Dumplings are tasty however the lack of consistency is my reason for such a poor rating. I’ve ordered dumplings here maybe 6 times and 4/6 times my dumplings have been burnt. The first couple times the owner would serve them to me without saying a word about them being burnt and I would only find out once i go home (i get takeout). There’s even been times when I come in and he admits to burning my dumplings and showed them to me hoping that i would be willing to take them home like that. I quite honestly don’t understand how the business owners are comfortable serving someone BURNT food. I’ve also ordered via uber before and paid extra to have the dumplings fried, and when they came they weren’t even fried. I’m a good customer, I’m very patient and i tip well and yet there’s no compensation for my burnt food, no lack of accountability when it comes to poor customer service. I’d rather offer my business elsewhere to someone that is going to have enough common sense to not burn my food every time i order it.

We were very surprised by the quality of the food. The dumplings are made fresh. There were two ladies making the dumplings near us. We ordered beef and onion, and shrimp dumplings. We also asked for pork and cabbage dumplings. My favorite were the shrimp ones. They are very well made well filled too. If you like dumplings, I highly suggest you visit Ai. The service was very nice and the atmosphere was too. In my opinion, the prices were fair for the quantity you get and the quality.

Their website seems to have Spyware/ malware, so I don't recommend going to their web site. Their restaurant appears to be infested with spiders from past visits to pick up food. Aside from that, their food tastes good, their prices are good, and they're open late.

Friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere and a solid selection of dumplings. I had steamed pork and chive and they were probably the best I've ever had. Perfectly filled and cooked while served super hot. You could bite half and the whole dumpling would still stay intact. Definitely going back for the fried ones and they also have homemade soy milk that I'd love to try.

The size of an order of dumplings is very big, you get full with it. The price is around $9-15 depending on the stuffing you like. There’s a lunch special: you get a soup for free with the dumplings. The staff is very nice. Good little place, will come again.

I really like this place - a small family business located in a hole-in-the-wall on Somerled Ave. You can watch the dumplings being made before your eyes - the filling being put into the dough and then expertly wrapped for either steaming or frying. Best to order online, as opposed phoning in an order.

I once ordered from here because i used to like it since it was so close and had decent dumplings. I always get the pork dumplings, but as i was eating one, suddenly something hard made my tooth chip, which i cant afford to get fixed and still bothers me. Ive also many times found steel wool in my dumplings. Please dont eat here for your health and safety

Ai Dumpling in NDG is a small, underrated family-run restaurant well-worth the trip from anywhere in the Montréal area. They make everything fresh to order, and offer vegetarian and vegan options. Three dishes are pictured here: the humble cucumber is elevated to a sublime status with some chili, vinegar, sesame seeds, and sesame oil. Refreshing and delicious, and one of several starters and salads. Their wontons are made to order as are their dumplings. Dumplings are served 15 to an order, but diners can combine flavors or have half-portions, and always have the option for boiled or fried! Pictured here are crispy fried shrimp dumplings. ????????

Very good, fresh dumplings made here. At least 2 dozen different types of dumplings with ingredients like beef, chicken, lamb, pork, curry, coriander, chive & many more. Can get them fried or steamed. Small place so try to go on an off time like during the week. They also do online orders for pick up. So far my favorite is fried pork & green onion. Plan on many more visits to try them all!

Excellent little dumpling spot tucked away in NDG, but well worth a visit. Quiet, cozy, but a very welcoming staff. I've tried most of their menu and have yet to be disappointed. Particular favourites are the pork, coriander, & shrimp, and pork & scallop. The entrées are tasty, too, especially the tofu salad. Definitely worth trying.

I've tried about 6 or 7 dumpling places in and around Montreal and this place is average, but their prices aren't competitive. Most places charge $10.99 and they charge $13.99 but if you have a late night craving and don't mind the extra then they're opened till 4am.

Food was great but they forgot to give my friend a spoon for her wonton soup (10/10 by the way, not sure what Christten was talking about) so she had to eat it with a knife. Seeing as they only do takeout after a certain hour, it was definitely not the ideal situation as we ended up having to eat in the car, which naturally led to a little mess since my friend is a little bit (or rather very) clumsy. Despite all of this, in the end, everything worked out and it ended up being quite a memorable experience. 10/10 would dumpling again.

This was my favorite dumpling place but there is one thing that is under my skin, it's the chili oil. Normally at dumpling places there is oil in chili oil, but here it's almost entirely chili peppers - what exactly am I supposed to dip my dumplings in? I know that I am not the only one feeling this way, a fellow customer said to grab more sauces, but really it's sad because without the chilli oil it takes away the enjoyment.

November 6th around 7 I went in to have a bite after 10 minutes of waiting I start looking at the waitress wondering if she would come and take my order right behind me was a family all adults walked in right after me she went serve the family before me. Quite possibly, the best dumplings in the city is located in NDG. I say best because each bite is simply bursting with filling and flavor. Made fresh when ordered, with ample varieties to satisfy any eater. Available steamed, boiled or fried. Out of the four choices ordered, I would recommend the beef & onion and the pork & chives. The pickled salads available were spicy, crunchy and refreshing. A great discovery and a welcome addition to the neighborhood!

Amazing dumplings, couple of hiccups on our take out order: do not order the peanut sauce as the tiny container was less than half full and you pay an extra for that. Seaweed salad doesn’t look the same as on the website (through which we placed an order - but it’s still under construction, so no order was placed even if we received a confirmation email - the owners didn’t know the website was online already, I found it here on Google maps). We’ll order again and will know which mistakes not to make.

I had an excellent experience with a take out order the first time we went there and the dumplings were delicious. The next time was not so great, we ordered online and got a confirmation with an order number and when we got there (it was a 15 minutes drive for us) they told us that they didn’t receive our order and that we would have to wait 30 minutes to get our food, even if we showed them the confirmation on our phone. Very disappointed with their service, in these circumstances we would have expected them to correct this mistake and prioritize our order. Will not go back again.

I went to this dumpling place today, Friday June 21, 2019. The dumplings are GREAT, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. The server(today a lady) needs intense training as she could not notice if we needed anything. I think the way to go with this place is to order on line and pick up.

Very cozy, friendly place. Great selection of dumplings made fresh to order. We tried the pork with cabage (steamed) and the beef with curry (fried). Both of these were absolutely amazing! These are the best dumplings that I can remember eating.

De.li.cious dumplings!!! Very thin dough, fried to perfection and well stuffed. This place has been open for about 4 months and I have been or ordered from there probably 10 times. Our favs are the carrot salad, the chicken & coriander and pork & cabbage. 15 dumplings per batch for a great price. The staff is really nice and friendly. Just go for it!!

Ordered wonton and spicy noodles which appeared to be in a broth, but both dishes were soaked purely in oil. The Wonton was more oil than broth and it was absolutely disgusting , I felt like I was drinking a bottle of cooking oil.

I visited on February 2019. This restaurant can accomodate 20 customers on 7 tables. Be prepared for a long wait because they make the dumplings by hand on-site and custom to order, and also because they also dispatch deliveries and take-out orders while you are seated. Good quality food and well presented. The ambiance is casual with soft relaxing music. I saw books for children and other distractions to pass time. Major credit cards are accepted. It didn't seem to me accessible friendly (entrance, floor plan). They have a good product but if they want to grow the business it is my opinion they will need to have a serious look at their operating model and find a way to speed-up the service without compromising on quality. - End.

We went in on a Friday night and the tiny place was getting slammed with takeout orders. Best dumplings in the area by far as you can watch them being created in front of you. They were overwhelmed when we were there and forgot to take our order for 20 mins. Certainly not the owners fault, but it was like eating in a daycare with screaming kids and indifferent parents. ruined a otherwise great meal. Place only holds about 20 people, so best to go off hours if you want to sit.

They let me wait for my order for an hour via uber eats.I tracked my order. Changed drivers for three many times. Then boom! My order was cancelled.no explanation.I didn’t get my money back. I never received a call so at least i know what’s going on. We went to the restaurant to check ourselves what was happening. The lady from Ai dumplings said they have the food ready but Uber eats just cancelled 5 orders. She just told me to go to Help section of Uber eats to ask for refund.

I was on UberEat, made an order and they acepted it.. I waited nearly an hour and half to realise they closed the restaurant at 4:00 am ! The order got placed and accepted around 04:00 am and 04:05 am! They never made my order while saying they did, and had to pay for an order I never received. Was my first and last time with this restaurant.

We live in the neighbourhood and are so delighted to have discovered this place! The dumplings are super duper fresh, flavourful, perfect texture and filling to parcel ratio. On many occasions we have seen the women making them by hand. Feels homey - like being in someone’s kitchen. Really love this place and will continue going there regularly with our family. PS - if anyone knows the secret of their cheesy yummy fried texture (when the dumplings are friend not steamed) pls share! We are so curious and can’t figure it out.
