Been there three times in the last few months, first time there was a private function and we were turned away. Next two times ( both lunch and dinner) we were told that despite the website it's only takeout or for the DRL bus. Can't see bothering to keep trying, no updated site to check, no info....

Had a great breakfast here, and the service was incredible. True to the word on the street about the friendliness of the people in Gander.

Had supper here with a friend and had a great experience. Super friendly staff, and great food. We both had the fish & chips and loved it. The fries are some of the best I've ever had. Would definitely recommend it. Pricing is comparable to other mid-range restaurants in the area.

Loved the atmosphere & the menu looks amazing and is priced reasonably. Very friendly service! Despite my review below I will go back to try again hoping it improves. Sadly everything I ordered (on multiple visits) was overcooked. With the exception of the fries and onion rings - which I liked a lot. The burger was very dry which was a huge let down, sliders were as well. Brie was fried so long that there was hardly cheese left inside the batter. My friends chicken burger was dry with a very very dark burnt batter. Fish tacos had a lot of potential but we're dry (could be from quality of the fish vs being overcooked perhaps). The menu was also out of several options and there was no liquor for cocktails, which I find very surprising. And a lack of knowledge about the types of beer on tap. Just knowing the name of the beer but not the brewery it comes from or the type isn't usually that helpful. I hope with time the knowledge and cooking improves as I really loved the atmosphere and the menu choices are great on paper.

My wife and I tried to have supper at this establishment August 13th 2021. The half doors that allow you into the restaurant were closed. There was a private function in the back room, and nobody else in the restaurant. One of the server's told us that they weren't taking any more customers because they had the staff reserved for this private function. Almost an entire restaurant empty, and they were turning away customers. Union East also operates a functional Facebook page, however didn't care to make the public aware on that page that you couldn't actually eat there if you wanted to. The server told us that they don't do that ????. I mean, I love to have my time wasted and all, but that's just ludicrous. There was also a flight that had just landed. I wonder how many customers they had to turn away that night. We were told to make a reservation next time. But there won't be a next time. Abysmal way to run a business. They clearly don't care about making money

Overall poor experience. Food was over priced for the quality, very much so. Main course was brought out before we even came close to finishing the appetizers. The fact I ordered the burger made this worse as the burger was huge and it was brought out in about 5 minutes. Obviously previously cooked. One star only because the beer was good. The server was also poor. She had no idea of the menus and because there was no alcohol Menes she brought over the bulletin board from the bar with the beer written on it. I assume this place is going to rely on travellers and not locals. Won’t be going back

We had a lovely dinner here recently; the service was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable and the food was excellent. The menu, though small-ish, is quite varied and well-executed. Great atmosphere, surrounded by the town’s aviation history, with flexible space that doesn’t make it feel as if you’re just killing time waiting for your gate to be called. Very reasonable pricing for drinks and dishes alike.
