You have all the reviews of people who use the services of Polgoon Vineyard Ltd (Winery) in Cornwall (Canada).
At present the firm receives a rating of 4.8 over 5 and that score has been based on 91 reviews.
You must have seen that the average score it has is virtually the highest, and it is founded on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may conclude that the rating is quite accurate. If many people have bothered to give their score when they are pleased with the service, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to put reviews when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Winery belongs to the category of Wine cellar.
Really enjoyed our tour, was lovely walking around the vineyards and orchard. Great tasting wines. HOWEVER, I would suggest to the vineyard giving tastings of the cider, because we had it at the Admiral Benbow in Penzance and it is AMAZING, …
£10 per head entry for the pre-booked self-guided tour gives you a circa 20 min ramble around the modest acreage with an info sheet in the vines and grape varieties. Then back to a table for modest sip of a white, rose and a red. More drink and excellent food can be had at this point. The cheeseboard was excellent and we tried a few more wines. In this day and age, pretty good value and the food in particular was excellent. The sparkling pinot noir is particularly good and the Bacchus and the Sauvignon Blanc were also good. The other wines were average. Excellent couple of hours if you are in the area. For those interested in the Covid angle.....they asked for masks indoors in the shop and the waitresses were masked up but otherwise it's an outdoor event so it's both relative safe and/or relatively 'free' (depending on your Covid viewpoint at this moment in time).
A wonderful place to enjoy a relaxing afternoon. We had a self guided walk round the vineyard which didn't take long but with the guide notes made it interesting. We then sampled three of the different wines they produced. All were excellent. Lunch was local cheese and crackers followed buy two more glasses of their Sauvignon Blanc 2019.
Good selection of wines / ciders plus other local produce. Sharing platter went down well with one of their whites.
Was surprised to find that they make cider as well as wine. I’m pleased I made the discovery as it was some of the best tasting cider I’ve had this year.
Great afternoon, friendly staff, informative commentary and excellent tasting. The entire Polgoon team are building a great venture here.
We had a wonderful lunch and vineyard tour at polgoon. Our guide was very knowledgeable and very friendly. We purchased some lovely wine at the end of our wine tasting. Thanks for a great afternoon ????
Lovely place and amazing wine.. we spent almost 2 hours exploring different apple and grape plants. There was fortunately someone who explained about the plantation process and harvesting too. As in, when and how to do it. It was really insightful and informative. I’d definitely visit this place again. P.S. wine has never been something I’ve been fond of. However, I really enjoyed the taste of wine over here. I enjoyed the white more than the red tbh.
If you only visit one Vineyard, make it this one. Really nice tour of the vines followed by a good tasting session. Emma who took the tour was on hand to offer tasting advice and as one the owners clearly takes pride in what they do and why it's different. Lunch was excellent (Welsh Rarebit) and not expensive. The service from the team really good and there has clearly been thought out into the setting, as it was a nice place to be. One opportunity to improve Polgoon, disappointed to be charged £3 more for the bottle of (Excellent) Sauvignon Blanc that we had with lunch, over the shop price. Nearly lost a star for this however as the overall experience was so good you've had a reprieve.
Only stopped off to buy some wine to take back to the campsite but thought I would leave a review as the woman who served us in the shop was so lovely. We decided to do a wine flight each in order to choose which to buy - we chose a couple to try and the woman was happy to choose us the rest in order to bring us a varied selection - all of which she told us a bit about. When leaving, she really kindly offered us lots of ideas of where to visit (walks, coves, pubs) near to our campsite - all of which turned out to be great recommendations - much appreciated, thank you!
Great to find a vineyard on our Cornish travels. Made a stop, had their lemonade and wines, both very nice. They sell nibbles, which all look top class.
On deciding to pop to the Vineyard shop we stumbled across the outdoor Kitchen which we never realised existed. It’s also not that obvious on the website unless you know about it and search it out! There was a minimal but perfectly chosen menu accompanied by a choice of drinks including their wines (obviously), soft drinks and cocktails using their products. We arrived just after lunch and were able to get a table for a time between reservations which suggests bookings are helpful but not essential and it’s definitely worth popping in if you’re passing. We had glorious weather and enjoyed soaking up the sun but the majority of the seating is undercover suitable come rain. No heating though so off season best to add a layer. Beautiful festoon style lighting to the back of the seating area I’m sure would provide a stunning evening meal venue too. The lenterns beef and newlyn crab sandwiches were particularly yummy. The Kernow Royale cocktail was on the pricy side but also a good choice. The staff were friendly and polite and even helped me source the Cornish cassis in the shop so I can attempt to recreate the Kernow Royale at home :-) Would highly recommend.
Enjoyable walk, doesn't take too long it's all self guided. Interesting insight into English wine making. Short walk around the vineyard allows you to see apples and grape vineyard. At the end of the walk you experience tasting of selected wines and if you choose to you may try the ciders as well.
Went on the wine tasting experience here, with my family yesterday. The girl (daughter of the owner) who was the tour guide was fantastic and did a great job at explaining how their wine was produced, as well as giving some background into the vineyard itself. Lovely wine tasting experience after the tour, along with a great discussion about tasting notes of the different wines. Absolutely fab! They also have a nice shop where you can purchase their range of wines, as well as selected local produce. Great day out. Would thoroughly recommend going if you are in the area.
I don't like apples so I'm not sure why I bothered visiting. But, if you do, I'd go if you have nothing better to do.
Great little vineyard growing bigger by the year, 2018 Bacchus and Rose's are very good - lunches also spot on
My favourite wines ????????????????????
£10 tour, was worth the price. The wine was all super sweet and sickly with no depth of flavour, both me and my partner agreed on this. Should have gotten a £5 bottle from premier, at least you know what to expect and aren't disappointed.
We had our lunch and then enjoyed the tour with tastings. Lunch was delicious, ciders very good too. Great white wines, rose was top notch! Tour was amazing, very informative guide. Wine tasting portions were quite generous. Highly recommend!
Definitely worth a visit. We had a great time.
Not expensive to stay, bedroom was big and clean, had to pay for breakfast but was worth it. Beautiful place
Self guided wine tour was amazing. Would highly recommend, went down well as a birthday present!
We had an interesting tour around the vine plants and processing station. Found out about the history and current production of this working vineyard. Sampled a few wines and the oaked white and the rose were our favourites. Enjoyable experience. Didn't give full mark of 5 stars because narratives delivered during the tour could benefit from further preparation. Also it started late due to late arrival, plus the gaps between each wine sampling were a bit loose and it finished a bit later than planned. So short of a perfect experience for those who arrived on time.
Always super friendly and helpful, lovely local wine and Cornish products.
Lovely day, lovely people, lovely place, and a welcome break from our kids! We enjoyed the guided tour and tasting followed by Scallops and Welsh Rarebit for lunch. Delightful. Have come away with a case of wine to top it off!
Great vineyard with great people - we love visiting here!
Delicious wine. Friendly and helpful service. A range of local produce at reasonable prices. I recommend this place and will be going again.
Lovely local shop and great wine, would recommend if you are in the area. Thanks!
Staff were very friendly and the wine was good and good value for English wine and bubbles.
Fabulous lunch during the summer wine ti die for
Simple, pleasant well sign posted self tour of apple orchard and vineyards using a provided guide sheet with interesting facts. Very nice view from the top of the vineyard looking over the town and out to sea. Followed by a flight of three wines with tasting notes, all very pleasant.
Mulled wine is amazing
Excellent wine and cider from a multi award winning vineyard.
Good tour, and nice food and wine at the outside cafe. An easy walk from the centre of Penzance too.
brilliant vineyard and shop with great value wine tasting (£4.50 for 3) and cheap bar
This vineyard provides, alongside an excellent self guided walking tour, fantastic wines, Ciders and food. Walking through the vines, on a warm Cornish day, helps you to appreciate the deliciously fresh whites and deep flavoured reds produced here by the friendly, informative and helpful staff and included in the low priced tour.
Very welcoming and delicious wine
Brought a gorgeous bottle of red, after a few tasters. The cider is also delicious! Worth the trip, staff are very friendly and helpful.
Love it here. You can go on a tour of the vineyard. Selling Cornish wines, gins and more. The restaurant has amazing food too
We had an amazing time at Polgoon. We booked onto the vineyard tour. It was informative but informal. The tour guide was lovely and was happy to answer everyone's questions. At the end we were able to taste five different wines (white, rose and red). After the tour we also bought a couple of their ciders which were delicious (the elderflower was our favourite)! The price was incredibly reasonable (£10 each for the tour, including tasting the different wines) and I would highly recommend it if you're near Penzance. It is also really easy to walk to from Penzance!
Good choice of wines and a few other drinks besides, really good service but not cheap lol
Great place. Interesting self directed tour and tasting. Lovely staff. Food and wines superb. Good value. Well stocked shop. Easily walkable from Penzance, Newlyn and Mousehole.
Fabulous English wine lovely staff
Nice day, great wine
Lovely taste of Cornwall, always great . Favourites are the sparkling and white wines. Highly recommended.
Friendly staff, lovely local wines
Great English wine and excellent food.
I loved the tour in the vineyard with a great guide explaining how Polgoon started their adventure! They also got a nice Deli shop where they sell local products as well as their own cider and wine. Great place to stop on the way down to Cornwall - I will come again.
Loved it, will come again
Lovely wines, beautiful vineyard and friendly and welcoming staff. We loved the white and rosé wines.
