I visited today ! Excellent experience, great people working there! Super friendly and lovely to talk! I recommend visiting for sure !
Stopped in here today during the pairing event & truly enjoyed the gorgonzola mac & cheese and the pinot. Whomever was doing the pairing, was the nicest person ever! However, we had a very weird encounter with the man behind the bar. He was cold, sarcastic and spoke in a rude tone. I didn’t see him treat anyone else in this manner, just my group. This was so uncomfortable and to be honest, I wish I hadn’t spent a dollar here. The most I can do is leave this review, and certainly not return.
Great service at the restaurant! Relaxing loaction
Excellent wine and stellar customer service! On a trip several months back, by accident we left behind the wines we purchased. Even though it was months later, the staff remembered us, and shipped us the wine free of charge! Definitely worth the stop. The bistro attached also serves the best burger I have ever eaten!
Great selection and friendly staff
After booking a reservation for 7 people at the restaurant after our wedding ceremony, we arrived to our booking and then we’re told we would have to be sat at separate tables due to restrictions. British Columbia is no longer mandating restaurants to cap tables at a maximum of 6 guests, this change happened on July 1st and it is now July 25th. We understood that this could be their personal policy and we accepted that, apologized to them for cancelling and were on our way out to find somewhere else . As we were walking out we had two members staff continue to follow and tell us that these are the restrictions everywhere and we should have known before booking… although they accepted our booking and did not mention this. The man on the patio was pretty rude, no apology just made excuses. The female staff member did apologize but also again told us we should have known… very poor customer service. I wouldn’t mind if what they were explaining to us were the correct restrictions, however they weren’t and should not blame customers for not knowing their policies. That should have been explained to us at the time of booking.
Very rude staff. The old bald guy definitely saw us waiting in line for a tasting, and they let people who came after us do the tasting before us. Maybe you don’t need to line up, but if you see customers waiting, at least have the decency to let people who come after know we came first. I’m glad we didn’t buy anything here.
Ate at the restaurant Reasonably priced wine, great service. Food was fantastic. All 4 of us could not have been happier.
We popped in for a tasting and had a lovely experience.
I had an okay experience there. The lady that served us wasn’t really friendly and it felt like she didn’t want to be here. Unfortunately in a area where there’s so many competition I would advise people to go elsewhere. There are better wines with better service at a similar/cheaper price.
The lady assisting us with the wine tasting was super nice! I've never been a rosé person but I've officially been converted
Excellent and elegant Winery hosting a variety of wines to tantalize the taste buds. A shop containing not only all the accessories you could ever imagine for both drinking carrying giving and cooking with wine but also some delectable wines for your palate. A great local Winery with ample parking. Also a very elegant Deck restaurant with a great view Over The Vineyards.
Great tasting event and a good variety of wines. Very cozy lodge.
We tried their ice wines and loved all of them! Good prices too. Great patio with a nice view.
(Translated) There is a place where you can taste wine at the end of the winery You can do wine tasting $5 for tasting, tasting fee for wine after tasting Exempt. There is nothing special about the view around this winery.
I visited Volcanic Hills Estate Winery with my fiancé yesterday afternoon. It was one of 12 West Kelowna wineries participating in the “Sip with your Sweetheart” wine tour. Our experience at this winery wasn’t terrible, but it certainly wasn’t great either. For the event, they offered visitors one complimentary glass of wine which they paired with a small chocolate. In my opinion, the chocolate was more memorable than the wine or the service was. Their interior décor also needs an update. This wine tour is a great opportunity to get new customers in the door, but Volcanic Hills did not make good use of this chance. There was absolutely nothing that “wowed” me about this winery.
I've always loved Volcanic Hills wine! Either there's something in that soil or the wine maker just tickles my taste buds in the right way.
Great place. Tasty wine. Friendly people.
The wine is of course, GREAT. The food offerings are fresh and plated beautifully. The staff is warm and accommodating.
Had a private tour of the winery with Bobby. Was the best tour I’ve been on! Very informative and casual. Wines were decent and even bought some tasty homemade Indian snacks to eat in between tastings. Overall a really fun time!
Such a lovely experience and great selection of wines. A lot of them have won awards. The tasting was free unlike the other wineries.
Excellent dinner.
Nice little bistro, large patio overlooking the Okanagan valley and lake. Good selections of wines to choose from.
Don't do the tour. It wasn't a good experience. We did the tour for a bachelorette party. One of the owners took us on the tour, he was really boring, spent quite a bit of time talking about ROI and $$$ invested in their facility. It just seemed like showboating the whole time. Very unhelpful, especially when you're on a wine tour. This wasn't a business exhibit to invest in a winery, and I think the guy forgot this. On a positive note: their Pinot Noir was delicious.
We went on a tour through BeachBums today and the server at blusaffron was great! She even returned a lost wallet! Wish we remembered her name, she’s from Ontario! Highly recommend ! food was great service equally as good
one of the best winery in okanagan , nice view , alot of wines to choose from ,but a bit small
A bit expensive and too busy meaning under staffed!!
We entered the Winery and we had a chance to have a visit and learn many thing by having a tour over their Vineyard, Factory and shop. They produce different and tasty wines. I really liked this place.
This is my absolute favourite winery and bistro! The wine, ice wine, and sharable dishes are very pleasant and give you a beautiful taste of the Okanagan. Some wineries have a corporate and distant feel-- Volcanic Hills is the opposite. It is a family estate winery, and the family is so sweet. Every time I've gone for a tasting, for lunch/dinner, or to buy a wine-related gift they've treated me so kindly. I highly recommend this winery for locals and for anyone visiting the area.
just visited here for mothers day. I don't drink wine, but my mom and sister do and they loved it.... they have a pretty good seletion of non wine items as well at the restaurant, which is good. food was great, service was alright, nothing to complain about, but nothing to brag about either. either way I'd be visiting this place again and recommend to check it out.
Came here for wine tasting on Boxing Day with family. Warm welcoming and lovely service throughout the wine tasting. Love the wines here as well. Thanks!
Had a great time on a tour here! Really relaxed, unfortunately a bit loud and I struggled to get more information about their wines but I LOVED their lava white and lava red blends and their ice wine tasted like cotton candy, can't wait to try more!
Great winery, with excellent wines and delicious food. The terrace has awesome views.
Just popped by to pick up their Lava Red - one of my favorite reds in the Okanagan!
I went into Volcanic Hills winery with an open mind about what wine to pair with my exquisite meal I was preparing for my family. Let's just say I had the whole crew that was excited about helping me, and helped me pair three beautiful wines with my meal that everyone loved. Thank you Volcanic Hills!
Best rosé in Kelowna
Beautiful award winning wines! Free shipping when purchasing a box! Stopped in to Volcanic Hills while on our own wine tour of West Kelowna. The building is nice, however inside decor and displays could use a professional hand, but dont let that discourage you from the wines! The Gewürztraminer was one of our favourites. Floral bouquet and not sweet.
The wine was decent, the place wasn't packed yet, the staff was good, but they bagged the wrong bottle and I drove 4 hours home just to discover the mistake. Now I'm stuck with a bottle I didn't want in the first place and I don't have the one I wanted. Edit: Forgot to come back here and edit my review. Owner shipped me the bottle I was supposed to get right to my house at no cost, AND I got to keep the other one. Both excellent wines, and you gotta respect a business owner who owns up to their mistakes. I give props and up to 5 stars you guys go in my book!
Food looks good and the wine testing is free much better than Mxxxxxxx hill!! Sorry to said that but truth
Lovely location with a beautiful view of the vineyard and lake. The menu had a nice variety and the portions were generous. We found the wine menu had limited information (name and suggested pairing and not necessarily the type). The wine was good and the service was good though unenthusiastic.
Great attention! Excellent wines
It is a small winery business, about 8 years old. I have tried 4 types of wine, to be honest did not like it. They have rose, red and white wines, however did not find the one I love.
GREAT winery! Huge tasting room and shop with so many options to choose from to taste which I love! They make some amazing ice wine! Well priced wine too.
Wine is good, food is good, ambiance is so-so, the service, however, was fantastic. Better for a group than a couple.
Super friendly staff and a good number of excellent wines. The sparkling Gewurtz was awesome, as was the Magma Red and Riesling icewine. Enjoy some Indian snacks while chilling on the patio!
Great wine and friendly service! Highly recommend and well worth the money!
Very nice patio area for lunch.
We had an amazing time here, with Julie at our service. She took us through their selection of wines, pointed out to us some Specialties for their Winery, and took into account our tastes and guided us in the right direction. She truly made our experience phenomenal. The views from the winery are spectacular, there is an outdoor seated area for the bistro that many people enjoy. Overall great vibes.
Great wine tasting and awesome staff, what’s not to like.
Lovely wines and really excellent service. The restaurant attached also had great service and the BEST cheese board I've ever had!
the wine was just okay. the man doing the tastings was pretty nice but his sister is far from friendly. if it were left up to her to run the business with her attitude the winery would close within months.
Always a nice experience visiting the friendly staff at Volcanic Hills! Great tasting wine and good service keeps me coming back. Would recommend the patio dining as well.
Always good.
Amazing wine wonderful service!
Great food!! Great wine!!! I will go back again. Great place to bring visitors. Prices are good
Loved it. Went back for gift purchases.
We are visitors form Vancouver. Passed by this Winery today! Wine tastes pretty good plus a beautiful view. Staff members are super friendly! Will definitely come back soon :)
We had a great tasting experience here! MacKenna was a wonderful host. She gave great detailed descriptions of the wines we were sampling and was funny and friendly. The wines were all very good and we left with 5 bottles plus some goodies from their store. We will definitely try their bistro the next time we are here!
A large established winery located on the slope of an ancient dormant volcano with an amazing wine selection. They have everything from Viognier to Syrah to bubbly Gewürztraminer to Cabernet Franc to Zweigelt ice wine and more. The Cabernet Franc and Merlot are a couple of our favourites from here. I like that they suggest food pairings on the label of their bottles to ensure that you get the best taste experience. They also have wine accessories, food items, and unique gifts available for purchase in the wine shop. Tastings are $5 per person for 4 wine samples, waived with a purchase of a bottle of wine per person. The tasting fees here are typical of what you will pay to try wine without purchase for the area.
Love their wine. Great service.
Anti-pasto board was delicious. A bit of a wait for the food but worth it in the end. Enjoyable outdoor scenery while we at.

We stopped in around 5:15 PM for a wine tasting, they stopped taking people around 5:30. The host was great. We got to try 5 wines that were all local to NZ. We really enjoyed the wine and ended up buying 2 bottles to take home with us. The atmosphere and scenery were great and you got great views of the city at night. There aren’t many wineries on the north island, so if you enjoy wine, I would def recommend coming here. HINT: Try and go when the sun is setting, you get city views of the day time and night. Tasting around $40 USD for 2 people
I love the smaller wineries because they add a more personal and authentic experience to the tasting. The lady serving us knew her stuff and answered all our questions eloquently. We were very interested in Volcanic Hills' story. They have a nice selection of ice wines to taste and I highly recommend it!
It's great
Nice wines here
Friendly, knowledgeable staff with good prices on quality wines. Always enjoy visiting and bringing my out of town guests by to experience.
Great winery, great service. Very unique wines and blends. If you like ice wines they have some very tastey blends which mellows out the ice wine. Look forward to going back!
I only have good things to say about Volcanic hills winery. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was exceptional, I will definitely make a habit of visiting this venue.
Great wines ???? food and Service!
The wine was good, simples were very small and the tasting room was very outdated.
Wine was decent but the person pouring our wine was rude and didn't go to any effort to tell us about the wine at all. Definitely didn't make us feel welcome, even though we bought 3 bottles. Not sure we would return.
A very good Winery experience. We went for a tasting on 2021SEP11. The only wine I wasn't a fan of was the chardonnay, however the rest were a 10/10. They have a very beautiful view of their fields. I will definitely be back here next time I visit the Okanogan. I would say this Winery is a must go to stop!
Great experience. Large patio and nice view. Good food and spacious tasting room.
Allways a good experience at volcanic hills winery
Was very good spent some money there
Excellent food and service.
Accommodating to those who aren’t a fan of reds!
Excellent
Had a fantastic lunch in the bistros, our chicken pasta dishes were so flavourful. The Magma red was perfect for us. Our sever Megan was funny, personable, and new her stuff. Also thank you, Megan, for the winery suggestions.
Beautiful facility, great wines, unfortunately one of their hosts Lynn hampered our visit slightly by being somewhat unfriendly:(
Great food and staff. Wind was an issue when we were there though
Out of 5 wineries we went to, this was by far the worst service. The lady who did the tasting for us just poured the wine and went on talking to her colleague. No explanation of the wines or background about the winery that we got at almost every other winery. The only thing she asked was if I wanted to buy a bottle of wine before I was even done drinking my last tasting. The wines themselves were great, tasting was reasonably priced and the views are amazing however with so much competition so close, I would really suggest they work on their customer service.
Awesome staff and great wine for a reasonable price (good value)
Food was great as was service. Unfortunately, it was quite windy so umbrellas could not be opened up even though it was very sunny. Several in our group were quite uncomfortable.
Lovely location, nice gerwurtz sparkling, and a good Chardonnay Ice wine.
Nice spacious clean atmosphere.Found a great Red. Lava red ,nice flavour a blend great summer red a little sweet with great character. All ice wines are amazing and well priced. Thanks for having us we'll be back.
Great whites and good red blends. The lady doing the tastings was great and knowledgeable
My boyfriend and I made this place our first stop. We sampled with a bartender named Christian and purchased a bottle of wine. We were gone for an hour or so and we were headed back home going towards Volcanic Hill's direction. We were going to just meet up with a family member and she happened to pull into the parking lot and wanted to sample their wine. So we went in with her and sampled the other wines that we haven't tried NOT knowing that it was illegal because there was no signage anywhere stating that. We were being served by someone else and Christian dropped what he was doing with other guests doing samples to tell us that we weren't allowed to do be served twice in a day... which is understandable. So my boyfriend and I stopped at sample 2 out of 4. What we didn't appreciate was the fact that he said it in front of all the other people doing samples, was rude about it and embarrassed us in front of everybody. Not impressed with any of this. Spent money on a bottle of wine which we still took home and drank. But it now leaves a bitter memory for us and wish we didn't spend any money there at all.
Wine is always great and they have awesome staff who are always helpful
they have toys that keep the kids busy while we were wine tasting , we were done testing before they had enough with the toys , that was perfect . only for that reason I would give them 5 stars, but they have a great selection of red, white and ice wine ( very good wine) + the bistro has exellent food, I had the burger and it was delicious .A place to go with or without kids .
Always friendly and helpful. Good wine of course. Thanks
Amazing service and amazing wines!
Their lava red and white ???? I dont think they have a wine I dont enjoy! Took my son for lunch at their restaurant (because they were sold out of lava red and the restaurant still had it by the glass) and their food is amazing as well!
After the hustle and bustle of the neighboring wineries this was a welcome of quiet enjoyment. Sadly, the bistro was closed today so no lunch but the wines were top notch and their venue was inviting. A definate do over! Thank you.
Horrendous service, dirty restaurant, nasty staff. Avoid this place at all costs. Anywhere is better.
Did the tasting. Was excited to try the red wine that was blended with ice wine, however nothing ended up floating my boat. Left empty handed.
Bad service, turned us away for dinner because it was all “reserved” but empty restaurant?
Couldn't make an reservation on the website so called for availability. Spoke with Bobby, he kindly offered the tour anytime between 11 and 2. Showed up at 1pm and received a knowledgeable and personal tour from a guy who humbly said he had done a little bit of everything there. Enjoyed our wine tasting and on the way out saw a news article.... our host was the president and owner. VERY IMPRESSIVE !!!
Absolutely the worst service! Rude and unfriendly. Rush through the tasting with no background or information and then only spend time to try and get you to buy a bottle. Lots of other great wineries around with great customer service!
An abomination. More kitschy gift shop and tourist paradise than anything that actually resembles wine.
Great wines! And at a great price. The ice wines are amazing.
Fantastic wine, some of the best I've tried. Disgusting food however. The truffle fries and the veggie flatbread were utterly repulsive. I'm feeling quite sick now.
Great food great wine and service.
Great staff, great wines, LOVE the 2014 Syrah.
Great food and service at restaurant and love the wine from Volcanic!
This winery charges $5 fee for tasting and waives the fee if you purchase. They have a good range of white, reds and five or six ice-wines to offer. The price range between $16 for bottle to $30 for ice-wine. My favorite is Chardonnay Ice wine, which instantly transports me to summer any time of the year :) I also appreciate Volcanic Hills Estate involvement into community through Christmas and Summer market. Cheers!
Good experience. Friendly staff, great wines. Play area for kids while parents taste is a plus. Only draw back was not waving both wine fees with the purchase of a bottle. Needed to buy one each. Most other wineries were waiving it. Overall good experience.
It's great
Very good late harvest and ice wine.
The winery was a little hard to get to because of construction but it was worth the trip. They probably have the nicest people serving the tasters . The staff was also very knowledgeable about each wine . Our favourites where the Pinot Gris , the Gewurztraminer, the Gamay Noir and the 2016 Merlot. I suggest everyone there and enjoy the experience . We ate at their restaurant and really enjoyed the wine pairings with the food. I cant wait till my next visit .
Very helpful & knowledgeable staff, and some very good wines! I'm the bigger bodied red drinker in the family, and I have to give a shout out to the '08 Volcanic Hills Syrah - took a bottle home to have that night with dinner...and since I taste many, many wines as a professional winemaker in California, I think that says something! They poured us tasty, honest wine without pretention. Cheers to Debbie & Trish who helped us & winemaker Daniel - Thanks again for a fun visit.
