As of day the firm gets a rating of 4.7 over 5 and that score was based on 127 reviews.
As you can see it reaches an feddbacks average is nearly the best one, and it is founded on a very high number of scores, so we can be quite sure that the assessment is very faithful. If many people have bothered to give their review when they are happy with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to set evaluations when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Winery is included in the category of Winery.
Pretty winery with a u pic picnic and flights. Great staff. Try L'Orange and loved the gamay.
Gorgeous little stop while touring Comox valley. Delicious whites from the on site vineyard and interesting reds made with grapes from the Okanagan. Tasting room and trails. Alana was helpful and knowledgable!
Private wine tasting, good company, informative & friendly staff, smell of the ocean, snacks and yummy yummy wine... need I say more?!
Amazing! So good! Had great time! So informative and entertaining. Love the wine wine, love the winery!!
Wonderful DOG FRIENDLY vineyard! Tasty wine tasting and left with a couple bottles and a doggie treat! Nice stopover for a road trip, with pups allowed inside ;) will be back again for sure
What an amazing place! The wine is great! The people are amazing and the service is fantastic! I highly recommend this winery
Beautiful property, super friendly staff. We booked a tasting and the set-up and the tasting itself was top-notch.
Wonderful patio to enjoy a bottle of wine!
Fantastic tasting room experience with knowledgeable, approachable staff. Megan’s familiarity with Frankenwein was a special surprise. Clean, fruity Ziggy & jammy Rosé were well-balanced but the no-oak-barred Alsatian-style Auxerrois was the runaway favourite. Pinot Noir paired nicely with a wonderful create-your-own picnic: don’t miss the pickled grapes! Wish we’d thought ahead to bring some local fruits & veggies to go with the lovely True Grain bread & Natural Pastures King’s Peak 40 Knots Chardonnay-washed house cheese! Gliders being towed into the circuit over CFB Comox (YQQ) were a nice touch.
Happened to be passing on the hwy: best impromptu stop ever! Great tasting! Will be joining the Wine Club back in Ottawa. Amazing place, great wines. Bravo!
Beautiful setting, very unique. Staff have excellent knowledge. No charge for the tasting but will be taking home a bottle for sure.
This little gem in the Comox Valley is a must-visit for locals and visitors alike. I first became aware of them when I was part of a charity golf tournament that they were sponsoring. I believe in supporting businesses that support community, so I made my first trip out there 4 years ago, and have been returning regularly ever since. The service is unfailingly friendly and welcoming. If you’re lucky, Layne the owner and winemaker will be around to give you some extra attention and wine education. I’ve sent many guests out there and they are always delighted with the experience. The new glassed-in patio is an over-the-top fabulous place to sit and enjoy good conversation, vineyard views, food and wine. The biodynamic farming practices here have resulted in some exceptional wines and many well-deserved awards. Don’t miss this one.
Fabulous tasting experience! Enjoyed all the wines. Alana was a very knowledgeable and friendly hostess.
Amazing wine tasting experience and beautiful place!
Visiting the winery was a great experience with the staff being very friendly and knowledgeable. They have an interpretive walk through the vineyard which was very enjoyable and informative. We actually liked all of the wines included in their flight. The prices for the bottles was reasonable and of good value. I would recommend stopping here if you are in the area.
Very relaxing atmosphere and very intuitive tasting experience. Great citrus wines, honestly can't go wrong with any of them, the selection has something for anyone. Options if you want to book or walk in. The gift shop area has some really unique stuff, the teas and body products are particularly interesting.
Loved the wines. Great setting on the terrace for food and a glass or two. What a treat. And the “granddaughter” gave us a great, friendly welcome. The picnic tool box... a creative idea. Feels like we’re sitting in The south of France. Loved the Ortega and the White seas ????. Will be back. Salut
Wonderful biodynamic winery. A gem of the valley! Must visit.
Such a great spot. Everyone is incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable, wines are very tasty and the boards are presented beautifully. The outdoor area is so lovely to sit and enjoy a glass of wine after a tasting. Highly recommend 40 knots.
Friendly knowledgeable staff and delicious wines.
One of the best wineries that I have been.. Place is clean and organized
Great wines, great atmosphere. The Chutney is so good.
Wonderful winery we discovered driving by. Their L'Orange is top notch. Carley is a very knowledgeable assistant wine maker.
Very impressed! Bought online, shipped quickly and fantastic wine! Crisp, little to no aftertaste. Highly recommend. Chardonnay and White Seas my favorite. Try it out people you won't be disappointed
Perhaps I've been spoiled by the upscale wineries, but that doesn't mean this isn't a gem. Unfortunately I didn't get to try the food, but it looks amazing. I did do a wine tasting; I am impressed by the fact they don't use sprays; it's old, European style...with ducks & hens pecking at the bugs in the vineyards; that was a HUGE selling point for me. My fave was the Chardonnay. A light crispy apple flavour. You can actually taste the fruit & not just sugar...another huge selling point for me. This wine begs to be opened on a hot summer day/night. I wasn't a fan of the others, but I'm not much into Rose & reds so much. Ps. The vineyard is charming & rustic- also seemed to be quite popular- (busy.)
40 Knots Winery is so beautiful and the staff is very friendly and amazing. White Seas wine is my favourite! Would highly recommend this winery!
We had a private wine tasting at the 40 Knots Winery for my bachelorette party. There were five of us and we had Char as our guide. When we arrived the initial view of the winery is just gorgeous. We proceeded upstairs to a balcony with some snacks (chocolate, cheese, bread, and other yummy snacks). The view was breathtaking!! Char is amazing: very knowledgeable, outgoing, and overal helpful. We’re now embarking on a little walk, with our wine, through the vineyard. I am not a huge wine drinker, but the ones we had today are delicious. If I could give them more stars I would ????
Outstanding wine, wonderful service, and if you're a wine need, ask to speak with Layne about varietals, terroir, yeast, and his fermentation process! I can't wait to come back!
Great Wine Wednesdays with food and entertainment.
Perfect summer moment - wine tasting and then we were surprised to an offer of warm baguette, local cheeses and a picnic out near the vineyard. Highly recommend stopping by right before lunch!
Took my sister (who was visiting me) to this winery. Had never been here before but I saw the reviews and I was excited about it. Well let me tell you it did not disappoint! We wanted a tasting, I never expect too much, this place is popular so I figured it would be a pretty quick experience. We went to the tasting bar and Layne the owner happened to be there and he was awesome! Entertaining and informative. Took his time with us. We learned so much. We sampled wine that exploded on our tastebuds. I had a problem I don't typically have- which one to buy??? We loved so many! Honestly, if you don't come here for a tasting you are missing out! If I lived in the area I would be begging to work here. Fantastic laid back atmosphere and the employees were also very cool people to talk to. If we didn't already have a lunch booked we would have sampled the food- next time! Layne- thanks so much for your time and energy- I really hope I see you again! Because I am coming back. You know it. Cheers!
What a little find. We had a picnic basket of delicious local cheese and smoked salmon on the terrace. Oh and the wines were delicious.
What a gem! I experienced the premium wine tasting and it was absolute perfection. The wine selection was wonderful, a lovely range from white to port. Some unique and surprisingly wonderful flavours! Ones I wouldn't have picked off of the shelf not having done a tasting, but now I will go back for more...again and again. I loved the food pairings with the wine; all local, organic and delicious! And the presentation of the wine was informative and woven with great stories. I'll bring visiting guests here for the experience from now on and I will also be back myself because 40 Knots is just that good! Support local, COVID recovery.
Tired of the Craft Beer scene. Well I am. 40 Knotts was always on my list and finally I stopped in. I'm glad I did. Had a glass on the patio. It was a quiet zen time. Listen to the bird, and watch the grapes grow. You owe it to yourself to pop in for a visit, you'll be glad you did.
Excellent wines, cheerful service, lovely surroundings.
We came here as a pit stop before going to a wedding on Quadra Island, and we will definitely be back! All the wines we tasted were fantastic, and Megan was extremely knowledgeable about the tasting notes of each of the wines we tasted.
Lovely. The outdoor tasting space is beautiful
Brenda and Layne are the greatest wine hosts of all time. As far as I know all the wine is vegan and every single one I've tried has been delicious. Have been a wine club member for over a year, it's a really great value for money, they even ship it to you for free if you're not from the area. If you're ever able to make it for a vineyard tour or wine class I absolutely recommend it. They also have a lovely venue for events like weddings, including a big prep kitchen and additional services. Also, Brenda and Layne are the cutest couple in Comox Valley. Support local delicious wine! Cheers.
We loved our visit here, every wine was beautiful. People friendly and very informative. We took a selection with us in the end. The Meritage is our favourite. We are also enjoying the L'Orange and the Pinot done in amphora. Thanks again, we hope to be back.
Stellar service by Meaghan, beautiful state. We arrived to look and ended up with a tasty, well informed sampling of several whites and reds. The L'Orange stood out, vatted in an imported Terracotta vessel, all parts of the grape in, leaving a seed dyed copper hue. On the roof, gentle tannins trace the swallow, dry yet the German fruit pops out. The 2016 Pinot Noir is one of the best representations of old world nose, PUNGENT, that could stand to be bolder though does a good job as is. The weight is light on the tongue, tannins delicate on the roof and even. The fruit is far from forward though it is there and it takes away from the finish as I am left with a slight sweetness in my mouth. I believe this to be of the quality to a French Burgundy or its Washington State cousin in the Willamette Valley. Comox Valley has temperate climate similar to those inland areas. The bottle may mateur a slight to dampen the fruit, but I am picky with pinots and this bottle is great at its value. Go!
Very disappointed. I booked a reservation for 4 people to celebrate my father who recently passed and was very unimpressed with their service and how my family was treated.
We stopped in to the tasting room on Dec 28 and had the loveliest time! We enjoyed the wines and the picnic so much that we signed-up for their wine club. Thank you - we'll be back in the summer to enjoy the patio!
You must experience 40 Knots when in the valley. What a beautiful place! The wine is fantastic too.
Great find. We were So pleasantly impressed with this vineyard, showed up late and had amazing service for great tasting wine. Highly recommended. Don’t miss out. Thx!
After hearing and seeing how they treat customers (and seeing all the email correspondence as evidence), I will not give any business or recommend 40 Knots Winery to anyone I know. They are pandemic profiteering and are a disgusting business. Shame on you for this and not honouring your pricing for weddings that had to be rescheduled due to the global pandemic.
I went to 40 Knots Winery for my birthday. It was amazing. The people were super friendly and the wine and atmosphere were memorable.
Great wines. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Beautiful grounds. So worth the trip.
I’m not one to take time writing negative reviews, but after leaving a wine tasting held here, my Mom and I felt disrespected and naive despite our not-too-shabby nor flaunted wine knowledge. Our host wasn’t warm, and wasn’t catering or welcoming to questions regarding wines. Also, after showing interest in purchasing some bottles to bring back to Toronto, the waitress wasn’t present or helpful and we had to chase her down and wait for her help. Unimpressed, sad to say. We won’t be back :(
We had an unexpected treat when we diverted from the planned day to drop by 40 Knots to check it out. The building promises a modern experience. And they delivered. Great outdoor seating, super helpful team members and some pretty good wines. Cool climate growing isn't easy stuff and most palates are learning about this category. We enjoyed the unique tasting flight presentation as well as the brand's sense of humour about wine as entertainment. Highly recommended if you are into wine and in the area... it may not be your usual flavour or typical expression but it's fun, it's fresh and it's well managed.
Great service and amazing wine.
Drove all the way from Parksville based on the reviews and it lived up to the hype. Megan was excellent, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The patio by the vineyard where we had our picnic and enjoyed our white sea wine was delightful. Definitely recommend the boerenkaas cheese and the the mustard lady hot pepper mustard. We will make this trip again next time we are on the island.
On July 31st we had our wedding at 40 Knots. We started making our plans two years ago to be married last year, but, due to covid we had to cancel our wedding last year to basically start the process over again. Very disappointing, but if it wasn't for Alana and her team at 40 Knots we never would have been able to have such a beautiful wedding. Alana was there for all our needs! If you are looking for a dream wedding, look no farther as 40 Knots ambiance for a wedding is scenic, romantic, full of love and happiness. The staff at 40 Knots were so cheerful, helpful, and they bent over backwards to ensure that our day was perfect. Their generous spirit made us feel like we were all family! Alana, we can't thank you enough for your support, kindness, and patience while working with us over the last two years. As I mentioned earlier, we gained a friend! 40 Knots you gave us our dream wedding!!!! We will always hold 40 Knots close to our heart. JeDi
Organic Island Winery with a broad selection of single grape and blended wines. Nice patio for dining and picnics.
A great visit. We left with a box of wine. We had our new puppy with us who was made very welcome with a fresh bowl of water and treats. Thanks Megan!
We came here on our family vacation and was pleasantly surprised with how beautiful the vineyards were! We did the wine tasting and they were all delicious. The staff was so kind and knowledgeable about all the wines, definitely beyond our expectations. We brought home the Carambolage as it was our favourite. Would definitely recommend this place to friends and family!
Amazing tasting room, lovely wines and Charlene has been a great host! I just wish Layne would make a small batch oaked Chardonnay!! That would make my day (as a local wine club member ????)
This winery has exceeded my expectations all the time. Not only it is a place for spectacular wines but the experiences they create are fabulous! I've been in this location to entertain my friends and clients and especially love their picnic and events and sketch classes but most of all the friendly atmosphere from the down to earth owners, Brenda and Layne. Highly recommended!
Nice little interpretive walk through the vineyard, then had a flight of whites at a nice patio table. Great place to stop before heading to the Ferry.
Excellent picnic lunch! White Seas to go with the lunch was fabulous. A must go to winery.
We recently held a Golden Wedding Anniversary party at 40 Knots Winery. We had the pleasure of working with Alana Johnson in Event Planning. She was fantastic...not a single request that she couldn’t handle. The staff that worked at our event were also very good. “The Terrace” is a wonderful location to hold a party..., twinkly lights, surrounded by the vines...and enjoying 40 Knots wine!!! Thank you, Alana, for helping us make this a special occasion for the anniversary couple.
I discovered this winery in september when visiting comox . Not only is the wine fabulous but the ladies working the tasting room were so knowledgeable and friendly! I will definitely return ! Thank you megan and paige!
Beautiful property with a charming tasting room. Had a lovely tasting of elegant whites, a rosé and rich, complex orange wine guided by a friendly, well-informed host. Well worth a visit.
I highly recommend 40 Knots Winery to anyone looking for a friendly, knowledgeable, serene experience! The owners and staff are very friendly, personable, and truly care about your experience! I enjoyed the outdoor seating during my time here and sampled four different wines before choosing to purchase a bottle to take home. Great price for the quality of the business, staff, and owners!
A wonderful experience! Alana, our host was informative and pleasant. The atmosphere of 40 Knots is calming and perfect for wine tasting. The wines were perfectly described. I hope to return but until then, a membership will be a must.
Beautiful winery with amazing wines! The staff were so friendly and welcoming, I only wish we had time to stop and enjoy the picnic lunch they offer!
I have been going to the 40 knot winery for many years,It always been an amazing experience! The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable I learn something new about wine every time I'm there!! Its the best place to have an event in the Comox Valley!!
Tasty wine, surprisingly good. Have not been able to find their wine elsewhere yet. Would definitely return here.
Great atmosphere and good wines. You can grab some cheese and bread to go with your wine tasting and sit in their expansive, covered "picnic" area.
Amazing Winery with fantastic service! The wine tasting was top notch and the food and the facility was extremely inviting and the staff was friendly and very helpful! Highly recommend as a stop if you are visiting Comox! We bought a case and several food items!
Always so much fun! Their wines are so delicious!!!!
My honey and i went to wine Wednesday it was great i am talking about the music Layne you did a great job i was want to say you guys are the best dance band i have heard for a long tim good for you guys
40 Knots is one of those places where you feel at home with family. 40 Knots wines rank with the best wines I have tasted around the world. If you like wine, it's worth a visit. If you have already been there, it's time to go back to see what's new.
Great winery with incredible staff and ambiance. The wine is delicious and can be enjoyed year round in the beautiful covered terrace. Well worth a visit, a must see winery on Vancouver Island.
Wine was delicious, service was delightful. Fresh baguette baked just for our picnic lunch! Charlene was fantastic!!
They walked us through an adventure of wine taste! They were very friendly and even had gluten free crackers to accompany our wine. I recommend joining their wine club!
The wines aren't my cup of tea, I'm not a big fan of Pinot, but the space and staff were amazing. I took my parents here on a wine tour of the valley and the whole experience was top notch.
Staff here is as amazing as the wines which is saying something! Thanks Alana and Megan for such a nice experience for my first of many visits to 40 knots winery.
Absolutely beautiful location and delicious wines. We really enjoyed the option to pair with charcuterie and cheese. All presented in a cute wooden hamper and the cheese and chutneys comes in full sized packets so you can take what you don't eat home. Suggest trying a white and red wine flight.
Allison walked us around the property today. We had fun laughing and learned a lot from her :)
Amazing and beautiful winery both inside and out. I've been here quite a few times and every time has been great. The wines are among the nicest i have had and the staff are always so welcoming, friendly and very knowledgable about their wines, Charlene and Alana are great to mention but a few names. Would recommend anyone to go visit and have a tasting.
Great wine and good service!
Megan was very friendly, and although short, the tour was quite informative. During the wine tasting, the wines were nicely presented, but I personally found them a little dry for my tastes. I'd suggest a tour/tasting option that considers a designated driver as most people drive to the winery.
Always a good decision to spend time at 40 Knots Winery, a real gem in the Comox Valley! Great wines; friendly, fun, informative staff; a beautiful setting; & dog friendly❣️ 40 Knots would not be what it is with out the hard work, vision and passion that owners, Brenda and Layne, have for their business and the community we share! Cheers ????????
Went there Friday evening as we are visiting from the Okanagan. Hostess was very rude. Made us feel unwelcome and was very unhelpful so we left empty handed. Apparently they are the only winery in BC that needs you to reserve for a wine tasting even though the wine shop was completely empty.
Interesting tasting , great info from owner , lovely picnic lunch on the patio with refreshing sea wind. Megan was our host server.
Had the chance to visit 40 Knots mid week on their Wine Wednesdays. Started the day with a nice wine tasting. The individual who walked us through was very knowledgeable. We then decided to stick around and enjoy their picnic offering. Request the mango chutney - delicious. Comes with a fresh baguette, cheese options, and nice meat selection. Highly recommend a visit.
Beautiful winery for spending a holiday afternoon at. The wine flights are a great way to get a taste of the different available wines and the picnic menu pairs perfectly. Highly recommend adding 40 Knots to your Comox Valley “must visit” list.
I can't say enough about this Winery. The owners and staff are absolutely amazing. So knowledgeable and friendly. We have been to several events and have truly enjoyed them all. We are in two of their clubs (cheese and wine clubs) and the selection is fabulous. We take our guests there for wine tastings or just enjoy one for ourselves. The star of the show is the wine. It is truly magnificent.
Amazing wine tasting experience
Large selection of wines to chose from, but no vintage wines. Hence all wines are young and missing the body that I generally like in wines. The Soleil sparking rose was a stand old as it was made champagne style. Long weekend crowd, so it was quite busy. With 2 pouring complimentary tasters, it went pretty smoothly.
Beautiful winery, even better wine. Best in the Comox Valley
We had a fantastic tasting at 40 Knots Winey. Great wine and snacks. Try the pickled on grapes!
Had a great experience at 40 Knots Winery for a bachelorette weekend. Char was so knowledgeable and friendly which really added to the experience. Would recommend for all to come check out the beautiful scenery and enjoy a fantastic selection of wines!
What a great place to visit! The winery is beautiful, the wine is delicious and the staff are very friendly! I would recommend booking a tasting if you are in the area
Love this winery! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. It’s wonderful you get an option of what you want in your picnic basket and your choice of where you want to sit and take in the amazing view with the amazing food and wine.
Had a great experience here. Very knowledgeable staff. Charlene taught me all about the different varietals and how they are being environmentally responsible in their production. A must-visit place if you’re in the area!!!
Great wine tasting experience!
Had a tasting and enjoyed it. Not too much verbiage. Also attended wine Wednesday. Great guitar by Anela. Buenisimo.
1.5.3.2.4.... on the Tasting! The Ziggy is spectacular with its rich grapefruit notes. The Stall Speed Meritage is rich and warm! Thanks for the special treatment, smiles and beautiful weather!????
I learned so much about the wines and how to serve them. Thank you Megan!! Great birthday experience for me!
Fantastic winery, with great wines and tasty snacks!
We always have the best times at 40 Knots Winery! The staff are always so welcoming and friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The wine selection is amazing, the property is out of this world - gorgeous and the owners are some of the nicest and hardest working people we know. We're looking forward to going to many more events here!
The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly! An absolutely amazing view driving in, and well kept facility. The wines are delicious. I’m a fan of lighter whites, and reds. Decided to buy a bottle each of their Ziggy, and Explosive Red. Erik Timmer
Booked our wedding in October 2019 for July 2021. Unfortunately had to cancel due to covid and move to next year. After giving us assurances if we had to postpone that they would be happy to either refund our deposit or change the date they are now trying to charge us an extra $2000 due to increased demand. Then followed a very unpleasant and unprofessional phone call from the owner, Brenda, who stated that I had been, "very unpleasant from the start" even though my fiance was the one dealing with her. Also, after I said I was going to leave a negative review because of my unpleasant experience she said she was going to, "leave me a couple too"? All in all, I very disappointed with how this place does business.
It was just okay. Went there as part of a tour of several wineries but this was the only one that didn't wow us at all (other than the pretty landscape). Staff were friendly but didn't really seem too interested in the people there for tastings. Poured the wine a d walked away. All other places took time to tell us about their wines and about their history. And the food was terrible. Not in taste but in style. They hand you a list to check off what you want to eat for your 'picnic'. But they don't really tell you that the cheeses are whole wheels of cheese and the smoked salmon is just a can of salmon handed to you. No presentation at all. Not even a fork to take the salmon out of the can with. And they were out of a lot of items. So basically we ended up with a $9 baguette cut in 2, 2 blocks of cheese and a can of salmon. They were out of chutneys, jams and the only other meat, pepperoni. For such a nice winery I would have assumed that you could at least present the salmon in a dish and not just handing us a can off the shelf of your gift shop. I mean I know you want people to be able to eat anywhere in the vineyard but we said we were eating inside. It would have been nice to actually enjoy the experience. Very disappointed.
Beautiful place to visit! Wine tasting excellent, picnic lunch was very nice. Will be back!!
Great wines! Beautiful tasting room. Friendly service. All around beautiful place to visit. Thanks!
40 Knots is a beautifully landscaped, elegant winery with a exceptional experience. The wine tasting was both educating fun! The wine here, especially the Spindrift Brut in my opinion, in amazing and a must have! Would do this experience again and again on every visit. Thank you 40 Knots!
Beautiful day, great wine and service, highly recommended. Go for the picnic basket.
Charlene was Great! Explained the wines beautifully and even let us try a couple that weren't on the days menu.
Love this place! Family owned business, beautiful friendly people with an amazing business model. Bring wine making back to it's natural and trully organic state.
Beautiful setting. Loved the picnic option showcasing Vancouver Island treats.Thank you Megan for a delicious and informative tasting.
Amazing views, wine and people! Absolutely stunning, a real gem in Comox.
Beautiful winery, fantastic wines and friendly and super nice service! Had a great time tasting all the yummy wines! Thanks!
What a lovely experience. Our host Charlene was very knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed our tasting...and buying experiences! I will be back, I am a fan
Great experience and quaint wineries with yummy wines! Thanks Alana
Lovely place. Great wine and staff! They welcomed us & our dog warmly. ????❤️ The wine ???? was very reasonable & the warm baguette ???? and cheese ???? were very tasty. Looking forward to our next time! ????
I’ve had exceptional service from everyone at 40 knots. It is my favourite place to go unwind and drink outstanding wine. All the ladies are fabulous for the tastings! I had my last one with Allison, she was amazing! I can’t wait to visit 40 knots again!
We had a great tasting! Delicious wine, friendly staff. Charlene and Megan were very knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
What a fantastic surprise. Very nice patio overlooking the vinyard.
