We have all the information of people like you who use the products of Parmesan Restaurant (Winery) in the territory close to Charlesbourg (Canada).
Now the business has a rating of 4.1 stars over 5 and the score was based on 127 reviews.
As you can read, the average score it has is quite positive, and it's founded on a very high number of feddbacks, so we can think that the evaluation is quite reliable. If many people have bothered to rate when they are happy with the service, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to place reviews when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Winery is classified in the category of Italian restaurant.
Found this place by accident. Thankful for that. This was an excellent experience. Wait staff were professional and knowledgeable.Food was fresh and delicious. So busy but food was served promptly. Thoroughly enjoyed my fruit salad. Best ever. The entertainment was delightful. Accordin and spoons.Lovely male vouce.
Food was outstanding and accordion player added great atmosphere. The Veal was great, the linguine outstanding and pasta delicious. The prices …
I loved the atmosphere and food. If you are claustrophobic or in a rush, this is not the place you would choose to eat.
The ambience and service was really welcoming at first, live music, high energy, etc. By the end of our meals we had been served by 4 different waiters but the service only got worse unfortunately. One waiter took our appetizers with utensils and promised to replace them immediately. We got our main course but still no utensils so we took some from an empty table nearby. The gentleman playing the accordion decided to dedicate a song to a couple sitting behind us. It was a tight spot so he kept accidentally brushing his behind on my arm and shoulder... and they weren't light brushes either. I get it was accidental but I just couldn't find myself to welcome the gesture while trying to enjoy my food. My wife and I are huge cheesecake fans so we chose the cheesecake for dessert but instead we got a disappointment. It definitely didn't have any "cheese" to it, in any form. In fact it tasted a lot more like a strawberry short cake with whipped cream in the center. We questioned the waiter (3rd waiter at this point) if it was cheesecake. He gave us attitude as if we insulted his mother and said that is how they make their cheesecake. We didn't finish eating it and he noticed so he sent the 4th waiter to pick up the plates and gave us the bill without us even asking for it or offering coffee. It was too bad the evening had to end bittersweet. We were looking forward to a good time at this restaurant since it had many great reviews. I guess there always has to be one bad experience and we just happened to draw that straw.
Wonderful cozy intimate setting to have dinner or lunch. Service and restaurant owner was wonderful. Food was fantastic. I want to visit Quebec City again and try this restaurant. Tres bien!
This restaurant is just ok. The staff was great, but the food so so. The bread was stale, the watercress salad limp and the onion soup too salty. The pasta is a better choice here. The ambience is nice and cozy. There are many restaurants in the old city so if you have only a few days I would not recommend this place.
I read some of the recent reviews but hoped that the negative experiences some people have had wouldn't be our experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case and we were disappointed. While my husband's mussels were very good they came in white wine sauce while they were ordered in marinara. Also, about a dozen shells were empty. My veal marsala was a little tough and the sauce fair. The house salad was also fair. Worse than the food was the lack of service. We were there for almost 2 hours and no one ever came to refill our water glasses even though we did ask the server who brought our meals. Our waiter was only seen to take our order and ask if we wanted dessert. The restaurant seems more concerned with fitting in as many people as possible (tables were on top of one another) and turning over tables. There are many other restaurants in the city to choose from- choose to go elsewhere.
Great food, amazing atmosphere, nice decoration and staff were so friendly, we sat at Schumacher's room at the back????
We felt like we stumbled on a piece of gold. It being Monday in February, (after Carnaval), every other open restaurant on Rue St, Louis was half-full at best. Parmesan was packed with locals (a good sign). I had an outstanding tortellini soup, and we had the lamb and the duck l'orange, both excellently prepared. Service was friendly and fairly quick, despite the overwhelming busy-ness of the place. If you're looking for quiet, go somewhere else. Lots of laughing, accordion music, and conversation. A little on the pricey side (just a little, mind you) but if you want a good meal in an engaging atmosphere, this is the place.
Bad service , waited for an hour and half for food, steaks were fully cooked and hard
You must go here. We arrived late on a Wednesday and they were full but we got a table for four. It was the last table open at 9.00 Pm. My brother and his wife as well as my wife and I. From the moment we walked in we were told it was a bit backed up but they had our drinks for us in 5 minutes and complimentary bread. None of us spoke any French but no problem as Stephanie our hostess was bilingual and always at our table refreshing our drinks while our food was being prepared. The owner met us when we walked (Very nice man) in and the history of this place speaks for itself as you can see so many pictures of him and some very famous Quebecers all over this restaurant. The accordion player was such a nice touch. I had the best Veau Marsala (Veal) I have ever had in my life. The portions were perfect and the price reasonable and the only complaint I have is that I live over 9 hours away and can not come here every week. So Thank you Stephanie and staff for a job well done. Merci infiniment!!
You can tell this is a restaurant with years of service. The service was great! Very busy. Just a little tight on space with the busy dinner crowd.
It's was very bad service , And they don't respect the costumer and we found hair in the food and they did not do any thing I am not going back there again and don't recommend it to any one And also the food quality was so bad
we went to this restaurant on November 27 2021 and was not satisfied at all.. some servers did not wear their mask properly. we ordered the duck and the salmon. the duck was ok, but the salmon was overcooked and dry, we advised our waiter and he took it back and replaced it with the same results. dry, overcooked and very low quality for the price we paid. will never go to this restaurant again.
Walked up to a very busy restaurant with no reservation. The sweetest people sat us right away! Food was DELICIOUS and fast! Wine was incredible. Live music and incredible atmosphere. Thank you!
Me and my family have been going to this restaurant for the past 20 years. Luigi, the owner is always there to check up on tables to make sure everyone's experience is up to standards. Every time I go to this restaurant the service is outstanding and they really go above and beyond to make you feel special especially if you're there to celebrate a special occasion. The food is also amazing with a great selection of traditional Italian food with a great wine selection to pair with your meal as well. The ambiance is like nothing I've ever seen before, with knick knacks and photographs covering every inch of the wall and ceiling, and of course, in true Quebec city fashion there is usually an accordion player there during dinner service to serenade the dinners. This is really an excellent place to bring your family or even for a romantic date night. This restaurant has contributed to so many amazing memories for me and I hope it can do the same for you and your family.
Nice place, great atmosphere and great food. The owner is very nice and staff well trained.
First of all, great atmosphere, we walked in and were excited as the place had a homey feel. We sat down and were greeted by two different waiter/tresses. Soon after we ordered, I found that my plate was slightly greasy but didn't bother about it. But then I found that my fork had a couple pieces of dry food on it which was completely unacceptable. We then received a bread basket where the bread was pretty much burned and hard as a rock. Later when our food arrived, it was not too bad but we rarely had service to check up on us. I ordered a spaghetti Bolognese and found that the sauce was pretty tasty but quite watery. Another member of my party ordered a stuffed pasta that was said to be filled with spinach and feta but there was no spinach to be found. We didn't even need to ask for the bill as a waiter came by and dropped it on our table. The waiter seemed to automatically have included daily soup which we did not ask for, but I guess he wouldn't have known that as we had 5 different waiters serving us. Overall our excitement diminished as we read the online reviews and by the end of our meal, we were able to relate to those reviews. Please try this place at your own risk.
Not super family friendly. They have kid-sized pasta portions of you ask. Very crowded. Neat atmosphere. A little overpriced for what you get.
Like always...spent a nice time there. Nice ambiance and service. Food is awesome and worth to wait for the reservation. A little bit easier to go in if your two but make sure you have your reservation especially in summer time. Wish we would have more of these type of restaurant all around Quebec Province. Owners are in the restaurant and talking with the client. Just amazing
Atmosphere - depends on a person so is decor. Personally I think wait staff was good, food is ok, decor - tacky, atmosphere - time dependant I guess. The artichoke appetizer we got was pathetic I should've taken a picture of it and then send it back. To describe: one artichoke on a weathered leaf of lettuce, surrounded by sliced mozzarella and roasted peppers. Mozzarella looked like the end pieces that they don't want to throw out. Anyway, that plate looked like it belonged in a diner at 4am. Next, chicken. Breaded chicken parmesan, I think that's what it was. Tasted ok, chicken had too much fat under the bread and the cheese on top was still in a form of squares. That's something I used to make at home when I was 11. At least make an effort to hide the fact that the cheese you used are deli slices. Linguine with pesto was ok, decided to forgo desert as it was sitting out and melting at the station on a hot day.
Ignorant service and staff, whom also talk behind your back of you speak English. Would highly recommend going to nearby restaurants if you want an uninterrupted beautiful Quebec experience!
Went on a Thursday night for the first and LAST time. We were so crowded that you could rub elbows with the person beside you and the waiter kept moving our chair to get by. I'm surprised the fire department doesn't shut them down. Overpriced for very little food. Don't order the cannelloni. You only get 2 very thin ones with a lot of melted cheese. As we are not drinkers, we ordered a soft drink. Don't! 2 cokes and 2 refills costs us over $13. Refills are not free. To be fair, we didn't get free refills in a couple of other restaurants we visited in Quebec so we stuck with the free glass of ice water.
There's vibe and mood was so good but the space was too cramped.
Dine in
Wonderful friendly staff, interesting decor, and slightly overpriced by the numbers food. It's not bad food, but it was pretty boring Italian. Oddly enough, the cheap spaghetti bolognese was the best item we had.
Very good
Left without ordering. Staff seemed confused and refused to move us to a more comfortable table despite the restaurant being at less than 50% capacity. "Manager" was rude and made excuses why he would not to move us. There are plenty of other restaurants on this street that will appreciate your patronage.
Good wine for the price . I waited 10 min for the waitress/ server to order food and ended up leaving
Amazing food and the staff is very attentive.
We came with a group of 8 for work and had amazing dinner. On top of it all we finished dinner and got to meet the amazing Luigi himself. Life truly is La dolce Vita AR Restaurant Parmesan
Love this place, great food and a festive atmosphere. We went on a Friday night and did not have a reservation. The owner, who spoke English was able to accommodate us very quickly. We enjoyed the wine, a few cocktails and a fantastic Italian dinner. It will be a repeat place for our next trip to Quebec City.
We really enjoyed the live music. One of the best places to go to in the Old City. It has a very good and interesting selection of dishes. It was 3 of us and we ordered 6 different dishes to try because we couldn’t choose???? The food was good, but not amazing.
Had a lovely meal. Staff were very nice and the accordian playing was great.
Absolutely loved my meal. The environment is very cozy and friendly. Really enjoyed listening to the live accordion. We definitely be coming back next time
Lovely meal, fireplace, accordion player. The meal was excellent, desserts well. The people are very friendly.
Great Italian restaurant!!! The atmosphere is incredible, they play good accordion music! The food is good and they have gluten free pasta.
Decor was different. Service was terrible. Half bread service was hard and inedible. Food took 45 minutes to come out. Waiter forgot my salad. My lasagna was a soggy mess. Worst lasagna I've ever eaten.
Food was excellent. We had veal which was very tender. Accordian music was very pleasant to accompany dinner. No rush to eat. Very friendly staff.
Our group dined here after spending the afternoon exploring the Chateau Frontenac hotel and the promenade behind this hotel. We had originally wanted to try their boulliabase but were disappointed upon ordering that they do not offer it (don't know if they meant just that night or for good). Well it may have been a blessing in disguise as we misread the menu and thought that the boulliabase had to be ordered minimally for 2 persons for $58 but what the restaurant meant was minimum 2 persons at $58 PER PERSON! Whew, it was a blessing in disguise that they did not offered it. We ended up ordering the frog legs and their special of the day which included an appetizer (pate or soup of the day, shrimp pasta (cheapest)or lobster or steak (more expensive) and dessert and coffee or tea). All the dishes were very good. They had an accordion player roaming around serenading the diners and if you tip him, he'll try to sing songs popular to your area if you're from the U.S. or Canada. The waiters were also very accommodating in providing enough bread and water to our table. We would dine here again if we're in the neighborhood...
Tasty food, beautiful decoration, they have a live singer who goes table to table...enjoyed a lot. Good for big groups too.
Very quirky and unique place. The atmosphere, staff and restaurant patrons were happy, fun and nice. The food was good but nothing special. Very crowded, so you will get to know your table neighbors because they will feel like they are sitting at your table.
This restaurant is just ok. The staff was great, but the food so so. The bread was stale, the watercress salad limp and the onion soup too salty. The pasta is a better choice here. The ambience is nice and cozy. There are many restaurants in the old city so if you have only a few days I would not recommend this place.
Left before ordering. Made reservations for our engagement supper for 8pm, showed up and no tables were ready and the one host looked confused and nearly surprised at our arrival. They tried to rush us into a seat that wasn't cleaned, and then proceeded to squeeze us into this small corner when my fiance asked to be seated somewhere else, but at least it was ready. As he seated us, he called my fiance a big baby for saying she wanted a different seat and berated her for not knowing where she wanted to sit within 2 seconds of being asked. After being moved, the older hostess continued to harass us calling us picky, saying we didn't know what we wanted, and being very rude. He then walked by to apologize for being rude and said he was just joking, that I have nothing to worry about. 10 seconds later he walks by again and tosses a handful of candies into my sweater hood as "compensation" for the ordeal. I told him there's a time and place for jokes, and this isn't one, considering we have just been given the worst service I have ever made reservations for. We walked out once he finally stopped harassing us.
The food was great.the environment was so friendly.the staff were caring and friendly.Music was awesome...It was my birthday and they surprised me with a delicious cake and good music and a memorable photo.
A must go to if you're in Quebec City! We go every time we visit and are never disappointed!! Warm, cozy, and the food is amazing!
Service
Best place and intertainment around in Québec city .
Fun and reasonably priced for Old City eating. The museum's were excellent, and the service was great.
Amazing ambiance and food, but comes with a price tag. Average price for main course is about 28$, not counting entree. Good table d'hote, excellent wine selection. Most night has live music, typically accordion. Very nice over all.
Bad service and long wait. They don't even bring you water until you ask 3 times and the waiters act as if they are doing you a favor for even looking at you. Felt very uncomfortable and we finally left when the waiter coughed on my husbands food.
Was delighted by this restaurant. It was recommended by some friendly visitors from Maine that we met so we gave it a try. We squeezed in to a cozy table in one of several rooms. Good wine and good food was enhanced by the wandering musician playing an accordian/synthesizer who had a wonderful range of songs in his ample memory. We both got the table a hotel which was a great value as well.
Would never go back! The restraunt was way to crowded jammed in like sardines. The waiter took our drink order brought our drinks then never came back. No water no bread I had to get up and get our own plates for the bread after asking several times. Finally another waiter came by and took our orders. Had to send back the lamb way overdone. Finally received a new plate when every one else wAs done. Veggies and rice were terrible. No apologies or discount. With so many wonderful places to choose from wouldn't waste my money going there.
Food was great, service was amazing and the accordion player put the cherry on top of the whole experience
Very nice restaurant in the heart of Old Quebec. Cool European feel sitting by an open window as tourist walk by. Inside looked clean. Its tight in there, but get over it, space is premium in a town like this. Food was good, especially liked the spaghetti with meat sauce and chicken parmesan. Staff was friendly but super busy so be ready with what you want. They had a guy playing an accordion in there that added a nice touch. And the bathrooms, upstairs have several stalls so no lines and they were clean. Just stay out of the way of waiters as you go.
Amazing food. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. If you are here on your birthday, tell the staff and they'll do the rest!
Une très belle soirée ! Merci pour la bonne nourriture, très bon service et l'atmosphère conviviale. Ciao. You can't go wrong here. They've been around forever. The food is very good and the vibe is great! It's like visiting your Italian cousin you never knew you had.
Food was good. Had the osaboko . Dinners at the table behind us were loud and getting drunk. Took away from the ambience of the restaurant.
A wonderful dining experience alround.
Lovely staff n good Italian food! Props to the accordeon man & Luigi!!
The restaurant was over priced, the food was just pasta and meat sauce for $ 30 and they pushed us out the door like we were a number making room for more customers, my wife was trying to get the 3 month old baby ready to leave and the owner was very rude and rushed us out the door like we were just nothing to him .I went to a few restaurants around there and they treated people with respect, very nice people and good prices, that place is overpriced and a ripoff, don’t go there!
Seafood is absolutely fantastic. Dessert is delightful The only thing: let the waiter know that the main dishes can be served …
The prices are rather high. The quality of the food is good to very good. Entertainment by musicians available. The restaurant is recommended.
Tried to go here with the family but they said they open at 5 pm. Then they let in some people while we were waiting. If you want to get pasta fair or Italian food go to Polina Pizzeria just up the street. The service there is better.
I had the veal parm, and the only thing i tasted was the oil it was cooked in. The veal had no taste, you couldn't taste the cheese or any seasoning. My wife had a Filet Mignon it was good, but the veg was just a plain steam veggy, no herbs. And for a hundred dollar meal was very disapointed, if you go to Quebec City have a french meal you will be better off.
Dinner
We came here while touring Quebec City on our way to Eastern Canada. The Marsala, Bruschetta, Fettucini Alfredo, and Mussels were exceptional!! Hidden gem amongst 100’s of restaraunts The accordion player during dinner is an added bonus.
Amazing atmosphere!! This was hands down our favourite restaurant of our 5 day trip. Our friend who is a Quebec City local took us there. The food was great and the service was second to none. We went on a Friday night and there was an accordion player roaming through the restaurant performing all evening. Even the Chef came out to sing us a song. So much fun. Highly recommend!!
Food was ok but it is really expensive for what you get. $26.00 for a plate of pasta is really overpriced. Nice atmosphere with music but expect to be crammed in. Service is fast and excellent.
Busy restaurant ,but you are very crammed in . Waiters nice and friendly but so rushed and fast . It makes you feel like they want to do quick turnovers . I ate Osso Bucco, which was tasty but it's a small portion and I was left a little hungry . Husband ate frogs legs which he enjoyed but was also hungry . If you want loud fun ambiance it's good place to eat but not for a romantic dinner .
My wife and I came here this evening at around 6 which was a busy time. They brought us in and found us a spot. It is tight but I consider it to be cozy. The atmosphere was absolutely awesome. The owner (I am guessing he is the owner) seemed to be quite a character and is in lots of pictures all over the walls. He certainly takes a lot of pride in his business to ensure things are presented properly and truly a gentleman in helping to put on the jackets of any ladies near him. The meal was wonderful. The drinks were wonderful. The service was excellent. Fast and attentive to our needs. I am a big fan of this cozy little spot with a ton of character. Thank you for a great evening. Oh and there was the accordion player. He was great. Roamed around the restaurant playing little tunes. Keeping everyone entertained. Great ambiance
Best restaurant for Italian food in Quebec City! We were in Quebec City for two days and dined there on both days! The food is very flavourful but the thing that stands out the most is the exceptionally warm and friendly service! The restaurant was full, and they had live music! The friendly accordion player played some beautiful classics that added to the sense of joie de vivre! We tried Poulet Parmesan, Lobster Bisque, Poulet Cacciatore, Bruschetta—it was all very tasty! The tiramisu and cheesecake were amazing too. The best part was meeting and interacting with the older gentleman, who assigned us our seat. :) He was a joy to chat with. He was personable and had an amazing sense of humour. If you ever visit the restaurant please say a hello to him! :)
Delicious food Amazing experience I really like their gnocchi!! …
They warned us before they sat us down: there will be a long wait after your order due to being short staffed. We waited quite awhile for our food, but it was worth it because the food was delicious. And during our wait, the waitress …
One of my favorite places au Quebec!!! Each time I visit Quebec City, I make it a point to have at least one dinner here! Love the atmosphere and the food.
Amazing restaurant, it was so pleasure to eat there
4.5 stars! We enjoyed the food. Service was great. Atmosphere was jovial. Really enjoyed the accordian.
Wow. Incredible experience. This place is filled with racing memorabilia. We met the lovely maître d John :) Our server Mike was fantastic, the food was great. The accordion player was so engaging! The owner Luigi even came over to chat with us. Fantastic atmosphere ... could have sat there for hours ... must go to place in Quebec City.
We had an amazing time @ Parmesan! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was excellent, and the service was exceptional. We went for a birthday dinner for two and the staff there made it a night to remember. …
Great atmosphere, accordion player singing and hosts were lively makes for fun dinner setting. Wide variety of Italian food. Gnocchi was a little salty but good. Penne with ham mushrooms and peas was very good. What I definitely would recommend is the after dinner drink of fire brandy. They prepare at your table.
Every time me and my boyfriend come to Quebec City we have to get dinner here. The staff and owner is very welcoming. Would highly recommended.
Tasty food, beautiful decoration, they have a live singer who goes table to table...enjoyed a lot. Good for big groups too.
A nice place with all the trinkets. The Antipasto was Ok .The Fruit de Mare was probably the most forgettable in my last 40 years. Between ordering drinks ,Antipasto ,main course & desert nobody came buy to ask how things are going or if We needed anything.ALL Hat & NO CATTLE
EXCELLENT experience! Atmosphere was cozy and festive with traditional accordion playing live at the table. Food was home made and very well seasoned. Portions are not huge however filling. Recommend!
Meal type
Food was avg. Waiter was very abrupt. Seems like they just want to move people in and out. Owner came and started dragging our table without any excuse me or pardon me!!.
Amazing food. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. If you are here on your birthday, tell the staff and they'll do the rest!
Amazing ambience and amiable staff. We were very cozy and the accordion player, Joseph was crazy talented. Everyone in the restaurant was seemingly having a great time. Food was good. And they definitely knew how to make drinks. The hostess made a drink for some guest, who were celebrating their birthday and it was quite interesting. Will definitely go again.
We enjoyed this place very much. We were there on a Saturday night and it was absolutely packed. If you are looking for a quiet place, this isn't the spot, but if you are good with a high energy vibe then you will love it. Food was excellent as was service and everything came out lightning fast despite how busy it was. Great spot!
I love their onion soup, and chick breast in white wine.
an authentic Italian place with a intimate atmosphere, always amazing service (the kind you never have to wait for the waiter), feels like home and never disappoints. A monthly destination for sure!
Great service with very friendly waiters. The food was good and reasonable prices. Would recommend
It was winter. I was cold.I wanted to get warm and a cup of tea. They literally kicked me out bcuz I wasn't gonna eat but just drink tea. Worst staff and place ever. You don't do that to any customer. The place was empty. No wonder why.
Visiting from London, England: what an introduction to Quebec City - great food, wonderful ambience, love songs and arias. Great fun and a memorable experience.
Fantastic experience! The staff are so welcoming and attentive. The food was amazing! We further enjoyed the atmosphere and the ambience created with delightfully beautiful live music. Thank you for a great evening!
I put good service, but the truth is it goes from poor to Excellent. We've been there many times and I think it can't cope with it's past reputation anymore. Sometimes we go and are treated like kings, sometimes we book months in advance to be put in a tiny little table in a corner. Might go one more time "for good old times sake" as my wife and I associate it with our courtship, but i'm hoping we won't be dissapointed
Food was excellent!! Extremely busy, definitely book a reservation
We had such an amazing evening at Parmesan restaurant for my birthday . The staff was absolutely great , I would go back any day ! The food was so tasty and authentic Italian food . The restaurant had a great home feeling to it and the owner Luigi was fantastic made sure his guest were treated like gold .
I liked the plates, good variability of plates. You have a basket with breads and butter as an appetizer. 2 people without drinks/deserts spend around $80 with taxes and tips.
we went to this restaurant on November 27 2021 and was not satisfied at all.. some servers did not wear their mask properly. we ordered the duck and the salmon. the duck was ok, but the salmon was overcooked and dry, we advised our waiter and he took it back and replaced it with the same results. dry, overcooked and very low quality for the price we paid. will never go to this restaurant again.
Had a lovely meal. Staff were very nice and the accordian playing was great.
One of the best places to eat in Quebec City. Great foid and friendly staff. Plus there is live music too.
Amazing food and service. Unique and friendly atmosphere. Very patient with us as two young adult English speakers.
The food quality was not worth the price that we paid. the restaurant ambiance was great but staffs were not friendly or professional at all. They bring the bill while we were eating (we did not asked for the bill) and when I told him that we are still eating he left us and few minutes later his other colleague came with a machine in his hand and asked us to pay! unbelievable!
Came with 3 friends last night Oct 5. What a terrific experience from the setting to the food to the service and the music by Sergio. Finally a great conversation and visit from Luigi who is the proprietor. Cannot wait to return to this experience.
We had a table reserved for 5 the day before to arrive the following day at 8pm. We ended up being seated at a small rounded table in the middle of the main path way for staff and customers. Thus elbows constantly contacted our table. Initial introduction to the restaurant was welcoming and the entertainment of the walk around accordion player was an amusing touch for the memories. However after that it was all down hill. The table was initially served with the driest week old bread pieces and we had to ask for the vinegar and olive oil for it. I personally started off with the soup of the day which was a vegetable soup but far more liquid than actual substance and a mere 'hint' of flavour and that's not a compliment. We literally had a server ONLY at the table to take the order after an hour of sitting and ZERO return to see how the meal was going and if we needed anything. Unacceptable!! My main course was the surf and turf which was the blandest, over boiled n 10% flavoured rock lobster tail I have ever had. (Note - I have been a lobster fisherman in Nova Scotia for 4.5 years as a teen as well as my step dad being a lobster fisherman so speak from experience) this was absolutely terrible!! Toss it off with a peace of beef that was literally 2 bite sized pieces when cut. I ordered medium well and came.completely WELL done with again, zero flavour. During the meal one of our.company had a wine glass break in his hand and it took 10 minutes to get any attention from a server. By the way we ordered a full bottle of Merlot. What did we receive from the server?? Ziltch!! He took the broken glass away while my friends hand was wrapped in a napkin bleeding!! Zero concern. Jesus he could have at least filled his glass for the accident which was no fault of my friend but no doubt either cheap glasses or have been used n abused through the dishwasher far too many times. After a 5 person unsatisfactory meal we all literally had to stand up with our jackets on to get any attention from the server. Finally realizing we all.may just walk out he dropped off our individual bill and then we had to wait again for the credit card machine. I know what it's like to hustle for our $ and the work involved as I work as hard as any person for their dollar thus I do not just hand over what I worked for 'just because' it expected. I reward good service and even satisfactory. I do not reward poor service and in this case poor to non existent!! My recommendation to take it or leave it but you work hard for the fruits of your labour and there are far better serving and quality prepared dishes in old town Quebec City than this establishment. They may have been great once but not on my dime. Tread wearily.
Fantastic authentic Italian food. Very cool atmosphere, there are what looked like millions of little knickknacks and ornaments decorating the restaurant and lots of photos! It’s the type of place you could go to every day and never notice …
Best place and intertainment around in Québec city .
Amazing atmosphere. Very friendly service. Accordion player was also very friendly and talented. Food was good. Definitely would try it again.
Fun experience. Close to the hotel, live music. Owner was on the floor walking around greeting customers. Food was good but not amazing.
Great atmosphere, place was over capacity on the night when we were there. Food was at least 45 minutes for spaghetti Bolognese. . Thank goodness for the bread sticks and endless bread. Service was great, I would recommend if you don't mind very tightly seated tables and a communal vibe. Live music player too !
If you are looking for a convenient tourist restaurant in the heart of old Quebec, this is the place. If you do not want to have your palate challenged with haute cuisine, spicy sauces, rare meats, or exotic ingredients or creative combinations, then you will be comfortable here. This is an old fashioned place where the owner soliticitously greats you at the door and decades of souveniers line the walls and halls. An accordian player serenades diners providing great background music, without being obsequious.
As I write this review, Parmesan still lists their closing time as 10pm. But as I learned last night when they refused me at 9pm, this is not accurate. Perhaps the food is good - the restaurant was busy, so other people seemed to enjoy it. However the inaccuracy of their hours and the lack of flexibility in accommodating a table at 9:02pm means that I won’t give it another try.
Meal was below average. My wife had beef tenderloin that was only average. I had veal parmesan that was way below average. It was served with spaghetti with meat sauce. A first for me. To me, the meat sauce conflicted with the veal. Once our meals were served, no one ever came back to the table to check on us until dessert time. As a result, we did not receive the wine that we ordered. Certainly way below average compared to the other restaurants that we have eaten at here in QC the last four days.
Last week my brother-in-law and his family hosted a dinner at Au Parmesan Restaurant in old Quebec for 14 people. Wow! What a great time and fun experience from the food to the music, it was just a very memorable time, so memorable that my wife and I went back two more times for dinner during our stay. The place was packed, the atmosphere was festive, and the owner, Luigi made us all feel like part of the family.
A very good restaurant with great servers and awesome food!! I'll totally go back there next time I visit Quebec.
One of the best restaurants I have eaten at, the atmosphere and love music really made the experience.
We got our food after the other two tables whose orders were placed after us. We had to ask our server if the kitchen got our order after waiting patiently for 30 minutes for three pastas. Even when we wanted to pay and leave, the servers barely paid attention to our table. We had to wait for very long to just get our bill, and had to wait another 10 minutes or so to just have our server to get a machine. And for that, I had to call him and reminded him two times. The restaurant was packed with people so we understand it must have been very hectic for the staff, however we couldn’t help but felt that we were neglected compared to other customers throughout our dining experience. On top of their customer service, the food was overpriced for the quality but I guess it is what it is in the touristy spot.
Friendly, great live music with an accordion player and the food is to die for. Kitchen closes late and conveniently located in the tourist district. Definitely can't go wrong here either ordering from the table d'hote menu or a la carte.
Father and son trip to Quebec City and we couldn't choose a restaurant. Thankfully we stumbled by Parmesan. We ordered the seafood casserole. When we finished it, the waiter offered to add linguini to the broth, just in case we were still hungry. I said, let's do it. Delicious!!! Highly recommend this place.
Although the ambiance is still great (loud and cheerful, so be warned), the portions are small and prices are high for average quality food.
Calamari is terrible. It is very dry and less fresh. Veal linguini is very salty with little noodle.
We had a great time at this restaurant! The food, staff and entertainment were all wonderful. Our family that was visiting from Brazil have a great memory to take home with them. We highly recommend this restaurant and we look forward to returning again one day soon.
We wondered in and are we happy we did!!! Everything was simply scrumptious!
Very disappointing! We ordered manicotti and fettuccine dishes, they were forgettable. The bruschetta was so overpowering with garlic. Sorry, but don't waste your time and money. It was our anniversary and we were looking forward to a nice pasta meal. This was the worst Italian restaurant we've been to.
Food was bland and disappointing for 30$ a plate. My girlfriend had the veal which was paper thin and I had luigis pasta which was very plain. Avoid this place, there are much better options in the area.
Fantastic atmosphere, delicious food
Food was ok. Service very slow. Not really friendly staff. Dishes not worth the price.
Amazing, authentic Italian food. Music was great, the people there were very kind and fun. And the serving was very great!
The bread was cold we asked if it can be warmed up and the waiter said its impossible the food was expensive and it just taste average plus the waiter will take advantage of you with the tip do not eat here there are other restaurants nearby that have better food and service for a good price!
The ambiance was amazing. We went on a Monday night for our wedding anniversary and the singing and accordion player was unbelievable. Yes the tables are extremely close and it is a bit expensive but it was still very worthwhile. Would definitely return
We thoroughly enjoyed the energy, ambiance, atmosphere and food. Thank you to the very hospitable maitre d. -the intelligent man
Crazy fast service! Great food, great ambiance, great staff! Our waiter even helped me with my jacket after our meal like a true gentleman :) definitely recomend!
Too old, too tight, not good food. Very disappointed!
Best italian restaurant in Quebec City!!! Besides, the crew gave us an unforgettable experience with very special details due to my wife's birthday...
Really good food and service, a bit loud but it fits the Italian style :p ! Will recomend to friends and family no doubt.
Food here was delicious! Two in our party, we each had different soups and pastas. No complaints! Perfectly cooked and seasoned! Accordian player while you eat was funny charming and very very good. Interacts with diners and really added to the ambiance of the evening. We will come back!
Great atmosphere with live music, delicious food and a wonderful server. Had a nice window seat that made the experience memorable as well. My boyfriend requested La Vie En Rose to be played and the guy did a wonderful job. I felt the romance in the air that night ????
Food was outstanding and accordion player added great atmosphere. The Veal was great, the linguine outstanding and pasta delicious. The prices are high but it is worth it. Really like the room dedicated to Gillea Villenueve. It is refreshing to see a family owned restaurant open to the same owner for so long. Highly recommend this restaurant.
We had an exceptional night!! The service was great despite short staff in the kitchen! The food tasted like real home made Italian food! The atmosphere was like you were invited into an Italian family gathering with live music. We felt part of the family. I would definitely be going back to this restaurant!
The food wasn't that bad, but it was very ordinary ; small portion, overcook, weird presentation but mainly, it's EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. Our main courses arrived before we finished our appetizers (and we have to deal with it... All those plates on the table). The service was so-so , it was chaotic with a clear lack of communication between servers. I also ordered a cocktail... It came in the wrong glass with no garnish at all. It was also tasting weird... I believe they don't even stir it! It was also crowded and very noisy. Avoid this tourist trap and go spend your money where it will be worth it!
Fun and reasonably priced for Old City eating. The museum's were excellent, and the service was great.
Nice friendly place close to historical attractions. Loved the decor in the restaurant. There was a dude walking around playing the harmonica. Overall, great vibes.
I've been coming here for years and the food never ceases to amaze. Super atmosphere. The service could have been better (waiter forgot about us at the end of the meal when we wanted dessert). Great experience other than that
I travel around a lot and I have to say the best Italian food I ever had at a fair price. If you're in Quebec a must stop for dinner!!
Me and my friends ordered 4 spaghettis and we waited for nearly 1 hour. It was not a good experience actually we felt disappointed, even the water has never been refilled. At last when we pay, a tip of 15% was added automatically. We even didn't confirm the price via the POS machine and were just asked to enter the PIN. ALL IN ALL, DO NOT GO
This place is a must do! I've been here 3 times..just this year..two years ago and once 30 years ago! It's full of character charm and ambience in the Italian fashion..it's full of life with an accordion player and lots if singing and fun!...the food is to die for..if you love seafood be sure to get the bouillebaise! It will get a meal you will remember the rest of your life..I would give this place 6 stars if I could!
You have to order a main course or they you out. Even if you want 3 starters for a single person. They are really pushy about it too. It gives off the impression of shaming. Skip this place.
It's was very bad service , And they don't respect the costumer and we found hair in the food and they did not do any thing I am not going back there again and don't recommend it to any one And also the food quality was so bad
The food is average, nothing special but the location and the restaurant itself is very cosy and cool. The prices are quite acceptable. I like :)
Always a bustling spot, fun atmosphere. Authentic Italian , great host Luigi, wonderful musicians Sergio accordion, Mario vocalist visiting each table. Special treatment for a special occasion, birthdays, anniversaries we had both. Great! Food was Superb, waitstaff very professional and attentive. All in all fantastic serbive and fantastic night. Thanks
Its a very old and authentuc italian place.
Loved the Alfredo fettuccine! It's a must.
Amazing ambiance and warm and inviting service ! Food was amazing , great vegetarian options. The greeters at the front were incredibly friendly and fun , made it a very memorable experience. We’ll be sure to come here again next time we’re in Quebec City. Also they had the best bruschetta I’ve ever had.
Do not go there ! It was the worst experience for me at the restaurant. They wrote on the bill how much tip I should pay and added it to the total. When I purposely paid less not even thank you from them or good bye.
Overall the food was delicious. The cons though are the noise that you can't hear yourself talk and its always in a rush. You cannot actually sit and eat peacefully. They serve you fast and expect you to leave as soon as done so they cab give your place to others.
Thats a great restaurant!! Great menu with lots of different choices, I went there for my boyfriends birthday, they are amazing, the person was serving us was J.F, he was super super friendly and helpful, he helped us to choose 2 food but they bring a wrong one, he gave us the plate without any charge also he brought another plate of pasta for us which was amazing! Also when they brought a piece of chocolate cake with a raspberry sauce for his birthday which was great!! They took our picture and gave it to use right away!! This is must go restaurant in Quebec! Its a busy restaurant but it worth it! As long as J.F and all other staff work there it will be busy!! Thank you so much J.F ( also when I was reading the reviews i saw lots of comments about prices but its not pricy at all all everything on that night plus a glass of wine was only 75$ which is amazing)
Always a good crowd and a nice mix of locals and tourists. I find the food very well prepared and good portions, as well as a very impressive wine selection...not expensive for the quality of the food, service and ambiance. A great place to take a date.
Fantastic meal as always. We have eaten at this restaurant over 50 times and have never been disappointed. The food is consistently excellent and the service and atmosphere is always welcoming and wonderful. Our favorite restaurant in Quebec City. Billy D
Fantastic authentic Italian food. Very cool atmosphere, there are what looked like millions of little knickknacks and ornaments decorating the restaurant and lots of photos! It’s the type of place you could go to every day and never notice everything on the walls- there’s just so much! We went for dinner and there was a gentleman playing the accordion while we ate- something I had never seen before! And the dessert was to die for. 10/10!
This was our second time visiting the restaurant. Our first time a couple of years ago was great and we went back thinking it was the same. It’s a very busy place - no physical distancing was observed (COVID Times). Second we didn’t even know who our waiter was, different individuals came to take orders and left. Now once the main was served, they went MIA for at least 20 min once we were done our dinner. We had to flag someone and it took them another 10 min to remove. Then 10 min passed and another individual dropped dessert menus and hurried away. Another 15 min went by and after flagging someone we got up and they ran over and were very surprised that we didn’t want the dessert and coffee. If you love your steak- please don’t order the surf and turf, you will be very surprised with the size and blandness. It was good before, extremely disappointing now.
This Restaurant is second to none and in the 30 years I've been dining here, I've NEVER had a bad experience... The food, service and ambiance is perfect... The owner Luigi does everything he can to make your experience a great one... I've been to Italy and can honestly say the food here reminds me of the restaurants I dined at in Italy. If your dining on a Friday or Saturday make reservations this place is very popular amongst the locals...
Check your receipt before you pay!!! The server added 13 percent of tip on the receipt. Was about to give 20 percent but I think they judged asians are not go at tipping. I asked to our server and he hesitated to answer with my question. He said this is how we work. LOL Food was nice and service was friendly but it wasn't good at the end.
What a great restaurant. The food is lovely and the atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. There was an accordion player which played great Italian songs and the owner Luigi comes around and makes sure you are having a good time. Try the Prosciutto and the Osso Bucco! It is was as good as my Nonna made it!
Italian style of decoration, live music with nice service. Mixed seafood pot was delicious!!
Great recipes, friendly staff. Loved the strolling Accordian musician-very talented and knowledgeable man.
Nice cozy environment. We had the escargot with cheese , pasta with tomato sauce and Caesar salad.
I had a bad experience. The host, an old sir, was nothing polite. The service was slow, menu overprized. The food is not bad, but incredibly overprized. The place is not comfortable, crowded. Definitly not a place to go with family and kids. The best thing is the musician, very cheerful.
Service good. Accordion player a nice touch. Atmosphere more German rather than Italian. Food just ok. The other meals in Quebec were more memorable.
I stumbled upon this place while i was on vacation. The atmosphere is suberb, the staff members are very friendly and welcoming and the food is amazing. 10/10 would recomend
There are a number of other authentic Italian restaurants within a walking distance that would be much, much better choices. Insanely packed dining room area where they just try to cram people in to get the most money possible. Our waiter came to our table just once, to take our order. Called me sir and when I corrected him by saying ma'am he did not acknowledge it at all and just waited for my food choice. Other people dropped our food and cheque off, no one came to ever ask us how things were. That leaves me with just the food to describe, which is sub-par. We ordered a garden salad with house dressing to start. 12 bucks for what honestly tasted like a horse farted in my mouth. I've never had such a disgusting salad. If it would have actually tasted good, I would have been disappointed with how small it was for the amount of money. For my main meal I had the spaghetti with meat sauce, which was a terrible marinara with a sprinkling of ground beef tossed in. Hugely overpriced for what it was. My partner ordered the pasta primavera which was watery and had overcooked veggies. Also overpriced. Even though this place looks fun, stay away.
Too crowded we wait 1 and 1/2 hr for pur meal. Friendly people. Good food
Food is good not excellent, service is so so even though they do not seem to be busy.
One of the worst restaurant experiences. Started with the owner berating the hostess outside the restaurant. Very odd man. Then on to be seated in a crammed in room. The waiter took our order over the table beside us. No room for him to get to our table. We were so rushed in order to make room for the next seating that night. Food was so expensive for the quality and quantity. My wife could not finish her meal. We were so disappointed. We did not have much time in Quebec City and wasted a night of dining on this place. Tourist trap is an understatement.
The veal parm was to die for, even the spaghetti that came with it was perfect. The guys who work there were clearly having a blast and it made all the customers smoke along. You can tell the owners here must be great to work for. Will be back!
First rate service and unique ambiance in one of Quebec City's premier restaurants. The smoked salmon et prosciutto (both produced locally) are absolutely exceptionnal. Also recommendable are the pasta dishes and grilled meats.
The pasta was very good, the steak was average, the ambience was good, the owner/manager was very nice but the waiter was rude and not friendly, he was peering over my shoulder when I was selecting the tip percentage on debit card machine and practically threw the plates and utensils on our table.
I have loved this place for years. First went when I was a kid and recently went back. It's busy and cozy, but food is good and prices are decent. The accordion makes it fun.
ALL IN ALL, NOT RECOMMENDED.
Great food , service and atmosphere.
Best italian restaurant in Quebec City!!! Besides, the crew gave us an unforgettable experience with very special details due to my wife's birthday...
We enjoyed supper here 2 of the 3 nights we spent in Old Quebec, as the first meal and entertaining experience was too good not to repeat. We weren't disappointed! The atmosphere was relaxed and casual, the food was excellent (I tried both the rabbit and the pasta with wild boar for the true Quebec experience), and the musicians were both talented and engaging. John the doorman was a delight from start to the final "Bon Soir".
Just some spaghettis and we had to waited for nearly 1 hour. Even though gave us some sausages, WE WANT FOOD! At last when we paid, a tip of 15% was added automatically. I mean we even didn't confirm the price via the POS machine and were just asked to enter the PIN. ALL IN ALL, IF YOU HAVE OTHER CHOICES, NEVER EVER TO THIS ONE!!!!
We wait for more that two hours to get the main dish on the table
Restaurant mostly for tourists with a nice atmosphere and decorations. Our food tasted okay - french onion soup was good but mushroom risotto was just average. It barely had any mushrooms and the sauce tasted a bit strange. In my opinion, the experience is not worth the money and is overpriced. As someone before me mentioned, they automatically add a tip by writing it with a pen which is such a bs way to do it.
The place is a mixture between Italian and French cuisine and they have a very good Onion Soup! Cozy environment and polite staff.
I'd suggest to make reservations if you don't want to wait. Luckily we managed to get a table without one. The place is cramped but it looks good. Loads of artifacts, I liked the ambiance and the food. Fresh (not frozen) chicken and calamari. I had an awesome time and enjoyed the food.
Hi. Outside shows that they have Pizza. But when we went inside there was not any Pizza in the Menu. They said you can have it just at lunch time. We had penne and chicken. It was good. The staff were freindly.
Very fun restaurant, chicken parm was delish as were our specialty coffees!! Lots of people enjoying a fun dinner out with great entertainment ...enjoyed listening to beautiful italian songs and the accordian. If you want quiet and privacy not your spot but we thoroughly enjoyed and will be back.
Atmosphere excellent, fun place with tons of trinkets, cozy, but service was non-existent. Didn't bring the salad we ordered, never provided any water, waiter wouldn't even look our way to allow us to ask for water, was not checked on a single time after food was brought to see if we even had what we needed (which we didn't). Food was okay, typical.
Great sevice, good selection , very tasty food and nice ambiance. Will definitely return.
Fine Italian Dishes, entertaining live music and singer, friendly owners present at the restaurant.
Very disappointing evening. Very crowded with tables as close to each other as possible. Staff are clearly over worked. They never returned to our table after ordering $42 steaks which the menu said were Flambé which did not happen....they were undercooked and tough. After finally getting a bus boy to find a waiter/waitress we sent them back and declined having them replaced. It was a incredibly rushed service from start to finish. No way we'll return
I love the live accordian music! Food was good too ????
The place is something else. The ambience takes you to a different space in time. Highly recommend letting them know ahead of time if you are visiting for any special occasion … as the way they treat you with a surprise is out of the norm! Hats off! Food seems very authentic … but tastes different … good or bad … you decide for yourself … sorry … I would personally want to give a Big shout out to Stefan & Co. & the MultiTalented Musician in the House ! Just too good ! as they are top notch. P.S French is dominant, but you may be able to get away with english.
When we arrived, we were told we could not keep our baby in the stroller (had to be folded up) as there wasn't enough room in the restaurant (even though I had requested a table for all of us). In my mind, with proper covid distancing measures, this should not have been an issue. Finally, upon consultation with another staff member, we were allowed in with the stroller. My husband ordered the soup of the day as a starter. When it arrived, there was a "skin" on part on top of the soup, so clearly it had been sitting there for awhile prior to serving it. He ordered a prosciutto pizza as his main. When the pizza arrived, it was a plain cheese pizza. Upon remarking this to the waiter, it was taken away and the exact same pizza was given back with cold pieces of prosciutto draped on it. Also, the cheese wasn't fully melted. It reminded us of a frozen pizza. I ordered the lasagna and it was mediocre. The waiter said he would talk to his manager given our issues, but our bill came from another waiter and we were charged the full amount. Our waiter came back and said they should have comped the pizza, so had to go back and get it fixed. I give them kudos for doing that eventually. Overall, we had far better culinary experiences elsewhere and will not come back.
The Most Disappointed we have ever been at a restaurant. Pasta dishes seemed microwaved, Baked Lasagne was strangely burnt and cold. I am sorry to say even the Shortcake for dessert was hard and dry. We said nothing as we know it has been a hard time for all in the industry but this place truly need to review their food. Service was fine.
That was something amazing! Meal worth the money. The service was very nice and they cared for us still. As a European I am impressed by this pleasant European climate. We will definitely go back there :)
It says in google open until 10 pm, they kick me out in a rainy day at 9 pm that they were closed (place still serving people inside 50% capacity)
Excellent option in Mediterranean food, and wine and champagne menu, very good Italian-Canadian atmosphere and attention, The black forest cake is incredible
I love the staff here. There was even an accordian player. The food was fantastic and my dessert was delicious.
The food was excellent. I've been there for dinner 3 days in a row. The accordion player that was there tonight on Sunday was absolutely incredible some of the best sound I've ever heard from an accordion.
One of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. The night started with the owner/manager yelling at the hostess before he sat us in a very tight nook of the restaurant. The waiter, once he finally arrived to take our order made us feel very unwelcome. Like we were bothering him by being there. We ordered a bottle of wine and 2 glasses of water before ordering our food. We asked 3 times for water before He came with the wine 15 minutes later. Still no water. Finally we asked again and when he returned he practically slammed the water glasses on the table. The food came and the waiter actually coughed on my food (by accident I'm sure), but Not even acknowledging it. Needless to say I complained and asked for the bill. They still charged for my wife's meal (which she did not touch after mine was coughed on) and the wine. The staff was horrible. Customer service was a disaster. 1 star is overrated for this place.
The décor: Great! The music: Great! The staff: Awesome! The food: LOUSY! I stopped in for a quick meal and asked for spaghetti & meatballs. The noodles were over cooked and watery, the sauce was bland. The meatballs consisted of 4, the size of an American nickel. It was really disappointing and I meant to say something but the waiter was so attentive and busy that I just paid my bill and let it go. I was one person and the only other item that I ordered was a coke. I paid 26 and change including my $4 tip. The manager, staff and chef have to know that they are serving crap.
Amazing atmosphere. Very friendly service. Accordion player was also very friendly and talented. Food was good. Definitely would try it again.
This Restaurant will take your wallet. I ordered 2 French onion soups, cup size, not even bowl size, 2 appetizers (thin slices of Salmon and 5 shrimp cocktail. The waiter brought me bill for $74.27 and on his own, added tip for $9.72. I paid $83.99 for 2 soups and 2 appetizers. This place is total Rip-Off. Imagine if I had ordered lunch, probably over couple hundred. In my order there were no drinks. See attached receipt
Kind of a tourist trap. We were 3 minutes late for our reservation (parking in Old Quebec is the worst) and the maitre d' chastised my husband. He was nice to me all night, so maybe he was joking... Food was ok. Kind of small portions for the price and my manicotti was cold. Good for grabbing a quick bite, but not for a date night or special occasion.
Me and my boyfriend loved this restaurant. sangrias were amazing and we also had a bottle of moscato. Bruschetta was amazing but the tomato dressing portion wasn’t adequate. We both had pastas and honestly this tops our favourite pasta spot in Toronto. Great restaurant, the only thing I felt could be improved was customer service as we waited long periods to even receive another drink or get our bill.
Wonderful ambiance, live music, very attentive staff. Carbonara was amazing and you can tell they use high quality ingredients. When we visit Quebec again next summer this will for sure be one of our first stops! Wish I had more room for dessert.
Food was excellent and staff very friendly
Atmosphere is ok. Food ok. Price ok. But we felt rushed all the time. Like they wanted us to eat and leave. The food was fast. But they’re a little bit rude. I was the only one eating as my husband ate steak somewhere else. The waiter didn’t like that and had an attitude. I wanted to leave a tip of $4 which was 20 percent of the ticket but bc the waiter was so rushed ended up leaving 50% of the ticket. He said just press ok, ok, and took the machine away from me.
This is my favorite restaurant in Old Quebec Canada!!! I've never been disappointed with any dish I've eaten here. The music is lively and fun. It fills up quickly with ppl and they're so friendly. Come and enjoy a family like atmosphere.
We had an exceptional night!! The service was great despite short staff in the kitchen! The food tasted like real home made Italian food! The atmosphere was like you were invited into an Italian family gathering with live music. We felt part of the family. I would definitely be going back to this restaurant!
This place would make you come back to Quebec again and again... Delicious food- amazing ambience- Superb music and the people are awesome... Not to miss would surely be the Tiramisu ???? Its a must stop spot in Quebec ❤❤❤❤❤
There are many excellent restaurants in Quebec City. This is not one. We experienced extreme wait time for service along with a noisy atmosphere. Two tables near us sat down quite a while after us and were served and finished before we were served. Food was poor to mediocre. Complaints were ignored and a member of our party was called a pest by the manager because he dared to complain about quality of food. Neither apology or compensation was offered by this establishment. Ps. The French onion soup was neither French or onion. Had to be returned to kitchen for some liquid on the mushy bread and cheese.
Had a wonderful time with my family Ambience, food, service everything was superb Love the entertainer who sang beautifully and interacted everyone around
Food was ok. Service very slow. Not really friendly staff. Dishes not worth the price.
Food was delicious and authentic. Definitely will return
Really good food and service, a bit loud but it fits the Italian style :p ! Will recomend to friends and family no doubt.
Wonderful place. I don't speak much French and the moment they heard my horrible attempt they switched to English. Great service, great atmosphere. I came for lunch so it was quiet. I would highly recommend this place.
The food was very bad and the prices were very expensive I did not like
Beware , had dinner at this place because it was so wet and rainy we didn’t want to walk any further .it was close to where we were staying at the Chateau Frontenac . What a mistake . SO OVERPRICED ... $28.00 for fettuccine Alfredo . $9.00 for soup that had a few noodles and some broth poor excuse for a minestrone .$12.00 for French onion soup that was mediocre. Waiters were very unfriendly. Charcuterie board had few slices of meat and liver worst and cantaloupe $21.00 . What a waste of money . Lots of other classier places to choose from. It seemed like they didn’t want us there . We should have kept going .
Really good!
We showed up to this place from out of town, the ambiance is very good , give u the feeling of being in a small restaurant in italy, the food was decent, i was expecting better, if u are look for a traditional home styled italian resto this is not it, the pasta and meats r good but not what u might think, dishes are abit overpriced for quality (ex:18$ for a fried calamari)
Very unique decoration and lovely atmosphere. the staff was very welcoming. There is even a nice gentleman that goes around the table and plays the accordion. In our opinion the caprese salad was flavorless, the spaghetti bolognese was ok …
Food is great feels like you are in Italy.
One is even to much. Wow what horrible service !!! We were shown to a table beside a roaring fire, I asked to be seated at a different table as the heat was so bad. ( numerous tables away from the fireplace were available) I was told very condescendingly to just sit in the corner chair farther from the fire. We walked out!!
After wondering around the old city,it was great to find a cozy restaurant to sip some wine, and indulge in some homemade onion soup Walls are coved with Bean type liquor bottles, and neat tables with wax dripped candles. Service great, bread outstanding. Watching the pasta plates pass by, gave thoughts of another visit for dinner. A great place for Italian food and Joe's music. The service was outstanding and friendly. If you're looking for luscious food in a wonderful Italian atmosphere and uhdelightful personel, Restaurant Parmesan is for you.
Great ambience, friendly service. The wine selection is great, but the beer choice is a bit limited. My rare steam was great, but it did come out more medium than rare, so you may want to emphasize this is it's important to you.
The food was boring, skimpy and expensive. Don't get caught in this tourist trap. There are so many great restaurants in Quebec City. This was the only disappointing experience we had.
Did not like the food. Did not like the service. Did not like the decor(if I can call it decor, it looked like I was in a storage place). Way to expensive!! I grew up on Italian food, this was nothing to write home about. I have to say the prosciutto was sliced very thin, but nothing special. The salami had no taste. Took daily special, veal in a Porto sauce. Came with potato and veggies. (Ran out of potatoes) fine, asked for extra veggies. Got 1 piece of broccoli and 6 slices of carrots. I was waiting for the rest of it! Sauce was thickened with starch instead of reducd like a chef would do, andbitbtasted like starch not Porto. Maybe they forgot the Porto who knows!! Way to expensive for what you get Do I recommend NO!!
Food good enough, nothing special, prices in line with other restaurants, service pretty bad, beer selection abysmal (the only beer on draft is Budweiser, and only 3 bottled varieties were available.) All in all, a tourist trap with annoying accordion music playing loudly. Find another place. You'll be glad you did.
Food was good. Bit pricey for the venue. Service varied between servers. Some were great, others not so much.
Excellent food. Service extraordinaire! Sorry not enough time to enjoy more meals and time there!
A real perfect Italian restaurant in the heart of old Quebec City. We were served by Jeff, who was the perfect blend of attentiveness, humorous, and efficiency. Both Jeff and Jon (who I assume is the owner or host) were around just the right amount. Enough to be aware of anything we needed and how to make the dinner special but not TOO much, where its weird. Also, Joe played music for us, and has a golden voice, can some in 5 languages and is amazing!!!! That was just the service, it was fantastic, then the food comes. The house wine is beautiful, and every dish we had was a great traditional Italian dish. We will definitely be going back, and I recommend that if you're in Quebec City you have to try it.
A great place to eat. The food was awesome and my wife and I had a great time. Friendly atmosphere and attentive waiters. For your enjoyment Restaurant Parmesan also had an amazing accordion player that patrons sang along with.
It's really expensive for the quality they give you. We paid around the same price as dinner would usually be, but it was lunch and you're paying $25 per entree. Would look around more.
Great atmosphere good food loved it would definitely go again.
The best restaurant ever. An amazing atmosphere. Very nice food. Music, portions are very good????
the eggplant was amazing! Fettuccine was too hard and the trout was overcooked. Waiter was hospitable though.
One of the worst restaurants I’ve experienced. We dined at this restaurant in a group of 7. Our server made his best attempts …
I asked for a cocktail as they only have one type of wine per glass my husband has blood pressure so he can’t drink and a bottle is to much for one person that don’t drink much when I ask for a cocktail with fruits I was offered a strawberry daiquiri cocktail but when the bill came we were charged (8.50 per two that is what the bill said )a total $17dollars for a daiquiri when we mentioned it was only one we were told that was a double daiquiri ..it made me upset not for the 17 dollars but the fact I was never asked if I want a double daiquiri I feel they charged us because we didn’t go for a wine bottle and because my husband drink just water ...do to his blood pressure he can’t drink twice in a day having wine with an early lunch... is that much of business fir this restaurant alcohol for extra $$$$$ ??? Very cheap to me
Located in old quebec city this restaurant is charming the food is good not amazing . be ready to dig deep into your pockets , like most places in the old town it is directed at tourist ..
Kudos to Doris for finding this Italian gem, Restaurant Parmesan in Olde Quebec City. With live music, friendly and cozy atmosphere, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We started out ordering a nice bottle of dry red Bujolais wine and sharing a bruschetta appetizer; then on to linguini with clams and spring vegetable linguini, finishing up with a couple of cappuccinos, a creme brulee and a maple syrup pie for dessert. The accordion player and singer was very good, funny and entertaining. The meal was fabulous , we couldn't have been more happy. Our server, Luigi, was attentive, courteous and friendly. Our total bill came to $ 120 CAD ($ $90 USD). Very enjoyable, highly recommend.
Manicotti was great. Parmesan chicken was solid and a large dish. Enjoyed the accordion player and festive atmosphere, though the service was slow.
If you are in Quebec City you MUST go!! Great family atmosphere, live accordion playing at supper time. The food is so delicious and service is superb.
We loved it! Wonderfully friendly and accommodating staff - owner, hostess, waiters - all terrific! The atmosphere is lively with an accordion playing popular Italian songs and the pasta dishes are delicious. The veal was delicious - Veal Parmesan, Veal Normande, or just breaded and served with Spaghetti - all excellent! They are incredibly busy for dinner so reservations are recommended.
Came here for a lunch by myself and it was great. Staff were very friendly. I had their lunch special (~15$) with the spaghetti bolognese, which included a soup and cafe. The portions were very generous for my spaghetti. I just wanted to give a shout out to my waiter, an older gentleman with black glasses, who was very warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend this place!
What a great experience. The food was top notch! Fettuccine Alfredo was some of the best I have had! Everything was great down to the dessert. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great food
My wife and I are visiting from Texas and this is our first time in Old Quebec City. We are major foodies and this restaurant was so fantastic. From the authentic atmosphere to the friendly and accommodating staff and ESPECIALLY the food! If we could give more stars we would! How this establishment doesn’t have a higher rating is baffling!!! If you are visiting or even a local this is a must stop! The food and staff will make you feel like family!!!
Excellent Carbonara pasta, and great service!
I came with my mother during a busy time but still received great customer service, the price is good for the size and quality of the meal. I ordered a veal with spaghetti (which was amazing). They had a musician play an accordion and went around the restaurant (if he notices you recording him, he'll play for you!). The ambiance is wonderful but the place is tight, we started talking to the people beside us who recommended us food. When the waiter came with the bill, it already included a 15% tip which he entered himself into the card machine. I was prepared to tip 15% but the way he did it decreased my overall experience here (not sure if they did it because I was Asian/not fluent in French). Even one of the owners stopped my mom and I to thank us for eating here but the automatic 15% tip left me feeling disappointed.
I really enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. My wife and I stopped in before the restaurant opened but we were treated very well, offered a place to sit even though they were not yet ready to serve food. We had a drink and waited. I'm glad we came early as this seems to be a popular place amongst local patrons.
The place is really nice and warm. Very good ambience with great reception. The waiters were very well mannered and made us so comfortable there. I would like to visit again when in Quebec city.
Dinner was excellent - eggplant parmigiana (very light tasting, a delicious surprise), bruschetta (again a different presentation than expected but very very good) pizza margharita 10+ -simple, but perfect crust, sauce and cheese, veal Parmesan - tasty. Combined with friendly service and an accordion player who also sang it was a perfect dinner on a cold February night!
Friendly staff, great food cozy atmosphere.
Nice atmosphere and staff. Live music. Food is good, but the presentation of the dishes could be better. Also, when I ordered espresso, I was given regular coffee in an espresso cup instantly. C'mon you can't make two espressos and bring them to the table in 20 sec. What an Italian restaurant it is if I can't get the real espresso?
A great restaurant to visit! The French Onion Soup, Surf and Turf, and Veal Marsala are all delicious. The staff are very friendly and gives a lot of information about the place if you ask. I wish I took pictures of the inside, they have very nice collections of bottles molded into different figures - plus La Dolce Vita filmed here!
Just absolutely amazing for some of its price tags that are a bit high they're all worth it
The food was good, however the service was poor. Even worse, the manager was VERY disrespectful, and felt that it was appropriate to touch me and the other 3 women I was dining with. He continued to invade our space by attempting to touch our hair, our shoulders and face, and discuss how we looked so different. We were also the only Black people in the restaurant. He kept saying we looked like random Black celebrities, which we looked nothing alike. The restaurant is also tiny, and there is literally no space for the servers to walk through. There are probably several health code violations, as we witnessed the manager put his hands in a bowl of strawberries that was used for serving customers dessert, and eat from out of that bowl. We saw a server bring back a plate and put some strawberries that were on a customer's plate. Wouldn't go back here, nor would I recommend the place to anyone.
It is really pleaser to be Luigi’s and Cesare’s guest who like to be as good as Michael Schumacher. Exiting atmosphere and excellent Food. Seafood with scallops and fresh mixed mussels are of the best I had.
I love this place! It has such great food and entertainment. I will definitely be back. I would come here everyday of I could.
Great food and atmosphere go check this place out
Best italian restaurant ever in Ville de Quebec!
Over cooked steak in busy time
A plate with one piece of sweet melon and four pieces of prosciutto is not worth $20. Service is poor, bad attitude from the waitors, and super tiny tables. There are much better restaurants in Quebec City, enjoy your meal somewhere else.
Italian food heaven in Quebec City!!!! OK OK food! Good service! Nice ambience!
Food was below average quality and way overpriced. The only reason I didn't give it one star is because there was an accordion player that made for a nice atmosphere.
This place is fabulous We went there for my birthday They surprised me so much! The took a beautiful picture and printed it for us Food is amazing One of the best restaurants
The staff was very friendly. The decor is different... Wine is good. Our meal were just okay.
We made our way there in the midst of a heavy snowstorm, but the minute we walked in we were surrounded by a lovely, warm atmosphere. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The pasta was perfect! The fireplace crackled (a real fire!) , adding to the wonderful feeling of being with friends! Treat yourself to a real Italian dining experienece and eat here!
