My friends and I had the pleasure of visiting Yai Sou for a Saturday lunch. It was an impromptu visit, my friends had visited before and highly recommended it. They weren't wrong. The menu is jam packed with mouthwatering Greek dishes, and all seem to come with a choice of salad. I opted for the moussaka with a Greek salad, and I was not disappointed. Everyone had main dishes with salad, and we enjoyed a bottle of red wine and some beer. For the 4 of us the bill came to CAD170 with tip. That's slightly pricey, but well worth it. There is no question if I will be back again or not, that's a firm yes!

Food is delicious, portions are really, really big, atmosphere is amazing. Price is okay for what you get (good food, service). I tried the fried zucchini (basically zucchini tempura with tzaztiki dip), Cretan Moussaka (eggplant/mince lasagna without tomato) as well as the baklava cheesecake and they were all absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend!

Highly recommended Greek restaurant. No significant negatives. Service: 4.5/5: Excellent prompt and attentive service with waiters/waitresses who also check up on how you're enjoying you meal after you've had a chance to taste it. Only downside is that nobody took our coats or told us there was a place to hang them (it's oddly placed). Location: 4/5: 5 minute walk from Snowdon metro station (orange line) and parking is decent. However access from the Decarie highway is not the best. This is also not the busiest area, which is nice, but you must drive through busy areas to get here. Food: 4.5/5: Very authentic and tasty Greek food with a menu that has a good variety and choices. Generous portions, with the minor drawback that unless you order olives on their own, they skimp on them. House wine is very well paired with the food. However, the water served with the meal was not good. To get decent water here you need to buy bottled water. Atmosphere: 5/5: Classy, nice booths, good lighting, Greek music. Cleanliness: 5/5 Price: 5/5: The price here is a bit more than an average restaurant, but considering the high quality of the food, the generous portions and the service, I think it's appropriate.

We went as their website said they have the best souvlaki in town by CTV. We love greek food and tried many in town from cheap to five stars. This one is like a chain restaurant for quality of food. Tomatoes were mushy, feta was too dry, herbs were stale, cucumber had frozen marks...souvlaki were alright. I have greek friends, they brought me to better ones than this.

I love love love this restaurant. I have been there several times in big groups and small. I have recommended this place to several people and they feel the way. Yia Sou always provides a great atmosphere. The restaurant is great for girls nights, date night and so much more. The food is always quick to arrive, plentiful and delicious. Endless pita is such a great touch. We often order several smaller plates and share the spread the covers the table. Friendly staff provides great service and I’ve always left happy!

Pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. The food was very good and the portions were big. I unfortunately filled myself up on the fresh toasted pita that was brought to our table. The gyro and tarama were very good although the tarama should spend less time in the blender. Soup and horiatiki were great as well. Would definitely go back. Decor was surprisingly nice as well!

Been there twice. First time was there for supper on birthday with family. Fried calamari was literally THE BEST I’ve had. But main course - chicken with jumbo shrimp was a big letdown. Chicken wasn’t marinated well so it’s bland. The second time we only ordered appetizers. Fried calamari was ok but not as good. Trinity spread wasn’t good.

My wife and I had the pork skewer with a Greek salad and fries. Our daughter had the chicken skewer with cedar salad and fries. Both meat dishes were very good. But the frieze was awesome. Wenn man aus der Metro kommt kann man sich nicht vorstellen dass hier ein gutes Restaurant zu finden ist. Aber in Montreal wechselt sich von Block zu Block alles ab. Meine Frau und ich hatten den Schweinespiess mit griechischem Salat und Fries. Unser Tochter hatte den Hühnchenspies mit Cedarsalat und Fries. Beide Fleichgerichte waren sehr gut. Der Hammer aber waren die Fries. Die waren wohl selbst gemacht und waren etwas breiter als üblich.

Yia Sou Greek Grill How does survived in this location where are many restaurants 1 after the other have failed! So they must be doing something right. With a good choice of menu possibilities, one will be pleased with all the choices. The service is excellent and the restaurant itself as well appointed. It's actually a very large place and it's quite attractive. From boosts two tables to Fronteras in the summer there's many ways to enjoy this restaurant. The food is consistent although not gourmet, it is certainly good and everything is possible and some of it is great! The plates that we had who ain't nobody called to do lunch please us both. I went for the lamb and he went for the chicken. I found the lamp to be excellent. Lamonda skewer and he had the chicken on this key work with a full plate including salad potatoes rice etc. We both chose the soft drink and the bill was under $20. With the level of service we received although it wasn't too busy that day because you couldn't even walk on the sidewalk due to snow, we were both pleased with food and service and the nice booth where we were seated. The cellar that served us has been there for a number of years and he knows his stuff and he make sure you're taken care of quickly. That is very much appreciated especially when I meet there for a business lunch marketing by financial institutions for me as an independent broker to use their services. In fact, about eight years ago I threw a big birthday party for myself was everybody on their own ticket and there were about 30 people and they were going to arrange the tables in rows, for this Sunday night celebration. I asked him to do it in a you shape and we came up with closer to bent out of shape with an opening and we were able to seat everybody on both sides alternating and it was a great way to have communications and contacts with almost everybody left right front back etc. The restaurant was most accommodating. Although for 30 people and they knew it they might have brought in another waiter, but the evening. Went off very well and the service was sufficient much to everybody surprise. The food has never been disappointing but it is never being the Ritz-Carlton. It's a very good and consistent quality that's always fresh enough and grills on the spot, it seems to me. Having lasted over eight years at this location and clearly longer, they must be doing something right in order to pay the steep rent that they are charged. All other previous restaurants looks like they opened up for a last time just to post a bankruptcy notice 6 months later and who knows what they were up to but that went on for years with many different restaurants. So we were surprised , everybody was, when this restaurant was here to stay, year after year Good food that is consistently qualitative, with good service, and the choice of seating within quite a nice environment. It's pleasant and it's tasty and it's reasonably priced and it's a place that you can count on. I hope there will be there for many years to come because we need a place like this on the streets that has so many turnovers of restaurants and stores. Located west of Décarie, about one and a half blocks down the streets of Queen Mary Road, it's a great location for a little then you have a bit of everything from coffee shops to fruit stores to dry cleaner to flowershops to several Banks, clothing stores and more. Yia Sou Greek Grill is now an important part of the community, and in fact, it is my community. ????????????

Waitress removed the platter without an apology, without an offer to replace the meal. (The restaurant paid for the meal but failed to communicate to us that they were going to.) I was chased off the terasse by aggressive wasps. I had to carry my own platter into the restaurant to escape them.

Hands-down the best tzatziki in Montreal. I've been to eat there only two or three times, but I order from them fairly regularly and I'm never disappointed! Best souvlaki I've had, huge portions, so be sure to be *really* hungry - hard to finish the plate! The service at the restaurant is great, and the food is even better on-site than delivery (even bigger portions!), and that is saying something. One of my favourites.

Disappointed. Yia Sio has been out go-to Greek resto in NDG for years but we just came back to it post-pandemic. We ordered the cold pikilia for delivery. All 4 dips were in the same container, so became all mixed together (and it didn’t help the delivery guy was sprinting down the hallway). The red pepper and feta dip was way too spicy and just tasted of raw garlic. The bean salad was in it own tipper ware but the whole outside was covered in oil. For what we paid, we are just left unhappy. Mostly of the flavours were as we remembered, but the rest has us thinking we may have to move to. A new Greek go-to.

Food quality was very good, would give it an overall of 4/5, avoid French fries and get Greek potatoes instead. Portion is quite sufficient. Unfortunately I didn’t get the name of the gentleman who served us, he was professional and friendly. The place is a bit pricey though, comparing to peers -Marathon for example-, but the food quality makes it worth it. The atmosphere was pleasant, Greek folk music in the background was lovely. We were there in a very quite time, 3:40 pm, I guess to make a kind of 100% solid review our next visit should be on a busier/rush time.

Honestly this is my favorite Greek restaurant in Montreal. I've eaten from here probably close to 100 times over the years, mostly from take out. My god. The pitas are insane here. Starting off with the pitas, the bread has a great texture, some nice crispy black char spots, and the flavor is perfect. The tzatziki sauce is the star of the show. It's so good in fact that I can't help but just open my pitas and dip my fries in the overflowing sauce until it's all gone. Let's talk about the meat. Pork is a solid choice for souvlaki. Grilled to perfection and marinated beautifuly. Personally though, in all about the authentic gyro (or platter). This meat. It's tender, juicy. It's intense. Perfect acidity, deep flavors. I couldn't be more happy with this place. The steak cut fries are also a nice touch. Thick patates tabarnak. So? What are you waiting for? Go! Now!

Huge portions of great food. I got their 2 gyro pita plate (24$), which came with fries, rice, tzatziki and a choice of soup or salad. They give complementary pita and butter before your meal. Their pita is so soft and chewy; really the best pita I've ever had! Service is quick and friendly. They have a pleasant outdoor terrace for warm days. The menu is extensive and authentic. There are also many vegetarian options. There is a selection of delicious desserts as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Yia Sou is my go to place on Queen Mary Road. My wife and I have been dining there since it opened. The service is friendly and efficient. The menu has many delectable choices. The portions are very generous and most importantly the food is delicious. Last night my wife and I both chose the authentic Gyro platter which we thoroughly enjoyed and finished to the last crumb. I highly recommend Yia Sou if you enjoy great Greek food.

We have been coming to Montreal each August for vacation every year for a while now, and we discovered Yia Sou several years ago after we learned that a Greek restaurant we used to frequent had closed. We've been coming ever since! The food is fantastic, and the service is friendly and efficient. We love the tsaziki and the saganaki flambe for appetizers. I've had their lamb, chicken souvlaki and grilled shrimp, and each has been tender and tasty. I prefer to get the grilled vegetables instead of rice and potatoes because the veggies are so darn good. Dinners come with a generous side salad. They have several choices, but we always get tje Greek salad -- it's fresh, crisp and very flavorful. If you are a Greek food fan, you will enjoy Yia Sou. We never have enough room for dessert, but their choices all look wonderful! One of these days...

Yia Sou is our favourite restaurant, hands down. Their food is fresh and delicious, and their tzatziki is the BEST! Thick, creamy, and garlicky. They just renovated the interior so it's really beautiful inside, and the patio is great in the summer. We go here for a relaxed date night, and we also bring our in-laws here when they visit. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of your meal, and they have inexpensive menu items too (check out their pork/chicken souvlaki pita for $6-7). They also deliver!

Went over the weekend with friends for the first time. Their terasse has very little lighting but overall an amazing experience. I ordered their chicken gyro plate with rice and their awesome potatoes and I think it was the best gyro I've ever had. The greek salad was also good, but pina colada came in a weird glass that seemed small for the price. Food and service was excellent, our waitress was funny, pleasant and accommodating. Definitely recommend this place!

It's a good Greek restaurant very reasonably priced considering the quality of the food. I went this week and they accomidated a group of 10 efficiently. The happy hour drinks were well priced and they dont cheap out on the liquor in the mixed drinks. The food, desserts and drinks were all delicious. If I had to complain the waiter was good but not great.

Just tried to place an order for delivery. Was told that their radius is 4-5 km and I am 5.5 km away, and so delivery was declined. I explained that I'm pregnant and would really appreciate it if they made an exception, since we are not that far outside their delivery zone. I even offered to pay a delivery fee, and I was still turned down. Really disappointing - I'm sure there are other great restaurants that would appreciate the business and would be willing to make a small exception to please their customers.

I love this place!!! Authentic greek food, that isn't just fast food and gyros. Whenever someone mentions to eat Greek, I always recommend Yia Sou. Their portions are generous, the food is perfectly simple and cooked nicely,there are a lot of options, including for vegetarian. And their ouzo lemonade is heavenly!!! My friend driving even asked after "was there alcohol in that at all??" I laughed out loud!!! Because he was tipsy and didnt even notice it was hard alcohol. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal :)

This is my go to place for greek food. Having been to Greece, nothing I ate there compared to this restaurant. Their staff is also great. Make sure you go to the restaurant though, don't order. Everytime I do, my food is always cold... and I live 500 meters away!!

Terrible experience and extremely poor customer service. We ordered food on April 11th trying to support local businesses like Yia Sou and it took 1h 50 minutes for delivery. This is completely unacceptable!! The dining room is closed and they can't deliver orders on a timely basis. We called to check on our order twice and the manager was extremely rude. We were regular take out and dining room customers and now we'll never go back because of their poor attitude and terrible customer service. Absolutely awful!

It is sad because I found out about this place last year. The food is absolutely delicious. Last year we had the best service someone could ask for. This time we had 3people serve us. A tall girl with black hair a shorter girl with blondish hair and a dude but all three were unpleasant unprofessional and just seemed to be fed up of being there. First off our waitress was amazing. Remembered everything without taking note! We shared a Cold Pikilia from their cold appetizers, the taramosalata was a least favorite but the rest was delicious. I have been to Estiatorio Yia Sou twice now and the Food and Service is consistently excellent. Our waiter is funny, charming, and knows the menu to a T. We have brought our 3 year old with us both times and the restaurant really knows how to work to the needs of children. We have always brought a large group of family with us and everyone has ordered something different. Everyone loved the food and we had to sample each others' plates because everything was so yummy. We also order delivery from this restaurant quite frequently and it always gets to our house hot and delicious. The standards for quality food are high regardless of whether you are eating in the restaurant or at home and we need more places like this in Montreal! We'll be back next month!

My Greek friends have been ranting and raving about this place for years. The opportunity came this weekend when my husband asked me where I wanted to go for my birthday dinner. Needless to say, my friends were absolutely right. My moussaka was fresh and amazing, and my husband said his lamb chops were the best he has ever had. act that it was busy the food came pretty quick but my steak (medium) was more like well done . My girlfriend had a cease chicken salad and when I went to grab a bit I lifted a piece of lettuce and there was some sort of spotted bug in the salad ! Cross my heart hope to die . I know you always see this in a movie but I swear it happened to us . I couldn't believe it . So I call the waiter over and show him . I'm expecting the owner to come and apologize cuz the waiter did say he would go talk to him .anyways e guy comes back with a new salad we continue our dinner. It comes time to pay the bill and again I'm expecting some sort of compensation. NOTHING. So I say something and they come back with a 15 decrease in proce AND the owner didnt even have the PROFESSIONAL courtesy to come apologize for the BUG IN MY GIRLFRIEND'S SALAD .

For anyone who likes Greek food, I highly recommend this place for lunch. They have a linch special menu which includes a main dish, soup or salad, and a basket of bread. The bread was warm and soft when it arrived making me think it was recently baked. The soup I got was the best lentil soup I ever had because each individual lentil was fully cooked and soft without leaving hardened bits on my teeth. I got the authentic gyro plate in a pita and it was delicious. The meat was very tender in a soft pita, the fries were perfectly cooked with just enough crispyness. And the price is very reasonable for a meal that will fill you up. For my plate, it was about $16 including tax and tip. I have not tried coming here outside of lunch so I do not know how the price is at that time.

My wife and I enjoy Yia Sou a lot. We have been going since it opened up on Queen-Mary. We usually have gyros, souvlakis, salads and the spanakopita. The food is delicious and the can prepare the meet according to your preferences. We also order take-out from time to time. They stay in touch via email and offer small discounts for father's day. mother's day and on your birthday. They make a real effort to ensure you have a pleasant evening.

We have been to Yia Sou many times and found the food to be excellent! The portions are large and very tasty and the service is excellent. It is advisable to make a reservation a day or two in advance, especially for a Saturday night. One of my favourites is their homemade Moussaka. Their desserts are also great if you are not too full. We came based on the reviews posted but we did not find that the reviews reflected the actual quality of the food at this restaurant. Quantity does not equal quality. The food came cold . We had to find someone to warm it up which took a while. The salad is fresh but tasteless. Very little olive oil. The mousakka was good but the chicken souvlaki spanakopita and the lamb chops were just very average. After all this you made a mistake on the bill . You corrected it but this also shouldn’t have happened. The server did try his best and was professional and courteous.

The place was not busy at all for Saturday lunch, maybe 3 tables occupied and we were table of 8. We waited 1 hr for our main meal to arrive. Other tables were served pretty quickly. My pork souvlaki pita had a strange lamb flavor. Maybe the meat was grilled next to lamb or on same grill.

(Translated) It's famous, so I stopped by my son yesterday and bought the Grilled salmon and Mixed grill platter. The salmon was just plain, and the Mixed grill platter was leftover even after 4 people ate, and the next 4 people ate it for lunch.. I thought it was expensive because the price was around $90, but after trying it I thought it was absolutely not expensive.. I like it, but I really liked the harmony of the flavor and seasoning of the meat.. I plan to buy more in a different kind next week. It's a pity that I found out about this restaurant late. I just wish the staff were more friendly.. (Original) 유명하다해서 어제 아들과 함께 들러 Grilled salmon과 Mixed grill platter를 사봤습니다. 연어는 그냥 평범했고 Mixed grill platter는 4인이 먹고도 남아 그다음 점심으로 4인이 또 먹었네요..가격이 90불대여서 비싸다는 생각을 했으나 먹어보고 절대 비싼게 아니라는 생각이 들었어요.. 전 불맛을 좋아하는데 고기에 불맛과 양념의 조화가 정말 좋았어요.. 다음주에 다른종류로 더 사먹을 계획입니다. 이 식당을 늦게 알게되어 아쉬울 뿐이네요^^ 단지 직원이 좀더 친정했으면 하는 아쉬움이 있습니다..
