Very beautiful restaurant staff super kind and very attentive . Focaccia bread amazing ! Then comes the mains, steak was not 10 ounces was under cooked sent it back was over cooked and portion of sides was a few potato's 60$ later I was still hungry ! Buddy's pasta dish very watery and the gnocchi very over cooked and blah hopefully they have better nights it's a beautiful restaurant !

Went to the restaurant yesterday ( Tuesday) and got there at 8:30, the hostess just sat another couple as we were walking in. The hostess said the kitchen staff had left, that she takes the last table an hour before the restaurant and that the couple right before us was aware of this. ( that would make sense if it was 9:00pm but it was only 8:30) also If the kitchen staff left how is this table being served food when they are being sat at 8:30pm. Terrible service! Don’t understand why last seating is at 8:30 When you close at 10, seems like your hostess wanted To get home early.

Nice setting, disappointing, tasteless food and average service. Had the panzetta salad.. tomatoes (in season) were mushy and flavorless and basic croutons had not absorbed any of the dressing (which was lacking deep olive oil flavor/ was overly acidic). Squash pasta was light on flavor and touch around the edges . Go for a drink to enjoy the square and eat elsewhere for dinner.

This place is all about location! It is at a major attraction area. I went there with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. The service was a bit slow but the waitress was very respectful and courteous. The food was not the best, I had the grill octopus and it came a bit overcooked and too oily.

If you are in the market for Italian food in the old port, this is a great option. My family and I had a wonderful dinner at Jacopo. We had a high top table right next to the bar so we could see the bartender churning out great cocktails. My personal favourite dish was the burrata which was recommended by our server. With that said it was all delicious.

very nice setting but not the best food. i had the brown butter pasta, she had panzeta salad. pasta was undercooked but the sauce and the rest of the flavor were really good. panzeta was apparently not made properly and didn’t have the best flavor.

As first time visitors to Montreal we truly enjoyed this gem of an Italian restaurant. Our server, Brandon, was exceptional delivering class A service and very personable as well, making our experience delightful. Our appetizer of meats and cheeses and entrees of freshly made squid ink pasta with calamari were exceptional. We felt like we were in Italy! Jacopo is a must try!

Extremely far from the Italian kitchen. The rice in my risotto was undercooked and mushy, tasteless and cold, the fish was a tiny piece of an unknown kind, no mushrooms, no truffles as advertised. The spaghetti carbonara were too salty with 3 stripes of some kind of meat-like product, the gnocchi for my children tasted like a noodle soup from a 2 year-old can, my sangria was supposed to have a portion of martini, not just ice and 2 cherries, the octopus was very small. I will propose to the head office of Google to include negative star evaluation. I guess the good reviews are due to the many friends of the owner, I can't imagine someone could like the food let alone call it Italian! On top of everything we waited for the food for an hour, the food came cold besides the promise of the waiter that our meals are being cooked right at this moment! Needless to say that I will no longer be sponsoring the extravagant hobbies of the owners. I understood what a classic tourist trap is!

I just had to share my positive experience at Jacopo because our waiter Peter was one of the best I have ever had. He was friendly and so attentive to our needs, it's rare you see this kind of attention from restaurant staff these days. Everything from noticing our empty water bottles and asking if we needed a refill to bringing us two card machines to speed up paying our bills. Thanks for making our day, Peter!

WOW! This was our first time coming to Montreal, and I am so happy we came to this place. The manager, Brandon, was amazing! Our food was taking a long time to arrive due to the restaurant being understaffed, but he offered more wine, extra bread and a cheese plate on the house. And we didn’t even have to ask! Nice restaurant with a cozy terrace....we went there on a monday and it was pack when we left around 8pm. Sampled a few dishes,the veal chop was tasty and fried calamari crispy as it should. Service were courteous and professional. Many places to choose from in old Montreal but I'll would definitely go back!

Excellent service and special shoutout to Peter for making our experience a memorable one. He took the time to tell our group that they were quite busy that evening and that it may take a while between appetizers and main courses. I very much appreciated the heads up rather than waiting with no warning or feeling like our server forgot about us. The foccicia bread they give you to start was excellent. The appetizers and main courses were quite good but portion sizes were small. Also, I ordered the Pasta Magherita- very good flavors but needed a lot more sauce, there was hardly any at all so that was my only complaint really. Would still give them 5 stars as the service was deserving but just wanted to share suggestions for the restaurant as well.

A good Italian restaurant in the old montreal area. Decent wine list. Sampled a bunch of items from the menu. The octopus entree was spectacular. The lamb shank entree was quite good, though some of the other elements of the dish could use a bit of improvement. Although we didn't sample the desserts, the kids seemed to enjoy them!

They had me at ‘Focaccia.’ Amazing new restaurant in Old Montreal, a proper modern Italian resto in heart of Old Port, much needed. Great space upstairs too for groups.

I spotted the restaurant on my way home at night, decided to give it a try with friends the next day. It turns out to be a brilliant choice, everyone loved it! We loved the freshness of the seafood dishes (the calamari was cooked perfectly), and they don’t tasted salty, kids approved.

Decent vibe and wine collection but the food overall is underwhelming (for the prices they’re charging). They served us pana cotta topped off with olive oil & a basil leaf instead of traditional vanilla syrup. The server did apologize but dint offer to take that item of our check or offer some discount. (We dint ask for that either, but this should be a gesture offered by the staff) There are definitely much better Italian restaurants in Montreal!

Brunch is wonderful, very unique and delicious take on conventional fair. I would/will strongly recommend anyone who considers themselves a foodie, to giving this place a try. Forget the “tourist trap” idea, it’s not! Regardless, in general Montreal has very high quality food standards and is fairly priced when compared to other large Canadian cities. Jacopo is no exception! For the Instagram Review critics, the food photographs well enough, it’s presented on very traditional and European manner. If you could capture taste in an image, this would be a perfect addition to your IG collection. Bon appétit!

Fantastic dinner and great service! We just stumbled upon this Italian restaurant in Old Town. The patio was full but the inside seating was cozy and romantic. The menu appeared to be authentic Rome Italian fare. And we were not disappointed! Everything was delicious. And for dessert we had the home made tiramisu. My wife doesn't drink coffee, but tasted this and ate more than her fair share!

Great location, and surprisingly not busy - though we went on a weekday and it was freezing outside. Interior is what you would expect from a mid-range restaurant: pretty clean and welcoming ambiance, good for a couple anniversary dinner, a friends outing or even a small event/celebration. In fact there was a small birthday gathering on the day I went. I'm not exactly the biggest gourmet, but the food seemed good - especially the calamari, yum! Home made pasta wasn't my favourite - although my fault - ordered Carbonara and the ham was a bit too punchy to my taste. Definitely ask for wine recommendations, staff is well trained and can give much needed advise. Service was reasonably fast and accurate. Highly recommend!

We arrived a bit earlier then our reservation but they were able to seat us right away. We sat at the patio and the heaters were definitely helpful. The food was great! Only thing was we waited 40mins for our mains after being served the appetizer. We asked the waiter and he bought out the food right away, which makes me wonder if they had forgotten? But in any case, definitely worth the wait!

Worst restaurant I have experienced in Montreal. Food was very bland, sausages were tasteless. Dessert was way worse than what I could buy at any grocery stores. Only good thing about this place is the decor and location but way too pricey for the quality. Portion are smallish but the taste is so bland that it's almost what you are wishing for.

That Particular corner of Montreal is a well-known tourist trap area so my expectations were low when I made the reservation but a few of my friends told me the food was good so I gave it a chance . Highly recommend coming to the area by foot. Depending on time and day, finding a spot to park on the street can be nerve racking.

Was disappointed since I came specifically for the Pane dorato (French toast) on the brunch special, which was the only item on the menu they didn't have. Despite that, the service I had was wonderful. The pasta carbonnara was nice and salty, lacking a bit of liquid though as it was a bit dry. The supplì was nice and crispy, packed with tasty mozzarella and a very nice marinara sauce. You can ask for complimentary focaccia bread and I must say that it was delicious: super soft and airy topped with lots of rosemary spices. Overall a bit expensive, but still good.

Went there on a Thursday (October) if was very calm. Half full, mostly older crowd like baby boomers and some families. I was surprised it wasn't the young professionals but this is probably because it just got cold. Super well located, just opened in May. Finally a good restaurant in the square, that locals would go to. I recommend this place. It's nice inside, very trendy, muted art deco style. The middle table towards the back though, I'm not sure what was going on with the air but it was FREEZING, we asked to move and then we were fine. Service is good but now what we all really care about, the food. Food was amazing. The only thing I was dissapointed with was the entrée basket focaccia (you get this free), lacking flavor, a little stingy on the rosemary. The olive oil balsamic was really good though. We shared a platter of charcuterie and cheese. They age the charcuterie themselves and cut it. We had an Italian with us and she approved the prosciutto was delicious. The calamari was perfect as well, not chewy, tasty. The Aranccini was good though we were so consumed with our other plates. We then had the pasta with speck and carbonara. Both really good. Home made pasta. The carbonara, though delicious, was more on the cheese side than the egg side so it was a bit thicker than what a carbonara is supposed to be. All in all, I'll be going back again.

Had drinks and appetizers while exploring, was a very nice place. The sangria was delicious and the fried calamari was just the way I like it, crispy and well seasoned. The dip to go with it was also tasty. I would recommend stopping if you like drinks and food ???? the indoor eating was mostly closed, but there is a beautiful upstairs to dine in or host events. Went there a couple times with friends, we sat at the bar every time and lucky us, were taken care of by Charles. He made us custom cocktails that were nothing like we tasted before. Went to this restaurant recently on my trip to Montreal. The atmosphere was great! As well as the service we received from Brandon was incredible. He was very attentive and recommended a great wine for us to enjoy. If you get the meat and cheese plate, I highly recommend to get the truffle honey as well, it absolutely changed my life. This place is very well decorated and the employee are amazingly friendly. I gave 3 stars for many reasons: i ordered cappuccino that was really a small cup, cream more than coffee. Orange juce is not fresh! The plates are really tasty but the presentation was normal. The worst thing was that we had a table near the bar, and our drinks were given from the bar man on the side, it is like, u decide the drink is for whom. Drink service was horrible. Knowing that we are in a fancy place, this is not acceptable. I was celebrating my birthday and I was disappointed.

We came here for dinner on a Wednesday evening following a friend's recommendation, but we were not impressed with the experience at all. As soon as we were seated, it felt like we were being neglected by the server - we were almost ready to flag down the hostess to ask who our server was. We got our entrees more than an hour later only after asking our server to check, all while watching other guests being seated, served, and finishing before we even got our food. Our server didn't offer any explanation. Rather than enjoying the food and ambience, we spent most of the almost 2 hour dinner wondering where our food was.

Attended an engagement party in the small reception hall upstairs. It was a rustic kind of vibe and the seating area was in a solarium. The washrooms were clean and so was the general restaurant. The food checked off the boxes. The aranchinis and octopus were very good. Would definitely go back here to experience the overall menu. As for covid checks, they require vaccination confirmation which made the experience feel safer and more comforting for us.

Bad smell, disgusting taste and chewy cold steak. Dried sauce and blown carbonara. It was as if they brought something cooked long ago, It looked and tasted like eating food waste. I'm an Asian who doesn't speak English well and I just hope our food doesn't differ from other customers. Because their food and service was very different from other people's reviews and photos. Even if our food is no different from other guests, they should be ashamed of their food. My family will remember Montreal as food waste.

I would put 0 stars if I could. Don’t waste your time going there, I think it’s still open because of the location but it’s definitely not worth the expensive price you will pay. First, service was terrible, at least it was quick, but nobody offered us any pepper/parmesan or came to ask if the food was good... Second, the portions were small and the food was tasteless. No meat in the pastas and maybe like 3 ingredients per plate... And finally, the drinks were bad too... it was truly disappointing, I wanted to try this restaurant as I saw the good reviews about it, but I’ll never go back for sure.

Extremely far from the Italian kitchen. The rice in my risotto was undercooked and mushy, tasteless and cold, the fish was a tiny piece of an unknown kind, no mushrooms, no truffles as advertised. The spaghetti carbonara were too salty with 3 stripes of some kind of meat-like product, the gnocchi for my children tasted like a noodle soup from a 2 year-old can, my sangria was supposed to have a portion of martini, not just ice and 2 cherries, the octopus was very small. I will propose to the head office of Google to include negative star evaluation. I guess the good reviews are due to the many friends of the owner, I can't imagine someone could like the food let alone call it Italian! On top of everything we waited for the food for an hour, the food came cold besides the promise of the waiter that our meals are being cooked right at this moment! Needless to say that I will no longer be sponsoring the extravagant hobbies of the owners. I understood what a classic tourist trap is!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. NEVER GOING BACK! TOURISTS STAY AWAY!!! First they tell us they won't give us tables outside because we had kids with us when there were other families sitting outside. Then they said they won't give us tables by the window, and instead tucked us way in the back. The staff was rude. Portions were very small and just way too pretentious. Our bread came with the food. Food wasn't really all that great either. The waitstaff was insulting when we said we didn't want more water saying "it's free and my boss doesn't like empty glasses". Seriously, I didn't want ice in my water yet you gave me ice. I waited until the water was room temp to drink it, but you just dumped more ice in it. If your boss doesn't want to see empty glasses, why doesn't he/she just pay my bill? Never going back there again. Wish them all the worst! 5 DAYS IN MONTREAL AND THIS WAS THE WORST DINING EXPERIENCE I HAD.

Went to Jacopo as part of the MTLaTable experience. We were impressed with the food, and the customer service is really exceptional!! We had focaccia bread as a complimentary starter, and tried both the beet carpaccio and fennel salad. Both were tasty and good portion sizes! For a main meal, we ordered the pasta margherita and the pork. The pork was well cooked with a generous portion of vegetables. The pasta was delicious as well! For dessert we had some tiramisu and biscotti, both of which we enjoyed! To top it off, their staff are really great from the waiters to Mathias the general manager. We felt extremely welcomed and well taken care of! The restaurant went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our experience which was really nice! I will definitely come eat at Jacopo again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice meal!

???? Wow, food was delicious! You can’t beat the $22 lunch special. We both had the salad which had fresh tomatoes and basil (yum), then the rainbow trout and steak were both delicious. Lastly the cannolis were the perfect finish. Will be back next time I’m in the area. Definitely NOT a tourist trap, it was truly a quality meal.

Terrible service. Not overly busy so can't use it as excuse for them. They seated me, left water. Next time I saw her again it was with a handful of dirty glasses asking me if I was ready to order. Poor service, do not follow the waiter when he says it's very delicious because it is not, do the choice your self, the portions are extremely small. The waiter was rude, and stand on top of my head during the payment to check the tip. I would've given 0 stars, but 2 star for 2 things, the first star is for the bread and olive oil, the second star is for the nice indian guy helping and serving, that's it. I do not recommend.

My wife and I had dinner here our last night in Montreal and we were not disappointed. I had ravioli and my wife had octopus. The price of our dinner was very reasonable and the food was delicious. We were also pleased with the ambience and the service. We don't like loud places. You can hear yourself talk in this restaurant even though it may be busy. Conveniently located in the heart of old Montreal, we highly recommend this restaurant for dinner.

I had an entree of carpaccio di braseola with grilled octopus with fresh veggies as a main dish with panacotta as a dessert. It was absolutely delicious and I was impressed by the quality of the food and the freshness. Our waitress (Sara) was the kindest and every staff was super fast and efficient. I will definitely go back.

A complete miss that you could do without. Slow service, overcooked food, and pretentious portions. Recently went for the Happening Gourmand event. Was extremely disappointed. First, had the sausages, got 3 small sausages and 2 tiny pieces of greens. They were bland and mildly spicy, tasted like packaged breakfast sausages. Next I had the octopus. Overcooked, and rubbery. The portion size was smallish, with no side/garnish. Finally, the dessert, must have been frozen because it was overly sweet and the crust was mushy. Something that you’d be at the grocery store. The service was painfully slow, they didn’t know who ordered what, took forever to get the bills. Completely uninterested. Even for the special priced menu, I was disappointed and let down by lackluster service and overpriced and over cooked food.

The service was impeccable. Calm and cosy ambiance and perfect place to bring a date. As for the food, I am usually very skeptical when I am eating Italian food out, but I when I saw they had "Cacio e pepe", I decided I had to try it. It's usually a very tricky recipe, since there are only two ingredients. It was excellent, my date and I were pleasantly suprised. Another great thing is that all the pasta is fresh and homemade.

I had the ravioli with butter but squash with butter and toasted almonds it's was freshly made and the taste was devine.
