Great wine and whiskey selection with knowledgeable staff. They often have great deals on some wines. Beer selection is small but they do offer some unique imports. Beer is a tad pricier than other places, but this is mainly a wine store.

Decent place. But do your research. Keep walking past the wine displays at the front and focus on the adventure of finding your own wine. Can't go wrong with Italian or French reds. Ask for help. They know what they are selling. Ask for a sample. Wine should not be intimidating.

I was helped by David, presumably one of the owners. I had him pick out 12 bottles of wine for me. I told him now that I was in my 40's I thought I deserved $40 bottles of wine now. He was friendly, knowledgable and decisive. That is exactly how I want to be helped in a wine store. We've now had three of the bottles and have enjoyed each one immensely. Great picks! I will be back for sure!

The staff at this establishment are a pleasure to deal with and they provide a service that is second to none. I enquired by email from Ottawa about organizing two separate Christmas gift selections to be delivered to family in Edmonton. I had a response back the same day with excellent suggestions and a completely professional quote. The staff then created beautiful presentations in baskets and delivered them to very appreciative recipients. I would not hesitate to patronize Vines-Riverbend Wine Merchants anytime in the future. It cannot be disputed that they have an amazing selection of finer wines and spirits, with that being said the service i received the 3 times i have gone into this store was severely lacking at best and yes there was a witness to the last two times I was in there and treated rudely. To say they were busy would be a stretch as my friend and I were the only customers in there and thankfully she was there to help me find what I was looking for as I left my glasses in the car and the gents behind the counter were watching sports on their computer. This last time my lady friend was asked if she needed help and I was followed until I found the 18 year old rum i was looking for. Great selection with pretentious attitudes. There are too many other equally stocked places with better customer service for me to continue spending my money here any further.

horrible service . told the clerk i wanted a bottle of red wine to get drunk and the guy wouldnt serve me . isnt that the whole purpose of wine . as a new wine drinker i wanted to ask for a decent bottle of wine was brutally honest with him and i ended up getting kicked out for no reason at all . old white guy with glasses .
