” a trip in person is not likely in the near future, thankfully THEY DELIVER! Seaweed Gin just arrived via Canada Post and the weekend will be a little smoooother. 5 Stars all the way.

A great place to socialize and lighten the day with some exceptional gin. Yes, their seaweed gin was worthy as was the cloudberry gin. A very friendly staff and a great view of the bay. Will be back to sample the other rum varieties. They offer sourdough bread and cheese cuts to snack on while sampling their spirits. We enjoyed a simple relaxing moment with excellent drinks while soaking in the bay view. A perfect way to immerse yourself in the local palate and flavors.

Newfoundland's first distillery has come a long way in its first few years. The Chaga Rum is fantastic and mixed with Ginger Beer is going to be a regular in our home. The tasting room in Clark's Beach is very inviting and great for a relaxing Saturday afternoon drink and a bite. What a great addition to our local attractions.

Caitlin

Our friends brought us this nice gift of your gins. Love them!

Gail Smith

Their online customer support is amazing and their products are of great quality. Bought some while I was travelling there a few months ago and ordered some online lately. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to bring home a taste of Newfoundland's spirits!
