It's been many years since I've been in the this steakhouse. I will start with the service was very good, the waiter was friendly. The steak however was not done to the right temperature and the mashed potato was more like scalloped potatoes. The restuarant was clean and warm.

I have always been very pleased with the service at The Keg and I have been going there for years. The prices have gone up, but to me, it's always been worth it. Perhaps it is the nostalgia, but this place never fails to bring me exceptional service and food. The escargot is probably the best dish and I look forward to going so much more in the days and years to come.

Excellent food as anyways. The service was pretty good the server was a little ditsy but that made everything fun. I had the prime rib which is cooked to medium rare, if you want it rare as I did too bad. For a dude i asked the server to suprise me as I was indecisive, she brought fries which was mildly disappointing. Not her fault. If in Fort McMurray give the place a try you will not be disappointed.

A meanie lady with blond hair server from the restaurant brought my salad to the bar side and was totally glaring and sneering at me when I requested the dish from her as she was just about to set it in the center of the table. Great new look to both restaurant and bar side! Lack of carpet projects volume though.. And the calamari tasted like mini donuts at a carnival... Not sure how much sugar they add to the batter?! We'll be back but will be picking a better booth, and definitely no appetizers... Steak was great as is should be.

No complaints. I'd go 4.5 stars if it was an option. I reserve 5 stars more for places of ill repute. That's just personal preference though, I don't feel at home unless there's at least a slight chance of knife fight breaking out, and I'm sorry, but the Keg just doesn't have that vibe.

Great, high quality restaurant. Try the Barossa Cabernet. Very nice! Service was very good. Excellent atmosphere, superior to most other Winnipeg restaurants I've visited. I highly recommend the Pistachio Crusted Salmon. Cooked to perfection.

I am not pleased by the way Im treated at this location. Im an easygoing person and I don't take things personally but their staff and their manager need a better training. The food wasn't that good either. I and my friends used to eat here once a week but not anymore.

For a supposedly classy restaurant, it wasn't that special of an occasion at all. The service wasn't that great. The drink I had ordered was missing part of my drink. Food was alright. The dessert I had ordered was burnt. I got home and felt incredibly sick after eating steak and potatoes.

Its hit or miss with almost every keg I've eaten I ask for medium well steaks I get rare inside and well outside, or a super small super thick cut. The mash potato is good and the twice baked. The wine is expensive and not many shiraz types on the menu. Dinner for 2 with 1 dessert and kid meal for a small child usually comes to $180 before tip so id definitely expect a perfect steak for that price.

The lounge side is where we prefer to sit as we love the ceiling-high fireplaces :) If you haven't been to the Keg, then you need to try it out!!

It was our 40th anniversary on the 2nd. Our waitress was great with us. The meal was wonderful the steaks were perfect. but my all time favourite is the Billy Miner pie without that for dessert the meal is just not complete.

LOVE the keg!! always amazed by the food and never ever leave disappointed. yes sometimes you may be required to wait for a table. however when you get your food you almost forget how long you waited. Be sure to make reservations so you don't have to wait! highly recommend the lobster and steak with twice baked potato!! and the red sangria to top it off :)

We have gone to The Keg for our last two Wedding Anniversarys and have had great service each time. Turns out we've had the same waitress both times too. She's fabulous. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was great. All the staff we came across were professional and ready to assist us. We absolutely plan on going again for our Anniversary next year. Maybe next year I'll be more prepared for the food coma. I recommend this location to anyone who asks.

This is my favorite Keg location in all of Alberta. Everytime I'm in Fort Mac, I'm sure to stop by here. Always go to the lounge side. Get a blue cheese salad with steak. Amazing food! Great service. I love the layout here, huge location. Never been disappointed!

Overpriced for the quality. I have no problem going out and spending $70 per person when the food is good, but when it's not that's such a disappointment. I ordered the Pistachio crushed salmon, it was lacking in flavour and presentation. The service was alright, but I would never return.

The keg is generally very standard from one to another. This keg in Ft McMurray reflects the atmosphere of the city. I was treated properly in the keg tradition on both occasions. My food was excellent as well.

Waited far too long for our entrees in the restaurant. Waitress didn't even come to explain why we had to wait for so long for our meals until 45 minutes after eating our appetizers. Then we ordered another drink and proceeded to wait 45 minutes more with another apology to wait further. Finally the manager came out and did nothing to give any recompense. The only reason I give 2 stars is the food, if on time is good, but only delivered in a timely manner in the lounge. Won't eat in the restaurant side again. There were people in there after us who had eaten and paid their bills while we waited. Unsatisfied completely.

Fantastic location, awesome decor. Enthusiastic and vibrant waiter The appetisers were out quickly and escargot and cheese toast were awesome I had the steak and lobster. My only recommendation would be to order the 8oz as 6oz is small. The lobster meat is three huge pieces of claw meat that will satisfy that craving. The butter and herb sauce was fantastic. I'm not a huge steak fan mainly cause growing up things were cooked well done. Well I got this cooked medium and it's the best steak I've had in my life! HUGE props to the keg for finally doing what so many do not and giving me a huge portion of mashed potatoes. So many places are cheap with this and we all know what they cost! My veggies were alright. Other guests had ribs, chicken and ribs, the burger, and steak and Crab everyone loved their dishes, one friend had the bacon wrapped chicken and didn't care for it. We were celebrating a young man's 16th birthday and he got a delicious mocha ice cream cake dessert which was yummy too I will be back for sure !!

Pros and Cons for 4 people dinner Pros: - Clean environment: entrance door, table, toilets - Decent waiting time for food after the order was taken (around 15 minutes); appetizers (calamari) came after few minutes; - Everybody ordered ribs with fries or mashed potatoes. Ribs were delicious. Fries are fries. - Good service: every few minutes the servers passed by or checked the table visually without asking anything looking only for eye contact to intervene. - Not crowded at all on Saturday evening at 18:00. Cons: - Medium to high prices: 4 ribs (2 full racks and two half racks + one plate with calamari, no any drinks, taxes and 15% tips included was $221.) - Small tables and seats (benches); uncomfortable for 4 adults to seat at the same table. - The side salad ordered was coleslaw cabbage; on the plate was some cabbage sprayed with vinegar and few white color drops of some kind of sauce. - Horrible unpaved parking lot with a lot of big potholes.

This was the best keg experience I have had to date, my steak was well cooked and flavourful. That being said 40+ dollars seemed like a stretch considering the portion size and the service, our server seemed to be annoyed to be serving us until the end of the meal at which point she became much friendlier. This seems to be the case for most restaurants in this town I have come to realize.

I came to The Keg in Fort MacMurray because I'm staying in the hotel attached. What a complete waste of time... Its been a long time since I've had such horrible service. I sat at the bar, only to feel like I was inconveniencing the bartender. I mostly sit at the bar b/c bartenders are generally sociable. I ordered a beer and fried cauliflower (the absolute worst fried cauliflower I've ever had, soggy af) I ate maybe half of it, even asked for a different sauce to try and save it, no such luck. I was not quality checked. I was not even asked if everything was ok after I left a half full plate of food, which is industry standard. (Well at my restaurants it is, and we're not even considered as high end as The Keg) I pulled money out, so I could escape and end this experience once and for all. I was asked if I "needed" my change, then my receipt was taken away and crumpled in front of me with a "thanks a lot". There were managers on the floor who walked by, never even offered a simple hello. They did gossip with the staff though. All the staff seemed to spend a lot of time in the back. I will offer up the fact that I had just checked into the hotel after a long drive and looked exhausted, I generally dress up a little more to go to The Keg but I was exhausted and just wanted a bite before a nap. However being a restaurant manager myself for the past 15 years , I have learned to never judge a book by it's cover. Of course I tipped 20% b/c I know what people in the service industry make, especially in a dying economy. I know a % of his sales go to other hard workers such as kitchen and hosts. I was actually planning on dinner there too, but not after that. I will enjoy The Keg again, in bigger cities where people care about their jobs, have more experience in customer service and probably get more training.

New post Nov 25, 2021 I had a Baseball Top Sirloin Steak with Twice Baked Potato, veggies, Ceasar Salad and Fresh Bread Loaf. Steak was very juicy, te Der and flavorful. Potato and Salad were great as usual. The Free Bread Loaf is always amazing. My Fiance had. Rib Steak with Lobster Tail, Twice Baked Potatoe and Veggies. She wasn't overly impressed with her steak (over-cooked). She enjoyed the Lobster Tail, Twice Baked Potatoe and the Mushrooms (from the veggie medley). Overall, I was very pleased, with my meal and My Fiance wasn't impressed. - Old Post Steak had to be sent back 3 times. Rest of the meal was good though

I arrived later in the evening (8 PM) to avoid the line ups and got a seat in the dining room right away. Service was professional but not particularly friendly, probably because it was late in the evening and she was getting tired. Food was excellent. By the time I paid for one appetizer, two steaks, two wines, no coffee or desert plus tax and tip, the bill was about $150. A lot of money for two meals.

We had nearly a three hour wait for our food. As well as my steak came out nearly rare when I asked for it to be medium done. The server did comp our drinks for the wait but it wasn't the service or quality of food you expect when paying $40-$50 a plate.

Experience was awesome food superb... right from the start we were seated within 4 minutes that's pretty impressive . Our waitress then started off with drinks which came out very fast. Then she took her order for appetizers, by the time we actually washed are hands the appetizers were on the table. I really enjoy eating at the Keg. It's one of my favorite restaurants to eat at. I ordered the prime rib and it was fantastic. The Keg in Winnipeg also serves a stout beer on tap called Murphy's and it's a tasty beverage. The staff are friendly and professional. The ambiance in the restaurant was nice but I would recommend reservations if your coming with a small to large group.

I went for the steak sliders. Was disappointed. They are shaved beef sliders. Not as tasty. Previously they were like a mini BBQ steak. Sooo flavorful Service was very good. Did not feel rushed to order. Wait staff was excellent. I always order 2 appetizer rather than a full meal. There is enough for 2 people. And don't forget the 9 ounce glass of wine with it. Ample parking. Half hour from moray to Henderson a Gilmore. Worth the trip.

Went with my boyfriend for our 2nd year anniversary and we loved it! Gina M. was just a fantastic server, she took care of us right of the bat, provided us with drinks and bread to start of the evening. Although we came during the peak of the dinner rush, Gina was sure to always check up on how we were doing with our meal, refilled our drinks and overall welcomed us with amazing hospitality! It also did not take long for us to receive our orders, which my boyfriend and I quite enjoyed. We also ordered a mini desert, and Gina went above and beyond and she came out with desert on the house! Overall an amazing experience. Will definitely recommend to those who are wanting a intimate/group location to celebrate or dine. Ask for Gina! She’s amazing ! One of the best servers we have ever had!

The food was delicious, my steak was very tender and was cooked to my liking. My waiter was also very patient and friendly with me and my gazillion questions about the menu. However, I find the lighting inside to be a tad bit dark and the food to be a bit on the expensive side. But overall it's a very cozy place to dine.

We've been here many times over the years and each visit has been solid and consistent. Tonight was a different story... We had a table of 9 on a busy Friday evening and expected service that would be slower than normal. Our server, Skittles*, went above and beyond what he had to do and continued to impress. Very Good Service. Food is Excellent. Great Staff. I went in recently for one of my girlfriends birthday's and the server was very friendly with us. When we were done our meals she brought her out a cake, and she even decorated the plate. I thought it was nice to see the extra mile all the staff here take to make their customers leave happy. Also the food and drinks didn't take long to get to the table, and they were cooked to perfection. :) Obviously great service once again from The Keg.

waiter didnt know what a steak oscar was...a friend of mine asked for no bacon around is steak...they brought it anyway. They were going to remove the bacon but the waiter didnt understand that he can't eat pork...he had to get a new everything on the plate. Another friend had a fly in her martini. There were more fruit flies hand around us in the dining area. The waiter kept on forgetting to bring another friends drink. it was bad service.

We have never had a bad meal at the keg, we go very frequently. My favorites are: mushrooms Neptune, baked brie, blue cheese filet, filet mignon and the birthday cake that they give to customers for free on birthday occasions. They have a great list if wines too, if you are planning on having a couple of glasses of wine I recommend buying the whole bottle. You can always re-cork it and get take it home with you

THIS LOCATION HAS GONE DOWNHILL!!! The Keg seems to have opened a second restaurant in their lounge and hesitates to seat customers in the main dining room. Customers that used to wait in the lounge for a table and have a few drinks are now forced into the lobby like a medical walk in clinic .They now seat as many customers as they can in uncomfortable lounge seating while over a dozen tables are vacant in the main dining room. Don't let them do this to you! They did this to us a month ago and tried to do it again tonight. Hold out for the dining experience you are paying for... Recommendations: Hermano's, CHOP, The Capitol if you want good food and service and not some crappy new business model. Sorry Keg. New Management required!

I was at The Keg this past weekend and I was very disappointed in my meal and service. I was in a group of 10 people and we were sitting at a long table. Our server checked in on us a few times throughout our meal, however, he only checked up on the front half of the table and therefore myself, seated at the other end, was not able to address the issues with my meal. I tried flagging him down a couple of times and both times he made eye contact but did not come over to me. Firstly, my caesar salad had literally ONE piece of parmesan cheese on it ( no word of a lie, ONE piece!) and absolutely NO dressing. Also, I did not get the steak I ordered, which was very disappointing. I feel these issues could have been fixed, however our server only seemed to care about the front half of our table and therefore I was not able to address the issues with my meal. As a server I know that this was not proper service and for that I did not leave a tip.

It was my spouse and I first time to the Keg at this location, so we were pretty pumped about finally going here! We walk in, the service is good and decent, our food comes. I ordered the shrimp and steak medallions, and so far so good...I’m cutting into the steak and noticed a thick, curly, hair on the sharp edge of my knife! (My natural hair is straight) We wave down a waitress, and she offers me another knife, before I could say anything...our original waitress comes, we tell her, and she’s offers a dessert...we ask to speak to the manager, and my food and drinks are covered, but the cold manner they had, including the manager blew us away! The keg on mcgillvary is much better or Joeys on Kenaston...trust us, and save your money

So sweet, in fact, I may have diabetes now lol. We kept her pretty busy as we are kind of needy lol but she was on it like white on rice. The Keg has been a staple restaurant of mine for more than a couple of decades. This location is pretty decent. Most of the time our experiences have been really positive. When there have been issues with our meals (or issues serving staff) management has been really good rectifying things. I get that not all restaurants get everything right each time - and what stands out about The Keg - when something goes wrong (e.g., steak is overcooked) they are really good at fixing the issue as soon as possible without giving you a hard time. In general, the steaks are well-seasoned, well-cooked, etc. The twice-baked potato is delicious and worth the calories. The desserts are good but I hardly have any room left after a large meal – but they have mini ones that are the perfect size and worth ordering.

Rancid Prime Rib - Very unhappy with the manager here at 7:00 PM September 12, 2019. I have eaten at the Keg on many occasions and have had great meals. This evening, while out with a group of professionals I was eating prime rib. The last section that I was cutting into and put into my mouth was rancid. I explained to waitress and eventually the manager. The manager treated me as if I was lying and made no attempt to apologize. Hopefully no one else tonight at this Keg shared in the same cut that I did? Won’t be back and will warn off others. It’s a sad day for this carnivore!

Ordered prime rib 10 oz classic dinners. My wife ordered hers rare to med. I ordered mine mèd. The order came out and my wife's was twice as big as mine. And mine was very thin and had been dipped in some kind of sauce to bring it to med. Switched with my wife and found hers had way to much pepper on it. Wife could not eat hers took home for the dog. Service has changed since started going there five years ago. And food seems to be getting less in quality. Will consider going someplace else from now on.

This Keg provides the level service you would expect from the Keg; place is clean, severs are friendly and check up on you often. The meals are well prepared, and look great. Noticed lots of families with young kids. This is great to see. Parking is not much of an issue; parking across the street and beside the building. Long main entrance to keep you warm when there is a wait. Hosts are quick to greet you and walk you to your table when available. The lighting is dim for that romantic feel. Servers know the menu options and explain how the food will be prepared. Sound like a solid dining experience for Travellers and the Fort Mac Strong.

End cuts usually have more seasoning then mid cuts because of outer surface........mine had none....? No seasoning. I stopped on the way home for a steak sandwich with mushrooms and a twice baked potato tonight. I was served by Brooke was pleasant and efficient. I had mentioned another places that I got steak that hadn't been picked up very quickly and I'd like it medium rare and I took some pictures in the steak was absolutely perfect. I've had quite a few there and I believe that Kevin, M&M that's two Megan's :-) are running a tight ship. Several months ago I mentioned negative experience I had and Kevin made right. I've come there a dozen times at least since and have referred it to several people and giving out gift certificates to clients so call me back to being a loyal Kegger! Don't forget to look at the pictures of the steak and that's how it should be done! The atmosphere is dark and convivial and just a little noisy in the bar if you decide to just have a quick steak sandwich or whatever but don't forget about happy hour which is between 3 and 6 or after 9? Drink and appetizer in food specials!

I walked in the store and asked how long it would take to be seated, I was told that I have to wait an hour and a half. I left the store and phoned and asked the same question, I was told they could seat me right away. I talked to the manager she had no reasonable explanation. My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary and everything was divine! Our server AJ was an absolute pleasure, and they even threw in a free dessert for our special occasion. The food was amazing and good sized portions for the prices. Tremendous value, love the keg.

It was alright. I mean we didn't get the steak or the prime rib for once and I guess that was our mistake. The kids meals were sub par and the burger and fries were not great. Seemed like a rush job. The fries were over salted and soggy. Burger was a good party and good bun. The rest was alright. All I could taste afterwards was onion though probably from the coleslaw which should be called onionslaw.

Steak is good asked for red peppers only, no green beans , I got 2 cold tiny red peppers. My friends salad looked like a head of lettuce with some dressing on top of it. Waitress not on top of it at all. Second time here, nowhere near as good as kegs anywhere else . Creeme brula took for ever and was cold .

The lounge is absolutely gorgeous. Easily one of the nicest rooms in Fort McMurray. Never had a bad experience, the food is always great. The old-fashioned is delicious.

Wasn't busy for dinner when we went. Jets game was in Winnipeg that night. Service was great. Steak was over cooked and had to get another one made. They were good about it.

Meal came out fast, service was wonderful, didn't have to wait long for a table plus they are very willing to accept kids n babies even have high chairs! The only thing I have to complain about was the music was loud I could barley hear my hubby talk and he was sitting right next to me!

As per normal, Mr. Loga and his team provided excellent service and a divine meal - no small task considering we are at least 430kms from a major civic center, and that everyone is still recovering from the massive wild fires in 2016. Thank you Sir, we look forward to seeing you soon!

The food was amazingly well prepared, except the Brussels sprouts. They were underdone and a little over charred at the same time. The server was amazingly accommodating since we only chose the Keg to use a gift card and don't like steak. He was able to quote from memory their hidden seafood menu which had lobster and crab dishes!

The only good place to eat in Fort Mc. Never let me down. Good stakes. Salmon tastes farmed though, but overall good place to spend the night. Little.over priced too, so watch out if you have limited budget

Out of all locations in Winnipeg, this is the best one! The service is 100% amazing every time we reserve to eat here. The food is great as to what you are paying for and the atmosphere is relaxing. I hope this location keeps it up with their customer service and the food quality will be grand as always!

I've yet to be happy with any meal that I had at the Keg. To be fair I only go there once ever one to two years. The service is great, the atmosphere is terrific but not happy with the steak preparation, taste tenderness or the plate presentation. Trust me I'm always hoping for the best experience, but always a let down for a higher end place. Sorry.

Prices getting more expensive, but the foods not getting better, & the service also isn't as well as it used to be. Had to send my drink back twice then gave up on it= it was awful. Server doesn't even say thanks for the tip-rude, made me regret leaving it. All in all, not worth the prices they charge with ridiculously small portions of sides.

Prime rib was delicious, horseradish was extra hot and fresh, au jus was peppery perfect, and service was warm enthusiastic and friendly. Thank you Anya, who brought me a sample of another wine to contrast with what I'd ordered. Twice-baked potato was perfect consistency. A great meal out. beautiful
