We booked our trip months ago and were really happy that that the Kingfisher is open. They are doing a fantastic job with the covid precautions and we still were able to enjoy a beautiful dinner on their patio. The chef has an incredible sense of color, flavor and the meal was deeply satisfying. The dark chocolate ganache came out like a work of art. The servers were attentive and doing a great job despite gloves and face shield masks. The spa is quiet right now and it's a beautiful time to visit.

Overall this restaurant is awesome. Great views, and good food. The potato gnocchi is to die for! 3 stars are a result of our last and most recent dining experience. It may be that the restaurant is understaffed, but the service was quite slow and we waited for about an hour for our food. We ordered the family style dining menu, and were pretty disappointed by it, especially because it was so expensive. We expected pairings of items to come out together for us to enjoy over the course of the evening. Unfortunately everything was brought at once, forcing us to try and eat as fast as possible to be able to eat it warm. I had to eat my salad last due to it being the only thing that wasn’t going to cool off. The steak was also over cooked, and we sent it back. The new steak was cooked fine but had a hair in it which we noticed closer to the end. I’m not sure what was going on this day, but it was definitely not the kind of experience we are used to there. My recommendation is to just order off the main menu, all the items are solid and you won’t be disappointed. Maybe don’t send food back to the kitchen, the hair was pretty gross. Book early, this place gets reserved way out.

I booked this reservation over a month ago as this was my husband and I's 5th wedding anniversary celebration meal. We were greeted by the rudest hostess we have ever encountered. She said we did not make a reservation, we advised we made this over a month ago and had the reservation printed clearly on our resort check in package. She said she could "squeeze us in" as if it was a huge inconvenience. She said "reservations get lost all the time"...? She was extremely rude and aggressive while painstaking reviewing the "covid 19 policies" she stuck us in a seat not at a window, which i expressed we would most appreciate while making the reservation. She threw our menus down and walked away. We were really upset by this treatment and being called liars about making this reservation. It ruined our whole experience and my husband was shocked at this encounter at a fine dining restaurant. Our server was efficient and nice, the food was absolutely delicious and the chef is a true talent. Every dish we ordered was perfection. It is a shame that the front of house representation does not know how to treat guests with respect. Despite the wonderful food, our experience was marked by this abrasive and condescending "greeting" experience.

The food was amazing, whether at Aqua or at Ocean7. The chicken at Ocean7 is a must and their Caesar salad. The Kimchi Chicken bowl at Aqua is also a must. The views are excellent. We never had a bad meal while we were on our trip.

The view and service is spectacular but if you are vegan or vegetarian you will not find anything on their menu. This makes it very difficult as I am and would have to leave the resort if I wanted to eat anything. They should have a menu that caters to all clients

Its an June heat wave. Did an evening MC ride to have a drink on the patio. Can i say amazing. Took some friends new to town and they were impressed. Now they have a happy hr with a different Margarita every night. Just call me Arnold, I'LL BE BACK

More hype than execution. Smallest and most expensive oysters I have ever been served. Very underwhelming and tepid cocktail. Steak tartar was VERY spicy (not sure if too much Dijon or shallots?), some might like it that way, but I prefer a less bullying flavour. Our server must have been having a bad night because of the very little interaction we had with her, she was curt and hard to get a hold of. There was a tension at the table that added to the disappointment with our meal. We ended up walking out before we received our next starter (that was charged to our room anyway). Maybe it was the lateness of our reservation, the kitchen was having a rough night, or we had built up too much anticipation, but I haven't been this disappointed in a popularized restaurant in quite some time. I expect better from a restaurant, at those prices, on a resort, where you have no other adequate dining options nearby. Went hungry 2 nights in a row :(

I have been here around four times and I can’t wait to go again. Its definitely one of the best restaurant in the Valley by far, if not the best. Definitely top 2. Sure it’s expensive, but worth every penny. We had great service every time I visited. The views are breathtaking. It seems like the menu changes as the seasons shift to get the best ingredients for their dishes, which I only saw at one other restaurant in the Valley, which is in that aforementioned top 2. I definitely recommend making a reservation to ensure you can have a great meal for you dinner plans.

View was fantastic and all but this review is about the food. Appetizers were alright but the main course had issues. The meat in particular was quite overcooked, the medium rare steaks were a solid medium at best and my rare lamb was a medium, nearing medium well. Possibly the thing that irritated me the most was that when I brought up my lamb being over cooked I was told that the "Chef cooks this dish to perfection to ensure the most tender and flavorful meal possible" if rare was not an option, being told while ordering would have been appropriate. Your mileage may vary but overdone or not, the meal didn't leave me terribly impressed elsewise either.

evening for spa. Decided to get a snack at restraunt. We Found a peice of Wire in our salad . When we let them know they really didn't seem to care . No offer to re make food or apologies. I suggested they let the kitchen know incase other salad going out could have wire in it . . I went back later and talked to manager she at least heard my concerns on poor service and said she would follow up with my concerns. Have not heard back since . We won't be back

Pancakes and Oatmeal, (with toasted walnuts? And apples drool) are to die for! Amazing hydropath, massages,and facials here at kingfisher spa and resort on the ocean. We also had the luck of staying during their incredible lights in the courtyard with mini fires throughout each night. Swim in the heated outdoor waterfall pool and hot tub, sit by the fire... Best 2 night stay Ive ever had anywhere. Staff lovely helpful knowledgeable and friendly. I cant reccomend it enough! 5 stars because I cant give more! ..

Beautiful location on the water. The view goes on forever. The landscaping is unique and we'll done. Lovely wines, attractive decor which is sort of a refreshed version of the 1950's in chocolate and blue. Dined on their fish tacos and fries for lunch and they were exceptional. I would highly recommend breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner here. A hidden delight.

Great spot for a special occasion, my wife and I really enjoyed our New Years meal at The Breakwater. Food was very well prepared and had some nice twists on classic dishes. Cocktail and Wine list was fairly good while the draught beer list was narrow but featured some good brews from vancouver island breweries. The meal was relatively expensive but as it was the New Years fixed menu it could be expected. We'll be back to try more standard meal one day.

We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner with dessert here during our stay on the property. The plating was marvelous each time, stratafied well with fascinating secondary flavours. Breakfast was eggs benny with fruit; hollandaise was thick but fluffy, the breakfast potatoes are some sort of mysterious edible magic, likely in it's most elevated final form. The fruit was a larger medley than I've encountered before, with out-of-season items that were perfectly selected. Lunch was the korean rice bowl and one piece fish and chips (pictured). The portions were ample for the price, and the meat was melt-in-your-mouth perfect in each dish. Dinner was the seared pork belly, so soft and glazed and seared perfectly, saltiness offset aptly with delicious mango gel which we were delighted to see make a reappearance as an embellishnent to the deconstructed cheesecake. Quality of food, presentation, and location were all top quality. Delighted to see that buying the kitchen a pitcher of beer was an option on the menu, as the staff were all very hardworking, knowledgeable, and respectful. Hope to be back very, very soon!

I ate at Ocean7 restaurant this evening and I have to say I was sorely disappointed for such an expensive and fancy restaurant to have such poor service. I preordered my meal as they were quite busy and the wait for the table seemed like it could take forever. They said my order would take 40 minutes and I was fine with this as there wasn't any other choice. I suggested that if a table wasn't ready by the time my food was I would eat it in the garden. I waited ten minutes after I ordered and they let me know that they were going to open up one of the tables that had been sitting empty the whole time. A friend joined me and ordered. His food arrived and mine, which was ordered at least 15 minutes ahead of his never did. The staff had gotten confused and my order was not there. Other tables that had ordered way after me received their orders and I waited over an hour for mine. My friends meal went cold as he waited for mine to arrive. I mentioned the problem to a front staff member who was aware of the situation. At the end of the meal the waitress never asked if we wanted anything else and I had to go to the front to get my bill, which I was charged full price for. No offer was ever made to compensate for their mistake, very disappointing.

Roasted mushroom flat bread is marvellous. A pearl in the little town. Tina was my drink server. She was great. Korinna, my server, was very professional as well

This restaurant is the BEST part of the resort! Brunch is elegant, fresh, delicious. Dinner is spectacular - we had the large seafood tower, which with the seasoning and totally fresh seafood, we were in heaven! We eat a lot of seafood towers, and this has got to be one of the top 3 we've ever had. We learned the chef is a chilled seafood award winner, a number of years in a row! All our mains were fantastic as well - I had the scallops - perfectly cooked and seasoned. Plump and seared just right, and there were many scallops! Wonderful service. We had a blast! Thank you.

Wonderful resort and restaurant, on the water with incredible views of the BC's mainland. Food is fresh, fantastic in quality and presentation. Had a chance to try two different kind of fresh oysters, ended up having 3 dozen topped with freshly shredded horseradish and seaweed salad, what a great combo. Good fish and chips. Amaizing lemon tart with lavender ice cream for dessert ????. Staff is friendly and very helpful. And the walk around the property as well as access down to the beach after great meal is amaizing as the views are magnificent. Driftwood sculptures, family spots around glass firepits, and landscaping are all great. One thing we didn't like was the a few bright plastic trees in the garden. We realize they have Christmas type lights but the look so unnatural and really stand out not in a pleasing way. Thank you for your hospitality! We will definetly be back.

Ordered halibut cheeks and fries with coleslaw. It was very... meh. Edible but not delicious. The coleslaw had way too much lemon. The fries were too salty and limp. And the halibut cheeks were ok at best. Nice enough staff, nice looking restaurant. We are trying out the ocean 7 side tomorrow. I hope it's better.

First impression was excellent, with the friendly and welcoming invite from the maî·tre d'hô·tel. He made us feel at home, and was very attentive to our needs. We experienced the best service you can ask for. Brennan served us the first time. He was so friendly and considerate - we can tell he really cares for his customers. The executive chef's creations were out of this world. You have to order the mussels in green curry coconut sauce - I could have eaten two more orders of that...it was that delicious! To top that off, our server on our last night was top-notch. My wife forgot her mask at the restaurant. Our server came out and found us at the fire bowl. She told us they found my wife's mask and so they went and hung it at our hotel room door. That is definitely going above and beyond,. Thank you so much Noelle for the kind gesture! Great team you have at the restaurant and bistro. More power to all of you!!

We had time for both brunch and dinner here. Don’t be fooled, Ocean 7 and Aqua Bistro are the same place just different menus. We learned the hard way that reservations were critical. So if you want to enjoy fantastic drinks, amazing views, and delicious seafood, then book a reservation!

The food was truly incredible here, a great place to spend anniversary. The scallops, oysters and salmon were some of the best I have ever had. The drinks were very good as well. The table we were seated at was cramped and in a corner next to the kitchen even after a reservation days in advance. We waited some time for drink refills and service while waiting for our food. Overall I would highly recommend and think that if we were seated elsewhere we would not have had an issue.

All the ingredients were thoughtfully chosen and put together and the result was a beautiful marriage of flavours that made our taste buds extremely happy. We had dinner there last night. We were very disappointed. The rare tuna appetizer was cold and very acidic. The lamb meat was good however the side dishes were chopped up and pureed with too much acid. A big disappointment since being local we haveeaten there many times in the past.

I normally never provide google reviews but because the Kingfisher Resort nor Ocean7 Restaurant responded to my email concerns on our dining experience, I was encouraged by friends and colleagues to provide my disappointment in the Ocean7 Restaurant and our poor dining experience. We made reservations about 2 months prior to our arrival stay at the Kingfisher Resort for the evening of Monday, August 23 for 7 pm. The resort is amazing and haven’t stayed there since 2016 and had enjoyed our time there previously. We ate at the Aqua restaurant the evening of August 22 and it was actually lovely. Received a call in the afternoon of August 23 asking if we could move our dinner reservation at Ocean7 to 7:15 pm and we agreed. Upon arrival, our table was in the back in the furthest corner of the restaurant so the worst table in the restaurant considering we had reserved so far in advance. Took that in our stride. We had the same waitress from the evening before and she appeared efficient and pleasant but quite flustered. Wine and appies served fairly quickly and we placed our order with the waitress as soon as we received our bottle of wine so within 20 minutes after sitting at our table. Our main course did not arrive until 2 hours later (9:07 pm). I had ordered the Roasted Pacific Halibut dish which tasted rubbery, dry and overcooked and as though it had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time. My husband’s seafood pasta dish seemed fresher since it was pasta but he said it was just okay. When our waitress asked how it tasted, I told her my meal tasted overcooked and rubbery and she siad "oh it shouldn't be? The kitchen is overloaded tonight" and took my dish away saying she would get a Scallop dish instead. The Scallop dish had burnt cauliflower as part of it and lost my appetite by that point as already 9:30 pm (and not a fan of cauliflower). When the final bill arrived, the waitress charged us for both my dishes (original Halibut dish and then Scallops) and no offer was ever made to compensate for their mistake or offer of dessert etc. so very disappointing. My husband remarked we wouldn’t be paying for two dishes for me when the first dish was uneatable, and the waitress apologized and removed the first Halibut dish from the bill but we still had to pay for the Scallops which I never finished. All in all, probably one of the worst meals we’ve ever had and no offer of service to make it better. We will not go to Ocean7 again.

Nice hostess. Server was good. Went there for the view, wine and fresh oysters, as we were in Fanny Bay area. However, when we asked the server as to what oysters they were serving, she said she would check with the chef. The chef told her that he would not serve the oysters until 5pm with no reasoning as to why. It just seemed he had them and didn't want to serve them. Very disappointed as this was why we were there.

Such a fantastic spot at the Kingfisher Resort! This was our 2nd trip to this resort in 6 months and Ocean 7 never disappoints! Great cocktails and next level food! Night one, we enjoyed the wild mushroom ravioli and the Yarrow Meadows duck breast. The duck breast fish was exceptional! Melt in the mouth tender, flavourful with an amazing black sesame reduction, yuzu and sticky rice and duck leg dumplings! Highly recommend this dish. The next night we ordered from the bistro menu and thoroughly enjoyed the Kingfisher fried chicken with polenta fries and the Bistro burger! The polenta fries texture and flavour along with the fried chicken was sublime and the Bistro burger was the BEST burger I’ve ever had!! Packed with flavour, the honey cured bacon and grainy mustard added depth and sweetness to this fantastic sandwich served on a pretzel bun. I hate when a burger falls apart in your hands- this stayed together perfectly until the last bite! Cannot compliment the food here more! The only criticism I have is that the dining room lacks a little atmosphere or “buzz” and there are quite a lot of insects around the windows which should be addressed. Service was friendly, welcoming, and attentive.

My wife and I had a beautiful dinner, consisting of 3 courses oysters, mushroom ravioli, duck breast and lobster. As well as some wonderfully made cocktails, the food was amazing the ravioli with locally sourced mushrooms was an absolute delight and the duck was the best we have had. The cocktails were delicious and the service was excellent. We drove 4 hours for a night at the kingfisher but after this delightful dinner we would drive the 4 hours just for the meal.

The Green Curry mussels are probably one of the best mussel preps I've had ever. The curry is nicely balanced between flavor, heat and sweetness. The pickled vegetables add a nice contrast without being overpowering. The mussels were also cleaned well. The sausage platter was delicious as well. Focus on in house preparation of the majority of ingredients is evident and I will certainly be coming back here some day to try more.

For the price you pay the food isn’t spectacular. But the WORST was the slow service: we waited 20 minutes for a bottle of wine, one hour in the starters were served, we sat with empty dirty plates for 30 minutes. The mains arrived an hour and a half after we arrived. Nobody filled our wine or water glasses! The lobster risotto had a huge piece of bone in it (they comped it) But still for that price I expected A LOT more.

Had another late lunch at this amazing restaurant. Attentive but unobtrusive service, food that is consistently good. The view of the water is also incredible. We have celebrate many milestones here & highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking to have a romantic meal with the love of your life. ????

We came here for an appetizer and a beer for my birthday. I was disappointed that they put us in the back as it's really all about the view. Our waiter took a really long time to take our order and wasn't very efficient. We only saw him twice, once to take our order and once to deliver the bill. There were other staff members that dropped off food and the manager ( I think) came to talk to us. We love the calamari here! Just was disappointed with the service from our waiter.

Food is excellent and the bistro room and setting are very comfortable. Service is very good however the dithering at the door is terrible and for a no reservations bistro they need to up their game. I never feel welcome...I would eat in the dining room but it feels too formal. Ditch the white linen it's 2021.

Conflicting messages on website and then when phoning in about reservations. Dropped by and asked for bar since restaurant was packed. We hung around and when we checked back in we saw them seat a walk in at the bar. Won’t ever return (to be fair it won’t matter, place was packed and food is/was delicious).

Great atmosphere. First tastes...mussels were cold and wrong sides with entrees. Took about an hour for entrees for 5. They corrected order and was fine after that.
